The biting chill was starting to get to her but she'd be damned if she was going to admit it in front of Cap. It was a game of theirs, seeing who could be tougher, longer. Usually it was about who could take a harder punch, but it was also about who could go the longest during a stakeout without admitting the obvious: that it was often boring and uncomfortable as hell.

"Well Cap, I think it's time to pack it in. Those thugs aren't coming out of their nice, warm hidey-hole any time soon." She gave his shoulder a nudge with her own as she wiggled backwards down the hill toward their packs. She was choosing to ignore his previous comments about settling down on a beach somewhere. He had been waxing poetic lately about what he'd do "when all this is over" and to be honest, she was worried it was going to make him too soft for a mission one day. What's the point of partnering up with him for missions if his head wasn't in the game? She would just have to trust in him, like she always did.

She gave herself the luxury of taking off her boots and leather jacket as she settled into her pack. What she really wanted to do was strip naked and get rid of her filthy clothes but well... professionalism yadda yadda. She let out an involuntary shiver as she settled into her chilly pack that hasn't yet been warmed by her body. She immediately glanced at Steve, still perched by the cliffside. He was staring at her with a bemused expression in his steely blue eyes. 'Bastard', she thought. 'He saw me shiver'.

"Are you settling in for the night or not, Rogers?"

The wind howled at dusk, the mountains off in the distance slowly beginning to block the sun as it sank into the horizon to bring on the night. Steve Rodgers and Natasha Romanoff were huddled prone on the ground, nearby a cliff's edge overlooking a compound. They had been on this stakeout for a few days at this point, having expected the delivery of vibranium at the facility. Captain America kept looking through his binoculars at the front checkpoint, nothing having changed for hours as the guards were huddled in their roadside shack. "The sun's gettin real low." He muttered before taking the binoculars off his eyes. "Looks like it's gonna be another night of campin in the woods. Think you can tough through it again?" The cold air sending a chill up his spine as he looked over to Black Widow. "Why are they always up in the cold mountains? Why can't they ever have their facilities on a Caribbean beach? Then we could just be fishing on a boat a few miles out."

Steve chuckled softly at his own comment, his blue eyes fixed on her. "Yeah, it does sound like a dream, doesn't it? Just you, me, and the open sea. Yup, maybe one day, after all this is over, we can make that dream a reality," Was he still talking about Natasha or perhaps finding a woman to settle down with. The idea of a peaceful life sometimes feeling more fulfilling than his current one with defending the earth from androids and intergalactic beings. It warmed his heart almost enough to forget about the frigid cold air surrounding them. The chill still got to him though, looking back at their packs before knowing that he'd have to slip his sleeping back back on soon enough to brave the winter's breath.
