STORY DESCRIPTION

The story of "Galaxy Express 999" is set in a universe where humans have learnt to transfer their minds, but not their emotions, into mechanical bodies and achieve immortality. This has created a divide between those who are mechanised, elites with machine bodies, and those who aren’t.

Hoshino Tetsuro (Nakagawa Akinori) is a poor unmechanised human who desperately wants a machine body that would allow him to achieve immortality and the freedom offered only to the mechanised.

COUNT MECHA'S STORY

In the original story, we only know Count Mecha as the antagonist that Tetsuro seeks revenge against for murdering his mother. In the musical, "Galaxy Express 999" creator Matsumoto Reiji expands on his story.

A turn of events lands Tetsuro in the past where he meets Prider, a normal human living on a planet that is under the control of mechanised humans.

Prider was part of the group of normal humans who had taken up arms against mechanised humans until he met Ryuzu. Through her, he learns that, like normal humans, there are good mechanised humans, and has since laid down his weapon with the hope that he can stop the fighting and bring a future of peace without using force.

Unfortunately, his childhood friend doesn't agree with his perspective, and has been trying to get him to rejoin them because she believes that the only way to achieve peace is to fight. It also doesn't sit right with her that he is now friends with Ryuzu, who she thinks he’s in love with. To prove him wrong, she attacks Ryuzu. 

But, things don’t go as planned. In protecting Ryuzu, Prider ends up being fatally wounded. 

His friends learn of a way to save his life: by finding someone who can give him a mechanical body.

Fast-forward to the future, Tetsuro learns that the mechanical body given to Prider to save his life came at a cost: it had completely taken over his personality and he was consumed with drive to kill.

The gentle man who Tetsuro had befriended had become Count Mecha, the cruel mechanical monster he was seeking revenge against for the death of his mother.

This leads to the tragic confrontation between Tetsuro and Count Mecha where Tetsuro tries desperately to save Prider. In those final moments, Tetsuro and Prider are finally reunited.

But, it is too late.

Frankenstein the Musical English Translation 1

This probably won’t be a regular thing, but I’ve fallen in love with the Gothic score of Frankenstein the Musical with is so catchy and all moody as hell. So here’s my English version of “The Great History of The Creation of Life” (imo the second best song in the show) and is meant to be singable. I just love how blasphemous this song is lel. You can find one of the Korean version here and the Japanese version here. My version is based on both the Korean and Japanese versions, but I’ve changed some stuff to fit the syllabus and so on (My syllabus structure is more similar to the Korean version). I’ll probably translate some of the other songs over time. Probably like 0 people will care, but I hope to get some feedback lol

STORY DESCRIPTION

"Galaxy Express 999", known in Japanese as "Ginga Tetsudou 999", is an award-winning classic series created by Matsumoto Reiji, who is also famous for space opera classics like "Space Pirate Captain Harlock" (which is set in the same universe as "Galaxy Express 999") and "Space Battleship Yamato".

The story of "Galaxy Express 999" is set in a universe where humans have learnt to transfer their minds, but not their emotions, into mechanical bodies and achieve immortality. This has created a divide between those who are mechanised, elites with machine bodies, and those who aren’t.

Machine bodies are incredibly expensive, but they are supposedly given away for free in the Andromeda Galaxy, which is located at the end of the line for the Galaxy Express 999, a space train that only comes to Earth once a year.

DESCRIPTION OF COUNT MECHA / PRIDER (SATO RYUJI’S CHARACTER)

Count Mecha, also known in Japanese as "Kikai-hakushaku", is a mechanised wealthy nobleman who hunts unmechanised humans for sport. He murders Tetsuro's mother in one such hunt at the start of Tetsuro's journey, and is one of the antagonists in the series.

The musical also expands on Count Mecha's story, telling of his time as a normal human before he gained his mechanised body: when he was Prider, someone who was beloved by the people around him.

2022-06-02 “It’s June” Hayakawa Seira blog [ENG]

Everyone Hello.

I’m 21 year old Hayakawa Seira from Osaka. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance ☺︎

It’s become humid so I’ve allowed myself to use the air conditioner at home.

It has gotten humid earlier than previous year.

It’s also June!

They year is almost half over. It’s shocking how quickly it’s just flown by.

 My upcoming musical will be performed starting on June 7th, and looking ahead to that I’ve been at practice almost everyday in May, but yesterday was our last practice day.

Watching them dismantling the set made feel kind of sad.

Everyday I look forward to going out and buying a delicious lunch but when I first started I was nervous and troubled by the people around me. But now, thanks to those kind people I don’t have the same kind of troubles anymore.

 Theatre Create, they have a lot of senior people and they do a lot of performances, I want to watch their performances often so I was really excited.

 The first time I met these members of staff was when I went to see Inoue Sayuri-san’s Theatre Create performance and we talked backstage. It feels like a millennia ago…

It’s a special feeling being able to stand on a stage that you’ve long wanted to stand on ^ ^ I’m so glad.

The microphone, it’s different from the ones that we use for our live concerts and since it’s so small I forgot to take it off. I need to make sure I don’t absentmindedly touch it. With the masks on you can’t really see the expression of the other performers so I’m kind of looking forward to seeing everyone without their masks on, on the stage.

 While going to practice I didn’t have that many opportunities to take pictures but let me do some introductions.

The other day before practice at another job I received flowers and Nakagawa Akinori said “Here, I’ll take a picture for you”. How kind of him.

At a sudden commemorative photo event I had a lot of fun and it was really cozy. Akkii-san’s singing voice is beautiful, I wish I could listen to it forever ^ ^

Here’s Yamadera Koichi and Toi Katsumi who will be playing Armando. Yamadera-san did the narration for the 1st day of the 10th YEAR BIRTHDAY LIVE. He has such a lovely voice ☺︎

It seems that Toi-san’s daughter is the same age as me, I heard a lot about her and her dad sounds like a lovely person. They’re both so kind and make me feel at ease.

 I hope everything goes smoothly going forward… Once we get to the stage I’ll send some pictures in my stage uniform.

I asked her for some advice regarding work and she listened earnestly to what I had to say, she’s so reliable. Since she has experience with musicals, she was easily able to understand my troubles.
