self-doubt has been kicking my ass today. I hate feeling like this and feeling like I'm not good enough compared to some of the things I've seen; even though I know I am.

"Are the Robins child soldiers" It depends. If the story is super serious and into exploring complex morality and grounded from reality's standards, then yes. If the story is lighthearted, made for children, fluff, etc., then no. If it's somewhere in the middle, it might depend.
If an author wants to write a story seriously delving into the fucked up-ness of children fighting criminals, they can, and if you don't like it, you can read something else.
If an author wants to write a fun story about villains and heroes featuring Robin in a world where that's not an issue, they can, and if you don't like it, you can read something else.
If an author wants to write a serious story but not apply IRL-logic to Robin, they can, and if you don't like it, you can read something else.

Wren: SURRENDER!!
Byrd: Look! I can do a handstan-.. ough!
Wren: Hey!
Robin: Papa’s gonna come n’ tell you off for not being asleep yet.
Wren: Pfft, he doesn’t even know we’re here!
Byrd: Yeah, we’re sneaky.
[Oscar chuckled, clearing his throat loudly]
Oscar: Not sneaky enough.
Byrd: Ough, how’d you know?!
Oscar: Magic-.. now get!
Wren: I wanna be magic.
Oscar: Maybe one day, honey-.. if you sleep lots! You feeling alright, Levi?
[Levi nodded hesitantly as Oscar gave them both a thumbs up and a warm smile before leaving the room]
…
Levi: Don’t they annoy you?
Robin: Not really, I like hanging out with ‘em-.. I guess they can be annoying sometimes, but they’re not allowed in my treehouse n’ I have my bike so I can just go someplace else if I don’t wanna play.
Levi: Your parents let you go wherever you want?
Robin: I mean, within reason, yeah-.. don’t yours?
Levi: Sometimes, but they usually give me too much stuff to do.
Robin: That sucks.
Levi: Whatever-.. if you could talk this whole time, why didn’t you?
Robin: I don’t know, sometimes I can’t-.. it’s hard to explain, but once I start it’s usually okay. It’s called selective mutism.
Levi: Have you always had it?
Robin: Yeah, it was worse when I was little. It’s nothing personal.
Levi: Where am I gonna sleep?
Robin: We can top n’ tail?
Levi: I’m not sleeping in the same bed as you!
Robin: I’ll sleep on the floor then.
Levi: Where..?
Robin: In here, I’m just gonna get a sleeping bag-.. you want anything?
Levi: No.
[Levi reluctantly crawled into Robin’s bed and faced the wall with a sigh, wondering if any of this were normal; surely Robin and his parents were just being extra nice because he was here, surely they weren’t always like this? No one had even yelled at him for being an idiot who couldn’t swim yet, or for breaking his phone-.. it didn’t feel right at all]
Robin: Night, Levi-.. wake me up whenever.
[Levi ignored Robin, suddenly wishing he were anywhere but here; he wanted to be in his own bed, in his own room-.. not in this strange, warm house surrounded by people who were clearly being fake]

If I ever created a human world au where all the characters were just regular humans with regular lives, Beel would absolutely be a farmer.
I just see him out there in a tractor with his dog, growing corn and wheat and what not. Maybe he has a flock of sheep he keeps for the fleece. A whole orchard full of fruit trees. Keeps bees & chickens.
I think his love of food would carry over into how he cares for his crops. He sells his produce at a local farmer’s market. Everybody knows him because he’s so nice & sweet & big & his crops are the best.
I think about it sometimes… maybe one day I’ll write a human au story. I have multiple ideas about it.

A great art year, all in all! Worked a lot and didn't have as much time for personal work as I wanted (what else is new) but I did level up my traditional art adventures! A personal victory :)
Professionally I had the opportunity to work on some amazing projects! I normally try to fill these Summary of Art things with as much personal art as possible, but this time I used a lot of client work because I really like how they turned out! (✿◡‿◡)
I wish you all a wonderful year of 2024 - good health, happiness, money (it helps!), and peace, peace, peace ❤

Difference between Percy and Annabeth’s endings in PJO and HOO. In PJO, it feels like a happy, well-earned, triumphant ending. In HOO, it feels like defeat; like they’ve been let go and run off; like they’re not wanted anymore. At the end of PJO, Annabeth got to see her friend come back to her and redeem himself, and was going to fulfil her dream of building something that would last the ages. Percy was finally free of the weight of the prophecy and the fears surrounding his existence, and was helping other demigods get the safety and acceptance that he himself had been forced to earn. At the end of HOO, they were hurt and felt awful about themselves, and the solution to that was somehow… college.
hoo really came in and went "everything everyone fought and died for in the previous series means nothing, actually" and we're supposed to be like "omg percy and annabeth are going to college together in california. so cute!" as if that's not the most narratively unsatisfying thing rick could've done.

Just remembered how awful most of my 8th grade classes were. The problem was that the entire class was made up of friends and popular kids who knew each other, thus causing a literal war whenever the teachers left the class for 0.0001 seconds. I'd have to sit there and watch the chaos unfold beneath my quiet kid eyes (I was fresh out of quarantine at the time, not wanting to go back into public school).
