i will never understand how some people can actively shit on something they know someone loves and finds joy in right in front of them. how can you hate something that makes someone else happy in this absolutely fucked world in front of them.
its the passive aggression for no reason i will never ever understand or do to others. if you have a passion, fucking LIVE it. if nothing else, passion gets us through every shitty day, and i will always support it.
have passion in spite of those who hate.
#its absolutely mind boggling to me#and genuinely makes me so fucjinf upset#i was sitting next to my sister who has been nicer to me than usual as she is talking to her online friend and im doing my nails silently b#its her polish and i didnt wanna take it out of her room. but i look up and shes ranking music genres which is all cool. but without#hesitation as the first one at the most bottom tier she put kpop. like i understand its not her cup of tea but i was like okay thats#something that actively makes me wanna keep living yaknow. and she knows that. so i was like#‘interesting placement for kpop’ and she didnt say anything so i said ‘im not sure youve listened to it enough to have such a violent#opinion on it’ and she immediately got angry saying shes ‘heard enough’ and then got mad at me for saying that saying why was i being ‘like#this what the fuck’ and my heart genuinely sunk into my ass but i couldnt leave even though i felt like crying bc i only did one hand and i#was drying at that moment plus i didn’t wanna make it a big deal. but this is not the first time she’s actively hated on my music without#prompt from me and it just makes me ????? like. music taste differs with everyone i understand this and i respect it. if something brings u#happiness then i would love to hear and listen even if i wouldn’t choose it myself. but being a bitch about it. idk#ultimately its the fact of being mean for no reason over someone else’s passion makes u a fucking asshole#:)))) im not crying bye#ashley rambles#to delete later#my mom and brother do it too btw. hating on it and making sure i hear it.#my mom was doing it the other day and my 7 year old nephew kept saying ‘pook i love it. i think its cool’ and it made me cry because kids#have the capacity for such unaltered kindness as the world has yet been cruel to them#idk man

You were really excited because the butlers were arriving today. Now they couldn't actually move into their apartment for a few days so they were staying with you until they could. Caspian offered to let Matty sleep in his room, of course Caspian will be there too but Caspian's bed has a trundle for the younger boy. Now you tried to offer your room up to Hank and Maya but they refused so you bought a blow up mattress for them. They have a pack N play for Paisley, their newborn daughter, to sleep in. Now most of all you were really excited for Chris to meet Maya, you were very nervous for him to meet Butler though. Butler treats you like his little sister, you're also scared because Butler was Senior's best friend.
Really you're scared how everyone you met during your years as an Army wife would react. You kept in touch with most of Senior's buddies. Sure you didn't message daily but they'd check up on you and your kids every so often. You told most of them since it's been 7 months. Butler knows, he's known since before the rest, you're just nervous. You want them to like each other, especially if you and Chris work out, since then they'll probably see each other a lot.
"Mom!!! They're here!" Connor screams from the front door where he's been watching the road for probably an hour waiting for their car to pull into the drive way. You hear two sets of feet come trampling down the stairs as you begin making your way from the living room to the front door.
The door swings open as your sons run outside. You smile to yourself as you walk outside following your kids. You watch as your sons greet their aunt and uncle, and cousins. You then hug the two adults and their sons before you finally greet the baby.
"Hello there princess." You coo. "She's so precious! Aw, Maya she has your eyes!"
"Can I hold her?" Connor asks.
"Yeah in a little while sure." Maya smiles.
———
"My boyfriend and his daughter are coming over for dinner to meet you guys. Butler please play nice." You tell him.
"Don't worry munch I'll play nice. Besides his background check came back clean." He smiles.
"Yeah don't mention you did that."
"Fine.x" he smiles.
"Ah I can't wait to meet him!" Maya says excitedly.
"Yeah. You're gonna like him, but I don't know about Butler."
"I'm sure I'll love him." He laughs as he rocks the sleeping baby. "Just as long as he doesn't think about hurting you or my nephews."
"I don't think he's thinking about that." Caspian laughs as he walks in with Matty on his back. "This little stinker is getting too big for this."
"Hey you gotta be strong for football this year. You're playing again right?" Hank asks.
"Yep! I'm running back, on varsity!" Caspian says as he goes to the couch and drops the five year old onto it. "With my friend Jackson he's the wide receiver and my other friend Henry he's the kicker."
"I'll have to go to some of your games." Butler smiles.
"Yeah!"
"Can you come to my baseball games too?" Jace asks.
"And my soccer games?"
"I'll go to all three of you boys' games. I'll bring Paisley she can be your cheerleader see." He lifts the baby carefully before doing a squeaky voice, "Yeah go Jace! Go Casp! Go Connor!" The room busted into laughter as the doorbell was rung.
"I'll get that." You said as you stood and walked to the door. Chris stood there holding Juniper on his hip. "Hey! Come in."
"Hey baby." Chris smiles. "Hey don't worry I'm a very likable person they're gonna love me, also I brought this little girly everyone loves her." He says noticing that you're nervous.
"Yeah, hey june there's a boy your age for you to play with!"
"Boys have cooties!" She argues.
"Don't worry this one doesn't."
"Fine." You laugh as you lead them into the living room. Butler stands immediately looking at the father daughter pair. Chris notices him quickly, especially that he is at least a few inches taller then him, and very intimidating.
"Hello, I'm Butler." He puts his hand out to shake with the shorter man.
"Chris nice to meet you." The shake hands, as they both hold their daughter.
"What's your name?" Butler asks June.
"June!"
"That's a beautiful name." Butler smiles, "this my daughter, Paisley."
"Okay, Chris this is Maya and Matty. Maya, Matty this is Chris and June."
"Hello!" She smiles.
"Hi. June bug? How bout you go play with Caspian and the boys?" Chris asks.
"Okay!" Chris sets the girl down before the kids go outside.
"I expected you to be taller." Butler states. "You really looked taller in your movies."
"Well I expected you to be shorter, so." Butler cracks a smile at Chris' joke.
"Thank you she looks like her mom."
"Good one." Your smile grows, you are so happy that they get along.
"You're daughter is adorable." Chris comments looking at the sleeping baby that Butler is holding.
"I really thought he was gonna try to fight him." You whisper to Maya.
"Just wait it's bond to happen."
"How little do you think of me." Hank gasps.
"Very little."
"So mean. This is the woman you're dating, she's so mean." Hank begins to pretend to cry.
"Hank, stop being dramatic." Maya laughs sitting on the couch.
"Alright. I'm going to get a beer, anyone want one?"
"I'll have one please."
"Okay."
———
"How long have you known Y/n?" Chris asks looking at the other man. You and Maya were in the living room, the men were fetched to get drinks.
"About 20 years now. Me and Richardson were in basic together. And I met her at the graduation, oh everyone in our platoon was so excited to meet her he wouldn't shut up about her." Butler chuckles.
"Really?"
"Oh yeah, man was really head over heels for her. He told every single person there about this girl back home. He was made fun of, none of us thought it would work out until we met her." Butler said as he opened the fridge. "Juice pouch?" He jokes holding up a box of capri suns.
"Sure." Chris laughs. "So this guy was really something huh."
"Yeah, hey look. Y/n is 38 I know she can protect herself but if you ever lay so much as a finger on her or those boys outside? There's about 15 soldiers who wouldn't hesitate to protect them." He says not looking at Chris.
"Don't worry I promise you I won't do anything to hurt them on purpose." Chris promises looking outside.
"Good."
"Hey uh do you know if there's anything that could I don't know help the boys like me more?"
"Here." Butler pulls out a folded paper. "Don't tell y/n. Senior tossed this is the box right before we buried it a week before he passed. He put me in charge of giving it to the right person so here you go." Chris looks at him confused but took the paper.
"Thank you..."
