Cette nuit, j’ai fait un rêve vachement sympa (j’en fait de plus en plus et c’est cool).

Donc, cette nuit, j’ai rêvé de Naruto (ça commence bien n’est-ce pas). En gros, mon personnage principal était une demi-siren (et pas mermaid) dont la mère, siren avait été assassiner (son père j’en sais rien du tout). Donc elle cherchais a retrouver l’assassin de sa mère, tout en se servant au mieux de ses attributs siren (des ailes, et une queue d’oiseau). Et en allant voir deux enquêteurs hors-paires j’ai nommé Sherlock Holmes et John Watson (I love dreams).

Ils lui indique d’aller à Konoha, où elle rencontre Naruto qui, attention, A AUSSI DES AILES, sauf qu’elle sont minuscules et donc pas utiles. En fait il est aussi a moitié siren et en fait ILS SONT FRERES ET SOEURS.

Enfin bref, donc il se mettent a chercher l’assassine de leur mère ensemble (Kushina du coup, Minato je sais toujours pas ce qui lui ai arrivé). Mon héroine se retrouve dans un internat un peu chelou gardé par des types bizarres. Puis après un jour/nuit d’enquête et qu’elle rentre, elle se fait surprendre et dit “holala, mais je suis perdu, aidé moi a retrouver ma chambre, cet endroit est si grand” (c’était quasiment ça, et c’était drôle).

Donc les pions la ramène dans sa chambre, l’un des deux part et un autre reste (pourquoi ? je ne sais pas). Il reste alors qu’elle est couché, et puis il se met a parlé de chasse et raconte qu’un jour il a tué une siren rousse avec deux oisillons, mais il sais pas ce qui est arrivé aux petits.

Ni une ni deux, l’héroine comprends que c’est lui l’assassin, elle pète un câble, lui pète la gueule et le tue. Fin de l’histoire.

A ce moment là je me suis réveillé et je me suis dit “ohlala, faut trop que j’écrive ça sur tumblr pour m’en souvenir” du coup c’est ce que j’ai commencer a faire sauf que J’Y ARRIVAIS PAS, ce que j’écrivais n’avait pas de sens, et ça m’a tellement soulé que je me suis vraiment réveillée cette fois (best plot twist ever)

The game puts so little details making the three nations different (as opposed to, y'know, Nohr and Hoshido!) that to some, it doesn't matter if Fodlan is unified or not lol since everything looks the same, unless you zoom on the various backgrounds.

So, in some circles, people really wondered if it was such a "negative" thing that Fodlan ends up unified - and given how all of the endings provide the same answer, I'd guess it's a big "no" even if, personally, I'd prefer an ending where all states survive the War, a bit like post-Tellius.

Re: Edelgard situation, I could accept that Byleth feels invested in her even if I don’t, but even that aspect is so underplayed… Even if it’s because Edelgard never expected you to side with her because you’re ambiguously a dragon person… that’s boring? That’s really boring! Listen, I watched Naruto and Sasuke be stupid about each other for a decade straight as a formative media experience, I don’t expect quality, but I at least expect DRAMA

Watch as Nopes suggests something even more boring, a bit like the "and you two were sekritly reincarnations of my dead children who never managed to settle their feud when they were alive, so they transmigrate in their descendants to settle it" shitty plot device - Edel suggests she feels to attracted to Billy because they share the same crest...

But Nopes has, say, at times, a complicated relationship with canon (tfw Nemesis wanted to shag Byleth at the end of VW?) and it really felt like a roundabout watsonian answer to explain the very doylist fact that being the new "waifu du jour" like Azura before her, or even Lucina, Edel had to be attracted to your self-insert

Don’t even get me started on the bold dev statements about the three house leaders being supposedly based on the FE4 concept of old school friends ending up as enemies.

TBH even when Cipher pulled this angle about the FE4 senior lord trio, I always felt a bit bothered by it because it's totally missing the entire plot of the game, in the greater scope of things, no one gives a fuck about Sigurd's band of merry friends - Quan never fights Sigurd (he even becomes his brother in law!!) and Eldie ultimately dies because Chagall, his King, was jealous of him while Sigurd was being manipulated by Arvis.

So yeah, it's a bold statement and a wildly incorrect one, no one in the FE4 trio tries to kill the other two.

