Broken Dashed Ladybug Chapter 1
Being Ladybug was hard work, especially while still dealing the loss of Tucker and putting up with Dash at school. He was glad he had his trusted partner to fall back on in all of this.

hehehehe
Sam always knew she wanted to help people.
They were always asked what they wanted to be when they grew up as kids. Most kids wanted to be a vet or a firefighter. Some wanted to be popstars or actors like the ones they saw on tv.
As a kid Sam also wanted to be a vet. She wanted to help sickly animals and make sure they would feel better. But the sicker Tucker got, the more her ambitions changed.
Vet, teacher, environmentalist, nurse, doctor.
But as they got older and Tucker got sicker, she grew more disillusioned with the world. She knew that no matter how hard she tried, she’d never be able to help everyone. Not even those closest to her.
Tucker died when they were thirteen.
If only she’d stepped in sooner. If only she’d thought to call on her own family’s doctors sooner. If only their medical system wasn’t so fucked up in this godforsaken country. Then maybe everything would have turned out okay. Maybe her world wouldn’t have been shattered.
She didn’t have any sort of hope left until her parents were talking to one of their rich friends about something called miraculous a few months later.
The miraculous were powerful jewels that granted the wearer immense power. There were many of them long ago. The fox, the turtle, the butterfly. The black cat and ladybug. Most of them seemed to have been lost to time though.
The most powerful of all of them were the black cat and ladybug miraculous. Especially used together. Whoever had them both could make a wish and rewrite reality.
Her parents didn’t believe in any of those stories but they didn’t hesitate in buying the butterfly miraculous when they were given the option. They didn’t even ask what it could do.
She had to get her hands on the miraculous. She could use the butterfly miraculous to find the jewels of the black cat and ladybug. She could use them to help Tucker. To get him back.
She spent weeks planning ways to get the brooch from her parents. It was all for naught when her parents ended up simply gifting it to her. They thought she might like it. It fit her style and interests in the strange while still being elegant and regal.
She pretended she lost it two weeks later.
Her parents were furious but she couldn’t have them growing suspicious once she started using the miraculous and learning what it could do.
When she put on the miraculous for the first time she was surprised to see a little creature flit out of it. Nooroo was the kwami of transmission. He explained that she could grant one person powers of her choosing and they would follow her orders. She could send them to find the miraculous for her.
She transformed for the first time in her greenhouse. She called on a butterfly and did what Nooroo told her. Channel her energy and look for someone she could grant powers to.
It took a bit of practicing, but after a moment of listening she could hear someone’s distressed thoughts. She sent her akuma off.
Sam would get her wish. She needed to bring him back. She needed to help him.
She was going to save him.

Someone of greater skill
James Potter was great at scheming, exceptional even. It was rare moments like these when someone foiled his plans, and it took someone of even greater skill to do so.
‘Are you kidding me!’ James exclaimed, alarm clock in hand. He threw it onto the rose covered bed exasperated, and crossed his arms staring at his boyfriend who this time, was the one to ruin them.
‘What.’ Regulus sighed.
‘Why are you awake!’ James huffed.
‘I’m sorry, usually when people go to sleep they wake up at some point you know.’ He drawled, ignoring James scowl.
‘Not you! You sleep for hours on end! Of course the one time you’re awake before me it’s to ruin my life.’ James wailed, he threw himself back down on the bed, allowing the pillows to absorb him.
‘So you’re not even going to acknowledge what I did for today despite the fact you’re aware of how I feel over such egregious holidays like today?’ Regulus sat down next to him, amusement played on his voice.
‘Nope.’ James emphasised the word dramatically. ‘I wanted to be the one to decorate our room!’ He let out a whine.
‘So ungrateful.’ Regulus tsk’d. He leaned back on the bed, his fingers making their way through James hair.
James turned on his side to face him. As he stared up as his beautiful partner, he realised he was willing to forgive him for ruining his surprise.
He glanced around the room, flower petals floated around the room. Heart shaped chocolates covered his bedside table, and a Stag shaped teddy bear that was the size of a small child sat in Regulus’ reading chair.
‘I forgive you.’ He mumbled, fighting so hard with everything in him to not smile.
‘I promise next year to sleep in so you can do this for me instead of me beating you to it three years in a row- how about that?’ Regulus tilted his head.
James could only nod. Unable to contain his excitement anymore he wrapped his arms around Regulus’ neck and pulled him down into a soft brush of lips. A gentle kiss, a thank you.
‘Happy Valentines Day, Potter.’ James gave him a cheesy smile.
‘Are you ever going to stop doing that?’ Regulus shook his head disapprovingly, but his eyes shone brightly as he looked down at James.
No matter how much time had passed, and would continue to pass, James would never stop loving the way that Regulus looked at him.
‘Never.’

Partner (Final Rose x Pokemon)
Note: In the Final Rose x Pokemon AU, Cynthia x Averia is a thing. Phoebe is their first kid.
Averia loved all of her children, and she wanted the absolute best for them in life. That was why she'd spoken to her mother about getting an egg for Phoebe. It had become clear very early on that Phoebe wanted to become a trainer just like Averia and Cynthia.
She could already imagine the pressure that Phoebe would be under once she began her journey. Averia came from a family of World Champions, and Cynthia probably would have become one too if Averia and Diana hadn't split the position between themselves for so long.
In short, Phoebe had pedigree.
And Averia was going to make sure that she got a starter who could match that pedigree.
Averia had gotten Torrent when she was six years old, and Diana had gotten Inferno at the same age. It was customary amongst the Yun Clan, and Cynthia had agreed that it would be good for Phoebe to get her starter early too. If nothing else, it would reduce the pressure on her a bit when she finally began her journey.
And so Averi had asked for the egg.
It was a Riolu egg, and it's lineage was one many trainers, even Regional Champions, would kill for.
The mother was a Lucario... who was the daughter of Lightning's Lucario. And Lightning's Lucario was the Lucario, the starter and ace of the greatest World Champion in history, a Pokemon who had never once been defeated when holding the anchor position. His daughter had not accomplished those heady highs... but Lightning had trained her too, and she had proven to be almost as accomplished as her legendary father.
And the egg's father?
That was Cynthia's own Lucario, one of the strongest Pokemon in the world.
It honestly wasn't fair. But Averia didn't care. Phoebe was her daughter. She wouldn't fight her battles for her, but she would absolutely make sure that she was as well-armed as possible. Besides, they wouldn't be giving Phoebe the rest of her team. Like Averia, Diana, and Cynthia, she would be gathering the rest herself.
Averia very much looked forward to seeing what her daughter would come up with.
Years later...
"Mother!" Phoebe wailed, clutching at Averia's leg. "You have to help me plan!"
Averia raised one eyebrow. "You want me to help you develop a plan to beat your mom?"
Phoebe nodded. "Yes." Beside her, her Lucario nodded too. "I'm your daughter, you have to help me!"
"Your mom is my wife. Maybe I should help her instead."
"But mom is already a Regional Champion! I'm just a tournament winner. I need your help more!"
Averia tried not to laugh. Phoebe had more than met everybody's expectations by beating all the gyms in their region in a year and then winning the tournament. She had then accepted the traditional Champion vs Tournament Winner match... thereby pitting her against Cynthia.
Cynthia had certainly found it amusing. She had secretly confided to Averia afterward, that she'd almost burst out laughing when Phoebe finally realised that, yes, she would have to fight her in a match that would be televised across the entire world.
"Phoebe, you're my daughter, and I love you very much." Averia patted her daughter on the head. "But I'm not going to help you."
"But... but...!"
"I remember when I won the tournament for Oerba. As the tournament winner, I too accepted the challenge to face the Regional Champion." Averia shuddered at the memory. "I was actually stupid enough to think I might be able to challenge my mother."
Phoebe blinked. "Wow. You actually thought you could beat Grandma Lightning?"
Averia sighed. "Yes. Like I said, I was stupid. I begged your Grandma Fang for help. After all, the closest anybody ever got to beating your Grandma Lightning was when she faced your Grandma Fang."
"Bahamut is a beast!" Phoebe said.
"Indeed. Instead, your Grandma Fang told me to do my best and that miracles can happen when you work hard and believe."
"There wasn't a miracle, was there?" Phoebe asked.
"Oh no. Your Grandma Lightning obliterated me. She sent her Lucario out and swept my team." Averia's eye twitched in aggravation. "And afterward, she patted me on the head and complimented me for lasting as long as I did. The worst bit was that she was being honest. Sure, I got swept, but I lasted longer than the last four tournament winners combined."
"..." Phoebe shuddered. "Mom is going to kick my ass, isn't she?"
"Almost certainly."
Author's Notes
Cynthia... terrorising her own children, and you can bet that she'll have Averia playing the piano for the theme too.
In all seriousness, Phoebe was absolutely under a lot of pressure right from the start due to who her parents were. Cynthia was still the Regional Champion, and Averia was head of the Pokemon Academy in Sinnoh.
Everybody was taking bets on whether or not she'd live up the family reputation (both sides). The fact that she did says it all. Alas, her run of victories came to an end when Cynthia kicked her ass. That said, Phoebe does eventually become the World Champion.
Funnily enough, her team ends up resembling Lightning's more than Diana's or Averia's teams ever do. For instance, Phoebe has a Lucario, and Garchomp, and a Gardevoir, all Pokemon that Lightning famously had on her team. However, she fights more like Cynthia and Averia than like Lightning.
She is exceptional at studying her opponents and their Pokemon to develop plans for battles. However, she is also outstanding at adapting on the fly and learns very quickly. As a trainer, she is renowned for her keen battle sense, which allows her to snowball even the smallest advantage into an insurmountable victory.
During her era, the World Champion position was generally contested between Averia's branch of the family and Diana's. Many people remarked on how nostalgic it was since it reminded them of when Diana and Averia would routinely swap the position between them.

Future-Tense Ghosts • [1] [2] [3]
--
The walls of the ranch greet him like an old friend. The stone walls aren’t the sturdiest, rocks only held together by mud and gravity, but its the imperfections that put an ease to Jimmy’s anxieties. It’s home like a battered kettle, like an unmade bed that’s still warm, like earthy dandelion tea.
“Tango!” Jimmy runs to the gates, practically leaping over them in his haste. “Tango, are you here?!”
Jimmy’s heart crawls it’s way up to his throat. Pinpricks of worry bite at his spine, growing sharper as he nears the door of the cabin. He can hear Etho and Joel calling out behind him, but they are muffled by the deafening silence of an empty ranch.
He’s not here. He’s not here. He’s not—
“Rancher buddy?”
It’s like being plucked from an ice patch and sat in front of a hearth. Ultimately jarring, but Jimmy clings to the warmth, dizzy.
“Tango, it’s me!” Jimmy’s head whips around. “Where are you?”
“Here, here! I’m over here!”
It takes a while, but Jimmy sees it — a pair of red eyes, wide and glowing in the darkness, peeking out of a haystack in the empty stables. They flash like lit redstone, cat-like pupils dilating, and before Jimmy can blink, straw is sent scattering across the barn.
Tango is a blur of red and yellow. He rolls out, hay caught in his fiery hair, before landing on all fours like some feral raccoon. Acts like one too, because soon he’s launching himself at Jimmy, dragging him into a tight hug that smells of fire and soot and dust -- and hay. Definitely hay. He’d been hiding in the stables for far too long. Jimmy doesn’t care. He just closes his eyes and sinks into the hug.
“You’re not going to believe the night I’ve had.” Jimmy’s voice is muffled in Tango’s shoulder, and it shakes with reverberations as his partner’s laugh
“You kidding? I could feel the night you had.” Tango lingers in the embrace, tail curled until Jimmy finally pulls away. “What happened? One moment I’m just strolling along, the next it feels like there’s a knife in my gut!”
“You see—“
“Jimmy is what happened,” Joel pipes up from behind.
Oh. Right. Them.
Maybe Joel didn’t notice the private moment or, more likely, he just didn’t care, because he’s sauntering up to the ranchers with his usual smug grin. But there’s a pause; briefly, but its there, eyes flickering from one rancher to the next, and something almost seems to shift in his expression.
“We got ambushed on the way here.” Joel punched Jimmy in the shoulder, causing both ranchers to yelp and rub their arms. “Luckily this sod managed to beat it off before any real damage could happen.”
“I, uh, huh?”
“He did? But I’m pretty sure—“ Etho grunts as Joel smacks him the shoulder. There’s a stare-off between the two, a silent conversation exchanged, before something finally clicks into place. “… Oh! I mean, yeah. Jimmy totally fought it back on his own. With an axe and everything.“
Jimmy blinks. “I did?”
“Oh, yeah.” Etho nods sagely. “Remember? We got spooked. Joel ended up crying.”
“Hold on,” Joel frowns. “That’s a bit—“
“Just absolutely wailing like a baby.”
“Etho!”
“Too much?”
“But I…” Jimmy stops at Joel’s pointed stare. Ah, well. Mouths and gift-horses and all that. “…Yes! I did fight it off! That’s, uh, what they call me. The Enderslayer.”
“It’s got a nice ring to it.” Tango cracks a smile. “But I still prefer to call you my rancher.”
“And I prefer to have candle lit dinners for my double dates. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like we’ve got time for that.” Joel crosses his arms. “I do believe you owe us a little…?”
Oh. Right. Alright, so Jimmy regrets the promise a little bit.
“A deal?” Tango raises an eyebrow.
“So I may have promised them some sugarcane if they helped me get home.” Jimmy offers a sheepish smile. “And by some I mean, um…well, all of it, really.”
“What.“
“It was important!”
“All of it?” Tango runs a hand down his face, grimacing at the thought. “…Alright. Wait here. I’ll see what we have.”
“Ah-thank you.” Joel grins as Tango turns to head into the house, his smirk widening as his eyes meet Jimmy’s. “You know, I should charge you extra. ‘Enderslayer’?.”
“It sounded cooler in my head. And I’m already giving you all my sugarcane, what more do you want?”
“Sand, gunpowder, the heads of all my enemies.” Joel shrugs. “But I doubt you can give me any of that, so sugarcane will do for now.”
“That’s—“ Jimmy’s eyes narrow. Paper, sand, gunpowder. “You’re planning something. An explosive something.”
“Me? I would never.” Joel’s faux appallment doesn’t last long. His smile is too big for it. “I mean, obviously I would, but it’s not for you, rest assured.”
Etho sidles up to Joel, easily leaning on his shorter partner’s head. “We need traps. Big ones. At some point, everyone’s gonna wanna kill everyone, and we’ll be ready.”
“I think we’re already past that point. I mean, not us, I hope, but…” Jimmy pauses, his brow furrowing. “Hey. Shift from topic, sorry, but why did you cover for me? I know we’ve got a red alliance, but you’re…Joel.”
“Gee. Thanks.”
“No no no! I mean, usually you jump at every opportunity to make fun of me. So why?”
“Dunno. Too easy, I suppose. Maybe I just want something from you in the future.” Joel shrugs, and for once his smile sobers ever so slightly. “Regardless, your soulmate obviously thinks the world of you, ‘Enderslayer’ or not. Try not to let him think otherwise?”
Jimmy glanced back over his shoulder at the house, his heart fluttering as he catches a flash of yellow in the window. Tango pokes his head out the door, pointed teeth peeking out of a wide grin. His red eyes gleam brightly in the night, sparking like the dust he’s so fond of, and for a moment Jimmy feels both their hearts beat just a little bit faster.
“Don’t worry,” Jimmy says quietly. “I don’t plan to.”
“I’ve got the stuff!” Tango holds up a small, carefully wrapped package in his hands as he approaches the group. “It’s not much, but…”
“But it’s now mine. Yoink.” Joel is quick to pluck the sugarcane, any hint of previous tenderness gone. “Thank you very much. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be off plotting…things. Maybe you can stop by in the morning when we’re all set up. Come on Etho!” With a whoop of laughter, the two are gone, propelling themselves over the gate and into the the forest beyond. Their glee is slightly concerning, given their apparent plan or lack of, but Jimmy shrugs it off. He’s got other thing to worry about.
“You didn’t actually give them all our sugarcane, did you?” Jimmy glances back at Tango. His partner gives a derisive snort.
“Not even half.” Tango laughs and slaps Jimmy on the back, his hand lingering in his partner’s shoulder. “Let’s get you inside. You’ve got a lot of explaining to do Enderslayer.”

Can I request Aizawa with a popular hero s/o? Class 1-A loves them and goes crazy when they find out he’s married to their idol.
Aizawa x GN!reader
In which reader is Aizawa's married partner and is popular with crowds and loved by class 1-A.
Warnings: None
Genre: Fluff
Note: (H/n) = Hero name
Being a man who savoured his alone time, mostly spending it catching up with sleep due to his hectic scheduling of night patrol and teaching students, he was surprised to have fallen for a colleague who fell into the spotlight and enamoured everyone they came in contact with. They were the prime example of ‘opposites attract’ and it was oddly endearing.
Y/n always emitted a comforting energy around them, their soft and nurturing nature drawing admirers and fans, hence shooting their rank in the Heroes poll right under the popular winged hero. Despite their popularity due to their personality, their strong ability to maneuver their quirk and quick thinking under stressful situations had gained them respect with both civilians and heroes.
Because of the awareness that Aizawa does not enjoy the spotlight, Y/n had always arrived to their shared home in secrecy to avoid paparazzi and crazed fans from finding out their humble abode, a comfortable one bedroom modern apartment that was perfect for the pair of them. Their odd schedules seemed to clash but the couple always made it work, sometimes sacrificing each other’s sleep to be able to spend time with the other -usually Y/n as they know Aizawa lacks enough sleep already.
“Sweetheart, it’s time for you to wake up.” Y/n whispers softly, leaning over Aizawa and tracing their forefinger around his facial features, easing him awake. A groan rumbles in the man’s throat before he slowly opens his eyes, a soft smile taking over as he’s met with the worried gaze of his partner. “Good morning.” Aizawa’s voice rasps out, throat dry from just waking up.
“Morning, my love.”
Aizawa takes their hand that was on his face and places it on his lips, giving it a peck before letting go.
“Breakfast is ready.” Y/n informs before trudging out of the room, leaving a sighing Aizawa as he dreaded dealing with a bunch of chaotic teenagers.
When Aizawa came out freshened up and dressed in his hero uniform, he was met with Y/n leaning on the kitchen counter in their pyjamas, sipping on coffee in their favourite mug and focussing on their phone. Y/n had a late start in the morning for their shift in the agency, so they tried making the most of their morning.
Aizawa walked towards them, placing both hands on the counter, confining them in between his arms. Y/n raised an eyebrow at his approach, placing their phone away and looking at him while having the rim of the mug on their lips as they took a sip. “Need anything?” A smirk played on their lips as Aizawa scoffed at their question, swiftly swooping down and placing a kiss on their lips.
Y/n placed their mug on the counter, besotted in the affection their partner was showcasing. Aizawa brought his hands to their hips and helped them up onto the counter, slotting himself in between them with both hands on their thighs. Y/n ran their hand through his hair as they gazed at each other with deep longing and understanding. “You don’t have much time.” Y/n murmured, leaning their head onto his shoulder, placing a soft kiss on his neck, making goosebumps arise on the touched skin.
“I know, I’m enjoying while I can.” Aizawa sighed, grabbing the mug Y/n had placed aside and taking a sip from it. Y/n let out a sound of disapproval, “you have your own coffee right there!” They pointed at the steaming mug placed on the kitchen table.
“Just giving yours a try.” He shrugged, a smile on his lips as he grabbed his mug and leaned back against the counter in between Y/n’s legs. Y/n ran their fingers through his hair, untangling the knots he seemed to not have brushed out. “I have patrol till six today, I won’t be home when you come back from work.” Y/n spoke.
Aizawa had his eyes closed as he savoured the warm beverage and the calm feeling of his partner working on his hair. “That’s alright, be sure to eat dinner early. Stay safe.” Aizawa was upset that they didn’t even get weekends to spend together to do normal couple things, it was a rare occurrence for both their schedules to align.
When Aizawa did enter his homeroom classroom, facing the rowdy students of class 1-A, he stumbled upon a conversation between Mineta and Kaminari, “(H/n) is so cool! I can’t believe they aren’t higher up in the hero rankings, they have an amazing record of defeating villains!” Kaminari gushed.
“Forget that! Do you see how sexy they look? With that sweet nature of theirs, I’m sure they must be so submiss-” Bindings wrapped around the short grape boy as Aizawa held a menacing glare, the class hushing with the sudden change in mood.
“It would do you good not to speak of my partner in such a vulgar manner.”
A beat of silence was held before the class erupted in excitement and confusion, “partner?!”
Ashido raised her hand up high and wiggled it around before Aizawa sighed and beckoned her to speak, “sensei! Are romantically involved with (H/n)?!”
There he’s done it, Aizawa was aware of his class idolizing Y/n and now he’s gotten his privacy breached. “Yes, we are married.”
Ensue more shock and raised hands.
After a gruelling day of being interrogated by his students and teaching, Aizawa made his way home before he would start his nightly patrol. Shoving the keys in the lock, he opened the door and let himself inside, upset that he would be home alone for the remainder of his time.
“Ah, shit!”
Aizawa froze as he heard the sound coming from the bathroom, eyes glancing towards the clock in the kitchen. Y/n wasn’t supposed to be home yet. He rushed his way into the bathroom to come across Y/n with a gash on the side of their head which they were tending to.
“What happened?!”
Y/n jumped at the sudden loud noise, turning around and finding their husband with a worried gaze settled onto their wound. “Nothing serious, I got caught off guard because of that stupid birdbrain of a hero.” Y/n waved it off, scoffing when they mentioned Hawks. Aizawa held their face in between his hands as he inspected the wound, it wasn’t deep but it would need to be cared for.
As Aizawa cleaned the blood around the wound and disinfected it, he brought up the incident today. “My class also really wants to meet you.”
Y/n was aware of how much Aizawa adored his class, despite not wording it and pretending they were a lot of work. “I’d love to meet them too! I’m free tomorrow if you’d like.” Y/n offered. Aizawa swallowed nervously, “tomorrow sounds good.” Y/n had never visited U.A. while Aizawa was working, and he was nervous about the whole ordeal.
To say he was nervous was an understatement, Aizawa kept glancing at the classroom door as he was teaching, wondering when they’d come in and how things would go. It wasn’t like him to be nervous but perhaps he wanted to show Y/n how well he could handle kids like they could.
As he monitored the class doing their worksheets, the door slid open revealing Y/n holding a small bento in their hands. “It’s (H/n)!” The class were bouncing with excitement and squeals could be heard. Y/n gave a friendly wave to the class as they made their way to Aizawa, giving him a kiss on the cheek, riling the students up more, before placing the bento box on his desk.
“Hello class 1-A! It’s great to finally meet you!” Y/n gave their brightest smile as they were excited to meet Aizawa’s ‘problem children’. They seemed to be a lively bunch with unique appearances, it was very endearing to see teenagers with bright smiles and a strong heart.
“How’d you meet Aizawa sensei, (H/n)?” Ashido had questioned, buzzing with excitement as she gazed over what the hero was wearing. “You guys can call me Y/n.” Y/n winked, “also we met back in high school, but we were acquaintances until he started working with an underground agency and I gained the courage to ask him out.”
“If Aizawa sensei can get someone like Y/n, then there’s still hope for us!” Kaminari wailed, a glare pointed at him by his teacher.
Y/n snickered, “despite his rugged appearance, he’s quite the charmer.” They praised, causing the girls in the class to swoon at the sweet words.
“So Shota, are you going to show me how strong your class really is?”
Ground Beta never seemed to get awfully torn down when Y/n was in U.A., but it seems that Aizawa’s class held destructive and strong quirks that left their mouth wide open at the power a bunch of teenagers held. Especially the three Aizawa had mentioned once or twice in passing; Todoroki Shoto, Bakugou Katsuki, and Midoriya Izuku.
“Here dear, let’s get you hydrated.” Y/n handed Uraraka a bottle of water as the girl looked nauseas from the overuse of her quirk. “T-thank you!” Uraraka bowed timidly before shakily grabbing the bottle, Y/n just gave her a gentle smile and ruffled her hair, “you were so cool Uraraka, and your hero suit is adorable.” A fiery blush erupted on the girl’s face at the compliment and affectionate touch.
“What do you think of my quirk?!” An overexcited Kaminari ran over to the two, seeing his idol praise Uraraka had him craving for approval from the hero. “It’s very powerful, Kaminari! You’re doing great with the limited usage as well to not overwhelm yourself!” Y/n pinched his cheek, a slight static grazing the pads of their fingers as the blonde was jittering with joy.
“Stop hogging her Denki!” Jirou had shoved the blonde away, “Jirou! I’m so excited to be seeing more of your quirk in use! I love how calm you are while IN action!”
“Y/n! Can we train together?”
“Yeah! I wanna see what it’s like fighting a real pro!”
Y/n grinned at their enthusiasm and agreed, all of class A seemed to have brightened up and tried their best to show off to their idol.
Aizawa was watching from a distance, a soft smile on his lips as he watched his partner interact with his students. They were always good with kids, especially teenagers, as they claimed all the kids ever want is someone to listen to them and understand their thought process. Maybe he would bring Y/n along often to training during their off days.

