one of the things I would love to make is a writer's bootcamp / critique circle where people get grouped together based on things like genre, age category, writing stage (i.e. outlining, 1st draft, editing) where you submit something weekly to show your progress and get critique or even just positivity from your group. and there would be deadlines to encourage accountability and getting. stuff. done.
is there interest in this? would anyone want to help me make something like it? i don't think I could do it on my own
edit: if you'd like to join, click here

Getting a head start on the Hosietober 2024 prompts that @uncleasad posted the other day. Not sure if I'll do all the days, so I'm just picking and choosing the ones that strike my fancy.
currently working on one, featuring the 2nd iteration of my Hosie fankids because I really wanted to write about Eli and Auggie ever since I first wrote about them in that post I linked above. After that, I haven't really gotten a chance to dive into Eli and Auggie's characters especially because I was so focused on my 1st iteration (Lana, Hayley and Jay, and Leo). Gotta give some love to the 2nd iteration!
I think I'll try and--at least for my picking-and-choosing the Hosietober 2024 prompts--have them all be somewhat Hosie family-focused (whether with 1st iteration of Hosie fankids or 2nd iteration of Hosie fankids) because I'm a sucker for fun Hosie family stuff. I already have some ideas for some of these prompts (am writing Day 5's prompt as we speak) so I'm excited to get right into it!

Idk if this will get anywhere or not, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyways ! IntWriMo stands for International Writers Month and is a discord server in which you can meet other writers, participate in activities, workshops and more to help better your writing skills! Throughout the year you can expect online workshops, camps and activities and in November a challange to write 50k words towards a novel or other type of writing project. This is not only a great opportunity to meet other writers and make some new friends, but also to better your writing skills! There are also several other challenges throughout the year - including but not limited to group word sprints, general challenges and writing prompts.
This server was created by myself and partner who have been participating in nanowrimo for years, but due to the policy changes allowing access to ai and ownership of the writing submitted, we wanted to host something similar without those aspects. This means none of your work is given to ai and all belongs solely to you! While there are more challenges and so on during November to celebrate national novel writing month, this is a year round server for writers! Come stop by and check it out, we are thrilled to have you! We have games, and challenges! And WE LISTEN TO THE ISSUES THAT PEOPLE BRING TO US!
Invite Link If the link does not work, and you would like to join, please lmk!!!

Hello!
Do you enjoy writing? What about talking with other writers? Are you looking for someone to read through your work, help out where they can? How about participate in world building exercises and character building prompts?
Well, I might have just the place for you.
Consider joining The Writing Desk. It's an 18+ writing discord server that will hopefully help you and others find people to cheer them on while working towards your goals.
Whether you write fanfiction, historical romance, medieval fantasy, nonfiction works, or academic papers you should be able to find your place here.
The server itself has sort of a dark academia aesthetic. We have four 'dorms' that might have something to do with points later on. They are:
• Gargoyle • Harpy • Unicorn • Wyvern
Some things included in the server are things like:
• Sprinting (both shorter and longer ones) • NSFW channel that is OPT-IN ONLY • A place for resources • Some non-writing channels for fun :)
There might be some events at times! Though you don't have to participate in those.
If this sounds good to you, The Writing Desk is here for you. Just follow the link. :)

NaNoWriMo live write-in (hosted on Discord)
Join our write-in for extra motivation to continue NaNoWriMo or to work on a writing project you have. Get inspired by your fellow writers to get through NaNoWriMo. Writing together has many benefits among greater accountability for your writing schedule and the possibility to get others interested in your story.
You can video stream yourself writing (or not), everyone will be muted, so we can concentrate on writing. We can chat over text and motivate each other through writing sprints. The goal is to have fun writing together, there’s no pressure to finish a piece or reach a certain word count. Remember: It doesn't need to be perfect, it is great because only you can write your story. Important note: Time will be adjusted to find a date and time frame in which most participating writers are available.
Reblog to spread the word. We are a small and supportive writing community and happy to welcome new writers!
Comment on this post to get an invitation link to our fun little Discord server. You will join a safe writing community where you can just chit-chat, bounce ideas off of one another, share and discuss your writing and art, and ramble as much as you want about your WIP. If you want, you can also stream your favourite writing music or participate in games. For further information, read our faq page or send an ask.
We will be your writing family when the world gets too loud.

Is anyone doing an alternative to nanowrimo? I want a place to track my progress but after the whole AI debacle I'm not so fond of using the website

So some people a while back indicated they might be interested in a general NaNoWriMo server to go to since the official one (and many subsidiaries as a result) went kaput.
Well, here's one! Not location or genre-specific, and welcoming to all content you like. Everyone is welcome whether it's their first NaNo or their tenth. Note before joining that anti beliefs/discourse is not allowed. We abide by DLDR here!
Join if you're interested!

NANOWRIMO CAMP CHECK-IN!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🏕️🍫"Camp NaNoWriMo Survival Checklist: Snacks, Sprints, and Scribbles!"📝🔥
Hey there, fellow campers!🌲🌟 Planning for Camp NaNoWriMo is half the fun, right ? So, grab your backpacks and let's make sure we've got everything we need to tackle this writing adventure ! Here's your essential survival checklist: I. Snacks: Because let's be real, no writing marathon is complete without an arsenal of snacks to fuel our creative genius. Think chocolate (for those emergency sugar boosts), popcorn (for munching during intense plot twists), and maybe even some veggies (for… balance? Let's go with balance). II. Coffee (or Tea, if You're Fancy): Ah, the elixir of life for writers everywhere. Whether you take yours black as midnight on a moonless night or with enough cream and sugar to drown out your existential dread, make sure you've got a steady supply to keep those creative juices flowing. III. Comfy Blanket or Writing Cape: Let's face it, writing can get chilly, especially when you're burning the midnight oil. So, pack your coziest blanket or writing cape to keep you warm and snuggly during those late-night writing sprints. Bonus points if it doubles as a superhero costume. IV. Emergency Plot Twist Generator: Because let's face it, even the best-laid plans can go awry. Pack your trusty plot twist generator to shake things up when your story starts to feel a little… predictable. Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility (and possibly a few confused characters). V. Extra Pens and Notebooks: You never know when inspiration will strike, so make sure you're armed and ready with plenty of pens and notebooks to capture those brilliant ideas before they vanish into the ether. Plus, there's something undeniably satisfying about the feel of pen on paper. VI. Campfire Stories (AKA Writing Prompts): Keep your creativity burning bright with a stash of campfire stories (aka writing prompts) to spark your imagination when you hit a rough patch. Whether you prefer tales of haunted forests or epic quests, there's a prompt out there just waiting to inspire your next masterpiece. VII. Sense of Adventure: Last but certainly not least, don't forget to pack your sense of adventure! Camp NaNoWriMo is all about embracing the unknown, pushing your limits, and discovering just how far your imagination can take you. So, strap on your hiking boots and get ready for the writing adventure ! Alright, fellow campers, that's it for our Camp NaNoWriMo survival checklist! So grab your favorite writing beverage (mine's a triple shot of espresso, no judgment here), cozy up by the virtual campfire, and let's make some writing magic together. The Fox's Den is open 24/7, so whether you're an early bird or a night owl, there's always a place for you here !!🦉✨ Ready to join our pack of literary foxes ? Shoot me a message for an invite, and let's embark on this writing adventure together !!🦊💻✨
