Sometimes when viewing art i think abt late surgeon Dr Leonard Shlain’s commentary on how artists synthesise societal ideas that arent yet lucid/described by science, or the general public (Art & Physics, published 1991). Almost without even meaning to. Artists observe laws about nature and reality before they hve concrete descriptions. Even the wave/particle nature of light was predicted by an oil painter who made a point of softening the edges of shadows in paintings.
This artwork above, combining cartoon style with realism elements makes me think abt how Virtual Reality and technology is entering our daily lives. Half real half digital. Half real half pixels and lights. Idk.

36 - Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Tumblr media
I guess we're running up that hill today.
So I stopped watching Stranger Things in season 2 (my wife really hated when Dart are the cat and i felt no real compulsion to continue), so i totally missed why this song got really big out of nowhere last year.
Never really got into Kate Bush. Let's see what I've been missing.
Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)-
Okay i never knew that was the full title of the song, that rules. Also didn't think it was gonna kick the album off. ALSO didn't know it had over A BILLION PLAYS.
And since I'm sure the audio players don't/can't track each other's metrics, that's just on Spotify! Holy shit.
Love that synth string in the intro.
Her voice is so cool, and the things she's doing with the layering are amazing.
Okay, wait, is she implying that he is the one running up that hill? And that she wants to make a deal to be running up the hill instead?
Because let me tell you, I've run up some hills, and it's not as nice as she makes it sound.
Hounds of Love-
I like the inversion of the Hounds of War.
Feels like the other side of Florence + The Machine's "Howl", being hunted by the idea of love rather than being the one hunting for it.
I would be incomprehensibly surprised if Kate Bush wasn't a source of inspiration for Florence.
(Been listening to Gecs lately while driving, and at that last line, all i can think is "i might go and throw my shoes into the lake, yeah".)
The Big Sky-
I like this one, mostly because I'm always pointing out clouds that look like things.
(The other day, there was a cloud above my house that looked like two kidney beans doing it doggy-style.)
If this isn't the unofficial song of Montana, that state just isn't trying. (It's the "Big Sky state" iirc.)
Okay, the end of this one gets a little repetitive. Feels a little unnecessarily long.
Mother Stands For Comfort-
A love song from the point of view of Jason Voorhees (...or maybe Ed Gein?)
Dark and jagged and erratic and atmospheric, i really like the instrumentation throughout, it's kinda like if Richard D. James wrote an art-pop song.
I stand by my initial assessment. A beautiful serial killer song.
Cloudbusting-
"I still dream of Orgonon" Wait, the orgonne energy research laboratory?
Google check confirms.
Yeah, this is a song about cumming. Squirting, possibly? "you're making rain and you're just in reach".
Immediately wondering if this is the inspiration for the Bob's Burgers song "Oil Spill".
(Yeah it's... Not subtle.)
Oh, wait, no, i think it's actually about water breaking and childbirth. I think i prefer the incredibly powerful orgasm reading instead.
And Dream Of Sheep -
This could be on a "go to sleep" playlist. Very mellow.
I totally feel the light sleeper part, though. Never been good at sleeping, and the army made that way worse.
Under Ice-
I grew up near a river junction in Illinois. One of the first things you learn is "NEVER trust river ice".
And, not to be too blunt, but if you don't learn that from hearing it, you likely won't need to worry about learning much else.
Honestly, this one is a bit of a recurring nightmare, the idea of being trapped under ice is horrifying.
Waking The Witch-
Considering how the last song flows into this one, maybe it IS a nightmare.
Possibly just the sound of Catholic guilt?
This is a wild one. Lots of what feels like found footage audio.
Watching You Without Me-
Ocarina of Time's Goron City? That you?
Considering the sweep of the past few songs on the album, I'm guessing she didn't make it out from under the ice, it has the vibe of "ghost watching the living".
Oh, she straight up says that.
Oh damn! Inverse backmasking?
Record the melody backwards, while singing the words backwards, so it's still intelligible when played forward. I LOVE IT.
And the chopped up cries to be heard? Oh, this song rules. The vibe here is immaculate.
Kate, this one made me a convert. Masterfully executed auditory ghost story.
Jig Of Life-
The dead woman fights for her right to live? I'm hoping I'm reading this album right, because all of a sudden I'm thinking: "is this ALL one big story? Did i just get ’Hazards of Love'-ed here? What are the implications of that realization with the very clearly about a serial killer song in the middle there?"
Hello Earth-
A song for Doctor Manhattan? Idk. Also, not sure about this one within the "is it all connected?" framework.
Maybe the woman lost the fight for her life?
The return of "getting out of the water".
The German at the end translates to:
"deeper deeper
somewhere deep
is there a light".
The Morning Fog-
I guaran-goddamn-tee that someone somewhere had almost fallen asleep during last song only to get jump-scared to shit by the start of this one.
There's a certain amount of "through the underworld" to it.
Like being in a bad trip for a while and everything dissipates as the night fades away, and you just stand there in the growing light of the morning sun and finally feel refreshed and alive again.
You could tell me that this album was based on a Greek tragedy and i would believe you.
You could also tell me that this album was based on a really challenging acid trip and i would also believe you.
Either way, atmospheric as hell, beautiful and tragic and emotional. I really enjoyed this one.
Favorite Track: Watching You Without Me. I get why Running Up That Hill was the big single and this wasn't (it just couldn't be, it needs the buildup), but this one is the best track on the album.
Least Favorite Track: The Big Sky is slightly diminished in my eyes by that ending just going on forever, but this is a really good album overall.

22nd of May - Is This The Real Life?
Tumblr media
A list of real event/canon timeline prompts from Freddie’s life. How real you want to keep them, however, is entirely up to you!
Down in flames
Freddie is 16 years old when he leaves boarding school. Does it have something to do with the school gardener, Sanjay? Did he flunk his exams or did he not even sit them? Is one thing connected to the other? Does he really find a boyfriend when he goes to stay with his aunt in Mumbai (then Bombay)? Either way, there’s the small matter of his parents finding out about all of it... (Sources: x x )
When Freddie met Kenny
Freddie is a guest on Kenny Everett's radio show in spring 1974. Freddie is living with Mary, Kenny is married. Two gay men, deep in the closet. To no one's surprise, they hit it off immediately. (Source: x )
But when did he?
At some point during his relationship with Mary, prior to his relationship with David, Freddie had already begun sleeping with men. But how and when did that first happen? Cottaging in London? On tour somewhere in the world? Your guess is as good as ours…
Flying High
Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll. Like all rock bands of their time, Queen doesn’t escape the copious amounts of cocaine in the entertainment industry for long. Somewhere on tour in America, perhaps, Freddie is first introduced to it. Where? How?
Hide your tears
Jim said that he tried to be strong for Freddie and only cried in private, so as not to burden Freddie with his feelings. But this time, he is found.
One-liners:
In 1969, Freddie doesn’t know how to cook an egg and neither does Roger (Source: x )
In 1977, Freddie meets Joe while on tour in Boston and starts dating him behind David's back
In 1990, Brian and Freddie work on 'The Show Must Go On' (Source: x )
In a year of your choice, Jim reminisces about his fondest moment(s) with Freddie
In 1976, Freddie and Mary end their relationship
In 1984, Winnie gives Freddie a wedding ring (middle of the post: x )
In the late 60s, Freddie agrees to model for an Ealing Art School fashion show, but panics and flees the runway (Source: x )
In 1974, Freddie is strip-searched upon arrival in Australia (Source: x )
In 1982, Freddie and Roger go shopping in Amsterdam (Source: x )
In 1978, Freddie swings from a chandelier - naked (Source: x )
23rd of May - Is It Just Fantasy?
Tumblr media
A list of AU prompts to spark your imagination. Take them and run with them or change them up, just have fun!
Make your dreams come true
Freddie hasn't been very fortunate in his life, until he finds a very special oil lamp, and rubs it just the right way.
Beautiful stranger
Freddie meets an alluring stranger at a masquerade ball, who has more secrets than he can hide behind a mask. But Freddie has some of his own.
Thicker than water
Freddie agrees to a dreadful fate in order to save his little sister from the very same. Fortunately, he has friends who are more than willing to help him, but can they? Or are they, too, in danger?
Diamonds are a boy's best friend
Freddie is the prized jewel of the court, a skilled belly-dancer and entertainer, but he may also be plotting murder and getting away with it.
Almost Real
In a distant future, humans have all but done away with face to face interaction. Humanity largely lives online. Children grow up isolated and live with only their families well into young adulthood. Cybersex is the new normal, although some families take a puritanical approach for fear of addiction. One day, impossibly, a real life young man falls through the containment field in Freddie’s back garden.
One-liners:
This plane is going to crash (Freddie knew there was a reason he hated flying)
Shipwrecked on an island (Freddie could never bear to be alone, but luckily/unfortunately for him…)
Hunger Games AU (Freddie is so dead)
A terrible road accident (Everyone is so dead, or are they?)
Blind Date AU (Freddie's best friend is so dead for setting him up with this person… or are they…)
Bank robbery (but who are the robbers and who are the hostages?)
Magic AU ("Yer a wizard, Freddie!")
Film Noir AU (Secrets and cigarette holders)
Interior Design AU (Does the carpet match the drapes?)
The Bodyguard AU (“And I will always love yooouuuu…”)

Ashton snippet
Found this while perusing through old docs, it’s titled ‘Don’t Call Me Angel” and it ends abruptly because I never finished or I don’t know what happened. But here’s a snippet of a TA!Ashton as an art teacher.
Might have to add this to my list of WIPs to finish if it gets good reviews. Let me know what you think :)

Ashton has always felt things so deeply. He loves deeply, he rages deeply, he sympathizes deeply and he plays his drums with everything he’s got. He tries to keep his emotions in check but they change like the tides, even he finds it hard to keep up with them.
Ashton lives, breathes and sweats creativity. His passion is seen in his brush strokes, his despair is shown through the negative space of his photographs. Long hours spent in the dark room and sometimes endless nights painting on large canvases in his studio apartment has given him the cliché brooding artist look; dark circles under his eyes complete the look.
When he’s not in the dark room or his apartment he frequents the coffee shop that is the perfect halfway point between his familiar places. It’s called Java Bean and serve the best iced coffee Ashton has ever tasted to tell you the God honest truth and the shop is a literal godsend for being open twenty-four hours.
Ashton’s insides are made of caffeine, paint and a constant ebb and flow of pulsating thoughts and phrases that won’t leave his mind unless he writes them down in his sketchbook. That’s another thing Ashton can never leave the house without, his sketchbook.
It’s large, black and hard covered even though the spine has long since lost the potency of its glue causing it to lie open like a cracked crab. It’s filled with his thoughts, lyrics he can’t get out of his head, small sketches of flowers or images he sees late at night when he dreams (when he gets a chance to sleep).
The book is his vice and he would rather die than ever part with it for Ashton is a closed book with every person (aside from his three best friends) but he opens up fully between those pages.
For his last year at University he’s the TA for his favorite art professor, Miss Dooley who is the perfect amount of scatter-brained and genius. She calls every student ‘pet’ and always has incense or essential oils burning in her classroom.
It has been Ashton’s wish and dream to be an art teacher for high school students, to help those like him who want to stay in their shell reveal who they truly are on the inside.
“Hello, my pet,” Miss Dooley trills in her usual sing song voice as Ashton enters the large art classroom.
He inhales the acrylic paint, the fresh wood waiting to be turned into canvases and the waxy aroma from the oil pastels stowed away in a cupboard. It’s one of his favorite smells in the world, the mediums just waiting to be used and Ashton’s fingers twitch in anticipation to create.
“Hey, Miss D,” he grins making a beeline to her desk at the front of the room. Behind her on the charcoal colored chalkboard is her name in calligraphy with broad strokes of curves and flowers.
‘Advanced Art Multi-Medium’ is written in block letters below her name as well.
“Excited for this year?” she asks rolling around a small was of blue putty in her hands. She claims it keeps her fingers and joints from failing so she’ll always be able to make art.
“Yeah, does it look like we’ll have a good class this year?” he taps the pads of his fingers on the black resin tabletop, a habit he’s always had when he’s anxious.
“Oh, I think so,” she beams her robin’s egg eyes twinkle. “It’s a full class this year, which I have you to thank for my little chickadee.”
“Me? What do you mean?”
“You’ve been the best student for the past six years you’ve been here, my prized pupil and a very handsome fella if you don’t mind me saying.”
Ashton feels the back of his neck heat up from her sentence full of compliments. Surely he’s not the reason for a full class this year? That’s ridiculous.
“I don’t think—“
Before he could finish the double wooden doors swung open and a flood of college students entered and Ashton couldn’t help but judge the first few that came in. He recognized three of the girls in front who were in Delta Zeta which he knew the only amount of creativity in their body was decorating photo backdrops.
Apart from them the rest of the class he’s seen hanging around the art wing of the school and at some of the showings he was at. At the rear was one of his best friends, Michael Clifford who decided a month ago to dye his hair a deep purple again. Michael smirks at his friend as he takes a seat next to a petite girl opening up a small black notebook.
Ashton let out an exasperated breath through his nostrils at his friend who did not tell him he’d be taking this class.
“ . . . Twenty- three . . . and twenty-four. Excellent! We’re all here!” Miss Dooley claps her hands together and moves to the front of her desk to smile sweetly at her pupils. “I recognize some of your faces but welcome to Advanced Art! I am Miss Dooley and this young man next to me is Ashton Irwin who will be my aide for this year. Would you like to inform them what this year will consist of?”
Ashton clears his throat then steps forward to stand next to Miss Dooley but ends up leaning his back against the counter behind him. He wanted them to see he was relaxed.
“Hey everybody. This year will be about using different mediums and creating something great out of them and also finding your niche in your art. Every class you’ll have five sketches of a landscape or a self-portrait or anything else that catches your eye. If you don’t have a sketchbook I recommend getting on.”
Every eye is on him and he is making a point not to look anywhere near Michael in the back. He clears his throat again before continuing.
“Your final exam for the first semester will be the beginning of your portfolio which will show the progression of your ‘voice.’ When—“
“Our voice?” a platinum blond of the Delta Zeta trio asks with her hand in the air, a confused pout on her glossed lips.
Ashton folds his arms across his chest, the leather of his jacket squeaks from the motion.
“Each artist has a voice in their work, a certain style that is all their own. That’s why when you see the blurred colors of a lily pond you know it’s Monet or the small pointed brush strokes and vivid colors of Van Gogh. Art is a voice for when you don’t know what to say, you can convey so much emotion into it. By the end of the year I want to be able to tell who’s piece is who’s, that’s how prominent it needs to be.
“If you don’t think you have it in you or won’t rise up to the challenge of being vulnerable, then I suggest you drop the class. Some people really want to be here and create art, I don’t want you to be deprived of that.”
He stands there eyeing each and every person almost daring one of them to stand up and walk out. A motion of a hand raise catches his eye in the back, he thinks it’s Michael and is ready to kick his friend out if he makes a rude comment. But it’s not Michael, it’s the girl sitting next to him.
“Yes, pet?” Miss Dooley calls on her.
“How many pieces should be in our portfolio?” she asks in a gentle voice but with sureness behind it.
“However many it takes to find your voice,” Ashton answers her. She nods then bends over her notebook to write furiously on the page.
“Well, since no one has jumped ship, let’s start off with a little exercise. Turn to the person you share a table with, introduce yourself and sketch them while you get to know each other. You will be each other’s buddies for the semester. Begin, my pets,” Miss Dooley claps her hands together again and all the students shuffle around for pencils and paper.
» » » » »
It’s a Friday night and Ashton is sitting in his favorite booth at Java Bean with his sketchbook out and earphones in to block out the small chatter of other college students. His first week of class as a TA went really well, a lot of the students showed promise. To his amusement Michael’s first sketches were of the little succulents he has scattered about his apartment.
Ashton was pleased that they took him seriously and Miss Dooley always offered her help and guidance to those who had questions. None of the students had approached Ashton but he was fine with that, he’s still learning by watching Miss Dooley interact with them.
Ashton’s hazel eyes landed on Michael and Calum approaching his table as he sipped at his black coffee. He licks his lips watching them approach with shit eating grins on their faces and he reluctantly removes his earphones. He closes his sketchbook with a soft thump, slightly glaring at his friends. They know better than to interrupt him while he’s drinking coffee and immersed in his sketchbook.
“Hey teacher,” Michael snickers pulling up a chair from the next table over. He slumps down in it with his fingers twiddling in his lap while Calum spins the chair opposite Ashton around and straddles it.
Calum pulls his dark gray beanie down lower over his ears then rests his chin on his elbows.
“Can I help you with something?” Ashton sighs leaning back in his own chair.
“Luke’s throwing a party tonight,” Calum begins, “a back to school rager, if you will.”
“Good for him.”
“C’mon Ash,” Michael whines leaning forward on his knees. “Come party with us like old times.”
“You mean like when we were freshman and your head caught fire?” Ashton quirked his eyebrows up.
“We were young and dumb then,” Michael waves it off. “Come on, it’ll be great. The girl I sit next to in your class will be there.”
“And?”
“What girl?” Calum pipes up.
“And she’s cute,” Michael shrugs, “and it will be fun for you to get out of your little hermit hole you’ve set up here.”
“I dunno guys. I want to get up early tomorrow to take some photos of the waterfall. In my photography class I’m doing a series of different locations throughout the seasons, and I think the—“
“Yeah, yeah, we get it,” Calum interrupts holding his hand up. “Just . . . come hang out with us before you get neck deep in your work, yeah? Just for a few hours.”
Ashton rolls his eyes then sighs before giving in.
“All right, fine. I’ll come.”
“YES! The Ash Man is back!” Michael hollers clapping his friend on the back and the other customers turn to look over in irritation.
“You’ve never called me that,” Ashton says gathering his stuff in his shoulder bag, “and don’t start now.”
The party was like any other party Ashton has been to in his college career, granted it is a bit tamer than when they were all freshman and sophomores. For the most part everyone had their clothes on which relieved Ashton. He hated having to try and wrangle whoever it was to get their clothes back on.
The townhouse was stuffy with vape smoke making the air foggy, beer and liquor filled his nose and he felt the music course through his body.
“Hey, you brought him!” Luke exclaims with a large smile. His arms are raised bringing Ashton in for a tight hug. “Glad you’re here, buddy.”
“Thanks man,” Ashton says tousling the younger guy’s golden curls.
“Drinks are in the kitchen, but I think I hear a shot of fireball calling your name,” Luke wiggles his eyebrows dragging the guys into the kitchen.
“I haven’t had fireball since New Year’s two years ago,” Ashton chuckles.
“Ashton! Hey!”
His head snaps when he hears his name then wishes that he hadn’t. The voice belonged to Breanne Thomas, a girl he used to hook up with on and off a few years back. She was even the model for some of his photography assignments.
“Oh, hey, Breanne,” he nods politely then shuffles past her into the kitchen. He did not want to relive old times with her at the moment.
“Yikes, sorry, mate,” Calum says handing him a shot glass filled with the golden liquid.
“Whatever, let’s cheers to a new year,” he shakes it off holding his glass up in the air. They all clink and down the shots heartily. Ashton remembers the burn as it travels down his throat and into his stomach.
As the night progresses he becomes pleasantly buzzed and that’s when he knows to stop. He just stumbles out of the bathroom when he hears his name being called and looks up to see Michael waving him over near the back of the house to the backyard.
Ashton pushes through the bodies, waves of weed swirl around his head and it’s so strong he’s sure he’ll get a contact high from it. When Michael becomes more in view he notices the girl from his class standing next to him.
“This is Lennox Hastings,” Michael introduces with a loopy smile. “Lennox Hastings this is Ashton Irwin. Our teacher. My best friend.” A small hiccup escapes him.
“Hi,” she smiles shyly at Ashton, “And it’s just Lennox. You don’t have to use my last name Michael.”
“It’s a badass name, Lennox Hastings! I have to say it all. You should show him your notebook, he’s got one too. Oops, I’ve got to go. Bye!”
He skirts away into the crowd and Ashton shakes his head at his drunken friend then turns to Lennox who now looks oddly familiar now that he knows her name. Apart from seeing her in his class he swears he’s seen her somewhere else before, but where? Or did she have a twin?
“I’m sorry you’re stuck with him as a table partner,” Ashton apologizes and she laughs lightly.
“He’s not so bad. He’s fun to talk to when I’m not working.”
“How’re you liking the class so far?”
“It’s good, I’ve been looking forward to it since I got here, actually. I was in all advanced classes in my high school and I’ve heard how amazing Miss Dooley is.”
“Yeah, she’s great,” he smiles then glances around at their surroundings. There’s a couple making out against the fridge and Ashton realizes it’s Calum and some short blond haired girl. “You wanna step outside? Get some fresh air?”
“Yeah, that sounds good,” she smiles opening the door.
Ashton picks up two water bottles from the bucket on the counter then follows her into the warm August night. The screen door swings shut behind him, he inhales deeply and sits on the gliding bench besides Lennox.
“Thanks,” she says taking the water bottle from him and takes a sip. “This isn’t weird, is it?”
“What isn’t weird?”
“Us being out here? You’re basically my teacher,” she laughs nervously.
“Nah, I’m just an aide. I’m not a teacher yet,” he grins at her.
Now that he’s not inside the house with loads of distractions all around, he can finally get a good look at her. She looks familiar for some reason now as he stares at her in the yellow porchlight. Her auburn hair is pulled up in a half ponytail with some fly aways clinging to her round cheeks. Her eyelashes are long atop her doe eyes and Ashton finds himself wishing to see what type of blue they are and if he could paint them.
“You’ll make a good one,” she says pulling him from his wandering mind.
“Ya think?” he leans back and rocks the glider back and forth slowly, it creaks and groans as he does.
“Yeah, you control the room well and I can tell how passionate you are about art.”
“Thanks,” he says sheepishly. He’s never been able to take compliments well, whether it’s about his art or himself. “How’re the rest of your classes going?”
“Okay so far, lots of work already in my poetry class and advanced art,” she gives him a sly smirk and nudges his ribs playfully with her elbow.
“You write?”
“Mhm. Wrote a lot this summer, great inspiration,” she says grimly.
“That’s good, right? I’ve heard writers block is shit.”
“It is.”
“So what inspired you?” he turns his body so he’s angled towards her more.
Lennox shakes her head, a piece of hair clings to her lip and Ashton desperately wants to pull it away.
“I don’t want to bore you with my heartbreak, Mr. Irwin,” she says.
“Please, call me Ashton,” he grimaces at the title. “I’m an artist, too, remember? Heartbreak makes the artist.”
“You already know it, though, the cliché story of girl meets boy. Girl falls for boy and they date and commit but then the boy gets a record deal and leaves girl behind.”
“Wait,” Ashton sits up straighter when he heard record deal. “You aren’t talking about Harry Styles, are you?”
“You know him, huh?” she says airily.
“Yeah, we don’t get along very well. At all, actually,” he chuckles.
“How come?”
“That’s not important right now. I’m sorry he hurt you.”

