I've kind of already explained my stance on Dinostar/Darilynn: I was open to the idea of them happening after season 1 aired, but season 2 made me really dislike them, but I think that was intentional on the writers' part. Darius confession was as horrifying to watch as a car crash for both Brooklynn and the audience, and to me it's obvious Brooklynn only ever loved Darius as a best friend. And I think even Darius at the end of the first season realized that his "feelings" for Brooklynn weren't what he thought they were. To me, he simply liked having someone with him so much that he confused that with love, but really he was simply lonely. Also think it would be fifty shades of messed up considering that he's Kenji's adopted brother and witnessed every step of their relationship unfold, like, to me they're brothers (even Kenji reaffirmed that fact) and it will never not be weird to date your brother's ex, especially when your relationship with her was as impactful and lasting as Kenji's relationship with Brooklynn. The only way I can be okay with them becoming canon is if the writers actually commit to it and don't get cold feet. Meaning Kenji better say f*ck you two, it was nice being friends while it lasted but don't ever speak to me again 🤷‍♀️, because there's no way either of their relationships would survive this, and how Kenji feels about Brooklynn doesn't change that. (Also worth mentionning that them managing to make a relationship work with all the guilt Darius carries and his link to Brooklynn's biggest trauma is extremely unrealistic on it's own).

Benji (I'm going to be brutally honest, sorry 😅): Oh boy, oh boy, don't get me started on what is, to me, the biggest mistery of shipping to have ever seen the light of day 😭. I truly don't get why so many people ship them and I never will. One of the storyboarders recently came out and more or less confirmed that the crew was as baffled as I was that the fandom shipped them and I felt so relieved because it was truly baffling to me to see so many people claim that they were set up. To me it was clear that the thought of Benji had never even crossed the writer's minds. I made a post a long time ago, it was at the time of season 4, or 5, on why I *hated* that ship and unfortunately still do, especially with how the fandom reacted to Kenlynn. But since it's been a long time, I can summarize it here, but I'll still post the link because it was much more detailed and my opinion hasn't changed. The fandom went as far as to harrass the creators of the show, invoking a moral issue with the age gap btw Kenji and Brooklynn while most of them shipped Kenji and Ben, which just proves to me that they literally didn't care and only looked for any reason to hate on a ship they disliked. Because while we were given the ages of the campers (not even their birthdays, meaning that we don't know the exact age gaps btw the characters, so for example Ben could be a month older than Brook for all we know), not knowing that info and looking at the first seasons of the show, everyone would guess that Ben is the youngest. He behaves like a kid, especially in the first season, and it's clear that that was what the writers had in mind when they wrote him. He had his mom give Dave and Roxy a list of things that made him unconfortable, he was scared of everything, he drew with colored crayons right as Kenji called it an activity made for children (the way he drew himself tells you everything you need to know about how he perceives himself, aka a little boy), he's the most emotionally immature, and I could go on. His entire story arc was about growing up. And the worst part is that, to me, his immaturity is the most apparent when he's with Kenji. The way he clings onto Kenji everytime he's scared like a kid would cling to one of his parents will never be romantic to me and I find it horrifying when people edit it in a romantic light. Even worse, Kenji is the ONLY camper to make fun of Ben for behaving like a kid, and he does it countless times, almost coming off as a bully at times. The bottom line is that Kenji viewed Ben as a kid, which made them (as a ship) truly disgusting to me, like, I could never get past it, even with the time jump, sorry if this is harsh 😭. Just imagining Kenji being attracted to Ben in season 1, which is the season where the fandom decided to make them a thing with the infamous gyrosphere pairs, will never not give me the creeps. About them being canon, there's no chance of that happening so I don't really have thoughts on that. There was nothing btw them back in jwcc (as the crew confirmed) and there's still nothing in jwct. They're friends, and I think that's a beautiful thing.

I'm going to speak about the ships I do like because here I just sound like the biggest hater 😂

Yasammy: While I wasn't the biggest fan of how Sammy didn't respect Yasmina's bondaries, especially in season 1 (my personnality is very similar to Yasmina's and I know I would have despised Sammy for forcing me out of my comfort zone without trying to understand me 😭), their evolution was sweet and the way they care about each other is adorable so I ended up liking them and was happy when they became canon. I especially like them in jwct because I like how...real they are? If that makes sense?

Benrius: I'm not shipping them per say but I really like them, in both shows. I think their personnalities compliment each other and Darius always had that soft spot for Ben, which I think is adorable. Season 3 Benrius is really peak (Darius being the only one to sense that something is wrong with Ben, him going back to look for Ben when he left, their fight...). And of course, jwct season 1.

How I see it, to get a idea of why Vincent's route, we just got to look at his close friend and counterpart Helios as a comparison.

With Helios, we have someone who was born/raised with a kindness similar to his mother and who, fortunately, was not influenced much by Luceris to see MC in a cruel light. He's felt awkward around them because, frankly, the whole situation around MC is awkward, especially because it heavily involves his father. But there was never anything fueled by hatred and while he has been conflicted because he loves his dad, it hasn't stopped him from seeing how unfair and messed up everything has been for MC, even if he may not have a indepth understanding of them. While it in no way makes the romance with him burn fast, it makes sense that Helios isn't as weighed down as Vincent both because of his general personality and his past interactions, while awkward, never went into cruel territory.

Then there's the man of the chapter hour, Vincent. From the moment he met them, he started off as a cruel bully to MC when they were already at the lowest and that behavior went on for a good number of years from the looks of it; right off the bat, the origins of Vincent's connection to MC can be described as hostile and unpleasant. Ikram having a hand in shaping that negative view of MC (a lot of negative things can be spoken about with Luceris, but he at the least didn't try to shape Helios' personal opinions on MC), his original admiration and yearning for his mother's approval, and his own close bond and protectiveness of Helios only further fueled his hatred of MC. He's certainly less hostile now, but he's still got years worth of keeping MC at arms length and, unlike Helios, has no motives at the moment to want to understand MC and their plight better. That's not something that will change overnight and will need active work from both ends to overcome the rough start to make a more positive connection to each other.

This was basically my long winded way of saying Vincent being a second most slowburn bond, romantic or platonic, makes sense considering that his history with MC was really bad. Also makes it very foreboding that despite Hunter's general friendliness towards MC, something of their own past makes them the most slowburn romantic bond MC can pursue. What dark secrets behind that smile...

People always expect for Helios to be THE slowburn of the century, and in a way it is because it's so juicy and slow in its own way, but Helios is much more open and has practically no walls around himself. He's very approachable and it's almost easy for the heart to fall for him despite the history that surrounds them.

Vincent is the complete opposite, his walls are super high and he's very guarded and he makes that very clear. With MC, he's not approachable nor friendly nor does he even want to change that about himself because he doesn't want anything to do with MC.

It will take time to change that, it's slow as hell because they have to reach a point where they're at least friendly and then we can finally go to romance.

Aside from that, I find it hard to imagine that MC who suffered from Vincent's words in the past would be falling head over heels for him so soon when it's canon they don't particularly like him at this point because of the past. He will have to change his behavior around MC for there to be anything at all, so enjoy the process. 🫡

Hunter is a whole other matter but I do hope people enjoy all the routes hehe. 🫶

My stance on the Jegulus-Jily-"All Death Eaters suck because canon says so" dispute (or whatever):

TLDR AT THE BOTTOM!!!!!!!!!!!

