Please stop taking away Nancy's agency. Barb and Jonathan were the ones who were wrong. Nancy wanted to sleep with Steve. She bought a sweater, a new bra. . .she wanted to sleep with Steve. She had it all planned. She just wanted it to mean something to him. The takeaway here is that she didn't want to be like the other girls who slept with him before. Seeing those photos. . .she was uncomfortable with the idea that someone was there watching her, not with the fact that she slept with Steve. She got mad with Jonathan about the photos, and rightfully so, they were disgusting. It wasn't proof that she didn't want to sleep with Steve. Nancy made a decision, and she chose to sleep with Steve. Jonathan was wrong, Barb was wrong. She wasn't trying to be anyone else. She wanted to sleep with Steve, so she did. What she can't seem to handle is people judging her for it, and there's a part of her that was afraid Jonathan was right. He used her fear of turning onto her parents against her. I really hope Nancy Wheeler gets a badass monologue in season 5 about how she doesn't regret sleeping with Steve or being with him. She deserves it for all the shame she's received from Barb, Jonathan, Tommy, and Carol. Steve did not stop them, but he took accountability and apologized for it. Still, Nancy has gotten a lot of flak for sleeping with Steve. She doesn't deserve any more of it.

I made a joke tag on this post about how Nancy is genre-aware and can feel the arbitrary love triangle closing in around her but then I thought about it for a millisecond too long and— Nancy can’t shake it: The muggy, suffocating pressure prickling along her skin and cottoning up her lungs. At first it’s easy to ignore. She’s been shaking off the relentless crush of pressure in one form or another for years. They are bigger things to focus on, bigger mysteries to solve. So when she catches Dustin watching her and Steve with what she can only describe as wist she’s confused, but she lets it slide. She thinks, not without guilt, they really only spend this kind of time together when the world is ending. Maybe he’s nostalgic. It’s sweet, in a twisted, broken sort of way. She resolves to make more of an effort when this is all over, but right now everyone needs to focus on what’s important— But then she’s walking through the woods and Robin is talking about rekindling old flames that should have never been snuffed out and it jars her into a stutter step. Because what? Where did that come from? Robin wasn’t there when there was a flame, paltry and dim though it was. Steve’s always been kinder to her than she deserved, so maybe his version of events gave Robin a false sense of their compatibility. Even so, why? And why bring it up now? She can’t parse it now, so she latches to the one thing that makes hope spark in her chest: Robin calls her a friend. Robin considers her a friend. And it’s been so long since someone has earnestly, sincerely called her a friend, she basks in the warmth of it and almost lets herself forget how strange— And then Steve is smiling at her so sweetly and his eyes are shining so brightly and he’s telling her about his dream, about six kids and a Winnebago and she knows she’s meant to be charmed by it all but instead she feels like she standing at the gallows with a noose flush to her throat. When they get a brief moment of calm, she takes Eddie aside.
“Did you tell Steve we should get back together?” He grins, lopsided and smug. “No need to thank me, when it comes to matters of the heart I am but a humble messenger—” “Why?” “Why what?”  “Why do you think Steve and I should get back together?” Eddie blinks, his smile sliding off his face, and there’s a dull flicker of confusion in his big bright eyes, as if he just found himself caught somewhere he was not meant to be. But then it vanishes and he’s back to one, beaming and bombastic as he answers, “Isn’t it obvious?” “Explain it to me.” “I—” His tongue darts out to wet his lips and his gazes bounces across her features, scanning for the answer he thinks she wants. “Its...That’s what’s supposed to happen.”   “Eddie.” She doesn’t break eye contact, keeps her voice steady, encloses her hands around his trembling fingers.  “Dig deep. Why did you tell Steve we should get back together?” The color drains from his face, his eyebrows bowing in fear. “I don’t know,” he whispers. “I don’t know why I said that. I think...” His mouth falls open, working soundlessly, and he huffs out a shaky breath. “I think I wanted to say something else? But I don’t remember...I don’t remember what I, and then that came out instead, and I don’t know why I said it I don’t know why I said it Wheeler what the fuck?” “I know.”
“I’m wanted for murder I don’t care about your relationship woes! I didn’t even know you guys dated until after you broke up, and that was what? Two years ago?” “Almost three,” she says quietly.  “Wheeler what the fuck?! Is this...?” He drops his chin to his chest and waggles his hands in a faint circle. Because they are still connected, Nancy’s hands go along for the ride. “Is this him?” “No.” A righteous fury licks its way up from her belly, fanning out across her circulatory system. The muscles in her neck strain as she clenches her jaw. “No, this is something else.”
“What’re we gonna do?” “We’re going to fix it.” “How?” “I’m rewriting our plan,” she replies. And when she sets her shoulders and straightens her spine she feels the pressure that means to crush her push in.  And she pushes back.  “I’m rewriting all of it.”

