okay i need to get really obnoxious about the new nagisa and hiyori solos for a second

(before i go further i adore them, obviously. they are absolutely perfect for them and their character growth, all four of edens solos are, i am blown away by what theyve done with these and i could go on and on about how much i love them individually but in this post i want to go on about something very specific)

seeing hiyoris solo name, Accept My Love, i had some expectations for this song- namely that i expected this to be an overwhelmingly hiyojun song (in the way that other solos have obvious nods to important characters in their lives without being Explicitly About Them (Wandering Clown and Crystal Pleasure being obvious examples of this)) which i was excited for! and i think you can absolutely see it that way!

however!

there are also some nods in Accept My Love that feel more explicitly nagihiyo that have me absolutely struck- both in the references that seem to be links between both of their solos, and the links in Accept My Love that feel like theyre referencing back to some of the kiseki stories from ! era

i just want to pluck the examples i can think of, starting with just the solos (and also with the caveat that this is from one particular person's translations so there may be different interpretations, this is just me drawing conclusions from the ones ive found)

first, from nagisas:

poking at this, i can draw a parallel at the very least visually- nagisa finally stepping out into the world where the wind blows, and hiyori standing behind him calling to him to remind him hey, im right here, pay attention to me too...!

but then, going a little further

now this i dont feel i even have to say anything about. the obvious parallels between nagisa struggling with the concept that trying to connect with others being a sin while hiyori just lightly dismisses it as not even something worth considering. loving sigh

again, a very easy to make comparison. hiyori has always been light-coded, and light in the darkness is a very easy metaphor to make for human connection and love, but i like drawing the parallel regardless as its used in both of their solos

and now... i also want to bring attention to something else.

in kiseki revenge match, thats when hiyori talks about nagisas backstory, and in the midst of it all, he says this

thats how he describes nagisa. and i truly believe that it came from anxiety, and a sense of inadequacy. hiyori poured all of his love into nagisa, and it helped- it undeniably helped, and nagisa has stated as much time and again, that hiyori brought him to life, that hiyoris light saved him, that hiyori is his sun. but hiyori alone couldnt be his whole world (no one person can, even if theyre soulmates (which they are (to me))) and so hiyori, whos sense of self worth is tied to his ability to love and to be loved and to heal, felt insecure over it and started to see nagisa as hopeless. as a bottomless hole.

this now brings me back to Accept My Love

do you think there is a limit on how sunlight radiates?

this is so, so stunning to me- because hiyori has come so far, because he believes that his love is endless and healing, because- reading it the way that i am- he can see his love as enough, that his love and giving it isnt hopeless anymore. and he wants to give it! he wants it to be received! accept my love!

it shows hiyori in her yellow hoodie, which both according to the anime and the mvs, is what she planned on wearing for the concert. thinking now since the anime had lxl do it bc "nagisa" was an ft4 fan (i think i may be misremembering this bit) i wonder what spurred the girls to dress her up for the occassion (even funnier to consider nagisa was wearing a hoodie too)

whyyyyyyy are we having a switch-eden tour when BOTH the switch and eden climaxes are still yet to happen

I found the natsume and ibara 5star choices odd too at this time but oh well. There is definitely going to be one more tour, my bet's on valentines day, but im not sure on the order of climaxes...

My theory rn is 1-1 the ibanatsu tour, 1-2 kanata climax, 2-1 sora climax, 2-2 valentines day tour, 3-1 tsukasa climax, 3-2 nagisa climax (march could be swapped depending on when checkmate anime comes out actually), 4-1 alkakurei tour. Wait but this leaves one more event in the rotation for 4-2 right? The new one always starts at the end of april/ beginning of may no? So.....what event am i missing......... maybe you are getting that mam event afterall lmao. Or not actually im taking it back from you we're getting the first kaname center event. I said so, and it must happen. I think a mam climax would be redundant, we already wrapped up for him in the double face event, where he realised he needs a new identity and cant in fact me mama (Also, the df album already had the mam songs and his solo. So from a marketing perspective theyre not gonna do a surprise mam climax, i dont think. But who knows what happyele are thinking, truly).