The fact that they rebelled against her dad ten years ago but now half of them just go “yeah, sure, let’s give this potentially very vengeful young woman all this military power, surely this cannot go wrong” is… lol, I guess. Ferdie’s dad had enough common sense to not agree, I suppose. There’s mention of her meeting up with Caspar’s dad ahead of time, at minimum, so it’s not like this was a last minute shakeout where she took them by surprise and they had to make their choice real quick.

They are a bit more developed in Nopes, but basically they don't even mention this caveat when they join her, and seem on board with her plan to unify Fodlan under Adrestia's rule - when they turned against her dad who wanted to become a super strong Emperor too so...

In CF, it is revealed Caspar's dad got Leicester in exchange for his cooperation (after Edel conquers the land, she leaves it to Bergliez before heading north).

tbh I always forget what the Flame Emperor even does. Do they do anything… when did the characters even find out they exist… I swear, the Flame Emperor only appears to the characters themselves like twice or something. Not exactly an impactful and threatening figure.

Flamey appears in person once or twice as you pointed out, but the Death Knight works for her (and had been hunting many young women before kidnapping Flayn and skewering Manu) and it is generally believed Flame Emperor and Thomas/Solon and Monica/Kronya are in cahoots. So, basically, from kidnapping Flayn to Remire to axing Jeralt, everything is put on the Flame Emperor's shoulders

I always found the timeline toward the end of WC to be a bit odd because Rhea only really cranks up the sus-ness after you’ve already merged with Sothis, so it’s not like sitting on a throne or whatever will do much to you. There’s no actual danger and her being ambiguously ominous is completely fangless as a result. But if Rhea was always aiming for “god” and not necessarily Sothis, then… well, she basically got what she intended, especially in the cases where you end up ruling over Fodlan at the end.

The player already saw the cutscene where Sothis reliquinshes her power and leaves the rest to Byleth after the fusion dance - so what could happen if they sit on the throne? Sothis pops up again to ask them what's up?

Jury's still out on what Rhea wanted at that moment or thought was going to happen, sometimes it seems like she thinks Byleth is an amnesiac Sothis, sometimes it's almost as she wonders if Byleth isn't a personality created by Sothis or their own person...

Indeed, it Rhea only wanted the "Creator" to return, regardless of their memories of being Sothis or a creator who might not be Sothis, she wins in routes where Byleth accepts that role. But what was Rhea expecting of the "Creator"... I don't know. I wondered a bit on my part, like guiding the "wayward" Fodlan could mean Byleth could offer guidance or rulership to the continent, but maybe Rhea also wanted the "Creator" back to be sure no one would try to make shiny daggers out of her corpse if people discovered she was a dragon?

which would also explain why she reacts so strongly in CF - the person who was supposed to protect them turns against them instead?

OK, onto SS choice and the timeskip!

Due to when they let you save, I've actually played into the very start of the war phase, so I'll just say it here. I was kind of disappointed by how limp-wristed the whole Edelgard situation is? I expected some more "join me and we shall rule Fodlan" kind of thing, but Edelgard is very neutral and almost disinterested about it. Oh, you're not joining her? Oh well.

The Byleth relationship with Claude is rather detached because he has so little stakes in Fodlan and keeps hiding his actual background and motives for so long, but like the tradeoff is that they have no actual beef or conflict and just cooperate well. I kind of thought Edelgard would be more emotionally charged in some way and she... isn't really? Post timeskip, they go through the motions of starting a sword fight, but then just kinda... stop and... part ways... Not sure if Edelgard's rather under-played delivery is part of the issue. I'm not saying her voice actress is bad, but she doesn't really sell the character imo.

Anyway, I am as ever unimpressed by Edelgard.

Man... Both Hubert in their support and Ionius IX here frame it as Edelgard being "stolen away to the Kingdom" but like, no, her mom took her there? And from what I understand, Edelgard was perfectly fine there. The real issue was when Thales posing as Arundel brought her back. But it seems that Edelgard doesn't actually remember that stuff, so are they purposefully lying to her?

It seems like Ionius IX saw his children experimented on. Edelgard mentions seeing him clench his fists until they bled.

Edelgard's first act: putting Duke Aegir in his place and basically imprisoning him in the palace (?)

Ionius IX and Edelgard both keep referring to how the fate of Fodlan is in her hands now, which is kind of lol given that she's technically only taking over one of three countries in Fodlan.