Eddie does end up getting tattoos for them, surprisingly simple but powerful just to them: one each of their handprints. “you held me together,” he says when he explains it to Nancy. “it seemed right.” Hers is the first, one year after that horrible spring break, when it’s still just the two of them in Boston. The dainty outline of her hand wraps around his wrist, the shape of her pulling him up out of the darkness, out of hawkins, out of the muck that threatened to drown them both, etched in bold, implacable lines on his skin. She reaches for him when she needs to, fits her hand to the soft inside of his wrist where she can feel his pulse against the heel of her palm. If sometimes she needs to squeeze tight enough that she leaves a red mark behind, that's alright; it's the same shape of her hand, holding on.
Steve’s left hand takes up a good amount of the remaining unscarred space on his torso. It’s high up and off-center on his stomach, fingertips resting against the hollow beneath his ribs, thumb tucked carefully away from where the edges of his bandages once sat. It takes steve’s breath away the first time he sees it, the spot he used to touch so carefully to soothe Eddie’s flinches, remind him to stay still whenever Steve helped change his bandages after he was finally released from the hospital. There were so few places he could touch Eddie without hurting him, back then—it’s locked into both their minds, now etched into Eddie’s skin, the way it felt when Steve held him in place with one hand, the way his breathing would shudder and hitch and eventually calm into a slow, smooth rise and fall under his palm. “how long does it take to heal?” steve asks when he sees it new, because he wants to touch again so badly that his fingers tingle, wants so much to press his lips to that mark and breathe his own shaky sigh across ink and scars alike. Eddie smiles at him like he knows, like he wants that too, and tells him that it’ll take a few weeks to heal but it needs to be gently washed and covered with a little lotion in that time, and Steve doesn’t have to ask or offer, they both already know he’s going to help take care of it.
Robin’s seems like an odd placement, but the way she smiles and bumps against him with her whole body tells him that she recognizes it immediately: her handprint is stamped across his shin. When he was still in the hospital, some days it felt like the only place on his body that didn’t hurt so bad he could cry, when it seemed like every inch of his upper body was stitched closed and even his hands ached from the cold that wouldn’t leave him or the latest IV he had to have. But Robin was there, gentle grins and little trinkets to cheer him up, and always patting him safely just below the knee. She had her fidgets just like he did, tapping her fingers lightly over the blankets and providing a distraction. Bad news first, he’d said once, but every day she made it a point to bring him some good news, no matter how small, her hand pattering at his leg for his attention before she gave it to him. Now, safe with the hospital and the upside down and hawkins all behind them, the two of them make a habit of flinging their legs across each other whenever they share the couch, kicking and poking to establish who gets the comfier spot—and Robin’s hand ends up resting back on her spot, still tapping out her little fidgets in nonsense patterns that mean home.

I want a fic where Robin is adopted.
The only parents she has ever known are her own and the only time being adopted has ever bothered her was when Amanda St. James made fun of her for it in the third grade. But Robin told her that at least her parents wanted her and were not just stuck with her like Amanda’s parents, “And maybe that’s why your Mom and Dad are so unhappy all the time.”
She got in trouble for making Amanda cry and went back to never thinking about her birthparents. She had no interest in knowing anything about them and it stayed like that until she turned sixteen.
On her sixteenth birthday, her mom gave her a letter written to her by her birthmother. Robin doesn’t read it immediately, but eventually gives in to her own curiosity. She reads it over twice before her mind snags on a sentence, ‘I wanted to give you and your brother a better life…’ … you and your brother…. You and your brother…. You and-
“I have a brother.”
This eats at Robin, especially after her dad’s call to the adoption agency goes nowhere. It eats at her so much that she finally gives in – Fred Benson swears up and down that Nancy Wheeler is the best investigator on the school paper – and asks for help.
Nancy says yes and is maybe a little too invested in finding the truth, but honestly, Robin is having fun and she wants to find her apparent twin. She wants to know about his life. Settle the whole nurture over nature thing.
They hit a lot of walls, a lot of dead ends. They break a few rules and maybe commit a felony. They enlist Jonathan Byers to help and even Eddie Munson at one point because he knows how to pick locks, and it’s all for nothing.
One day when they have everything they’ve found spread out across the Wheeler’s dining room table, Steve comes over to pick up Dustin. He looks down at the whole mess and points at her birth certificate like, “Hey, we were born on the same day.”