— Since the entire student council was present and the library was notably crowded with students who had signed up for the lecture, [Name] entered the library on her own.

She felt guilty, having to ditch her plans with Karma after an unresolved argument they decided to brush over. To make matters worse, she has to sit through a two-hour session and watch Ren shamelessly flirt with every girl in the room. On the brighter side, this ordeal counted towards her volunteer hours.

"You're late. You missed my introductory speech."

"My fault, I'll make up for it by working extra hard!"

She mentally thanked Karma for convincing her take the longer route, saying, "It's not a big deal if you're 10 minutes late... or 30." It was impressive how Gakushuu's speeches managed to put her to sleep every time, missing it was a win in her book.

Koyama called him over, something about a broken printer and an angry librarian.

 ...aaand she was all alone again.  [Name] decided to go check on the group at the back table.

"Oh, [Name] made it—she can help us!" The first year, Chisa blissfully smiled.

"But I wanted Asano to help. [Name] could you please ask him to?" Chisa's friend insisted, clearly not as enthusiastic about the anyone-whose-not- Asano's arrival.

[Name] tried not to let it bother her, being the only girl in the student council came with a lot of pressure.

She’s just as helpful and capable as the rest of the group but no one seems to acknowledge it. Everyone calls them the “Big Five” even though there’s technically six of them as her scores tie with Seo.

The girl groaned and sulked laying her head on the table. Chisa looked apologetic for her friends dramatics. [Name] offered them a polite smile and said, "Let's get through your assignments then."

“Im also all of those things.” Maehara jokes, cautiously this time, using Rio as a human shield.

yo its been a bit but im back again with the nagi harem question. so i was on tumblr and saw ur post on hiromi and it got me thinkin on how theyd react to her. like in canon everything kinda just, blew over. Like everything she did and even trying to burn the school building down and just the talk at the end of the festival thing and that was it (i dont remember too much, i dont like her and its been a bit since ive watched AC). In canon im guessing everyone didnt wanna interfere too much, cause its his family stuff. But if he's got a protective harem then it might take a bit of effort to get them to not do anything to her, especially the ones also coming from terrible parents.

Its nagisa so he would still care about her like

Kaede-chan is, frankly, terrified of Hiromi. ^^;;; Once you get past her arc with the tentacles, there's nothing protecting her from that crazy woman. ... Even if Hiromi does mellow out and isn't prone to... screaming as much anymore. Kaede-chan doesn't wanna poke that slumbering bear, and prefers keeping Nagisa from "home" as long as possible~... She tries being open-minded for Yukiko-chan and Nagisa's sake, but she's very leery. After all, she left her sister to someone like Yanagisawa, and that ended up badly... ^^;;;

Yukiko is one of the ones with most experience in working with difficult parents. She understands Nagisa's feelings the most about wanting to stay with Hiromi, even if his mom has hurt him over the years.

Rio-chan's at the forefront of those not okay with Hiromi, even after she mellows down. Kinda hard to "forgive and forget" when the mom goes and dresses Nagisa up like a girl for years, making him grow his hair out and act like he's the "girl" Hiromi always wanted... Rio might be guilty with regards to crossdressing Nagisa, too... But that was never serious for her or a jab at Nagisa's manhood or anything like that. She might tolerate Hiromi because Nagisa wants them to try getting along with her, but Rio's always on the watch for any relapsing.

Rinka's kinda like Rio in that regard. ^^;;; She's used to strict parents, too, but what Hiromi did was... very extreme. She'll grudgingly give Hiromi a chance cuz Nagisa wants them to, but Rinka is definitely keeping a watchful eye out...

Yuzuki-chan... Probably closest to a neutral party you'll get. She doesn't like that Hiromi's been abusive for years, so she understands where Kaede, Rio, and Rinka are coming from with their distrust. But she can also understand Yukiko and Nagisa wanting to give second chances. Yuzuki tries going with what everyone agrees with, as much as possible.