Gojo Satoru x Reader
!!Warning!! This is self-indulgent fic. Sort of teacher x student relationships. Age gap. Implied suggestive theme. Character death. Fluff. If you are not comfortable, please don’t read this. As a caution, Minor please don’t interact.
[Name] 5 years old
Gojo Satoru 16 years old
Geto Suguru 15 years old
Ieiri Shoko 16 years old
"Satoru." My head poked into the class from the opened sliding door.
"Ah! My cute [Name]-chan!" Satoru grinned as he quickly picked me up. He rubs his cheek to mine, causing me to giggle.
"Satoru, your glasses hurt." I complained.
"Don't worry. Pain, pain, flies away." He smooched my cheek.
"Satoru. Let her down." Suguru sighed at his antics.
"Nope. You are just jealous that [Name]-chan likes me more than you." Satoru planted me on his lap, while still hugging my small frame.
"Konbanwa, Suguru." I smiled.
"Konbanwa, [Name]-chan. How are you today?" Suguru smiled.
"Today, our teacher gave us homework." I excitedly started telling them my day.
"What kind of homework?" Suguru asked.
"Making a flower. I am going to make a lot." I spread my hand to express how many I would make. "I will give you one later, okay?"
"That's very kind of you. I will look forward to it."
"Nooo~. [Name]-chan. You won't give me a flower?" Satoru put his head on top of mine, whining.
"Silly Satoru. Of course I will give you one." I giggled.
"Promise?" He stuck out his pinkie.
"Promise." I warped my pinkie to his. ~"~
Suguru sighs while looking at his partner's antics. This little girl is the only one he showed affection openly. Usually he will tease, flirt or taunt the opposite gender. But, that's it. He never showed any interest in them. But, this little girl has him wrapped around her fingers.
'...Does that mean…' "Satoru…" The high school first grader called his friend.
"What?" Satoru replied but his thumb was still engaged in chicken fight with the little girl.
"...You won't lay your hand on her, right?"
"..." It took a while for his friend to process what he was asking. "The hell you are thinking." He made a disgusted face. He is fond of this girl and showers with affection. But he regards her as a precious little sister. Well, that might change in due time.
"As long as you know. That's fine." Suguru sighed in relief. ~"~
"What are you talking about?" I blinked up at the older teens.
"Nothing to worry about. So, what kind of flower are you going to give me?" Satoru asked.
"Secret. You will know when the time comes." I put a finger on my mouth, making a shushing motion.
"Eeehhh~. I want to know now." Satoru whined.
"Bad Satoru." I puffed my cheeks.
"Aw. I am sorry. Don't get mad. Or I will… give you a tickle." His hand has already started tickling me.
"Ahahaha...hahaha...Sa...Sato...ru...st...stopp...hahahha."
"I will stop if you forgive me."
"Hahaha….o...okay…" I nodded.
The tickling ceased instantly. "You are not playing fair." I huffed.
"Ahahaha. Don't get mad. Here. A lollipop." He shoved the candy stick to my mouth.
"!!!" My tongue swirled around the candy. "Melon flavor." I blinked. "Ah!" My eyes shot towards the clock which showed 3 o'clock. I wriggle out from Satoru's lap.
"[Name]-chan. Where are you going?"
"I promised Yae-chan to play together." I smiled. "I am going then. Bye bye Satoru, Suguru."
"Bye bye, [Name]-chan." Satoru waved.
"See you tomorrow." Suguru smiled.
Today, Yae-chan and I are going to play tag in a park. Some of our classmates from the Sakura class are also here.
"[Name]-chan!" Yae-chan waved her hand.
"Yae-chan!" I smiled back as I waved to her.
Fun times always fly past quickly. It's 5 o'clock now. Time for us children to go home.
Few days later, Mikan-chan, Hinako-chan, and Sera-chan invite Yae-chan and I to another game of tag. Of course we agreed.
So, after school, I told Ijichi-san I am going to play tag with friends, so I won't be visiting Satoru.
"Mikan-chan, where are we going to play today? The park?" Yae-chan asked curiously.
"Hehe. Nope. We will play in a big house today." Mikan-chan said proudly.
"Big house?" The rest of us blinked.
"Yes. We are almost there." Mikan-chan said. After a twist and turn, we finally arrived at a big house Mikan-chan said.
"...Mikan-chan, are you sure you want to play tag here…?" I looked at the obviously ominous house.
"Of course. It will be so fun here." Mikan-chan talked as she was oblivious of the strange scent the house omitted.
"Hmph. Are you scared?" Hinako-chan jeered.
I frown at her. "I am not. But, Satoru said don't go near the house like this. It's dangerous." I said.
"Satoru? Ah. That neighbour onii-chan." Yae-chan said.
"Hmph. Nothing is dangerous, you stupid. There is no ghost. You are just afraid." Hinako-chan sneered.
"I am not afraid." I puffed my cheeks.
"Yes, you are. And that neighbour of yours is probably lying to you." She added.
"Satoru is not a liar!" I yelled. "Satoru never lies to me!" I told her.
"Adults are always lying. My mother said so." Hinako-chan retorted.
"Satoru is not a liar. I will prove to you that ghosts exist." I was miffed, completely forgetting the warning I had received.
"Fine." Hinako-chan stuck her chest out. Thus, the game of tag is quickly forgotten. Right now, they are going to prove the existence of ghosts. ~"~
Yae quickly runs to [Name]'s house. All she can think about is how to get to her house quickly. Fortunately, the house isn't that far. But, to a little kid this is already exhausting all her strength.
Yae panted as she arrived at Sakuya's house. She sees [Name]'s mother talking to 2 men.
"[Name]-chan's Mama!" Yae yelled, catching their attention.
Hisaki Reika, Suguru and Satoru shift their attention to Yae. The crying little girl collapses to her knees, fortunately being caught by Satoru. "Otto."
"Yae-chan?! What's wrong?" She asked the child, worry and concern evident in her tone and face.
"[Name]-chan… danger…" Yae hiccuped.
"Where are they?" Satoru asked, it's a rare case where he actually talked seriously.
"Yae-chan. Calm down and take a deep breath. Slowly… inhale… exhale…." She instructed.
Satoru shifts his hold on Yae, so Yae is being propped by his arm. Yae follows Reika's instructions, so she starts calming down.
"In what direction?" Satoru asked again.
"Satoru, don't scare her. Let her catch her breath." Suguru admonished, he knew his partner was anxious.
"Yae-chan, please tell me what you know." Reika smiled.
"...They are in an abandoned house near the park we usually play." Yae hiccuped.
"Got it." He transferred Yae to Reika and quickly teleported.
"Satoru-" He left before Suguru could say something. "Yare yare. Yae-chan. Please tell me the whole story." He smiled kindly.
Yae starts telling them their story. "Mi-Mikan-chan said she found a big house to play tag near the park. Then…[Name]-chan said this house is dangerous, she said her neighbour onii-chan said so. Hinako-chan said that onii-chan is lying. [Name]-chan said onii-chan won't lie to her….They fight with each other before [Name]-chan said she will prove to Hinako-chan that ghosts exist." Yae recounted. "...sorry...I should have stopped them." Fresh tears started flowing again.
"Oh no. Yae-chan this is not your fault. Don't worry. [Name]-chan and the others will be fine. That strong onii-chan will rescue them." She assured the little girl.
"R...really?" The little girl hiccuped.
"Yes, of course." She smiled reassuringly at the little girl.
"Then, Hisaki-san, I'll be on my way too." Suguru nodded at her.
"Okay. Be careful. I will go there after I take Yae-chan home." Reika nodded back.~"~
"Hic…"
"Sssshhhh…" I tried to shush Hinako's cry. "Don't cry or she will find us." I whispered to the other them.
The exploration starts normally. We argue as we open each door on the first floor. Of course there's nothing. And this fact made Hinako-chan more unbridled. She keeps saying Satoru is a liar. Of course, I am angry too. Satoru is not a liar.
But the deeper we go the more I smell the foul stench. On the 3rd floor. There's this one room with a particular strong vile stench. "The spirit must be here." I mumbled.
"Hmph. I am sure there's nothing inside." Hinako-chan said. Mio-chan and Mikan-chan seem to agree.
"Nee...let's just go. This room feels creepy." Yae-chan said.
"You are just afraid. As I thought, your neighbour is a liar." Hinako-chan harrumphed.
"Satoru is not a liar. I will prove it to you." I huffed. I also feel this room is creepy and definitely dangerous. But she says Satoru is a liar. I can't forgive her. So, I mustered up the courage to push open the door. The old door creaks open. We are unaware of the curse residing inside.~"~
"Are you ready?" The eerie voice echoed in the building. Hinako-chan and the others clamped her mouth tighter, afraid their cries would leak out. But a small whimper still leaks out from her mouth.
My heart is beating so fast I can even hear it. The voice and footsteps echo louder. I bit my lips thinking what should no, what can I do against that monster.
"Satoru, can you teach me how to exorcise cursed spirits?" I blinked up to the older male.
"[Name]-chan. You need curse energy to exorcise one." Satoru smiled cockily.
"So, I can't?" My mouth turned upside down.
"Well… there's one that you might can do." He drawled.
"Really?! Tell me?!" Excitement bubbled up.
"It's like this." He grinned as he taught me.~"~
"Found you."
"Kyaaaaa!!!!"
I quickly throw the nearest object I found within my reach which has no effect on it.
"Rin pyo toh sha kai jin retsu zai zen" I made a kuji-kiri. The lines I made in the air sort of materialized as light and attacked the curse.
"Let's run!" I yelled. The others and I quickly ran towards the door. Once we are out, I close the door. We still can hear clearly the curse's wail.
"I want to go home." Hinako cried.
"Let's go." I grabbed their hands and started running again. "You guys stay here and don't make a sound." I told them and closed the door. "Rin pyo toh sha kai jin retsu zai zen." I threw another kuji-kiri to focus its attention on me. I quickly ran as I was chased. I didn't run for long before I cornered.
"Are you...ready? Found you…" The grotesque curse stamped toward me.
'Scary...I...am...scared…' "...help...HELP ME! SATORU!" I yelled as I closed my eyes.
A loud crash was heard and a smell of wisteria enveloped me. "Sa...to..ru…" My opened eyes took a glimpse of white hair and sparkling blue eyes.
"[Name]-chan. Close your eyes and ears, okay? And don't move until I say so." He smiled sweetly.
"Eh? Okay." I nodded and obediently did as I was told. I can't hear or see anything except the vile smell that started to dissipate. Again, I was enveloped in a nice wisteria smell.
"You can open your eyes now." He said gently.
"Satoru…?" I blinked.
"Yep. The Gojo Satoru is here. You can rest easy." He winked.
"Where is everyone?" I gasped in realization.
"Don't worry. I found them before I found you. Right now they are outside the building with Suguru...maybe.... They are safe now. So are you." He stroke my head.
"Re...really?"
"Of course. I will never lie to you." He grinned.
"Hic...hic...Uwaaaaa!" I wailed. The tears are flowing nonstop. "Scary… I am scared…" I clung to Satoru as if he was my only lifeline.
"I am here now… no one can hurt you…" He cooed.
I cried for a good while. Now with my small hands wrapped around his neck, Satoru escorted me out of the abandoned house.
"[Name]!" I heard mama's voice.
"Mama!" I wriggled as I stretched my hands to her.
Satoru transfers me to her arms easily. "Mama!" I wrapped my hands tightly around her.
"It's good you are alright." She sighed in relief.
"Satoru saved me." I smiled.
"Thank you, Satoru-kun. Suguru-kun too, thank you for rescuing the others." Mama bowed.
"No. It was our duty. No need to thank us." Suguru smiled.
"There's no way I will let [Name]-chan get hurt." Satoru supplied.
"[Name]." Mama set me on the ground. My senses are tingling. "Didn't Satoru-kun tell you not to go inside the abandoned house?"
"...I…Hinako-chan said Satoru is a liar. I just want her to know Satoru is not a liar." I muttered, sneaking a peek at her, only to be stared down with hard glare. "Satoru…" I pleaded to the older teen. He always takes my side.
"Even though I am happy. I am quite angry with you too, [Name]-chan." Satoru smiled.
I flinch, then I look at my last resort, Suguru.
"There's no use looking at me, [Name]-chan." Suguru smiled too.
"I...am sorry…I just don't want her to say Satoru is a liar. Satoru is...not a...liar" I hiccuped, tears started flowing again.
"[Name]-chan." I heard Satoru sighed as he lifted me up. "I don't really care if they say I am a liar. I just don't want you hurt. As long as you believe in me. I will be fine." Satoru patted my head.
"[Name], you are a kind child. But Mama doesn't want anything to happen to you. If something happens to you. Mama will…" Mama choked out a sob.
"Sorry...I am sorry, mama!" I wailed. The incident was over. The rescued children were all asleep and brought back to their parents. They were told the children fall asleep after playing some kind of adventure game. The children will quickly forget after they wake up believing that was some kind of dream. The only ones who properly remember this are Yae-chan and me.
Yae-chan has promised to keep this a secret. That night, the dinner was lively. Satoru and Suguru were eating with us.
"[Name]-chan, it's time to sleep." Satoru patted my bed. Wearing blue pajamas, I crawl to the bed. "Let's tuck you to bed." He grinned.
"Satoru, don't turn off the light, okay." I murmured.
"Are you afraid?" He blinked.
"Un…" I nodded my head.
"Then, next time, please don't go to dangerous places. You should just ignore whatever they are saying." He flicked my forehead. A small 'itta' escaped my mouth. "You really worried me, [Name]-chan." He sighed.
"Sorry...Satoru… I promised I won't go to dangerous places again." I stuck my pinkie to him.
"You promised, okay. Don't break it. If you break your promise, you will have to swallow a thousand needles." He wrapped his pinkie to mine.
"I will. So, Satoru, don't leave me alone okay." I am getting sleepy. My eyes are dropping.
"Sweet dreams." With a kiss on the forehead, I am out like a feather. ~"~
Gojo Satoru, he prided himself to be strong. He didn't really understand why he should have protected the weak. This world no matter how evolved, the rule is still the same. The strong prey on the weak.
But as usual, there is always an exception. For Gojo Satoru, his exception is the little girl sleeping on the bed. This seemingly normal girl. Well, maybe not so normal. As the sole heir of the Gojo clan he is always on guard. Because everyone around him always want a piece of him.
That's why he always taunts and teases them. Just to remind them not to mess with him. But at the same time, this attitude earned him a lot of enemies. The Gojo clan praises him as a genius. So, from the moment he was born, he had to shoulder those unneeded expectations.
He used to try hard because of it, but right now he doesn't give a damn.
Well, this little girl is the first one to tell him. It's okay to take a break and just let go of those expectations. Coming from a little girl, this is quite a feat. That was the first time Gojo Satoru let out a genuine smile for her. ~"~
"Satoru." A small girl not older than 3 years old poked her head into his room.
"[Name]-chan." Satoru plastered a smile as usual. This little kid from his neighbor seems attached to him. Well, he didn't mind. She was quite amusing for her age. Trying to mimic him and all.
"Satoru. Here, kakigori." [Name] smiled as she handed the sweet to him.
"Oh, kakigori. Thank you [Name]-chan." He never declined a sweet.
"Of course. I hope after you eat it, you will become cheerful." She smiled, her baby teeth showing.
"I am always cheerful." He grinned.
"Nuh uh. You are always sad. I don't know. I just know you are sad. Don't get sad anymore Satoru." The little girl patted his head. "Pain pain goes away.." Her little palm covered his eyes before making a motion like throwing something away. "Pain pain goes away… hic… pain...pain… go..away..." She sobbed.
Bewildered, Satoru finally let out a helpless sigh. "Why are you crying, [Name]-chan?" He patted my head.
"Because you didn't cry. Sorry… I can't take your pain away...sowwy…"
"It's not your fault. [Name]-chan. Thank you for crying for me." He pulled the much smaller girl to a hug. "Don't cry anymore. I will be okay. The pain has gone away." He coaxed the girl.
For the first time in his life. Gojo Satoru knew what it was like being worried by other people. "Really? You are not lying?" [Name] hiccuped.
"Of course." He wiped her snot with a handkerchief. "I will never lie to you." He smiled. "So, don't cry anymore."
"Okay." She nodded, smiling.
"Good, let's eat kakigori toge..ther…" The forgotten kakigori has melted. "Let's go eat ice cream." Satoru lifted the small girl.
"I want bubble gum flavour. Because it's like your eyes, so pretty."
"Eh? [Name]-chan, does that mean you want to eat my eyes?" He put on a faux hurt expression.
"Of course not. Silly Satoru. I just like the colour of your eyes. They are so pretty. Because they are yours." The girl giggled.
"I see. I like your eyes too. They are so honest. Just like you."
"Hehehe, thank you."
From that moment, a genuine bond formed between them. And his affection to her too has become genuine. In other words, he spoiled her rotten, of course within limits. She might be the only one who can bend the Gojo Satoru to her will. Later, she will be known as the Gojo Satoru's owner. ~"~
After the incident, Satoru and Suguru agreed to teach me some basics of close combat for self defense. And apparently, I am not allowed to go out alone for a month. Either being accompanied by Mama, Satoru, Suguru sometimes even Nanamin or someone from Jujutsu High.
Apparently I was born with innate ability as an onmyouji. But, my necklace which was given by my late father is some kind of seal, sealing the ability to see. The seal has weakened, and I start seeing the curse. Mama has told Satoru, Suguru and Masamichi sensei my origin.
Apparently, my great great great...uh… many generations ago, someone from my father's side is a direct descendant from a Keikain, an onmyouji. She is married to a youkai. The Keikain clan died out many generations ago. Father is, what was the word, a leftover. At that time, my grandma from generations ago was expelled from clan because marrying a youkai. They took different surnames and voila, I was born after generations had passed.
When I was born, papa said my spiritual power is too strong, this kind of power is attractive to curses. They are effective in purging curses but also in attracting curses. So, he sealed my power. Hoping I will just live as a normal girl.
But alas, the seal quickly weakened, one because I hung around a lot with someone with a cursed power. Two, I have encountered cursed spirits.
"Mama, am I bad? Is it because this Papa has gone far away?" I blinked my watery eyes.
"Oh no. Of course not, honey. It's definitely not your fault. Papa has gone far away to search for a way to help you." Mama gave me a teary smile.
"Okay…" I nodded.
"...Onmyouji, huh? I am not sure how to handle onmyouji spiritual power." Sensei sighed.
"Is that different from curse power?" Suguru asked.
"If curse energy is negative energy. Then spiritual power is positive power. Though all the same it can be used like curse power. It just, spiritual power is far more attractive to curses than curse power or curse object. I am not sure whether the way of handling them are the same." Sensei said.
"My late husband had some books for spiritual power. I am not sure whether this will help or not." Mama said.
"Can I take a look?"
"Of course." Mama then led Sensei to Papa's study.
"Satoru, Suguru. Will I be okay? Is Mama troubled because of me?" I asked the older males.
"[Name]-chan…"
"Of course not, [Name]-chan. Don't worry. Nothing will happen to you. This Gojo Satoru will protect you. And Reika-san is not troubled because of you." He patted my head.
"Not only Satoru, I will also protect you. What Satoru said is right. Your mom is not troubled because you. That's why don't worry." He smiled.
"Thank you, Satoru, Suguru." I smiled.
So, in the end it's decided I will stay in Jujutsu high with Satoru because it's the best option for my safety. Mama will stay with me every weekend or holiday. My room is in between Satoru and Suguru. Someone will take me to school every morning.
Even though I have my own room, I mostly sleep in Satoru's room when he is not out. And in the morning Suguru will wake us. After school, sensei will tell me how to meditate. According to him, even though I have different power, the way of channelling is more or less the same. So, meditating is the first step. ~"~
Few months later
"Who is this little girl?" A big sister wearing a maiden shrine outfit peered down at me. I hide myself behind Nanamin's leg.
"She is a special student here." Nanamin told her.
"Kon...konichiwa, I am Hisaki [Name]. Umm… nice to meet you." I bowed and hid myself again.
"So cute." She smiled. "I am Iori Utahime. Nice to meet you, [Name]-chan." She kneeled down to my level and smiled.
"Un!" I smiled.
"By the way, she has another nickname." Nanamin said.
"Nickname?"
"Gojo Satoru's owner."
Big sister suddenly freezes. "Onee-chan, what's wrong?" I blinked.
"This little girl is what?" She asked again.
"Gojo Satoru's owner." Nanamin said again.
"We are talking about that Gojo Satoru, right? The annoying arrogant prick. There's no way he will listen to other's orders. Let alone a small girl." Utahime Onee-chan said indecorously.
"But, this is the truth." Nanamin said.
"Are you two fighting?" I looked up at them.
"No. We are not fighting. She is just having trouble processing that you are Gojo-san's owner." Nanamin said.
"Satoru? Onee-chan knows about Satoru's too?" I smiled at her.
"Well, no one doesn't know who he is." Utahime onee-chan grumbled.
"Onee-chan, do you hate Satoru?" I tilted my head. "Satoru is nice. He just doesn't know how to show it."
"Did he brainwash her?"
"No. It's the opposite."
"I can't wait for Utahime to come."
"Satoru, don't tease her." The door opened, revealing Satoru and Suguru.
"Ah! Satoru, Suguru." I waved my hand excitedly.
"[Name]-chan. I have come back. I bought a lot of sweets." Satoru grinned. "Ah, Utahime, there's none for you." Satoru told the girl.
"I don't want any!" Utahime Onee-chan yelled.
"Bad Satoru, sharing is caring." I scolded.
"Well, I care about you, so I share my sweets with you." He grinned.
"Then, what about Suguru?" I titled my head.
"...well, I will give him one then."
"Nanamin too."
"Ok, one for Nanamin."
"What about Utahime onee-chan?"
"Utahime doesn't need it. She is dieting." Satoru whispered (loudly) to my ear.
"I am not!!" Utahime onee-chan yelled.
"See what I mean." Nanamin sighed as he would rather go outside to exorcise curse spirits rather than being in the same room with Satoru.
"Ah, Nanamin." I called. I grab a few sweets from the plastic bag. "Thank you for accompanying me today." I smiled.
"...you are welcome." A slight smile curved on his lips.
"Ah! Nanamin smiled. Let me get a picture." Satoru exclaimed, taking out his phone.
Quickly as it came, Nanamin's smile disappeared. "Then, I will be on my way." Nanamin left.
"Onee-chan, let's eat sweets together." I smiled.
"Ehh~ [Name]-chan. I thought this is our quality time." Satoru whined.
"The more the merrier. Let's ask Shoko too." I clapped my hand.
Shoko finally arrived. We are already waiting for her as we munch the sweets. Utahime onee-chan ate some too. "Shoko, you are late." Satoru said.
"Shoko, I saved your favourite." I waved.
"Thanks, [Name]-chan. Looks like even though you spend a lot of time with Satoru, your personality is still intact." She patted my head.
I… don't understand a thing she said. I blink and look at Satoru. "Shoko, that's not a nice thing to say. I am just fine." Satoru said.
“Satoru.” I called.
“Hm?” He hummed in respond.
“What is owner?” I asked curiously. Satoru blinks owlishly at me.
“Nanamin said, I am Satoru’s owner? What does that mean?” I munched a pocky stick.
“That means, [Name]-chan can ask me to do anything.” He grinned.
“Anything?” I blinked.
“Anything. What do you want me to do?” He smirked proudly.
"Then, Satoru, can you open this for me?" I asked as I handed him a pocky box.
"Of course." Satoru smiled as he used his cursed technique to open the box.
"Amazing." My eyes sparkled.
"Is it? Because I am the strongest." Satoru laughed (cockily).
"You are so amazing, Satoru. I hope I will become like you too." I clapped my hand.
"Yep. But I will be way stronger by then." He smirked.
"Is that so? Then, you will protect me, right?" I smiled.
"Of course. Leave it all to Gojo Satoru." He grinned. ~"~
While the others are still eating without batting an eye. Utahime is gaping. That Gojo Satoru is acting nice in front of a little girl. She was quite skeptical when she heard [Name] is Gojo Satoru's owner. She did tell him to share his sweets and he complied. But, she thought it was just to humour her. Utahime never thought he was so whipped. She can clearly see his affection is genuine.
Utahime looks at Shoko. "This is the usual." Shoko munched her sweets.
"Eehh…" Utahime is processing the scene in front of her. ~"~
"[Name]-chan, it's your bedtime." Satoru lifted me up.
"Eehh… I want to play with Shoko and Utahime onee-chan too." I pouted
"No can do, young lady. It's 9 o'clock. It's time for sleep. Reika-san will get angry if you sleep late." Satoru said.
"...okay… bye bye Shoko, Utahime onee-chan, Suguru." I waved.
"Bye bye." They waved.
After changing into my pajamas, right now I curled in Satoru's bed. "Satoru… Bedtime story." I am excited for bedtime story. Satoru always has some funny stories.
"Well… long long time ago, there was a strong sorcerer named Gojo Satoru…" I giggled at his opening.
"He is so strong that no one can win against him."
"How strong?" I blinked.
"Hmm…. I can win with just one finger." He smiled.
"Really?"
"Really really." He nodded. "Then, one day. Some old geezers came to challenge him."
"Who are the old geezers?" I asked.
"Annoying people." He answered.
"Oh."
"So, the old geezers challenged him and lost miserably. The end." He grinned.
"So fast." I pouted.
"It's time to sleep." Satoru slipped into the bed too. I quickly snuggle to him and out like a feather. ~"~
A year later
I am running on the street, searching for a familiar curse energy. I feel it just now, so he won't be far. "Suguru!" I yelled. "SUGURU!" I yelled out loudly. Finally the said stops moving and turns around to face me. "Don't go, Suguru." I cried.
"I can't. I have lost faith in humanity." He smiled sadly.
"Then, why are you so sad? You don't want to go, right? Then don't go! Stay with us!" I cried not caring how ugly my appearance was.
He shakes his head. "I am sad maybe because I won't be seeing you ordering Satoru around." He patted my head.
"Please don't go. I will work harder, I won't slack off anymore. I will cut my sweet. I will properly sleep in my bed. Hic...don't go...hic."
"If you do that, Satoru will be lonely." He sighed helplessly. "Please stay with him, okay." He smiled
"Su...gu..ru…" As soon as he touched my forehead, I felt sleepy. 'No...I can't…'
Suguru catches the unconscious girl. He brings her to the nearest park, takes a photo and sends it to Satoru. After that, he leaves some of the cursed spirit to guard her.
Satoru, just as he has received the picture from an unknown number, quickly teleports to the park. Fortunately [Name] is unharmed. "Don't...go...Suguru…" A lone tear escaped her already tear-stained cheek. ~"~
~Few years later~
[Name] 15 years old
Gojo Satoru 26 years old.
This happened before my promotion to a semi-second grade sorcerer. I was staying over in Satoru's house because Mama is out for vacation.
"Breakfast is ready." A cheerful voice said.
"Good morning, Satoru." I rubbed my sleepy eyes.
"Good morning, [Name]-chan. I have made your favourite." He grinned. Satoru is wearing a casual black long-sleeved shirt and white slacks. His sunglasses perched on top of his nose bridge.
On the table two plates of omurice are placed, complete with the tableware and two glasses of milk.
"Go get freshen up before the breakfast goes cold." He ushered me to the bathroom.
"Ummm…." I nodded.
After breakfast, we are just lounging around in the living room. Watching horror movies. No matter how terrifying they made the ghost, it doesn't phase me a bit. I have been meeting a lot of curses in any shape. This one that is shaped like a human seems more human.
"[Name]-chan." Satoru called.
"Hm?"
"Why are you not scared?" He asked.
"...Because it's not scary…?" I tilted my head.
"...But, this movie guarantees that everyone will be scared if they watch it" He pouted.
"Then, Satoru, why are you not scared too?" I asked back.
"Because I am the strongest jujutsu sorcerer. Gojo Satoru." He smirked.
"Then, I am not scared because I am Gojo Satoru's owner." I said flatly.
"...the nickname seems stuck with you." He sweatdropped. "But, I like it." He grinned. "But, I like it more if you are scared and cling to me." He wrapped his arms around himself. "Kyaaa!!! Satoru, it's so scary." He said in a very disgusting high-pitched voice. "Don't worry, [Name]-chan. I am here." He said in his voice again.
"..." I looked at him for a while and ignored him, focusing my attention on tv.
"[Name]-chan has become so cold." He fake-cried. "Where is my cute [Name]-chan that always clings to me and calls me Satoru."
….There's a reason why I act like this. This guy is unbelievably popular. Whether it's a little kid, teenager, career woman, married woman, even grandma will act like a girl with her first crush just by seeing his face.
And there's one time the commotion happened in my school. I think I was in 5th grade. That time he substitutes my mom coming to school. It's a parent-teacher conference. I still remember how happy I was, until this guy showed up without his blindfold. You can imagine the commotion he caused. Everyone, by everyone I mean everyone. From students to teachers to parents. They are ogling at him. He knew and enjoyed it.
And so, going home from school, I banned him from wearing his sunglasses when outside. He has to stick with a blindfold. At least, with blindfold, no one pays attention to him. In other words, it's just the jealousy of a hormonal teenager. But, there's no way I will tell him this.
"Satoru… you are creepy." I deadpanned.
"[Name]-chan." He whined.
"...So, you want me to act scared or not." I sighed.
A wide grin with his hands stretched out is the answer. ~"~
Right before summer vacation, the whole class is going to do a test of courage. You know this is some kind of matchmaking. They will choose some of that was not scary at all. Pair the class into girl boy pairing and they have to walk around the designated perimeter together with just one flashlight. The scared girl will cling to the boy, and the boy will assure her they will be alright. What a scam.
They have agreed to meet in the old school building entrance tonight. "Will something pop out there?" Yae asked.
"Old school building? I have long exorcised the curse spirit over there." I answered.
"As expected from onmyouji. So, what progress have you made with your 'Satoru'?" Yae teased.
"...There's no progress to report. He is older than me, like what? 11 years." I sighed.
"But, you like him right? As in you want him to ravish-"
“Let’s stop before our conversation steered away to unknown territory.” I cut her off. “Besides, that’s not love. It’s called lust.” I mumbled, cheeks tinted pink, because my mind dangerously hovered on a certain image she said.
"You think I am 3 years old?" She rolled her eyes. "Love and lust are always together. Love is just more glorified than lust. Because if you love someone then you want everything they are physically and spiritually. While lust might be because they like one or more aspects they have."
"Yae… how come you know this?" I blinked.
"Anime and movies are the source. Unlike you who only watch horror genre and can even laugh at it." She snorted.
"Well, it can't be helped because it's not scary. Their movements are funny too. Cursed spirits don't move like that. They-"
"So, do you like him or not?" She asked.
"...of course I like him." I mumbled. "But, I am sure to him I was just a little sister." I said.
"Did he tell you that?" Yae asked.
"Umm...Few times when I was in grade school?" I blinked.
"That is hardly a proof. I mean, if he showed interest when you were a grade schooler, doesn't that make him a dangerous person?" Yae snorted.
"Well… I can't deny that." I nodded.
"Besides, it's just an 11 years age gap. Did you forget there was a time when a 40 something old man married an 18 something girl. That's what we call a cradle robber." Yae raised her brow.
"It was in the past…" I mumbled.
"Not really. There are some cases like this too right now. Well, all you need is to wait until you are 18 and then eat him in one swoop." Yae grinned.
"I...am not going to eat him. By the time I am 18, he might already have a girlfriend or wife." I grumbled.
"....with that kind of personality? I don't think so. I think only you can handle him. Or at least he is tamer with you." Yae smirked.
"Don't talk like he is some kind of pet." I sweatdropped.
"Oh, but he is. You are his owner. You do know your nickname on going in those circles, don't you?" Yae laughed. She is enjoying this.
"...Gojo Satoru's owner…"
"Yep. You should use that to your advantage." Yae giggled.
"...How should I use it?" I tilted my head.
"...Think for yourself." Yae rolled her eyes.
"Eehhh?"
"So, are you coming for the test of courage?" Yae asked.
"No. I have a job tonight. Nothing dangerous will happen there." I shook my head.
"Then, I am coming with you." Yae said.
"Hm? You are not going with them?" I blinked.
"What's the point? Megumi is not there." Yae rolled her eyes.
"Megumi is in a different school though." I sweatdropped.
"That's why I don't want to go. I'd rather watch you exorcise cursed spirits." Yae reasoned.
*Bzzzz* My phone vibrated. I fish out my phone from my skirt's pocket and see a notification from Satoru. I open his message.
"Tonight, Megumi will go with you. (ノ≧ڡ≦) Teehee~!"
"I see…"
"What's wrong?"
"Megumi will come with me tonight." I threw my phone to her, so she can see the message.
"Coming with you is really a good idea." Yae giggled. “I will tell class rep we won’t be participating.” She smiled.
This girl will do anything just to see Megumi. Her infatuation is really something. Megumi… I think he might have a crush on her too. And Yae is good at playing pull and push with Megumi. I am sure Megumi has no idea about this. Truly, a copy of Satoru. Sometimes I wonder if they are related to each other.
Who would've ever thought that sweet Yae grew up to be like this. I sigh, this is Satoru's fault. I heard their conversation when I was in 6th grade. Satoru was teaching this girl how to attract Megumi. The content of the conversation is so scary that I ran straight to Megumi's temporary room and told him not to grow up like Satoru.
10 o'clock. Yae, Megumi and I are in front of the cursed building. "Megumi, here. I made too much. Eat them later with Tsumiki-san." Yae dropped a small pouch of cookies on Megumi's palm.
"Thank you very much." Megumi said.
'It's definitely a lie. She must have made it just now.' I sweatdropped. I sigh, "Megumi, let's get this finished quickly and eat some ice cream." I called the younger boy.
"...We have no supervisor? What about Gojo-sensei?" Megumi blinked.
"Our supervisor for today is Ijichi-san. As for Satoru, he said he has business."
"No can do, [Name]-san. You shouldn't allow your pet to roam without you." Megumi said flatly.
"....He's not a pet though…" I sighed.
"But, you are his owner. Please control him." Megumi said.
"...Shut up… talk later. Let's finish this quickly." I huffed.
"Then, I will lower the curtain." Ijichi-san said as he made a hand seal. After the curtain is lowered, we enter the building.
Megumi summons his Gyokuken (Divine Dog) a pair of black and white dogs, while I summon a shikigami, Tanro, a Honshu wolf. "[Name]-san, I will take this one. So, you take the other one." Megumi said.
"Okay. Call me if you need anything." I nodded as I mounted Tanro. I quickly arrived at the second cursed spirit's location and easily dispatched it. This building was haunted by some 4th grade cursed spirit. The weakest one in the hierarchy.
The mission is over quickly, dispatching some 4th grade cursed spirits are hardly what we call a mission. This is more to let us accumulate experience.
"It's over." I stretched my hands up as we exited the building. "Ijichi-san. You can raise the curtains. We have finished." I told the older male.
"Thank you for your hard work." Ijichi-san smiled.
"No problem. Megumi, we are going for ice cream. Will you come with us?" I asked.
"...Sorry. I still have homework to do and Tsumiki will get mad if I stay out late." Megumi said. Yae's smile drops considerably. "Maybe next time. I will definitely join next time." Megumi said.
"Okay. You promised." Yae smiled.
'Ah, the push and pull.'
In the end, only the two of us are having ice cream. "Why don't you call Satoru-san?" Yae scooped her parfait.
"He won't be back until morning it seems." I showed her the message.
"I'll be back late. ʕっ•ᴥ•ʔっ"
"We should go home too, after finishing this." I gazed at the window.
"Can't wait to sleep in his bed?" Yae smirked.
"...I sleep on my bed. I have my own room."
"You can use this chance to sleep on his bed." Come the suggestion. "You guys are used to sleeping together anyway. I am sure he won't mind."
"That was in grade school. I...am not a child anymore." I mumbled, a slight blush coating my cheeks.
"The question is whether you want to or not."
"I...want to…" I muttered softly.
"Then, easy, just do it. You used to do whatever you want anyway." Yae sighed.
"I know… it's just…" I remember the words that that woman said to me.
"I pity him. He has to babysit you so much he can't even have time for himself."
I was so angry at that time. But, now I think about it, she is right. Almost 24/7 I stay with him. Satoru might not say anything. But, maybe because he's afraid of hurting me.
"So, what happened exactly?" Yae sighed.
"Yae… you remember I told you about that woman I saw with Satoru, right?" I opened my mouth to speak.
"Ah. I remember you told me about an old hag hanging around him. Yep. I remember." She nodded.
"You see… that woman told me…" I recounted the tale and the words she said to me.
"I see. What a load of bullshit." Yae deadpanned. "And, you are an idiot too, for falling for her words." Yae flicked my forehead.
"Ittai." I rubbed the sore spot.
"That woman probably just wants to get to his pants. But, was rejected. And she shifted the blame to you. Don't worry much about what other people think. Just think about what you want to do." Yae said.
"What I want...to do…"
"If you keep pushing him away, he might really go away. Satoru-san's personality is unrestrained. He might slip away. Do you want it to happen?"
"I don't want to!" I answered quickly.
"Then, you know what you should do, right?"
"Be more honest with what I want." I nodded.
"Good. You have the entire summer vacation to do it. You are going to Jujutsu high anyway." She smiled.
"Yeah. Thanks Yae." I smiled gratefully at my best friend.
"Of course. You owe me a cake from Sweets Bakery." She said.
"No worry. I will buy it." I laughed. The two of us share a laugh.
*Bzzzz bzzzz*
My phone vibrated signalling an incoming call. "Moshi moshi, [Name] here."
"[Name], where are you right now?" Hinako's voice transmitted to my ears.
"We are eating ice cream at Kinoko's family restaurant." I answered.
"Can you come to sanchoume. We are having kimodameshi here…" She said.
"What?! Aren't you guys in the old school building?" I frowned.
"The thing is, Yuriko told them about this abandoned building in sanchoume. They said it seemed interesting and changed their location. Now they are inside and haven't come out yet. It's almost an hour." Hinako cried. "You are an onmyouji, right? I remember you were the one who help us back then. Please help." She pleaded.
"...Listen. Don't let the others enter the building, okay. Not even to search. I will be there soon." I hung up.
"What's wrong?" Yae asked.
"Those idiots went to an abandoned house in sanchoume. Hinako said some of them have gone inside and haven't come back. I will go and check on them." I grumbled. "I will smack them so hard after I rescue them." An annoyed tick appeared on my forehead.
I put on my jacket and speed dial Satoru's number. "Moshi moshi, my cute [Name]-chan. Have you finished your mission?" Satoru's playful voice came through the phone.
"Satoru. There's an emergency. Idiots from my class have gone to an abandoned house in sanchoume for kimodameshi. Cursed spirits might be there. I will go there right now."
"Is Megumi with you?"
"Megumi has gone home. We have finished our mission. Right now it's only Yae and I."
"Understood. I will take some time to arrive. Don't do anything dangerous." He said seriously.
"I know." I hung up and sped through the street. I want to use Tanro, but this will shock people, so I can only use my feet.
Time like this is how I envied Satoru. He can teleport and fly in the air. Arriving there, I can see Hinako is trying to block them from entering.
"Hinako!" I called.
"[Name]. You are here." She smiled in relief.
"So, who is inside?" I asked without beating the bush.
"Yuriko, Mio, Higashi-kun and Takeuchi-kun." She listed out the most troublesome people in our class.
"Tsk. Stupid idiots. I hope they are still alive so I can smack them so hard they will fly back to their house." I grumbled.
"Please save them, [Name]." She pleaded.
"I will. As long as they are still alive." I said grimly. The stench is too much, my nose scrunched up in disgust. 'This might a first grade.' I gulped. I have only ever fought with second grade and that was under Satoru's supervision. 'Fine. Bring it on. If I keep being like this. I won't be a first grade onmyouji/sorcerer.'
I step into the house. "Tanro." I called for my shikigami. "Let's locate the human scent first. Can you do it?"
"Awooo." He howled. Tanro then speeds through the building. Tanro stops in one of the rooms. "Awoooo!" He howled.
It seems like they are here. "Tanro, bust open the door." I commanded. With a roar Tanro tears open the metal door.
"Hiii!!!"
"Kyaaaa!!!"
The screams from inside the room prove that they are still alive. "Hi-Hisaki…?" Takeuchi-kun lowered his trembling hands with a pole.
"Wh...what are you riding?"
"Kyaaa! A monster!!!" Yuriko screamed.
"I will smack you all later. For now, let's get out of here." I dismounted Tanro.
"Be-behind you!!"
The cursed spirit is blocked by Rokuson. Another shikigami I have called. A deer. "Bukyoku." I called another one. This time it's a samurai.
"[Name]-sama." He greeted me.
"Tanro, Rokuson, take them out. Bukyoku, we will hold it here." I commanded.
"Yes!" Bukyoku charged to the cursed spirit, which I am certain is a first grade. "Bind." I made a hand seal, glowing light warped around its neck and limbs, sealing its movement. Tanro and Rokuson crash the windows in this room to get outside. The easiest method.
"Ki...kikiki!!!" The cursed spirit gets angry. The room distorts and suddenly all exits are blocked. The binding spell has been broken.
"Domain expansion… this is bad…" A bead of sweat rolled down my temple.
"Kikikikiki!" It sounded like he was having fun.
"Sorry, but I am the hunter and you are the prey." I glared at it. "Rentei!" Another shikigami, this time a koi fish shikigami. "Transform." Rentei transformed into a katana, Nenekirimaru. "Bukyoku!"
"Ha!" Bukyoku and I took a swing at it. I am actually more of a supporting role, as my sealing and binding technique are much in higher level than my almost non-existence offensive technique. That's why I use Shikigamis. But, my supportive skills are weakened in this domain. My sword skill is really average. So, I didn't actually do much damage to it.
Bukyoku falls down to his knees. I can't call back Rokuson and Tanro because being blocked by its domain. The only way to counter domain expansion is to make my own.
I have tried a few times, but I always fail. This time… if I fail I will definitely die. "I won't die. I promised Suguru that I will stay by Satoru's side. Besides, as his owner, I can't die easily."
I released Rentei and made a hand seal. Chains start coming out from every direction, chaining the cursed spirit.
"Domain expansion, Shikigami no Hyakki Yako." In an instant the space around me changed shape again. This time, it's almost like a giant shrine. We are standing right on the Torii gate. The shrine's door opened. White mists spread out from the door, and something no, human skeletons fly out from the door, each skeleton wearing an onmyouji garb and forming a circle, trapping the cursed spirit.
"Harai tamae kiyome tamae, kyu kyu nyo ritsu yo." The skeleton shikigamis made a hand seal. Another layer of binding spell is casted. Sphere of lights concentrated above the cursed spirit, it took a shape of a giant spear. The light spear pierce down the cursed spirit and completely annihilate it.
Completely spent, my domain vanished, I can't even maintain Bukyoku. "Haa...haa...haa…" I panted. "I will become stronger. Strong enough so Satoru won't worry about me." My legs gave out due to exhaustion.
"Otto. Worrying about you is my job, [Name]-chan. No matter how strong you are, I won't stop worrying." Smell of Wisteria flooded my nose.
"I did it. Domain expansion." I gave him a weak smile.
"I know. You did a good job." He smiled, unlike the usual teasing or mocking smile. He gave me a genuine smile. A smile reserved only for me. "But, next time please exorcise it without injuring yourself." He said.
"...I am going to ignore you for the rest of the week, Satoru." I grumbled.
"Eeehhh~." Satoru whined.
Satoru gives me a piggyback ride. "[Name], are you alright?" Yae asked worriedly.
"....Except exhaustion, I am fine." I smiled weakly.
"Hisaki, are you alright? Did that monster get you?"
"I won't be here if it got me, idiot." I rolled my eyes.
"Hisaki, that was so cool. What was that deer and that wolf? Call them one more time."
"Hisaki."
"Hisaki."
They keep calling me, it's annoying. "Hai~" Satoru called out. "[Name]-chan is tired right now. So, no more questions." Satoru smiled.
"Hey, why are you wearing a blindfold?"
"Don't tell me he is your boyfriend. A blindfold? Is he blind? Lame."
"...Satoru, don't you dare lower your blindfold, or I am really going to ignore you." I muttered.
"Oya, don't tell me my cute [Name]-chan is jealous." He teased me. He knew exactly what my reaction would be. It usually will be, "I just don't want to handle another commotion. You stupid idiot." With deadpanned eyes and slightly blushing cheeks.
But, this time I promised I will be more honest with myself. "Un. I will be jealous. you are not allowed to look at other girls or women without your blindfold. No sunglasses too." I mumbled softly, just soft enough for him to hear.
It's only for a split second, but I feel his whole body freeze by my unexpected reply. "And don't add -chan to my name anymore." I jumped down from his back.
"I promise I will smack you guys. So, which idiot changed the location?" I looked at them.
All of them start looking at each other. Cearly no one wants to say anything. "You guys are lucky I am nearby. What if something happens to you guys? Think what your parents would think if you guys died earlier than them."
"You...You are an onmyouji, right? Then you have the duty to protect us." Yanagawa Yuriko stuttered.
"I-"
"We saved people who accidentally caught up in this mess. But, we are not obliged to save someone who courts death." Satoru said.
"H-Hmph. This is not your business, blindfold guy."
"Oh, this is my business. As an adult, I have the authority to report a group of kids who trespassed a forbidden entry building." Satoru flashed a smile as he showed them the number he called. 110
Their faces went pale. "Oi, you kids! what are you doing here? This is a forbidden entry building!" Local polices have come.
In the end, except for Yae and I. They are all being questioned by the police and writing an apology statement. After that, they are allowed to leave.~"~
Outside police box
"So… what advice did you give to her? She has become much more honest." Satoru looked at the girl beside him.
"I just told her to be more honest to herself or else you will slip away." Yae grinned as she looked at the newest picture of Megumi.
"Is that so? She was cute before. Right now, she has become cuter. What should I do?" He grinned.
"Well, I did manage to get from her, why she is not as clingy as she was as a kid." Yae put her phone in her pocket.
"Oh? Do tell me. I will get Megumi's sleeping face for you." He grinned. He knows of her infatuation with Megumi.
"Deal!" Yae exclaimed happily. "So, do you remember which woman that hung around you when we were in 6th grade? Apparently that woman told [Name] she was pitying you, because you will have to babysit her every time and hardly have time for yourself."
"A woman….?...Too many unimportant people hang around me."
"So, I told her it was just that woman's bullshit. She was definitely being rejected by you when she was trying to get into your pants and she doesn't need to care what other people are thinking, but what she wants."
"So, that woman was the reason. If not for her, then [Name] and I will be much closer already." Satoru whined.
"You are calling her without -chan. Why didn't you do it when you were calling for her?" Yae blinked.
"It's an adult's circumstances." He flashed a smile.
"....At least, wait for her until she is in legal age, okay." Yae sighed.
"Will try." ~"~
"Sorry for the wait." I exited the police box. The policewoman was kind enough to clean and bandage my wounds. Even though most of them are just scratches.
"It's almost 1 o'clock in the morning. What will you do?" Satoru asked Yae.
"I will sleepover in [Name]'s house." Yae yawned.
"I don't mind. Let's go." I smiled.
They start walking, but I still root on the spot. "[Name]-chan?" Satoru called.
"I can't walk. My legs hurt. Piggyback." I held out my hands.
Satoru grins widely. With a few large strides, he kneels down showing his back to me. His arms are around my knees and my hands loop around his neck. Smell of wisteria is flooding my senses. I start feeling sleepy. "Satoru…" I called.
"Hm?"
"I am not bothering you, right? ...You won't be angry if I am clingy, right?" My eyelids are starting to drop.
"Silly [Name]. I like it when you bother and cling to me." He laughed.
"I see… then,...I am...glad." I fell asleep as soon as I got it out of my mouth. ~"~
The whole month passes away in blur. Yae and I spent my whole summer break in Jujutsu High, just like every other year in the past. And I have been promoted to semi-second grade sorcerer by Shoko. Satoru celebrated it by buying sweets. Which is welcomed by us.
Now back to school. The rumour that I am an onmyouji has spread. Everyone will stare at me like I am some kind of rare animal in a zoo. And a lot of pointless requests flood in. 'I feel like I am haunted' or 'the hair of a Japanese doll in my house is getting longer' this kind of thing. In short, nothing is associated with cursed spirits.
Unlike when I was in school grader, where I was being driven to Jujutsu High after school. I was deemed good enough to live at my house again at the start of my middle school. So, no more Ijichi-san after school to escape from this rowdy crowd.
Hinako, Mikan and Sera started having lunch with Yae and I again after the whole kimodameshi fiasco. "[Name]-chan. That blindfold guy… don't tell me, is he the one that helped us in grade school?" Hinako asked.
"...I don't really remember that whole incident. But, I remember a pair of very handsome blue eyed onii-chan and black eyed onii-chan at that time." Sera said.
"Yes. That blindfold guy is the one from our grade school incident." Yae nodded.
"...Huh? Wait a moment. Was he your neighbour onii-chan back then? The one who Hinako called a liar?" Sera blinked.
"Correct." Yae nodded.
"....Was he also the one that came to your parent-teacher conference that time?" Hinako asked excitedly.
"Ah, yes. The very same." Yae nodded happily.
"...Why is Yae-chan the one answered?" Mikan sweatdropped.
I have long dropped into an annoyed mood. "How come this guy still causes trouble without him being here?" I grumbled.
"But, why is he wearing a blindfold? Did he have an accident?" Mikan frowned.
"Nope. He is wearing it for personal reasons." Yae laughed as she sneaked a glance to me. The rest of the girls are also shift their line sight to me, who is chomping on lunch, looking like someone ready to murder a certain someone.
*Bzzzz bzzz*
My phone vibrates, I frown as I unlock my phone. "❤ (ɔˆз(ˆ⌣ˆc)"
My phone vibrates again before I could type an answer. A familiar playful voice comes out from the phone. "[Name]-chan, I want a ki-"
"Satoru, as I thought, I am going to ignore you for the rest of the week.” I sulked.
“Eeeehhh? [Name]-chan~ don’t be so mean.” He whined.
“If you behave well, I will act scared when we watch horror movie."
"Roger. I am always well behaved." I can hear his grin from here.
"Is that so? Then, why are you still causing trouble without being here?" I raised my brows.
"It's because I am the most handsome Jujutsu sorcerer, Gojo Sa-"
"I am going to hang up."
"Wait! [Name]-chan. Don't be hasty."
"I am eating lunch."
"Aw, Is my cute [Name]-chan jealous again?"
“Geee….” The rest of the girls are staring at me.
"Yes. I am jealous. You do remember when you were in high school, you attracted a lot of people, from little girls, teenagers, carrier women, married women, and grannies. That's why I told you to wear your blindfold." I mumbled softly, so they won’t hear.
"Okay, [Name]-chan. I will behave really well. I will buy a lot of sweets for the movie night. Rather, I am going to buy them now. See you later." He hung up, I could clearly hear his proud big grin from here.
"Pffft." Yae trembled in laughter while the other three looked dumbfounded.
"Shut up." I chomped on my lunch, trying to ignore the burning feeling on my cheeks.
"[Name], what kind of kinky play you did?" Yae asked amused
"We are not doing some kinky play. We are just going to watch a movie." I retorted.
"...Why need to act scared? To you, a horror movie is something like comedy though." Yae raised her brows.
"If I don't do it. He won't stop doing some disgusting high-pitched voice." I replied.
"[Name]-chan, is he your boyfriend?" Sera asked.
"Soon to be. Well, they practically are. Just waiting to be labelled." Yae mused.
"So,[Name]-chan. Which part do you like from him?" They grinned slyly.
"I...don't want to answer." I dodged the question.
"Ehhh? You are no fun." Hinako pouted.
“Then, is that why he is wearing blindfold? Because [Name]-chan is jealous?” Mikan asked excitedly.
“Half of the reason. The other half is because his eyes are sensitive to light.” Yae conjured the lie.
“Well, I will be jealous too if he is handsome like that. I don’t want anyone look at him too.” Hinako said.
“Tell us your love story.” Sera exclaimed.
“No.” I refused.~"~
So, the graduation day has arrived. After receiving our diploma. We are at the school entrance, taking a picture with friends and family members. I have already decided to go to Jujutsu High, Yae and Hinako are going to the same school. Sera and Mikan are going to an all-girls school. We promised to hang out if we have time. Yae promised to spend all her school break in Jujutsu High, just for Megumi apparently.
Some of us (read: Yae) have received flowers from our juniors, and confessions from junior or classmates alike. Yae shot down everyone that confessed to her. "Yae-san, [Name]-san. Congratulations on your graduation." Megumi said as he handed us small bouquet of flowers.
"Thank you, Megumi." I smiled.
"Thank you, Megumi." Yae shot him a brilliant smile.
"By the way, [Name]-san, you are going to Jujutsu High, right?"
"Yes." I nodded. "Megumi also will be going there after you graduate middle school, right?"
"Yes. I plan to. By the way, [Name]-san, please put a leash on Gojo-sensei. He's annoying." Megumi deadpanned.
"....He is not a pet. But it's true he is annoying." I said.
"Hisaki-san!!" Someone called out.
I blink as someone I don't recognize is walking to me nervously. He is holding a diploma, that means he is also a graduating student.
"Yes?"
"Please go out with me!!" He said, quite loudly I might add. Might be due to nervousness, because his whole face and neck are red. Now the whole students are staring at us. The chatters stop as if waiting one of us to speak.
“Accept him.” One of the students said, maybe his friends?
“Accept him. Accept him.” Soon, all of them are cheering. Yae looks like ready to murder someone. “You all-“ Megumi quickly grabbed Yae’s hand and shook his head. He secretly motioning his head to a newcomer.
"Sorry, I-" I was wrapped in wisteria scent as I was pulled back to a familiar embrace.
"Sorry. This girl is my wife to be. Can you back off?" a playful light-hearted voice said.
"Eh?" (Me)
"Ha?" (Megumi)
"Ara… how quick. Congrats, I am waiting for the wedding." (Yae)
"EEEEHHHHH????" The whole students.
I tilt my head up to look at him wearing sunglasses, paired with a long-sleeved white t-shirt and pair of black slacks. His collarbone obviously exposed with the top button unbuttoned, and to finish off, he wears a more fashionable shades. His obviously grinning mischievous blue eyes stare back at me. "...Didn't I tell you not to wear sunglasses?" I raised my brow.
"But, I am meeting my [Name]-chan. Not some other girls. I have to show off sometimes too. To scare some pests." He grinned slyly. His mischievous bright blue eyes peeked out from his glasses.
"...."
"Congrats on your graduation." He patted my head. "As for your graduation gift…” He bent down so his mouth is next to my ears. “It will be me." He whispered in my ear.
As expected, right now, the female population is exclaiming how hot he is and is speculating our relationships. Didn’t they say he was lame last year? The boy in front of me too is frozen like a statue.
"You are saying this now?” I frowned.
“Hm?” He blinked at my quite unexpected reply.
“…Satoru… Aren't you already mine from the start. I mean, I am Gojo Satoru's owner." My lips curled up to a smile.
His face broke into a grin. "...Indeed." He laughed gleefully. "As expected from my wife to be."
"...Since when?"
"Eeeh? Didn't you say you will marry me? I was waiting." He whined. "Satoru, when I grow up, I will be your bride." He made that disgusting high pitched voice again.
"Maki, do you hold playful cloud. Can I borrow it. I want to smack it to Satoru's face." I am already in phone with Maki.
"Send the picture to me later." Maki said.
"[Name]-chan. You are so mean." The overgrown child whined.
"....Please talk about this kind of thing in a private place." Megumi said.
"Megumi, you are here too?" Satoru grinned.
"I will seriously punch you." Megumi said. "[Name]-san. Please control your pet."
“Truth to be told, Satoru’s entrance is quite normal.” I said.
“Which part of him is normal?” Megumi deadpanned. “But, considering his personality, this is really count as normal.” Megumi nodded.
“What kind of entrance you are thinking he would make?” Yae asked.
I look at the overgrown man, who put his head on the top of my head, casually leaning his weight to mine. “Actually, considering his personality, I was thinking he will come in holding some kind of musical instrument bag and say something let’s go home [Name]-chan, today I will have you master “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” Something like that.” I said.
“I see. This is more convincing.” They nodded.
“By the way Satoru, you are heavy.” I tried to free my trapped body.
“Nope.” So, the four of us are talking like the usual, completely ignoring the looks we are getting. And I too, completely forgotten I haven’t replied to the boy who has confessed to me.
“I am sorry. I can’t accept your confession. There will be someone who is better match for you. The world we are living is different.” I bowed a little.
“Eh? Ah. Yes.” He replied absentmindedly, obviously still shocked.
“Yae, Megumi. Let’s go home.”
“I will celebrate with Megumi alone. Satoru-san looks like he wants to take you to somewhere important.” Yae snickered. “I will celebrate with you later.” She smiled. “Let’s go Megumi.” Yae dragged the blushing boy away.
"Let's go home, Satoru." I sighed, dragging him away. He shamelessly intertwined his much longer fingers to mine.
I might not want him to attract annoying people. But the sight of Yuriko's face is refreshing. My lips curl to a smile.
"Are you happy that the gift is me?" He smirked.
"...Satoru… I am going to ignore you the whole week."
"Don't forget your promise, [Name]-chan. Tonight is movie night." He giggled.
"....I will try to act scared." I sighed. “So, where do you want to take me to? How come Yae know it?”
“You will know when we arrived.” He answered in a sing song voice. After a series of twist and turn from branded boutique to make-up salon. We have arrived in our destination. A high-class restaurant.
“…Why are we here?” I blinked.
“To celebrate your graduation of course.” Satoru chuckled at my dumb question.
“I thought we are having a movie night?” I looked at him. Again, he is drawing attention. “Haa…” I sighed.
“Don’t worry [Name]-chan, we are in private room.” He laughed as if he knew what was I thinking. I bet he knew.
We are guided to the private room. No, rather than private room, it’s more like a back garden. My eyes lit up, I take a few steps ahead. The garden is decorated beautifully. It feels like I step into some kind other realm. “You like it?”
“Yes.” I nodded, a delightful smile plastered on my face.
“That’s good.” we were seated in the middle of the garden. “You told me once you want to have dinner like this.” A cheshire cat grin on his face.
“I did?” I titled my head.
“Yep, you did.” He nodded.
“….” Who is this mature Satoru? I look at him blankly. “Satoru, did you eat wrong medicine today? Are you sick? Or perhaps you were cursed by cursed spirits?”
“How mean~. I am purrfectly fine. There’s no way I am cursed. I am the strongest. I just want to congrats my cute [Name]-chan for graduating middle school.” He pouted. His maturity has disappeared somewhere in the void.
“Thanks, Satoru.” I giggled. ~"~

