The next game I play that lets me name a suite of characters, I’m naming them after crimes. The ones that aren’t collar-tugging in nature. I want to see what kind of dumb bullshit I’m yelling at Arson, Battery, and Money Laundering for doing this time.

Personal pet peeve in 40k novels or fan concepts is when a faction or subfaction has a generally well established influence in how characters are named and then a given author completely fucks it up. Tech priest names are broadly derived from the Russian Orthodox Church, Italian scientists, and/or scientific technical terms. The Death Guard commonly have monosyllabic names, are pronounced as they’re written, and tend to avoid the letter “I”. Blood Angels are named for Italian artists and biblical angels. Space Wolves are named like Orks name themselves. The Iron Hands have a naming scheme that is impossible for me to quantify but I can tell it’s there and someday I’d love to ask David Guymer about it. Like yes, maybe I am picky or my pattern recognition goes Brrr too hard, but if you slap a generic roman name on one more character who’s not an Ultramarine I promise you I will not read another word I’m sorry.

...Luthien really did not give two fucks about politics, huh? Anything anyone ever said about the Noldor in her presence just went in one ear and out the other. Like, she apparently couldn’t link the name of one of the major Noldor princes, who ruled some of the territory RIGHT NEXT DOOR to Doriath, to either his faction or the fact that HE IS A KINSLAYER. She doesn’t care about Iathrim-Noldor political tensions because she never notices that said tensions exist.

...You know what, maybe I WILL accept interpretations where Dior didn’t anticipate the second kinslaying, but ONLY because he inherited his mother’s political acumen.

Currently my living situation does not allow for fuzzy creatures.  But one day, when I own my own place I have a plan.

My first, and only dog was Tundra.  The next one will be Taiga, then Chaparral, and I will just work my way through the biospheres.

i think one of my favorite things about chai is that yeah he’s a scott pilgrim/marty mcfly/ben tennyson/generator rex but instead of being solely a power fantasy or the chosen one or some guy you can project on he’s a character that can be enjoyed by anyone, whether you like the previous kinds of characters or whether you just want to watch a lovable idiot smash things with the power of friendship and a trash guitar

The Porcelain Effigy Pokemon

It feeds on the life energy of those around it from birth, storing it inside its hollow fragile body. Upon evolution, however, it gains a more carnal desire to feed. The unassuming appearance it has draws in many before it opens its mouth to swallow the prey whole. It prefers meals smaller than itself, it stands at about 4 and a half feet tall, while the young stand at just 8 inches.

Despite this, however, they make for great Pokemon to keep around the house for protection in the Volya region. Using their psychic abilities to warp the perception of reality of intruders they lead them either to their demise if they are deemed a threat or are lead far away from the home if they pose no harm.

They are very protective over that which they consider family and will protect their homes and families with their lives. They’re also quite social among themselves, but can be a tad hostile to outsiders.