I Just Hid it Better - Javid AU
Anything Javid love confession I’m a sucker for love confessions like either Davey confessing his love to Jack on accident (please) or “hand holding but it’s complicated”
Javid Modern AU - 2.3k words Jack sketches David as he sleeps
The sound of the door slamming woke David up from his nap on the couch. Groggily, he rubbed his eyes and sat up to see Jack setting his bag down by the door. He could see the guilt on Jack’s face when he realized he woke David up.
“Sorry,” he said with an apologetic frown.
“Nah, you’re good.” David repositioned so he was sitting properly. “Tough day?”
“It’s my stupid drawings class,” Jack started, moving into the living room. “It's already not my favorite because charcoal isn’t my medium-”
“Because you prefer oil paint.” David nodded.
“Because I prefer oil paint. And drawing with a group can’t be good for creativity or whatever, I mean how does it make sense to have one model in one pose and it’s just supposed to work for all thirty of us?” Jack sat next to David, kicking his feet onto David’s lap.
“It’s bad enough that we only do portraits, ya know?”
“Because you prefer landscapes.” David nodded, again.
“Because I prefer landscapes. It’s like, I like portraits, but I like drawing people I know, ya know. I feel like I can really get the mood right when I know what they’re like, what’s going on in their head.” At this point David wasn’t convinced Jack could actually hear him over his own rant.
“I wanna work on charcoal and I wanna work on portraits, it’s just that the class isn’t the best environment for me.” Jack took a slow breath. “I’m sorry, I woke you up. Tough day for you too?”
“Just tired.” David rested his head on the top of the couch cushion. “Work was long.”
“I’ll never understand how you get to work at 5:00 in the morning.”
“People need coffee in the morning and somebody has to serve it.” It was silent for a second before David spoke again. “You can draw me if you want.”
“You hate sitting for my art.” Jack said, surprised.
“I’m not gonna. But I am gonna take a nap, and if you happen to draw me that’ll be okay with me. We’ll see if you can draw what’s going on in my dream or whatever it is you’re looking to do.” David tapped Jack’s legs on his lap so Jack swung his legs back onto the floor and stood.
“Geez, Dave. Isn’t that a little intimate?” Jack joked, but he was already walking toward his bag with his sketchbook. “I mean, I didn’t mean it like,” David was relieved Jack had walked away and couldn’t see him blush.
“I know, Dave. Take your nap, you deserve it.” Jack settled on the floor with his back against their coffee table and his sketchbook in his lap. Surprisingly easily, David drifted off to sleep.
David woke up to a completed sketch on the coffee table and Jack cooking dinner in the kitchen. With a yawn and a stretch David stood up and wandered into the kitchen, he sat on the counter and kicked his foot out to nudge Jack. “Whatcha making?”
Jack turned and grabbed David’s head and gave him an exaggerated kiss on the forehead. “Stir fry!” He said with a smile.
“Damn, you’re excited, must be the one from Trader Joes.” “No, it’s just,” Jack waved a wooden spoon as he spoke. “I’m just really happy with how my sketch came out and I actually feel really good about my drawings class now. I mean, I have to keep up the practicing outside of class so I don’t get stuck in a rut again-” “But you’re feeling better?” David filled in.
“But I’m feeling better!” Jack turned the stove off and took two plates out of the cabinet. He served two plates of the stir fry before joining David on the counter top. “Thanks for letting me sketch you,” “I literally just took a nap on the couch, but I’m glad you got your groove back. Thanks for dinner.” David was always willing to help out, well, he hated sitting for Jack’s art. Just sitting here for as long as it took for Jack to either finish or get bored, hours. But if all he had to do was nap on his couch after his six hour opening shift, well that wasn’t a bad deal.
The next few days were business as usual until Jack’s next class and David’s next shift. David came home, got changed, and took his place on the couch. He scrolled through Instagram, attempting to stay awake but the fatigue from his early shift and long work day caught up to him.
This time, he woke up to Jack on the couch beside him and Netflix playing quietly on the TV in front of them. When David stretched his arms out he accidently hit Jack on the chest. “You’re up!” Jack turned the volume of the TV up.
“I’m up.” David sat up so he was sitting next to Jack, rather than lying with his head by Jack’s lap. “How was class?”
“A lot better than last time. Obviously it’s still not my favorite but it’s not a drag anymore.” Jack pulled some of David’s blanket over his own legs.
“That’s great, Jack.” They settled into a comfortable silence for a while, ordering a pizza for dinner and watching Netflix until the evening. Eventually, Jack left to take a shower and David noticed his sketchbook sitting on the coffee table, again.
He picked it up and began flipping through the pages, Jack never was secretive of his work. There was a mixture of drawings of his friends and models from class and they were all amazing, David would be the first to tell you how talented Jack is, but David could tell the difference. He could see the love and concentration on the sketch Race’s face as he worked out a problem in his notebook.
The sketches of the models were more technical. Each stroke looked calculated, precise. It looked incredible, but in comparison it just wasn’t the same. David flipped the page and there was the drawing of him from earlier in the week. He looked peaceful, calm. David was surprised by how… nice he looked. He always thought Jack’s art presented David as much more attractive than any photo. It was probably just Jack being nice and not including his imperfections.
The next page was another model, from class today. Again, beautiful but with less emotion than the ones of David and their friends. David was about to set the book down when he noticed there was another sketch on the next page.
It was David. Asleep on the couch with his phone resting next to him. Asleep. David didn’t know Jack was going to sketch him again. He wasn’t like, weirded out or anything but he was a little surprised. He figured Jack would prefer a more interesting subject than a sleeping David. But, still, he looked better than David saw himself. It was a beautiful sketch.
“Sorry, I hope it was cool that I sketched you again.” Jack stood in the doorway of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel.
“No, it’s no problem. I figured you’d want a more interesting subject now that you’re more inspired, or whatever.” Jack walked into his room to get dressed as David spoke.
“Dave, I got all the inspiration I need sleeping on my couch everyday.” David pretended that his heart didn’t skip a beat.
“That so?” David managed to squeak out.
“Yeah, Dave.” Jack came back, dressed, using his towel to dry his hair. “I mean I know you so well I feel like I always know what’s going through your head, conscious or not.”
David could practically feel his heart beating in his ears. He hoped Jack couldn’t tell what was going on in his head at this particular moment.
“It doesn’t hurt that you got a nice face to draw, too.” Jack wandered into the kitchen, casually looking in the fridge, as if he isn’t making David’s heart go a mile a minute.
David wanted to smile, to tease Jack as they’ve been doing for years but for some reason he was nervous. He couldn’t get the words out. Something about the compliments, the vulnerability, the emotion in the art. He just felt different than he usually did with Jack. Flirting isn’t uncommon in their friend group but Jack sounded genuine and David could tell he was speaking differently than he usually would with the guys.
But it was getting late and he was tired, he’ll probably feel differently in the morning.
“Good night, Jack.” David stood up and stopped in the kitchen for a bottle of water.
“You alright, Davey?” “Yeah, work in the morning, that’s all.”
“Good night, then.” David couldn’t see the way Jack watched him walk into his room, a concerned look on his face.
Work. Home. Change. Nap.
David got tired of the routine but he needed the money, and he liked his job, really. Good coworkers and regulars he could chat with. It wasn’t all bad. When his classes change next semester he’ll get new shifts and all will be well.
David had hardly woken up when he saw Jack. “Hey,” David said softly, voice low from his drowsiness.
“Hey, Dave. Sorry, I thought you’d be out for a little while longer.” Jack started to close his sketchbook.
“No, it’s okay, I love you.” And suddenly David was awake.
“I mean, I love it. Your art, I mean.” He lost control of the words coming out of his mouth.
“Don’t worry about it Davey, you’re tired. I get it.” Jack grinned.
“Yeah, tired. Sorry if I ruined your process or whatever.” “Don’t worry about it, I’m sure I could draw you with my eyes closed.” Jack continued his sketch.
He wasn’t making this any easier for David.
“You want some tea?” David wouldn't be able to get back to sleep now so he would at least need some caffeine in  him. He knows Jack won’t touch coffee.
“Do we have peach?” Jack called to the kitchen.
“I wouldn’t have offered if we didn’t.” David turned the coffee pot and the kettle on before taking the tea out of the cabinet.
He leaned on the counter, looking into the living room. Jack was still sitting on the floor, sketching, even though David had left. He stood and watched him until the kettle began to whistle. He did love Jack, and so what if his feelings might be romantic? He and Jack have been friends forever, this can’t be the thing that brings them apart. Still, that doesn't mean that he should say anything to Jack, or say anything else, really.
He prepared their drinks and brought them into the living room, he set Jack’s mug beside him on the table, not wanting to disturb him further. As soon as David sat down Jack closed his sketchbook and joined David on the couch.
“I feel like I haven’t seen you lately, you’ve been working so much.” Jack sat dangerously close to David.
“The money’s good. I’m hoping if I keep up the hours next semester I could be a manager over the summer.” David sipped his drink slowly, taking in the heat.
“But I miss you, shouldn’t that be a consideration?” Jack took a sip. “This is good, Dave.”
“That’s the kind of good work that’s gonna land me the promotion. I’m scarily good at putting a tea bag into hot water.”
“Shut up and take the compliment.”
David didn’t realize he missed Jack too until they started talking again. Usually they would sit and eat together while watching TV or they would hang out in groups. He and Jack have been friends for years but he still missed him. Suddenly Jack seems far away. He wishes he could be closer to Jack, romantically. He wants to reach out and touch him, kiss him, love him.
But he doesn’t want to lose what they have. He’s probably worried about nothing, but still. He can’t just look to his best friend and say “hey I think I’m in love with you.” It was bad enough when he accidently let it slip. But maybe it wouldn’t be the worst thing? Jack’s been single for a while and it’s not like he’ll be infringing on something. And Jack wouldn’t judge him, would he?
“Hey, Jack?” Jack hummed in acknowledgment as he sipped his tea.
“Earlier, when I-” “Don’t worry about it, Davey. You were tired and it’s not like I don’t love you too.” Jack leaned into David, bumping their shoulders together.
Jack really wasn’t making this easier.
‘Right, right. It’s just that, recently, I don’t know. I feel like I might be developing some… feelings. For you.” David stared into his mug, afraid to look up at Jack.
“You feel like you might maybe?” Jack said, cautiously but with a grin.
“Jack.”
“Right, sorry. You’re sure about this?” Jack looked to David.
“I felt like it would be better to just tell you, so it doesn’t affect our friendship.” David finally made eye contact with Jack.
“Actually, that’s not the best idea.”
David’s heart dropped.
“I mean,” Jack began, “our friendship is for sure gonna be different.” “Jack, I’m so sorry. I just-” Jack cut him off. “I mean kissing you stupid, that’s gonna affect our friendship. And going on dates and stuff.”
“Do you mean..?” David couldn’t finish his sentence, couldn’t get his brain all in one place.
“I mean I would do anything to be your boyfriend, Davey.” “I was so scared that I was gonna ruin everything.” Jack could hear the smile in David’s words.
“I’ve been scared to say something for years, you’re just braver than me.” Jack grinned back.
“Maybe changing our relationship up a bit won’t be the worst thing,” David said, leaning into Jack.

Fandom: Once Upon A Time Pairing: Regina/Emma, Alice/Robyn, Regina & Henry, Regina & Zelena Genre: Family/Fluff Rated: T Words: 2,255
Once upon a time, Regina paints.
5 times Regina struggles with her secret penchant for creativity + 1 time she finds her muse.
Read on AO3
this grew out of the plot in the regina rising book, where regina takes art classes for a bit. if you haven't read it, it's not crucial for this, just the inspiration. purely wrote this because art school has been kicking my butt recently and i must live everything through the cathartic distance of fictional characters. enjoy!
warnings: suggestions of childhood abuse, swearing, bit of brief alcohol use.
Once upon a time, Regina paints.
She’s not good, not by a long shot, but she loves it all the same. Loves to paint the horses, the tall, breathing trees and the horizon with its promise of freedom always just out of reach. The thick oils feel luxurious in an unfamiliar way, a far cry from the extravagance of corsets and jewels and feasts. They feel sumptuous, soulful, vibrant as she lays down rich colour, and she delights in it, escapes into the stables through her mind every time she picks up the paintbrush.
Her tutor, Jasper, is handsome and smiles when she masters a new technique or finishes a work, and Regina blushes all the way down to her toes. And therein lies the problem; because mother rarely allows her daughter the distraction of hobbies, let alone friends or boys not specifically approved by her, and she’s eagle-eyed looking for any excuse to put a stop to this. The excuse comes in the form of Jasper hovering at her shoulder, guiding her hand gently and his breath in her ear, and that’s that.
Jasper is ordered to leave, banned from the estate, and mother gets her digs in about Regina's poor painting skill, and the pressure to find an eligible prince to wed heats up. She no longer has time for frivolities between other lessons and dances and tea with suitors, so she gives it up.
When Henry is little, he’s a prolific little artist. He scribbles and scribbles as she works at her desk, and they’re the most beautiful thing Regina’s ever seen. She laughs and kisses his cheek as he proudly holds up his latest masterpiece, and gently takes it from him and puts it up on the fridge with the other favourites, cooing praise all the while.
She remembers, sometimes, well, we can’t all be good at everything, Regina, and feels her stomach twist in humiliation even years later, and promises herself this is another way she will never allow herself to be like her mother.
Seemingly chaotic spirals of waxy colour become slightly messy colouring book pages – delightfully disordered as Henry colours inside the lines as best he can but takes creative liberties: blue Spiderman, green sky, pink dog, all boldly unapologetic like happy children are. “Mommy, help,” he pipes up one day during one of their Saturday Granny's breakfasts, and spreads out his crayons across the table and Regina freezes for a half-second before picking up the red.
She puts the new art up on the fridge with alphabet magnets and puts the old ones carefully into a box. Later, she’s grateful she had the foresight to save everything, because during that awful year she returns to it on the worst nights. After he finds out about the adoption in the worst way possible and gets stuck on fairy tales, Henry demands she takes everything off the fridge in a fit of anger and pre-teen embarrassment, and so those go in the box too. Between snarling fights with his birth mother and shaking panic, Regina spends all too much time gazing over those pages of childish shapes until her vision is swimming and all she can see is a garish blur.