After receiving MULTIPLE hate asks (wtf I'm literally nobody why do you care so much) guess I have to put this out here!!

first up - stuff I think is important:

Wolfstar isn't canon and it's the backbone of the fandom, so why do we suddenly decide canon is the shit when people write Jegulus/Jegulily fics? "James would've never liked a Death Eater" fanfiction means you can make stuff up, regardless of what canon James would've liked or wanted.

"Canon-compliant Jegulus fics don't make sense" did James explicitly tell you to your face that he would never date Regulus :0 canon-compliant is a very loose term. a lot of the time it just means that canonical deaths and plot-related events occurred, moreso than relationship-related events.

Jegulus haters often say that Jegulus fans constantly villainize Lily, but the fact of the matter is that they don't. You see more Jily fans villainizing Regulus for originally being a Death Eater than you see Jegulus fans villainizing Lily. "Regulus deserves the villainization and Lily hasn't done anything wrong" - reminder that you can hate on canon Regulus all you want (despite the fact that he eventually changed) but you should know that fanfiction might present him differently. Random fanfic Regulus is not the canon Regulus you despise.

Jegulus fans who despise Snape for his actions in canon aren't being very fair. He joined the Death Eaters and then he ended up working against the Dark Lord, just as Regulus did. Yes, he spent years bullying Harry, but do you honestly think Regulus wouldn't have behaved similarly if he had been in a similar position? If Regulus had been in love with Lily, and James and his brother and their friends were constantly making fun of him, and then Lily died after marrying someone he hated, do you think Regulus would have treated the godson of his estranged brother who betrayed Lily, the identical-to-James son of his enemy, with fairness or kindness? Regulus was canonically also not a nice person at all - was literally a Voldemort fanboy, and Snape wasn't even confirmed to be that much - and in fanon he's often characterized as this petty little shit. So do you think Regulus wouldn't have been awful to Harry as well?

Adding on to that, people call Snape toxic and creepy for being "obsessed with Lily" (he loved her because she was a bright spot in his awful life, platonic or romantic. Obsessed? Maybe <- My hot take), but when Regulus does it with James, it's sexy?

"Stop romanticizing Death Eaters" if it's not your cup of tea, don't read. I think these characters are just that, characters, and fanon stuff means you can do whatever you want with them! You can rewrite someone's entire story and personality if you want (ex: THOSE Dark Harry fics, a number of Dramione fics).

my personal opinions:

Jily and Jegulus are both super fun ships. Love 'em equally, though I'd say currently I'm leaning toward Jily.

I'm going to toss this out: I read a lot of Anti Bakugou fics and I always end up stumbling upon All Might Bashing or Eraserhead Bashing with it. Both of these always get me mad. Not because I love them (and I do), I do acknowledge they fucked up a lot in canon. All Might less so then Aizawa (and I have OPINIONS on why people always make All Might out to be this Quirkist bigot) but still.

My issue comes when the consequences start and Bakugou gets off with a slap on the wrist compared to Aizawa or All Might. It doesn't make sense.

Bakugou is not some six-year-old child being led around by adults. He's a teenager who was exposed to the real world. In canon we know he wants to keep his record clean so he can go to UA, we know he's aware he could have killed Izuku if he didn't dodge. We know Bakugou bullied other children and not just Izuku.

Bakugou is fully at fault for his own actions. There's this one fic I read where it's pointed out that like in our world, statistics and gofundmes for discriminated people would be common, and as Quirkless people are discriminated against, they would be part of this. So the argument: I was told it was okay because he's Quirkless falls apart because Bakugou isn't stupid. He isn't.

Did Aizawa fuck up with Bakugou and Izuku? Yes. Did All Might fuck up? Yes. But Bakugou is the only one truly responsible for his own actions.

People like to say Aizawa’s trauma is no excuse but then Bakugou’s trauma is an excuse. All Might telling Izuku he can't be a hero without a Quirk is somehow worse then Bakugou saying Izuku should kill himself because of him being Quirkless.

So… yeah. Sorry, bit of a rant but I was thinking on it. I can easily fix or adjust Aizawa and All Might to be better characters without sacrificing so much of their canon selves. Yet with Bakugou? You literally have to make things up. ‘Hes abused.’ not canon. ‘He was called a villain by society!’ only as a teenager when he was acting like one. Everyone else has only praised him. ‘He wanted to protect Izuku’ how? By getting Izuku to jump off a roof?

Bakugou can be redeemed and changed. I do think that. It's just canon isn't doing it and people in fanfics always just let him get away with a slap on the wrist. ‘Anger management’ okay yes but what else? ‘Therapy’ what else? ‘Going to 1B’ WHAT ELSE.

Redemption is something you have to work for, not get handed to you on a silver platter. And Bakugou hasn't worked for it yet. As well, I've always firmly believed that the victims should never have to be their abuser's friends. And the idea Izuku HAS to be Bakugou’s friend for redemption to occur is just plain wrong.

this is a very unpopular opinion lol but i personally think they shouldn’t have made dick as bruce’s son. dc should have just resolved their problems with them being apart as much as they can in gotham & bludhaven respectively and then fix their dynamic slowly to become healthier and then make bruce & dick as brothers instead, bcs the crux of their problems was them being equals thus being brothers would have made their standing & dynamic more even & equals. (again tho this is unpopular opinion)

Up until this point neither of them had even considered a father and son relationship. Their guardian and ward relationship only came up when Dick was in danger of being adopted away and Bruce starts begging and pleading about it.

Dick knew that Bruce loved him unconditionally and he was happy with that.

That's the second time when the circus wanted him but the first time, his blood relatives wanted to take Dick away from Bruce.

Bruce's relationship with Dick is complicated ranging from son to partner to brother to everything in between. Why not add Mother in it too?!

But it wasn't like Bruce's relationship with Jason and I think that makes all the difference. By the time Jason came around, Bruce and the authors finally realized how to write a father-son relationship. Up until then, Dick was just everything for Bruce and since he was written that way, the authors let him stay that way.

The adoption scene and Dick asking why Bruce didn't adopt him...here's an anology. Suppose a kid goes to school and earns a A on every test and the teacher says "good job!" and they both move on. 10 years later another kid comes along and they get an A too. The teacher has now grown in experience and wants to facilitate growth, so they have now started giving every kid that earned an A a gold star sticker on their paper. This kid takes it home to show their older brother who had that same teacher 10 years ago and the brother comments, "Oh, when I went there, she didn't give out stickers!" But now make it about family.

That's what Dick and Bruce's adoption is. The adoption paper is the gold star. Was it needed? No. Does it make people feel better? Yes.

But I don't like this formally making Dick Bruce's son thing. Sure Dick feels better about it but it was pointless and actually takes away from what their relationship really is.

In the comics, Bruce's behavior toward Jason is more parental than his was to Dick. It was more of a "let me teach you" and "ok, so this is how I do it" with Bruce and Jason. It's a teaching moment of father to son guidance. Dick and Bruce's comics were more "this is what I think" and "I see what you're thinking and I'm going to add on to that" relationship. It was a we're both going to do about 50/50 of the work.

Also Jason came to Bruce at a time when Bruce was stable and knowledgable. Dick came to Bruce at a time when Bruce was literally falling apart. If he hadn't met Dick, he would've killed himself from how reckless he was being. Finding Dick, he saved himself too.

