… fox fox the dæmon?

Yes!! I had this idea that in the Our Souls AU members of the Ravkan royal family don’t name their dæmons until they settle into their adult form (to encourage a ‘respectful’ detachment from their dæmon)

Naming his dæmon Reynard (since the name means fox) means that Nikolai fully embraces the fact that his soul has taken the form of a fox, and his behaviour will reflect that - he will be cunning and wily like a fox

Height gap romance except the shorter one is frequently depicted in situations where they are contextually taller. The taller one sitting while the shorter one looms over them. Both of them lying in bed with the taller one’s head pressed to the shorter one’s chest. The shorter one straddling the taller one’s lap and leaning down for a kiss. The taller one on their knees as the shorter one tilts their head up. Please, it makes me go feral

While I like the concept of The Lamb gaining more eldritch and god-like features, I cannot get a comic idea out of my head for the characterization that they stay exactly as a normal sheep is, because they don't need to become anything else in order to enact revenge

They have blunt teeth that's not quite sharp, but they don't have to bite when their horns are hardy and pointed.

Their natural hooves and fingers lack any sort of claws, but they do not need them when they can pull a fist back to pulverize.

After a while, the Mystic Seller, the Bishops, they all expect the Lamb to gain eldritch features like they all did in their ascension. But they stay exactly the same: unassuming, mortal-looking, completely indiscernible from normal sheepfolk, and the Lamb wants that.

They want to look like a normal, mortal Lamb. They want to look exactly like the default prey animal when they kill the Gods. This image is who you killed, and this destroys you. They will not lose themselves, or else they will be erased entirely.

They are not grandiose or deadly looking. They don't mirror the ones that tried to erase them. They don't need to become anything else then The Lamb. The Lamb. The Lamb.

"After everything that was taken from me for being a Lamb, why would I give that up too? I am not the Bishops, I am not monstrous, I am not giant, nor do I have bladed wings or droves of eyes."

"I do not need to resemble monsters to be one. I do not need to become anything other than a simple Lamb to kill gods, or to be one."

All that and they're genuinely an upbeat personality kind of sheep, (you just won't know when they're not) Lamb Lamb Lamb Lamb

New idea: instead of writing the fic, you come over to my house and I tell you the entire plot while I pace my tiny kitchen. There’s a cup of tea, warm in your hands. The words don’t stop and the affection never leaves your expression.

“hi, my love.” and he has to take a minute— take a quick breath before responding with a soft ‘hello’ or a nonchalant (or as nonchalant as he can manage) quip about having missed him.

“i’m alright, my dear.” and all thought ceases and his fingers freeze over the wound he was tending to. his anger fizzles away like the rain on the pavement when the sun emerges from the clouds. all strength leaves his limbs as he rests his forehead to your uninjured shoulder, where a small but tender kiss is placed, and revels in the sound of your breathing.

“my heart, please.” and he’s gone. anything you ask for, anything you want is as good as yours if he has anything to do about it. his money, his home, his touch, his time— all yours, yours, yours.

“my sylus.” and he is at rest. the world is quiet, there is only you, your warmth, your voice. when the memory of his name returns to you, and he sees in your eyes that recognition—and love, despite who he was, who he is and who he will ever be in your bonded lifetimes, he gives up his entire being to you.

he is yours, and how he wishes your greed for proclaiming it would grow tenfold, until even the mere thought of him belongs to no one else.

I feel like we really lost something when we started looking at writing as a reader-centric product meant to appeal to the desires of a specific audience rather than a writer-centric approach of someone writes whatever particular thing particular compels them/whatever weird thing the demons in their head want to talk about, and people out there who are also compelled, and/or relate, find that writing. A lot of discussions of writing really center around what readers want rather than a writer's exploration. Sometimes as a reader I don't know what I want. I click on a fic or pick up a book I'm not sure about but that looks interesting, and I love it. Reading what I expect to get is it's own joy, but we always need to expand our horizons and not get mad at creators for not always writing what we want/expect.

Last night I had a dream about a very AU byler fic idea in which Mike was a binary trans man and coming to terms with that in the late 80s/early 90s (none of the UD stuff happens, El is actually Hop's daughter, etc. etc. etc.) after seeing an interview with a trans man on TV, while at the same time Will has been incredibly confused for years because he's very much gay but likes his best friend (who he thinks is a girl) and decides he needs to come clean about his sexuality and general confusion after they start dating after senior prom. They both have parallel identity crises triggered by this relationship, (sorta) come out to each other, and then try to navigate this thing between them and who they are as individuals. And it's just beautiful and stressful and heartwarming but also heartbreaking and god fucking damn it I need to write this don't I?

leaning forward off of the couch, you grab keigo by the pocket of his sweatpants and tug him sideways out of the way. he blinks, letting out a small huff before unceremoniously collapsing onto the cushion beside you, face smushed against your shoulder.

"imagine if you liked paying attention to your boyfriend as much as you like watching your sho—"

"keigo!"

his wings droop, and he groans, sliding even lower to drop his head face down in your lap.

"AND NEXT UP, WE'VE GOT TODAY'S SPECIAL SEGMENT ON THE NUMBER TWO HERO...HAWKS!"

keigo perks up and rolls over, eyes darting from the footage of his skyscraper fire rescue the other day to the proud smile on your face as you stare at the screen.

his feathers ruffle, and he preens.

"you know you've got the real thing right in fron—"

this time, when you place a finger over his lips and continue to ignore him, he just rolls his eyes and grins, making himself comfortable in your lap.

Do you ever sit down here for a minute and start thinking that technically Jason asks from Bruce the only thing Bruce can not give him (to kill Joker or to let him kill him), but for Jason it is the only thing he had ever asked from Bruce at all?