Oh, interesting. In GD (and I believe BL), you fight the Flame Emperor in the Tomb and then break their mask, revealing Edelgard. But here, Edelgard walks in as herself from the beginning and willingly reveals her identity.

Her wehehe evil henchguy states clearly that they're here to take the Crest Stones, and also the bones. Oh boy!

It's interesting that Edelgard can't just order her classmates to stand down. She's their Emperor, so by disobeying her, they're functionally all traitors. In general, I'm surprised we do battle with her initially and only choose whether to side with her after being ordered to kill her directly.

Despite what I kind of expected, Edelgard never really tries to recruit you and isn't at all surprised that you stand against her. Ngl, I expected a "join me and we can rule the galaxy together" pitch. Kinda disappointed...

Yeah, all the BE kids are like "so what if she's the Emperor, we're just gonna do our own thing" but without actually confronting what they're doing. (Update: Hubert at least obliquely threatens Ferdinand if you attack him, with "you have people you care about in the empire, right? think about what'll happen to them if you stand with the Church")

Edelgard's big speech is like "Church wants to rule Fodlan!" and "Church split up the empire to make kingdom and alliance, all to set us against each other" which, I cannot emphasize enough, doesn't really come across as an issue when there's no major history of conflict between the nations. The only actual post-independence conflict was the Hrym-Ordelia business which barely gets mentioned and is also the Empire's own fault... The gold and extravagance thing is just nonsense too.

Oh, lmao. Seteth says that Edelgard "demanded her own father relinquish the throne" but like... I was at her coronation. They either got lazy copy-pasting dialogue from other routes or assumed you'd totes side with her if you saw that scene.

The tone Rhea and Seteth take in regard to the "progenitor god" is a bit weird because Rhea in particular fluctuates between clearly considering Sothis her mother and her loss as a very personal one, and speaking of Sothis as her goddess and a much more detached authority figure.

Ferdinand says that half of the six big noble families declared support for Edelgard. Hubert's dad was assassinated, Bernie's dad is under house arrest and his wife is siding with Edelgard in his stead, and Ferdie's dad his been stripped of his PM position, his rank, and his lands.

Dimitri has mysteriously come to the conclusion that Edelgard is responsible for Duscur. The month before, his explore dialogue was about how he hasn't been sleeping.

Anyway, time to kill off some children. I want no one coming to the promise day.

It is unexpectedly hard. Normal mode is so easy you have to be trying to lose on purpose, and even then it's hard to do.

The battle starts with the enemy already within the walls (Outer Wall on the map location). The Church is holding out for reinforcements that come in through the left and right entrances, but they are first taken by Imperial forces (Death Knight on the left, Hubert on the right), which have to be cleared out.

There are "Onagers" (basically catapults) that archers can use to fire in the town and "Fire Orbs" that mages can use next to the monastery inner walls.

There are two Winged Demonic Beasts with the Imperial forces. They have creepy masks and hold "Pointy Art(ificial) Crest Stones" which are "artificial Crest Stones with a distorted shape, produced in the Empire." They have enormous wings that are even a barrier ability (lol) and are noted as being very swift.

Rhea's class is Archbishop, she's using the Sword of Seiros (which is also mentioned in the class description lol) and Seiros Shield (interesting point: halves monster damage). She's got A in sword, reason, faith, and leadership, B in fists, but nothing in axes or bows, and only a D in lances. Her abilities include Sacred Power (gives boost to allies and lowers damage taken) and Charm. Walking buff point, I see.

After we repel them, Edelgard sends in the reserve troops and signals Arundel (Thales). (He comes in with more Demonic Beasts and also attacks Byleth and Rhea with dark magic... in his real form lmao, wonder if anyone noticed how their commander changed out for another dude somewhere along the line.)

I saw this before, but why does Claude fight with a sword in cutscenes? Sword here and sword in the Fort Mercius scene against Nader too. Also, funny that he and Dimitri are hanging out together for some reason.

Note that Byleth swings and extends the Sword of the Creator with enough force to shatter a Demonic Beast's mask and bodily throw it off the Immaculate One. Like, dang... those things are big and heavy??

Naruto’s Cultural and Mythological References

Someone asked me to put all the mythological references in Naruto in one post so they could easily find them. Most of these posts were written by me, but a couple were written by others. I’ll edit this to add more links later.