Canonically, Dick is described as a foil to Bruce - the light to Bruce's darkness. He acted patiently listened, worked, and understood Bruce. Bruce shared his emotional burden with Dick in a way he was afraid and careful not to do with the others.

He's still doing it.

Batman (2011) Issue #14

They're not acting like father and son, they're acting like partners.

"It's for the kids! Do this for me please."

Dick as Robin in his later years even screams at Bruce during an argument, "I'm not your son. I'm your partner."

This excessive parentification of Bruce and Dick's relationship, it's not how they function. DC somehow thinks that their loves needs definition. That it needs clear boundaries to show that Bruce loves Dick but the truth is, the devil's in the details and their relationship is riddled with them. You don't need to tell your best friend you love them, they just know. Both of you do. And DC thinks the only way to tell your best friend you love them is to tell them that which is not true.

That said, their problems only arose because Bruce was overly attached to Dick so I don't think he would've been able to let go without speaking to him. I mean, he did get captured (purposefully?) and expect Dick to just come save him just so they could start talking again during Jason's robin era and I don't know how they would fix their problems but I agree that they shouldn't be quarantined into a tiny, constrictive father and son box. They way they act around each and the demands both of them have of the other to act a certain way isn't how a father expects a son to be or a son expects a father to act. I'm not saying they aren't father and son, I just believe they're more complicated and involved than just that.

Oh, Sadira, it's been a while since I've thought of her! I used to ship her and Mozenrath because they both have magic, can control sand and all that. I used to think their pairing was canon, because I saw drawings of them as a couple before I watched the animated series!

After a while, my perception of this peiring started to change. As a matter of fact, I thought that if Mozе remained a villain, he wouldn't be dating anyone. If he was on the path of correction, as in the lore of my blog, he would only be able to rehabilitate and get used to new conditions for a certain and not insignificant amount of time, and certainly not soon enough to be ready for a romantic relationship.

In general, I am now of the opinion that Moze is an aromantic asexual or straight heterosexual who just doesn't see himself with someone at this stage of his life or who just hasn't had the good fortune to meet someone, fall in love, get attached and start a relationship (like me :/)

So even if I introduce him to Sadira or any other woman on my blog someday, at best they will just become good acquaintances or friends, but there will be no romantic sequel.

If we consider the relationship between Mozenrath and Sadira as something abstract and not connected to my vision of Mozenrath as a loner, but connected to my headcanons, then I stick to the following scenario: Moze would have met Sadira not by chance, they would have been introduced at some event. First option - Sadira would be introduced to Mozenrath by Jasmine. The second option is that Cassim would push Mozenrat to meet Sadira (like "Hey, just keep this girl company" or "Come on, it's just one dance, go ask her out!"). Cassim can basically be a little nervous about his eldest son's lack of a relationship, because even the youngest is already married! And if Mozenrath and Sadira were to start communicating after that, it would be Sadira who would take more initiative - starting the conversation first, taking Mozenrath out for a walk, joking around, telling stories, asking him to smile more often. Mozenrath would behave coldly, but gradually he would melt and would not notice the moment when Sadira's company stopped stressing him and started to please him. Sadira could have invited Moze to the first date, or Mozenrath's family could have arranged the circumstances so that the meeting between Sadira and Mozenrath would be like a date. How exactly, I don't know.

I never really thought about their first date, but I don't think it would have been perfect. I think Mozenrath would have been a little awkward, and Sadira would have been open and acted like she always does. It would probably just be a walk somewhere and an attempt at a heart-to-heart conversation between these two. Perhaps at the end Sadira would say something sweet or give him a peck on the cheek and Mozenrath would be embarrassed and not find something to say in response.

My impression now That's Lily's girl! She's sweet! I'm genuinely so surprised that more people don't talk about her? She feels like she should be a fan favorite? Sorry, I am not being the change I want to see in the world (talking about Persephone more), but I am being held hostage by the Ravinstills. She's on the long list of people I want to make a gifset for...

Favorite thing about that character I love that she hasn't let the bad things in her life (the Dark Days and potentially even noticing a bit of Coriolanus' disdain) get her down (seemingly, again, a lot of assumption we have to do with these minor characters... it's the blessing and the curse of loving them!)

Least favorite thing Uh, we don't get that much of her which is sad, especially since all we get is from the POV of someone who really is trying not to be around her or think of her that deeply. It makes me sad!

A character that I wish that character would interact with more I wish we saw more interactions with her and Mizzen. That would have gone a long way in giving us more canon insight into her character!

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character

Deep cut from a piece of fiction that I haven't read in like a decade but Ada Vessalius from Pandora Hearts. (I remember not exactly enjoying all aspects with the execution of Ada's character in that manga but she has certain similarities with Persephone in my mind). Ada's a kind woman who grows in confidence into macabre and dark things but hides that facet of herself from others. (just including a pic because it does hint at her vibe, and also I know one will know who I'm talking about)

A headcanon about that character

Lily, I'm genuinely trying to think of a Persephone headcanon that you haven't heard from me or potentially seen in one of my fics for your benefit... I am unforunately blanking so I shall pull from an Author's Note from an OC fic.

In worlds where she and Festus get married (which is like my most canon compliant world states), they go by the Price-Creeds because their kids stand to inherit from both the Prices and Creeds. Inheritance being very big in the Capitol. The Price name goes first because I think the Prices being railroad tycoons beats out the Creeds influence on the lumber industry.

Also and idk if this is just your blog color scheme getting to me Lily, but I associate her with red, magenta, and also jewel tones.

An unpopular opinion about that character

Not really an unpopular opinion, just different from some interpretations and the same as others. My interpretation of Persephone didn't really interact with Festus much pre-10th HG. Like they interacted obviously in the sense that they grew up together like with the other mentors, but they aren't like in the same close friend circles. (I do love close, childhood friends Festus and Persephone though!)

i watched this movie as a kid first, so i was perpetually shocked when mo didn't end up with charlie. but watching it as an adult, i can tell it was quite the opposite. firstly, mo and scott's relationship has more focus than even wen and olivia's (which are both main characters). secondly, there's that halloween bash scene – mo is playing, and the camera shows scott looking at her proud and in love. thirdly, scott was always going to have a redemption arc, especially considering that the breakup was a lie set up by his friend.

do i like the guy? meh, i think he's really toxic in the beginning and mo deserves better, but mo was always undoubtely staying with him.

2. charlie is kind of a dick.

that was something i never thought of as a kid, but the way he reacted to mo's rejection? BIGGEST RED FLAG!!!! telling mo never liked the song anyway??? man, go to hell!

also, my man hasn't got an opinion for himself. fuck the fact that theres 3 other people in the band and they're all his friends; if mo doesn't wanna do it, he doesn't either.

3. wen was not overreacting about sydney.

dude, i'd be mad too if my dad dated someone who was 29 and started prioritizing her plus proposed to her and had her move in without even telling me??? like yeah, him being mad is valid.

4. wen and stella are best friends.

it goes by unnoticed if you're not paying close attention, but they're the first ones to want there to be the band. they go together to the principal about the removal of Mel's, and wen spends the whole time trying to help stella/translate what she's saying into a sweet tone. the both of them talk together with the rest of the band about playing in the pizza place. in the halloween bash, they keep throwing each other the microphone.

if you pay attention, they're doing stuff together during most of the movie.