Gojo Satoru 27years old
Geto Suguru 26 years old
"What… Did you say…?" I looked at the Masamichi sensei.
"Suguru is discovered near here and Satoru has gone to hunt him down." Sensei said one more time.
"...Satoru is hunting who…?" The world seems distorted. I put my hand on the table to steady myself. "No…" I whispered. I don't want them to fight. I don't want them to get hurt.
Few years after the incident of a star plasma vessel and the masacre in a small village. I understood why Suguru is doing this. Even so, I just don't want them to fight. Why… Why can we be together again? Just like that time. Before everything spiralled out of control.
I run out from the school. "Ijichi-san, take me to Suguru's location."
"I...am not sure where he is…"
"Then, just take me to the downtown." I said urgently. And to the downtown it is. I exit the car and start running. To where? I don't even know myself.
I don't know how long I ran. My feet seemed to bring me back to Satoru's house after aimlessly running on the street. "Satoru!" I threw open the door.
I panted as I tried to calm myself down. Satoru has just come out from shower judging by the wet hair and towel on his head. I ram myself to him, arms wrapping around his waist.
"What's wrong, [Name]-chan?" He patted my head. The usual Satoru will start teasing how much I miss him. The usual Satoru will grin and smirk at the sight of me coming to his house. The usual Satoru will… my body trembles, the tears I have been holding start flowing down, wetting his shirt. "Why are you crying again, hm?" His voice is getting softer.
"Because...hic...It's because… you didn't cry. Hic...so, I will cry… in your stead. Hic…" I hiccuped.
"...Thank you… for crying for me…"~"~
After a bout of crying, I freshen up in the shower. Even though we are neighbours, I think I spent a lot of time in Satoru's house. Half of my things are in the house. And no, we didn't sleep in the same bed anymore. I have my own room. So, the guest room became my permanent room.
"Let me dry your hair." Satoru grinned as I stepped into the living room. I sit on the couch, between his legs as he starts working his magic. Drying my hair.
The sound of the hairdryer died down. A pair of long arms wrapped around my shoulders. "Satoru…?"
"...Let me stay like this for a while… I will be back like the usual Gojo Satoru tomorrow. So… let's just stay like this for a while." Satoru murmured. His voice sounds so...broken. I have also noticed some tremble from his voice and his hands.
"Okay…"~"~
Gojo Satoru knew that Geto Suguru was lying. He knew it yet his hand shot through his friend's chest before he could stop it.
"If you didn't finish me now. The next target will be [Name]-chan. She has grown, hasn't she? The last descendant of Keikain onmyouji. I am sure she will be a great asset. At least her spiritual power is." Suguru sneered.
At that time Satoru only saw red, he must kill Suguru before he could do anything to her. And so, when he came to his hand has shot through his former partner's chest.
Suguru slump on his shoulder. "Listen well...Satoru… Protect [Name]…. As she grows up...her power...will attract...a lot of...trouble… Some...disgusting...old farts...higher ups… also consider her...to bear some...children…for them… Don't...ever let...them...lay hand...on her…. Or...I'll...come back….as cursed spirit...to haunt...you…"
"I promise… I won't let them lay hands on her...ever."
"That's...good...I'll...be...going….first...partner…" Geto Suguru breathed his last.~"~
[Name] 17 years old
Gojo Satoru 28 years old
I sit on bed, frowning. I have a feeling something really bad will happen soon. It makes me feel restless and anxious. "[Na~me]-chan. What are you thinking about?" Satoru poked my forehead.
"No...it's just I feel so uneasy and restless these days. I just have a feeling something bad will happen. I feel like I won't see you anymore." I bit my lips.
"I am not going anywhere." He sat down beside me and pulled me to his lap. His sunglasses are gone. "Even if by chance I go somewhere, I'll definitely be back to your side." He pressed a kiss to my forehead.
"...Aren't you supposed to say you are going to take me along." I pouted.
"Well, I can't take you along if I am going somewhere dangerous." He laughed.
"Hearing this from you makes me mad." I huffed.
"Eeehhh?"
"Because it feels like you are saying, I am weak." I mumbled.
"Well, you are weaker than me." He grinned. In retaliation, I pound his chest, which only serves him to laugh harder.
"But, I will certainly be back to your side. This is a promise and I am not lying. You do know I will never lie to you." He flashed me his cocky smirk.
"I know. I just don't like it if something were to happen to you." I rested my head on his broad shoulder.
"Nothing will happen to me. I am the strongest jujutsu sorcerer, Gojo Satoru." He laughed, his arm slipped under my shirt and was resting on my bare stomach.
"What are you doing, Satoru?"
"The mood is perfect." He grinned. His bright blue eyes are sparkling with mischief. "I have endured well all these years. So, I think it's time I get my reward, don't you think so?"
"Then...close your eyes." I muttered shyly.
"...." Satoru only looked at me with amusement.
"I know your six eyes will see everything, but just close your eyes." I grumbled.
"You do know that's a really pointless request. Since I can see anything, why not let me see." His smirk is back.
"S-shut up! Just close your eyes." I stuttered. My face is all red. I don't need a mirror to know.
"Okay." He relented and closed his eyes anyway.
For a good pointless measure, I cover his closed eyes with my palm and press a quick kiss to his lips.
"Y...you can open your eyes now." I stuttered. I am fidgeting right now. My eyes averted his.
"That was quite a different reward than what I had in mind. Surely, you have thought this much wouldn't satisfy me, [Name]."
When Satoru called me without any honorifics, it sent shivers down my spine, in a lot of ways. I know he wouldn't be satisfied. But, I am afraid… what if my body shape is not to his liking, what if my breasts are too small. I become self conscious. I am still wearing clothes, but I feel like I am already stark naked under his eyes. Is this some kind of Six Eyes special ability too?
"You are worrying about strange things again, aren't you? Don't think about anything else. Just think about me."
Without any warning, his lips crash down to mine. Eagerly devouring and claiming what is his. His slick tongue forced my cavern to open. "!!!" Without wasting any chance, he slipped into my mouth. "....nnn…" His slick muscle explore everything he can touch.
His scent, the familiar wisteria scent flooded all my senses. It makes my senses go into overdrive. I can't see, feel or smell anything except for him. I feel like drowning in his essence. My hands clench to a fists, grasping his clothes in my hand, making wrinkles on his perfectly ironed shirt. I stopped breathing some time ago, and now my brain is in need of oxygen. My hands are pushing him away to let me breathe.
"Breath through your nose, [Name]." He separated our lips to say that before he went back devouring it. His thumb is caressing my stomach, while the other is firmly around my waist, preventing me from escaping.
After what seemed like eternity, the kiss ceased. I pant for the much needed oxygen. My eyes watery and hot blush is coating my cheeks. The silvery string of broken saliva is the only evidence of that heated kiss, and the first evidence of many to come.
"Satoru…" I panted. My own pink muscle lolled out for him. I can clearly see every emotion he holds for me. Desire, lust, possessiveness, greed, gentleness and the glorified love. He wants to drown me in his essence and he will. "Satoru…"
"Hm?" His hand came up to hold my face. Thumb swiping my swollen lips.
"...please, be gentle with me."
And….I unknowingly set off the caged beast inside him.
Omake
How is the movie night is actually going.
First half of the story.
“Sa-Satoru, I am scared!” I clung to his arm tightly. We are sitting on the couch with sweets littered on the coffee table.
“Don’t worry, [Name]-chan. It’s not scary at all. You see, the protagonist will be stabbed by the ghost.” He grinned fully enjoying this,”
“Why are you spoiling the story?” I hit his arm.
Second half of the story.
“Satoru, will the ghost die or the heroine die?” I asked as I munched a pocky stick. Our position has changed. Somehow, I am now sitting between his legs, still on the couch.
“They will die together.” He grabbed my hand with pocky stick and moved it to his mouth.
“Satoru, take your own sweets.” I rolled my eyes.
Credits rolling.
I have fallen asleep in that position, not caring how the story ended or post credit scene. One good thing about Satoru is he is nice makeshift pillow. I vaguely heard a good night and a forehead kiss, before I completely fallen to deep sleep.