"Don't tell her though... I don't mention it, I only told her about eight of the letters."
"I won't tell her."

Keeping Up With Seijoh Ep. 7
a/n: im sorry but takeru could take my uwus like hes so adorable yall 🥺😭
anon:
-LETS BE HONESTTT WITH OURSELVES. oikawa bringing takeru to practice cuz he forgot he promised to watch him n so he asks you to watch him while he rushes off to change— and then takeru goes OFF after he hears that YOURE the person uncle tooru keeps talking about. he basically just exposes oikawa, gets on your good side w all the embarrassing blackmail material he can provide, and oikawa comes back to you grinning like a madwoman HAHAHAHAHA c,:
tumblr moot:
-‘ Omg Takeru spills to his mom and grandmother how Oikawa had a crush and how awkward he is around this girl. Which leads to them inviting her over without Oikawa knowing. He comes home one day, a lil upset because yn wasn't at practice only to hear her giggling with his mother and sister while having tea ‘
NOW THIS IS THE REAL TEAAA!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
TAKERU IS SUCH A MOOD MY GOD IMAGINE HAVING A CRACKHEAD UNCLE LIKE OIKAWA!!!!😭😭😭😭
uwu yes i love this req so lets start
so basically
two words:
uncle oikawa
bahahaha no not really but yes really tho
anyways
this is going to basically be the scenario where takeru has accepted you as his auntie
so sit down my little grasshoppers because this is finna be a long one
it all started when oikawa forgot his promise
now,
oikawa prides himself in being a know-it-all and being ‘responsible’ or shit like that but hes,,,,, far from that
like how he was currently running towards the gym where takeru’s volleyball class was at because he forgot that his sister made him promise to pick his nephew up since she was working overtime today
oikawa tooru didnt care about his appearance and the way he huffed as he sonic nyoomed his way there since he was more scared of what his sister would do to him if she finds out he was late
the sight of the gym door has never felt so good
‘TAKERU!!’
he yelled and a head peaked out that belonged to the one and only boy
‘uncle, youre so loud’
he chided and tooru rolled his eyes before grabbing his hand
‘hey, go get your stuff. im late and y/n is going go kill me if im not there’
takeru rolled his own eyes and went at a snail’s pace as he packed up his knee pads and his water bottles
‘TAKERU HURRY UP WHAT-!’
‘hmm,, dont lie uncle. you just want to see the pretty goddess nee-chan’
OKAY TAKERU DANG
so basically,,
its been mentioned that you call the boys a lot or its them calling you and oikawa happens to be the one who calls you constantly
and takeru lives with them and he’s usually up quite late so he hears tooru downstairs while talking to you
like one time, he couldnt sleep and his mom told him to drink warm milk to help him so he was just going down the stairs when he heard tooru laugh
now, dont get him wrong
hes heard his uncle laugh before so hes seen how he laughs around girls and it was like nails on a chalkboard
but this time, it sounded very genuine and his chuckles were almost,,, shy
and he figured that tooru was talking to a girl since he kept saying a girl’s name
‘y/n-chan~ youre so cute~ dont make me come over there and kiss you~’
oikawa cooed and takeru cringed
so he was talking to you
he was no stranger to your name as he once teased his uncle for being whipped and got an hour long rant about how beautiful you were and nice and angelic and how you were just an angel on earth
so yea he knew you
tooru’s voice became clearer as he stepped foot into the kitchen
even a child like him could tell his uncle was basically in love with you
and he doesnt even really know what love is!!
‘disgusting’
the child said and tooru, who believes in ghosts and is the biggest scaredy cat, shrieked at the sudden voice
‘oikawa-san? what’s wrong?’
your voice could be heard through his phone but tooru quickly told you good night and ended the call before he got off the chair and crossed his arms to stand in front of takeru
‘what did you say?’
he asked and takeru looked up at him, mimicking his pose
‘i said, its disgusting, uncle’
oikawa looked offended
‘what?! how could you say that?!’
takeru shrugged then he walked over to the fridge
‘yozora-kun told me that girls have cooties and we would die if we get it’
god it was such a childish thing to say but to an actual child like takeru, it sounded perfectly valid
‘its gross and nasty and he said you get all sweaty and you get a fever and ew’
tooru shook his head in disbelief before going over to help the boy get a glass
‘its not nasty or gross or disgusting, takeru. its actually,,, really nice. you dont die from it and you get sweaty when you get nervous and you dont get a fever, you just get flustered, thats all’
takeru still didnt believe him
‘well, he also said girls become monsters and they would eat your face’
KFJDSLFJSLDKIM SCREAMING
oikawa chortled
‘what?!’
‘you heard me. all girls are monsters and you should protect yourself, uncle’
but when he met you, my oh my, you were no monster
you were,,,,,, really really really pretty
poor takeru doesnt really know the real meaning of beautiful so he settled on you being really really really really pretty
like when oikawa dragged him in the gym, takeru stared at you
his mind couldnt process on the fact that someone as pretty as you even existed
but that doesnt really say much since hes only like 8
BUT STILL
oikawa was hurriedly shoving them both in the gym and he was annoyed that takeru was just standing there but he was really just watching you as you scurried around to give the team their towels
‘takeru! come on!’
tooru’s voice snapped him out of it so he finally walked forward
‘y/n-chan~!’
oikawa called out and iwaizumi was about to yell at him for being late but you already had your bad bitch face on and you were strutting over
‘oikawa tooru, do you know how late you are?!’
you scolded and pulled his ear down to your height
‘eeeehhhh~~??? y/n-chan dont be so rough! it hurts! dont hurt oikawa-san!’
he teased to ease your anger but you sucked in a sharp breath
‘ill make sure it hurts more’
oikawa turned pale and started pleading and stuttering
‘please pleaseplease y/n-chan, i had to pick up takeru and it was a total mess and-’
at the mention of takeru, you let go of him and you finally caught sight of the little boy
ohmygee he was so adorable and youre just a sucker for adorable kids so you kinda squatted to his height since the height difference wasnt that big
you gave him a big smile and waved a hand
‘hey, you must be takeru. im y/n’
the poor kid’s face turned red unknowingly and he stiffened before nodding aggressively
‘my name is oikawa takeru and i am 6 years old’
he hand out his hands to prove his age and you giggled before nodding
‘my name is l/n y/n and i am 16 years old’
you held out 10 fingers then switched to having 6 up like he did
‘waaaa youre,,,’
the boy paused to subtract with his fingers before looking up at you with wide eyes
‘youre 10 years older than me!’
you sweatdropped at the sudden thought of being old
‘hmm i guess i am’
you tilted your head to the side and continued to talk to the boy, completely oblivious to the stares from the others
they all sported a bright red blush and red ears at the thought of you being so good with kids and what if it was their own?
kindaichi gasped and held his hands to his face to cover the burst of all shades of red that decorated his entire face
OHMYGOSH THEYRE SO WHIPPED WHAT
‘ne, nee-chan, i know you’
takeru spoke as you led him to sit down on the bleacher, away from the practicing team and from any rogue balls
‘oh? you do?’
‘eung! uncle talks about you all the time! and he calls you too! i live with him, see, and nana yells at him for being on his phone during dinner because hes talking to you’
takeru admitted and you turned red, suddenly flustered
‘he talks about me? what does he say about me, take-chan?’
the little boy paused, holding his chin to think, then he lit up
‘he calls you beautiful goddess y/n-chan!’
YALL TAKERU IS SO CUTE WHAT THE HECK
‘he does?’
you asked, wholeheartedly surprised
takeru violently nods his head
‘yes! uncle talks about you all the time! my friend yozora wants to meet you too!’