They never pick up their comfortable colouring sessions after everything gets better again. Henry gets too old, too preoccupied with being a hero or the author or college or adventures, and Regina mourns it.
She fills her house with expensive paintings, artisanal prints of mythology, illustrations of plants in an attempt to fill the hole, make it warmer on those nights he’s gone. Her favourite is a huge horse painting that hangs above her fireplace and Regina imagines maybe she would have painted something similar if she’d been allowed the time, the encouragement to learn.
And once, in the Underworld after trying and failing to sleep curled up on one of the couches, she tries. The injured horse from earlier had stuck in her mind, had looked so much like her Rocinante but wasn’t, and the loft is dim, silent but for soft snores of Snow and Charming close by. Beyond a few minutes in the bathroom here and there it’s the closest to privacy Regina has had since they got here.
Enough for her to pick up a scrap of paper and pencil and hunch over the coffee table to draw. Regina tries to remember the arc of her steed’s neck, the angles of his muzzle, the soft fuzz at his chin, and sketches until her hand aches and her eyes grow tired.
It’s bad, but it’s not awful. She feels calmer, in the dark where no one can see her failure, mother long gone. She stares at the dark shapes meant to be his eyes, the glint and it’s off but she feels sixteen again, bringing the outside inside with her. And she feels tired, at last. Slowly, Regina lays back down under the soft blanket and allows herself this small ounce of serenity.
•
•
In Seattle, she is Roni and owns a bar and dresses in leather and old denim. She has pain – a failed adoption, an uncaring mother, an absent father, streetwise beyond her years and more loneliness than she knows what to do with, oh yes, she has pain. But the curse has taken away specific old agonies of forced marriage and murdered lovers and a mother who abuses and shames, and she might be relieved if only she knew that she’d forgotten anything.
Roni doesn’t remember never being enough in any way at all, being groomed for marriage and marriage only, denied the simple pleasures of hobbies or friends, and she’s something of a fixer-upper – handy enough to maintain the pub, physical and creative in a way Mayor Mills hadn’t ever been. Not to mention financially fucked. She can’t spare the cash for Regina’s extensive designer wardrobe even if she could stomach the idea of fast fashion.
So she does the next best thing – cuts up her tees, alters the fit with simple stitching, and one day when she has a spare few hours after a relatively slow shift, she picks up a set of cheap paints and goes to town on a jacket sitting in the back of her closet. After hours hunched over the jacket, a couple of cold beers, and a few loud spins of the Ramones, her mind is clear and her body pleasantly tired. The paint dries, and she marvels at her newly personalised jacket, adorned with tasteful flowers, unique to her, and for once, there’s no insecurity.
When Roni remembers and becomes Regina again, she admires the jacket hanging on the back of her door, trails her fingertips over the paint before finally slipping it on. Her cursed self had surprisingly done quite a good job and it’s hers and she won’t waste a perfectly comfortable jacket. (Zelena comments, one day, nudges her gently when she gets a closer look and sees the slight imperfections of a hand-paint job. “Never knew you had an artistic side, ‘Gina,” and Regina rolls her eyes and snaps a towel playfully after her, says “I don’t,” but has to hide her flushed cheeks.)
Robyn arrives in Seattle, tall and grown now, if a little rougher around the edges – her fault and in hindsight maybe the ticket to Amsterdam she hadn’t even run past Zelena had been a bad idea, much like the spellbook she’d passed on because we all experimented, Zelena. Robyn is brave and kind and funny, though, had never succumbed to the darkness or to vices like they both had even given the chance. She’s doing well, besides being, y’know, cursed, and some evenings, that bright-eyed, wild-haired girl Tilly – Alice – comes to visit and they exchange soft touches and warm smiles. (It reminds Regina painfully of a different blonde lost to her, and she turns her face down and pours out a shot.)
While Robyn dries glasses or wipes down the counter, Alice splits her time gazing at her girlfriend and hunching over a notebook, writing and doodling. Regina had seen over her shoulder once by accident, the pages and pages of loopy handwriting and beautiful drawings of stormy seas and far-off dream-realms (real, if only Alice would make the connection she’s so close to). And when Robyn gets off shift, they sit side by side and Alice explains each drawing with glinting eyes. “What about you? What do you dream about?” Alice asks, and so Robyn picks up a pencil and tentatively tries to illustrate a dreamt childhood filled with magic and mythical beasts.
(The curse breaks and for a short time, they all sit in Roni’s bar aware of what they mean to one another. Robyn smiles softly and says, “I remember when you and mom would colour with me, Aunt Regina,” and slides two pages across the bar counter towards the two witches. Regina’s mouth closes around a silent protest and she smiles too, exchanges a soft look with her sister, and grabs a purple pencil.)
The realms are united, and everyone is back together. Everything is good.
Regina sucks in a breath as she stands in one of the castle towers, looking over the kingdom. She still has her mansion, but occasionally, she likes to come up here and allow the treetops and winding rivers to clear her mind.
She sits down on a wooden stool near the window, brought up here especially for today. Actually, all of this had been acquired very discretely, just for her today. She could have summoned it, but she’s really trying to not use magic lazily these days and the ritual of gathering everything had been strangely soothing.
In front of her is a wooden easel and a small table laden with paints – oils, like she’d used as a girl, and fluffy brushes and spirit for rinsing. The blank canvas is terribly intimidating, but Regina keeps her breathing steady and reminds herself no one has to see if it turns out bad, this is just for her. To see if she can still, if it’s still as fun as she remembers. She picks up a brush and dips the tip in the pale blue and begins to work.
The time passes easily, and as the hours slip by the sky begins to turn pink, the sun warm and red and all the colours changing too fast to keep working. That’s about the time that the door creaks, and in comes Emma, a small quirk of a smile on her lips and blonde hair tumbling down her back. “How’s it going?” she murmurs, and Regina nods.
“I missed this,” she admits and surveys her work with her bottom lip between her teeth.
The blonde grins, and steps forward, her head tilted – “Can I see?”
Emma is tentative, always careful and considerate in these quiet moments despite her naturally chaotic state, and so Regina nods again, and breathes steadily. Arms wrap around her waist and a cheek rests on her shoulder as the blonde gazes at the painting, and for a long moment Regina is half-expecting disappointment or a stilted falsity.
Emma just makes this dragged out ohh sound though and tightens her embrace. “That’s really good, Regina, you never said you were good,” and Regina flushes deeply and shushes her, would maybe chuck something small and light at her if she wasn’t enjoying this hug so much.
“It’s just – practice,” Regina excuses, and lightly pushes away to spin and take Emma into her own arms, their eyes meeting. “But thank you.” She cups Emma’s jaw and brings her down to kiss her lightly, sweetly, awing all the while at how they finally got here. Her other hand trails down Emma’s cheek, and the woman feels slight wetness and whines, “Reg-ina.”
Regina smirks as Emma rubs at the smudge of wet emerald green on her cheek, only spreading it even more. “I’m so gonna get you for that,” the sheriff says with a childish grin and flicks a brush still covered in purple paint at her lover.
The paint splatters over Regina’s browbone and she gasps and then laughs, “Emma,” as she grabs ineffectually for the brush that Emma holds high above her head. Emma jumps back, bright laughter ringing against the stone walls, and her eyes are bright. Regina’s chest feels light looking at her, lunging for the brush again until she gives up and picks up a brush of her own. Emerald eyes widen and Emma murmurs a warning, backing up and still grinning until she hits the stone wall.
Regina closes in on her, presses against her, and then her sly smirk drops. Her hand closes around Emma’s wrist, pinning it as she leans in and brings their lips together tenderly. The kiss heats up, Emma moaning into her open mouth and flicking her tongue teasingly against red lips, and the brushes drop to the floor with a clatter.
And maybe they’ll regret this little paint fight when it comes time to clean up, but Regina thinks, this is what creativity, art is supposed to be like – serene solace, laughing with her lover over spilt paint, colouring with her son, drawing dreams with her family. They part, their breath huffing warm and unsteady, and she is contemplative, meeting Emma’s eyes and trailing her thumb over the woman’s plump lower lip. She’s beautiful, glowing in the soft sunset. Regina feels good and breathes into the space between them, “I think I know what I want to paint next.”