“...and even now, I think about him and his fucking hands.”
“Baby Girl,” pinned to the wall right next to the entrance of his house you ask yourself if it was the right decision to cave in once again. “Fuck, I’ve missed you so much, missed this pussy.”
“Cord,” while Cordell grips your ass tighter to pump up into you like a madman, you try to hold tight onto his shoulders. “Maybe we should go to the bedroom. What if someone sees us?”
“The kids are at my parent’s place,” he buries his face in your neck, groans deeply when you wrap your legs tighter around his waistline. “No one is going to disturb me while I destroy this cunt.”
“That’s not funny,” you pant, laughing when Cordell lifts his head to meet your eyes. “I don’t want anyone to see me—I mean, my naked ass.”
“Don’t worry, Y/N,” capturing your lips in a heated kiss Cordell takes your breath away. “No one is going to see you like this but me. No one.” He emphases his words with a particularly hard thrust. “But I can pin you to my bed later if you want me to.”
“Self-confident much, Mr. Walker,” you grin up at Cordell. “What if I will go after you made me cum?” he growls at your words, pushing even harder into you. He rocks your body, forces you to wrap your arms around his neck to hold tight onto him.
“I will use my handcuffs and keep you locked away in my bedroom. No more New York, no more leaving me,” he captures your lips in a hasty kiss, breathes praises and your name against your lips. “Baby girl,” he says breathlessly, “I’ve missed you so much.”
“I’ve missed your stubborn ass too,” he grabs your ass harder, holds you against the wall with all his strength. The muscles in his arms strain and fuck, the veins in his neck pop out, “and your dick.”
“Fuck, Cordell!” you whimper with every harsh thrust. “What has gotten into you?” round two at the bedroom is much rougher than before.
Your hands restrained to his headboard with his handcuffs, legs over his shoulders, and your ass in a tight grip he pumps into you.
“Look at you, all spread out for me,” he slams into you, mercilessly jerking his hips into yours. “You’ll never take another cock. I’m the only man you can fuck.”
“If you keep on going like that, you’ll destroy my pussy,” tugging at the handcuffs holding you to the headboard you groan. “I will have bruises when you are done.”
“I’ll mark this body with my cock, hands, and teeth. You will wear my marks with pride and tell everyone it was me fucking you good,” Cordell squeezes your ass tightly. He smirks darkly, knowing you are close to falling apart. “I want you to cum all over me.”
“I-I’m on it,” sweat runs down your body, your muscles ache, and to be honest, you feel like you ran a marathon. “After that round, I need a break.”
“Aw, is my baby girl tired?” the sound of your slicked cunt taking his cock in fills the room and you pray, no one can hear your desperate wails when he tilts his hips to brush over your g-spot. “You are meant to take my dick. I will never not fill this cunt.”
“I—” a strangled cry is all you give Cordell in return when your cunt tightens around his length. His balls tighten and you can feel his cum shoot into your abused sex. He groans your name, hips jerking uncontrollably to pump every droplet into you. “Fuck, did you forget a condom?”
“No—” he drops your legs to cover your body, lips claiming yours in a dirty kiss. “I’ll cum inside of you anytime I want to from now on. You’re my girl.”
“You made a mess,” sighing you look down your body. “I’m sweaty, sore and now my thighs and pussy are sticky too.”
“Felt so good,” Cordell buries his face in your neck, kissing your skin softly. “I’ve missed this, missed you. I’ll never let you go again.”
“Do you want to keep me here, restrained to your bed?” you challenge. “I’m not against having you on top of me, but you’re heavy and I need a shower.”
“Just a minute,” he opens the handcuffs, thumbs gently caressing your wrists. “How about we stay like this a few more minutes and I’ll clean you in the bathtub.”
“I thought—” you close your eyes when Cordell wraps his arms around your weak body. “Okay.” You don’t say what’s on your mind.
“I know you believed I want you to go now, Y/N,” kissing your neck again Cordell sighs. “I’m sorry, baby girl. I was a fool for letting you go. I should’ve begged you to stay with me. It’s just, I felt like the worst person ever for seducing my wife’s best friend.”
“Can we have that shower now?” you sniffle, hiding you felt guilty every time you had sex with Cordell.
“Just one more minute, Y/N,” he whispers against your skin. “Let me hold you for a while. I need this, need you.”
“That’s a great bathtub,” you stretch your legs, smirking when Cordell runs his large hands over your breasts. “No touching, Sir.”
“Hey, that’s my bathtub, lady. You jumped into my bathtub and settled between my legs. Now your back is pressed against my chest and your ass rubs against my dick. If I share my water with you, I want to touch your tits.”
“Jesus don’t tell me you are hard again,” leaning back against his chest you sigh. “I can’t go again. I will be sore as hell, Cordell.”
He slowly runs a loofah over your skin, wondering if he should tell you what weighs heavy on his heart. “Baby—no Y/N,” he clears his throat. “I wanted to tell you. No, I must tell you that you mean the world to me.”
“That was cheesy, Mr. Walker,” you close your eyes to relax in Cordell’s arms. “Maybe I like you too.”
“You’re a brat only to be a brat,” he grumbles behind you. “I—fuck, baby girl. This is hard. No, it’s easy but I’m awful at talking about feelings. You know I loved Emily with all my heart, and a part of my heart will always belong to her, but if you want to have the rest of my heart it’s yours.”
“Dude,” turning around in his embrace you lie on his chest. You grin up at Cordell, searching his face while you try to tame your wildly beating heart. “Did your dad write a speech for you?”
His cheeks turn pink, and you know, Bonham did write a speech for his son.
“What I tried to tell you is,” he hesitates, simply looks down at you on his chest. “I love you, baby girl.”
“I love you too, big dummy,” pressing your forehead into his shoulder you sigh. “But I can’t do this anymore. If you want to use my body and roll off seconds later to leave me alone in my cold bed, I’m out.”
“This is over, Y/N,” he whispers, ashamed he treated you badly. “Emily would be ashamed I treated her best friend as a warm body I can use to feel better. I promise to be a good partner, boyfriend, and lover from now on.”
“Y/N,” Stella grasps for your hand to drag you toward her grandparents’ house. “So, will you stay or go back to New York? Did dad apologize? Do you still like him? Wait, he held a speech right?”
“Stella, let the poor girl breathe,” Bonham chuckles. His eyes drift toward his son awkwardly stand behind you and his daughter. “Did you hold a speech, son?”
“He did the whole thing, Bonham. Next time, add roses and sweets,” you give Bonham a wink. “Now, what do we eat tonight?”
“I know what I’d like to eat,” Cordell whispers, eyes drifting toward you.
“What did you say, Cordell?” Abeline asks, searching her son’s face. “We are having your favorite. Come in and help me prepare the dishes…”
“I have to announce something,” Cordell suddenly gets up from his chair to look around the table. “I’m glad everyone is here tonight. Firstly, I need to make sure you all know I will always love Emily, my wife,” he looks at his parents, nodding at his father, “and the mother of my children,” his eyes drift toward Stella and August. He sniffs, wiping his nose with the sleeve of his shirt.
“Dad, what’s wrong? Did something happen?” Stella asks, watching you squirm on your seat. “Please stop making me nervous.”
“I—you see,” your partner grasps for your hand to squeeze it tightly. “I love Y/N,” he finally brings out. “I know this is sudden but, I want everyone to know she’s the woman I want in my life.”
“Cordell, son,” Bonham smirks, “we already knew you are in love with Y/N. Watching you pine over your partner was tragic and painful. I’m glad you manned up.”
“When will she move in with us?” Stella blurs out, looking at you. “Right! You will move in! We can have girls nights and talk trash about dad and boys. Oh, we can paint our nails pink.”
“Stella, calm down,” August snickers. “I’m sure Y/N will move in when she’s ready.” Cordell quirks a brow, wondering when his son became a man. “Now let’s have dessert.”
“No, I want to know when Y/N moves in! Her apartment is small, and she can sleep in dad’s bedroom every night if she moves in. I mean, there will be adult noises and I do not like imaging my dad—” shuddering Stella looks at you, giving you puppy dog eyes. “Please…”
“Y/N, would you give me the honor and move in with me and my demanding daughter? August is easy to handle and you’ll barely recognize he’s around,” Cordell smirks when you nod silently. “See, it’s settled. Now let’s eat…”
Three months later you moved in with Cordell and his family. Giving your best friend’s husband and his family new hope and someone to lean on.
…and you gave yourself a loving boyfriend and two wonderful children you will love to raise with Cordell…