‘hah? who is that?’
takeru sheepishly scratches his cheek
‘yozora-kun told uncle that girls are gross but uncle got mad and told him you were different because you were pretty and nice and yozora wants to see if you really were’
you laughed at the childish claims of this yozora boy
‘well,,, take-chan, do you think im gross?’
you asked, making the boy flustered again
‘no,,,, nee-chan is really pretty’
he mumbled while twiddling his fingers and you squealed before hugging him
‘oh, take-chan! you should visit more often!’
takeru nodded, smiling at how warm you were
‘eung! i love nee-chan! see? i can say i love nee-chan because im not a coward like uncle!’
you pulled away just slightly with a raised eyebrow
‘what are you talking about, takeru?’
the child puffed out his chest and his lip took on a smug angle
‘uncle talks to the mirror every morning! he says hes practicing! he takes forever just saying he loves you in the mirror and he doesnt let me pee! but its okay! because uncle can keep being coward but i get the pretty nee-chan!’
a disbelieving smile settled itself on your face and you absentmindedly caressed his smaller hand
‘what else does uncle do, take-chan? you see, nee-chan wants to tease him!’
takeru paused then lit up
‘oh! before i was born, mama told me uncle ate flowers because he thought his fart would smell like roses!’
‘hah?!’
your cries of shock made the boy laugh and you joined in with him
‘also! iwa-nii made me a tree house, right?! and uncle wanted to go in but he was too big so he got stuck at the front door! iwa-nii had to take the front part out and used soap to get him out!’
your cackles attracted the now ready captain and oikawa had an uneasy look
that little brat mustve told you some embarrassing stories based on how you laughed
‘oi! takeru! you shut your mouth right now, young man!’
he shouted and quickly stomped over to you at the bleachers
but you held the boy close, protecting him from the angry brunette
‘no! you stay away, oikawa-san! nee-chan will protect you, take-chan!’
you proclaimed and takeru was more than happy to snuggle closer and stick his tongue out at his uncle
you had a similar mischevious look and a wide but scary grin on your face that spelled nothing but trouble
was he,,,, being blackmailed right now?
tooru was scandalised at the thought and the act causign him to lunge over to you, tickling your sides so you could loosen your grip on the child
but you held on, giggling loudly causing takeru to also laugh when tooru’s fingers would touch his side too
‘no! stop-! ack-! tooru!’
you shouted but tooru was able to find an opening to grab takeru by under his arms and you reached over to grab him back but he was already lifted high
‘now what did you tell her, you brat?’
‘nothing!’
takeru shrieked but tooru hummed, not quite believing him
‘i dont think so’
tooru sat down on the floor and placed takeru on his lap with his fingers quickly hitting his ticklish spots
‘NOOO!!!! UNCLE!!!!’
you giggled and joined over, completely forgetting where you were and what your responsibilities are
okay can we take a second on how cute this moment is?
like despite the team practically being in love with you, they couldnt help but think of how much you guys looked like a family
iwa herded everyone to stop staring and keep practicing bc he knew that this was the first time tooru has been truly happy in a very long time
by the end of practice, you and takeru were practically best friends already
you were very sad to have to let him go home but he promised to come back soon
tooru gave him over to iwa so he could talk to you while you were packing up
you were putting on your jacket when you felt him tap your shoulder
with a smile, you turned around and he mirrored your grin
well,,, it was more like a shy and bashful grin
from behind him, you could see takeru being lifted by mattsun and his laughter echoed in the wind
tooru noticed your gaze then chuckled softly
‘thank you for,,, yanno,, keeping him busy’
you waved your hands around with a laugh
‘nonono! its okay! really! hes so adorable that i look forward to seeing him again!’
he let out a relieved sigh then placed his hands in his pockets, rocking on the balls of his feet
‘y/n,, youre really good with kids’
that comment made you flustered but you waved it off
‘nah, i just connect with them more. theyre so easily entertained and the innocence is nice’
‘well,, youll be a great mother in the future’
you chuckled then ruffled his soft hair
‘youll be a great father in the future then oikawa-san’
at first, he was just going to laugh it off but then the image of you playing with a child who possessed chocolate brown locks and beautiful e/c eyes appeared
he turned red and he fumbled for a response, completely speaking gibberish with no idea of what to even say
unfortunately for him, the team was not in a far distance and they could hear oikawa sputtering nonsense so to ‘help’ him, they started shouting for you guys to hurry up
‘come on! lets go, you guys! the bakery closes in a 10 minutes!’
makki yelled and you perked up and waved to signal you were going
‘come on, oikawa-san!’
you grabbed his hand and pulled him along
takeru noticed his uncle’s red face and a cute sly smile creeped up on his face
‘hmmm,,,,’
then he started a plan
and wow god must’ve wanted him to succeed because its like the fates and the stars and the universe just aligned
takeru was walking with his mom around a supermarket when he noticed your familiar h/c hair
‘y/n nee-chan!’
he shrieked before he could even stop himself and you were startled, wildly looking around for the person who said your name
‘nee-chan!’
takeru shouted again, running away from his mom towards you
‘takeru-!’
yall what is oikawa’s sister’s name? lets name her ‘tara’
tara shouted for her son and ofc ran after him when he didnt listen
‘takeru!’
you greeted back and winced a little when the force fo the little boy crashed into your legs
‘nee-chan! momma, look its nee-chan!’
takeru said when his mother caught up to him
‘oikawa takeru! you never run in the store like that again, you hear me?’
she scolded but then smiled up at you
‘oh hello darling, you must be y/n. im tara, tooru’s older sister and takeru’s mom’
she outstretched her hand for you to shake so you awkwardly shook it
‘uh-im l/n y/n’
‘momma! shes the pretty nee-chan i told you about! and shes the one uncle talks to every night!’
you cringed a little when takeru was excitedly talking as he was attracting other people with his loud voice
tara bless her heart noticed your discomfort and told you to go and follow her to the checkout if you were done
she ended up paying for your stuff despite your protests but she excused it as ‘consider this as payment for putting up that idiot brother of mine’
takeru wanted to show off so he held your bags but you still held on to their own to help tara out
‘ne, nee-chan! why are you not with uncle? its practice today, right?’
takeru asked as you three walked down the street
‘natsu’s sick so i was picking up some porridge for him to eat. i excused today because i wanted to take care of him’
takeru lit up
‘nee-chan! you should come over! nana wants to meet you too!’
tara rolled her eyes at her son with a smile
‘no, take-kun. nee-chan needs to go home to look after-’
‘ah, its okay, oikawa-san! natsu wont be awake for a while so i can spare an hour or two’
‘yey!’
tara made small talk with you while takeru hummed in front of you
‘thank you so much for putting up with my two boys, y/n. i heard from hajime that you kept takeru company while tooru practiced’
you nodded
‘it wasnt a big deal though. i love takeru, hes a sweetheart. and oikawa-san takes good care of him’
tara chuckled
‘as much as takeru loves to poke fun at tooru, he really does appreciate him you know? without a father, i worried on who would be his male figure. but tooru lived up to his title and takeru wants to do everything he does. like say, volleyball’
you followed along and you could see the little bits of tooru even by the way takeru walked
the little skip that his uncle had seemed to copy itself on to the nephew with even the happy humming
‘oikawa-san is,,, a really great person’
you off-handedly mentioned and tara looked at you from the corner of her eye
warmth blossomed in her chest because although she knew how much of an insecure and rash person her brother was, he deserves someone who talks about him with such love in their voice
even the look in your eyes was enough to make her think,
yep, you are the one
omg nana oikawa is ltr head-over-heels for you already
the love for y/n is an oikawa thing
when takeru opened the door, nana oikawa rushed to greet her grandson when she saw another person
a girl
‘nana! nana! this is y/n nee-chan! uncle’s pretty goddess!’
