Juggler is stopping by the SSP's office. What he quickly found, though, was that there was a beast of unspeakable evil making it's new home there. What? Gai stop laughing!

Juggler glared at the unholy spawn of Satan - or possibly something worse - that was innocently looking at him from it’s position sitting on Naomi’s desk. He had come by for reasons that weren’t horribly important, expecting to have to wait alone in the SSP’s office until one of the three arrived for the day. He was partially right, about having to wait for someone to arrive, but there was one thing he was wrong about.

He wasn’t alone.

He hadn’t noticed, at first, not until he first heard it makes it’s hellish sound, most certainly indicative of it’s plans. He didn’t trust it, not one bit. Were it not for the fact that Naomi would most certainly lecture him for it, he would simply kill it with his sword. But alas, that wasn’t really an option, at least not one he wanted to deal with the consequences of. So he settled for glaring and keeping his distance.

The beast stood up from it’s sit and stretched. Juggler didn’t dare take his eyes off of it. Then it let out a horrendous  sound, one that hid it’s true nature.

“Mmmrow?”

“Don’t you dare try anything.” He growled in response, glaring even harder, if that were possible. He didn’t dare take his eyes off of it, lest it try some nefarious plan.

It looked at him and blinked. “Meow?”

“I don’t trust you.” He said plainly, wishing someone would show up already.

The beast leaps from Naomi’s desk down to the ground, despite that being such a high perch for it to jump from. It began to make it’s way over to him, seemingly curious.

“Get any closer,” Juggler grows at it once more, “And Naomi be damned I will skewer you.”

Unfortunately, he was so caught up in watching, ensuring the furry abomination didn’t try anything, that he didn’t notice the door opening. Nor did he notice who had walked inside, getting a plain view of his distrust.

“Are you threatening a cat?” Juggler looks up in the direction of the door, scowling as he sees Gai standing in front of it. Just his luck. Usually, Juggler could avoid running into Gai, but today was clearly not his day. Gai was regarding both Juggler and the “cat” with amusement.

“It is a beast.” Juggler hissed, turning his attention to finding where the creature had wandered off to. Thankfully, it had chosen to ignore Juggler and move it’s attention to Gai. Good, let Gai deal with the hell spawn.

With a laugh, Gai picks up the beast, scratching gently behind it’s ears, “It’s a cat.” He said, “The worst he could do is scratch you.”

Frowning, Juggler walked just the slight bit closer to Gai, though still keeping his distance - he didn’t want to get near the monster in the idiot’s arms. “Look that thing in the eyes and tell me it hasn’t spawned from the deepest depths of hell,” He said, serious, “Then I will agree that it is just a ‘cat’.”

Gai took a moment to look the “cat” in the eyes, just like Juggler said to. Then he looked back at Juggler, “It hasn’t come from the deepest depths of hell.” He said calmly, “If anything, it probably followed Naomi back here after one of her jobs.”

Growling in frustration, Juggler turned his back to Gai and the beast, debating leaving entirely. Maybe he could just come back some other time, preferably once the monster was gone. Yes, that would have to do.

Then someone else came in, prompting him to curse internally. Today was really not his day. He turned towards the door, seeing Naomi come around Gai.

She notices the monster in his arms, “Oh, I see you’ve met Gai.”

Juggler’s eye twitched, before he laughed. Oh, oh! The irony, “You named that hell spawned monster after - after - Gai?” He struggled to get the words out as he continued to laugh.

Naomi paused for a moment, a confused look on her face. “Hell spawned monster?” She echoed, then frowned. “Juggler, it’s a cat.”

He stopped laughing, if only to correct her, “Hell spawned, beast of a monster.” He said, “There are few, if any, creatures on this planet that are worse.”

She sighed, taking the monster, “Gai”, from the annoyance Gai’s arms. She gave it a few scratches, looking at Gai, the annoying one. “I named him Gai because he reminds me of you.” She explained.

Juggler frowned, “You say that like you plan on keeping it around.”

When she looked over to him, he felt something strange. He thinks it might be terror, but he’s not exactly sure. Naomi, of course, answers, “That’s because we are.” She set’s down the monster named Gai and walks over to her desk, “He comes and goes as he wants, though. So he won’t always be here.”

It doesn’t matter what anyone else says, least of all Gai, Juggler did not exhale a sigh of relief at the knowledge the beast wouldn’t always be around. He did not. That lack of sigh, though, did not stop Gai from laughing.

“Are you afraid of a cat?” He asked, prompting a growl in response.

“That is not a cat, it’s a beast from the innermost circle of hell!”

since Sigma ran Sky Casino he was really good at dealing and shuffling and nifty tricks like that so back at the agency he does his fancy card tricks and shuffles to entertain them.

Everyone, especially Kyouka, Kenji, Ranpo, Atsushi, Junichiro and Naomi are completely spellbound by him and watch his moves like ✨o✨

As a side hustle he gets his nails done in very cute whimsical styles and runs a YouTube channel where he does like card shuffling asmr or something and it’s moderately successful because he has beautiful hands and some people are way into that.

