Difference between Percy and Annabeth’s endings in PJO and HOO. In PJO, it feels like a happy, well-earned, triumphant ending. In HOO, it feels like defeat; like they’ve been let go and run off; like they’re not wanted anymore. At the end of PJO, Annabeth got to see her friend come back to her and redeem himself, and was going to fulfil her dream of building something that would last the ages. Percy was finally free of the weight of the prophecy and the fears surrounding his existence, and was helping other demigods get the safety and acceptance that he himself had been forced to earn. At the end of HOO, they were hurt and felt awful about themselves, and the solution to that was somehow… college.

hoo really came in and went "everything everyone fought and died for in the previous series means nothing, actually" and we're supposed to be like "omg percy and annabeth are going to college together in california. so cute!" as if that's not the most narratively unsatisfying thing rick could've done.

idk if it makes sense to call treatments in themselves gender affirming care, rather than based on the reason someone is taking them in a given case. like, if a trans man is taking topical estrogen to prevent vaginal atrophy to avoid experiencing physical pain, I don't think it's most logical to call that gender affirming treatment.

similarly, my impression is that most cis women take post-menopausal hormones to treat unpleasant physical symptoms, rather than to "feel like a woman". in some cases there might also be the second motivation, then we can call it gender-affirming. but most of the time it's closer to to, like, flu medication.

First of all this is so so good, you have done an incredible job making a very complicated family tree (less of a tree, more of a shrub) into an easier to understand graphic.

Secondly, I haven't been on tumblr in like 2 months so I'm very sorry if this have been sitting in my inbox for forever.

It isn't all Danny's fault, a lot of that family shrubbery is original ancient greek content and Vlad is at least 50% of the problem just by existing. Is it cool if I link this in the ao3 work for posterity?

Not overly so. They were a little wary, but no more than can be expected for young baby snakes being handled. If they'd been truly distressed, we would have likely seen them balling up - it's not at all uncommon for baby ball pythons to roll up into a ball nearly every time they're handled until they get used to it.

My biggest concern with that video is just the little tub the snake was in; it looks like it came from a rack system and given the designer morph I'm worried the poor snake lives in that full-time.