uwu nana knows who exactly you are
lets just say shes exactly like takeru and has witnessed her son lovingly talk to some y/n girl at 3 in the morning
and her son has expressed his love and admiration towards you every chance he can
so yes lets just say she knows who you are
thats why nana brightly smiled and quickly ushered you into the house
‘oh come in! come in! takeru-kun, go lead y/n-chan to the couch and make her comfortable! ill get tea!’
takeru nodded and he grabbed your hand with his small one to go to the living room
you awkwardly sat stiffly, not exactly knowing what to do as this entire family seemed to know who you are
takeru settled himself beside you and was actively talking about what they did at volleyball practice today
you were enamored in his story that you didnt notice nana walk in with a try of tea with tara trailing behind her with cookies
you moved to help her but nana shook her head with a gentle smile before sitting down at the chair beside the couch
‘here you go, dear’
you bowed slightly and held the cup of green tea
everyone was now settled and you were nervously tapping your finger against the cup
you dont even know why youre nervous
its like youre suddenly meeting your boyfriend’s family without your boyfriend actually there
‘so,’
you jumped a little at the voice of nana and she smiled at you
‘oh dear dont be so nervous! we’re not that bad! we dont bite’
‘unless you want us to’
takeru whispered and you giggled, ruffling his hair with your free hand
‘so youre the famous y/n-chan then?’
you nodded again
‘takeru told us all about his adventures at seijoh the other day and, well,, he likes to tease his uncle but,, we believe him’
tara smiled, remembering her son’s words
‘nee-chan, i told them that uncle was very weird and shy and awkward and it was so weird’
he whispered, yet still able to be heard by everyone in the room
‘oh my, when we heard that we couldnt believe a person, much less a female, could even do that to him! i worried that my son would never develop interest in any girl but it seems i was worrying for nothing!’
nana giggled and you couldnt help but smile, realizing her laugh sounded exactly like tooru’s
‘you know, y/n, tooru’s never really had a crush before. and believe me, id know but even with his last girlfriend, which was also his first, he didnt seem interested at her in that way-well, maybe he was but he wasnt exactly enamored with her like he is with you’
you knew little about tooru’s first and last girlfriend
it was the butt of mattsuhana’s jokes all the time but you never partook bc you could see how,,, sad,,, tooru looks whenever its brought up
but you turned red,hand waving at her last comment
‘oh nonono, youre wrong. uhh, how do i say this,, oikawa-san,,, he just appreciates me bc,, i,,, reject his advances,, and,,, bring him milk bread,,, and banana milk,,,, and such,,,’
you trailed off and the two older women shared a look behind their cups
heh, it was refreshing to have tooru do the chasing this time
‘you must be wondering how, we, you know, know you, right?’
you nodded at nana’s question
she chuckled then placed her tea down
‘you see, we are aware of tooru’s,,,, expiditions. and by that, we mean the interest of others in him and his returned interest. but hes our family so we know that his interest is,, actually fake’
you looked down, knowing exactly what shes talking about
‘especially with girls, we see his annoyance, his ignorance, and we’re not proud of it. but with you, when he talks about you, its as if he was talking about the,,, the love of his life!’
you were startled, not sure if you should be proud of that or confused about that
‘mom! dont say that!’
tara nagged but nana shrugged her off
‘no, i want to express my gratitude for this girl. y/n, i want you to know now that,,, my son is damaged’
‘takeru cover your ears’
tara hurried and the boy shot his mother a confused look but still did it anyways
‘tooru,,, feels that he shouldnt burden us as he’s now the man of the house after his father and i’s separation. and,,, perhaps its the past of his father’s but,,, he doesnt let anyone in, except for us and hajime’
nana oikawa’s eyes held sadness
a raw emotion that shouldnt be shown to a stranger but by how much and how often tooru talks about you, she practically knew you already
‘and he refuses to do anything that isn’t necessary. he hates doing pointless things unless they will serve him purpose in the future thats why he focuses on that damn sport so much, even giving himself injuries! i worried and worried for him but then,, you came along. all the sudden, i see the life in his eyes that was wrongly taken from him, be replaced and its all because of a girl. ive never heard tooru talk about someone else other than his team or hajime so it was quite a surprise for us that he found someone who was, what he considers, worth his time. and the way,, the way he looks when he talks,,, y/n, i believe you are what he says, an angel’
a sudden wave of tears appeared as nana oikawa looked up to meet your eyes and you let out a stiff laugh but you tightened your grip on your cup
‘you are,,, my son’s angel’
DKFLJSKDFJDSLKFJSDLKFJD MY FEELS
the conversation was quickly shifted by tara as she could see the conflict in the way your eyebrows furrowed and the rapid movement of your pupils
she knew that you were probably still at a stage that you didnt realize your captain’s real and authentic feelings for you and she didnt want you to find out this way
tara knows how emotional her mother can get regarding her son so she switched to another topic to not get too in deep with the whole situation
next thing you knew, you were giggling and laughing at nana oikawa’s merciless onslaught of her son’s childhood events
you attempted to hide your laugh by sipping your drink but it still came out wholeheartedly
‘yes! i wondered for a whole week as to why my roses were disappearing and i never would’ve thought id find my son eating them at 6 in the morning!’
nana cackled while takeru was so laugh-tired that he slumped over to your side, completely breathless
‘oh! dont forget the mickey mouse one! you see, y/n, we spent about a week at my aunts house and tooru saw a mouse! the poor child woke everyone up at midnight, screaming about a mouse sleeping next to him! and just to top it off, we visited disneyland and, whew, we just know now to avoid mickey mouse. to this day, that child is still traumatized by that cartoon’
meanwhile at seijoh,
oikawa was sneezing nonstop and iwaizumi has bonked him many many times now
‘OI! IF YOU GET SICK RIGHT NOW I WILL HIT YOU!’
‘OH GREAT! ILL BE SICK AND HAVE A CONCUSSION AT THE SAME TIME! THANKS IWA-CHAN!’
tooru irritably snapped and iwa was even surprised at how snippy he was
‘oi, what crawled up your ass and died today’
oikawa pouted then stomped his foot like a child
‘y/n isnt here today’
‘oikawa shes taking care of her cousin! she has a life outside of us you know?’
makki teased but flinched when tooru stomped his foot harder
‘but im her life! im all she needs!’
the entire team sweatdropped at the sight of makki and mattsun holding back their bara arms vice captain from beating up their captain
‘ill be sure to give him mickey mouse stickers next time!’
you teased and they laughed
there was still remaining giggles left when the door handle twisted and the front door opened, revealing the man of the hour himself
takeru perked up and ran to the door to greet his uncle
‘uncle! uncle!’
he exclaimed and tooru sighed before grinning at him
his ears twitched at a familiar muffled giggle but he thought nothing of it by excusing it as him missing you so much that hes now hearing you
the thought of you dampened his mood again
‘uncle is too sad to play with you, takeru’
takeru’s head tilted to the side and one eyebrow was raised
‘heh? why? iwa-nii bonk you too hard?’
tooru shook his head solemnly
‘no. my darling wasnt there today and-’
‘oikawa-san, welcome home’
you emerged into the small hallway and tooru’s jaw dropped
then he snapped out of the surprise and ran straight towards you, picking you up and twirling you around
‘Y/N-CHAN~~~~~!!!!!’
he cheered and you giggled, trying to hold on to his shoulders to stabilize yourself
‘dont be so loud, oikawa-san’
you chided but with a smile
tooru calmed down however he still held you in his arms and was looking up at you with a grin, completely missing the fact that youre even at his house
‘its so nice to have y/n-chan greet me at the door. its like i have a wife! you wanna be my wife, y/n?’
you blushed a deep red and flicked his forehead
‘oikawa-san, your mother and sister is-’
you whispered harshly but a sudden shout made you both turn
‘NO! NEE-CHAN IS MY WIFE! NOT UNCLE’S! SHES TOO PRETTY FOR A COWARD LIKE UNCLE! I WILL FIGHT FOR NEE-CHAN! SURRENDER, UNCLE!’