Summary:
The rain had started up again. Fat droplets drummed over her hood, drenching the fabric. Her horse’s reins were wet and cold; though her fingers, numbed from continued exposure to the elements, could hardly feel them.
Following the sound of the explosion, they’d arrived at a clearing. It was a mess of blackened, shattered wood, and the wagon, a skeleton, was little more than a smoking husk. Beyond the wreckage, a titan lay prostrate. Felled, its limp, hulking form was barely visible through the rain.
As soldiers shouted, pointing at the creature, one of the horses still tethered to the ruined wagon, writhed. When the beast screamed a broken, panicked wail, her own horse shifted, flanks twitching with unease.
Hanji barely noticed.
The soldiers' voices, the poor beast’s screams, even the heavy, even thrum of rain - had silenced as she looked to the river.
A body lay at the edge of the dark, white-capped water.

She is also crying.
It isn’t like he’s never seen her cry before - they’re nine and crying is just what kids do, especially kids like Hange who like to play with things they probably shouldn’t play with and like to climb trees even though they’re kind of clumsy and so the crying, in it’s self, isn’t all that weird.
What’s weird is that Hange - Hange, with her print-smudged glasses and ratty ponytail and clothes two sizes too big for her - is crying because a boy called her ugly.

Small Victories ➤ Levi Ackerman
Summary: The special training course you opted into was fast paced, exhausting, and downright brutal. Even so, you were determined to become a sorely needed field medic for the Survey Corps, knowing it would most likely lead to your demise.
You couldn’t lie, a part of you also just wanted to prove to Captain Levi that you were far more than just Titan bait…
You knew, going into this, you’d be on the front lines. Commander Erwin had informed you the day he went over your file that you would be stationed close to the Special Ops squad; where you were needed most.
You knew that, and yet, as you watched a soldier’s flailing legs disappear into the 10 meter’s mouth, heard his deafening screams piercing the humid air, smelled the irony scent of blood, you couldn’t help but feel like you’d been in over your head.
Perhaps Captain Levi had been right about you.
“All you medic types are the same,” he’d told you the first time he’d ever met you. “Self sacrificial, stubborn, and fucking stupid”
It was then that you decided you would prove him wrong.
You leaned over a fallen comrade, clinging to life despite the gaping chunk taken out of his thigh. He couldn’t have been older than seventeen, openly weeping for his mother as his body trembled.
I can’t leave him, I can’t leave him, I can’t leave him.
The rumbling of titan footsteps shook the ground beneath you, but you knew you’d lose your nerve if you turned to look at them ambling towards you. So, you opted to keep your face set as your hands worked on instinct.
His eyes were wide and pleading as he searched your immediate surroundings for any sign of the Special Ops Squad. You’d been separated from them when you saw the kid, amidst all the chaos, nearly lose his entire leg to a four meter titan.
You were grateful they’d taught you how to slay the ugly bastards, but you could hardly perform your medical duties while killing the titans that were heading straight for you.
And if you didn’t stop the bleeding soon….
“You’re alright, you’re gonna be fine,” your assurances left your lips like a mantra while you wound thick, cotton bandages over his thigh.
“They’re coming…they’re coming straight for us,” he wailed.
“Let them come, but I’ll be damned if you’re gonna give up when we’ve still got a fighting chance” you snapped, tying the bandage as tight as you could. “You’re gonna have to lean on me and use your other leg. I can’t carry you to the cart like this” you informed him.
By now, both of your clothes were soaked in his blood. As he hobbled to the abandoned cart, where your horse was waiting to pull it, you could practically feel the titans on top of you.
You could picture their smiling faces, eager to devour you.
The boy, who’s name you learned to be Asmund, scooted as far back onto the cart as he could with his busted leg. Hope bloomed in your chest as you tossed your supply bag beside him.
You were going to make it.
He was screaming again, but not for the sorry state of his leg. He was screaming your name, urging you to hurry because there was a titan directly behind you and if you didn’t get your ass onto the horse it was going to-
You felt its fingers wind themselves around your shoulders, upper arms and torso. It squeezed you in its palm, causing your eyes to bulge and silencing the scream that sat poised on your tongue.
You were done for, you knew that much. All that was left to do was close your eyes and think of him, the man who would, no doubt, blame himself for the loss of your life.
The first time you’d offered to help the Captain with his paperwork, he’d scoffed at the notion and told you to leave him alone.
You brought tea the next time, and he finally allowed you the allotted space in his office, giving you your own personal stack of papers to date and check.
“Your lack of sleep is going to catch up with you, Captain” you’d told him as you dipped your pen in the ink well. “You’re pushing your body too far when you only allow it a few hours’ rest. I’m surprised you’ve made it this long without fainting, truthfully”
You worried for him the way a spouse would worry after their partner, but you never wanted to admit that to yourself.
“Yeah? So what?” he paused his furious pen strokes to level you with a glare.
“You should take better care of yourself,” you murmured gently.
“You should mind your own damn business” was his curt reply.
You weren’t certain if it was the reflection of the candle flame or the shadows on his face playing tricks, but you could have sworn you saw a blush rise to his cheeks.
“Nice work!” Petra commended you with a slap on the back and a grin on her face. Out of Levi’s Squad, she was by far the most welcoming.
“Yeah, you almost beat my time. Too bad I’m far more skilled than anyone here” Oluo smirked from his seat against a tree trunk.
You’d done well for yourself in training, only having two years to complete your cadet training rather than the usual four granted to everyone else. You were much older than them, as well, and stuck out like a sore thumb. So, admiring your handy work in the form of slain titan dummies, you were rather proud.
“You used too much gas,” Levi drawled, coming up to kick at one of your near empty canisters.
His eyes were narrowed as he glared at you, waiting for a proper response.
“I’m sorry Captain, I..I guess I hadn’t realized how much I’d been using” you winced as his glare sharpened.
“You didn’t realize, huh,” he circled you like a predator, eyeing your taut form as he did so. “Perhaps you’ll realize it when you’re halfway down a disgusting titan’s gullet. Perhaps you’ll realize when you’re stranded in the middle of an open plain and crushed under one of their feet”
He stopped, suddenly, directly in front of you. He was so close you could make out the dark circles under his eyes and the lines at his brow.
“A stupid mistake, I can always count on that from you” he spoke your name as if it were an insult. All the while, his face showed no sign of anything but irritation.
You hated that you cared so much about what he thought of you.
“I’ll do better next time” you whispered, voice hoarse.
“Outside the walls, there won’t be a next time!” his volume had grown steadily, as he was all but shouting now. “You get careless and then you’re dead. You get yourself killed out there, and we lose you, and then that’s another fucking life…wasted”
The others had enough sense to ditch this situation when it first began, which had left you and Levi by yourselves between the trees.
He quickly turned away, crossing the grounds swiftly enough that you barely had time to analyze what the hell he’d just come out with.
The Captain cared about all his soldiers, you assured yourself to quell the pounding in your chest.
It probably meant nothing.
You heard your name again, this time from a completely different direction.
.. The titan’s jaws were just below you as you dangled from its grasp. You couldn’t move, you couldn’t breathe, you couldn’t even think of anything besides the smell of the gaping mouth you were about to be shoved into.
And Levi, your Captain, a man who was so gentle if you could just break through the tough outer shell he hid behind.
He was calling out to you, desperation you’d never heard from him before apparent in his shouts.
You caught a glimpse of him, swords drawn and determination set in his grey eyes. He was fast, but you knew he wouldn’t be fast enough.
You accepted this as the hot tears fell slowly down your cheeks.
.. “I enjoy your company, Captain Levi” you confessed to him from your seat at the other side of his desk. The paperwork lay abandoned in front of you, as you had far better things to look at than the ink on those pages.
Levi coughed and nearly dropped his pen at your sudden proclamation. His eyes had grown wider than usual, and he outright refused to look at you, acknowledge what you’d said.
“You don’t have to say anything, I understand” you spoke slowly, solemnly. “It’s just..you aren’t like anyone I’ve met before. You try so hard to shut people out with your harsh words and constant glaring, but you care far more than you let on. I think, I think you’re the first person in this damn regiment that actually gave a shit about me”
You noticed his knuckles had turned white with the force that he was gripping his pen.
The expedition was tomorrow; you might never get a chance to tell him this.
“Maybe in another life, maybe if we had more time, maybe….we could have loved each other” you pushed the seat out from under you, standing straight as a pin.
Once the words had left your lips to hang tensely in the air between you two, you were unable to gather enough nerve to look at him.
“I just wanted you to know that, in case something happens to me when we-“
“Nothing’s gonna happen to you” he rasped, head bowed over the page, pen still gripped in his hand.
“How can you be so sure?” you smiled sadly.
“Nothing’s gonna happen to you, because I….because I won’t let it”
The conviction laced in his words left no room for you to doubt him.
You’d done your duty, left with no regret about stopping to help that young cadet that had an entire life ahead of him.
But you did regret leaving behind the Captain, leaving him with your awkward confession and never, ever getting to find out what his lips tasted like.
As you fell into the titan’s mouth, you thought Levi probably tasted like the tea he drank.
Everything ached and burned when you came to. Your eyes blinked heavily at a dark ceiling, your lips parting slightly as the warmth from the sunlight streaming in soaked into your cold skin.
You must have been back home, back inside the walls. The thin, white sheets and itchy cot you were laying on was enough to know that. How could you have possibly made it back?
The titan ate you, didn’t it?
“I told you,” you jumped at the figure beside you, groaning as your body protested the sudden movement.
You turned your head slowly, shocked and incredibly relieved to see none other than the Captain himself sitting on a wooden chair beside your bed.
His body was hunched forward, arms folded over his knees and shoulders pulled forward. His eyes immediately softened when you smiled at him, and he let out a ragged breath.
“How?” was all you could manage to choke out. The familiar stirring in your chest had become an erratic rhythm of pounding and fluttering.
“I almost didn’t make it in time,” his gaze fell to his lap. “You were in its mouth by the time I made it to you. If I’d sliced its jaw open a moment later, you would have been down its throat” he squeezed his eyes shut, as if the memory was replaying before him.
You sucked in a breath, wondering just how far he’d gone to ensure your safety.
“You saved me….when anyone else would have thought it to be a lost cause. You didn’t give up on me..” you trailed off as your vision began to blur with unshed tears.
The silence that followed was deafening.
Just when you thought he’d take his leave, he spoke again.
“I don’t know what love feels like, but I know that I don’t want to fucking lose you”
All that brutal training, all those insults when you’d made careless mistakes, all those nights spent filling out paperwork at the same desk, they all finally had meaning.
How could you not have read the signs before? How could you have not noticed the subtle way he cared for you?
You reached a shaky hand forward, grasping his calloused one in a gentle caress.
“You don’t have to,” the promise in your eyes when he finally spared you a glance grounded him.
“I don’t know what I’m doing,” he stuttered, a fierce blush over his pale face. “I’ve never been good at this bullshit” he muttered.
“We can learn together..if you’d like to move forward with this” you bit at your lower lip, face hot and heart lodged in your throat.
Levi’s lips curved up into the tiniest smile you’d ever seen, but it was a smile nonetheless. A small victory.
“Fine, just…don’t tell Hange. They placed a bet with Erwin, and I don’t wanna give them the satisfaction of winning….”

What if Neil never made it home? (Kevneil pain)
TW - physical abuse (choking), panic attacks, hints of suicidal thoughts, grief and loss of a MC, anxiety
“Where is he?”, Andrew’s monotone voice chilled Kevin all over, making his already rapid heart beat faster. “I-I don’t-“, Kevin put his head in his hands and let out a shaky breath. He didn’t know where Neil was and he was dreading the worst. He was holding his hand just minutes ago but the fight broke out and..Kevin let out a strangled sound and squeezed his eyes shut. “Andrew-“, Nicky’s fear made him look up in time to see Andrew marching towards him up the aisle of the bus. “Andrew, I promise I don’t know where he is”, Kevin pleaded as Andrew ran into him and grabbed his throat, “Andrew, please, I don’t-“. He let out a choked whimper as Andrew’s hands grew tighter around his neck. A million tortured moments of Riko flashed behind his shut eyes making Kevin want to disappear; run away from this place to find his Neil. “Andrew”, he tried to whisper, the name barely coming out. “Where the fuck is he?”, Andrew’s voice barely changed, his deadpan face still remaining; boring into Kevin’s memory. “His father-the butcher-“, he knew Neil would hate him for telling everyone his past, but if it would get Andrew off him, he’ll try anything. As soon as Andrew lets go he can run; he’d run faster than he ever has, until his legs break beneath him. He won’t care about the pain, he’s lived through pain his whole life, what’s a bit more? If it helps him get Neil back he’ll walk through fire, he’ll go back to the nest, he’ll kiss Riko’s feet and smile as he slowly dies. “Baltimore-the butcher of Baltimore”, Kevin closed his eyes and let a tear fall out. Who cares if the foxes see him cry? He doesn’t give a shit. They mean nothing to him. “Andrew get off him”, Matt looked between the two and wrapped his arms around Andrew’s waist, pulling to no avail, “fuck”. Kevin looked up into Andrew’s empty eyes through his blurring vision and prepared for the pain he’ll get before whispering: “please, Andrew, I can’t lose him”. Andrew’s hands grew tighter than before, making Kevin let out a laugh fueled on pain and fear. He looked over Andrew’s shoulder fleetingly as Matt, Aaron, Nicky and Coach finally pulled Andrew off; his throat bursting with a numb pain. “Kevin, sweetheart”, Abby kneeled beside him and pulled his head gently onto her lap, “if you know about Neil’s past we need you to tell us now. It’s important”. Kevin closed his eyes and swallowed through the burn in his throat, silently apologizing to Neil for his truth. “His father..is the butcher of Baltimore. He just got out-“, he pressed a hand against his mottled throat and swallowed the taste of blood, “out of prison. We need to save him”. Nicky let out an inhaled ‘fuck’ as Matt got ready to hit Kevin. “For fuck’s sake, Kevin, why didn’t you tell us before? Is that why he was scared of his own shadow? Because he was fucking running away?”, Wymack ran a hand down his face and swore. Kevin nodded and cleared his throat, “yeah, he ran away with his mom when he was eleven. But she died and..”, he shrugged and let out a pained sigh as Abby began to rub lotion onto his bruising neck. “Fucking great”, Wymack turned his back to the team and shook his head before turning to glare down at Kevin, “you should’ve told us sooner, Day. What if something has gone wrong and we’re too fucking late?” Kevin winced at his words and slowly closed his eyes; he’s been blamed for a lot of shit in his life, but Neil’s possible death stabs deeper than anything before. “I’m sorry”, he whispered, desperate for someone to believe him. “That’s not good enough right now. Everyone get in your seats”, Wymack barked as he strode to the front of the bus and sat down with a loud sigh. Kevin stood up slowly and sank into his seat, watching out of the window as his fear and anxiety choked him once again.
Kevin sunk into the corner of the hotel room and dropped his head into his hands; his left hand red raw from his anxious picking. He didn’t want to stay in this room, he didn’t care if the FBI forced them to, he needed to get out. They reassured him that Neil would be okay, but he didn’t believe them. Kevin flinched as a hand was placed on his shoulder, a gentle squeeze making him want to crawl out of his skin. “He’s going to be okay”, Abby smiled down at him and placed a gentle kiss on his temple, “I know what he means to you”. Kevin blinked up at her and tried to hold his anxious tears in; he didn’t want anyone to know what Neil meant to him. Neil was his and he was going to protect him until the day he dropped dead. “Fuck’s sake”, Wymack grumbled as a loud knock startled everyone up onto their feet. They all stood in silence as their Coach opened the door cautiously and grunted when two FBI agents walked through the door with annoyed facial expressions. “I’m Special Agent Browning and this”, the smug suited man gestured to the taller man beside him, “is my partner Special Agent Towns. We are working on the Baltimore case and can officially announce that the butcher has been executed”. He said it so proudly, so smugly that Kevin wanted to rip the man’s face off with his bare fucking hands. “But this information is not to leave this room, do you understand?”, Towns glared at each face before nodding and pulling a notebook out of his jacket pocket, “we would like some information on Nathaniel Wesninksi, the butcher’s son”. Nathaniel. That name alone brought too many bad memories up that Kevin wanted to scream. He wanted to scream that his name is Neil, he hated that name and he ran so far away to forget it; but now they’re pinning him back down with it. “His-his name is Neil”, Kevin spoke up and felt everyone’s eyes turn to him, “and I want to know where he is”. He tried to stay formal and authoritative but his voice cracked in fear. Both agents shared a small look, a silent conversation being spoken right in front of their faces, before Browning nodded and turned to face the room. “We are sorry to say that Nathaniel did not make it. Our condolences”. Kevin felt the air leave his lungs as if he’d been shot a million times in the chest. “What?”, he whispered as the Foxes turned to shoot him death glares. “For fuck’s sake, Kevin. You should’ve told us”, Matt spat as Dan physically held him back from killing Kevin. “I didn’t-he didn’t want me to, I was just-“, Kevin took a step back in instinctive fear as the Foxes began to shout over each other, each word ripping deep into Kevin’s skin that they began to merge together into a numbing ring in his ears. “He’s okay, they’re just-“, Kevin gripped his chest with his left hand and replayed all his memories with Neil, “they’re lying. He’s okay”. Browning shook his head and sighed, “I’m sorry, kid, but his father got to him before we could infiltrate the building”. Kevin fell to his knees and covered his ears, his lungs bursting in his chest. “No, he’s okay, he’s okay”, he whispered hoarsely, bile slowly creeping up his bruised throat. His ears began to ring with shouts and cries as he watched his Neil slip away behind his eyelids, the blue eyes that he fell in love with slowly closing shut to never open again.
“He’s okay”, Kevin whispered as his body began to shake, painful sobs ripping through his chest, “he’s okay”. He replayed every interaction with Neil, his body still humming with his touches, his cheeks still blushing from the soft kisses. “He’s okay, you’re lying”, he whispered though it came out barely audible, his throat burning with the bile. He felt like he was dying and he was leaning into it; hoping that this will finally be the moment where he’ll die and won’t have to live without Neil. The boy that he fell in love with the moment he saw him swagger onto the court when they were eleven. The boy that mouthed off to the press, to Riko, but would kiss him so gently; would hold him with such tenderness that it would sometimes make him want to cry. His reason to fight back who has lost the battle; who proved that life would never get better, at least not for them. He let out a wail as he felt his lungs collapse, his body shaking so much that he felt as if he were leaving it; finally being freed. “Kevin”, a blurry voice broke through the deafening ring in his ears, a voice so soft that it made his heart break more, “Kevin, sweetheart, give me your hand”. He opened his eyes slowly and blinked through the tears, his head swimming with his fight or flight reflexes. He wanted to do neither; he wanted to disappear. “Give me your hand”, Abby gently took ahold of his hand and placed it against her neck, “feel my pulse, can you feel it?” It took too much energy for Kevin to nod so he squeezed his eyes shut instead. “Good, now match my breathing, I know it’s hard but you can do it”, Abby began breathing too loudly for Kevin’s ears and he just wanted to push her away, but he tried anyway; she always makes him want to try. “Good, that great, you’re doing so well”, Abby whispered through breaths, a sad smile in her voice. “I don’t want to do it”, Kevin whispered as he felt his chest sag in defeat. “No, you’re doing great, I’m so proud”, Abby cupped his face and wiped away the tears that were infinite. Kevin shook his head and dropped his head on her shoulder, opening his eyes to watch as the other Foxes had turned their backs on him. Neil was the only one that made him want to stay here, so why did he let him go? All he had to do was hold a little tighter, but Kevin always let good things slip through his fingers, “I’m sorry”, he whispered though no one heard him.
Kevin strode onto the Ravens court with his head held and with a victory already in his grasp. “For you”, he whispered to the sky before tapping the butt of his racquet against the floor and changing hands, “you gave me your game and I won’t let you down”.