He is also their guy when then agency and mafia have like game nights and feel like gambling a little.

Yosano and Kouyou are making very sexually charged eye contact and everyone around the table is just like 👀

“they’re either going to be at each other’s throats or someone’s waking up in the other’s bed tomorrow” Dazai says and Chuuya nods.

They’re both a little scared.

Kunikida is sitting awkwardly with Kajii who’s trying to convince him to bomb the place and run away with the money.

Fitzgerald, Mori, Fyodor and Fukuzawa are at the big bois table, engaging in big brain high stakes gambling, because they can, and they mean business.

Fukuzawa does not want to be there, he’s not that kinda guy, his boyfriend made him do this, and is internally panicking.

He is winning.

The kids are somewhere else having a game night of their own. Atsushi, Lucy and Akutagawa are playing Mario Kart and are at each other’s throats constantly.

Steinbeck is teaching Kenji, Kyouka and Kyusaku how to play Stardew Valley.

Tachihara, Higuchi, Gin and Mark are playing COD.

Junichiro, Naomi, Louisa, Edgar, Ranpo, Margaret and Nathaniel are playing monopoly.

Ed is in jail.

If one where to describe y/n, they would describe him as the most adorable child from the agency.

You were just 10-12 years old, with a charming innocent smile that melts every agency heart, heck even Kyouka heart as she view you as a younger brother.

Which lead to the question of the suspicion of your ability. The main reason why you are in the agency.

At first Dazai was curious of why a child in the agency maybe, someone brother? He assume but later on he caught up that your ability to control someone movements like a puppet is truly magnificent and dangerous.

He was reminded of Yumeno, the child at the mafia who can mind control others who have hurt him but yours were worse in a way as an unknown force seems to work for your part as it is known as force manipulation.

(I'm not that sure how Makima ability is since I didn't watch Chainsaw man and Some of her ability won't be mention as it is just going to brief one).

The more Dazai pry the more he realise the kid was not an angel but also a very demanding personality.

He realise that the flaw of you that every members on the agency sighed about leading Ranpo and you having childish tanthrums though Ranpo never won as you seems to cry out when he refuse to give you sweets.

"Can't you give me the choco-balls sweets?" You cried as Ranpo gaze away.

"No!"

"Wahhh! Ranpo-san is bad!!!" You cried and run away leaving a guilty Ranpo who later comes to you and handed you the sweets making you hug him happily.

"Ranpo-san is the best"

"Of course I'm! Don't ever forget that" he said proudly as you hug him while chuckling happily. Such a cute child you are.

The worst for Dazai was you love dogs, oh the audacity of you bringing a puppy into the agency hiddenly and it almost bite him!.

"Kunikida-kun! Who brought this monstrous thing!" Shouted Dazai escaping the puppy who seems to want to bite Dazai hand that was wrapped in bandage.

"Mo! Dazai-san" you pouted while holding your puppy who was waving its tail happily making Dazai pout.

"Not fair! You should like cats! Cats are the most adorable thing!"

"So? I like dogs they are cute!"

"So are cat!"

"They are loyal and tamable!"

"Ahhh! Take it away!" Scream Dazai while running away as you hold up your puppy tuning after him to pet it.

It was Fun to watch for Kunikida who first time enjoy Dazai misery

Maybe he will let the puppy come time to time to distract/punish the lazy potato from not doing work.

Well, regardless you were just a child with sweet personality but also a demanding, stubborn personality too.

But the whole agency knows that they would rather hide your ability rather than making the other organisation to target you.

Regardless that even president is like your grandfather or sort whom you cling onto on rare times to get sweets.

Most likely you annoy Ranpo to share his sweets, which leads the chaotic arguments.

But fortunately, Naomi brought two same flavour sweets so that you both won't argue about different sweet flavour which you haven't tasted is eaten by the other or sort.

You do have parents who left you astray but.. They did came to take you one time as you were taken a back.

The elders of the agency said they will speak with them as Naomi, Sakura, Kyouka, Kenji, Jun'churo and Atsushi took you away to play or sort as the others talk with your biological parents.

Well, let's just say you are just a kid, when you hear your parents left without telling you, you refuse to show how heartbroken you were as the agency members try to cheer you up which they succeeded.

You only hope your parents will come back to take you home, since.. Agency is good but you are not a detective and precisely your just 10-12 year old child who misses their parents warmed.

But that is only a hopeful thought as you are unaware that your.. Parents will never visit you ever again.

After all you belong to agency who can protect you, right?

"Don't worry, Y/n-kun we can go to the aquarium alright!" Said Atsushi as he notice your frown which turn to a childish smile.

"Really?"

"Yep!"

"Will the others come too?"

"Hmm? Why not ask them, shall we?" Said Atsushi who was the one succeeding on making you gleam happily.

The agency happily agreed to go.