Adventures of people who have lost their souls are always the greatest, when they set their minds to something, it was almost assured that they'd get it done in order to fill the empty void that they have inside. It was similar for Jungkook and his friends, or rather, his co-workers since that's what they really are. Together, they're searching for new adventures, new mysteries to solve; they were explorers after all, always hungry for anything they could wrap their brains around. Here they sit in their headquarters, searching through books aged from time and qualified websites from Google, desperately trying to collect a hint of a new adventure, somewhere new and unexplored for them to investigate. Jungkook was searching through his typical websites, which consisted and fanatic explorers and confused hikers or travelers, but coming up with nothing. That was, until something caught his interest; an underwater graveyard, something with no explanation and no supposed previous investigator, and the coordinates were listed just under the photo of it. Brimming with anticipation and eagerness, a sly smile grew across his face. “Namjoon, I think I found our new adventure.” Jungkook whispered. “Wait what, you actually found something?” Namjoon inquired, head whipping around in response to the voice that had broken a frustrating silence between their members. Because of Namjoon's loud voice, the other two men in the room rushed over to Jungkook's desk to stare at his computer screen, looking over what they saw as Namjoon joined in. “An underwater graveyard?” One of the men, Jin, questioned, eyebrows furrowing as he leaned in closer to stare at the blurry picture displayed across the screen.
Jungkook let out a mighty huff to Jin’s response, quipping, “If you guys don't like it, I can just go by myself and you guys can stick to the old adventures that always, and I mean, always ended up with an old Greek man saying he's going to do something absolutely insane.” Jungkook took a hold of his mouse as he was about to click out of the tab, but a hand on his own stopped him. “You're not going by yourself, we've talked about this Jungkook. Just because one of us questions why you want to do it doesn't mean that we don't want to do it too, dummy. We just want your reason so we can discuss.” Namjoon reprimanded, now taking his hand off of Jungkook’s. The other man behind Namjoon wasn’t as enthusiastic as any of them were: “I don't want to go; it's in the ocean, there are sharks in, and we're going to die.” Hoseok declared, tapping his foot in what seemed like anger or extreme anxiety. “You think everything is going to kill us, you scaredy cat. I think it's a great idea, since it seems really cool, but we'll have to really research it before we go out there, since it’s near an island and all, and I'm sure we’re gonna need scuba diving training so we can collect evidence from there, so if we choose to tackle this, we’re need to start soon.” Jin pointed out, draping his arms languidly on the back of Jungkook’s desk as he smiled towards the timid man. “Namjoon, do you want to do it? ‘cause of you say yes, we’re spend the rest of today researching and finding out more about the location.” Jungkook said, looking up at the man standing beside his chair. Namjoon, being the most prominent leader of their group, always got the final say before any of them dove headfirst into the world of investigation. Namjoon raised his eyebrows knowingly at Jungkook, giving his own smirk to him before addressing the rest of the group. “Let's do it. Hoseok, you're shit out of luck my friend, we’re not going to any pyramids this time around.” Namjoon said with a laugh. He patted Jungkook’s back before walking away to begin preparations. Hoseok cried out in agony, roughly gripping his hair as he stomped away, his cowardly demeanor reigning supreme, but he was by far the best researcher that their small group had ever seen, and they had been through plenty of sketchy adventures together to know he was just nervous. Namjoon and Jungkook have been dreaming of becoming world famous explorers since they were teenagers, especially considering the fact that they're brothers and their parents did the same thing they wanted to do until they had to retire a few years back. Since then, the brothers looked around the Korea, trying to find people that thought logic was over reason, and they'd gone through at least 10 other people before they had gotten to where they currently were, with Kim Seokjin for their main evidence collector and analyzer, and Jung Hoseok as their secondary researcher with Jungkook and Namjoon filling in the gaps. The four of them worked perfectly together, their minds almost in sync with each other; they were a well oiled machine that couldn’t be stopped. Jungkook continued looking through the thread he found on this graveyard and examined photos of the island they would be staying at. Namjoon took the reigns on going fully into the the geography of the surrounding ocean and where this underwater graveyard was located, so they could travel easily and know where they were going to dive. Jin called around to find scuba diving classes for them so they could effectively explore and take photographs and Jungkook wouldn’t be heavily burdened with the task alone. Hoseok was (angrily) finding books on the history of the island and ocean what they would be expecting to encounter above and below water. They went on a researching rampage for weeks, finding every little thing they could on the island that was near the underwater graveyard, but Jungkook was still caught up with one of the photos he found of it. There seemed to be what could only called a mermaid of sorts from behind a thick veil of sand being kicked up by the photographer, picking a shell up off the ocean floor with other objects cradled in their arms. It had a black tail, pale skin that was sprinkled with freckles, and a mop of pastel blue hair, but it was only seen in that one picture, and even then it wasn’t entirely visible or reliable. It could have been edited, despite it being on the site he always used of certified photographs of adventurers. He thought of asking Hoseok what he thought it was since he had been ranting non-stop about the dangers of the ocean, but kept it to himself because it would make Hoseok not want to go even more. He shrugged it off as someone pranking the photographer or even sabotaging the photo, even after he read the photographer’s baffled explanation of what had happened how he couldn’t explain what he saw. He pushed it to the back of his mind and tried not to let it bother him too much. Another two weeks passed, and during that time all four of the explorers got their scuba lessons, their plane tickets, and a boat that they could use; Hoseok has an uncle that lives on the island and offered to take care of them while they stayed on the island as well as taking them out to where they needed to be, even if Hoseok did try to get him to deny them a place to stay so they didn't have to go in the first place. Their trip was two weeks after their scuba lessons came to an end, and Jungkook couldn't be more ecstatic for their trip, staying up all night and sharing his ideas racing through his head with Namjoon and Jin. Their unwillingness to sleep was so bad that Namjoon threatened to cancel the trip; sure, they could all sleep on the plane, but it wouldn't the greatest sleep they could get and would most likely be tired all day, but it was his own fault for encouraging the late conversations. The morning they left, they had their bags packed like they were going to be gone forever, and Jungkook liked it that way. It was his own thrill of these escapades that they go on, to think they would never come back, but he also loved the idea of returning to his comfy bed and safety of his home. The plane ride would be one of the longest they would have to go on since they had become a group, but it would be well worth it, finally stepping out of their comfort zones and doing a case out in the ocean instead of on land where they normally thrive. On the plane, Namjoon got the worst seat of the bunch, his seat was constantly being kicked from behind by a whiny four year old and he was one too many seat kicks in to even fully care once they were in the last 30 minutes of flight. Jungkook offered to switch with him at least twice as he stared at his sleep deprived brother, but Namjoon was as stubborn as a mule, putting up with it through the 10 plus hour flight. The moment they landed and got their stuff Hobi started in on his cowardly screeching about how the flight they had just been on was the worst one by far, although, that was purely his opinion, as everyone else had thought it was an okay flight. The turbulence may have been slightly more extreme than normal, but it really didn't take much to spook Hobi. Hobi’s uncle was in the airport lobby waiting for the four men to come down the stairs. Of course, the man was excited to see his nephew after it had been so many years since he'd last seen him. After a hug between the uncle and nephew, the man introduced himself to the others and started leading them towards the exit so they could get to the house that they would be staying in. However, it wasn’t so much a house, and it was less than impressive in its size, especially because the four of them were all sharing one small room in what Jin considered a peasant hut. The first few hours on the island were spent napping, as the flight had left them all drained and exhausted. It was to be expected that they would feel that way. Jungkook awoke late into the evening, long before anyone else was stirring, and softly padded through the house and went outside to go on a short walk. He ended up walking by a pier, where he sat down on the edge with his feet hanging off, but not quite touching the water. The moonlight cascaded across the water, the sheen reflecting into Jungkook’s eyes. He watched the waves hit the rocks, making soft splashing noises that felt all too calming in this surreal environment. When Jungkook initially went to the pier, he didn't intend on finding anything, but something rather curious appeared before his eyes. He saw a silhouette of a person up on a rock, sitting and bathing in the moonlight. It felt all too much like a feverish dream, as from what he could see, it looked eerily like the mermaid figure from the image he had looked at before the group arrived on the island. The hair on top of their head seemed to glow white in the moonlight, their facial features, from what Jungkook could see, were sharp but also gentle. Jungkook couldn't stop himself from standing up on the pier to get a better look at them. Letting his impulses get the best of him, Jungkook cupped his hands into an O shape and began to shout, “Hello, you over there on the rock! What are you doing out so late?” This shout seemed to get their attention, but instead of replying, they jumped off the rock and dove into the water. Jungkook waited a moment, but they didn't reappear after that. It confused the explorer, but all he could do was start walking back as he shook his head, as he needed to head back before someone else woke up and started to worry that he went missing. Jungkook arrived back at the house when the sun started rising, and the only person up was Hobi’s uncle, who seemed surprised when Jungkook stumbled back into the house looking confused yet amazed. “Where'd you go this early in the morning?” The man asked, pouring himself a cup of coffee. He took a seat on a lopsided chair that creaked under his weight next to an equally slanted tea table. Jungkook laughed quietly. “I, uh, went down to the pier, and it left me with a question.” The man hummed as he took a long drag of his coffee, encouraging Jungkook to continue. “What is it?” “Is it possible, say, that there are mermaids around here? I-I know it sounds crazy, but while we were looking up information about this island, there was this picture that appeared and it looked like, well, a mermaid. I thought a local like you would know more about it than the internet.” Jungkook questioned, twiddling with his thumbs as the man continued to take a sip of his coffee. The man only chuckled at Jungkook's question. “Kid, do you really think mermaids exist? ‘cause if you do, I got some news for you.” “I'm skeptical at best, but lay it on me.” Jungkook said, perking up and every trace of timidness leaving his body as he leaned towards the man. The man made a “come hither” motion with his fingers, telling Jungkook to come in closer. He stepped up to the table and leaned in towards Jungkook, and whispered, “They're not real. Get your head out of the clouds, kid.” Jungkook didn't say anything, grimacing as he fell back into his seat, his face saying everything for him. Hobi’s uncle seemed to feel at least slightly guilty after telling Jungkook that, but he needed to know the truth.
There was an awkward silence for a few moments before Hobi’s uncle spoke again. “We're heading out to sea in a few hours, why don't you go in and wake everyone up so they can get ready to go.” Jungkook nodded. He headed off into the shared room and saw that Jin was already awake, sitting on the edge of the bed attempting to lace up his boots. “Good morning, Jin.” Jungkook said quietly, as to not wake up the others. “I heard your conversation with Hobi's uncle. What did you see that made you think that mermaids exist?” Jin asked, quickly tying his laces as he went to stand up to face Jungkook. “I saw a man, at least I think it was, sitting up on a rock a little ways into the ocean, and I tried saying hi to him and asked him what he was doing, but I think I scared him, so he jumped into the water and didn't resurface like anyone else would have. So, I think I saw a mermaid.” Jungkook rambled on, confusion painted across his face. Jin hummed as he tapped his index finger to his lower lip. “I think you could be onto something, but then again, I believed it when I saw it the picture from a while back. Maybe we'll find out more today.” Jungkook grinned, nodding before he went to wake up Namjoon and Hobi and nag them to start getting ready. It only took an hour for them to prep and pack up food they'd need for the several hour boat trip. Hobi’s uncle drove the boat after Namjoon had given him the coordinates to the approximate area the underwater cemetery was, and it was only then that the group decided who would be diving in and checking out the cemetery. Jungkook and Jin volunteered to go and got prepared as the boat came to a stop. They both slipped into the water with their gear and dived under to be quickly met with the cemetery, but it wasn’t without surprise. Jungkook tried to gasp, but he stopped himself before he could, because the probability of choking was high. Hobi’s uncle was wrong. Mermaids were real. The same one from the photo was right in front of the pair of young men, a black tail calmly swishing back and forth, freckled pale skin crowned with pastel blue hair and all. Jin looked at Jungkook in surprise and they both swam back up. It had been less than five minutes since they’d gone down, and when they surfaced, Namjoon looked surprised when both of them popped back up so quickly, Hoseok panicking and throwing a camera he was holding in his panic. “What’s going on, what happened?” Namjoon asked, rushing to peer over at the two who were still in the water. Jungkook took out his mouth piece to speak to Namjoon. “We saw- we saw a mermaid, Hobi’s uncle lied.” “What the hell are you going on about? You probably saw a fish of all things, now get back down there and look around. We may have all day, but that doesn't mean I want to be out here for that long.” Hobi's uncle shouted from the captain's bay.
Jungkook sighed before looking over to Jin with a saddened look. Jin could only try to comfort the boy with a reassuring smile before they went back under the water. When they went back down, the mermaid they had seen was already gone and all that was left was the ruins of the cemetery, completely open for them to explore.
Jungkook swam to get closer to one of the headstones that had been previously caked with sand and seaweed, but he could make out some of the words on the headstone. Jin was right next to him with their underwater camera taking photos of each thing Jungkook had pointed out, however the photo session had ended rather quickly when the same mermaid from before came between Jin and Jungkook, looking rather upset with the two of them. The boys were taken aback. The mermaid pointed up at the surface and Jin, being the coward he is, swam up as fast as he could. Jungkook hesitated for a moment before the mermaid got fed up with waiting and grabbed Jungkook’s arm, dragging him up to the surface with no remorse.
When Jungkook broke to the surface he looked around and saw that the mermaid from before was in front of them. He was pushing his pastel blue hair back from his face and looked at Jin and Jungkook angrily. They were a short distance away from the boat.
“What are you two doing? You don’t have permission from my leader to touch those!” The mermaid yelled.
Jin and Jungkook looked at each other in shock before Jungkook replied to the angry creature. “You see, we’re explorers. We found this place, and we wanted to solve the mystery as to why it was down there in the first place, please don’t yell at us.”
The mermaid’s expression softened. “Oh… I suppose you’re not from around here, with all the legends and history and all. If you wish, I can bring my leader to you and you may ask permission to continue your search.”
Jin smiled gratefully. “That would be wonderful, uh, whatever your name is.”
The mermaid looked a bit surprised. “I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Yoongi, merprince of the Grand Isles. It’s wonderful to make your acquaintance.”
Jungkook tried not to look shocked. “Well Yoongi, I’m Jungkook, and this is my friend Jin. The rest of my friends are on the boat, they will greet you when you come back with your leader.”
Yoongi nodded and dove back down into the water. Both Jin and Jungkook looked up the boat to see the shocked faces of Namjoon, Hobi, and Hobi’s uncle. They couldn’t believe what had just gone down. It only took a matter of minutes for Namjoon and Hobi to put on their wetsuits and gear to join them in the water, and only a few more for Yoongi to return with his leader. There were a few complications, as his leader had run head first into the boat, thinking that it was a whale he had made friends with.
“Yoongi, how can you trust these people? They travel by whale and you of all people should know why we don’t deal with people who ride whales out into our area.” The leader said, holding his head as he spoke.
Yoongi sighed. “It’s not a whale Tae, it’s what they call a boat. I’m not exactly sure what that is, but it’s not an animal, that’s for sure.”
Jungkook cleared his throat to catch the attention of the two merpeople in front of him. “Uhm, sorry to interrupt, but I just needed to ask you a question.”
The mermaid who hit his head on the boat, who Jungkook assumed was named Tae, whipped around and looked at Jungkook dead in the face. “Oh, yes, what’s your question land prince?”
Jungkook tried not to laugh at being called a “land prince”. “It was brought to my attention that I needed your permission to investigate that cemetery under the water, so if you could please give us the permission to do so, that would be lovely.”
Tae hummed, bobbing up and down in the water. “You may, land prince, but Yoongi must assist you. He knows the area better than I, so I will leave this to you land princes, thank you for asking.”
Yoongi looked shocked. “Taehyung, are you sure? Wouldn’t Jimin be a better fit for this? He’s better with the land people than I am.”
Taehyung sighed. “Jimin is busy dealing with your mother and her hoarding problem, and if you’re not careful, he’ll be helping you with that next.”
“I’m not a hoarder! I just have a shell collection!” Yoongi exclaimed, crossing his arms across his chest.
Jin chuckled at the banter between the two men. “Thank you for allowing us to do this, is there anyway we can repay you for this?”
Taehyung snapped quickly to look at Jin. “Hmm, you are land people, what can you give me in return?” He pondered for a moment before looking at Jungkook, giving him a once-over. “Can I have that shiny thing around your neck, land prince?”
Jungkook looked at his neck. His small gold chain had escaped from inside his wetsuit. Jungkook nodded quickly. “You can have this one, be sure to take care of it.”
He unclasped the necklace from his neck and quickly went to put it on Taehyung. The mermaid looked at it around his neck, overjoyed and quickly hugged Jungkook before diving back down into the water, and Jungkook could only assume he was going back to wherever he lived in the ocean.
Yoongi then sighed and looked at the four men in the water. “If I’m helping, what do you want me to do?”
Jin looked down at the camera. “My tank is almost out, so can you help Jungkook by taking pictures of the things he points at? Do you think you can handle that?”
“What’s a picture?” Yoongi asked dumbfoundedly.
Jungkook felt like it was a silly question, but then he remembered, Yoongi had probably never seen a camera in his life. “You see that thing around Jin’s neck? It takes pictures. Pictures are a snapshot of something you’re seeing in this very moment, and are used for memory or evidence. All you have to do is point the end with the big protruding cylinder at what I point to, and then press the little button on the top right side for the camera to save it.”
Yoongi nodded. “I think I understand. I think I can do that, but why do you need these pictures, can’t you just stay here until you figure it out?”
Hobi shook his head. “No, we can’t stay in the water like you, we have to go back home before the sun sets and it gets dark, so we need these pictures so we can analyze them and come back tomorrow to see if we can find more stuff about the cemetery.”
Yoongi pouted. “What am I supposed to do while you’re gone? I can’t come with you to land.”
Namjoon looked a bit upset. “You have friends you can spend time with, right? We can come find you tomorrow morning when we get back out here, okay?”
Yoongi nodded, his pout still on his face. Jin handed Yoongi the camera and left Jungkook and Yoongi to take the pictures. For Yoongi’s first time with a camera, he didn’t do too bad. They only had to retake a few of the pictures that Yoongi had accidently gotten his finger in, which was impressive to say the least. Jungkook expected to have to retake a bunch more, but at this rate, he had high hopes for Yoongi being their helper.
Before Jungkook and the others got back up on the boat Yoongi stopped them and looked at the four of them with determination in his eyes.
“In return for helping you, may I ask that you teach me land prince things? I would love to know how you do things up there.” Yoongi huffed shyly.
Jungkook smiled. “Of course, Yoongi. We can help with that.”
Yoongi got a slight blush on his face, but the other men couldn’t see it as they were all climbing back up on the boat so they could head back to shore. There was only silence between the men on the boat, mainly because of the heat finally hitting them after being on the boat for so long, the trip back to the pier seeming like it took less time than it took to get out there in the first place. The moment they stepped off the boat, exhaustion hit them all like ton of bricks, whether it was from the jet lag still clinging on to them or because of being on a boat all day, but they were all ready to crash when they stepped into the the house, even if it meant literally piling on top of each other.
The only thing the boys did before deciding to go to bed was eat the meal that Hobi’s uncle had cooked up before stumbling down the hallway to their room. The room echoed with the sounds of snores of four tired men. At first Jungkook couldn’t get comfortable in the dog pile that ended up happening, he got used to the pressure of the bodies on top of him that kept him warm and cozy. Jungkook had wanted to sleep for the rest of eternity, but only after a few hours of sleep he was awoken by something strange. Luckily for him the others had all managed to roll off him and had either ended up beside him or on the ground.
He quickly got out of bed and shuffled his way out of the room and to the hallway. The house was extremely dark, the only light coming from the moon the shone through the windows. That’s when he heard the noise again, this time, more clear. Someone was crying for help. Jungkook ran to the door and slipped on his shoes before bolting outside to find the source of the screaming. He first looked over to the pier, trying to see if it was someone stuck on the sea. But he saw nothing, it wasn’t until he looked over to the small beach that he saw it, or him, as Jungkook recognized the body on the sandy beach and tried to sprint there as fast as he could.
Jungkook didn’t care how much his shoes were kicking up sand, he needed to get to Yoongi, who had somehow got himself beached about halfway up from the water. Jungkook must have gotten to Yoongi just in time, as he looked so happy to see Jungkook running towards him at full speed to save him. Jungkook quickly picked Yoongi up and ran with him in his arms towards the ocean. He let himself get to chest level in the water before letting Yoongi out of his arms to swim on his own.
“Yoongi, what the hell were you thinking, you can’t just go on land like that!” Jungkook shouted.
Yoongi covered his ears over Jungkook’s loud voice. “Don’t shout at me, it hurts my ears. I followed you and your other land friends back here and I thought that maybe if I went on land I would turn human...again.”
Jungkook looked at Yoongi confusedly. “Again? What do you mean again?”
Yoongi huffed. “It’s all sort of hazy, but I remember walking on this beach, but then everything went black and I was in the water, and I had a tail and gills. I’ve been in the ocean since then, but every now and then I get flashes of that day, I remember seeing the cemetery and I hear someone else’s voice there with me, reading some sort of incantation in the language of the sea, but that’s all I remember right now, but I have a feeling that something is going on that has to do with the cemetery and why my memories are all hazy and why I became, well this.”
Jungkook gave Yoongi a baffled look. “Yoongi, you’ve just helped us so much, I’ll explain tomorrow, but I think you just helped link a lot of things that didn’t make sense before.”
Yoongi clapped his hands happily. “I helped!”
“Yes you did, now, you stay here in the water until morning, the others will come down here with me so you can hopefully dig in your memories to figure out more about that day. I need to get back to the house before someone realizes I’m gone again.” Jungkook said.
Yoongi nodded, but quickly looked at Jungkook. “Were you the one who was shouting last night, to get my attention?”
Jungkook slowly nodded. “Let me guess, you were the person on the rock that I saw.”
Yoongi laughed lightly. “Yeah, I was… why don’t you stay here, I’ll protect you from the water and from people who like coming to the beach during the morning.”
“Yoongi, I can’t. I’m all wet and I’ll catch a cold, which isn’t ideal right now.” Jungkook said sadly.
Yoongi huffed and crossed his arms against his chest. “Fine, but can you do one thing before you leave?”
“Sure, what do you want me to do Yoongi?” Jungkook asked.
“Can you boop my nose?” Yoongi asked with slight hesitation.
“Boop your nose? Why?” Jungkook asked.
“I-I just remembered someone booping my nose before I was like this, and thought it would help jumpstart my memories and help more-” Yoongi started.
His words were interrupted by Jungkook lightly touching his finger to Yoongi’s nose and softly pressing on the tip. Yoongi got a slight blush on his face before his face went completely blank and his eyes seemed to unfocus themselves from Jungkook’s face as he fell forward on to Jungkook’s chest. He caught him quickly before he could face plant into the water. There was a slight moment of panic when Yoongi's chin thudded against Jungkook's shoulder and didn't move for a moment, Jungkook could feel Yoongi's tail moving at a surprisingly fast rate, and it made Jungkook worry. He held on to Yoongi's body until he finally rose his head off Jungkook's shoulder and looked him in the eyes.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that, I just had something come back to me and it wasn't expected." Yoongi said, slowly pushing himself off Jungkook.
Jungkook smiled softly. "Don't worry about it, okay? You can tell me everything that you just remembered when I come back later, I promise."
Yoongi finally nodded in agreement before Jungkook trudged his way out of the water. His clothing completely soaked with the salt water and his shoes suctioning themselves to the ocean floor. Yoongi watched sadly as Jungkook walked out of his sight, his figure shrinking and finally disappearing after getting up the steep hill that lead from the road to the beach. Jungkook felt bad about leaving Yoongi down there all by himself, especially after he'd just started helping Jungkook in figuring out how the cemetery had ended up on the ocean floor. The moment he made it back to the house, he saw all the lights on and at least three people looking worried. It was dead silent when Jungkook walked through the door. Jin, Namjoon and Hobi looked at him with relief when they saw him standing in the entrance way. Namjoon had a look in his eye that only Jungkook could understand.
"Namjoon, don't you dare hug me, I'm all wet and smell like sea water." Jungkook sighed.
Namjoon scoffed and looked at Jungkook with a smile. "Fine, but where the fuck did you go?"
"I'll tell you here in a minute, let me at least put on some dry clothes before I spill what the hell is going on here." Jungkook said, holding his arms up defensively.
The three men nodded before Jungkook took off to their shared bedroom so he could throw on a new shirt and a pair of sweats. He looked at himself in the mirror before he could walk out of the room, seeing his skin had been sunburned from the day previous, maybe he should have invested in some stronger sunscreen than he had used yesterday.
Jungkook walked out of the room once more and saw the three men squished on to the small striped sofa, all eagerly awaiting Jungkook to tell them about where he'd just been and why he was all wet. He grabbed one of the dining chairs and sat down in front of them.
Jungkook cleared his throat before he spoke. "So, I was down at the beach. I was only down there because I got woken up by someone screaming for help, and I'm glad I did because Yoongi had somehow made it halfway up the beach and seemed like he was going to die, so I just grabbed him and ran into the water to make sure he was okay, but after I did that he told me something interesting."
Jin looked confused. "What was it?"
"He used to be human. He's trying to remember how he ended up as mermaid, but he said it was all sort of hazy. I told him that he could explain the rest later when we go down there later, since he remembered more after I booped his nose." Jungkook said.
Namjoon laughed. "Why did you boop his nose?"
Jungkook sputtered. "U-uh he-he asked me to."
Hobi moved himself closer to the edge and pointed his finger at Jungkook. "How did he end up all the way up here? That's my question."
"He followed us back, don't worry about it, but the thing is, I think Yoongi is going to be able to help us a lot more than I originally thought." Jungkook said.
"Why do you say that, did he say something that added to our evidence?" Jin asked.
Jungkook nodded. "I should probably let him explain, he'll have all the details."
"Are we going down there now?" Hobi asked.
Jin shrugged. "I don't see why we can't, Yoongi must be lonely down there just waiting for us, don't you think?"
"Why not, let's get shoes on and head down there." Namjoon said.
Jungkook grabbed his second pair of slides that he had conveniently brought with him. The four men walked down the quiet roads until they reached the beach, where Jungkook spotted Yoongi resting his head on a rock near the shore, where his gills were still covered and he could breathe just fine. The four of them approached slowly, letting Jungkook lead the way. He stopped shortly before Yoongi's form, he didn't stir when Jungkook said his name. Yoongi had fallen asleep in the short time of Jungkook going back to the house, changing and coming back. Jungkook squatted down in front of Yoongi's head, softly running his fingers through his pastel locks before saying his name again. This time Yoongi looked up at the smiling Jungkook, who he'd never thought he's be happier to see again so quick.
"Hello land prince Jungkook." Yoongi said, a gummy smile appearing on his face.
"I brought the others with me so you can tell them what you told me, plus tell us what happened just before I left to get them." Jungkook said softly.
Yoongi lifted his head up and mumbled to himself before he looked at the four boys in front of him. "Listen. I'm sure Jungkook already told you I used to be human, but not everything, but as he probably said, I used to be human and I somehow ended up as a mermaid, and all I remember from that day was this lady touching my nose after some incantations in the language of the sea, and then I suddenly had a tail and gills. It all seems to have something to do with the cemetery though."
"I see what you mean now Jungkook. I'll be right back, I'm gonna go grab the pictures we took from yesterday and grab some drinks for us to try to start solving what's going on here, because I have a feeling there's a reason for Yoongi connecting some of this." Namjoon said, turning on his toes to run back towards the house.
In an unexpected turn the others left the Jungkook and Yoongi alone on the beach, which confused Jungkook quite a bit, but Yoongi didn't seem to mind much. Jungkook knew that they would be right back, but he couldn't help but to think that maybe being by himself with Yoongi was a good idea, as the man had taken a liking to him and he was rather okay with it. Jungkook looked down at Yoongi from his still squatting position and softly patted his head, getting the man's attention.
“Yes Jungkook?” Yoongi asked.
“It's nothing I just wanted to pat your head. Your hair feels a lot softer than I thought it would be.” Jungkook said, softly smiling at Yoongi.
A soft blush appeared on Yoongi's face. “H-hey Jungkook, could you uh… maybe do me a favor?”
Jungkook looked surprised. “What could this favor possibly be?”
“You see, I don't remember what a lot from when I was human, and I uh, I want you to kiss me.” Yoongi said, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.
“Kiss you?” Jungkook asked.
“Uh yes, but I get it if you don't want to I get it, I'm part fish and uh-” Yoongi said, but stopped.
Jungkook was leaning in towards Yoongi’s face, their lips centimeters from meeting, just when Yoongi thought he was going to get what he wanted, someone yelling erupted from the entrance of the beach.
“We got all the stuff, we can start figuring everything out now!” Jin exclaimed excitedly as he ran towards both Jungkook and Yoongi.
Yoongi groaned and Jungkook backed away quickly as the others came running back up to the two men. Jungkook sighed and turned his attention to his partners running down the beach and with sand kicking up behind them until they came to a stop in front of them. They spent hours going through their pictures to connect what Yoongi was saying to their current evidence, only to come to a dead end, the only connections that they could make was the missing persons list from the area and the headstones that lied beneath the water, at least until Yoongi had another episode when Namjoon accidentally fell into the water after almost falling asleep after being sleep deprived for the last couple of days.
When Yoongi woke back up he looked panicked and like he was ready to jump out of his skin.
Jungkook looked worried about Yoongi before placing his hand on his back. “Are you okay Yoongi, what'd you remember?”
Yoongi gulped before speaking. “Sea witch, she's the one who kidnapped me and made me like this.”
Jungkook looked at Yoongi in shock before something seemed to switch in the air before them, and it seemed to scare off Yoongi as he plunged himself back into the water, but it seemed to quickly make sense as rain began pouring down from the sky and the four men had to run back to Hobi’s uncle's house to stay safe.
The rain had truly been upsetting for Jungkook, he'd wanted to finish Yoongi’s favor. He wasn't going to lie, in the short amount of time he'd taken a liking to Yoongi, he was a pretty boy and Jungkook quite liked his personality, but it was difficult to go see Yoongi once more, storms had gone through, making things difficult to leave or even say goodbye to Yoongi, but soon enough the sun finally shone through the sky and let the sky become blue instead of the green-grey it had been for weeks now.
The first thing Jungkook did when he saw the skies had cleared and there was no more rain, he sprinted down to the pier to see if Yoongi was anywhere in sight, and he stayed there almost all day, with no success in finding Yoongi, Jungkook knew he probably shouldn't have fallen for a man from the sea. When sunset came Jungkook finally decided to turn back towards Hobi’s uncle's house, feeling dejected and upset.
The street lights illuminated the streets as the sun went down and as he went back towards the house, but something stopped him, there was a shout and the sound of feet hitting the pavement. Jungkook turned around to see someone in the distance, he'd stopped in his tracks and watched as the person stopped in the street light, that shone on him like a spot light. It was Yoongi. Jungkook felt his heart jump to his throat as he ran towards the man in happiness.
Yoongi smiled and opened his arms to let Jungkook hug him, and the impact of the hug nearly knocked Yoongi on to the ground, the smile on both of their faces was enough to say thousands of unsaid words. It was only then that Jungkook pressed his lips into Yoongi’s, their lips molding perfectly to each other. Their kiss seemed to feel like it was going to last forever, but it was truly only seconds.
When Jungkook pulled away from Yoongi, it was only then did he realize that Yoongi was completely nude and that Yoongi had become embarrassed over his lack of clothing.
Jungkook chuckled. “You're cute when you're embarrassed, but let's head up to the house, I'm sure Hobi has some clothes that will fit you.”
Yoongi nodded and smiled. “Thank you, being nude isn't fun when you're trying to find someone in the dark.”
Jungkook laughed in agreement as Yoongi took his hand and they both walked up the roads to Hobi’s uncle's house. It was busy in there as they had finished their research and Jin had started working on an outline for their report for when they got back to Korea, but everything seemed to stop when the two of them walked through the door, and almost as if Hobi could read Jungkook's mind he motioned Yoongi over to him to take him into their cramped bedroom to get him some at least decent fitting clothes. When Yoongi and Hobi stepped back out, Yoongi went right back to Jungkook's side and quickly, clinging to his arm as fast as he could.
Yoongi had helped Jungkook pack up his things and looked sad when he realized that Jungkook would be leaving him on the island, never to be seen again.
“Jungkookie, can I go with you?” Yoongi asked quietly.
Jungkook turned to the man on the floor. “I don't know, do you have a passport to get back to Korea?”
Yoongi shook his head. “I don't know where it is. I was down there for so long that I'm not even sure if I had one.”
Jungkook sighed. “I know you don't wanna stay here, but I may be able to do something, since you were on the missing persons list, I'm sure they can get you back there no problem.”
Yoongi smiled the same gummy smile that Jungkook had quickly fallen for from the moment he saw it.
Returning home was a total 180 from their flight to the island, it was quiet and very little turbulence, but as soon as they returned to the office, called the missing persons line to get Yoongi back to Korea after deciding that he would stay until they got back. The report of what was going on out in the ocean had gone out and reached government officials quickly, who quickly shut down accusations of their report being fictitious and a scam, as they had known of the existence of the creatures before they had discovered them on the island.
It only took a week for Yoongi to return to Korea and to have Jungkook back in his arms. Yoongi had most of his memories back at this point and enjoyed knowing that he wasn't going to have to be retaught everything, which was fortunate as Yoongi wanted to restart his life, but with Jungkook now in the picture, and he liked it that way.