5. stella is canonically gay.

disney has a formula for their DCOMs, where in it every main character always ends up with someone or the prospect of someone (a love interest). take high school musical as example, there's gabriella and troy, chad and taylor, sharpay and (love interest) keze, and the completely outrageous hinted ryan and kelsi (thats a gay man and a lesbian woman). do i think chad and ryan are actually together? yes i do, but that's not what this post is about. the message is, the entire core 6 (troy, gabriella, taylor, chad, sharpay and ryan) end up with love interests, meanwhile in lemonade mouth everyone BUT stella has one (olivia and wen, mo and scott, charlie and the blonde girl).

why, you ask me? oh well, because they couldn't pair up stella with a woman in 2011 disney channel and wouldn't pair her up with a man. so that was the director's way of saying: yeah, stella is a lesbian.

6. the entire movie is a letter to olivia's dad.

my kid brain never picked that up, but it's olivia's narration that guides the movie as she writes to her dad about how her band came to be.

now onto some opinions:

this is the best DCOM ever and you can't change my mind.

olivia is my baby girl and i will always stand by my queen bridgit mendler.

And well, since you asked my thoughts on Ronance, I'm back here to give them.

So, I think Ronance is beatiful, like the best ship for me! They just have so much chemistry!!!!! And I agree with you, I love how Natalia and Maya are literally the queens of the Ronance community, God bless them!

What I don't agree with is the fact that Robin and Nancy would actually do get along. Actually, we did saw them get along in season 4.

I mean, yeah, at first Robin thought Nancy was a priss and Nancy was initially annoyed at Robin, but they both changed their mind when they got to know each other better.

In Pennhurst they were able to collaborate perfectly together (they gave each other an high five after Robin's speech helped them), and that scene they had in the woods, where Robin called Nancy her friend, and then Nancy literally asked Robin if they were officially friends and Robin said yes...the cuteness was just❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

So, it seems to me that they already are good friends.

And I think they would be even better as a romantic couple.

They would actually work so well as a couple in canon, I think they could make them canon if they want. They probably won't (sadly), but they could it.

And actually, about Nancy being queer, I could actually see it. Honestly, Nancy gives a lot of comphet vibes, so her being queer would make sense, and it could be a really good arc for her, if only they would do it (at least, fanfics exists)

And I mean, Nancy and Robin are probably the two best characters in the show, so them as a couple would be *chef's kiss*!!!

I am so glad you answered! I love having these kinds of discussions.

Maya and Natalia clearly get along well and work to create such great chemistry between the two including when they aren't sure about each other at the beginning of season four. They would probably be unstoppable if ronance was made canon but I think the duffer brothers are too cowardly to do it!

When it comes to them getting along let me clear up that I don't think they wouldn't get along like innately. But most relationships are going to have fights and communication styles can make or break coming back from fights and disagreements and I just feel like Nancy and Robin would do better as friends having little tiffs and maybe having someone like Steve help them figure out those kinks in they're different styles than as partners who will likely have bigger problems to tackle. But that's just how my little imagination goes with the characters and maybe I'm not seeing the vision. Nancy is super determined so I could see her being determined and even downright stubborn to get her and Robin through a disagreement, to be fair.

This is why I love having discussions like this about characters and their relationships because hearing other peoples ideas and POVs gets me thinking in a whole new direction than I was before.

I'm glad you brought up Pennhurst cause truly I could watch that whole sequence a million times over and is one of the reasons I do still ship ronance just more on side than one of my main ships I usually focus on. And as someone who has had difficultly making friends throughout my life and never understanding why people didn't like me etc I really love the scene between them when Nancy asks if they are officially friends. I had a similar moment growing up when I very nervously asked my best friend if they could see us as platonic soulmates and I was so nervous they were gonna think I was crazy and guess what they didn't we are indeed platonic soulmates lol. Also seeing Nancy enjoy having a new friend who isn't a boy or one of things or something is really sweet since she hasn't had that sense losing Barb (my roman empire tbh).

I've already said I don't think the writers are gonna make them canon (and I think we've gotten confirmation that Robin and Vickie are for sure getting together) but I really hope they don't ignore the friendship they've created between them. I don't want it to be pushed aside in favor of Nancy having boy drama again or something.

Honestly I can get behind Nancy having comphet, I think it would make sense with a lot of the themes we've already explored with her in season three (and a bit in other seasons as well) around misogyny and feminism and the like.

Truly thank god for fanfiction. If you ever feel like dropping by again and giving some ronance fic recs I would love.

ok like i said on twitter here's a bullet point list on my dragon ball yaoi opinions

Goku/Vegeta: i know this is most popular for obvious reasons but this is a classic case of fujos deluding themselves. im not gonna say vegeta hasn't experienced some level of attraction towards goku but like he fully does love bulma and i genuinely dont think goku is capable of romantic or sexual attraction. that said i think their relationship as it is in canon is pretty interesting even without putting on the yaoi goggles

Gohan/Piccolo: this one i kind of get. people want gohan to have yaoi and he does have a pretty special bond with piccolo but this bond is explicitly a father/son thing. piccolo literally says in the show that gohan is like his own son. "piccolo is technically around the same age as gohan" he was obviously mentally an adult when gohan was a toddler so dont even try honestly

Gohan/Dende: if you REALLY need to ship gohan with a man this is your only real choice. its cute and had a lot potential pre-saiyaman saga but after videl i can only see it being one-sided. poor dende

Gohan/Trunks: ok this one needs to be evaluated on a case by case basis so lets break it down

Future Trunks/Future Gohan: after everyone else died gohan probably had to help bulma change trunks's diapers and keep him entertained and stuff so trunks was like a little brother to him. for trunks though gohan was this really cool masculine ideal that he was chasing after and i think its not a stretch to say those feelings took on a distinctly non-plantonic tint during puberty even tho he knew gohan would never see him that way. its safe to say gohan was future trunks's first (and only?) love

Future Trunks/Present Gohan: the roles have been inverted, now trunks is the cool powerful adult and gohan is the kid trying to match his strength. i think if they had been able to spend enough time one-on-one gohan might've developed a similar crush but with how little they saw each other and how high tension the situation was he was just left with the feeling that long hair really suited him...

Present Trunks/Present Gohan: we know canonically gohan was on babysitting duty for goten and trunks both. they have a brotherly relationship and trunks thinks gohan is kind of lame for being a nerd but he still looks up to him at times. no yaoi to be found this time around

Goten/Trunks: NOW we're talking! this is the crowning jewel of dragon ball yaoi. they grew up together, they're best friends who spend all their time together, they're the poster boys of fusion, they're literally attached at the hip. its got everything you could ask for in a good ship. case in point: gt and super both tried to make them het and they still haven't managed to put a single dent on their popularity. i hope they get married and have full saiyan babies

Whis/Bills: i love this one. they're such old gay queens who have been married since the down of time. im surprised its not more popular tbh, i think their involvement is blatant. couldnt have picked a better duo to relaunch the franchise

Whis/Goku, Whis/Vegeta: ok the way whis keeps checking out goku and vegeta is INSANE. he's not even trying to be subtle. that said i dont think he actually wants to fuck them hes just a muscle fan and they both remain oblivious

I will share one of my favorite taekwondo stories from many years ago because I think it is funny. Two different short dads I was sparring with managed to accidentally nail me in the face with the same kick on two different occasions, months apart. (You cannot hit the face in taekwondo but going for a headshot it happens a lot.) The first time miraculously didn't knock out any teeth but my upper lip got stuck in my braces and I had to rip it out while laughing maniacally. I looked like a corpse for weeks. The second time was straight in the nose, so my nose is still slightly crooked and makes a crunchy noise if I wiggle it to this day.