Let's just say the port mafia were there to and Mori was confused and curious of Why Fukuzawa have a boy with him and why the whole crew of the agency in the aquarium?

Well, he was confused when Elise was the one approach you when you got lost around the aquarium as he approach you both.

"Elise-chan! I told you not to leave my hand!"

"But Rintarou! He is lost!" Said Elise who hold your hand as you were sniffling as Mori approach you.

"Say, aren't you the boy from the agency?"

"You.. Know them?"

"Yes, Do you want to come with us while.. We search of the agency member?"/

"Really?"

"Yes really" said Mori as Elise smile to reassure you and drag you with her as Mori just tag along.

Let's just say the agency were in panic in search of you.

And Ranpo was the one who use his glasses to find out where you were last been. But they found no one making the chaotic drama in the aquarium by the agency asking about your whereabouts to the people.

In suspicion that they might have kidnapped you or sort.

After all, your the most adorable kid, aren't you?

i know he’s a controversial character, but one thing i truly hope we see before BSD ends is a backstory for Jun’ichirō Tanizaki. it’s been said many times before and by many other people, but it really is one of the points i want to understand more.

obviously, both of the Tanizakis are rather mysterious in the grand scheme of things, with no backstory aside from being students, and.. this weird excerpt from the Untold Origins light novel.

(context: the members of the Agency are discussing ideas for Atsushi’s entrance exam.)

“Democratically, huh?” Yosano raised an eyebrow. “How about we do the same thing we did for Tanizaki? How’s that?”

Yosano glanced in Tanizaki’s direction, and he instantly turned pale, shaking his head.

“I—I don’t ever…want to be reminded of that again.”

When Tanizaki was new, he had to pass what could be called a very harsh entrance exam. However, it was so harsh that all of Tanizaki’s memories of that day ended up buried deep in his subconscious. Remembering what happened would only bring underlying trauma up to the surface.

his entrance exam was so harsh and genuinely traumatizing that any and all memories of it were pushed into the deep recesses of his own mind.

and, granted, a harsh entrance exam isn’t exactly new for the Agency. Kyouka barely didn’t die, Atsushi fully thought he was, and Dazai’s was over an act of domestic terrorism. but none of them were so traumatized that their own mind refused to acknowledge it. and despite all of this, Jun’ichirō describes himself as more of an assistant at the Agency, not an actual detective.

he’s also able to?? casually fly a helicopter??? it makes sense, given his natural aptitude for reconnaissance and stealth missions (see: his ability Light Snow, his adaptability, and his skill as an actor.) he’s not exactly confident in his flying skills (literally being called the “wimpiest in the east” by the manga,) but he’s good enough to be trusted with discreetly flying Atsushi up to the Moby Dick, a risky and essential part of the plan to take down The Guild.

we know that Jun’ichirō is a competent and useful member of the Agency, and it’s clear that the others think so as well. but he’s constantly putting himself down, describing himself as average and using his own supposed mediocrity as a way to make Atsushi feel better about himself.

his fears and self-doubt seem to nearly vanish entirely, however, when someone he cares for is put in harms way. we see this first when Naomi is shot by Higuchi, and later on when he hears of how Atsushi attacked Naomi and Haruno while under Yumeno’s ability. it’s also displayed when he manages to almost assassinate Mori during the Cannibalism Arc (a moment that is not talked about enough as it should be.) and, most recently, we see him freak out after the death of Kunikida, threatening to rip an actual God limb from limb.

this is also seen heavily in the Beast universe. (minor Beast spoilers ahead!! skip this paragraph if you don’t want them!!) Jun’ichirō is the first to fully support Akutagawa’s pursuit of his sister, and even tells him to abandon all morals and forget about his place in the Agency should his sister’s life ever be threatened. he’s also the one who follows Akutagawa into the Port Mafia headquarters, and the one to guard Kyōka’s unconscious body while he waits for Demon Snow to potentially assassinate her. Jun’ichirō even says “[Akutagawa] and I are similar.” after seeing all of his violent outbursts and reckless behavior.

his moral code is genuinely fascinating to me: he won’t hesitate to act in a way that’s commonly seen as immoral, so long as it preserves the Agency. he’ll stop at nothing to ensure the safety of those he loves, not even at his own death. considering this, in terms of reputation and completing their overall goal, Jun’ichirō is honestly kind of a liability to the Agency.

and that’s. honestly all we really know?

it seems like a lot, especially when i’ve rambled on for this long, but it’s really just five things: he has a sister, he was a student before he was a member of the Agency, his entrance exam was incredibly traumatic, he has self-confidence issues, and his morals are rather gray. again, five things.

almost every other member of the Agency has an extensive backstory. Kunikida’s is still rather unknown, but even then we have a good idea of what he was doing prior to Atsushi joining the Agency.

we know nothing about Jun’ichirō. i really do hope that we get to learn about his entrance exam, as well as what made him, and his sister by proxy, the way they are.
