Today I'm having nanaimo bars. I went with Nestle Aero truffle nanaimo bar for these cookies. Unfortunately, during shipping it melted, so visually it's a complete mess, but I figure since the taste will be the same I can just cut out a segment.

These are somewhat soft with a smooth consistency. The flavor is, as one would expect, chocolate and coconut. Not as bad for me as just coconut flavor, but I can't say I enjoy these.

TIL that my housemate Ash had never eaten a Nanaimo bar, and in fact, had never even seen a Nanaimo bar and didn't know what one was.

me, brought up on the Canadian border: O_O me: Uh, here, let me give you some of mine, so you can at least try some. Ash: Wow, this is really good. Is that coconut?

Additionally, she is also a big fan of video games and has played the Mass Effect trilogy many more times than me and loves romancing her one true love, Kaidan Alenko ... a local boy for my bff and me, so whenever Kaidan rambles on about the view over English Bay or whatever, we're all nostalgic. But she's never seen the Pacific at all in person, much less Vancouver BC or the island or Victoria or anything, so we were talking about visiting Nanaimo as kids and she was like "oh, it's a real place?"

So we're planning to get passports so she can one day see her pixel boyfriend's stomping grounds, lol.