Sasuke

Amaterasu’s powers are a reference to Agni’s divine weapon.

The symbolism of rain and storms in Sasuke’s character are references to Indra the god of lightning, storms and rain.

Sasuke is Izanagi the god of creation and Itachi is Izanami the goddess of the dead.

Sasuke’s ocular powers, Kagutsuchi, Susanoo and Amateratsu are refrences to the three faces of Agni.

Sasuke stabbing Orochimaru with lighting is a reference to Indra killing the evil serpent Vritra with a thuderbolt.

The fight between Sasuke and Danzo over Itachi’s death mirrors the conflict between Susanoo and Izanagi over Izanami’s death.

Madara and Izuna

Infinite Tsukuyomi and Indra being a god of māyā.

Madara is a foil to Hoderi the god of the bountry of the sea and Konoha was named after Konohanasakuya-hime, the goddess of cherry bloosoms and the fragility of human life.

Madara and the God Tree are references to Indra and the Kalpavriksha, the wish-granting divine tree of life.

Madara was named after Madarakishin the demon god of dancing, entretainment, performance arts and outcasts. Izuna was named after Izunagongen the god of victory and controlling fox spirits to cause disasters.

Madarakishin the dream god.

Possible names for Madara and Izuna’s late siblings and why Izuna is the third son.

Hashirama and Tobirama

Hashirama is a foil to Hoori the god of grains and harvests. Tobirama plays the same role as Hosuseri and is a central or buffer point for opposing forces.

Tobirama and the Edo Tensei are references to Izanagi’s descent to the underworld.

Tobirama is named after the door’s tree, which is used as a talisman to stop evils spirits from getting inside the house.

Itachi

WORDS OF SHAKESPEARE: The Return of a very Supa Occasion! (Special guest: Richard)

On the 19th of June 2021, my old friend, Maiwel alumni and acting veteran Richard and I went to the Supanova Comic and Gaming Convention at Sydney Olympic Park in Homebush Bay. The 2021 edition of Supanova was the first time in two years that it was held in Sydney as last year’s edition was called off due to “You Know What” alongside Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

To implement with the health and safety protocols, the layout of the convention was more smaller and laid out to comply with physical distancing measures as well as entering via a QR Code.

When I first entered the Dome Exhibition centre seeing all of the convention goers and Cosplayers of superheroes, sci-fi and anime. I kneeled down and proclaimed “HALLELUJAH!” as many of the convention fans from NSW were starved of a taste of a full-on convention since the world went upside down early last year (Outside of the smaller edition of Oz Comic Con titled OCC POP UP which was held earlier in March of this year).

Supanova contained a teeming amount of Cosplayers from DC Comics and Marvel Superheroes, Rick and Morty, Steven Universe, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Doctor Who and Power Rangers, Cosplayers from anime such as My Hero Academia, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Naruto and Disney films including Mary Poppins, Mulan and The Little Mermaid, Cosplayers from Video games including Overwatch, Pokémon, Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy, Sonic the Hedgehog and Undertale, Cosplayers from Web animations for instance including RWBY, Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss as well as various furry Cosplayers and cosplays of my childhood such as Pingu. There was also a very innovative cosplay such as an attendee dressed up as a giant functional Nintendo Game Boy System! The costumes looked absolutely well designed and spot on as I asked kindly for photos!

A number of RWBY fans and Cosplayers noticed me wearing Jaune’s Pumpkin Pete Hoodie. I must admit, I’d make a pretty good Jaune cosplayer if I could get his armour, his “Crocea Mors” sword and shield and dye my hair blonde!

There was also the Cosplay stage across from The Dome where there was a competition for the very best and innovative costume, as well as seminars of the bigger name Australian celebrities.

Speaking of the celebrities, Due to the international borders being closed until either the middle of next year or when the majority of the population of Australia is vaccinated, Supanova relied heavily on home grown talent from our country for example (but not limited to) Manu Bennett, David Wenham, Josh Lawson, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Georgia Haigh, Nicholas Hamilton and frequent Supanova Attendee, John Jarratt who is famous for portraying the infamously ominous and frightening Mick Taylor from the horror movie franchise “Wolf Creek.” I still remember being scared straight to high heaven watching the movie when I was very young due to Jarratt’s portrayal of the heinous horror character next to Bill Skarsgard’s portrayal of Pennywise the clown in Stephen King’s IT Chapters one and two, but alas Jarratt was a very generous and friendly larrikin!