Both of the dads felt terrible but I was a teenage boy so I thought blood on my uniform was cool.

The "short dad curse" was real for a bit there and the only reason it hasn't continued is because I am now the short dad myself.

Any headcanons about your fave characters and ships you want to share? 🙂🙂

Why is it ALWAYS the way that whenever I get asked this, I seem to immediately forget all my headcanons? I love talking about my headcanons and I always want to have the opportunity to share them, but each and every time my mind panics and forgets them.

I've thought this over for a couple days and been casually writing up my answer but I don't think I'm going to remember much else that I've already written, or that I don't want to share because I hate feeling like people are Judging me (those headcanons are for Cíara's ears only apparently lol).

I've spent an awful amount of time thinking about Kim, so all of these will be around her. And some of these are ones that are shared/developed with Cíara.

Because I've always got a soft spot for lingess' friendship: Erin and Kim are still friends, and still keep in touch. If they ever see each other in person, it has to be Kim visiting her in New York, which she has, albeit not very much due to both of their works. Kim hasn't managed to go to see her since at least 2019, though. I have more headcanons about this but I'll keep it just as this.

I've talked about this one before and to my ire canon keeps trying to make this seem less and less likely for me to pretend is canon lol - Sylvie and Kim are close friends. They try to have a girls night and they originally bonded over having failed engagements. As an extension of this, which is one that came from Cíara, girls' night usually consists of Sylvie, Kim and Severide.

Zoe, Kim's niece, was born when Kim was 17. As per canon, Kim was kind of a nightmare as a teen, so I headcanon that Zoe's birth is what grounded her more, because Zoe deserved an aunt.

These ones changes occasionally depending how I feel and what works best for my fic usually, but Kim graduated at 17, not 18 and/or for a year or so, she primarily actually lived with her sister and her husband because she didn't want to be at home. Her BIL was never much a fan of this.

Kim knew she wanted to be a cop from when she was at least in her teens, but she then got some doubts when she was waiting to be of the age requirement - and she had always loved flying and being a flight attendant, she really fell in love with it. She had applied for the academy but while she was waiting to get in, she had doubts about whether or not she'll actually do it. Then one day at work, there was trouble and she helped in taking down the troublemaker and the rush she got convinced her being a cop was her calling.

Some of her pilot friends were sort of disappointed at this because they were trying to convince her to become a pilot/go back to uni and do something in aviation.

Her flight attendant friends never really understood why she wanted to be a cop, and especially after the (first) shooting, they drifted apart because they just weren't the same people.

Kim and her mom no longer talk, and while their relationship had always been rocky, Kim stopped putting in the effort after the engagement fell apart because even though Adam didn't meet her, Kim couldn't get over that her mom only being in town one night made the situation that much worse. Her mother's opinions on the failed engagement, then especially when she made intelligence sealed that.

Kim hates being beholden to her family's money so she, since getting into adulthood, has steadfastly refused to accept any and all money from them.

She had cousins in another state who while didn't have as much money as Kim's side did, had loving parents and Kim growing up was always very envious.

Kim hates talking about her past, even with Adam. As a result, especially now she's more open with him, they'll be little, relatively minor, bits of information that she forgets she never told Adam and some of these will be things she has told Kev and she'll bring these information up around Adam only to learn, no he didn't know that. Kev finds it amusing.

Kim paints.

Kim dreads the day Mack will one day ask about Kim's own parents, especially her father who, after her parents' divorce, none of Kim's family speak to.

Trudy and Kim has bonded together over trashy romance novels and will routinely recommend each other ones. This started after the first engagement fell through.

Kim still keeps somewhat in touch with Meredith and Michelle.

Adam's sister doesn't like Kim, and never has. His mom feels similarly but less confrontational.

Kim feels similar towards them, although she is always a little sad because growing up, she dreamt that one day she'll get the family she wanted in the form of her in-laws.

(Different anon) the jo/mallory scene is such an interesting thing to bring up when talking about the finale because when the ep aired it confused me a lot because i wasn’t really sure what they were trying to say with that parallel, and i didn’t get why the fandom still liked it in the context of buddie being canon. yes they bring up how much jo and mallory love each other and how much mallory loved jo’s mother the same way buck loves christopher and eddie but it also seemed very platonic in nature.

i swear i don’t mean this as a bad-faith interpretation and i don’t think it was malicious at all but it felt like they were pigeonholing buck into the role of ‘dad’s best friend’ instead of…idk. chris’s second parent. i’m very open to having my mind changed but that scene has always bugged me bc it felt like a way to say that buck deeply loves eddie and chris but ‘platonic best friend’ is all it’ll ever be.

i dunno, if you have a different opinion i’d really love to hear it because i’ve always felt a little crazy for not loving that parallel like the rest of the fandom does (including the people that still hope for buddie canon).

the point of this scene, in my opinion, was to draw attention to the similarities between jo/mallory and buck/chris/eddie. and the most blatant similarity, of course, is that in both cases, you have two best friends who loved each other very much, and one of them entrusted the other with the care of their child. this is true of both dynamics and especially so of buck and eddie, given that their relationship hasn't turned romantic yet. it's not necessarily to make a statement that 'buck is only chris' dad's best friend' and he will only every be that. if that was the only point the show wanted to make, they could just have chris refer to buck as "uncle buck" and put an end to the whole question. lol.

i think that...the jo/mallory scene can't, and shouldn't be read in isolation without taking the entire context surrounding buddie into account (and this goes for pretty much any other scene imo). while interpreting it, we also need to take into account the way the rest of buck, eddie and christopher's story has been written. the themes surrounding them, and the many, many times they have been paralleled to the canon couples on the show—which is far more than the number of times they have been paralleled to any of the platonic/familial ones.

i mean, this is just my interpretation. and yours is perfectly valid, too! there are multiple ways to read this scene. i just think that this fandom tends to fall into the habit of failing to read storylines or arcs as a whole, just taking individual scenes and reading them only in those contexts, and that is something we should try and avoid, so that we don't write off the actual potential in the story.

•First off, picking a DATV companion I’m most excited for is hard bc I think they all seem really cool but I went with Neve bc I like her design the most and her being a detective sounds intriguing

•Second, I was expecting Morrigan to be my favorite in DAO…but then Zeveran came along and it was all over for me. I had to fight every urge in me to stop my Cousland Warden (Alice) from continuing to flirt with him bc I ultimately saw her ending up with Alistair. So I just ended up headcannoning that Alice had a crush on both of them but ultimately got won over by Alistair. It was honestly a fun role playing experience—especially for someone like me who tends to be pretty set with these games on who I want to romance.

•Honestly, this is really a tie between Miriam and Briala but since Miriam hasn't appeared in any game, I decided to put her here. I really liked her as a protagonist in DA Absolution (I just wish I hadn’t taken so long to watch it). And her connection to the villain was really interesting (personally, my favorite villains are the ones who believe their beliefs are correct despite all evidence. It's a very human reaction, as we're very stubborn to changing beliefs for better or worse. I would go on for a whole essay about it but that's for another time lol)

•Ryo, my baby🥰 First inquisitor and DA protagonist I ever made (at this point—including this replay—I’ve remade him at three times) so I have a soft spot for him. He’s a rogue with the assassin specialization. Romanced Dorian. Disbanded the inquisition but still vowed to stop Solas. I think by the end of Tresspasser, despite being a good person who wears his heart on his sleeve, he was just so tired of everything. In Inquisition he’s 26 (28 by Trespasser) so if I did my math right he’ll be around 38 by Veilguard. Is the middle child of three siblings: his older sister Ellarian is First Keeper and a fire mage while his younger sister Nuala is a rogue (but favors daggers and pick pocketing to a bow and arrow). In my canon his sisters arrive to help their brother, with Nuala eventually staying on to become her brother's own personal spymaster/bodyguard by the time Tresspasser and Veilguard come around.