_________
Reader’s POV
“Hey, Mr. Valens,” you said when he came into the reception area about twenty minutes after you’d left the house with Sam.
“Y/N! Everything alright? You’re not in trouble are you?” he asked, giving Sam a look. “You look familiar.”
“I work on opposing counsel for the Druman case,” he said.
“You’re that son of a bitch that got a delay. That was good work,” he said. “A friend of Y/N’s is always welcome although I have to ask what exactly is going on that you’re here after seven?”
“Mr. Valens this is Sam Winchester. His brother Dean is my boyfriend. They knew my dad years back. He might have kept a file on them and I was wondering if you might have it since I know you took over my dad’s stuff?”
“Well I can’t allow you to go looking through the file cabinets and certainly not a lawyer from a rival firm,” he said. You frowned and he smiled. “Sam, you wouldn’t mind waiting out here. I’m sure you understand considering our prep is going on right now.”
“Of course. I’ll hang here,” he said. You walked through a set of doors into some offices, walking down the familiar hall.
“You guys renovated,” you said.
“A few months back. We wanted a little more modern touch. Your dad’s idea actually. Finally got it going,” he said.
“He always had a thousand things going at once it seems,” you said. You walked into his office, Mr. Valens going to a file cabinet in the corner. He dug around in the bottom drawer and pulled out a folder.
“Winchester boys. I’m guessing this is them,” he said. He took a seat at his desk and opened it up, lifting his head after a minute. “Y/N. Why do you want this file?”
“Mr. Valens. Let me have it,” you said. “Please.”
“There’s a reason your father never escalated this to law enforcement,” he said, shutting the file. “What are you involved in?”
“Mr. Valens. You were my dad’s partner and best friend and Tessa and I haven’t heard from you since two weeks after the funeral. You helped me get access to our trust but you left. We needed help. I needed help. You’re a lawyer. You could have made life so much easier. But you wouldn’t pick up the phone. The least you can do is give me that file.”
“You weren’t a child when they died, Y/N.”
“It doesn’t mean I wasn’t devastated. It doesn’t mean I was ready to change my whole life to become a mom to my sister, my very hurt baby sister. I just needed a little bit of help with paperwork and you couldn’t even do that for your best friend’s kids. I want that file, Mr. Valens.”
“You should stay away from those boys,” he said, handing it over to you.
“Why?”
“Their father is an ex-cop. Why do you think your father never escalated it? He needed hard evidence to make that kind of accusation,” he said.
“Can you help them?”
“Y/N, why are you digging around in the past.”
“He came to our house and hurt Dean tonight.” He shut his eyes and ran his hand over his face. “I’m tired of people I care about getting hurt. Is there anything we can do to get them to leave us alone?”
“I’m sorry but unless he does something and you report it, I can’t do anything without hard evidence.”
“I have a recording of him beating up Dean.”
“He could very easily walk on that charge. My suggestion would be to get you and Tessa out of that house and away from those two for good.”
“You’re a dick,” you said as you rolled your eyes. You started to leave and went past a conference room, wide eyed when you saw John Winchester walking out with another lawyer. “What are you doing here?”
“None of your business,” he said. Mr. Valens cleared his throat and pulled you back into his office, shutting the door behind him.
“He’s right next door and you don’t care to mention that?”
“He’s a client for another lawyer.”
“No, I was stupid to come here was all. You don’t care about anyone or anything except money. You’ll work with a guy like that and let him keep hurting his kids as long as you get paid. I’m glad my father didn’t have to see you for who you really are.”
“Do not put words in my mouth,” he said, staring you down. “I said he is a client. Plenty of people need lawyers, including bad ones. I did not say I knew about his past with his sons. I do not condone that and that is exactly the kind of person I enjoy putting in prison. As a lawyer, I’m telling you that you either need very, very hard evidence of something he can’t get out of or you need to not antagonize him and hope he stays away. As someone who has watched you grow up, get you and your sister away from those Winchester boys. You do not know what he will do and that is dangerous.”
“Dean’s in danger. Sam’s in danger. Tessa and I aren’t leaving them.”
“You need to think of your sister, not your boyfriend.”
“She loves them like they’re her big brothers. She is happy, the happiest I’ve seen her since the accident. We’re not walking away from our family. We’ll figure this out ourselves.”
You went to leave when he caught your arm.
“I’ll do some digging. He’s no longer a cop but if he did something dirty, it might be enough.”
“Thank you.”
“Be careful, Y/N.”
You left and walked down the hall, John waiting by the doors out to the lobby.
“You Sammy’s girlfriend?” he asked.
“Dean’s,” you said.
“Your boyfriend going to keep up our arrangement?”
“Why don’t you just leave them alone,” you said.
“I do.”
“Tell that to Dean’s face.”
“He understands that the arrangement-”
“You got nothing on him and we all know it. We will let the past stay in the past as long as you never come near them again. I’m friends with the senior partner here so if you want to try something, I have a very good lawyer waiting in the wings.”
“To tell you the truth,” he said, leaning down to your ear. “It was never about the money. Sure it was nice but I mean he’s so pathetic he never even realized there was no proof. That’s what I get for letting him spend all that time at his uncle’s place. You do realize you’re dating a dumbass don’t you?”
“If it’s not about the money then why did you go to our house?”
“You saw the look on his face,” he smirked. “Fancy ass doctor is nothing more than a little bitch that-”
“Fuck you,” you said, slapping him in the face. You went to leave when you felt a shove from behind. You turned and glared, catching Mr. Valens coming down the hall.
“What the fuck is going on here?” said Mr. Valens.
“She tripped,” said John.
“Oh well now you’re officially on the top of my shit list,” he said, walking over and getting in John’s face.
“Exciting,” said John. “I bet that’ll work out well.”
“Y/N, leave,” he said. You ducked out the door, Sam sprawled out on the couch.
“How’d it-”
“Let’s go. Now,” you said, both of you turning when you heard the doors open.
“Sammy,” said John, Sam swallowing as he stood up. John glanced over at you and smirked. “You know Dean’s been paying me for years to-”
“Go fuck yourself. With a cactus,” said Sam. John smiled and cocked his head.
“You Sam, you always had that fight in you Dean didn’t. I didn’t have to toughen you up. It was just there already. I’m just sorry to have to be the one to tell you that Dean...he doesn’t really love you. He only took you because he couldn’t stand the thought of being alone. I mean he abandoned you. You remember when you called us to help you out cause Dean was too busy partying at school? You remember who took care of you?”
“Sam. He’s just trying to fuck with you.”
“Dean’s human. He’s allowed to have fun and I called you as a last resort. I would not do it again,” said Sam.
“Funny. I don’t recall ever once laying a hand on you. I mean did you ever see me ever put a hand on Dean?”
“You were such a dick. Just because I didn’t see it doesn’t-”
“You know he got bullied right? Blamed me for that. Blamed us for all of his little problems. Then he took you. I can’t forgive him for that. But you had no choice and who knows what lies he’s been filling your head with for years.”
“Sam.”
“And this one. Dean her knight in shining armor? She’s just using him and you know it. For all you know she did that to him. Go back to your old city Sammy. Get out from under his thumb. It’s what’d I’d do.”
He left the building and you put your hands on your hips, Sam giving you a glance.
“Do not look at me like that,” you said. “I watched him beat up your brother tonight.”
“You did almost hit that yoga woman.”
“Because she hurt Dean,” you said quietly. “Your dad literally just shoved me in there. He knows he’s got nothing left except getting you to hurt Dean too. He’s so controlling Sam. That’s all he wants to do is control the two of you and making you fight means he wins.”
“Dean gives you everything,” said Sam.
“I love him.” He seemed to stop whatever he was about to say and you looked down. “And I love you too and I didn’t want to love anyone ever again so that’s a really big deal for me. He makes me happy Sam. I’d never hurt him. He’s my best friend. He’s your best friend too and he has gone to hell and back for you since he was a child. Please don’t listen to John. Believe your brother.”
“Dean used to say to me that he got wailed on but I got the manipulation worse. I think he had that pretty spot on,” said Sam, closing his eyes. “You love Dean?”
“I haven’t exactly told him yet,” you said with a shrug.
“Pretty sure the dork knows,” said Sam. “Just like you do.”
“I hope so. Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Let’s head home.”
“Do you believe him?” you asked.
“You know every morning, every morning, you make Dean a cup of coffee and you either put it in his thermos or a cup for him. Every morning you do that.”
“So?”
“You wash out his thermos every night because you know it’s his favorite. On the weekend you put it in his blue mug and have it ready for him along with a cheese danish that you picked up the morning before on the way to work. That’s just one thing. You care about him and he lets you take care of him and Dean doesn’t do that. I’ll always pick my real family over my parents any day. I’m never gonna turn my back on my brother.”
“Thank you,” you said.
“Did you make any headway, on anything?”
“The partner is gonna look into him but hopefully he just stays away from now on knowing he’s got nothing left to hold over you guys.”
“I hope so too.”
Dean’s POV
“Tessa, I’m fine,” said Dean, wincing as she put a fresh cold ice pack on his ribs.
“I guess it’s true. Doctors are the worst patients,” she said. She hopped up when the doorbell rang and Dean sat up. “It’s just the delivery guy.”
“Tessa I can-” said Dean before he ran off. Dean sighed, Tessa coming back a few minutes later with some styrofoam containers. “You need to be more careful.”
“You think your dad is gonna punch me? A high school girl?” she said.
“I don’t like testing that theory.” Dean scooted back against the headboard, Tessa handing him some utensils and one of the containers. She sat on the other side with hers, watching the TV and eating up some pieces of chicken. “Tessa.”
“Hm?” she hummed.
“If you want to go over to Jack’s that’s okay,” he said. “I didn’t mean to ruin your date.”
“I think my sister put me in charge of you. Jack’s cool with it. We’ll hang out tomorrow,” she said, eating more of her food.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m not the one that got punched in the face.”
“Still. Things can be triggering,” he said.
“I don’t get why you didn’t hit back I guess. I would have.”
“I’ve spent most of my life afraid of my dad. I still am a bit unfortunately.”
“Well you’re obviously not like him. At all,” she said. Dean smiled and started to eat, Toast licking his toes every so often. “He knows you’re hurt. He does that when he wants you to feel better.”
“Animals are very intuitive like that,” said Dean. It was quiet for a few minutes as they ate, Tessa shifting in her spot eventually.
“Dean.”
“Yeah?” he asked, mouthful of macaroni.
“Do you love my sister?” she asked. Dean swallowed and set his food down in his lap, smiling at it.
“Yeah, I do.”
“Why not tell her then?”
“I think she knows just like I think I know that she loves me. I think we’ve both been through so much already that it’s not always in the words how to say you love someone. Actions, those are as important, more important in a way. Your sister is kind and good to me in a way I never thought I’d have. I love her very, very much. I love you too.”
“She smiles again,” said Tessa. “She’s a better person around you.”
“She was always a good person. She just needed some else to lean on for a moment. That’s what a relationship is. It’s why she’s pissed as hell right now and standing up to someone I couldn’t.”
“I know you took Sam away from your parents. That was badass too,” she said.
“Maybe.”
“Are you gonna marry her?” she asked.
“Also a maybe.”
“Do you want to?”
“Would you be okay with that?”
“Yeah. Are you asking like my permission or something?”
“Well, I’d still ask no matter what you say but I’d like to think you’d be alright with it.”
“I’m confused.”
“I’m not asking right now...but maybe hypothetically I will ask in the future.”
“Oh,” she said with a nod. “I got you. When you’re done being shy be sure to let me know.”
“You’re a little shit, you know that?” asked Dean with a laugh.
“It’s one of my best qualities,” she said.
“Sure it is,” he said as he reached over and ruffled her hair.
“Dean?” she asked when he picked up his food again. “I know she’d say yes, whenever you do decide to do it.”
“I said maybe I recall.”
“Maybe it’s not always in the words but the actions,” she said, smirking at him.
“Got me there,” he said. “Let’s not tell Y/N about this though. Deal?”
“Deal.”
Reader’s POV
Three Days Later
“Hey, Dean,” you said as he stirred awake beside you. He smiled and snuggled into your side, covers tucked up under his chin. “Sleep good?”
“Yeah. Better,” he said. You carded your fingers through his hair and he slowly opened his eyes, sleepily watching you. “I don’t think he’ll try anything. It’s been a few days and it’s been quiet.”
“Me either. Like Sam said, he’s an asshole but he’s not nuts,” you said.
“No, he’s not. But I do wonder sometimes...about my mom.”
“You don’t talk about her much,” you said. You started twirling short strands and he started to wake up more but didn’t move around.
“I just...I don’t know if he broke her down after years and that’s why she is the way she is or if she genuinely doesn’t like us,” said Dean. “I don’t know whether to feel sorry for her or not.”
“Well...I think there’s a difference between her failing to protect you and her actively hurting you. Only you and Sam would know what really happened there.”
“Going off of that logic she’s not a good person,” said Dean. “Our grandpa wasn’t so it makes sense in a way. I don’t understand why they hated Sam and me so much though.”
“I don’t understand how anyone could ever not want you either.” He smiled and you bent down, kissing his cheek and then his lips, Dean humming when you moved back.
“Well, I got more than enough people that want me in my life now,” he said. He reached up and kissed you as you sunk back down in bed. He put his hand on the back of your neck and you grabbed his hip, Dean smirking beside you. He was starting to breath a little harder, pants filling the air, when you heard the door creak open.
“Guess who made...seriously,” said Tessa. You both turned and saw her with a tray and some food on top.
“Your sister’s hot, Tessa,” chuckled Dean. You smacked his chest lightly as you both sat up, Tessa setting the tray down on the end of the bed.
“Might want to knock from now on before you get a view of something mentally scaring,” you said.
“I’ll remember that,” she said. She turned to go when Dean tsked her. “Guys. Have morning sex or whatever you were doing.”
“A little kissing never hurt anyone,” you said, picking up a cinnamon roll from the plate. “This looks yummy.”
“What’s the occasion, Tess?” asked Dean, grabbing one himself without a wince, his ribs looking a lot better.
“I figured I could make breakfast,” she shrugged.
“As a doctor, this isn’t the healthiest thing I’d consider for breakfast. As myself, excellent choice,” said Dean. She started to go and he chuckled. “Tessa. Thank you very much.”
“You’re welcome,” she said, Toast trotting in and hopping up on the bed. “No Toast. Your food’s downstairs.”
“While I got you girls both here, I was wondering what you guys would like to do for Christmas?” he asked. “It’s only a little over a week away.”
“Oh,” she said before she looked at you. Dean raised an eyebrow and you shrugged.
“Well don’t everyone be too over excited,” he said with a chuckle. “Come on, anything in the world, what do you guys want to do?”
“Y/N not have to work,” mumbled Tessa.
“I know for a fact she won’t. I also know for a fact that our offices will be closed aside from the doctor that always works that week anyways. All of our lab work goes out that week so a certain someone is going to have her first week off in a few years,” said Dean.
“Wait I get the whole week off?” you asked.
“Yup. We all do and it doesn’t count against vacation. It’s something that’s always been done as a treat to the employees. So. Everybody’s got the week off, even Sammy. I say us and Toast all go do something really fun.”
“Like what?” she asked.
“Well...would you guys be interested in going up north a bit to South Dakota? The past few years our friends all chip in to rent a big house and we celebrate up there. There’s snowboarding, skiing, a resort spa nearby. What do you guys think?”
“Can we afford that?” Tessa asked you.
“Yes we can and I think it sounds great,” you said. “You guys wanna go?”
“We can even get Toast a little jacket so he doesn’t get cold,” said Dean. “Jack will be there…”
“Shut up,” she said, pushing on his shoulder. “It sounds alright.”
“Just alright?” he teased. She rolled her eyes and got up, spinning back around and giving him a hug.
“Thanks,” she whispered.
“For what?” he asked quietly.
“I was starting to hate Christmas was all,” she said. He chuckled and reached over to his nightstand, taking out his wallet. He took out a few hundred and handed it over. “Uh, what’s this for?”
“Why don’t you go get yourself some winter boots and snowpants. My treat.”
“Dean.”
“You don’t have any and you need it for the trip. Besides, Y/N’s going with you after we finish making out,” he said with a wink.
“You’re so gross,” she said. She hugged him again and he plopped back in bed, stretching out wide as she left.
“Dean. I know what you got her for Christmas,” you said. “You can’t give her money all the time.”
“Boots and pants and lunch for the both of you is gonna be a few hundred. Have a girls day. I have my own shopping to do for you anyways,” he said as you lay back.
“Dean I have a good job now. I can pay for those things.”
“Y/N. I make an assload. A day of you two going and having fun like sisters do is more than worth two hundred dollars to me,” he said. “This guy did it for me and Sam once. I’m actually just paying it back so really you can’t say no.”
“Fine,” you sighed. “But after we makeout.”
“Oh you’re not getting out of this bed without that happening,” he chuckled.