There was a lot of great activities to do including the “Black Widow Obstacle Course” where you had to complete a number of tasks within the time limit in order to win a prize, Star Wars Lightsaber demonstrations and tutorials and the “Battlecry” LARP (live action role playing) battle displays and demonstrations where you could fight your friend or one of the friendly Battlecry veterans such as Sammy Owen from the recent Medibank Commercial with a rubber sword or axe. This was a very great debut for my LARPING alter ego, “Boar-Head: The Sworded Brawler” and I am very interested in joining a Battlecry LARP group in the future!

There was a very colourful display of artwork, comics and prints at the Artists Alley, with various comic book artists from across Australia such as (but not limited to) Queenie Chan of Fabled Kingdom, Anthony Christou of Luminous Ages and Camillo Di Pietrantonio famous for illustrating the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IDW comics.

The Fabulous Wonder Mama also made a guest appearance as she is a superhero representing the LGBT Community.

The Artists Alley also had tables of independent artists selling comics, prints, bookmarks and badges available. Looking at the artwork made me feel like I was at an Art Museum for the fans of pop culture!

For those who want to spend some dough, there were also stalls selling new and vintage comics and trading cards, Pop Vinyl Figures, Animation cells from cartoons and movies of yesteryear, Action figures and gaming consoles from the eighties and nineties, LGBT pride flags, rock and metal band t shirts and apparel and Plushies from Japanese anime and video game franchises such as Pokémon and Digimon. There were also games to play such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch so fellow gamers can smash their friends out of the arena! For the con-loving geeks who were hungry, Dominos had a stall selling various flavours of pizzas and garlic bread and the canteens in the Sydney Olympic Park Dome sold fish and chips, bagels, sushi and coffee. Byron Beef Jerky also had a traditional stall selling all kinds of flavours such as Teriyaki, Chilli and the infamous “Devil’s Doo-Doo!” (Not for the faint hearted!)

Whilst Supanova Comic and Gaming Con in Sydney was a fun event for the inner nerds, parts of the con had to be completely modified and or removed in order to be healthy and safe for example, the discontinuation of handing out free goodie bags containing the guidebook and map of the layout of the con and other cool things making both the map and guide digital exclusive via the Supanova Website.

Another notable absence was the Australian Wrestling Federation wrestling ring where the pro wrestlers of the aforementioned promotion would host a series of three wrestling matches per day and the wrestlers would hand out free autographs, this really kind of hurt me as a fan of pro wrestling for sixteen years but it’s better to be safe than sick. At least the Battlecry LARP displays and demos filled in its place!

For the seminars, gone are the days of staff handing the microphone to the audience for the Q&A’s as they have to lineup behind the microphone in order to ask an interesting question to the guests.

I also didn’t like how some parts of the convention was a bit squashy when you first entered, in the artist’s alley and in some of the stalls. Like I said, we are in a receding health crisis and we need to wear masks, be physically distant, wash our hands and get the much needed vaccine shot against the you know what!

All in all, Supanova had a amazing return to full flight in Sydney despite the scare earlier in the week and the lack of International guests. I was starved of a full on convention throughout the year of misery last year and as a person on the autism spectrum, cons are such an amazing way to make new friends and to show out your inner geek, nerd,fanboy or whatever via cosplaying, gaming, greeting guests, purchasing artwork and so on and so forth all in a very safe measure!

I give this year’s Supanova in Sydney a 7 out of 10. This edition was absolutely different compared to last year’s and I have strong confidence that next year’s edition in Sydney and abroad will have well known and beloved international guests back to the much loved Comic and Gaming convention next year, just in time for Supanova’s 20th birthday!

Next time I am in Sydney, I will be going to the Vivid Festival which will be in August so stay tuned for that!

I had a Kny au idea ,where everything is the same except Sabito and Makamo didn't die,instead Sabito went on to become the water pillar,and Makamo and Giyuu became like subordinates that work with him(Like Kanao and Shinobu),And then after Tanjiro is done training with the previous water pillar,He joins their team(after proving himself or something), And the four of them become like a special task force of some kind,The name I came up with for them is "The fox spirits" (It sucks I know),Referencing the masks Urokodaki gave them.