Eddsworld miscellaneous hcs
ok there's probably like 100 of these already or something, but I thought I'd add mine anyway, because hey, it's fun and I'll probably change or add a few later. (Also this ended up waaaaaaaay longer then i meant it to be wh o ops so uh be warned its pretty damn long-)
Tom:
Shortest! (i know it's normally either edd or tord, but after seeing saloonatics, I just couldn't resist the idea of the grumpiest one being the smallest. Cute right?)
Relatively strong arms, more fat around his stomach and torso then his legs.
Occasionally works gigs at local clubs and stuff for money.
Doesn't have much social media aside from Facebook so he can occasionally stalk his old college mates.
He actually likes sports like football and tennis. (His favourite sport is seeing how many bars he can hit up in one nigh-//shot//)
His hair smells like pineapple! (And the rest of him like booze-)
He's up for pretty much anything if he's drunk enough to have fun and not remember enough to regret it
But not bowling.
N e ve r bo wl ing
He's still got a scar on his left arm from The End. :( But Matt and Edd helped him to fix it up, so it's all good!
He's actually a pretty chill and sensible guy, and despite being snarky and sarcastic whenever he can, he genuinely cares about his relationships with people, scared that one day they'll get bored of him and cast him aside. He's really just a goofball with big city dreams of becoming a rockstar.
Spends like two hours in the shower crying and listening to MCR
His favourite show is Bad Education. It's good for when he needs cheering up.
He likes snacks and foods that are crunch, and salty, spicy, and sometimes savoury. So Crisps, Pringles, Doritos, chex mix etc.
Edd:
Second shortest/third tallest
Kinda chubby tbh but he's the BEST at hugs.
His forearm game is actually pretty strong because of all the time he spends making art to pay for their bills (because hey, someone's gotta do it amirite). You don't wanna head into an arm-wrestling contest with this guy.
Makes money by selling his art and also taste-testing all the latest cola products! (Just...not the diet ones).
Aside from a devianart, redbubble and maybe even a tumblr for art commissions, he doesn't really care about social media. Or regular media. Politics who?
His favourite sport? Seeing how many cans of cola he can get through on an especially difficult project. (Cricket always looked kind of fun though)
Smells like cola and not taking a shower in days because he HAS to get the lineart perfect and edd are you ok when was the last time you slept- (jokes aside, i can see him smelling like graphite and paints and sharpies from his art supplies).
Can pull the perfect poker face like damn son having a baby face sure comes in handy when lying to your roomate about why there's broken guitar strings hanging out of Ringo's mouth again
Has a scar on the inside of his eyelid from the time Tom 'accidently' poked him in the eye with a pencil (...may or may not be based off personal experience)
Edd is pretty friendly and open with people, he likes getting to know them and joking around. He's the Ultimate Punmaster ™, and loves nothing more to poke fun. He sees the world through the eyes of a cartoonist, and will never miss a comedic opportunity.
Be warned! He's actually fairly smart, and can read people well, knowing just how to really get under someone's skin. It's a good thing he can't be bothered with any of that though.
Gets his best ideas either in the tub or when hes just about to sleep. Because of that, he keeps a water-proof and regular notebook. Nearly had a heart-attack countless times because he accidently swapped them around.
Despite his complaints about absurd plot conveniences, he actually likes Doctor Wh- i mean "Proffesor Why", there's just something about the concept of time travel...he also likes cartoons! Like, a lot. He'll watch most anything and everything if it's animated and the writing is decent.
Likes anything sour, sweet, and chewy! So Jelly Babies, Wine gums, Sour patch kids, that kind of thing
Tord:
(Most of these are heavily based upon his life as Red Leader so sorry if you were looking for more domestic Tord. Maybe I'll do seperate hcs for that one day)
Second tallest! Quite a bit taller then Tom, a bit taller then Edd, just about average height, if a bit taller. He's closer to Matt in height then Edd.
He's actually quite well-built! You wouldn't think it because of the baggy hoodie he wears but he's got pretty good muscle, and his endurance and strength is well above the others. This mostly comes from the logic that he's been training and leading the Red Army, so it just makes sense to me that he'd resemble a soldier physically, yknow? AU-wise, or before he started the whole world domination thing, he'd be a little more scrawny, but he could still kick everyone's ass (he probably tried copying numerous anime battle stances lol-)
He's pretty well off, it turns out you can get quite rich by adopting some uh...rather unconventional means of money-making. Of course you could always say he just sold his inventions.
Does having your own private network of underground intelligence-gathering units count as social media? No? Nevermind.(He has a hentaihaven account-)
He likes dodgeball, archery, and you guessed it, arcade shooter games. Anything where he can point and hit something basically.
He smells like gunpowder, dirt, oil from machine maintenance and the cold? Like if the cold had a smell, he would have that smell, does that make sense? He also probably smells like Old Spice because idfk it just reminds me of him ok.
He doesn't exactly get out to socialise much, be prefers to stay at his desk, or curled up next to the fire with a mug of hot cider when he wants to relax. Sometimes Paul and Pat will drag him outside when they think he needs a breath of fresh air, and they'll go visit the nearest marketplace for food and other supplies. He likes strategic games like Chess or Draughts, and it's a good way to show off and get practice at the same time.
Scar-wise, he probably has quite a few from his fights. Post-the end, I'm not sure what would happen to him, since I've seen people go in a lot of different directions. I DO think he'd replace him arm with the robotic one, since that seemed too heavily implied to not happen. Regarding his face, I think the burns and stuff would probably heal over time, and depending on the technology in the future, he'd either still have some heavy scarring, or maybe he'd develop some kind of treatment so that it restores him to almost fully healed. He could always go the cyborg route and end up half-man half-machine like we see with future Matt and Tom.
(About the patch on his face, I have a theory about how he he aquired that scar/injury. See, I don't think Tord founded Red Army by himself, no. I think he was introduced to it by Paul (who we see in the same classroom as them in Poweredd) who was kept back a few years cause....uh...yknow- Anyway I have a theory that Tord eventually climbed the ranks until he became second-in-command, and he then murdered Red Leader and took his title. Their fight is where he got that injury. It's not really canon-supported much, but I find it an interesting concept!)
You've probably guessed, but I kind of disgree with Tord's portrayal sometimes. I think I prefer the darker, meaner side to him. I wouldn't say he's (completely) evil, but I'm not really one for the whole "self-hating, regretful angsty Tord who just wants some love and support" and stuff. I mean, it's cute with ships amd fluff, amd ideally he does make amends and rejoin the group, but I just like the thought that he's genuinely not a nice guy yknow? Like, he's actually done some fucked up stuff, and The End is probably just one case. (Of course this is all opinion based so feel free to disagree if u wanna wheeze-)
Has the WORST sleeping schedule. Has been known to fall asleep in the bath/shower.
He prefers movies to shows. His favourite is the Kingsman series (he can relate on many different levels).
Likes bittersweet things, (just like his personality amirite-). So cake with coffee, or tarts, liquorice, hard candy, that kind of thing.
Matt:
(My favourite-)
He tol. Tallest of them all!
Someone once described him as "borderline twink" and tbh i agree. I feel like he'd have a slightly feminine figure (which is perfectly normal!) and he both rocks it, and knows he does.
He works at a nail salon every now and again, his self-confidence and bubbliness makes him get along well with customers. (Also Matt would definitely wear nail polish ok dont even try to convince me otherwise. Actually speaking of,)
He has EVERY kind of social media possible. Instagram, twitter, facebook, tumblr, facebook, snapchat, you name it! He's especially prominent on instagram. He likes to keep an ~aesthetic~
He likes gymnastics and dance, activities like that. Anything which puts him in a creative spotlight. He'd probably take up acting classes, and then insist on only being given monologues.
He'd probably have quite a pleasant and nature-y smell? Like uhh citrus-y, pine tree, a hint of flowers, that kind of thing. Although he'd DEFINITELY slap on way too much cologne on a date or something and end up smelling like he just emptied out a bottle of febreeze.
He'd probably go out quite a lot! I can see Matt being a social butterfly, his friendliness and general likeability probably mean that he's got a few friends and stuff around. I can also see him as the kind of person who'd enjoy taking walks in the park, sitting below a tree, that kind of thing. He probably runs a self-love session (that works a little TOO well). He wants to get out there and show off his beautiful face, so it doesn't take a lot to drag him outside (provided you keep a mirror on you, that is).
He doesn't really have any physical scars. I mean, i do hc him with freckles, but they don't count so. he has a mental scar. After he hit himself with the memory eraser gun, he completely erased his memories. It took a while for him to settle onto the personality he has now. His face was the one thing that he knew for certain held a sense of familiarity and stability, so that's partly why his narcissism boomed so much. He sometimes gets random flashbacks of being a zombeh leader, being less of a nicer person, and it can be quite unnerving for him. He also has other memory issues, which is why he can forget things so easily, and comes across as an idiot most of the time.
He can be quite oblivious, but I dont think hes a total idiot. He can read people fairly well, and is emotionally intelligent. He says stupid things sometimes despite knowing they'll get a reaction, just because he wants to, and thinks that life should be as fun and full of joy as possible. He's too trusting, and wants to see the good in everyone. At the end of the day, if you disrespect him (and his face), you'll see that he can be more then just the nice guy.
LUSH!! Matt is HERE for all those lush products. I'm talking bath bombs, lip scrubs, shower jellies, all that good stuff! And ofc he has like 100+ products for his hair and skincare routine, because let's face it, it's Matt. I also like to think he owns a bunch of bath toys and rubber duckies, and like the kid at heart he is, he'll sit in a bubble bath playing with them, and re-enacting all of their adventures.
He mostly prefers youtube videos over TV, so you bet he's subscribed to all the beauty gurus, vloggers, people like that. He does think children's cartoons are nice to watch though, so every once in a while he'll force Tom and Edd to sit with him and watch the latest season of My little pony.
He likes anything sweet and fun to look at! Especially if it's trending, so he can post pictures of himself eating/drinking it. So if there's another rolled ice cream/new starbucks-ccino/unicorn themed food item floating about, he'll probably be trying it.
(Ah man this turned out way longer then i thought. It went from simple headcanons to like full blown theories whoops- maybe i should make seperate posts if its too difficult to read? Anyway let me know what you think nonetheless!)

What guests are saying:
“Beautiful Butler City Apartment is indeed a beautiful apartment. Everything was very nice, and the apartment was a beautiful, cozy place. The couch and beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was very modern, with high quality, modern cooking utensils. Roeshel obviously takes a lot of pride in this apartment, and it shows. I was very pleased with my experience there.”
  ~Robert
“Beautiful apartment next to a cute down town! Our first Airbnb fell threw last minute and Roeshel was on top of getting back to us and having us stay with such short notice! So many extra touches to ensure a great stay! Lists of local places to eat and a calendar of things to do! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Definitely recommend.”
  ~Brittany
“Roeshel’s place was simply spectacular!! Luxury surrounded us in every detail of her space. The kitchen was a dream…I enjoyed cooking up local vegetables. The beds were super comfortable with fabulous linens. And the decor was right out of a magazine! Roeshel’s special touches made this my favorite all-time AirBnB experience. We felt so at home and didn’t want to leave. If you’re lucky enough to get to stay here, I’m certain you’ll feel the same way.”
  ~Cathy
  Holiday stays:
“My husband and I stayed at Roeshel’s for a trip home over the holidays and absolutely loved it! Roeshel met us for a quick tour when we arrived. The whole place is filled with cute little touches and smells amazing (all essential oils). She even had it decorated for Christmas and it looked incredible! The bed was super comfy and there are throw blankets to keep warm under and a full kitchen should you need it. We would definitely stay again!”
  ~Shannon
“This place had everything you need and more. I mentioned to the host that I was visiting my 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter for the holidays and I found a basket of perfect toys that were placed to share with her in the space. The house is sparkling clean and the atmosphere so inviting. Everything you need to have a nice getaway! I highly recommend staying here!”
  ~Christine
  Wedding weekend:
“My husband and I booked Roeshel’s place for our wedding weekend. We used the space to get ready in and as a retreat after our long exciting wedding day. Her space is decorated beautifully with many amenities for her guests to use. One feature my make-up artist loved was the long table/desk with built in charging station – convenient!
Not only did she go above and beyond with her communication and little touches but she also surprised us, not once but twice! When we arrived the morning of our wedding she had laid out a little welcome platter of fruits and drinks with a congratulations sign hung on the fire place mantle. She also drew up a cute little note on the calendar on the refrigerator!
When we arrived back to the space late that night after having the most perfect wedding day, we were greeted with another surprise. The entry way and stairs leading up to the AirBnB had been decorated with rose petals and electric candles. This led to a decorated romantic set up outside the apartment door along with chocolates, drinks and chilled glasses. We cried. It was the most perfect ending to the beautiful day we had just shared. It meant the world to us.
Her thoughtful touches, ultra clean + super hip space and her timely communication make this easily the best place to stay in the Butler area. If you are in town or just want a little stay-cation I can’t encourage you enough to book Roeshel’s space!”

