I haven't sewed any garb for many years, but luckily my costuming mentor @mysteryoftheuniverse will soon be here to guide me!

Of course given my age, it may be more appropriate to cosplay what 1895 Velma would look like in the 1920s or 30s.

If I were one to care about propiety of course, lol.

Lexa’s Locks #1

Alas, my hair has grown more gray and fine, with a good bit less up front. Be that as it may, I do have some very simple go-to styles for lounging at home.

The most basic include a simple ponytail or braid. Slightly more involved is this pencil-bun, which @mysteryoftheuniverse​ taught me a while back:

I can do it with a single pencil, but by using two, I can pull one out to jot down a quick note without it falling apart!

(Also, looks like it’s time to trim the wispy stuff at the nape...)

Plus a special bonus video that was the first song I chose before realizing it was supposed to be the first five from random shuffle, Pierangelo Bertoli e Tazenda "Spunta la luna dal monte". This is a contrapuntal rendition of "Disamparados", a beautiful Sardinian song by Gino (aka Luigi) Marielli sung alongside with Italian lyrics by Pierangelo Bertoli. It placed 5th at Sanremo 1991, and I love it sooo much. The video below has the lyrics in both languages overlaid onscreen, which is great for a langblr girl like me so I can read along.

HIDDEN AGENDAS IN THE ABORTION DEBATE: men who will feel much more comfortable when women are dependent on them again; the Religious Right who are not saying out loud that women seeking abortion are sinners, or that the medical procedure to excise a fertilized ovum is killing a human soul, though their agenda is imposing those judgments on nonbelieving women; those who are saying they will help and support women after they have borne their child but more often offer pressure to put babies up for adoption into “good Christian homes.” This all adds up to a chain of indirect coercion which seeks to draw people into a new incarnation of widely rejected social norms.   #rowegreentree    @mysteryoftheuniverse

I usually don't do these sort of things, but I know I can certainly benefit from a little more happiness, so here goes.

1. Laughter with friends

2. Spontaneous joy

3. Mornings when I reach that point where I don't mind so much being alive (this often involves coffee)

4. Following wild paths of discovery that in the end leave us wondering how the hell we got from here to there, and that fleeting moment were we see the whole shining, winding thread and go "oh yeah!"

5. The inside jokes arising from #4 above the we share the rest of our lives and use to make us all bust out laughing while other folks go wtf

And a bonus 6. Movies, stories, songs, games, art, poetry, acts of caring etc. that make me cry the good kind of tears (which tbh I do rather readily)