you and oikawa looked at each other exasperatedly but with a fond look in your eyes
‘go’
you whispered
‘avenge me, oikawa-san’
that was enough for him to drop you gently and run to tackle takeru, who was giggling and kicking the air
you returned to your spot on the couch but shrunk back at the smirks the two oikawa women were directing to you
nana oikawa wanted you to have dinner with them so you stayed and oikawa held your hand under the table
even though they could obviously see it but yanno just stay quiet
‘y/n-chan, as much as i love you being here and meeting my family, how did you get here?’
takeru proudly raised his hand and swallowed his food
‘I BROUGHT NEE-CHAN HERE! I SAW HER AT THE MARKET!’
tooru nodded and reached over to ruffle his head
‘thank you, takeru! you turned uncle’s bad day to a good one!’
you turned to him with a worried look
‘huh? did something happen while i was away?’
tooru shook his head and pouted at you with his puppy eyes
‘y/n-chan wasnt there at practice today and oikawa-san missed her very much and-’
‘oikawa-san, please refrain from speaking in third person’
‘BUT Y/N-CHAN-!’
again, the two oikawa women shared a look
yep, you are the one
oikawa naturally took it upon himself to walk you home by saying ‘y/n-chan shouldnt walk home by herself!’
but in reality, he just wanted to spend more time with you because he didnt get to do that today
he just wanted his daily fill of you
O_O
aNYwAys
you both were walking down the street, hand-in-hand
KDSFJLSDKFJ FLASHBACKS FROM THE OIKS ROUTE
‘i love your family, oikawa-san’
you said and he giggled
‘well, just wait a few years and youll be a part of it too’
you blushed and smacked him on the chest making him wince and exagerrate an ‘ow!’
‘your mom,,, really loves you. and your sister, and takeru! theyre really nice and im happy your family loves you so much’
‘what about you? do you love me?’
you hummed
‘eung! i love oikawa-san! and the boys! i love all of you!’
DKFLJSDKFJSDLKFSJD NOOOOO FLASHBACKS AGAIN TO THE KUWS EPISODE OF THEM LEAVING AND OIKAWA TELLING HER HE LOVES HER ANDFJDKFJSDKFLDKJ ACK! FEELINGS!
oikawa had a sad smile on but he didnt push any further
‘well! you met my family already so now its my turn to meet yours!’
you turned to give him a deadpan expression
‘oikawa-san, my father chased you with a broom. i dont think its safe for you to even step foot at my front porch’
oikawa scoffed and puffed out his chest smugly
‘hah! your oikawa-san is a strong man! he doesnt get scared over some broom!’
‘oh! oikawa-san! i need to get your opinion on this! i want to give iwa-san this mickey poster but-’
noticing that oikawa was no longer walking beside you, you turned around to see him staring at the spot you were previously at
‘oikawa-san?’
he didnt answer and you giggled
‘oh? is it mickey mouse? you scared?’
you neared the phone to his face and then his eyes settled on the terrifying face of the disney character
oikawa screamed

The first day Y/N felt like herself and the injuries had mostly healed, Pepper insisted on them going into the city and shopping. With the holidays coming up, they had a lot of events they would be required to attend and Y/n didn’t think that her old style suited her very well. Before going to meet her mom, she stopped by the Ivory to drop off a coffee to Tony and Peter. The former had tried to convince her to bring some guards with her, but she rolled her eyes at his overprotectiveness. She was outside the office texting Pepper, when she heard squeaking. When she looked up there was nothing there. She heard the noises again and followed it into the hallway. Y/N knelt down and stared into the blue eyes of a diapered baby. “Well, hello. Who do you belong to?” she lifted him out and settled him on her hip. As she shook the toy, he babbled at her.
“Jamie? Jamie!” Frantic male voices were heard calling through halls.
“If Jamie is a baby, you’ll find him in here with me!” Steve came flying around the corner, a wild look in his eyes. He lifted Jamie from her arms and hugged him to his chest, kissing his forehead.
Y/n was surprised to see so much open affection from the blond. She tilted her head and stared, “So… who’s is he?”
“Mine,” his eyes never left the baby.
“You have a kid?” Y/N felt a twinge in her heart. Another thing she had missed because of her selfishness.
“You’d know about all of this if you had stuck around.” she winced at the harsh comment and before Steve could apologize, Bucky and Sam came running around the corner, “JAMIE!” They both ran over and quickly checked on the baby as well. The diapered infant just babbled at the three men and shook his toy, basking in the attention.
“If you don’t mind my asking, how did he end up in the hallway in just a diaper?”
Steve glared at his two friends, “I made the mistake of leaving him in the care of these idiots. I have meetings for George all day.”
“He just got away from us while we were having a discussion about what outfit to put him in,” Bucky at least had the decency to look ashamed about losing his nephew.
Sam turned to him and pointed a finger, “You know the whales are much more stylish, Barnes.”
Y/N looked at the men and shook her head, “I can help watch him. We could call it part of my amends.”
“Birdie, you don’t---” She gave him a don’t mess with me look and Steve sighed, “Would you, really? That would be a huge help. He just started crawling and it’s been an adjustment. Obviously.”
“I was going to go shopping with Pepper. I’ll just bring him along.”
“You’re bringing some men with you, right?”
Y/N rolled her eyes, “No, I hadn’t planned on it. Tony tried the same thing.” A mischievous grin spread across her face, “But, since they already had their day cleared to watch Jamie, I’m sure Bucky and Sam will be up to the task.”
“I thought if you would take the kid, I could get some other stuff done.”
“You thought wrong, Buckaroo. Boys, pack your bags. We leave in an hour.” Steve and Y/N walked away, talking about Jamie’s routine. The other two men were left glaring at each other, still bitter about their argument earlier. The duo walked into Steve’s office and were greeted with a baby explosion.
The blond cursed under his breath, “I swear this room was organized when I left an hour ago.”
“I believe you, big guy.” She patted his arm, before turning to Jamie and picking him up, “Okay, little man, let’s get you dressed.” Y/N made quick work and blew a raspberry on his stomach when she was done. A huge smile grew across her face when she heard the baby giggles. She looked up and saw a strange look on Steve’s face, “What? Is there something on my face?”
“It’s just so strange to see you again.”
“Stevie…”
“I’m not saying this to make you feel bad. I’m glad you’re back. I’d forgotten what life was like with you around.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean let’s face it, Birdie, you have the nickname for a reason. You never stayed in one place long enough and it was exhausting the amount of energy you had.”
“Am I still that same person in your eyes?”
“Some of it is the same. It was always hard to imagine you settling down. But, the minute you are around kids, it’s an entirely different story. If you ever decide to settle down, you will be an amazing parent.”
Y/N’s heart clenched at the thought of her secret. She felt herself starting to get emotional and busied herself by going through the diaper bag. Once she had herself back under control, she smiled up at him, “Well, you made a damn cute kid, Stevie.”
“Don’t I know it,” he smiled down at his son. Y/N couldn’t help but laugh to herself at the imagery of the large man holding such a small child. “Okay, Jamie, be good for Birdie. I’ll see you later. Oh, and here’s a key to my truck and the apartment in case you’re done before I am.”
“I’ll text you plenty of photos.”
“Thank you for this,” Steve leaned down to kiss her cheek and whispered in her ear, “I missed you more than you know.” He had left her breathless with that last comment and she moved robotically as she put Jamie into the car and headed to meet Pepper. Her mother had raised her eyebrow at her showing up with the baby, Sam, and Bucky, but laughed when she heard the whole story.