Head Noise / Uber - Fantastique
For the best part of 18 months Aberdare’s Electro Art-Punks Head Noise (Mitch Tennant Vocals & Keytar), Wayne Basset (Synths & Guitar) and Jordan Brill (Synths & Guitar) have been working away on their debut album Über-Fantastique, a record which they describe, in typical Head Noise fashion, as a ‘bombastic, electropop fever dream’. In a detailed, track-by-track guide, Mitch Tennant talked to Kevin McGrath about the record they are about to unleash on an unsuspecting Welsh public.
1. KINGDOM OF CROOKED MIRRORS
We had a lively debate at Head Noise HQ over which song to open the album with, either this track or the one that follows. We eventually decided on “Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors” to kick-start the debut as we think it encompasses all things Head Noise and has a great splattering of our influences in a catchy, oddball pop song. The title of the track comes from a 1963 Soviet fairy tale film and is loosely inspired by Lewis Carroll’s “Through the Looking Glass”. The song reflects our own mantra for creative passion and is also a look at an outsider’s perspective for abstract art and trying to make sense of the senseless. It’s like Alice In Wonderland without the drug references. Ignore the evils of the world and just let the childlike magic speak for itself.
2. 200,000 GALLONS OF OIL
I was on my lunch break one day surfing the web and a pop-up article came on-screen about fuel, oil refining and other industrial processes that I had very little interest in. However, the title of the piece "Pipeline Spills 200,000 Gallons of Oil" really jumped out at me. I wrote it down and put it aside with my collection of other alphabetical oddities that I type up on Notepad. A little while after, Wayne sent me an electropop demo with a bouncy, squelchy bass line which I felt matched up to this wording perfectly! The title of the song has some sort of political or eco-warrior ring to it but it's always a surprise to people who question what the song is about, and we say "Uhh... It's just about oil?" What kind of oil do you want it to be? I'll leave that up to you, but here are some suggestions: vegetable oil, or maybe oil to slick back your hair.
3. JAPANESE BATTERIES
One Christmas, my partner gifted me an Otamatone, which is basically a screwed-up Theremin/Stylophone synth-like device that is in the shape of a musical note, however it looks more like a giant sperm! It’s become a popular instrument on Youtube for fashioning unusual sounding covers of songs, such as Boney M’s “Rasputin” and A-ha’s “Take on Me”. I was totally amazed by the packaging - it had a little Japanese man with fluffy hair, the inventor of the instrument, looking off into the distance, not unlike some surreal propaganda poster art. The song is, basically, a homage to this strange instrument, and it’s played on the track, not long after the first chorus, just to show off the unusual noises that it makes.
4. ANATOMICALLY CORRECT SHUFFLE
This is a song where I feel the bassline really helps to give the song a danceable bounce, that’s why the title of the track has "Shuffle" at the end of it. This is the first of the collaborations that we have on the album. Wayne sent me a demo he was working on with some bass being played by his friend "Monkey" (who I still haven't met yet) under the working title "Monkey Jam". When we started putting the album together, we were coming out of that mad scientist stage persona from the Microwave EP run of shows, so I had a whole lot of science stuck in my mind. I thought we'd go gung-ho as a farewell to the bygone days of false nerdy scholarship with a classic Head Noise sound to it. The lyrics for the song are like an amalgamation of a botched surgery, unusual ailments and chronic nightmares. Luckily, we have Brill onboard to give it that fun little jaunty undertone on the synth, to help keep us sane and avoid any potential lobotomies.
5. MYSTERY LIQUID
This is another Notepad scribble title that I just had to make into a song! When you hear songs about drinking, it’s usually either a fun affair (a drunken pub singalong) or a dark, cautionary tale (alcoholism), so we were looking to meet in the middle between jolly and sombre. I was influenced by Spike Jones & His City Slickers and their song “Clink! Clink! Another Drink”, especially for its humorous look at binge drinking from a 1940s perspective. It seems so harmless and funny, but it’s much more morally twisted if you look at it from the outside. With a bassline from our good friend Connor Llewellyn of Math Rock band "Common Spit", the song turned into more of a fast-paced rocker with some added spoken word and Dada inspired lyrics from Cat Daczkowski who also plays in Rock band KASIA. I really liked her vocal style as it reminded me of Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth’s unique and unbothered singing approach, so we NEEDED it on the album somewhere.
6. AIRSTRIKE 4000
When I was young, I used to love my Sega Megadrive games console! I played games like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Desert Strike, but I got bored easily with Desert Strike because I wouldn’t always know what to do. I wanted to write lyrics that broke the fourth wall too, so the song starts out as a homage to a made-up Sega game in the style of Desert Strike. Then I get bored about halfway through and changed the theme of the song, just like when I was 8 years old and trying to play the bloody game before turning it off to play Sonic & Knuckles instead. It’s a Lo-fi retro Rock vs Synth song with some amazing guitar wobbles/shrieks from Brill and some wicked retro sounds darted across the duration of the track.
7. NITRO
When we were lucky enough to support “Public Service Broadcasting” last year at the Muni Arts Centre in Pontypridd, we wanted to go all out with a wacky elaborate stage show. We roped in our good friend Mark Strange to help us put together some surreal extras in the set such as a puppet show and a battle royale with Mark dressed up as a Ninja Turtle. We wanted to create our own little ‘introduction song’ for this show for when we walked onstage akin to Devo’s “Corporate Anthem” instrumental. So, Wayne put together our own track to help introduce the band as Mark walked out dressed in a lab-coat to inspect the equipment before we came on. There isn’t much else I can say about this track really other than performance is key! We decided to give the song a promotion from introduction song to intermission song which now sits about halfway through the album. In fact, that’s why it is called “Nitro”, it’s just an anagram of “intro” but with some dynamite flair!
8. SHRUNKEN HEAD
We used to open the live set with this song. It’s a song about idiocracy within the musical world, not too far off “Cherub Rock” by Smashing Pumpkins. The song is stacked with surreal imagery, which also includes a reworking of the “I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream” phrase from Science Fiction writer Harlan Ellison as a pre-chorus. I think it’s important to have passion in what you do creatively, and you shouldn’t allow others to mistake that devotion for egotism. I went to “Ripley’s Believe it Or Not” oddity museum in Blackpool a couple of times over the years and I got to see a real (or ‘real fake’, you be the judge?) shrunken head in a glass case. Rhys Jones plays some cool guitar lines on this track which is like a mix between Egyptian rhumba and the live dissection of a squirrel. It is an interesting song and we like it very much.
9. INTRUDER-ESQUE
Have you ever had those nights when you’ve gone to bed and looked over at the other side of the room in the dark to see the blurred black outline of a wardrobe or a hanging coat? In a sleep-addled state, this can be terrifying and can lead to “sleep paralysis”. I thought it was an interesting subject to pick up on. We gave the outro to Lloyd Markham of Psych-Electro band Deep Hum to use as his personal synth playground and we love it! I think the entire track captures the vibe of uneasiness that you can get in a sleep-deprived state when you don’t entirely feel safe, with an unknown threat lurking in the shadows.
10. I EAT CANNIBALS
An old friend of mine said the Toto Coelo song “I Eat Cannibals” sounds like something Head Noise would cover, so we just went off and covered it. I think it goes a little hand in hand with “Shrunken Head” and its voodoo vibe. The track features fantastic backing vocals by Miss Cat Southall, singer extraordinaire! I’m a fan of bands who re-work covers to suit their own sound. We always have an unusual cover in our back pocket if things start to go pear-shaped! We’ve previously recorded songs by Sonic Youth and The Bangles.
11. MR. EVERYWHERE
This is a Rocker Wayne had been working on for a little while until we decided to give it more context and “beef” so to speak. It’s basically a punk song that’s been shaved down to a shouty rock song, with a little bit of synth here and there. The song’s lyrics simply reflect how busy we felt after we released the Special Effects EP and how being in a band can be a lot of stress as much as a lot of fun.
12. NO PHOTO | NO FILM | NO TELEPHONE
On a trip to Venice, I stopped by St Mark's Basilica to see the famed “Horses of Saint Mark”. There was a sign near them saying “No Photo, No Film, No Telephone” which made me laugh. Anyway, the track was inspired by a warning sign, but is about the overuse of modern communication technology and the brief escape that we get from these devices. It’s crazy to see how much the world has changed in 20 years, so we summed it up quickly with a fully Electronic Pop song featuring a fun shout-a-long chorus.
13. COMPLY
Someone said to me recently “music has been intrinsically linked to politics since like forever!” and even though there is some truth in that statement, I refuse to believe that it is the most important reason for someone to enjoy listening to music. This is my own attack against people who like to moan and whine until they get what they want, whether it is logical or not. It’s our own protest song which protests protest songs. We’ve made sure the song is happy and upbeat, because ignorance is bliss, eh?
14. GAMMA GUTS
The spiritual successor to our single “Microwave”, in fact, it’s a loose sequel of sorts. I have a fear that there isn’t enough science behind the use of microwaves. I imagine that there are some harmful side effects, but it scares me to think that we might not have a clue. The song is split into two parts - the first is a goofy little Electro Rock song about the digestion of nuclear materials and then the second part is an electronic instrumental, orchestrated by the band Massa Circles. There are some beats donated by John Barnes and some shouts by Anthony Price too. The song reminds me of Eric Clapton’s “Layla” because it starts off as a fun Rocker and ends with an emotional instrumental akin to side 2 of David Bowie’s Low album. This is one of our favourite songs to play live at the moment because it gives us free rein to experiment musically.

Self-Care Interview Series: Adriana Ayales
Adriana Ayales is a rainforest herbalist from Costa Rica and the founder of herbal apothecary Anima Mundi. We are in love with Adriana’s world and creations, and so excited to share this interview.
Routine
— Is routine important to you or do you like things to be more open and free?
Although I love the grounded power of routine, I’m living in a phase of being open and free. With kids, and a beyond full time devotion to running a business, I just ride the waves as they come. I’ve learned to surrender that not everything has to look the way it should look. Life’s situations and patterning moves around like the seasons.
— What do your mornings look like? If they differ from day to day, describe your ideal morning.
I love getting up before the kids, and sneaking into the kitchen to make myself a healing cup(s) of medicine. First thing I do is a big ole’ cup of vitamin C rich goodness, sometimes its mangosteen hibiscus with a lemon squeeze, or fresh picked turmeric from the garden grated with ginger, along with camu camu and lemon water. Then I make a seasonal fruit bowl of sorts, with oatmeal, or homemade granola loaded with mineralizing herbs (like nettle or mesquite powder). Followed by my favorite, and not so healthy friend, Coffee. Ah coffee. I can’t tell you how wonderful locally grown heirloom coffee is here, paired with deliciously fresh cacao and medicinal mushrooms and homemade almond.
— Do you have any bedtime rituals that help you sleep well?
Massaging the face, forehead and skull with warm oil at night is one of the simplest and most restorative practices we can do to induce deep sleep. I love using a mix I make at home of jojoba oil, with rosehip, infused with clary sage and a fine sandalwood. Another one of my all time favorites for evening relaxation is blue lotus.
— Do you have any kind of mindfulness practice?
Sipping tea mindfully in nature, witnessing time in silence is one of my favorite things. I tap into my feelings, breath, mind, and begin to clear energy.
Sustenance
— Do you do caffeine and in what form? If not, what is your drink of choice in the morning?
I do love caffeine. Growing up in Costa Rica has woven me into loving a good cup of locally roasted coffee. Depending on the day, I love adding reishi, or a mix of medicinal mushrooms, raw cacao with mucuna, along with a homemade plant based milk. I also love having an aged puerh, or traditional matcha with added herbs for nourishment, like moringa.
— Do you have a sweet tooth and do you take any measures to keep it in check?
Sometimes I do, especially when I’m tired or running on low energy. When i’m over-worked, or running on stress I definitely crave more carby and sugary things, and this is usually due to skipping a meal, or needing a quick-fix. Some tips I bare in mind during stressful moments that ignite the sweet tooth (or just in general!) are: always go for fruits before you opt for a sugary dessert, always choose low glycemic sweeteners vs. sugar (some faves are coconut sugar, maple syrup, and real stevia extract — not the synthetic ones!) For carbs avoid empty carbs and refined flours, and opt for ones that are more easily absorbed, like coconut, almond and cassava flour.
— Are there any particular supplements, herbs, or tinctures/tonics that you take regularly and find to be helpful with your energy level and general wellness?
Oh my, so many! I seasonally change my herbal intake, but certainly stick with some favorites. I love having my potent “singles” (single herb tinctures) on me at all times, like shisandra berries and blue lotus. A Brain tonic while I’m working, usually with herbs like gotu kola, ginkgo, brahmi and lion’s mane mushroom. Two that I dose with very often are the Happiness tonic (st johns wort, mucuna, ashwagandha, etc.) and euphoric/mood elevating herbs like catuaba, mucunam muira puama and damiana. I also love our Liver formula for daily cleansing and nourishment, like the moringa, burdock, nettles, chlorella. And of course beauty herbs like He Shou Wu, Mangosteen and more!
Exercise
— Do you exercise and do you have a particular exercise routine that you repeat weekly?
Absolutely, I love doing a mix between yoga and pilates.
— Do you find exercise to be pleasurable, torturous or perhaps a little of both? How do you put yourself in the right mindset in order to keep up with it?
I love the torture! When I feel a little lazy and not like suffering in an intensive workout, I just remind myself how excellent I feel when I finish it. Not just seeing physical results, but especially the mental peace and happiness after working out.
Beauty
— What is your idea of beauty – external, internal or both?
A feeling of wholeness. When your mood is high, your gut is vibrant, and you feel confident and beautiful. When there is no sense of lack, imbalance or deficiency. When you feel aligned.
— What is your skincare approach – face and body?
I love making my own body and face oils. I usually infuse collagen boosting herbs, and skin strengthening herbs and lather up. I also like to keep things simple, like using cacao butter with coconut oil, or just a fluffy shea butter for deep moisture.
— Are there any foods, herbs or supplements you find to be helpful to your skin/hair/general glow?
Yes! I’m a big fan of eating herbs and supplements that protect the skin, increase our own collagen receptors and help activate our natural glow. The herbs I designed for the vegan collagen formula have been my go-to’s for quite sometime. Horsetail, He Shou Wu, Calendula, Nettle seed + leaf, Comfrey, and others like Mangosteen, Camu Camu and Hibiscus are great for the skin too.
— Do you have any beauty tips/tricks you’ve found to be especially useful throughout the years?
I love making edible masks. Infusing a high potency extract into a raw clay and avocado, along with an activating source like apple cider vinegar, or more protein like flax, and making a smooth paste to lather all over the face, body and even hair is one of my all time favorites.
Stress, etc.
— Do you practice any consistent routines in order to avoid stress?
Visualization is huge for me. Sitting in silence and tuning in is vital, along with the help of nervines and adaptogenic herbs that assist in de-compression like skullcap, blue lotus and ashwagandha.
— If stress cannot be avoided, what are your ways of dealing with it?
I like taking a walk or hike in nature, get in the ocean/lake/river or any kind of body of water. I completely unplug from work, the phone, or computer.
— What measures do you take when you sense a cold/general feeling of being under the weather coming on?
Before the cold kicks in, I take strong echinacea extracts in a soothing tea, mixing turmeric, lemon, grated ginger, apple cider vinegar, garlic and aloe in warm water. It works every time. I make a large batch and dose all day long —  even my kids love it!
— How do you reconcile work-time with free-time? Do those things overlap for you or do you keep them distinctly separate?
This certainly overlaps for me, which can honestly be a bitter sweet reality. I love everything surrounding plants, and its medicinal uses, as well as teaching, and medicine making. I love that my business is all about honoring ancestral ways, plant medicine, the art of herbalism, righteous cultivation, and medicine making. Yet, like any business owner would understand, there are many tasks to the job that are exhausting and certainly not what made you fall in love in the first place. For me personally, I’ve learned to reconcile by doing what I love doing the most, medicine making and wildcrafting. I made a commitment to myself in making space for this no matter what, and not disregarding it by prioritizing business with the things that don’t really matter in life. It’s vital that we take moments in our free time that refine our focus and intention in life, re-align to what inspired the dream, without getting side swept with “busy-ness”.
Motivation
— Describe the actions you take or mindset you try to tap into in order to stay on track with your self-care practice and being nice to yourself?
Over the last couple years I’ve struggled with this because of having babies. Which I’m sure a lot of new moms can relate to this! Every time I get a moment between being a mother, wife and business owner, my priority to feel more self loving (and more human!) is yoga. The simple act of getting oxygen, doing conscious breathing, and distracting the monkey mind from its patterning, you become yourself again.
— What do you consider to be the single most important change you’ve made to your routine or lifestyle in terms of wellness?
Herbs. Integrating plant medicine into everything has significantly changed my body mind and soul.
— A book/movie/class that influenced your view of self-nourishment or self-care.
Off the top of my head I love these: Healing with Whole Foods with Paul Pitchford, Gabriel Cousens’ Spiritual Nutrition, The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates, and of course The Medical Medium by Anthony William.
Knowledge
— What was your path to becoming an herbalist and starting Anima Mundi?
Growing up I learned closely with curanderos on plant medicine and rainforest herbalism overall. I then attended herbal schools in California where I learned a lot of native, northern and european herbalism. Life somehow took me to NYC (a place I NEVER thought I would ever go to) after living in California for quite some years, and I started practicing privately as an herbalist. I kept noticing the common trends, symptomology and imbalances folks that came in had, and started developing “mother formulas” to be able to make large batches.
— How do you approach sourcing herbs for Anima Mundi?
First and foremost we try to create a direct relationship with the people/farmers that cultivate. Although we value certification of prime ingredients, there are many ethical wild crafters and farms that do not have special certifications, yet cultivate sustainable practices and have quality products that we also like to support. We are also adamant of supporting local economies as much as possible, particularly with rainforest herbs sourced directly from indigenous people, supporting their craft as well as ethically crafted botanicals.
— What are some of Anima Mundi’s best sellers?
Our plant-based Collagen Booster, Happiness Tonic, Adaptogenic Immortality Tonics, Curam Beauty Elixir, our 100% Coconut Cream Powder, Mushroom Mocha Milk and more…!

Kelly Kurtz
Motion Designer http://www.kellykurtz.design/ Squamish, BC, Canada Age 38 She/Her
How did you get your start in motion design, animation, or whatever it is that you do?
I have a rather non-linear path to mograph, as many other people’s stories. I started off in a very different industry, but now (after 3 years) my love of the outdoors and motion design have (hopefully) come together.
I come from the adventure tourism industry of 12 years. I was an expedition guide in Canada’s North during the summers, an outdoor education instructor in the spring and fall working with grade 9 & 10’s, and during the winters I worked in Snow School at a local ski hill (Cypress Mountain) teaching ski lessons, supervising, and then in the last 5 years managing all the on snow operations for the department of 180 instructors.
I loved my time as a guide and have so many beautiful memories of guiding (canoeing, backpacking & rafting) as well as working in the ski industry for more than a decade. Guiding multi-day expeditions means you are away from home for months at a time, and your time in between trips is spent cleaning up and prepping for the next trip - which was exciting and worked for me in my 20’s but once I had done it for a decade I started to desire a shift. I had done a lot of photography during my guiding years and found myself up until 3am the night after trip editing photos because it was satisfying and challenging, I wondered if photography could be where my next path led.
I was always curious about design, especially graphic design. One day I met a woman who used to be a kayak guide for 6 years who went back to school to become a freelance graphic designer specializing in brand identity, had 2 young daughters whom she could spend more time with since leaving the guiding world and I saw a seed of possibility.
It took 3 years of thinking about making this shift, and jumping from one career to the next is not a decision to take lightly - but what ultimately pushed me over the edge was a 14 month head & neck injury that I sustained from a skiing accident in the winter of 2012/13.
As horrible and dark as head injuries are, there was a real silver lining in that experience as it became a catalyst for change for me. I applied to a few different art schools with some doodles that I did from when I had my concussion, (as well as some photography I took up during my guiding years), and to my surprise I was accepted into Vancouver Film School’s Digital Design program in the fall of 2015.
I initially was interested in web and app design, but in the first few weeks we worked on a small stop motion project and opened up After Effects and thought WOW - this stuff is amazing. Once we started learning Cinema 4D, and worked on a title sequence project my life really started to change, and that is how I quickly got hooked on Motion.
I really struggled to land a job after I graduated VFS, it took me 7 months to land a job and I felt forced to take it as it was the only job offer that I had, my funds were running out and I was in a depression. I stayed at that company for 10 months but it was very corporate and things didn’t move very fast. I felt like I wasn’t getting the growth I was desiring. I was constantly looking for something else.
I was approached by an advertising agency downtown about a motion design position they were opening up, so I jumped at the chance as I needed the change and was curious about the ad agency world. It was eye opening to work in an ad agency, but my gut told me I didn’t belong. 7 weeks into the job my producer blindsided me in a 1-on-1 meeting and told me she didn’t think I fit in here (first time I’d heard any feedback since being hired), and asked me to think about what I really wanted. Ouch. Unfortunately she was dead right, but it still felt soul crushing at the time. A few days later I handed in my resignation and decided to try freelancing instead of the endless search for the “right” full time job, and Vancouver can be pretty limited with motion design studios.
Freelance felt like a breath of fresh air, I could manage project the way that I wanted to, and mistakes were my own. I was freelance for most of 2018 and tho I had a steep learning curve, I enjoy many aspects of it. I also couldn’t help but think, I wish I had more experience and a larger network to lean on before hopping into freelance. I felt like I grew so much in terms of understanding business and the freelance game, but not as much growth as a designer. I craved to work with other motion designers and learn from them - a luxury that I had perhaps not realized I took for granted while going to school and learning from my very talented classmates.
Now my journey takes another shift as my dream company (Arc’teryx) has recently offered me a motion designer / video editor role that I start in a few weeks. The company is a high end technical outerwear company that I have adored for 20 years. It combines my love of the outdoors with design & video. So perhaps my personal and professional realms have just collided, I hope so as I’d like to be surrounded by like minded people who are passionate about similar things as I am.
How do you define success? What would success look like for you?
Success to me is being able to work with a synergetic team while creating compelling content that I am challenged and rewarded with while maintaining work life balance.
What are some best practices you use today?
Never. Stop. Learning.
Kick self doubt square in the balls. It will sneak up on you when you are least expecting it. EVERYONE goes through it, no one is immune.
Celebrate (and look for) your successes. No matter how small they are. This also helps with point #2
Take responsibility for your own journey. Sit down and write your goals out, give yourself targets to hit, and hold yourself accountable. So what if you can’t find a mentor, that shouldn’t stop you. Most mographers don’t have a mentor, only a lucky few.
How do you balance your work with your personal life? How do the two influence each other?
My work and personal life have always been very closely tied as my past can attest. I think part of the reason I really struggled in my first 2 full time positions as a motion designer was that my personal life was suffering. I was surrounded by people who didn’t go outside, who didn’t ski, who rarely exercised, who I just couldn’t connect with. And when you can’t connect with your team on a personal level, it’s hard to become a well oiled machine. For me, the two have to be very well aligned. Perhaps that is just my desire to have meaningful relationships, perhaps it is because the mountains have always been my first love, or perhaps I was never meant to separate the two.
When I take time to go out for a ski tour in the mountains, take a week off to disappear out of cell range to hang out with old friends in a cabin in the woods, I come back refreshed and feeling grateful for the time I just had. It is an opportunity to recharge and refocus.
How have you learned to practice self-care? What do you do to take care of yourself?
I used to be a workaholic when I was in the ski industry. I could never seem to catch up so I’d work long hours, not take care of myself, my stress levels were constantly running high. That’s when I made a mistake. One that resulted in my world coming to a grinding halt with a 14 month concussion, and it also left my team limping along for an entire season. Since then I’ve had no desire to be a full time workaholic. There is so much more to life. Family, personal, and time in the mountains.
So if I am not accelerating as fast as someone else, it’s because I’m playing the long game. While they are up at 1am watching tutorials I am sleeping because I want to be able to ski tour up 1000m to admire the view, and remind me of why I am alive. There is a culture within mograph that tells us we need to put in the time and practice to get better, and this is absolutely true. But the timeline that we all seem to hold ourselves to may not be the most realistic for staying healthy.
What advice do you have for those just starting out?
Be kind to yourself. Find out what motivates you and utilize that to manage your time and your priorities.
Take courses with School of Motion, Mograph Mentor, and Learn Squared.
Watch and do hella amounts of tutorials. If you are happy with the work you made with a tutorial, give the creator of the tutorial credit if you publish it online, but don’t claim that work as your own (I see this all the time, someone posts some work on Dribbble or Instagram and says they’ve been experimenting, but I know exactly what tutorial it was based on. If someone credits the tutorial maker, there is no harm done.)
Don’t use tutorials as your sole learning tool. Create personal projects, and don’t look at tutorials to carry you through it. Use experimentation while you have the luxury of time to work on that personal project. Your personal style will develop out of this, not out of tutorials. And consequently so will your confidence.
Listen to Podcasts (School of Motion, Mograph Mentor, Motion Hatch, Animalators, & The Futur).
Get out an network, physically and online. Both are important. Develop those relationships, they are everything in this industry
Go to 1 - 2 conferences per year, they are worth every penny. Get inspired, meet the people whose work you idolize, then use that to fuel your next sprint.
Create A LOT of work. Publish it.
Take care of yourself and stop judging yourself against others. You don’t know their journey, priorities, sacrifices or motivations.