•'Nature of the Beast’ has forest spirits, werewolves and an ancient elf. Everything I want in my RPG fantasy /hj. No, but really, I love this quest. Not only is it one of the only quests that didn’t completely frustrate out of the three recruitment missions, I’ve had a soft spot for the Dalish since playing an Elf Inquisitor and it was really cool to actually see a camp (same goes with Orzammar. I didn’t know much about Thedas’ dwarves before this so hearing about how their caste and culture work was so cool). I got lucky my first try and managed to get the “best” ending :)

•Choosing a favorite NPC romance/friendship was hard as there are so many. But I chose Dagana/Sera as I think they work well together as a couple. Also Morrigan and Alistair’s companion dialogue whenever they’re together is hilarious in my opinion😅

•So originally Josephine was the placeholder…until I played Awakening and Nathaniel stole the show. He’s just so fascinating to me and I think he’s one of the best characters in the franchise. Playing as a Cousland Warden was especially poignant as he and Alice worked through the cycle of harm together and became good friends. I wish he was brought back at some point (Sigrun or Valenna would also be nice…Sigrun especially. I love her so much❤️There seems to be so few fan merch of her out there, so far only I’ve found is some stickers. If anyone were to make a pin of her so I could add it to my pin collection I would love that. Take all my money lol)

•In terms of (major story) DLCS I liked (from low to high), I’d rank them:

Legacy -> The Descent -> Awakening -> Witch Hunt -> Mark of the Assassin -> Jaws of Hakkon

Jaws of Hakkon kept me hooked. I barely left the Frostbacks except for the war table missions I needed to do back in Skyhold (it is weird that you don’t have a table out there like you do for The Descent but it’s whatever🤷‍♀️). I like learning about the Avvar’s customs and exploring the world + learning lore around the first inquisitor and eventually discovering the truth. I will not go much more into it to be spoiler free but it was definitely the most enjoyable for me out of all the dlcs.

•With the amount of hours I had invested into Inquisition (~400 my first playthrough I think) I expected it to stay my favorite but DA2 surprised me. Yes, it was rushed, the cameo with King Alistair is anti climatic, lots of areas look pratically the same. But there's something very grounded about Dragon Age 2's world that the other two games can't match. Hawke didn't ask to become a hero, they were just trying to keep their family safe and together in impossible circumstances. Every companion is unique and varied. Watching them grow and change over 8 years and seeing their relationships with Hawke evolve is very satisfying. You're constantly aware of the danger in Kirkwall, it's a city constantly teetering on the edge as the war between the mages and the templars escalates more and more. For me, DA2 provides a sweet spot that the other two games can't match (even if I love them all the same). It also helps that I devoured the story in around a week. It's definitely become a new comfort game for me which is saying something given the subject matter discussed/all the grey morality going on :')

So a bit of background on me:

Inquisition was my first dragon age game so therefore I have a lot of nostalgia for it. Hence why I put my inquisitor Ryo as my favorite PC❤️

(I actually at one point was planning on making a fanfic series about his story but it never really panned out😅. I’ve since changed my mind on that and decided to write some one shots instead which I hope to post on my A03 here if you'd like to check that out)

I actually wouldn’t have known about the franchise at all if I hadn’t randomly found a playlist of the inquisition’s romances :)

Although, playing Inquisition first wasn’t exactly my plan. It was just the first game I got as a birthday present one year (I want to say since 2019??). I’ve had all three games for quite a while now but I couldn't get use to Origins' combat and I didn't want to continue on to DA2 without the full experience so I was sort of stuck for a while lol

Then, Veilguard’s release was in October and that lit a fire under me, determined to finally finish a full playthrough. Unfortunately, October was quite a busy month for me so it didn't end up happening until November/December.

Origins took me about 13 days to complete, DA2 took 7 days, and Inquisition took around 21.

Below is all the mods I used for my three playthroughs.

Origins

LAA patch (The NT 4gb patch also does the same thing—preventing crashes—but this one is THE patch you need to use if you want to use mods. Also, if you’re like me, and don’t want to waste two hours of your life—I wish I was exaggerating— scoping through forums trying to find a solution for ‘missing’ character dll file, try clearing EA App’s cache first🙃. Also, I’d recommend changing some settings to medium before you start if it continues to crash. This isn’t meant to be an in depth tutorial and it’s not going to work for everyone but I want to save anyone else the headache I had to deal with. Downloading physx also doesn’t hurt—you don’t need a NIVIDIA graphics card for it to work)

DAO Mod Manager (You can use this and an overrides folder in tandem. A lot mods can easily just be put into an overrides folder but the mod manager allows you to visually see mods added in the main menu + any DLC you may want to toggle on or off)

Skip fight (probably self explanatory but I was a bit confused at first (my own fault for not reading the description carefully enough), thinking it wasn’t working so I will elaborate a bit more. The mod adds a special item--that you must manually add to your inventory slots--that lets you skip fights and enjoy DAO's story. It doesn’t technically work with the DLCS but [you can modify the addins file] if you make a copy of the original. I said, I'm not a fan of combat but I usually try to give any combat system a chance before I cheat. But I have briefly played DAO before and found it clunky--plus I dislike micromanaging character's level ups so this was a life-saver!)

Extra dog slot (lets you bring your dog along with three other companions. You can still select him as a companion still but if you don't, you'll still be able to take the dog with you by summoning him with a “dog whistle” item. Just be sure to take it out before/if you get kidnapped during the third act as I heard it might glitch your save)

White teeth (Removes the yellowing on everyone's teeth. Pretty simple)

Pineapple’s Vibrant Colors (Makes DAO’s hair, skin and eye colors more saturated. I honestly didn’t notice a difference but I also changed my visual settings to medium shortly after so take that with a grain of salt)

Sparkling effect removed (My nickname for the mod. The modder calls it 'personal annoyance remover' lol. I just needed it bc I thought the sparkling looked silly during cutscenes)

Revenge of the Cousland (I try not to add mods if I'm playing a game for the first time that don't impact the vanilla experience. But I had to replay this part a second time bc I crashed or something. So I let myself add this mod as a treat ♥ Anyway, quick explanation: adds a cutscene where your Cousland is comforted by their love interest after killing Arl Howe. I think it's meant to have music but it ended up being silent for me unfortunately)

[Near the end of my playthrough I finally figured out how to add new hairs into the game but I’ll save that for another time]

Awakening

Dain’s Fixes (Not technically for Awakening only but I had to add this as Deneriem just barely was chugging along and by the time Awakening rolled around, it became unbearable. Just be sure to take out the fast running after combat sub-folder under QOL (Quality of Life) if you want to not be running as fast as The Flash)

Ultimate DAO Fixpack (I think this helped with issues I was having Awakening? I think?? It's basically the same as Dain's fixes but adds a lot more for DAO and extra content. Idk though, I might play around with it for a bit on my next playthrough or just take it out altogether🤷‍♀️)