While her mother enjoyed shopping, the activity was the bane of Y/N’s existence. They moved quickly through the stores, grabbing what she needed and trying things on. Jamie was on his best behavior, even clapping a few times when Y/N had come out of the dressing room. Despite the fact that they all knew it didn’t mean anything, anything the baby reacted to was purchased. By the time they had finished, everyone was dead on their feet and the baby was knocked out in his stroller.
Y/N decided to let Pepper take all of the clothes back to the house and she went back to Steve’s apartment to put Jamie down for a proper nap. Walking through the door was like entering a time capsule. The only difference was the addition of baby things. She walked through the hallway and looked at the pictures and framed sketches on the wall. Y/N stopped in front of a picture of them from Tony’s infamous Christmas party four years ago. Steve had been her guard for over a year at that point and the two of them had spent practically every day together. It was hard to believe how much the two people in that photo had changed. As she moved further down, the sketches she had stolen and framed for him still had pride of place. Her musings were interrupted by her phone chirping:
Steve: I’m sorry, but meetings are running longer than planned. Are you okay with Jamie? You can bring him to Becca if you have plans.
Y/N: No plans. I’m happy to stay. You focus on work. Little man and I got this.
She walked into the kitchen and found a drawer of takeaway menus and the cabinets only filled with food for Jamie. When he woke up from his nap, she pulled her shoes on, “This won’t do, little man. We are going to the grocery store." Y/N strapped Jamie to her chest and walked to the nearest store. They made quick work at the shop, filling the cart with essentials. Once she got back to the apartment, she put the baby in his high chair with a snack. Music filled the kitchen as she danced around.
Steve came home and followed the delicious smells and music playing. He found Y/N in the kitchen, dancing with Jamie in her arms. He leaned on the door frame, watching her hips sway as she switched her focus between what was on the pan in front of her and his son. Birdie Stark was definitely not a teenager anymore. He walked into the kitchen and put his hand on her waist, making her jump. “Jesus!”
He chuckled and took Jamie from her, “Nope, just me, sweetheart.”
“You scared the crap out of me.”
He apologized, but didn’t sound that sorry. He stared down at her, thinking how the flush on her cheeks from the heat suited her. “Are you making dinner?”
Y/N suddenly looked nervous. “I’m not overstepping, am I? You said you’d be working late and I thought I’d help out,” she looked up at him and smirked, "Plus, I saw the takeaway drawer.”
“It’ll be a cold day in hell when I’m mad at a home cooked meal. But from what I remember, you once set fire to a pot of water.”
She threw her head back and laughed, “That was almost five years ago, I will have you know. My skills have vastly improved. Y/N realized how close she and Steve were standing. She pulled away and felt his hand slip away from where it had been resting comfortably on her waist. He cleared his throat and turned his attention to Jamie who was babbling at him.
Y/N dished up two plates and got Jamie’s bottle ready. “Birdie, you don’t have to do that. I can feed him and eat after.”
“You’ve been at work all day, Steve, and I know for a fact you forget to eat. I don’t mind, really.” She settled herself on the couch with Jamie in her arms and her plate on the arm. . He held his own bottle and she ate a few bites while staring at the baby in her arms. She was entirely unaware of Steve watching her,
He rubbed his eyes and took a pull from his beer, “I can’t believe it’s only 7. I feel like today will never end.”
“Did you say 7? Shit!” Y/N looked worried, “I need to go.” She had forgotten that she had made an appointment with a doctor to make sure that she wasn’t pregnant. Her paranoia had taken over and she had to be sure.
“Why? Where are you going?”
“Birdie, you’ve been going all day. Just reschedule.”
“I can’t, Steve.”
“Why not?”
“I can’t tell you.” They sat in awkward silence, the only noise coming from Jamie and he hungrily sucked at the bottle. She kept her eyes on the baby and whispered, “Are you mad at me?”
Steve sighed and came to kneel down in front of her, “Why would I be mad at you, sweetheart?”
She ran a finger over Jamie’s cheek, biding her time, “Because I’m keeping secrets. That tends to make others angry.”
“God, Birdie, no. I’m not angry. I’m disappointed that you think you aren’t safe to share, but i never want you to be scared of me.” Y/N nodded sadly. Steve wanted herto tell him everything, “Want to help me put Jamie to bed?
She shook her head and passed the baby to him, “I should go. It’s late.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’ll just call for a driver. You haven’t seen Jamie all day, you should spend some time together.” Y/N grabbed her bag and jacket, and leaned over to kiss the wiggling child.
“I have tomorrow afternoon off, want to go for lunch?” Steve tilted her head up to meet her eyes, “We can go to Galletti’s.”
“Yeah, I’d like that.” Y/N got on her tiptoes and kissed him on the cheek, “Night, Stevie.”
He grinned, “What have I told you about calling me that?”
“Follow through on your threat and I might actually take you seriously.”

CAN CHILDREN SEE GHOSTS? 17 SPINE-CHILLING TRUE STORIES THAT PROVE THEY DO
Have you ever found your child talking to “someone” when they were alone in their room? Is it simply an active imagination or could it be a visitor from beyond the grave?
For most parents, when their child tells them about their new imaginary friend, they simply put it down to their child’s active imagination. Completely normal… right? Well, I wouldn’t be so sure. It’s a widely held belief that some children can see and connect with those who have passed on. A popular theory is that we’re all born with the ability to connect to the other side but, as we grow up and become more cynical and disbelieving of all things unknown, that ability disappears. The following chilling true tales of imaginary friends and unseen visitors in the dead of night might go some way in proving that our children can and do communicate with the dead.
Parents beware, you’ll be checking under the bed and in your closets after reading these horrifying supernatural encounters.
1. THE BELIEVER
I believe that there are happenings on this earth that cannot be logically explained. I’ve always been a little skeptical, but I didn’t completely denounce that ghosts exists.
However, I’m starting to think they are definitely real, and that little kids can see them.
Yesterday, Sunday, I volunteered to watch the little kids of my church while their parents were out volunteering. Our church meets in the community center, so that’s where I was watching the kids — one baby, and two 2-year-olds – a boy and a girl. And you are right, our church is not very big.
After the center cleared out, it was just me and one other volunteer. She had the baby in a side room, trying to put him down for a nap. I had the two-year-olds in the main room.
I had a “weird feeling” all day, and kept feeling like there was someone standing behind me, but chalked it up to being alone in the building. The kids and I were sitting on the floor and rolling a ball back and forth to one another when the boy asked if we could throw it instead. I said yes and we stood up. He ran towards me and threw the ball just out of my reach. It went behind me. I did not hear it bounce.
The kids looked at each other and started giggling. I whirled around and saw the ball suspended in midair for a split second before falling to the ground. The kids just kept laughing. They started pointing and saying what sounded like “the man! the man!”
That was all the “paranormal” that occurred yesterday. The kids didn’t say anything about “the man” for the rest of the day. It freaked me out, but I wasn’t scared. I just wanted to share.
2. IT WAS JUST A DREAM
My daughter used to tell me about a man who came into her room every night and put the sign of the cross on her forehead. I thought it was just a dream. Then my mother-in-law sent over some family photos. My daughter looked right at the picture of my husband’s father (who has been dead for 16 years) and said ‘That’s the man who comes into my room at night!’ My husband later told me his father would always do the sign of the cross on his forehead when he was young.
3. DADDY, WHO’S THAT MAN?
When my daughter was younger (maybe 2 1/2 years old) she slept in her crib in the room next to me and my wife. One night she was stirring and maybe a little frightened, so I went in to get her and brought her to our room. She was wide awake now in our bed and not scared at all now. She was looking wondrously at the foot of our bed saying “look at the lights, the sparkles….” Kind of playfully she kept mentioning “the lights”. Then she said “Daddy, who’s that man?” Pointing directly at the foot of our bed.
It was definitely unsettling.