Press Release:
Modern Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings by Justin Caguiat titled Permutation City 1999. This is his first solo exhibition with the gallery.
In Caguiat’s large-scale paintings on unstretched canvas or linen displayed in wooden frames, layers of oil and sometimes gouache, pastel and acrylic synthesise into highly detailed patterns which fill and spill out beyond imperfect edges. Now and then, swathes of monochrome washes emanate like filters or planes of light across the surface. From this, landscapes and otherworldly scenes materialise, drifting in and out of legibility, or consciousness.
These are liminal paintings, both corporeal and cryptic. They resist an instantaneous reading, demanding time to decipher, and to search for compositional footholds within their archaic atmosphere.
Caguiat’s idiosyncratic style is informed by varied fields including science fiction literature, the baroque-folk hybrid aesthetic of early Filipino Catholic Santos, 60s psychedelia, les Nabis, Ukiyo-E, urban graphic art and the historical legacy of Manga. In scale and format they can be read like murals and landscapes, and while not narrative, have a reverential or devotional purpose akin to a fresco.
Though suggestive of Romanticism, the paintings are not illusionistic, demonstrating and not concealing their evolution through layers. The transposition of paint – ideas, information, figures and ornament – is fragmented, like the dissolution of memory.
A text of the same title written by the artist accompanies the exhibition.
Justin Caguiat was born in 1989 in Tokyo, Japan. He lives and works in New York City. In 2018 he had a solo exhibition at 15 Orient, New York and his work has been included in group shows at galleries and project spaces throughout North America, in Italy and Switzerland. He has curated exhibitions with themanilainstitute.org and other collectives and is a published poet having participated in readings and performances including in 2017 at the Kunsthalle Zürich, Switzerland.
    Permutation City 1999
After the outbreak he escaped to the Bay Area with his family. They had left New York and ended up crashing at a former youth hostel in downtown Berkeley an art collector had bought. It was under renovation prior to the shut down and was in the process of being turned into
He traded the collector a painting titled My meat is to do the will of him in exchange for room and board. In one of the rooms, by the side of the bed hidden between the bed frame and the wall he found a journal filled with observations written in fragmented prose, punctuated by drawings. He was so struck by the book that it ended up forming the basis of his work for the next three years, using the drawings as sketches, overlapping composites to layer and erase with paint, building up the surface over time.
He compiled some excerpts from the found journal. Each entry in the book was titled, borrowing each title for each painting.
“Thousand Year Old Laughter” He was a young lad. Discovered a video store carrying a large collection of American and Euro films with religious themes. Other half of the store was SFX Horror. Lurking around the store… the instructions have unfolded a spell Entranced by images of suffering grotesque eroticism Fell into images forbidden the name is not what it appears
This way was truly nothing already it disappeared as smoking trails left by the things made seemingly in desires shape
solitary in fluid sunlight reflecting off store window eyes that unsubstantiated the hollow form revealed another presence. generating heat but not light and melting snow it turned into water, we lived for 16 years in Tokyo.
“Extraction and Compassion” When Grandmother came to visit us from Manila she couldn’t be around the Japanese people. Only once she recounted to my mother the horror of the Japanese occupation of the Philippines
During the massacre of innocents their favorite method of killing was the bayonet The hotels in downtown Manila were turned into rape camps they would take women and girls there after they were forced to bury their children, siblings, and neighbors in mass graves Hospitals were set afire after patients were strapped to their beds Pregnant women were raped and their stomachs were ripped open with bayonets Their unborn children drowning in sunlight streaming in from the broken walls and shattered windows “O you dig and I dig, and I dig towards you, on our finger the ring awakes”
In our apartment in Tokyo she made a room for herself in the closet. She was a devout Catholic, she could speak to spirits
She was the matriarch of my grandfathers second and illegitimate bastard family. Grandfather died when mother was one years old, he played piano for the silent films and was a photographer Mother was the youngest and 13th child. when grandfather died, suddenly they were were poor; he had left them nothing
They lived in a tiny garage and slept on the floor in rows they moved dwellings frequently my Mother often didn’t have enough food to eat. Her first job was cleaning public toilets
In Tokyo people always asked me if my mother was a maid the echo of the occupation evolved with the diaspora after the colonization and military campaigns of the Spanish, Japanese, and Americans The Filipina maids of Tokyo are kind and hard working people
When my grandmother died she left my mother her golden crucifix. My mother later gave the crucifix to me,
and after a year my father kicked my grandmother out and sent her back to Manila
They had a broken television in the room and the picture was in black and white. We would watch TV and my Grandmother was happy and said it reminded her of the past.
“Branches Flower Windows” walking down quiet streets of my Tokyo I love the moss covered cinder block walls and overgrown gardens of ferns, parks and Shinto temples and under the shade of trees everywhere, ponds and streams reflecting viridian glow, small waterfalls and stone pathways. Moss grows everywhere Sleepy stray cats and small fields of dirt and wild grass. The hollows of bushes littered with the skeletons of cicadas at the end of summertime and in every apple lays a fetus curled asleep There is no land more beautiful fields of rice paddies from the train window on the outskirts of the city the wind shakes and branches flower windows personalities whistle out of these sectors of apples that are made to be regenerated
Ever-present crows calling from the trees, pockets of nature surrounded by hyper-evolved architecture and a totalized homogeneity. Animism and fascism are alive and vital here, but now the Japanese are pacifists.
“The Approach of Beauty its Body was Fungible” Starting when I was 13 years old I used to sneak out of my house at night. My older sister was secretly taking LSD everyday and going to school, an exercise in appearing to be normal while her mind pushed against the boundaries of reason I would leave at around 1 in the morning after everyone was asleep. Wandering around, sometimes walking as far as Shibuya or Harajuku or to an unfamiliar neighborhood I would break into apartment buildings and go to the rooftops and sleep there. I sleep in parking lots and in nooks in between buildings, hidden places underneath stairwells and behind ventilators and generators whole lifetimes of how we love the escape Forgotten atoms cradled in sweet music and the laughter of our memory of the buildings dropping seeds
Radiant spheres contain their hidden appearance to take the form of different species in the future Growing variegated subjects decay into a lonely view that the preachers of passion have seen through their vector making melody
meted out in pleasure the lyrics recorder quickly to their passing pain
“Anal Staircase of the Eye Reflected in the Fingernail” They began to sleep walk and hallucinate. Floating above their body: walking around the apartment at night, talking uncontrollably
Its psychotic dream state remember waking up on the floor of the bedroom, The walls and ceiling slowly began to shrink, Shrinking to the point of a needle, the point was a pupil, They were trapped inside the pupil, the pupil was the coffin.
Splash water on their face to wake them up, the knock on the head sent us reeling, I’m relieved to find him sleeping. Its safe to be here while I was dreaming I kept forgetting I am living as todays reflection.
I was watching everything, I was watching my body moving dislocated from its host, I was moving from room to room like a fly on the wall, I was walking and talking like a living doll.
“The Saint is Never Busy” I cry because hes dying, now hes dust an older shade of green across my eyes turns to red dust of the heart. now how to keep out of hell are the wheels that are turning, he used to be so violent but now so enfeebled yet His eye still holds violence, his other eye is blind and He has to wear a diaper
The wheels of the sun its done but dont forget about its shadowy child, For its picture you hate to keep even though it always lives developed the horror of an idea that wears you unrendered, Its been 14 years its paralyzed brilliant doors are locked forever, out of waves of memories life times locked.
He looks old He walks so slowly, he shuffles from room to room compulsively the dementia atrophied brain
He doesn’t remember anything about me. He knows I am his son but nothing else, no memories I am a shadow in the periphery of his mind. My mother hid the kitchen knives just in case
He thinks its the year 1999, a maddening coincidence to the primal year of my reveries.
I came to London and went to see him, who had returned to where he grew up in Wales
Mother sleeps with the house keys under her pillow and a change of clothes and money in case he becomes violent and she needs to escape He threatens her when he doesnt recognize her and she has to hide Crushed by her burden I see it in her face
Of course it wasnt supposed to end like this He refers to himself in the plural. pointing to his head Trapped in the year 1999, wandering amongst the reveries of whose youth?
“The Synthetic Memory Forming” –
We are in California now. Its peaceful here. New York seems so far away. Here in the Bay Area there are lots of crows, whom I love. They remind me of Tokyo. Our son dances in the sun and in the water an ant to the outsider sea.
We have cut a silly figure against the walls crumbling cake with all our bags A cigarette in my mouth my hat is lost against the orbing sun
the light is confusion. This is my last song you yell across laughing after the pale band where you removed your golden ring. The sun is chasing your tanned skin your fingers fan across the buildings in the sand optical trails waving against their warped angles
“Ive got nothing but reason left behind” Events are tiny earthquakes constantly reorienting the same set of histories but for now every one here is perfect standing dreamlike and frozen under the blue sun
A huge mob of crows, in the early hours of the morning on the way back home, that sent me weighing sleep against a walk around the block I turned away and fled as they knocked over the trash cans, The contents strewn like intestines on the street, nourished by the abundance, crying in unison
When the wandering fire Strikes the heart of stone Will you follow? Will you leave your home? Will you leave your life? Will you take the Longest Road?

