Podfic Reader Rec

I love a good podfic. They’ve gotten me through long drives, frantic cleaning sessions, and times when I was too light sensitive to do anything but sit in the dark. It’s a tough thing to do well, finding the right balance of acting and reading and keeping a good pace. @aceoftigers does it all! I’m most impressed by their ability to differentiate voices between characters without going over the top. It’s strong work all around.

Now with the promo art we can confirm it is a TVA brand suit, so period-inspired-aesthetics apply! It is not an accurate depiction of how space suits looked in the 1960s, nor is it even similar to space suits of '60s scifi.

For some more points of reference, here are the Mercury 7. You can see the suits are lighter, more closely fitting, and have that disctinctive space-race look about them.

Even the later Gemini space suits aren't as massive and bulky. The ability to move easily is really very important in something like a space suit where you're extremely limited in crew - everyone on board is pilot and mechanic!

Now we KNOW there's a lot of inspiration and reference to scifi films in the Loki series - it's a period scifi. So, we can look at scifi space suits of the time in popular media, but it still doesn't check out.

Even with things like 2001: A Space Odessy (1968) with those very colourful, funky space suits, they're still inkeeping with the function and recogniseable style of spacesuits.

Even films that were making more cotume-y styled space-suits like.... Robinson Crusoe on Mars.... With the monkey..... You can see it's all about ease of movement (and low cost production, given you had to make a suit for the MONKEY)

Scifi comics of the time we're given more freedom of design, but at the same time were limited to what was easiest to redraw and also catch the attention of readers. Your options are the thin, fitted, recogniseable style of the space race, or goofy fashion-centric suits.

Now there is a fair chance there is something bouncing around the Marvel comics that the suit is based off and I simply Do Not Know It, but I am firm and CONVINCED it is not a space suit. It's an ADS!
