Gem species redesign ideas! Just for fun/mine own frustrations, the show's designs are really fun & great!! Detail ramblings under the cut!

At first i was like "what if the quartzes were just, like, hair? but the hair was actually grappling & stabbing tentacles?" Then the second quartz was based on their corrupted forms but also me thinking "gems are very humanoid, so how could we kit a human body out for violent non-weapon combat?"

And then i went a lil more "vaguely decorated coat rack/christmas tree" for the first pearl design with ribbon limbs, bc i read it somewhere in this redesign post & it sounded so cool, and then the mousy pearls(the point at which i decided to go less abstract & more humanoid) are inspired by these & these!

Moonstone based on moonstone(excerpt from drawing: "arms like shelves? Inconsistent with shape language, maybe give them close-to-their-form levitation abilities and platforms for limbs, forming their own limbs counts as individuality? Here is where separating moonstones (high class servants, but still servants) from pearls gets tricky") from me & autistic-yveltal. Pictured with her are more pearl design ideas based on peridot calling them "trinkets".

Corundum/garnet designs was me going off an idea autistic-yveltal had of sapphires w eyes all over, my rubysona redesign, abstract gems au on tumblr, and that cool centaur horse from the owl house concept pilot. Most of these ones r traced from official renders/model sheets/screenshots.