drunk in love
word count: 3.6k
genre: fluff, angst
summary: it’s that time of the year again. you’re drunk and jungkook is taking you home. but he has bigger concerns than whether or not you’ll puke on his shoes.
Jungkook is exhausted.
It may only be ten p.m., but after spending all day in the library working on his paper on the political climate in 18th century Europe, piggybacking you back to your apartment is the last thing he could possibly want to do. His mind and body are screaming for rest. But here he is. Dealing with your drunk ass.
“Have you ever thought about adopting a monkey?” You yell your question despite being inches from Jungkook’s ear, making him flinch.
“A monkey? Is that even legal?” he replies incredulously, nearly shouting at you to calm down when you start bouncing excitedly. He doesn’t doubt he’ll have back problems after this.
“I dunno but they’re just so cute.” Jungkook rolls his eyes. “I saw a video of someone with a pet monkey and I haven’t stopped thinking about it.”
“They might be cute but they stink.” You poke your cheek with your finger and smirk.
“Hmmm, just like you?” Jungkook scoffs incredulously in spite of the smile forming on his face.
“I’m gracious enough to carry you home and this is how you treat me?”
“Kidding! I’m kidding, Jungkook.” You press your nose into his shirt and breathe in deeply, making his stomach flutter. “You smell nice. Like Tide detergent.”
Jungkook wonders how he even got himself wrapped up in your mess. Let himself get dragged and strung along beside you. Actually, no. He doesn’t have to wonder. He knows exactly how.
It was a year ago when Jungkook made the mistake of letting you in.
The two of you happened to be at the same frat party. Jungkook knew of you, knew that you and his roommate, Taehyung, were close. But he’d never spent much time speaking to you other than directing you to his roommate’s room when you happened to stop by. That is, until he excused himself to go to the bathroom and on the way back out, quite literally ran smack into you.
“Ow! My god,” you shouted, rubbing your forehead with the heel of your hand. “What are you, made of steel?” Jungkook might have blushed at the comment if he wasn’t so desperate to get out of here.
“Sorry, I’m so sorry!” he exclaimed. The lighting was just bright enough for him to make out your smudged lipstick and panicked expression.
“It’s fine, I just need to get in the bathroom.” Jungkook didn’t question it and attempted to sidestep around you, but as he did, you were quickly yanked with him.
“Ow! Shit!” You hissed, grasping at your head. Upon looking down, Jungkook realized that during your collision, your hair had been caught and tangled into his jacket. The strands had somehow wrapped themselves all around the zipper, not going anywhere soon.
“Oh, god. I’m really sorry.” His fingers fumbled to remedy the situation but you batted him off, attempting to untangle the pieces of hair.
“It’s okay, it’s not your-” You froze, peering over his shoulder. His back was now facing the hallways that led to the rest of the party, but before he could turn his head and follow your gaze, he was abruptly pulled back into the bathroom, stumbling as he went.
“Wha-”
“Quick! Shut the door!” Jungkook found himself complying, though he wasn’t sure why. You reached around him to flick on the lights, and that’s when he fully recognized you.
“Y/N?” You weren’t fazed in the slightest, only returning to working at the strands still caught in his jacket.
“Hey... How have you been?” you asked, as if that were a normal thing to do right now. You didn’t even attempt a smile. Your tongue poked out of your mouth as you concentrated, carefully unknotting your hair.
“I- What? I’m okay. Are you okay? What was all that about?” You sighed, almost as if you’d just expected him to silently go along with your antics and then go on his merry way.
“Ahh, sorry. I was running from an ex and saw him heading this way. And I’m kind of attached to you at the moment, so...” Jungkook nodded in understanding. He’d definitely had some poor encounters with his exes before, so he had sympathy for your situation, though he wasn’t particularly happy to be trapped in the bathroom with you for the time being.
“It’s okay, I get it. I hope things didn’t end too badly...” You shrugged, still focused on the task in front of you.
“He was getting too clingy, so I ended it before things got out of hand. But I guess he still has feelings for me, because he’s been telling me he still loves me for the past hour. It’s exactly like one of his drunk voicemails but I can’t just ignore and delete it this time.” Jungkook’s jaw dropped. He wasn’t sure what exactly he expected you to say, but it was not that. Jungkook found himself thinking you were... cool? Maybe a bit heartless too, but he didn’t know the relationship, so he wouldn’t judge.
“Oh. Damn.” You laughed.
“Damn is right.” You pulled the last of your hair from Jungkook’s zipper, leaving him impressed you’d managed to get it all without having to cut any off. “Well, thanks for letting me hide. I’ll be on my way now!” You brushed past him, back into the fray. Jungkook followed you out, but, for the second time tonight, quickly found himself being shoved back into the bathroom.
“Woah!” You slammed the door shut behind you, flicking on the lights again. “What are you doing? Y/N?”
“I need a favor,” you hissed. “He’s down the hall waiting for me.”
“Y/N?! Please, just talk to me! I miss you, okay! Is that what you want to hear?” A muffled voice called from behind the door, words slurred from inebriation. You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose.
“I’m not nearly drunk enough for this. You know, I was just about to do the keg chug before now!” Jungkook felt like he was buffering, unable to think properly and at your mercy. It was all moving so fast.
“I love you!” The mystery ex started pounding on the door, but all you could manage to do was roll your eyes. Jungkook looked back and forth between you and the door, still unable to keep up with the situation. He felt more like a bystander, an extra in the movie that was your life.
“Okay, I have a plan. Follow my lead.” Before Jungkook could question further, you threw open the door, nearly causing the man on the other side to fall forward into the bathroom.
“Y/N!” The man immediately started smiling, that is until his eyes slid to Jungkook’s. He was clearly drunk out of his mind, his brown hair tousled and eyes glassy. He flashed Jungkook a confused and worried look.
“Jackson, you have to stop,” you began, putting two hands in front of you. “You’re drunk and I’m dating Jungkook now.” You threw an arm around his midsection and pulled him into you. “And if you don’t quit, I’ll have him beat your ass.”
Jackson looked appalled, glancing back and forth between the two of you in drunken confusion.
“Wh- what?” Feeling like he had no other choice, Jungkook spoke up.
“Uh... yeah. Back off.” You nodded vigorously in approval.
“Please?” Jungkook added.
Jackson looked at you. He looked at Jungkook. And then he started crying.
“I- I just care about you so much, Y/N.” Big, fat baby tears slid down his cheeks as swiped away at the snot dripping from his nose. Jungkook was panicking, but you merely groaned.
“I know, I know. But Jackson-” You took him by the shoulders. “You can do so. much. better. You’re hot. You’re smart. And there’s a whole bunch of girls out there who’d love to chat you up. You gotta move on. I know you can.”
“I can’t!” he wailed, sobbing into his hoodie sleeve.
“You can. I promise it’ll be okay. And you’ll feel a lot better in the morning.” You spoke to him like a preacher giving their sermon, your eyes alight and confident.
“Really?” Jackson was captivated by your words (actually, more like captivated by you) and relishing in your touch.
“Really. Why don’t you go talk to Irene for a while? She’s nice. She’ll make you feel better than I will.” Jackson nodded, wiping away at the last of his tears and straightening his posture.
“Okay. I will.”
“Then go!” You spun him around and gave him a gentle push before he stumbled back into the main area of the party.
“Well, that’s over.” Jungkook started, having forgotten he wasn’t a fly on the wall simply observing the whole ordeal.
“I- You-” Jungkook’s eyes were wide, like a deer caught in the headlights. “That was terrifying. And kind of amazing.” You shrugged.
“Not particularly.” Jungkook is both appalled and astounded at the same time. Not one part of him understands how you managed to both berate your ex into tears and then life coach him into moving on. All while, at minimum, tipsy.
The two of you made your way back to the party, Jungkook in shock while you were unfazed.
“You know, Jungkook-” His head whipped to yours, afraid he was about to be scolded for his poor acting skills. “You’re pretty cool. Let’s be friends.” You stuck out your hand.
Jungkook wondered if this was all a fever dream. That he’d wake up tomorrow and realize none of it ever happened.
“I- okay?” Jungkook reluctantly took your hand and shook it. He couldn’t help but feel like he was making a deal with the devil.
And that’s how it all began.
Day after day for the past year, Jungkook found himself dragged into your life, stuck in your orbit.
The two of you shared a required biology class, and suddenly you were partners. And then you were studying together and getting to know each other.
You ran into each other at your mutual favorite coffee shop, so then it became tradition to text each other before heading that direction. You often spent hours studying together in the small cafe, since it was almost always empty except for you two and another student who also frequented the place.
You realized how close your apartments were and now you and Jungkook walked to classes together.
It took no time at all for Jungkook to quickly find himself assuming the role of your best friend, which meant being there for you throughout your shenanigans and helping clean up the disasters you created.
But it’s not like he particularly minded.
While his first encounter made him entirely afraid of you, Jungkook quickly learned that you were no one to fear, just noncommittal. All bark but no bite. And you made good company. The two of you shared music tastes and often nerded out over comics and dramas together. He spent more Friday nights than he could count holed up in your apartment, binging horror movies with you and yelling at the characters for being idiots.
And Jungkook knew you took care of him. You often thought he was too uptight, too stressed about everything. So when you sensed he was getting too worked up, you were the one who dragged him out of his bedroom and back to reality. Before you, Jungkook solved most of his problems by simply getting hammered and then creating a whole other slew of problems for himself while intoxicated. That’s not to say that your therapy sessions didn’t also often involve alcohol, but you were always able to give the constructive and honest advice Jungkook needed before the two of you got drunk out of your minds.
Jungkook took care of you, too. Your trust in him was absolute and unwavering. Though sometimes Jungkook found himself slightly regretting allowing you to build that trust.
Like now.
“You’re so cute, Jungkook, you know that?” Jungkook’s fingers clench (which makes you cry out in pain as his hands were also supporting your thighs), but he doesn’t respond. You were poking at his cheeks now and giggling absurdly, your hair blowing in the chilly November breeze. It was nice, content, peaceful. He should have been enjoying himself, aside from the fact that he was lugging your weight around
There was just one problem.
Jungkook was in love with you. And he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
He had been for some time now, though it wasn’t until recently that he realized the true extent of his feelings for you.
The two of you had been watching some cheesy rom-com when he caught sight of your face in the dim glow of the television.
“People who love each other don’t miss each other like this!” the male lead cried, confronting the female lead in the rain. “Every time I get a phone call and it’s not from you, I’m disappointed. When someone walks through the door, it’s always you I hope I see. It’s always been you.”
And with your head in his lap, half-asleep while his fingers ran through your hair, Jungkook started thinking. Which, according to you, was never a good thing.
Those lines had struck a chord with Jungkook, though he wasn’t sure why. He wasn’t sure why until he realized that he missed you the exact same way. You were always the person on his mind. He quite often found himself wondering where you were, if you’d gotten yourself into trouble, if you wanted to get coffee...
And as the male lead finally professed his love and reunited with his ex-fiancée, Jungkook realized he was in love with you. Completely and unequivocally.
“Pfft,” you scoffed, laughed even. It was a harsh, abrasive sound that tore through Jungkook’s thoughts. “That was stupid.” Jungkook’s heart was beating in his throat.
“Hahaha... Yeah, for real.”
“Wanna watch something else?”
“Uh, sure.”
Jungkook knew he was fucked.
And now, with you nuzzling into his shoulder and showering him with compliments, Jungkook felt just as hopeless and panicked as he did that night. You’d wormed your way into his life over the past year and now there was no backing out.
“I just wanna wrap you in a hug and never let you go,” you murmur, playing with his hair. “You’re like a teddy bear.”
“And you’re drunk.” It’s all he can manage to say.
The wind blows, the moon shines. It’s a beautiful night. Jungkook wishes he had the courage to tell you that you were beautiful.
But Jungkook’s a coward. After all, he’d seen the way you’d tossed Jackson aside, tossed several other men aside when things got too serious. You didn’t do serious relationships. You didn’t do serious at all. So you certainly didn’t do love.
If Jungkook wanted to keep you around, which he desperately did, he could never. ever. admit how he felt.
“Jungkook.” You tap on his shoulder as if he weren’t the only person around. “Jungkook.”
“Yes, Y/N?” You sigh, pressing your forehead onto his back, fingers still carding through his hair.
“I’m so sad.”
“Yeah,” he replies. “I could tell earlier.” He knows you well enough to be able to have seen the hurt in your expression when you showed up at his and Taehyung’s place a few hours earlier, pregamed and ready to go.
“You could?!” you shout. Jungkook flinches. “Why didn’t you say something?”
“Because you wouldn’t have told me!” he replies defensively. “You would have scolded me for asking. And you don’t like to talk about it when you’re sad, so I let it go. I mean, you definitely don’t talk to me about it when you’re sad.” You huff, beginning to fiddle with the neckline of his shirt, making Jungkook gulp.
“I’m sorry,” you whisper, your voice wavering. Jungkook glances back to see a single tear rolling down your cheek, making him begin to panic. Now there was two things Jungkook had never seen you do. You didn’t apologize, never took responsibility for your actions. And he’d never seen you cry. While alcohol made some people an emotional mess, it only ever made you excited and clingy and talkative. Not emotional.
“What? It’s okay! I didn’t mean it like that.”
“No!” you cry as more and more tears begin spilling from your eyes. “That’s not why I’m sad!”
“Then why are you sad?” Jungkook doesn’t know what to do, this has never happened before. He's glad no one else is around, because this situation would not look great for him and you’d lose your shit knowing multiple people saw you cry, not just Jungkook.
“Because-” You sniffle, trying to calm yourself down. “Because I like this guy. So. Much.” Jungkook’s eyes widen. He didn’t know that. His stomach begins sinking. You didn’t ‘like’ people or cry over them. They did that for you.
“Oh.”
“And he’ll never ever like me back, I know it for sure.” You sob softly into his shirt, reminiscent of that night he met you a year ago. Despite the anxious feeling in his chest, Jungkook’s heart breaks for you. You don’t deserve this. “I’m too mean.”
“You’re not mean.”
“I am, Jungkook! I’m mean and selfish and he doesn’t want me.” You hiccup.
“It’ll be okay,” he says, soothingly.
“Will it, Jungkook?” You ask him like it’s a prayer, like you’re pleading with a higher power for help.
“It will. You can do better.” He reuses the words you’d used on your previous exes, but instead of cheering you up, they only make you sob harder.
“But I can’t. He’s so perfect and sweet and-” The words choke in your throat and you continue crying and sniffling, unable to elaborate further, which Jungkook is grateful for. He doesn’t know if he can take you going on and on about your dream guy. The guy that isn’t him. Jungkook observes that despite your increasing emotion, you still manage to be contained when you cry. Restraining yourself in even your most vulnerable moments. Jungkook sighs.
“I understand.” The words slip out before he thinks better of it.
“You do?” It’s too late now, he supposes. Your choked sobs stop for a moment as your attention shifts to him, so Jungkook continues before you can be consumed by your own sorrow again.
“I- yeah. There’s this girl I’ve liked for a while now. I think I might love her, actually. But she’ll never think of me the same way.” Jungkook doesn’t notice the way you bite your lip, forcing yourself not to cry more. Or the way you smother another sob with your hand. Even in your drunken state, protecting him is your top priority.
“I’m sorry, Jungkook.” Your breaths are starting to even out, your sniffles being exchanged for shallow hiccups.
“It’s okay. Because you know, at the end of the day we still have each other,” he glances back at you, who is completely enamored by his words. “Right?” A small smile itches its way into your feature.
“Right.” You wrap your arms around his figure, taking comfort in his strong arms and kind words. And then you giggle. “You’re never getting rid of me, you know that?” Jungkook laughs, the sound tinkling and echoing in the night.
“Oh, I know it.” You giggle more with him, returning to combing your fingers through his soft black hair.
“I love you, Jungkook.”
There’s a prolonged pang in Jungkook’s heart, a pain that makes him want to burst into tears just like you were a moment ago. It’s because he knows that when you say ‘I love you,’ you’ll never mean it the way he wants you to.
The rest of the walk to your apartment goes over smoothly. You continue rambling on about whatever pops into your head next, from pumpkin pie to those gross subway bathrooms to how cute you think Jungkook is.
Jungkook nods along, entertaining your antics. But inside, he feels like absolute shit.
As he tucks you in, he wishes you were sober and asking him to stay. As he turns off the lights, he wishes the two of you were exchanging kisses. As he walks out the door, he wishes he didn’t feel like this. Helpless. Miserable. Tired.
“Wait, Jungkook!” He spins around, surprised you’d been able to clamber out of bed and into the apartment complex hallway without falling on your face. But he doesn’t have too much time to think about it before you grab his cheeks and press your lips onto his.
Jungkook is frozen, eyes wide while your eyes are half-lidded, lips itching to stretch into a grin. The kiss is slobbery and sloppy, drunken and clumsy. Jungkook’s hands find purchase on your waist before enough seconds have passed for him to think and he immediately pulls away.
“Y/N?!” You smile, your thumbs rubbing circles into his cheeks.
“Thank you,” you whisper before giggling. “I love you so much.” You step back into the apartment before Jungkook can react and close the door. He can hear your laugh chiming as you stumble away to your room, letting out a whoop of joy before going completely silent.
It isn’t until Jungkook’s cheeks start aching that he realizes he’s smiling like an idiot.
He walks back to his apartment in a daze. He wonders if you’ll remember this in the morning.
The last thought that passes through his mind before his head hits the pillow is that maybe he’s not so fucked after all.

Nosy Little Miya
Author: GA!babe
Fandom: Sk8 the Infinity
Summary: Miya likes to step away from the little skate fam in order to people watch and eavesdrop. Everyone’s favorite clown punk babysitter ain’t too happy and decides to mess with the kid a little. (Word Count: 1881 words)
~~~
One week before the sleepover
Knowing the gossip and secrets around S was kind of Miya’s whole thing. Before he had met Reki, Langa, Shadow, Cherry, and Joe, he had just slunk around the illegal skating area. Sure he would skate a few beefs every now and again, but it was much more interesting to learn about every little hidden detail about the skaters’ lives.
When people were around their friends, they tended to let their guards down. They would talk about their crushes, their work, their goals in life. Everything under the guise that they were just chatting to a friend. No one seemed to notice or care about a little kid with headphones innocently playing a game just a few feet away.
Headphones were a great way to subtly eavesdrop on a conversation. After all, most of the time he didn’t even have sound playing through them. The amount of S gossip that he has heard is kind of ridiculous, and now, Miya made it a point to know everything about everyone at S. It didn’t matter how new or old they were, he made it his business to know.
What did he do with all of this knowledge? Well, sometimes it was helpful during bets during beefs down the course. Sure, someone could look tough enough to beat a smaller skater, but no one else knew about a recently dead family pet that might affect the mentality of the projected winner. Miya knew. And he always won.
Tonight was a little different. Two relatively new skaters had begun to frequent S, so Miya needed to know as much as he could about them.
“And what are you going to do about it, little lee?” A skater purred to their partner one night, making the other turn a very bright shade of red.
“Sparky! There are people around.” The other skater whined. The first skater, Sparky, moved forward and squeezed the other’s side, making them jump.
“What? Afraid people will notice me tickling you?” Sparky continued to tease while their partner turned this way and that, eyes darting around to see if anyone was eavesdropping.
The only one within earshot was a small boy with bulky headphones on, and he looked pretty preoccupied with his game.
“Stop saying that word.” the partner whined, covering their face with their skateboard. Sparky chuckled and shook their head.
“What word? Tickle? Tickle tickle tick-” Sparky teased before they saw someone walking their way. They hopped on their skateboard and waved for their partner to follow.
Miya glanced up to see what had scared them off when he saw the familiar painted face of Shadow, one of the best skaters at S.
“There ya are! We were lookin’ everywhere for ya!” Shadow announced as he made his way over. He noticed the two new skaters still lingering and made a scary face at them, causing them both to hop on their boards and skate away as fast as they could.
Shadow chuckled at himself before plopping down on the bench next to Miya.
“Why’d you do that? I was watching them. They’re new.” Miya grumbled, turning his attention back to his game. Granted, this was just animal crossing and he could play this in his sleep, but he was pouting.
“What? Those two? They’re harmless! I think one of them just learned how to skate too. Why do you need to know everything about everyone anyways?” Shadow asked, leaning back and sighing dramatically.
“If you’re not gonna tell me why you’re here, then just go away so I can do my job,” Miya huffed.
“We were just wonderin’ where you went is all. One minute you’re making dumb jokes next to Reki and the next – poof! – you’re gone. Can’t have you wandering around on your own,” Shadow said and ruffled Miya’s hair. Miya snapped his head over as if he were a cat about to bite the hand of someone who had just gotten too close.
“I can take care of myself. I was hanging around here before you slimes decided to show up and bother me anyways.” Miya snapped. He saved his game and began to put it away in his bag.
“Yeah, okay, well, Cherry’s weird skateboard said something kinda concerning about the amount of kids going missing every year. I don’t wanna take any chances.” Shadow said, getting up as he noticed Miya was getting up as well.
“That pink-haired slime can make his board say whatever he wants. Leave me alone, I’m working tonight and you stick out like a sore thumb,” Miya said, standing up and getting ready to leave —
When Shadow easily scooped him up and tossed him over his shoulder as if he were nothing more than a bag of flower seeds.
“Hey! What are you doing? Put me down! Help!” Miya screeched, kicking his legs and waving his arms around randomly. It wasn’t the most dignified way for him to fight back, but surely someone would notice a large scary man carting away a small wailing kid.
Pretty soon, people began looking over at them. Whispers and murmurs began amongst the skaters of people trying to decide whether or not to call the police.
“You are just a little troublemaker, aren’t you?” Shadow growled, taking Miya by the hood and holding him out at arm’s length so that they could glare at each other. Miya smirked before sticking out his tongue at the clown-looking skater.
“Alright, you’re asking for it.” Shadow said, a look of complete mischief on his own face. Miya didn’t have enough time to process before he was hugged close to Shadow’s chest. Before he had time to crack a joke or flail around, Shadow’s fingers began to wiggle against Miya’s sides.
Miya squeaked and squirmed, only to find that he could barely move against Shadow’s broad chest. And those fingers just kept moving and wiggling on his sides and Miya couldn’t handle it anymore.
Giggles began to pour out of his little mouth and all fight completely drained from his little body.
“Are you going to behave, Miya? You can become my little giggly accessory. Every clown needs a creepy laughing kid with them.” Shadow teased, trying to get a good look at Miya’s laughing face.
“Ihihihhihihi am nohohohot crehehehehehehepy!” Miya giggled, pressing his forehead against Shadow’s chest, trying to hide his smile from both Shadow and the people who were looking.
“I couldn’t quite hear that,” Shadow teased, taking Miya by the hood and holding him out again. Miya kicked his feet out again, trying to get away from Shadow in any way he could now. One of his kicks gets dangerously close to Shadow’s family jewels.
“Woah! Alright, now you’re really in for it!” Shadow growled. He lets Miya drop to the ground for one second before pushing him down to the ground.
“No no no no no no!” Miya giggled, shaking his head as he looked at the evil clown faced tickle monster descending down on him.
“Oh yeah. I’ll make sure you’re too tired to make any more trouble for me tonight.” Shadow said, lifting Miya’s hoodie and undershirt, exposing his soft tummy to the cool night air.
“You crazy slime clown! Gehehet away from meHEHEHEHEHE!” Miya stammered before loud cackling laughter erupted from his little body. Shadow had blew a raspberry on Miya’s stomach and the ticklish vibrations had made the little cat boy feel such an intense wave of ticklish energy that he had never really felt before.
“Are you going to behave?” Shadow asked, his free hand poking and prodding around Miya’s stomach.
People were looking at their antics, but neither Shadow nor Miya really cared at this point. No one was going to mess with Shadow and at this point…that poor little kid definitely looked like he was having fun.
“Miya?” Shadow asked, still smiling as he waited for a response from the giggling kid on the ground.
“I…Ihihihi…” Miya giggled, not quite sure if he actually wanted this torment to end. He was actually…enjoying himself? Sure, it was a little embarrassing to be seen like this, he knew he could easily slide back into the shadows whenever he needed, so it wasn’t that big of a deal.
“You waited too long!” Shadow said demonically before blowing another huge raspberry against Miya’s stomach.
Miya, once again, cackled, his eyes squeezing shut as he was once again overwhelmed, but it was definitely welcome. So often, he knew that others thought that he didn’t want to be there. Honestly? They were kind of right. Only sometimes, he found skating fun. He kept skating and staying around S, of course, for those rare times when skating brought him that happiness he so often craved.
That was, before he met his ragtag group of skating friends. Some of them seemed as if they hated each other, but it was all in good fun. This? This tickling session? Definitely fun.
But now it was too much. A moment of panic struck through his little body as his brain announced “Okay, done here!”, but it went away as Shadow pulled away.
“Y'all watchin’ something funny? What the hell you lookin’ at? ROAHHHHHH!” Shadow yelled, sticking out his tongue and outright roaring at the other skaters watching. They quickly scattered, the sounds of wheels against pavement the only thing left as they were all too smart to stick around.
Miya got up, putting his little hoodie down over his stomach and popping his skateboard up, catching one side with a hand.
“Race you to the others?” Miya said, as if he hadn’t just been tickled to absolute pieces two minutes ago.
“You’re gonna lose, catboy.” Shadow said, jumping onto his board and kicking off.
“In your dreams, you slime,” Miya snickered and kicked off of the pavement and racing down the hill.
~~~
“Yeah, I’ll take him home.” Shadow said to Cherry.
Miya was curled up against his board, snoring quietly. It was pretty late in the night and the crew was beginning to pack up and each head to their own houses.
“That’s weird. He’s never fallen asleep like this before.” Cherry hummed, looking at the kid up and down.
“Does someone have a sharpie? A marker?” Reki asked excitedly, patting his own pockets down and smiling mischievously.
“None of that, kid. He has school tomorrow.” Shadow said, nudging the redhead in the shoulder.
“Oh come on, it’ll be fun.” Reki whined.
“Don’t you also have school tomorrow?” Shadow asked with a raised eyebrow.
“We do have that test tomorrow, Reki. Maybe you should get some sleep before–” Langa said, placing a hand on Reki’s shoulder.
“A what? A test?” Reki exclaimed. He hopped onto his board, looking completely panicked. “Alright, bye guys! Gotta go!”
And just like that, Reki sped away into the night. Langa was quick to follow, giving the others a quick two finger salute.
“I can have Carla call a car for him if you don’t know the kid’s address.” Cherry offered, holding up his board. Shadow shook his head then easily scooped the sleeping boy into his arms.
“I’ve got this.” He said. “This nosy little kid ain’t the only one who knows things around here. ”