AU where eddie and steve are going to have dinner with steve’s ex-girlfriend/longest best friend and her girlfriend/ steve’s bestest best friend and eddie is woefully under prepared.
the ex, nancy, works for some government agency, like the CIA or some shit and her digital footprint is nonexistent. eddie knows. he’s looked. there’s not a photo of her to be had anywhere.
even robin’s socials only have pictures that she’s barely in. a blurry picture of her hand holding a glass. her holding a menu in front of her face from across the table. shit like that. robin called it a soft launch.
well, actually she called it a “not really soft launch because everyone already knows about her so i’m not really launching the fact that i have a girlfriend so much as i am the fact that she’s her and because she’s her she can’t be photographed a lot at least not anywhere that’s going to be shared publicly but the principle is still the same as a soft launch where you would slowly post pictures with details implying that you were dating someone but you guys already know i’m dating her so it’s not quite that but that’s the idea. you know?”
eddie is impressed by her lung capacity.
eddie’s a bit of a hipster in his approach to social media as well, only posting grainy black and white photos of guitars or coffees or occasionally steve.
so he gets it. kind of.
so you can imagine eddie’s surprise as they’re walking up the sidewalk to the restaurant and he sees the female version of himself.
it’s cold out so they’re both wearing long black coats and boots. she’s got curly brown hair and is wearing a lot of jewelry. rings specifically, on the hand that’s holding a cigarette up to her mouth.
eddie does a double take when he sees it’s the same one he’s holding his own cigarette with.
steve calls down the sidewalk, “robbie! nance!”
and even the scowl that she wears for a split second before she realizes who’s yelling looks just like eddie’s own resting angry face, as steve calls it.
the only real difference is that she’s tiny.
where eddie’s pushing six feet she looks barely five and a half.
he’s brought a little comfort that by the fact nancy looks as shocked as he does. spending about ten seconds just staring at each other before he barks out a laugh.
he holds up a hand in front of himself and sees the recognition flit across nancy’s face as she catches on. raises her own and moves it in unison with eddie’s. turns her head to the side when he does and barely conceals her laugh.
“so i guess you’re eddie then?” and even her voice is strong and teasing in a way eddie’s knows steve likes because he’s told eddie he likes his.
he reaches out an arm to wrap her up in a hug.
“in the flesh and blood. the mysterious nancy wheeler, it’s a pleasure.”
he turns and looks at steve and robin where the former is flushed red in the face and has a hand covering his smile while robin is physically bent at the knees covering her laughter.
“stevie you never told me your ex could be my doppelgänger.”

Nanny au please.
WIP Wednesday! Make me write!
Snippet
“Then of course, Mrs. Henderson recommended me to her friends,” Steve said. “One of them said they would only hire me through an agency. My ex-girlfriend happened to work at a nanny agency while she was going to school and offered to put in a good word for me.”
Eddie raised his eyebrows. “That was nice of an ex. I don’t know if I have any exes that would do the same for me.”
Steve just shrugged. “We didn’t exactly part on the best of terms either, but I used to babysit her younger siblings and knew how good I was. Nancy Wheeler is nothing but logical. She knew I would be good at it.”
“I spoke to a Nancy earlier,” Eddie said thoughtfully. “She really went to bat for you.”

btw i’ve decided that if you’re a full fledged nancy wheeler hater that you’re actually delusional
and im NOT saying this because i obviously don’t agree, im saying this because ALL of their arguments are such insane reaches that its like…. i think you just want to hate her
i just saw someone argue that she’s useless…….. as if her initiative do go beyond convention hasn’t gotten them answers TIME and TIME again, even if she didn’t reach those conclusions entirely on her own??
you’re telling me they would’ve even HEARD of victor creel without nancy’s pressing? gone to speak with him without her preparation and planning? just because robin’s input led to the answer… doesn’t mean it’s only her discovery? its BOTH of their’s. the same goes for her insistence to find out what was going on with mrs. driscoll in s3.
this same person said that her plot in s2 didn’t make any sense. im sorry. how does one even begin to come to that conclusion? you find out that the actions of a government agency led to the unfair and traumatic death of their best friend and they just… get off without consequences? her parents were left to believe that she was just missing!
nancy got barb’s parents closure AND justice with her efforts (and jonathans). and people have the audacity to say she forgot about barb.
also joyce could’ve been severely hurt/killed by possessed will in s2 if nancy hadn’t been there goodnight