We had bought the apartment from a very elderly couple who passed in the apartment a few months earlier. Probably never forget that.
4. THE CAPTAIN
A parent of one of my students told us in a meeting that she was concerned because her son (7 years old) talked about an invisible ghost who would talk to him and play with him in his room. He said the ghost was called The Captain and was an old white guy with a beard. The kid would tell his mom that The Captain told him when he grows up his job will be to kill people, and The Captain would tell him who needed to be killed. The kid would cry and say he doesn’t want to kill when he grows up, but The Captain tells him he doesn’t have a choice and he’ll get used to killing after a while.
I was always creeped out working with that student after that.
5. MY COUSIN TRACY
When my niece was about 4 she had an imaginary friend, which I don’t remember the name of. She would blame things she did on this imaginary friend but also talked about how this friend would watch Scooby Doo with her. One day I thought, why don’t I find out more about this friend. So I asked her to tell me about her friend. And she said, “She’s a she and she’s dead.” And I said okay, “Does she have a job?” and she said, “She does what my Daddy does!” Which is that her imaginary friend was a cop. Okay. So then I said, “Where is your imaginary friend a policewoman at?” and she said, “Right next to where my daddy is a policeman.” And I said okay. But then she said, “I met her when I was in my mummy’s belly. She touched me when I was inside.”
A few months before my niece was born my cousin Tracy had died. She was hit by a train. She loved watching Scooby Doo and had a ton of memorabilia. She was also a cop. She was a cop in the town that is right next to the one my brother-in-law is a cop in, my nieces “Daddy.” My niece’s imaginary friend was my dead cousin. There is no other way she could have known all that at the age of 4.
6. EMILY
when my sister was probably about 6 or 7, she had an imaginary friend named Emily. She told us Emily lived in her closet, wore an old black dress, and had long dark hair and she was the same age as my sister. My sister played with Emily constantly. My parents started noticing my sister acting weird. Just sitting in the middle of her room whispering to Emily quite a bit and acting a lot more distant towards them. I remember a very specific day, my brother was walking by her room and my sister was sitting in the middle of her room….but she turned around and hissed at him. He was scared shitless. He told me it didn’t even look like my sister. My parents ran up to her room and i could hear my sister just screaming and screaming as loud as she “Get out”.
I have no idea what happened in that room but I ran to the bottom of my stairs and the screaming stopped, I saw my parents holding my sister crying their eyes out, she was sobbing as well. I’ve asked her about it today. She’s 24 now. She told me that Emily used to tell her to do horrible things to herself. She actually used to wake up on the roof and not remember how she got there. I’m not kidding. Apparently, Emily absolutely hated my parents so she turned my sister against them. She hates talking about it so I never brought up that specific night. This all happened at my old house. When we moved into a different house, Emily was gone. I’m not making any of this up. My sister’s little friend was a really big deal to my family and messed things up for a long time. I’m just relieved we left that house.
I’m not making any of this up. My sister’s little friend was a really big deal to my family and messed things up for a long time. I’m just relieved we left that house.
7. JESSICA
A little after I was born, my sister Julia had an imaginary friend named Jessica. She was Julia’s friend for a long time, when things started to get a little weird. At first my parents shrugged it off as a normal occurrence, but after a while they began to believe that our house was haunted .One night as my parents put me (about one years old) to sleep, I begin to cry and point at the corner, my mom was still in there and began to try to comfort me, but I continued to cry and point at the same corner. All of the sudden, my sister walks into my room and points at the corner and yells “Jessica stop it!”
Immediately I stop crying and Julia says like it is completely normal that “Sometimes Jessica likes to put on scary masks and scare people”. My mom who was understandably freaked out stammers to my sister “Tell Jessica that if she can’t play nice, she can’t play here at all”.
A couple weeks go by and Julia tells my Mom that “Her eyes turn green when she is mad and her voice gets deeper”. My Mom didn’t know how to respond to this and just said “ok….”
Eventually Julia outgrows her “imaginary” friend and stops playing with her.
A year and a half later my little sister Abbey begins to talk, she then goes on to tell us about her friend that no one else can see. She then tells my mom about how her eyes turn green when she is upset. I remember this distinctly because she dropped a pan and it scared me. She asked Abbey what her name was and she said…
“Jessica.”
8. THE BOY IN THE TREE
My folks’ farm surrounds a cemetery, and my dad and my niece were walking down there. My niece (4) looks up and says “What’s that boy doing up in that tree?” There was no boy, but she insisted there was and could describe him.
9. YOU’RE DOING A GOOD JOB
My wife and I overheard my two-year-old daughter on the baby monitor wake up on Saturday morning and say “what? OK, I’ll tell her” then get up and come into our bedroom and told my wife “Mary says you’re doing a good job.”
Mary was her grandmother that she was extremely close too that passed away.
10. THE MAN IN THE DOORWAY
When my nephew was born, ten years ago now. Around age 2/3 He’d wake up in the middle of the night and when my sister and her fiance went to settle him down he’d be staring at the corner of the room, or at the open doorway saying there was a man standing there, that he came and talked to him at night. Sometimes he was scared, sometimes he was calm, but my sister was terrified!
11. MY FRIEND JOE
Not my kid, but something my mum said I did when I was little.
I had this imaginary friend named “Joe” – was pretty normal imaginary friend stuff to begin with, my parents would ask about him and I’d respond with something like “I like Joe” “He has curly black hair” “He likes to play outside” nothing interesting.
Until one day I come out with “Joe has to work a lot, but Joe’s boss doesn’t like him.” when asked why, I responded with “Oh, it’s because Joe’s black.” As if it was obvious. Now this wouldn’t have been weird at all if I hadn’t grown up in a very small all-white town. And I was about 3 years old, I didn’t know (or rather, hadn’t been taught) that racism was even a thing.
This continued on for a while, I’d mention Joe now and then, sometimes talking about what he did for fun, or his favorite things, other times mentioning that his boss hits him and shouts all the time.
After a few months, I go up to my mum one day and have a conversation that went something like this: “Joe’s really happy today. His boss isn’t coming back” ‘Why?’ “He’s dead” ‘Oh yeah? How did he die?’ “He hung himself from up there” (as I point up towards the attic door).
I don’t remember much of this, I definitely remember having an imaginary friend named Joe.
12. THE LITTLE GIRL
My grandfather had a camp on Lake Dering in NH when I was a kid. One day when I was 6 or so, I fell off of the dock and into the water. I couldn’t swim. While under, I distinctly remember seeing a little girl down there who told me to look up towards the sun and just keep kicking and I’d be fine. I swam to the surface just in time for my grandfather to swoop me up and pull me back on the dock.
And, yes, I found out later that a little girl drowned in the lake near that same spot (of course).
13. THE IMAGINARY FRIEND
When my daughter was three she had an imaginary friend named Kelly who lived in her closet. Kelly sat in a little rocking chair while she slept, played with her, etc. Typical imaginary friend shit. Anyway, fast forward two years later, the wife and I are watching the new Amityville (the one with Ryan Renolds) and our daughter walks out right when dead girl goes all black eyed. Far from being disturbed, she said “That looks like Kelly.” “Kelly who?” we say “You know the dead girl that lived in my closet.”
14. HER EYES WOULD FOLLOW IT
I had tons of experiences like this when my little girl was born a few years ago. From being just a few months old we noticed she’d randomly start looking over at something and giggling, like something was making her laugh. Her eyes would follow it around the room. And sometimes we’d feel like it was stood right next to us or behind us and then we’d noticed she was looking at it, or smiling in that direction. It never caused any problems though, in fact, when she was upset she’d look over at it and start laughing or smiling. And if we couldn’t find something we really needed, suddenly it’d appear right in front of us, when we knew we’d checked there a hundred times.
Stopped around the time she turned two.