Light armor retexture/sports bra armor/female neutral medium+heavy armor (listen after 40 hours of staring at my rogue’s light armor with an annoying boob cup thing and knowing I would be spending around 12–20 hours more with it, I wanted some variety. And quite frankly ‘sexy’ armor can be a bit much sometimes—different contexts and all that🙃)

Companion letters (pretty simple. Just gives you letters from your DAO companions in the personal chest after you arrive at Vigil’s Keep. Idk if this always happens but I ended up with a Loghain letter in there despite him being dead, which might be annoying for some but for me I just found amusing lol)

Sigrun's Roguish Past and Law & Order Fix (I didn't know I'd lock myself out of Sigrun's quest if I didn't side with the smugglers during Law and Order as Mischa just disappears. So I found this mod)

Awakening encounters renovation (If you're having trouble getting Velanna's cutscene/personal quest to trigger, get this! Instantly helped me once I went back into the game)

3 more Awakening bug fixes (you can probably guess from some of these titles but these fix bugs from Awakening that BioWare’s never addressed. They are different mods but I figured I'd link them together for simplicity)

Apparently I heard Awakening was around $40 when it first released which is a ridiculous price for a DLC😅 Ik it’s the longest DLC Dragon Age ever had but still. I have the Ultimate Edition of both this and DA2 so I didn’t have to buy them.

Dragon Age 2

Import fault fixes and edits (bug fixes and makes it easier to import a DAO save file into DA2. Found this after I played through the intro and using this/the original importing system didn't cause issues☺)

Easier to read font (I wasn't going actually going to use this myself, just share it. But I do wear glasses/contacts/have low vision so this mod was actually very helpful. There are two options: Serif or Sans)

DLC timings (Makes it so Legacy and Mark of the Assassin start either before Act 2 or 3 depending on your preference. I don't know if I'll use this again as I like the idea of it, it made me feel kind of trapped if that makes sense. Small nitpick I know, but I still recommend it)

Story mode (Basically speeds up fights to get them more over quickly in 'casual mod'--again if you're someone like me that would just like to enjoy the story)

Mabari recolors (Sometimes you need mod just for fun and this was that mod for me. I chose the Cwn Annwn recolor, which is a hellhound from Welsh mythology. I discovered afterwards that there's also a similar mod for DAO. Unfortunately it also replaces the retexture of every mabari in DA2 but it's not that big of a deal)

No more bloody teeth (same as the Origins mod above but for 2)

Pineapple’s vibrant colors (again, same as DAO but for 2)

Zeveran Restoration Project (I don't know if I'm happy with this redesign but it's much better than his actual appearance in game in my opinion)

Fenris' spring cleaning (removes the corpses from fenris' mansion. that's it🤷‍♀️)

Fenris white eyebrows (I thought this would be a no brainer but idk if I will keep this one as Fenris having darker eyebrows fits more with me ignoring the 'canon' that Bioware made, suggesting he was originally blond...just why😅)

Varania looks related to Fenris (gives Varania a tan skin tone and subtler red hair)

Feynriel Family Resemblance (Makes Feynriel from the Night Terrors quest actually look like his parents)

Forbidden Knowledge Quest Fix (lets you complete forbidden knowledge even if you read one of the tomes)

Return of Anders' fox's pendant (exactly what it says. I just thought it'd be a nice touch since I played through all of awakening)

Increased combat dialogue (basically what it says on the tin--increases how often your companions speak their combat dialogue)

Elven Tallis Redux (Makes Tallis look more canonically like the other elves in the game)

Backpack Mod (I hoard everything so I needed more inventory space. You can purchase more backpack space from merchants in each act)

Valuable Junk (I would just explain this mod but you can tell by the title and I frankly don't want to)

Robes of the Apostate (I tried several mods for my mage!Hawke to wear before you can get the champion armor and I settled on this one. It's an import of Dorian's/Vivienne's robes from DAI in the red and silver male version and I think it looks quite nice)

Amell Ancestral Arms (I used the ancestral robes variant as a replacer for Hawke's home outfit)

Epilogue Restoration/Fixes (fixes epilogue glitches and also restores dialogue for a Sebastian f!Hawke romance if that's your thing)

DAI

[There's two modders for DAI: .dai and Frosty. I use .dai mostly as I find it friendlier to use but did use a few frosty mods during my playthrough. You don't have to use them together though, it's all player preference]

.DAI Mods:

Fonty (same as DA2's font mod but for Inquisition. No second font option though. This one just uses Georgia. Also comes with a readable font for dyslexia)

Inquisitor Tarot Portrait (I love the artwork used to represent the inquisitor at the beginning of the game so when I found a portrait replacer to make the Inquisitor's icon that in game, i had to download it. Just be sure to keep the one you want in the load order and the others elsewhere as otherwise every inquisitor will default to the male Qunari artwork)

Immersive Starting Armors (gives your Inquisitor new armor that makes sense for their background/class during the intro)

Dalish Elf Saddle (retextures the mount saddle for a more dalish friendly one. I chose the darker retexture)

Fall damage nullified (it feels nice to be able to jump everywhere without having to worry about wasting all my healing potions)

Quicker Looting (Removes the looting animation)

No more Fog of War (removes the fog, allowing you to see the entire map without exploring so you can see every area/camp. Can be used with every DLC)

Shorter War Table Missions (Because who has time to wait nearly 24 hours for one war table mission to complete? Also I just thought War Table - No Waiting would be too OP for me)

More Inquisition Levels (I figured since I was trying to complete as much as possible this playthrough, I could unlock all the perks too)

Search Radius Increased (increases the radius of the search function by either 50 or 100 percent)

Yes we know about Mythal (removes an Elf inquisitor asking Morrigan who Mythal is while in the Arbor Wilds...for what should be obvious reasons…amongst other changes. The mod will still trigger with a non elf inquisitor so be sure to take it out for subsequent playthroughs)

More banter (lets you hear the companion dialogue more often--to be exact, every 15 minutes)

No more grave desecration (in the Exalted Plains there's a side quest where the only way to find items is to destroy the Dalish's graves which quite frankly doesn't make much sense to do for my elf quizzy. Also it's just rude and disrespectful😅. Now you just buy them from the Dalish camp)

Templar Banner Banned (removes the templar banner from outside the inquisitor's quarters)

Alistair 10 Years Later (Makes his skin tone more tan/adds some hair color options. I originally had a frosty retexture installed but found this dai mod and like this one better)

Leliana the Nightingale (gives Leliana a softer look that aligns with her Origins appearance)

Morrigan Outfit Retexture + Refined Morrigan + Morrigan's Classic Staff (Gives Morrigan a look based on some concept art/gives her a complexion similar to how she looks in Origins. And of course, I couldn't not give Morrigan back her original cold staff)

No Shiny Shirt (removes the shine from Josephine's shirt)

No more dirt buildup (removes the dirt from the inquisitor pants that appears as a while in game)

SFF Sumptuous Finery Silk (A replacer for the Winter Palace. Comes in a variety of colors—only choose one at a time. I picked the silver-blue variant. Doesn’t work with Tresspasser to my dismay)

Eggs without Hats (removes the awful hat Solas wears during Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts)

Party at the Winter Palace (back in 2019, this was the original mod I wanted to download but as I mentioned before, I hadn't figured out how to mod DAI yet; it seemed so complicated then. Anyway,, this mod lets you bring everyone with you for Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts and in the .dai mod version includes extended intros which lets you hear all the intros included for every companion)