Bouncing off the cleaning point the anon made in the compromise ask
why is it that steve being a clean and tidy person is seen as something bad? both in his house/room being tidy and him being 'uptight' about his car. so many fics write steve being clean and tidy as if it's something the others have to break him of, that the way for him to be comfortable is to learn to embrace untidiness and clutter. that him being clean and tidy is a bad thing because its obvious that its a bad trait his parents forced into him.
what we saw of his house is it was very clean and tidy, so his parents are likely to be the 'house proud' type of people that keep everything neat and in order. and yeah, his bedroom was pretty neat and tidy too, maybe tidier than the average 16/17 yo boy, but not a big deal.
but the Wheeler's house was also clean and tidy. and Nancy's room was very tidy. no one acts like she needs to be 'broken' of the habit of being tidy, or acts like she's uptight for having a clean and tidy space.
i think what many fanfics are ultimately about are creating a steve harrington character (that often goes against canon), all so they can have other characters relentlessly mock and change him. i don’t know why tbh.
there isn’t really any canon evidence that steve is a tidy person. i suppose he keeps his room clean (though that was more the duffers not giving steve a real room), and he did ask if a needle was clean before being drugged against his will. so i suppose you could argue that he is. but it just doesn’t make sense to want to rid steve of this trait, it’s not negative!
unless of course, they want steddie to be together. because the fandom can’t seem to fathom steve and eddie having conflicting personality traits, and eddie is canonically a very messy person. but of course eddie can’t be made to compromise. so the fandom will just force steve to be uncomfortable until he inevitable gives in, and agrees to live in filth.
what this ultimately all goes back to is not giving steve any agency in his life. and just forcing him into an eddie double, all so that precious little eddie won’t have to change any aspect of himself or his life.
(nancy on the other hand is allowed to be uptight, because she’s much like eddie in that in a couple, the other character is forced to bend to her will, and the fandom doesn’t want nancy to have to change anything about herself to mix well with others.)

I hate when people say Steve getting back together with Nancy would be his "reward". I hate that take because by that logic, then any romantic relationship she has, Nancy is a reward for that person as well. Whether it's Jonathan, Robin, Eddie, Chrissy. . .etc. by saying that YOU are turning Nancy into an object. Hate Stancy, fine, but don't say shit like that because it's not even true. Nancy hasn't been afraid to tell Steve off in the past, and I think she's finally going to get her chance this season to finally say the words out loud on whether or not she wants to be with Steve. They've happened because of drunken ramblings, but she's never incoherently said the words. They're not trying to make Nancy Steve’s reward. What they are doing is giving Nancy a choice. . .they're giving her agency and even what Vecna showed her. . .it's Nancy's choice. It's always been about what Nancy decides for herself and the people she loves.

Okay so I had this idea for a long time, and by long I mean long..
So maybe reader is the adopted daughter of the wheelers and one years younger than Nancy but also a little older than Mike, and she was relatively a smart kid, she was in the year Nancy was, which made her great friends with Barbara, but she hated Steve as she felt that he was just using his sister, and the most famous thing about reader was that she was very protective of her siblings. But when Jonathan had a fight with Steve and reader got to know that he wasn't so bad when she saw him erasing all that stuff and even helped his sister, Jonathan and her to fight the monster in the Byers' house, reader became friends with him, but at the end of the season 1,reader was kidnapped by a secret agency, who had found out that reader had powers as reader was originally from England, and her parents were scientists, so when they were experimenting one day, reader came in their lab and accidentally drank a weird solution which made her have powers like Eleven and even controlling elements like water, fire, grass. Reader was actually a year younger than Henry creel, she was also great friends with him, of course she being the talkative one, the day Henry killed his parents? He also killed reader's, she ran away from him, which he obviously didn't like and she met with the same agency who had kidnapped her later on again, they had freeze reader in ice like captain America, but then one scientist opened her case and she ran away to an orphanage, where she met the wheelers. Now, reader comes back at the last episode of season Two, and she becomes friends with Billy, and grows a crush on him, (Billy and Mrs. Wheeler arc isn't here, just.. No..) and Billy offers her for a private swim session, when he sees her swimming, reader then agrees saying she already knew but extra won't harm, she also gets flashbacks of the time when she was forced to learn swimming in England's cold water by them when Billy asks her how she knew it so well, later on, she knew something was wrong with Billy and when Mike and his friends lock Billy in the sauna, reader tries comfort him, but when it gets activated she saves his brother and her friends, with the help of Eleven. She tries to help Billy but he runs away, She later on also meets Steve and the rest, who ere equally shocked to see reader come back, and she had turned more pretty, including the fact that she literally had to massacre the lab to come back, and she saved the rest of the children who were there with her, sadly Billy dies, which creates a huge impact on reader as Steve watches her break in the background, knowing that he sadly fell in love with her and then he also watches her fall for the freak Eddie, and become friends with Chrissy, and reader went to the upside down with Chrissy, so when Chrissy died and reader fainted, Eddie took her with him and hid, and reader introduced Eddie to them, when Reader went to upside down with Max, she wasn't able to find her, but then she felt a hand on her shoulder and saw Billy there, who guided her to his sister, reader helped max get out and Steve again had to watch as Reader mourned for Eddie as she kept mumbling 'Not again..' but then to everyone's shock, The upside down took over and two most unexpected people came out... Billy and Eddie
oh my god. this ^^ i love the ending sm. the depth omg >>>>

