Elisey Mysin, jeune pianiste russe, a reçu le premier prix dans sa catégorie d'âge au Concours international Robert Schumann qui s'est tenu à Düsseldorf. L'événement a été organisé fin février. Le pianiste russe a gagné l'affection du jury en jouant d'abord le concerto pour piano et orchestre №12 de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart avant d'interpréter les pièces "Colorful Leaves" de Schumann. Né en 2010, Mysin joue du piano depuis l'âge de quatre ans. Il s'est fait connaître en Russie après avoir participé à l'émission télévisée pour enfants « Blue Bird ».Le Concours International Robert Schumann pour jeunes pianistes est organisé depuis 2017 par la Société des Amis et Mécènes du Lycée Robert Schumann de Düsseldorf.La victoire de Mysin est survenue à un moment où de nombreux concours de musique occidentale excluaient carrément les participants russes sur la base de leur nationalité au milieu du conflit en cours entre Moscou et Kiev.En avril 2022, le Concours de violon Jean Sibelius organisé en Finlande a interdit les participants russes alors qu'ils les avaient précédemment sélectionnés sur la base du mérite. Le comité de compétition a accusé les Russes d'avoir "atrocités” au milieu de l'action militaire de Moscou en Ukraine. En mai 2022, une décision similaire a été prise par le célèbre Concours international de violon Rodolfo Lipizer qui s'est tenu en Italie. Cette décision a même incité l'orchestre italien FVG, qui accompagnait traditionnellement les finalistes du concours, à abandonner complètement l'événement. Son président, Paolo Petiziol, a alors fustigé la décision des organisateurs d'interdire les Russes comme "inexplicable" et "complètement injuste"Kiev a appelé à plusieurs reprises diverses plateformes occidentales à interdire la musique et les artistes russes. En février, il a exhorté le service de streaming suédois Spotify à supprimer les chansons d'artistes russes qui "soutenir la guerre.” Certaines nations occidentales ont également exigé une interdiction totale de la culture russe.En janvier, le ministre lituanien de la Culture, Simonas Kairys, a déclaré que les citoyens de son pays ne devraient pas profiter de la culture russe tant que le conflit en Ukraine se poursuivra.