Restored mosaics (I didn't go through all the trouble of finding every mosaic piece only to not be able to see the mosaics properly, you know? Comes in a full colored variant, a bronze and silver versions)

Bugs be gone (fixes various bugs in DAI that Bioware didn't)

Enhanced Camera (The camera's zoom in was not enough, I needed to zoom in even more. I chose the default angle but there's also an over the shoulder variant)

Hawke's armory (Gives Hawke a DA2 weapon of your choosing instead of the default weapon they're given. I used the legacy staff my entire DA2 playthrough so I wanted to reflect that in DAI)

Mabari retextures and recolors (Makes the mabari look less derpy/more canon friendly. I chose the Barkspawn variant because I thought that was a nice touch. While you can technically use it during main game, it’s reccomended to only use during Tresspasser)-

Story Mode (Makes casual difficulty even easier and comes as a potion you make. I resisted using this for a long time but then I had to cave after the game prevented one of the Emprise de Lion dragons from being killed as Ryo fell off the edge last minute...it was kind of funny but also very frustrating. Also it's just helpful when sometimes you want to get to your destination. Doesn't work with DLC though unfortunately)

Frosty Mods:

Regal Inquisition Throne (changes the inquisition throne to a nicer redesign as I wanted a blue throne to complement by Inquisitor's aesthetic and none of the other throne options felt right)

Collectables Map Pin (I'm a very visual person so needing to physically see the general area of where the various in game collectibles without having to rely on vague descriptions from wiki descriptions was a must near the end game. Conflicts with No More Fog of War however so they unfortunately can't be used at the same time)

Lore-friendly Fiona and Briala (I don't usually change character's appearances in games bc it's just not my thing or I find it complicated. But I read The Masked Empire recently so this felt kind of necessary to add to the game. Unfortunately, I couldn't get Briala's to work no matter what which made me sad as she looks gorgeous)

Requisition Officer Off (stops the requisition officer from talking to you unless you click on her)

Free Halla Doors (Unlocks all halla doors in the Winter Palace automatically. Personally saves me from more stress than this section already gives me)

Imperial Florianne + Calpernia Hair Swap (Imperial Florianne gives Florianne some makeup. The other mod actually gives her a couple of hairstyle options, I just chose Calpernia's as a personal preference)

CELENE THIS IS A BATTLEFIELD (Swaps Celene's dress for some armor during What Pride had Wrought)

Codex card and UI edits (I chose the Alistair and Fiona variants to make them more canon friendly. Also fixes Fiona's skintone during the epilogue)

Tutorials are on Youtube for free if you want to figure out how to mod DA for yourself and don't know where to start. Also I used a lot of forum and reddit posts bc that’s what popped up most frequently.

I’m glad that I finally figured out how to mod Dragon Age as I tried years ago when I first played Inquisition. But I was still k\new to Nexus mods then and didn’t understand how it worked so I left it alone for a while (it’s kind of ironic that the modding was a hurdle for me as I have been a Sims 3 player for 11 years but every system is different). I bought Mass Effect on sale at Steam last August and modding that gave the courage to try modding Dragon Age again.

This also gave me an opportunity to finish some of the tie in stuff that I had been wanting to (Masked Empire/

The Masked Empire/Asunder have also been sitting on my shelves for a few months and I got The Calling as a gift recently. I have been collecting the deluxe editions...but they are unfortunately incredibly hard to find (especially Last Flight--it's virtually nowhere and when someone does list it, it's super expensive. I wish I was joking but one post on Ebay lists it for a $1,000😐)

I meant to post this in December/early January but life got in the way. I also got more storage space for my computer this year so I could actually install/play Dragon Age The Veilguard (finally!!).

I’m around 17 hours in at the moment and so far…it’s alright. I don’t think it’s entirely irredeemable but I’m not loving it as much as the others. It’s just missing something that the other games had. Act 1 feels pretty slow even though I’m pretty sure I’m almost done with it. I do like some parts more than others: I like the character creation a lot (being able to give the PC a decent hairstyle is nice lol), the companions are interesting, climbing down+up ladders/sliding down hills is smooth, jumping onto ledges is a nice touch and, for me, the combat is pretty good (even if I don’t like the action route, it makes my mage!Rook very squishy ;-;). One particular, tiny detail I love is how if you get into a fight after two of your companions were in the middle of a conversation, they will continue it afterwards so there's not a chance of missing companion banter which I just think is so cool ^^

My biggest gripe is I’m having some technical issues with my graphics card because Intel Graphics causes a red light to appear everywhere and I’ve gathered that EA will probably not fix that🙄 Can’t exactly be emotionally invested when I can’t see anyone in a cutscene. It’s better in some areas and worse in others but it’s very annoying regardless :’) Also I occasionally experience crashes and I’ve been dealing with that annoying white screen bug in character creation that’s been going around— eventually fixed itself once I changed the background so I could properly edit my Rook.

I don't think I'd be as salty about it except every other game works great on my PC (Cyberpunk, Skyrim, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Sims 3, Origins, etc). But I digress, I've tried lots of methods but I've given up on trying to get a smooth experience that doesn't require me to get a completely different graphics card after upgrading my storage.

Then when I made my Inquisitor. It was going alright, considering I was going purely based off a photo I had on hand. But I kept feeling like something was off about it. And then just as I was about to fall asleep that night I realized…I had given Ryo the wrong Vallaslin and had to start over again🥲 (I was pretty embarrassed about that since Mythal and Ghil’nain’s designs are not remotely the same but I was completing the customizing late at night before I went to bed so mistakes can happen😅). Luckily I kept my save file so I discovered you can create a preset from a previous Rook you made so I didn’t have to go through making her again.

Anyway, for all that trouble, I finally have photos of my PCs:

Here’s Lilith (my Mourn Watcher, Elf-Mage, Rook)

She's very pretty, I love her🥰 (I cannot stop taking screencaps of her in every cutscene lol). She’s wearing one of the N7 armors in this in case anyone’s curious and the Mourn Watcher tattoos on her face instead of Vallaslin. She’s romancing Neve.

I always knew I wanted to make Lilith a Mourn Watcher and being an elf again just felt right. But I didn’t expect to make her a mage. Throughout the games I went from a female human rogue -> male human mage -> male elf rogue -> female elf mage. Felt like a good full circle moment for my canon world state❤️

She’s also very different from my other PCs—she can appear standoffish and wary of others until she knows them better, with a bit of a sarcastic streak, but also has a lot of compassion and isn’t afraid of standing up for what’s right. She will tell people exactly how she feels without being brutally honest. She doesn’t care what anyone thinks as long as she knows that what she did was right. Also she thinks Solas is a complete asshole😅

I tried my best with the character customizer but changes were inevitable given the games are literally years apart (IRL and in-game wise). Long hair looks good on him though❤️

I'm using this mod to change the regular outfit to the blue and silver version as I personally find the original outfit ugly and I wanted something to complement his original Inquistor outfit (also a couple hours in I discovered that BioWare put the inquisitor in regular citizen minrathous clothing…why?🙃 I don’t even think it has to be armor, it could at least be something more unique lol)

I was going to make a second post with observations I had during my playthroughs…but it’s been so long now and I didn’t plan ahead so that’s not happening. I will post Dragon Age/Mass Effect mod lists post eventually to correlate with my Sims 3 mods list.