Stoncy Week 2023 Day 1 - Spy AU
Surveillance expert Jonathan Byers and weapons specialist Nancy Wheeler are a team. He shoots people on film and she just shoots them. Recruited out of college, they've been a perfect fit since training together for the Agency four years ago. They bonded over a shared pain, the loss of a sibling and a friend respectively - both attributed to Russian involvement. It's not the easiest job, but they do their best to trust the Agency and take satisfaction from their work.
When their next assignment arrives on a tape recorder and tells them that they are to team up with a couple of deep cover operatives, code named "The Scoops Troop," they But things become less simple when Nancy's comes face to face with her first love, Steve, and an old classmate.
Both long presumed dead.
Undercover specialists and code-breakers Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley are a team. He lowers defenses and she gets people to hand them the key to whatever the Agency needs, cracking them as easily as they crack codes. They're good at what they do, but neither of them wanted to be here. There are certain choices you can't make without getting attention and sneaking into a hidden Russian base and uncovering their plot over the course of a weekend is one of them. A gas explosion in a mall is a great way to explain away two missing teenagers. After many pointed threats and a year of training, Steve and Robin went undercover for the first time.
Eight years later, there's no one better. But while they have each other, it's a lonely existence. A fresh face and one from their past might just change things.
...If they can learn to work together.