You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
You both like random.
Stranger: hi?
You: hi
You: you gonna say anything?
You: what?
Stranger: what did i just say?
Stranger: i dunno
You: ok
Stranger: where you from?
You: uk
You: you?
Stranger: Philippines
You: nice
Stranger: how old are you?
You: im 21
Stranger: same as me
You: how old are you?
You: oh cool
Stranger: yeah
You: but i can't actually see you
You: so you could be very old
You: hi
Stranger: im not that old
Stranger: hi
You: you seem sweet
Stranger: why thank you
Stranger: i could say the same to you
You: thanks
You: do you study?
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: nearly done in college in a few months
You: wow
Stranger: how about you?
You: i'm only in my first year
You: i study fine art
Stranger: i'm in my last semester
Stranger: wow
Stranger: i study information technology
You: that sounds both boring and interesting
You: at the same time
Stranger: yeah,it's boring and interesting at the same time
Stranger: though teachers would be the one who's boring
You: yeah
You: teaching IT sounds like hell
Stranger: it doesn't sound like hell, it is hell itself
You: my apologies
Stranger: some teachers don't really know how to teach properly
You: *most
Stranger: so we have to study it ourselves
You: yeah
You: it's like that in art
You: anything you want to know you have to teach ypurself
Stranger: yeah, right to the point
You: what time is it there
Stranger: it's 8:14 p,
Stranger: pm
You: time for bed
Stranger: and there? nahh..
Stranger: my bedtime is 12:00 am
You: it's 12:25
You: it's good to have a bed time
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: even though the bed time is very late
You: do you dream much?
Stranger: sometimes
Stranger: but most of the time i don't want to dream
Stranger: it's freaks me out
You: what kind of nightmares to you have
You: if they stop you from wanting to dream?
Stranger: i always get sleep paralysis
You: oooh man i've had that it's so trippy
Stranger: i have a hard time breathing when i have that
Stranger: some dreams that you don't want to remember
Stranger: i forgot most of them though
You: thats something at least
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: some of it felt too real
You: i once had a dream that my dad turned into a giant spider and tried to rape me
Stranger: well that's something
Stranger: i had a dream once a mascot kicked my mother in the face, and when i woke up i was leterally crying,i don't know why
You: what
You: ?
Stranger: that was true
Stranger: a mascot kicked my mother in the face, and when i woke up,i was crying about it
You: poor you
Stranger: that was not a very nice dream, i must admit
You: my dreams are always so psychological
Stranger: i really had a hard time sleeping after that
Stranger: how?
You: always invole violence/sex and family members
Stranger: i also do get astral projections...
You: wow i want to hear all about them
Stranger: like i was seeing myself sleeping or i was floating and seeing some people having conversations
You: that's a gift
Stranger: after watching insidious,i got scared
You: you get scared a lot
Stranger: nope
Stranger: just sometimes
You: ok
Stranger: i had this dream once, someone or something was chasing us,we were really scared, i do't even know who I was with
Stranger: don't
You: those are fairly common
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: but it was really scary though
You: yeah the weird creatures my mind thinks up are so much scarier than any horror film
Stranger: yeah, i can definitely relate to that
Stranger: so,what do you like about fine arts?
You: just the freedom to do whatever i want
You: because everything is art
Stranger: do you paint?
You: i used to
Stranger: used to?
You: but these days i do sound and video based pieces
Stranger: that's popular nowadays
You: yeah
You: it's the future
Stranger: what kind do you paint?
You: i used to do landscapes in oils
Stranger: that's nice
Stranger: do you do abstract?
You: not really
You: but i'd like to
Stranger: I'm really amazed to those who paint tabstract
Stranger: abstract
Stranger: really creative
You: some people do it so well, but with others it just looks shit
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: it looks like they just put together some paints for the sake of having a painting
You: nothing worng with that though
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: some people appreciate their work
You: the only thing that bothers me is if a piece isn't interesting
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: i like paintings with dark setting
You: ooo edgy
You: sorry
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: that's fine
You: hold on
Stranger: alright
You: i'll show you some of my work
Stranger: wow
Stranger: really?I would love to
You: you won't like it though
You: probably
Stranger: we'll have to see
Stranger: first
You: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar4VRG9UidQ
Stranger: that was nice
You: you like?
Stranger: i like things like that
Stranger: yeaahh
Stranger: veru
Stranger: very
You: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=7lPe3lyn56I
You: check out this one
Stranger: that was funny
Stranger: i've seen a lot worse in the dark web
You: you go on the dark web?
Stranger: sometimes
Stranger: but i stopped
You: casue it was tto weird?
Stranger: nah
Stranger: it was too immersing
Stranger: once you go there, you will just get more curious
Stranger: and it was too risky
You: how do you get onto it?
Stranger: you download certain apps
Stranger: and you have to use vpn, not you isp
Stranger: to hide you ip address
You: ok....
You: interesting
Stranger: does fine arts involves poems?or not?
You: yeah
You: fine art is about poetry sometimes
Stranger: actually, what i really wanted to get was english literature
Stranger: but there were no such course here,it was just a subject
You: awww man
You: that sucks
Stranger: i do have a lot of written poems
Stranger: yeah..
Stranger: it sucks
You: you should try to publish them
Stranger: i tried letting others see it, but they just stole the poem from me and told others that they are the ones who made them
You: wow
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: i was really pissed
You: was that an official publishing company or people online?
Stranger: and my poems are too scary for others to see or read
Stranger: personally
Stranger: it was my classmate in high school who did it
You: ah
Stranger: i write poems in my notebook
You: i don't think a publisher would do that
Stranger: i let them read it,what I didn't know was they started to copy it without my permission
You: oh well i guess maybe they'll get found in your notebook and get famous after you die
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: people get known and remembered when they die
You: i'm crossing my fingers on that one
You: cause i don't think i'd enjoy being famous while alive
Stranger: it's too much work when you get famous while you're alive,i agree with that
Stranger: and fame changes people
You: if i ever get famous i wanna be like a d-lister or something
You: just enough to stroke my ego everynow and then, not so much it's a hasstle
Stranger: yeah,i get that
Stranger: just for once in while but not everyday
You: yeah
Stranger: but sometimes, you just can't get enough of dreaming that you're famous
You: daydreaming is like an actual hobby for me at this pint
You: point
Stranger: it is for me too
Stranger: when i don't do anything, i day dream
You: ok can i ask you something?
Stranger: yeah,sure
You: i want to know your opinion
You: cause i've been daydreaming a bit about dragons lately
Stranger: game of thrones?
Stranger: hahahah
You: no
You: not like that
Stranger: okay
You: hear me out
You: i mean
Stranger: okay
Stranger: sorry for interupting
You: what if it was like the typical princess in a tower with a dragon story
You: but you end up with the dragon
Stranger: oohhh
Stranger: does the dragon become a prince?
Stranger: or not?
You: nah, the dragon kicks the princes ass
Stranger: it would be too cliched it the dragon was aprince
You: and the dragon has a sexy human form
Stranger: you're toying with me,aren't you?
You: no
Stranger: seriously?
You: i really daydream about this sometimes
Stranger: the dragon kicks the princess' ass?
Stranger: what the?
You: no
You: no
Stranger: oohhh
You: the dragon kicks the prince's ass
Stranger: sorry
You: not the pirncess
Stranger: i misunderstood
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: actually ,that be more realistic
Stranger: how come a human can defeat a dragon with just a petty sword, right?
You: exactly
Stranger: that would be nice
You: and then you end up living happily ever after with your dragon boyfriend/girlfriend
Stranger: but the question is,how does the dragon end up with the princess?
You: the dragon kindnaps the princess usually
You: but maybe that's creey here?
Stranger: was the dragon instructed to kidnap the princess or no?
You: maybe the dragon just did it cause he wanted to?
You: that's bad i know
Stranger: because the dragon loves her or just wants to eat her?
You: the dragon likes her
You: wnats to protect her from the evil prince
Stranger: then they should have a back story
Stranger: a back story that the dragon and princess met before
You: childhood friends?
Stranger: how about the dragon was the last of their kind?
Stranger: and then it was hidden in a secret dungeon
You: :O
You: poor baby drgon :(
Stranger: the princess accidentally finds that dungeon and then, voila, childhood friends
You: yep
You: when he escapes he takes her with him
Stranger: that would make sense rather than the dragon just roaming around
Stranger: yeahh
Stranger: he took her with him because the prince just wanted the throne and not her
You: the prince was like joffrey?
Stranger: and the prince has a plan to kill her eventually
Stranger: joffrey was a sadist
Stranger: let's try, the prince was nice when there are others but is joffrey when no one is around
You: yeah
You: yeah that's good i like it
Stranger: like a hypocrite prince
You: she also knew the pince growing up
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: and is scared of him but the princess' parents doesn't know about him
You: mmmm
You: now how does the dragon confess to her?
Stranger: that would be tricky
Stranger: when the dragon doesn't even speak human
You: well i guess he'll have to use... other ways
Stranger: what specificaly?
Stranger: would you enlighten me?
You: ...with his body
Stranger: would it be compatible?
You: yeah i mean
You: he has a more human form that he is sometimes
You: but when he's in human form he still has a tail and yellow eyes
Stranger: he'd look like a devil
Stranger: in an anime
You: maybe im into that
Stranger: yeahh
Stranger: i know what you mean
Stranger: or the princess becomes a dragon too
You: how would that work?
Stranger: the prince' mother was a witch, and then they cursed her
You: like he bites her and she becomes part dargon too?
You: ohhhh
You: ok
Stranger: it would be too cliched if the dragon becomes human
You: but i feel like if she becomes a dragon then we are just writing shrek right now
Stranger: i like the donkey dragons there
You: maybe they just get it on despite their differences?
Stranger: i can't imagine that
Stranger: no one can,ever
You: but when i say dragon i mean like maybe smaug
You: not the one from shrek
Stranger: i was thinking about the dragons from game of thrones
You: whatever floats your boat man
Stranger: was the dragon a pterodactyl?that would be awkward
You: woah.. dinosaurs in the story now??
Stranger: does it look like that?
Stranger: yeah,for a change
You: a dinosaur gangbang?
Stranger: what kind of princess are we talking about?
Stranger: that's no princess
You: she is hw she is
Stranger: what kind of parents does she have to be like that? XD
You: carzy scientist ones
You: that bring back dinosaurs from the dead
Stranger: this story is getting a different path
You: yeah this is like a jurassic park porno now
You: i bet one exists
Stranger: like chris pratt getting gangbanged?
You: you know he wants it
Stranger: the title would be "Raptors gangbanged Chrsi Pratt, and he likes it"
You: "blonde hunk get taken by a brontasaurus"
Stranger: that would get a million views in a second
You: so... why aren't we making this then
Stranger: let's do this!
You: we could be millionaires
Stranger: i agree
Stranger: we could be richer than bill gates because of this
You: ok so which one of us is gonna do the "bringing dinos back to life part"?
You: and which of us should be the film director
Stranger: you should be the film director
You: yeah makes sense
Stranger: i'll do the other one
You: you study a kind of sciene and i study art
Stranger: we make a good combination
You: but in all seriousness i do wanna make out with a dragon
You: no shame
Stranger: really?
You: yeah
You: in human form though
Stranger: i wanna make out with a devil XD
Stranger: either will do
You: watch what he does with those horns
Stranger: i could latch myself onto them without worries
You: see... we're all secretly into this stuff really
Stranger: yeah
You: most just don't admit it
Stranger: couldn't have said it any better
You: i think maybe i just like the idea of being with a supernatural being
Stranger: like bella and edward?
You: no
You: i have way more personality than her
Stranger: true
Stranger: no doubt about that
You: and i wouldn't wanna be with a guys that was so boring and old fashioned
Stranger: yeahh
You: i like openminded peoplpe
Stranger: not vampires
Stranger: they're boring
You: they're all depressing and shit
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: they all have that deepest and darkest secret shit going all around them
You: yeah f that
Stranger: a shapeshifter would be good to have
You: oooo YES
Stranger: yeahhhh
You: i didn't even think of that
Stranger: i just thought of it
Stranger: he can be whatever youo want even a dragon or a devil
You: think of all the possibilities
You: unlinited dicks
Stranger: dicks everywhere
You: just a giant ball of dicks
Stranger: that would be pretty plesaurable
Stranger: pleasurable
Stranger has disconnected.
You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
You both like random.
Stranger: DRAGON
You: yo
Stranger: YO
You: its you
You: the girl who likes devils!
Stranger: yeahhh
Stranger: and we are the girls who love shapeshifters
You: how do you feel about werewolves?
You: the invisible man?
Stranger: invisible man?
Stranger: that would be exciting
Stranger: you wouldn't know where he is or what's he gonna do
You: exactly....
You: you'd just go to sit down on a chair
You: and it's be his lap
Stranger: and he'll do the rest for ya
You: it works cause it's simpple
Stranger: definitely
Stranger: how's it going for the dragon/dinosaur gangbang?
You: well... can't find any actors who could take a giant dragon dick
You: so not well
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: that'd be too hard to cast
You: but the cinematographer ir great
Stranger: yeah, the plot is very easy
Stranger: just a princess getting gangbanged
You: so pterodactyl is like on her? and there a brachoisaurus watching
Stranger: and the dragon?
Stranger: so it's a foursome?
You: i feel like to dragon is almost too sweet to be involved
Stranger: yeah
You: i feel like the dragon really loves her
Stranger: he genuinely loves the princess to do that
Stranger: so dinosaurs kidnapped the princess from the dragon and then gangbanged her
You: yeah
Stranger: we really do make a good team
You: and after they have their way with her the dragon comes to rescue
Stranger: but it was too late because she was ravished thoroughly XD
You: you get me
Stranger: ravished being the word XD
You: what if she gets pregnant and has dino babies
Stranger: half dino half human
Stranger: that'd be new
You: i imagine dragon wouldn't be very happy
Stranger: he'd go berserk
You: he's posessive over her
You: tries to make her get an abortion
Stranger: what if the dragon was too late in rescuing her and other form found her, the centaurs
Stranger: we should involve everyone in this
You: omg she just get pounded by all the creatures in the land
Stranger: that'd be unfair for them if we didn't
Stranger: she literally became a sex slave in an instant
Stranger: she should've stayed with the prince
You: and killed him in his sleep
You: and then been queen
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: that'd be an easy way
Stranger: what a foolish princess we have
You: luckily we are not so foolish
Stranger: getting attracted with the size of that dragon XD
Stranger: luckily
You: well who can resist ;)
Stranger: yeahhh
Stranger: true
You: ah... if you could choose anyone to look like the dragon (in human form) who would it be?
Stranger: a man with a hard facial features definitely
You: don't fully know what that means
You: pick a famous person
Stranger: let me think for a while
You: ok
You: ok
Stranger: this is a serious matter
You: this is an important decision
You: think it through
Stranger: we can't make a mistake
You: you know wonho?
You: maybe him
Stranger: him?
You: yeah
Stranger: nahh
Stranger: chanyeol would be too cute
You: is he one of the ones from exo? i don't know them too well
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: the cute one who has big ears
You: ooo i see isee
Stranger: g dragon would fit in a way
Stranger: oooh oohh
You: yeah
Stranger: TOP would be best
You: BUT G dragon is too obvious
Stranger: yeaahh
You: top works!]
You: yes
Stranger: Yeah,TOP with that voice, ooohhh lovely
Stranger: who wouldn't fall for that
You: we've cast the dragon!
Stranger: finally!
Stranger: our hard work is paying off
You: do you think he'll do it?
You: i'll contact his agent
Stranger: yeah,of course,for a hefty price
Stranger: contact YG Entertainment right now!
You: "hey YG, do you think TOP would like to star as a dragon in our porno?"
Stranger: "Yep,definitely!"
Stranger: "He could do it for free"
You: he'd have to leave the millitary to do it though
Stranger: And there we have it,ladies and gentlemen.TOP is our dragon!
You: perfect
You: this is a piece of art
Stranger: who would be our princess
Stranger: ?
Stranger: she should look dumb and vulnerable
You: idk but i kinda want jungkook to be the princess
You: lol
Stranger: jungkook?
Stranger: that's would be just a cross dresser not a princess
You: a princess could be a boy?
Stranger: and it's a TRAP!
You: ok ok
You: i don't know many girl groups
Stranger: I only approve of 2ne1
You: which one?
Stranger: Bom
Stranger: she looks too innocent and she's perfect for the role
You: yeah i can imagine her getting pounded by dinos
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: without her resisting the gang bang
You: who's the evil prince?
Stranger: seung ri
Stranger: he look pretty evil to me
You: yeah
You: i get american psycho vibes from him
Stranger: have you watched that movie?
You: yes
Stranger: american psycho?
Stranger: hahahahahaha
Stranger: that was too funny
You: cause seungri is actually a ceo of some company now
You: a restaurant chain
Stranger: wow
You: and seeing him getting ready for work on a tvshow was like watching american psycho i swear
Stranger: didn't know about that
Stranger: and he's always with a suit and tie on
You: it's cause he can't put an outfit together to save his life
Stranger: definitely true
Stranger: so we've cast the dragon, princess and evil prince
Stranger: this is the crucial part
Stranger: casting the infamous dinosaurs
You: i almost wanted to cast jyp at the evil prince though
You: oh yeah the dinosaurs
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: the pterodactyl first
You: maybe he's the prince's dad
Stranger: i would like to vote dae sung for that
You: it juu#st hit me how weird this is
Stranger: his face fits the pterdactyl part
Stranger: hahahahahahaha
Stranger: well it's fun being weird sometimes XD
You: would g dragon be one of the centaurs
Stranger: tae yang would be the centaur because of his abs
Stranger: and g dragon would be the harpy XD
You: harpy?
Stranger: half human half bird
You: i just google them
You: wow
Stranger: hahahaha
You: poor guy
Stranger: he's demoted to being a harpy XD
You: shownu feels like a dinosaur to me
You: he's one of the big dumb ones
You: that eats grass
Stranger: the one with the long neck?
You: yes!!!
Stranger: hahahah
Stranger: he really was made to be that dinosaur
You: you know lil mark from nct? he's one of those tiny lil dinosaurs that raom about
You: probably not involved in the action just wandering around neareby
Stranger: yeahhh
Stranger: he looks weird XD
Stranger: he would fit into the dinosaur task
Stranger: isn't he a bit young for this?XD
You: yeah that's why he's not really involved
You: just an extra
You: in the forrest in the background
Stranger: a passerby perhaps?
You: yeah
Stranger: a passerby while a princess is getting gangbanged? XD
Stranger: he would die in shock
You: he probably goes and tells dragon what's been happening
Stranger: yeah
Stranger: he'd be the little messenger
Stranger: we should give him wings, like icarus
You: awwww
Stranger: and now greek mythology is getting involve
You: who be Zeus tho??
You: cause he fucked with everybody
Stranger: yeah
You: he's like an oldschool artist
Stranger: it should be a flirty one
You: one of shinhwa?
Stranger: would johnny depp do?
Stranger: the man looks flirty to me
You: man i hate johnny depp
Stranger: and he's like he's always drunk
You: have you seen recent pics of him?
You: they're crazy?
Stranger: everybody hates zeus
Stranger: hahahahah
Stranger: he looks like a drug addict XD
Stranger: very different when he was young

Not sure..
Not sure if this post will make me seem some type of way because it’s about me, me and me. But, lately, I’ve been having an identity crisis. Lols, oh how awful that sounds. I’m 19, turning 20 in a few months. I don’t know who I am. I live with myself everyday and I just don’t know who I am..I’m writing this post about all the things about me, my likes, dislikes…facts…opinions, whatever, so that I can look at it and be reminded of myself. Be reminded that I am living, I am breathing. I am here on Earth, not to take up space but to have purpose. So, here goes nothing.
-I used to be afraid of cats but ever since I got a kitten, I’ve been brave. This kitten has taught me to be patient and selfless. It’s taught me how tough it is to care for another life, with enough problems in my life it’s so easy to forget about my kitten but it’s the love I’ve developed that pushes me to look after it before I look after myself. And I don’t mind. It takes me out my comfort zone, I love it. Thank You Nino 😽
-I love all things floral. It literally itches my heart when I see something floral and can’t have it. Mainly because I’m nuts and I’m trying not to spend so much $$ on things I can live without. But somehow, because of how bad of an impulse buyer I am, I will eventually get it. Whatever it may be. In example, I can’t tell you the amount of planners I have. One floral design after another, tugs at my heart and I must have it. Such a waste.
-I don’t like tea, but since I’ve tasted Peppermint tea recently, and by recent I mean, the start of 2017, I can’t live without it. Now it sounds like I have it often, in actuality I haven’t had any for months but if someone asked me if I could live without having it forever I would have to say no. I don’t have it often but the taste is good enough that I can’t kick it out of my life completely, you know?
-I am obsessed with pens. Any fine tip kind. I also love colored pens. Once I got introduced into using colored pens for notes rather than using highlighters, I never once went back. I like the pretty notes I take, and the colors that stare back at me when I flip through my notes. It’s bad that sometimes I care more about the appearance of my notes than what I’m actually jotting down. 👿
-college has been hard on me. I did so well and had such motivation in the beginning but ever since then I’ve been feeling myself letting go of everything that needs to get done. I don’t have faith in myself. I’ve managed to do well enough to keep myself going but I used to be a kid who cared loads about my grades. Now I can’t be bothered and if a C ends up being my grade I don’t seem to care. Well, in all honesty, it’ll bother me when I do get a C but only for a little bit. I’ll promise myself I’ll do better next time around and all the anger/disappointment I felt for myself getting the C dissolves and I move on. I just don’t think I’m serious enough with it. And the sad thing is I was always serious. I just don’t know how to get back into it.
- sometimes it makes me sad that I don’t have talent/passion. I see people my age and younger doing things they have a passion for. Some make crafts, some sow, some make art. Some bake. Some sing, dance, go to the gym all the time, take up photography. I don’t know what I like. I’m not artsy, I’m not clever or that bright. I like photography a little but only when I’m in the mood. I wish I had something I could do.
-I like guys with beards. Well kept beards just make me drool. And plaid shirts. Guys look good in plaid.
-I like the smell of coconut. I swear by coconut oil. Use it as a moisturizer every time and it does the trick. I also love coconut ice cream. It’s good stuff.
-I love chocolate. I can’t stand vanilla unless it has some chocolate in it.
-I don’t think I’m responsible. I see so many people my age with a sense of responsibility and I am such a derp I don’t think I’m doing enough with my life.
-I don’t like long nails. My nails are always short. But the only time I do like them is if I get the fake ones that you can take off after a day. The ones at the drug stores. I get annoyed with stuff easily so it makes it easier that I can wear em’ and take em’ off if I need to.
-I love all sorts of vegetables. They’re really good, asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower especially. I’m not a big fruit addict. I only like a select few, like mangoes, coconuts, bananas, pomegranates and cherries.
-I am a lemon water addict. It used to taste very bitter to me in the beginning but now it’s so normal and refreshing.
-I like going to places that are so much bigger than me. Places that make me feel small but grateful that God put me where I am in life because it’s where I am supposed to be.
-speaking of God, I miss myself. I used to be really in touch with my faith and lately I keep going in and out, never firm with my actions. But I love Allah, and am so happy to be a Muslim. I just hope Allah guides me to the right path so I can spend my time learning more about my faith and more about how I can better myself Ameen.
-I want a grand wedding. I’ve always dreamed about a wedding that is so huge in visuals. I feel like as a person I’m rather very much plain, and since weddings are so special I want something tip top, fun and beautiful for my special day. InshAllah.
-I don’t feel very attached to kids. This sometimes troubles me, sometimes doesn’t. I think people think women just have a natural tendency, a natural vibe for kids and their well being. I don’t. ( I mean for their wellbeing, yes) I love kids don’t get me wrong but as soon as an infant starts crying I just don’t know how to handle it and feel so relieved it’s not my kid. Sometimes when a neighbor leaves their toddler with me or their child I don’t know what to do to keep the child entertained. I know people who love being around kids but I sometimes find it annoying. Because they are needy and I don’t mind giving but I never feel ready or good enough to be around kids. I don’t know. I just like to admire from afar.
-I love to cook. But only when I have help. It’s tough sometimes wanting to whip up a whole 5 course meal for your family and doing it all by my lonesome. I feel more motivated, more energetic if I have someone to help me cut veggies or wash dishes before I use em’. It makes life easier. That’s why I pray I find a husband that’ll help in and around the kitchen. I don’t ever want a husband who thinks out loud or silently that a kitchen is where the women and only the women belong.
-often times I feel like a crappy older sister. I’ve witnessed my cousins, friends, neighbors being such dolls to their younger siblings. Taking them out, helping them with their studies, teaching them different things, helping them become well rounded individuals but I just focus on myself and I always blame the age limit and think that just because I’m quite older than my siblings that I can’t relate to them but I’m just full of excuses all the time so. Maybe I can work on that in the future, God willing of course.
- I want to make money in life, lots of it only for my parents. Of course I would like to have the “finer things in life” but money sometimes is so wack. It makes people greedy, it destroys, it gets in the way. I’m just saying if it were up to me and me only I would just want to make enough to make myself happy, but I work hard in school/in life so I can make bigger bucks for my parents. I think they deserve to see their suffering and sacrifice is not in vain. So I do it for them, and I think all children of immigrants should. Should try to at least do something to make their parents happy. Whatever it may be. They’ve suffered/sacrificed so much, beyond our understanding.
- I don’t have a favorite artist. Music wise. I like what I like and that’s all I really know. Anything on the radio that’s catchy enough is what I like. I’m not too obsessed with anything and eventually always get tired.
-I cannot live without tacos or wings or fries. These three things are so close to my heart. I love fries, well seasoned fries, my gosh. I love wings, so good huh ? And tacos ? I love tacos. It’s weird I sometimes like the toppings to a taco more than the actual taco but with all of it being said and done, it’d be a sad life if I couldn’t have these things.
-my favorite colors and blue and pink. All shades but my favorite shade of pink is a coral kind, the kind you find when you open a ruby pink grapefruit. It’s so beautiful. As for blue? I like anything that’s royal or navy, even with a hint of teal is beautiful to me.
-I like curly hair, but that’s maybe because we like everything we don’t have and so I’ve straight hair and it just seems so boring.
-I am afraid of heights. I cannot do rollercoasters because of this. Sometimes even Ferris wheels but they’re so slow I can handle it. I am afraid of heights. I just can’t say it enough. 😷😕
-speaking of rollercoasters, I love amusement parks. I like the thrill, the fun, the food, the vibes. I could go all the time if I had the time.
- I love crime dramas/legal dramas. It’s all I ever watch. Medical dramas seem too boring. The only exception being House. Other than that I love Criminal Minds, HTGAWM, The Blacklist, Lie to Me, Quantico, Lost etc…
-I am afraid of the dark. It’s silly but I have to have some light creeping into my room or I cannot and will not sleep.
Well, I’ve got so much more I can write but for now I am tired. Writing all this has made me smile a little. I’m venting. To myself, to Tumblr. And it’s helped a little haha. Who needs a shrink. Anyway, until next time y'all. Love and ✌️.
