What i read the week of Jan 10-16:

• Nick and Charlie by Alice Oseman

- physical book

- 5 stars, cute and engaging and a quick read, would recommend when you are in the mood for a ya Not A Breakup diversion. Plus you gotta love anything in the Osemanverse

• The Times I Knew I Was Gay by Eleanor Crewes

- Physical book

- 4 stars, Cute coming of age and coming into queerness graphic memoir, would recommend for folks just coming out to themselves who feel a bit alone and confused

• A Nobleman's Guide To Seducing A Scoundrel by K. J. Charles

- audiobook

- 5 stars, and fun sequel and lovely MLM historical romance exploring the lives of returning side characters from the first book, would recommend if you are in the mood for a gay heist historical romance

• The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

- audiobook

- 5 stars, extremely cute fake dating dimi4demi romance with an achedemia background, would recommend for when you are in the mood for a tropey good time

• Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood

- audiobook

- 5 stars, Adorable bi4demi ya romance with a competitive chess setting, would recommend for when you are in the mood for young love and happily ever afters

• The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

- audiobook

- 5 stars, big multicultural world building fantasy with lots of magic queerness and action, would recommend for when you want to be swept away to a world with dragons and magic (so always, anytime lol)

• Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune

-physical book

- 5 stars, loved it!!!!! Beautiful and timely sequel exploring stemic inequality and persicution through a fun magical setting that left me wanting to be a better (kinda) parent, would recommend anytime anywhere but especially right now

♡ Favorite Book Of The Week!!!!

• The Passing Playbook by Isaac Fitzsimons

- audiobook

- 5 stars, very cute loved the Trans characters, would recommend if you are in the mood for a trans high school romance and don't mind systemic transphobia as a major plot point

• The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun

-audiobook

- 5 stars, cute and tropey in the best way, would recommend specificly if you are in a rom-com mood

• Silver In The Bone by Alexandria Bracken

- audiobook

- 5 stars, very engaging with interesting magic and I'm excited for the sequel, would recommend if you don't mind cliffhangers

• Don't Let The Forest In by C. G. Drews

- audiobook

- 4 stars, but might go up as I sit on it, very engaging ya horror, would recommend if you are in the mood for dark themes and Major Character Death

• Ace Of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-ĺyímídé

- audiobook

- 5 stars, Chilling and engaging exploration of systemic racism that had my heart pounding all the way through, would recommend when you have space to sit with it and really digest

• Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

- audiobook

- 5 stars, love a magical heist book with characters who desperately don't want to fall for each other, would recommend for when you want to be swept away

• The Pairing by Casey McQuiston

- Physical Book

- 5 stars, delightfully fun and deliciously smutty Bi4Bi rom-com, would recommend when you are in the mood for Smut and Feelings

So I wanted an excuse to imagine the modern characters meeting baby Bill and to do impossible sci-fi things to Bill's brain in Theraprism. And throw in an amnesia plot just because.

Since escaping Theraprism didn't work, Bill's decided to cheat. Unfortunately the only official way a patient leaves Theraprism is via reincarnation, which means losing his memories. But he's found a way to trick them into releasing him, AND guarantee he'll get his memories back.

All he has to do is REMOVE his so-called "traumatic" memories (which TOTALLY didn't traumatize him, he SWEARS), get cleared to leave, and then reabsorb his memories later.

And he does this by... physically separating his various traumatic experiences into separate people. With magic.

Each removed facet of Bill's past only remembers their own portion of his memories, with only hazy memories of anything before their assigned era.

In effect this means Bill's memory clones work as if some time traveler had plucked a bunch of Bills from different points in his life out of the timeline: a baby Bill with baby memories, a child Bill with child memories, etc. And one modern Bill who doesn't remember much of anything anymore.

It's totally working, though! This is the most mentally healthy Bill's EVER BEEN. He's. He's SO mentally healthy, guys. Menetally healthy. Mealthy. he's f ine.

Please believe him.

He's gonna convince the therapists there's nothing wrong with him in NO time.

(The irony is that, lacking the baggage of a trillion years of medical trauma, fear of captivity, and distrust of authority, he might actually go "Whoa, I think something's wrong with me. Don't discharge me, I need help." Another flawless Bill plan backfires!)

Meanwhile, he's smuggled all his memory clones out of Theraprism and they're just running around somewhere. It's fine! He can find them when he's free! Bill can't think of any reason why a bunch of lost children who look exactly like Bill Cipher would run into any trouble! Especially since he can't remember doing anything that would make a lot of people hate him or anything like that!