Totally with you on a) the defintion of shipping and b) that it would not be narratively satisfying to have the show go in the Will and Mike get together direction, for all the reasons you listed.
The dialogue around it also makes it nearly impossible to find meta or even just discussions around Mike that don't centre the possibility of a romantic relations with Will and it's so frustrating. I love that little guy and I just want to talk about how much he loves his friends!
But then the first thing I created for this fandom was a byler breakup fic so... I'm probably not in the majority.
Anyway keep on trucking and I LOVE Robin and Steve's Epic Platonic Soulmate Mixtape <3
Ah thank you! Yeah. The series is grounded in the friendship the party has. That's the first thing we learn about them. It feels insulting to both the characters and anyone who likes the non romantic aspects of relationships when people insinuate that Will couldn't have a happy ending without dating Mike. (Mike doesn't owe Will a romantic relationship. Will doesn't owe Mike one!! It also feels insulting that people say there's going to be a time skip and I guess Will is still pining for him? Let him let go at that point Sheesh.).
The basis of any romantic relationship, especially in canon, between Will and Mike (or any party members) is a deep and strong friendship. Acting like those aren't as important is so rude to people and mischaracterizes them. Mike Wheeler loves his friends so much he would jump off a cliff for any of them. He would deny their death with the barest shred of illogical proof even when presented with a body. He would try to contact a girl for almost a year to see if she was still alive. He holds his friend's hand when it seems he's fading away, insists on going into danger to help with a distraction, and apologizes better to a friend than his girlfriend. He's a moody, angsty teenager, going through a lot of emotions and confusion, and can be an asshole even to his friends, but my god what are you doing if you deny Mike's platonic relationships mean everything to him.
It's also disregarding Will's relationships too! Like. El is his sister now!! You cannot separate that. Would Will want to date Mike even? Loving and wanting to date are different. Dating a sister's ex? Legit so many arguments are just saying El doesn't love Mike, and I guess implying she wouldn't give a shit if Mike stsrted dating a friend that became a brother who is also the only one as deeply connected to the Upside Down as her. It gives me the vibes of people like...taking away the agency El has in her own feelings and saying she loves Mike.
Maybe he just wants to be able to honest about his feelings. Get them off his chest. Keep his friendship with Mike but have everything out in the open, and they can work through that together. Strengthen their friendship and maybe be open to potentially dating in the future (there is an apocalypse on!) while also strengthening their friendship with El. So many people just. Ignore her and her feelings in all this, as though both Will and Mike have not showed they valued her feelings greatly. Why would that not factor in at all? Why would Will put his sister into that position? Would it not be awkward for Mike too?
That's why it wouldnt be satisfactorily executed in S5. The characters and the audience need time to process any breakup between El and Mike. Let them cool off and us register it. Another anon said if they were going blr canon route they should have ended mlvn in S4, and I agree. It needs Breathing room. Not just them breaking up and a two year time skip where we're told time has passed but for us it feels like nothing, so the impact isn't the same and it doesn't have the same satisfaction of knowing they've worked it out but just being told about it. If that makes sense?
Plus the series has struggled with ending romo relationships, and the only one starting that wasn't awkward or weird (Both Nancy and Jon AND Joyce and Hop have Murray be the catalyst which annoying and kinda lazy, not to mention the cheating) was Lucas and Max. That doesn't paint a picture of confidence in me. Sometimes a ship going canon is not actually good. Sometimes in fandom you are actually thankful a ship that honestly should have been canon by the end, or at least post-series didn't, because whatever the show runners would have done with it would have probably ruined whatever dynamic that made them compelling in the first place. it may feel like a betrayal or rip off at first, and would likely continue to, but with time comes a feeling of oh. Maybe it's better this way... Would come.
So yes. Seeing how people reacted to me simply saying that, by the end of the series, I don't think it could satisfyingly become canon, while prioritizing their relationships with each other, Not a lot of nuance is allowed, it seems. Though I'm sure many shippers are cool and chill, it's really just a few people who are loud about it that try to inhibit discussion or meta, it's a damn shame that the only discussion allowed to those shippers is when or how it will be canon. Where's the fun in that? Everyone can interact with fandom differently, and it's a shame some folks want to dictate how others do so.

Hiya, could I have a snippet for Adventures in Babysitting? Cheers!
(also, are you ok with receiving multiple asks from the same person?)
Of course you can! (And I would gladly take multiple asks, it's super flattering that you want to!)
“You know what this means, don’t you?” Dustin asked, knocking their heads together gently.
“That I have to call your Aunt Nancy again and see if she’ll babysit you?”
Dustin made a face. Nancy was great in all ways except with children and made no bones about how she’d rather do literally anything else. “I was going to say order pizza and watch Lord of the Rings to drown our sorrows, but uh… I guess you could do that too. But only if Mike is there.”
Eddie chuckled. The kid knew him too well. “I can ask, but as for the first part… I think that sounds great. Go get the menu, you can pick where we order from.” Dustin let out a cheer and raced off into the other room, leaving Eddie alone with his thoughts again.
Might as well get it over with.
He made himself get off the couch and unlocked the door to his study, the one that Annie had been so pressed to get into. Dustin would be using the kitchen phone, so Eddie sat down and grabbed the other line, the one that he only used for business. This probably counted, so he dialed the familiar number.
“Good afternoon, Nancy Wheeler speaking.”
“So formal,” Eddie teased, sitting back in his chair.
Nancy snorted. “It’s almost like you called my work phone. Is this a work call or a social call?”
“A little of both,” he replied with a sigh. “I had to fire another nanny. Caught her trying to snoop around for new material from the album. I think she was just a fan looking for something juicy, but you can never be too careful.”
“I can’t say I blame you. So, I guess that puts you into a bit of a pickle, doesn’t it?” He could hear the rustle of papers from down the line. “Which, I would love to help you with, but I’m heading out on assignment next week and will be gone for a month.”
Eddie groaned and let his head thunk down onto his desk. “Of course you are. I wish you all the best and I know you’re going to rock it, but I kind of hate you a little, just so you know.”
“Stop picking such shit nannies and babysitters, then.” Nancy paused, before she let out a thoughtful hum. “Okay, look. I know you’ve been with the same agency for a while now, but all it’s done is give you headache after headache. Why don’t you try a new one?”
"I'm listening."