Here Comes the Sun
Here Comes the Sun
Luke Patterson Imagine
Summary: Luke sees you at one of the boys’ practice sessions.
Warnings: just fluff with a hint of angst, I think. There is a mention of a pregnancy rumor and implied bullying, but not extensively
(A/N: I’m soooo sorry this took so long. Things have been hectic. Also, this would be before they died back in 1995. Plus, I’m new to all this so any recommendations, comments, tips, etc would be appreciated)
You had told your friend, Dianne, that you had homework to do, but she wouldn’t take no for an answer. The boys of Sunset Curve were rising quickly on the LA scene and your friend was just one of the many to join their legions of female fans. It also helped that they happened to go to school with you. You couldn’t deny that they were all pretty cute, but you sided with many when you decided you had a preference for the front man: Luke Patterson.
You both used to be close your freshman year, but after he joined Sunset Curve your sophomore year, you both went your separate ways. You’d actually seen him several times in the hallways this year when he wasn’t surrounded by girls. He would be stepping in time with some imaginary beat, his fingers plucking on the old messenger bag hanging from his shoulder. He was always looking up, ever the optimist, looking at the horizon like only good things could ever come his way. His bottom lip caught in his teeth through a beaming smile, his hair brushing along his long eyelashes-
Whew. He was gorgeous.
And trigonometry homework could wait for you to see that gorgeous again up close.
The boys would sometimes hold open practice for a few fans to come watch and hang out, but it was starting to become exclusive as more people began to show up than they had room for.
Thus, your friend lept at the opportunity when she cornered Reggie alone in World History. You giggled at his adorable smile as your friend twirled her hair and flirted his socks off. Before you knew it, she was running back to you with a grin and the promise to see the band practice that coming Thursday after school.
You dressed in some simple mom jeans and a graphic tshirt tied at the waist, hopefully to flatter your figure. Dianne guaranteed you looked “smokin’ hot”, in her words. 4:10 struck and you both got in her car to head that way. The practice started at 4:00, but Dianne told you repeatedly that being fashionably late would set you both apart from the crowd.
On the way to the studio garage, you found yourself extremely nervous. You didn’t even fully know why; it was just a band, just a boy. It wasn’t a date or you throwing yourself at him, but you couldn’t help the fluttering feeling in your stomach at the thought of seeing Luke Patterson perform before a selected crowd, you being one of them.
Meanwhile, the boys were starting to warm up when Reggie started rambling.
“Isn’t it weird that no one comes on Thursdays?”
Bobby snickered. Alex and Luke shared a look before Alex turned to Reggie.
“Dude, that’s because the school has lacrosse games on Thursdays. No one wants to be here when our team is on a winning streak.”
Reggie thought a moment before laughing at himself.
“Oh yeah! I completely forgot. Then Dianne must have forgot too.”
Luke, Alex and Bobby all turned back to Reggie.
Luke spoke up this time.
“Dianne as in Dianne Parker?”
Reggie nodded. Luke’s eyes widened.
“Dianne Parker, as in friends with-“
Reggie smiled. “Yep. Y/n y/l/n.”
Bobby turned to Luke.
“Isn’t that the girl you’ve liked since-“
“-freshman year. Yeah,” Luke sighed.
He turned to Alex, but Alex waved him off.
“Even I have to admit the puppy dog eyes you used to get around her.”
Luke smiled softly, falling back into a memory.
You and he had been lab partners in Chemistry your freshman year, as well as shared a homeroom together. This was back before he was introduced to the music that saved his life, so he was still a shy little kid. He hadn’t found the passion that spurred him to connect to people. You, on the other hand, were everything he wished he could be: kind, smart, and courageous.
You weren’t quite an extrovert, but you always made sure others felt included and valued. When someone fell quiet during group discussion, you encouraged them to speak up and always made sure they knew you valued their input. When he would inevitably get an answer wrong in class, you would quietly show him the correct answer and explain it to him in a way that he didn’t feel stupid. And you would regularly invite people eating alone to join your small group of friends.
There came a point where Luke’s parents pushed him to get a tutor because of his failing grades, and you offered immediately after hearing about it. Every Tuesday and Thursday, you both would meet in the public library after school. As time went on, Luke grew to enjoy your time together and even grew a crush, but he never thought you would like the little shy kid that couldn’t speak up for himself. Then his sophomore year, his parents gifted him with his first guitar and it changed him forever. He connected with people in a way he never had before. By the time he worked up the courage to tell you how he really felt, you were in your first relationship with Danny Fenton, the star quarterback.
Luke just had to watch as you walked with him everyday and cheered him on the loudest on Friday night football games. Then, you had a messy break up. Not even a week later, a rumor spread that it was because you had cheated and were pregnant. It was a nasty, false rumor, but enough people believed it that you moved away your junior year.
In the meantime, Luke had already formed a band and was rising through the social ranks. When he learned you had moved back your senior year, he flipped. Still, he could never find the nerve to talk to you again, and you kept your head low to avoid the social radar.
That all changed today. The boys cornered Reggie.
“Is she coming today?” Luke asked.
Reggie gulped, his eyes darting between the three faces in front of him.
“I-I don’t know! Dianne just stopped me in world history and started asking about the band and Luke and-“
“She asked about me?”
“Well, yeah and she was twirling her hair and you know I have a thing about hair-“
“Did she mention anything about y/n?” Alex piped in.
“Well, she said that she and a friend wanted to watch practice today-“
“A friend? I’m sure it’s her,” Luke spoke to himself, running his fingers through the scruff on the back of his neck.
“Dude, are you gonna be okay?” Bobby asked, the three other boys staring nervously at Luke’s retreated figure.
He turned slowly, his deep hazel eyes wide in uncertainty.
“Well,” he said, taking in a breath, his shoulders dropping in finality, “it’s now or never.”
•••••
“We’re here!” Dianne cheered as her mom’s van screeched to a halt in the drive of the studio garage.
Forget the butterflies, hornets filled your stomach now. And they were angrily looking for a way out.
“Are you sure about this?” You asked weerily, holding your stomach.
“Absolutely!” Dianne beamed, turning to you from the front seat.
Your eyes finally caught the obvious problem outside your window.
“Um, Di?”
“Hmm?”
You blanched.
“Where is everyone?”
“Oh. My. Gosh. Well, what do you know! I must have completely forgot that everyone goes to the lacrosse games on Thursdays! Looks like we’re the only ones to watch today!”
It took all the zen you had not to throttle her little neck.
“Why do you hate me?” You cried out.
She giggled. “‘S all love, darling.”
“Dianne,” you begged, “you know our history.”
“And I know your chemistry too.”
You let out a small wail and looked out the tinted window at the studio garage. The doors were closed, but you could hear the muffled sound of guitars and drums warming up still.
Dianne had already stepped out of the van.
“Y/n, c’mon. We’re already late.”
“That was your idea!”
She held out her hand, giving you a pleading look.
“Di, I don’t know if I’m ready to face him again. So much had happened since-“
“Since you realized you liked him? And Danny got jealous and started that rumor?”
You nodded.
“Darling, that is the past. This is the now.”
“But what if-“
“Can I let you in on a little secret?”
You took a deep breath.
“Yeah?”
A small smile made its way onto her face.
“Reggie told me that Luke still has it bad for you.”
Your jaw dropped.
“You’re lying.”
She shook her head, smiling.
“I’m completely serious. That’s one of the reasons that Reggie was so excited to have us come today.”
You rolled your eyes.
“And what was the other reason?”
Dianne blushed.
“I may have told him that I would make out with him under the bleachers tomorrow at lunch.”
You smiled softly at her.
You were still a scarlet letter when you came back to school, so you couldn’t find anyone willing to be seen with your reputation. That was until you met Dianne, who was known as a serial home-wrecker. That wasn’t true, of course, but a bended truth of a spited ex-girlfriend. Still, she’d had more romantic exploits than you could count on your fingers and toes.
“C’mon, (y/n). Prince Charming is waitin’ for ya.”
You blushed as you made your way out.
•••••
There was a knock on the studio doors and three heads snapped up.
Alex, Reggie and Bobby all looked to each other and Luke.
Luke was facing a nook in the back, his headphones playing from a Walkman. He was still trying to see if he could learn the riff from Wonderwall by Oasis before you came in, but none of the boys wanted to be the one to nudge him with the way he was practically vibrating in his seat.
They shared a silent look before Reggie nodded knowingly.
“Rock, paper, scissors, boys.”
Alex turned to him, blinking.
“Reggie, there’s three of us. That’s not gonna- ok.”
Alex walked up to the door and opened it to reveal you and Dianne, both smiling nervously.
“Hellooo, Dianne,” Reggie crooned as Dianne waved at him, a suave smile painting his features. Dianne giggled beside you and you found yourself bristling with nerves.
“Uh, hey, y/n,” Alex greeted you warmly, nudging Bobby forward as well to greet you.
You pressed your lips in an awkward smile and forced your hand up into a wave. Your mind began to get caught in a cycle.
I should not have come I should not have come I should not have come-
“Hey, y/n, welcome to our practice. Because you both made the wonderful choice to come watch today, we have decided to gift you with free merch!” Reggie grinned, winking at Dianne.
“Reggie, all our merch is free-” Alex started, but Reggie pressed a finger to his lips, pressing them to the side as Alex glared at him. Bobby laughed and you quickly joined in, eager to rid yourself of your nerves. You all began to fall into comfortable banter and the boys were hilarious. Dianne was flirtingly feeling up Reggie’s bicep, asking him about his workout schedule.
“Oh, yeah,” Reggie said, his voice jokingly low and gruff. He flexed his arm. “I have quite a regime.”
Alex scoffed. “What regime? Your type of workout is chasing down the ice cream truck and lifting meatball subs to your mouth.”
“Hey,” Reggie said, turning to Alex with a look of betrayal on his face, “it is an intense regime none the less!”
Suddenly, there was a creaking sound from the back corner.
You stiffened.
The boys had forgotten about the tense guitarist behind them, who had been blocked from your and Dianne’s view by their figures.
A footstep. Another. Then another.
The boys parted and your heart stopped.
Two perfectly sparkling hazel eyes looked up at you through brown tasseled hair. And there it was, that beaming smile that warmed every inch of your body.
You were thrown back three years to the vision of that shy boy with a nervous bounce asking you for help with number three.
That same boy stood before you now, gazing at you like you were a triple-chocolate sundae surprise, a brand new guitar, an open stage, a raging crowd, and every answer he would ever need, all wrapped up in one person.
“Hello there, Sunshine,” he said, at last.

Space Between [8/9] [Aizawa Shouta x Reader x Yamada Hizashi]
EraserMic x f!Reader
Part 8/9
Warnings: mentions of panic attacks, some fluff, no beta we die like men
It’s dark. So dark that you can’t see your hand in front of your face, or your breath in the air as it heaves from your lungs. The cold is all encompassing, and the damp chills your bones and makes them ache.
Where are you?
Water drips from a leaking pipe somewhere off to the side. You feel like you should know the place, but the name escapes you. A basement? A warehouse?
Where are you?
“Tell me who you work for boy, and who you brought with you.”
You whip towards the sound of the voice, a shiver crawling down your spine. You’d know that cruel, grating lilt anywhere...but if she was here, did that mean you were…? No, you couldn’t be back there. It was too dark, too silent, to empty…
“I’m not working for anyone! I’m loyal to-”
A slap cracks in the quiet, cutting sharp into your ears. You take a hesitant step towards the flurry of sound, then another, and soon you’re sprinting through the darkness.
A little piece of you knows you’re not getting anywhere.
“I’ll give you one more chance, hero scum. Give me the name of your partner, and I’ll let you live.”
Your foot catches on something unseen, and you topple forwards, colliding heavy with the wet ground. Your palms sting against the grainy floor, and your breathing is thick and laboured.
You look up to try and something, anything, in the pitch black.
“I...don’t...have one…”
You gasp and fling yourself away from the sudden and intrusive gurgling voice in your ear. So close, but so broken and distorted. You squeeze your eyes shut and fold your hands over your ears in preparation. You know what happens next. You know, and you don’t want to see, don’t want to hear it. Not again.
Just give her my name, you beg silently, wishing more than anything that the outcome of the situation would be different this time. Just give her my name!
A gun cocks, loud and violating, despite your covered ears.
A cold, violent laugh.
“Then you die alone.”
You gasp awake to the sound of a gunshot ringing in your mind. You’re covered in a cool sheen of sweat, trembling like an earthquake. You glance frantically around the room, looking for any signs of danger, and only when you find none does your heart begin to slow. You sit up.
Outside the window, the sky is lightening. The sun hasn’t risen yet, leaving the dawn greenish and undisturbed.
Shouta appears in the doorway, and you regard each other silently. He clearly hadn’t expected you to be awake at this hour, but everything in your panicked expression tells him why you are. He takes a seat on the edge of the bed, half-dressed.
“Nightmare?” he asks, though he already knows the answer. Still, you nod weakly.
“You were talking in your sleep,” he says quietly, as unthreatening as he can manage, “in English. Something about your name.”
That’s all it takes for you to burst out crying, tears exploding forth and pained wails breaking from your chest. Shouta moves towards you slowly and wraps his arms around you in a tight hug.
“My name,” you weep, leaning heavily against him, “why didn’t the stupid kid just give her my name?!”
Your boyfriend rubs soothing circles into your back, not truly knowing how to answer you.
“She made him give everything else! Why wouldn’t he give my name?! I was right there! I could have helped! I could have fought! He’d still be alive-”
You cry harder into his shirt, and remain tucked in Shouta’s embrace for several minutes. Your sobs eventually turn to snotty sniffles, though neither of you pay any mind to the mess you’re making on his shirt.
“He...he didn’t even give me the option to try and save him. If my cover had been blown, then I…”
“Would probably be dead, too.” Shouta’s voice is low and pained, as if merely speaking the words caused him distress.
You peek up at him through wet lashes. “You don’t know that.”
“I do,” he says, “Up until a few days ago, you were in no shape to fight Akuma and win. If you’d stood up back then, your partner would still be dead, and you’d be beside him, and every bastard you’ve put behind bars would still be out there.”
“But how do you know?” your voice crackles, fresh tears springing up. “How do you know I couldn’t have saved him?”
“How do you know you could have?”
You’re both quiet for several beats, before you sigh deeply and set your head back on his shoulder.
“I...don’t.”
You stay like that for another couple minutes, listening closely to the beat of his heart and the steady thrum of his breathing. And once your anxiety begins to settle, you start to squirm.
“You’re gonna be late for work, Sho.”
He pushes the hair off your face, and lays a tender kiss on your forehead. “The kids will understand.”
You grumble a little, and offer him a tired smile. “Thank you. But really, I think I’m okay now. It’s easier getting through this when you or Hizashi are around.”
Shouta looks like he doesn’t quite believe you, but he knows coddling you will only make you mad. You’ve come far enough, trusting him to see you during a vulnerable moment. He wasn’t going to push it further.
“Promise you’ll call me if you start feeling less okay.”
You roll your eyes lightheartedly. “Yes, dad.”
“I’m serious, Y/N. Me or Hizashi. We’ll talk with you through whatever’s causing you problems.”
You avert your gaze from his, inklings of guilt creeping into your heart. “You’re not my therapists,” you tell him softly, “You shouldn’t have to talk me through anything. It’s not your job to deal with all my fucked up shit.”
“But we do love you.” He reaches down and takes your face in his hands, thumbs gently stroking over your damp cheeks. “We’ll support you however you need, no matter what. We want to be there for you, okay?”
You lean into his touch for a couple seconds, letting your eyes fall shut.
“Alright,” you relent, “if something happens, I’ll call one of you.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
He leans forward and kisses you, then stands to continue dressing. You watch him as he moves around the room, collecting his various accessories and pouches, pointing things out to him whenever he can’t find it.
He’s out of the house a few minutes later, leaving you with a warm goodbye and a tight hug. Hizashi had gone even earlier, which now left you completely alone in the house.
It seemed more spacious than it usually did, now that you’re on your own. No background din of partners moving around, no sounds of quiet conversation, or television music. Your chest dully aches as you flop back onto the bed and pull the blankets over your body.
You didn’t particularly want to go back to sleep, but you could feel the tiredness still in your limbs, and the heaviness behind your eyes. On top of that, your therapist had suggested you try some breathing exercises when trying to fall asleep, and you’d yet to try them out. Even if you didn’t pass back out, it might still be enough to allow you to lay there with your eyes shut.
Lo and behold, not thirty seconds after you start measuring your breaths, you begin to drift off.
----
The next time you wake, it’s nearly one in the afternoon. You feel surprisingly rested with the extra couple of hours, but you’re even more amazed with the lack of recurring nightmares. Plain, decent rests were few and far between.
Feeling revived, you’re able to look at your earlier dream more logically. It’s obvious now that your past is still haunting you, and that you’re even further stressed about the events to come. Your confrontation with Akuma is less than a week away, and you can finally see how much it’s weighing on you.
You’ve been trying your best to remain optimistic, to prepare yourself mentally for the oncoming fight, but you’re just so...tired. All the time. Exhausted down to your very core. You know that therapy will help you in the long run, and that’s what you’re planning for, but you know it’ll be months until you start feeling the affects.
You might not even have months left to live.
You sigh deeply, wishing your negative thoughts would leave you alone. Your phone sits on the bedside table beside you, silently taunting you. You could call one of your boyfriends...but did this count as a stressful time; dealing with the very hard truth?
Probably not.
And you don’t want to feel like a burden, like you need help with every tiny thing.
You could get through this on your own, you decide. You had an appointment in three hours, so if you could make it that long, you’d be okay.
But...maybe you’d leave a little earlier than usual. Getting out of the house would probably be good for you, so maybe you’d stop to get a coffee before your session...
Your heart warms at the thought of a warm drink and a snack, so you roll out of bed and start going about your day. No more moping around, you tell yourself. You were going to hold your head high, and hope your mood gets the memo.
----
It’s a nice afternoon for a walk. Not too hot, not too cold, sunny with white fluffy clouds dotted around, and a light breeze. You sip at the drink in your hand, letting the sweet taste soothe you from the inside out. You weren’t entirely sure whereabouts you were, having been wandering the city aimlessly for the past half hour.
Oddly enough, it didn’t bother you. Most often, you liked to know your exact location, to know which way you could run if you needed to. But today, despite your earlier panic, you feel...good. Light. You can’t describe the sudden onslaught of positivity, but you know it’s there. Maybe because Shouta and Hizashi are just a phonecall away, maybe it’s because you’re taking the time to care for yourself, maybe it’s-
You nearly jump out of your skin when a car alarm starts blaring beside you. Anyone around you would probably chuckle at your actions, and you take a second to smile at yourself.
A shop owner must have seen your distress, because he nods apologetically at you as he rushes out of his store to turn the alarm off. He looks tired and spread thin, not unlike your own reflection, and you pause momentarily to watch him walk back into the shop.
You glance over the flyers pasted to the windows, and an odd tremor crawls up your spine.
You try for a moment to chalk it up to your regular anxiety returning, flaring up from your spook a few moments ago...but something in the back of your mind tells you otherwise, some intricately honed survival sense that you’d obtained from years of being under threat.
You look a little closer at the papers in the window.
Most of them are outdated; old advertisements for food deals and community events, images of a couple lost pets. But there’s one sheet at the very center of the mess that catches your eye.
The paper is so pink it’s nearly blinding in the sunlight, but you’re still able to read the details. A charity event at the shop where it’s posted, one day only, when proceeds from every order will be donated to local food banks.
Usually something like that would have you scribbling the date down to participate...but this one freezes your heart to ice and sends another peculiar tremble through your body.
It’s dated for next week. The very day Akuma is meant to attack.
You skitter back a few steps and look up at the store’s sign, fear beginning to roil around in your gut.
Chicken shop. Cartoon chicken mascot.
This is wrong, you think. She’s not meant to attack until next week.
You hurry along from the shop, nearly running as you try to get out of the immediate area. You cut and dive around various slower-paced people, paying them no mind as they scold you for your rudeness.
But no matter how quickly you run, you can’t shake the feeling of impending danger.
You duck into a small nook beside a larger building, a building you’re fairly certain is the radio station from Oracle’s vision, and pull out your phone.
You feel so stupid, while the phone rings and you wait for Shouta to pick up. Oracle has said they couldn’t confirm the date for sure, but you’d pitted everything on them being right. They’d even warned you to be careful about where you go, until the event happened, but you hadn’t listened.
“Shit,” your curse, when you get put through to your boyfriend’s voicemail, bouncing back and forth from one foot to the other.
“Shouta, listen to me,” you tell the recording, “We got the date wrong. I was stupid. I wasn’t careful enough, and I’m downtown. I don’t think this is my mind playing tricks on me, not this time. It feels different. I think Akuma-”
Your breath freezes in your lungs when something cold and pliable wraps around your throat, and a warm body presses against your back. You try to squirm away, but more icy tar wraps around your extremities, holding you in place.
“Hello, little mouse,” Akuma coos, sickly sweet in your ear, “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
Your phone falls out of your hand, landing on the sidewalk with a wet splat. It feels disgusting as Akuma’s tendrils wire and snake around your body, soaking through your clothes and into your skin. Your vision is already beginning to fade, and your breath is laboured as the air is choked out of your lungs.
“Your little partner resisted his death, but I have a feeling you won’t make the same mistake.”
The final thought you have is one of Shouta and Hizashi, holding you close with warmth and affection.
Then the world goes black.

They do finish eating soon, but everyone is talking so much they end up staying a while longer. The kids are chatting at Dad about everything they've been up to and turning to their uncles sometimes too, shyly reconnecting, even trying out timid, broken sign language their mother has been trying to teach them for Uncle JJ. Chase has his babies on his lap and his partner at his side, and don't they look like a happy nuclear family? Everyone chats. Stacy chats. Stacy talks to all his brothers like nothing is wrong, and Jackie gets a vindictive sort of joy when JJ is shy of her, or maybe still a little unforgiving of the past. He hunkers down beside Jackie instead of engaging with her. Jackie puts a possessive arm around his baby brother. He feels like his only anchor right now - but even he is talking about leaving.
Which should be a good thing! Jackie knows that. When did he lose the ability to picture him being safe on his own? JJ's kicked his ass in the past, but somehow Jackie still sees everyone hurting him. Maybe he spent so long separated from him, hearing him crying and scratching at the door of his room, that he just got used to thinking his baby brother was alone and in pain. Or maybe he really is just letting his anxiety eat him alive. Maybe he's just seen all of them get beat one too many times.
They go home and Jackie closes himself into his room, listening as his youngest brothers play games and let Chase talk for hours about his kids and everything he envisions for them. Jackie feels a wave of guilt that he's being such a sour grape - but more than that is the humiliation of knowing that out of everyone, he is the only one who does not seem to be moving forward.
When his brothers go to sleep that night all distraction fades from the house. The darkness of his room closes in on him. He sees the little black sound booth where he works and the dying swan girl in her ballet shoes on the stage, separated from her lover forever. He sees the cold concrete basement of the house in Norway, and Marvin sprinting down the beach away from him, leaving Jackie behind, bleeding out on the floor, as his siblings all vanished around him. He watches Max crumple in the graveyard - and he turns his back on him, and goes back to his monster.
Jackie feels something simmering beneath his flesh. He wipes hot tears from his eyes. There is something inside his body that could snap in half like a tongue depressor if he let it. There is something there that could collapse like a burned bedroom in the attic of a house abandoned in the woods. He's everywhere and nowhere. Alone and surrounded by everyone who hates him. By everyone he's killed.
He sits on his bed in the dark.
"How predictable," comes a drawling voice behind him, and Jackie freezes stiff, fists clenching together. "I always knew you would find your way here. Jack's little hero, breaking down like a child... you're pathetic, Red."
"Go away," says Jackie, voice trembling. "You're dead."
"Don't you nightmare about me every night?" asks Anti smugly, circling the bed. There is nothing in the darkness but his eyes, green as venom, and a faint outline. "Don't I still haunt you, even dead? Poor widdle Roser. If only you hadn't been so afraid, maybe you could have killed off my memory instead of letting your little brother do it for you."
"I forced Dark to give Blue his magic back," snarls Jackie. "I burned you down with light when you were out of control in the forest. I am still a warrior."
"You're a little boy," laughs Anti. "Just my little killer. And now, without anybody to direct you, you're nothing at all."
"Shut the fuck up. I'm still their big brother."
"They don't even need you, Red."
"I'm Jackie."
"Some hero. You know that the moment you let yourself feel anything other than anger, you're going to have a tantrum like a toddler."
"Shut the fuck up."
"I used to have to beat you to unconsciousness when you exploded like that. Kicking and screaming and sobbing like a baby for someone to come save you."
"You are dead. Go away."
"I ought to do it again." There's a glimmer in the darkness and Jackie shrinks back on himself as he recognizes old torture devices he had almost forgotten, from when Anti was first breaking him in. "See you writhing and chewing your fingers for comfort again."
"You leave me alone," says Jackie, rocking himself and closing his eyes. "I'm going to wake up now. I'm going to wake up."
"Come on, Jackie. Why don't you admit you're just an out-of-control baby with temper problems and too much strength for him to hold back? No wonder everyone is giving up on you."
"I'm going to wake up. I'm going to wake up!"
"Oh, no, darling. This isn't a nightmare. You're mine now, Bloodred."
Anti is on top of him and the sharp sting of a whip comes down directly on Jackie's face, making him scream aloud, blood flooding down his face. He's chained to a bed, tied up in barbed wire, wailing as it cuts into him. In the corner, Dapper is tied up by the throat, slumped against the wall, unable to do anything but watch with dead eyes. Jackie howls for him even though he knows he can't help. Anti crushes Jackie's nose with the heel of his boot and whips him again.
Anti's yelling about something he doesn't remember, some failure of his mixed with Red being loud, Red being annoying, Red being intolerable. His little brother is sick in the corner. Why can't he save him? Why can't he get up? He's stuck under Anti's feet as the blows come down. If he just holds still, maybe he can avoid something worse than getting whipped. Why won't anybody come help him? What did he do? Anti turns to Dapper and Red screams for his attention, kicking at him to re-ignite his fury, to turn him away from his brother. And as the leather comes down on him again, Jackie recognizes something he no longer has - the comfort of being needed, desperately, by the whole rest of his family. The single relief for his heart in those times: the chance to protect them. The lone joy of being able to be a hero to them.
"I'll beat you to death and make him bring you back again!" screams Anti, throwing aside the whip to straddle Jackie and draw his fist back, striking him again and again. "I'll make you beg for mercy like the useless little bitch you are! You're pathetic, Jackie! You're pathetic! No wonder no one - fucking - wants you!"
Anti buries his teeth in Red's throat.
Jackie wakes up screaming and tearing at his bedsheets, sobbing and ripping holes into the cloth. He cries like wild, tugging his hoodie close to his body and chewing on the strings of his hood.
If Blue were here, he could hold on to him, and he would rub his back and whisper reassurances to him. Squish him to his body and stroke his hair. But Blue isn't here. Blue got sick of him. The fighting and the nightmares and the - the - the stuckness of Jackie, the obsessions and stubborn immobility, the terrified refusal to acknowledge everything that's wrong. Jackie weeps into his pillow, shaking with an emotion too big to identify. All he knows is he wants to hit something. Hit everything. He screams and strikes his pillow once, twice. He strikes himself, hitting his head with his open palm as hard as he can. He tears out of bed, stalking around his room, grinding his teeth and trying to make the tears stop. How many nights in a row has Anti tortured him? Screamed at him? Told him how useless he is? Why won't it ever stop?
"Pathetic!" he shrieks. "I'm not pathetic! And I - hero! Heroism, I'll show you, fucking - ah!"
He screams, striking the wall with his fist. Fury and hatred like it's the only thing left in him boils against his bones.
Jackie sinks to his knees, heaving.
"Look at me," he chokes into the darkness. "I can't... I can't... I want..."
He wants to break in half.
He wants to go crying to his brothers and ask for help.
But he doesn't.
He doesn't.
After long minutes, Jackie drags himself to his feet, shaking.
"Pathetic," he growls. "Yeah, we'll see. We'll see."
He pulls his sneakers on and opens the door to the apartment. The hot night air rushes over him in a swirl of wind. He draws his hood down low, over his eyes.
There's something burning under his skin. Only one way to get it out.