Touka-chan... She's in Kaede, Rio, and Rinka's camp. Doesn't forgive easily. And like Rio and Rinka, Touka isn't above speaking her mind when Hiromi gets frustrated with Nagisa about something. Doesn't want any relapses to happen here; no more crossdressing, accept Nagisa for who he is. :3

ok so i wanna just talk ab the madohomu garden scene bc its literally so important. madokas love is rly portrayed here so well bc its clear that homuras fucking lovesick but like madoka is also so gay. like. howd they name tje last episode of the series "my very best friend". snyways we see madoka exhibit healthy communication behaviors (ifu want u can always talk 2 me im here 4 u i migjt not be able 2 help but its better than dealing witj it alone) n u can see how badly dhe wants to help homura n tjen tjeshot wjere u csn see the wjole garden n both of thrm n the cityscape ⬇️

shows them as equals (foreshadowin?) esp cuz weve almost always seen homura viewinh madoka as infinitely above her esp considerinh the god stuff but rn they can be human and full of flaws n juzt overall equal rn and tjats beautiful fr. anyways hmura had a "dream" (the plot of the series) n madoka hears about how lonelyn sad n scared homura felt n how she felt that she was lying 2 herself for so long and homura runs down the hill and collapses, placing her below madoka kaname once more. madoka places tjem at the same level again, but fails to see how real this "dream" was. madoka as she is now thinks that this is just a dream, just something fabricated by homura - as homura thinks madoka was for so long. and madoka says tjat she could never do that - not to homura, someone whos so strong and capable, she could never make her cry snd could never leave her friends behind. and homura can tell tjisisnt true because to her it was real, to her it happened in real time right before her eyes after 12 years worth of tryinh to save madoka over and over and over. "you know how wimpy i am, and because i could never do something that would make someone as strong as you cry like this." n in the dub madokas like "it would bresk my heart" but in the sub homura says "then for you, thats something that hurts you so much you couldnt bear it?" and madoka agrees and homura fails to see that madoka kaname, without her memories, doesnt grasp the realness of it and solidifies the idea in homuras mind that the real madoka would never willingly leave her behind, regardless of the circumstances.

and the moonlight shines over tjem like a spotlight and homuras reality has been shattered. madoka doesnt realize tje weight of her statement and homura in this moment knows that she is the witch. and shes put the only person shes ever cared about in jeapordy. and it cuts to different scenes of them talking, before homura eventually has the information settled in- like this was the last piece needed to set in place tje rest of the story yk? and dsrkness spreads over the flowers, and she begins to blame herself - how could she let the most amazing person leave? how could she fuck up that badly by letting her escape? and homura tells her that, no matter what, madoka kaname is capable of making "yhat hard decision" andthe flower petals fall and the core-thingies glow and rise dandelion style and leave the field empty, showing that nothing else matters to homura and madoka is confused af! cuz she doesnt remember and homura knows deep down that shes holding the real madoka and you van hear the bliss in her voice and her expressions and its so goddamn powerful. but she has to go now, has to confirm her suspicions. and i honestky think that this scene is felt throighout the rest of the movie and this scene is where homura realizes that if she is the witch she has to die here so that she doesnt do yk what she does do to ultimate madoka bc clearly she understands that its wrong logically but also after knowing that the incubators want to control madoka that seems like its the best thing she could do to protect her yk? anyways i love this scene this is my favorite scene in the whole franchise fight me.

unpopular opinion — hm . like most of the newer charas i think ppl pass judgement onto them tok quickly and dissolve the rest of their characters for stereotypes which is well. Bad. like i barely see ppl talk abt niki's disability which often gets conflated for comedy but he has so so much depth as a character i want to put him on a table and dissect his thought process. i also want to give him a hug and bake a cake w him. i just think ppl shld crack out of their "rhis character is like this!!" view because it devalues any potential for further character expansion which is one of the things i wait for the most in niki!!
