⚠️ WARNING: My 2 next recommendations are going to be a bit sketchy 😂

🎡🎠 I can’t always show you the luxury hotels if you really want to see the different layers of a country. In different forums I found that there was an abandoned amusement park in the middle of Yangon City, in Myanmar. & it obviously sparked my interest right away. If you are on the more adventurous side, there are locals on the side of the road that you will have to ask nicely/pay to show you the way. Online they say there are stray dogs and snakes but I didn’t see any (I went in October, which is already pretty hot). It’s South of the Zoological Garden.🌿

I’m not sure about how safe this is, so it’s at your own risk if you want to try, I personally had a fun time. 🤷🏼‍♀️

. . This is Htang Ling Khaw Kay. He is approximately seventy years old and is only one of two men in his village of Kyardo that continues to use the traditional dress. However when he visits the larger town of mindat he changes to a more modern attire. He explained how he does not feel comfortable in traditional clothing in bigger towns where everyone walks around in more modern clothes. Apart from hunting rabbits with his bow and arrow he cultivates he own food. The bow and arrow has also come in handy in the past as a form of self defense. . . Sunset at Sule Pagoda in Yangon. I've been following the news out of Myanmar since last night and I'm worried and disappointed. When I visited the country in 2015, I encountered a nation rising from decades of military rule. What I found was a beautiful country full of hope and promise after only a few years of democracy. It wasn't even possible to travel there for many years; due to the isolating politics of its military junta and shutting itself off from the international community. Over the last few years there has been lots of changes and despite lots of problems that obviously still exist (the Rohinga question) and extensive poverty - it is a beautiful country to travel, with awesome cultural sights, great food and friendly people. Leaders of that government, including State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint, were detained, and tanks rolled into the capital Naypyitaw, setting off a crisis that shows no signs of ending. ○○○ Pray for #Myanmar 🙏🙏🙏 ○○○ ~~~~ The Shwezigon Pagoda or Shwezigon Paya (ရွှေစည်းခုံဘုရား) is a Buddhist temple located in Nyaung-U, a town near Bagan, in Myanmar. A prototype of Burmese stupas, it consists of a circular gold leaf-gilded stupa surrounded by smaller temples and shrines. Construction of the Shwezigon Pagoda began during the reign of King Anawrahta (r. 1044–77), who was the founder of the Pagan Dynasty, in 1059–1060 and was completed in 1102 AD, during the reign of his son King Kyansittha. Over the centuries the pagoda had been damaged by many earthquakes and other natural calamities, and has been refurbished several times. In recent renovations it has been covered by more than 30,000 copper plates. However, the lowest level terraces have remained as they were. This pagoda, a Buddhist religious place, is believed to enshrine a bone and tooth of Gautama Buddha. The pagoda is in the form of a cone formed by five square terraces with a central solid core. I am not a huge fan of travel guides. Honestly, they are fat & 50% are recommendations for hotels, which I rather book in advance based on online reviews. So once I am somewhere, I tend to rely on the internet & locals’ vague or mistranslated recommendations. 😝

Holy shit. Gorgeous! & the service was amazing. It definitely is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve seen in my entire life. If you are looking for the most Instagrammable hotel in Bagan, Myanmar look no further, this one is for you. (I will post more about it later too). 💥

Day 1 in Myanmar - Mandalay: It was our first day in Myanmar and while we were exploring Mandalay, we saw many female faces with some white colored design on them. They looked differently pretty. Outside Sandmuni Pagoda, I asked a woman what is it? She, with a smiling face, put the design on me. Maybe she didn't understand that I just wanted to know what's it called. Our local driver told us it's called Thanaka. Thanaka is an ancient secret of beauty of Burmese people since thousands of years. It is a yellowish-white cosmetic paste made from ground bark. It is a distinctive feature of the culture of Myanmar, seen commonly applied to the face and sometimes the arms of women and girls, and is used to a lesser extent also by men and boys.  We do full and half-day tours for Mandalay and other parts of #Myanmar.
