Ive seen the post about Quinn dealing with 3 female companions on the timeline and laughed at it. But then I remembered the fact that a Female consular has to deal with 4 male companions, 2 of which are constantly vying for her attention aboard her ship.

 Qyzen, the trandoshan who leaves “trophies” strung around the engine compartment and shed randomly around the ship that C2 has to pick up. And who tends to stay a bit too close to her with the other males around. The consular can't tell if it's a territory thing or if he thinks they're a threat to his “herald”. 

Tharan who leaves his various contraptions out in the open, some which are most definitely explosive, spends an hour in the refresher in the morning and constantly complains about the other “brutes” aboard the ship. Though he is the main one who keeps the Consular company when she comes back weary and dazed from shielding another jedi, and creates a special device that helps her regain her focus faster. Then holliday likes going through the ships mainframe and scaring the shit out of poor diplomats who are invited aboard.

Zenith who likes to stand in dark corners and glare at the other passengers as they converse. The consular has to make a habit of taking his blaster from him when the diplomats are around. And when the consular gets up in the middle of the night she tends to get the piss scared out of her when zenith randomly appears, still coiled a bit too tight from his nights on balmorra.

Then Iresso who tends to get in scuffles with Zenith, both too high stung for their own good and sleeps with his gear on, not yet used to being out of the freezing temperatures of Hoth. He also tends to stay up late, his headaches keeping him from sleeping well. Makes a decent Caf though, and shares it with the Consular.

The constant fighting between Iresso and Tharan over the Consulars attention gets so bad that they make a competition out of it. Zenith is not amused. And meditation is almost impossible with the amount of testosterone in the air. Nadia is her only solace, but even she is just a teenager with habits that the consular has yet to fully understand from her species. 

Not to mention the poor girl trying to keep the most prominent figures in the galaxy from ripping each others throats out aboard her small ship. Its a mess, but she is trying her best.

Ok I want to talk about Izalia because I love her so much. 

* She doesn't want to admit it and she considers it a weakness, but she was really relieved when her request to train as a Jedi Sage instead of a shadow. She is almost certain that as a Sith who served the Jedi Order instead of the Sith Order, Especially with all the attention the overseers on Korriban paid to her, that if she were to try and work as a shadow, she'd have assassins after her head within hours. Also she likes being able to heal people and have options other than fighting. 

* She does really like a good fight though. She enjoys knowing what she's capable of and challenging herself and her skills. 

* Izalia gets very flustered when she finds out that Kira is a Jedi and even more so when she finds out that Zohla was assigned as her temporary master. She keeps telling Zohla that she should meet up with them so that she can talk to her, but is also is a little bit evasive about it until Zohla lectures her and Yuon gives her some advice. 

* She joins Zohla and Kira when they go to talk to the council and reminds the council that how someone is born doesn't define them. She understands Master Kaedans concerns, especially considering the actions he's best known for, but she took hours of sith lightning for Kira before, talking to the Jedi Council is easy, even when they are angry. 

* Once she gets over her concerns and hesitations regarding speaking to Kira again, the three of them become very close. Kira becomes very much a little sister to both of them and Izalia would tear the galaxy apart for Kira if she needed to. She would do the same for most of her friends. 

* She isn't the biggest fan of Theran. She appreciates his intelligence and appreciates Holliday, but she thinks it's kind of gross that he hits on her as much as he does when he's at least old enough to be her father. She could handle that, she doesn't like it, and shuts him down every time, but she is aware of his attempts, but isn't swayed by attention. Soden had made sure she attended all of her classes as she'd prepared to leave the creche and both he and Master Yuon had been very protective of her when she was younger and she extended that same devoted protection to Nadia when she took her on as a Padawan. It was one of the only times Theran was truly scared of her, he decided to hit on Nadia and she unleashed a display of power around him that made certain he never tried that again.

* She absolutely adores Yuon. She’d been her padawan for years before Tython and even though most Masters are parental figures to their padawans, Izalia feels like Yuon is everything her mother never was. Her illness was awful for Izalia and had moments where it nearly pushed her to the dark side itself. But she knew that as sick as Yuon was, nothing would have disappointed her more and so she does her best to control her emotions.

Main story: The firstborn and only daughter of Viscount Tethras and his Viscountess, the Lady Inquisitor Velahris Lavellan, Nadia was born several months after her mother reunited with Solas and disbanded the Inquisition. THE BURNING SHADOW, the sequel of The Darkest Star from the Origin Series, kicks off right where we were left in the first book. Evie is still trying to come to terms with all the revelations about herself. That she's not really Evelyn Dasher at all, but instead Nadia Holliday - a girl who had a life threatening cancer but was saved by a serum containing alien DNA. Evie still has no memories of her past life as Nadia - or her past with Origin alien Luc. That doesn't help much with her blossoming feelings for him considering Luc loved Nadia and Evie doesn't know if he loves her for who she is now, too. You would think that would be enough for a girl to deal with, but things are never that easy in this world. A strange disease is sweeping the nation and all signs seem to point to the Luxen aliens of being the ones spreading it to humans - causing numerous casualties. Are the Luxen really the ones responsible for this flu-like virus? And why does it seem like this illness is somehow connected to Evie and her past? You'll have to read and figure out this mystery for yourselves ;)

KEEP READING UNDER THE CUT

If any of you thought the first book of this series was crazy, wait until you get your hands on this story. The stress level of reading this book was basically at 100 most of the time. There was never a dull moment. One thing would happen after another. I felt kinda bad for my babies Luc and Evie - they could never catch a break. It made the story exciting though so I can't really complain. The mystery of the virus affecting humans kept me reading non-stop because I just wanted answers. I wanted to know what it was, how it was spreading, and what it had to do with our girl Evie. Because as you read you see that there is a connection there. That's a big reason I couldn't put the book down because I just needed to know. JLA always delivers a good mystery in her paranormal/sci fi novels. And she's so good at making everything connect to each other that when you finally get the answers you think, "how did I not see this before?". Though I will admit I did guess like half of what was going on - I thought it was obvious. But overall the plot was interesting and exciting and with how things we left, I want book three NOW PLEASE!

Luc and Evie were so great together in this one. I shipped them even harder this time around. They had so many swoon-worthy moments. They made my heart melt and also made me get a little flushed because...dayum - you'll get it when you read it. Their connection really shined all throughout the book. And Luc stepped up his book boyfriend game, too. Dare I say he's giving Daemon a run for his money? Nah, let's just love them both!

I'm sure Lux series fans will be happy to know this book is full of cameos for your favorite characters! I got so giddy whenever they showed up. The cameos were so worth it! You will love seeing them all again. And from the looks of it, I think they will be more involved in the series from this point on which means more content of them! Yay!

So guys, when October 8th rolls around, definitely get yourself a copy of this. The story will suck you in from page one. You will laugh, swoon, get your heartbroken a time or two, and go on a thrilling ride with characters you've loved and ones you have come to love. You won't regret it!