15. PUNISHMENT
I was seventeen and babysitting a friend of the family’s six-year-old. he’d been in bed a couple of hours and I just peeked in to check on him. he wasn’t in the bed and when i opened the door wider, I saw he was standing in the corner, facing the wall. creepiest fucking thing ever. I asked him what he was doing and all he did was turn around, smile, and put his finger to his lips as if to say “shhh”. I asked him again what he was doing and all he says is, “leave us. It is the punishment.”
16. HE DOESN’T HAVE A FACE
My son from the age of three always tells me about the “creeper man” who lives in my mom and dads bedroom. He brings it up after he visits them. I made the mistake once of asking what he looks like. My son said “Oh, he doesn’t have a face.”
17. I WAS THE SAME
I tend to be skeptical also, even when I love reading about paranormal stuff, the only thing that has kind of freaked me out has been my nephew a couple of years ago when he was about 2 1/2 years old would talk to a man only he could see at my house and an old lady at his grandparents house.
My mother tells me I was the same, talking and playing with my grandfather for a few months after he died, I would call to him and hold conversations with him and even wish him good night before going to bed.

add yourself to my taglist here!
After meeting through some mutual friends you fell in love with each other. Chris swore he would have married you after your first date. A ring came about a year and a half later, Chris not wanting to call you anything but his wife for any longer. One dream wedding and a month-long honeymoon around the world, you were Mrs. Y/N Evans.
The conversation about kids came fairly early in the relationship. Him coming from a big family, he wanted the same for himself. He wanted a big house in the Massachusetts suburbs, the white picket fence, a couple of dogs, and the kids. He wanted to come home from work being attacked by a couple of kids and seeing you walking towards him barefoot and pregnant.
You were an only child to divorced parents, growing up mostly on your own. You never saw yourself as a mom, but always loved the idea of running after a couple of kids. Never wanting to bring a child into the kind of world you grew up in. The sad and lonely kind of world you endured most of your life. After meeting his family after a couple of months of dating and seeing the way he interacted with his nieces and nephews, you couldn’t help but hope to see yourself raising some kids with him.
He loved the idea of raising a family with you.
Grayson Christopher Evans
You brought your first child into the world not too long after your wedding.
You were in labor for about 16 hours before you were met with the screams of a baby boy.
Your baby boy.
He cried and cried until his skin met yours, calming him down almost instantly. Looking over at Chris who was at an absolute loss for words at the little person calming himself with the sound of your heartbeat. He looked at you for a while before looking back at his baby boy.
Chris couldn’t quite process the feelings he felt that night his son was born. He knew how much he loved you. You knew how much you loved him. But having this little person as a tangible expression of your love and commitment for each other was just beyond him. It was beyond anyone.
Grayson was just like his dad. Almost an exact copy of him if you were being honest. The same big blue eyes. The same soft brown hair. The same everything. Lisa often said how much Grayson was just like Chris was when he was a kid. There was little of you visible in him. Maybe he had the curve of your nose and the shape of your lips. But he was all Chris.
His little personality bubbling since day one. You couldn't have asked for a more perfect baby. He giggled as much as he could and played until he fell asleep with a toy in his hand. You were so lucky to have been gifted this little boy as your first baby. Chris had been struggling to balance work and his responsibility to you and Grayson but never failed to make sure you knew how loved you both were, even from thousands of miles apart.
Eleanor Olivia Evans
After another long labor, you welcomed a little girl into your new family of 4. A tiny little girl who, just like your boy once did, calmed themselves down at the sound of your heart and the warmth from your body. Chris once again sat there just absolutely beside himself at the sight of the love of his life with his little girl on your chest.
Introducing Eleanor, or Ellie, to Grayson was probably one of the greatest moments of your life. Chris walked in with Grayson in his arms telling him that we needed to use our indoor voices when talking to mommy and the baby. Grayson quickly climbed to sit right next to you, not bearing even 1 day away from you. You hugged your little boy and talked to him about meeting his sister. Grayson ran his little hands running along Eleanor’s cheeks as you sat there crying at the moment they were having with each other.
Now with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old life couldn’t have been sweeter. You had hardly been working while pregnant with Ellie, still having to keep up with a rambunctious toddler. Before kids, you were doing some writing for all sorts of movies and TV shows. After kids, you took fewer jobs that require travel and stayed mostly local.
Chris not wanting to leave you at home with a toddler and a newborn had made sure his work kept him close or allowed you and the kids to go with him. You both wanted to make sure you were there when Grayson and Ellie needed you.
If Grayson was a mama’s boy, Ellie was 1000% a daddy’s girl. She refused to let Chris out of her sight if she could help it. She refused to sleep most nights without hearing the sound of her dad’s voice and would cry and cry if he didn’t sing her to sleep. When Chris was pulled away for a week for work you were losing your mind trying to get her to sleep.
After a mild breakdown, you gave in and called Chris knowing even hearing his voice over the phone would calm the baby down. He sat there on the phone and just talked to her. She fell asleep almost immediately and slept through most of the night. You thanked Chris and ended up asking him for voice recordings of him talking and singing so you could play them in case he was pulled away again.
Charlotte Rose Evans
Charlotte, or Charlie as she's been nicknamed by her siblings, came into the world with a crew waiting so patiently for her arrival. By far the most painful and complicated birth you have had, she had quite dramatically made her entrance into the Evans family.
You had been monitored closely the last couple of months of your pregnancy as Miss Charlie tried to make an appearance early. You had some complications about halfway through and your midwife had been worried about possible preterm labor. You had started to have what you knew were contractions at 30 weeks and were immediately rushed into the hospital to try and halt the contractions and luckily succeeding.
You were placed on strict bed rest for the remainder of your pregnancy, not even allowed to stand at the stove making dinner, only getting up to use the bathroom and move from the bed to the couch.
It didn’t make your life with an overactive 4 and 2-year-old easy at all. Chris stayed home 24/7 to take care of you and his mom and sisters rotating taking the time to stay with you to help with the kids.
When Charlie did make her debut both of you were as healthy as you could be. Once again, bringing Chris to tears as another baby made their way into your family. He didn’t know he was capable of loving this much. He thought he had reached capacity after Ellie but the love he had for you and his kids just kept growing as you kept adding on.
If Grayson was all Chris, Charlie was all you. Except for her blue eye, which you figured would be a pattern with your kids. She was a copy of you and Chris ate it up. Eleanor is a perfect combination of the two of you. You could see the traits of you as well as the traits of Chris throughout her. But Charlie was completely you.
Grayson fit right into his role as big brother and protector of the Evans girls. He made sure every night he said goodnight to his sisters and told them he loved them with a kiss on their foreheads.
Ellie was excited that she no longer had to share her dolls with Grayson and would finally have a girl to play with. Charlie looked up to her big sister, seeing her as the most amazing person she has ever met.
Grayson, however, felt like he needed another sibling, specifically a boy sibling, and constantly asked you for a brother. He said to you over and over again that his friends at school had brothers and he needed one so very bad. You and Chris had agreed to stop at 3 but had given into the idea of having 1 more to try and even out the numbers. With Grayson in 2nd grade, Ellie in kindergarten, and Charlie starting Pre-K soon, having another wouldn’t be impossible.
Declan Robert Evans
The 2nd boy and the 4th and final child Chris and Y/N had brought into their world. Another perfect mix of Chris and Y/N.
His birth being the last time you would be in the hospital having a baby made it just that more emotional. You soaked in the first moments of his life just a little bit more. Chris cried just a couple more tears, seeing that angel on your chest for the first time. You admired the father of your children just a little more seeing him introduce the addition to the family to your other kids. Adoring the look on Grayson’s face when you set Declan on his lap, finally meeting the little brother he’d been wanting. Asking you if he could take him to class to show off to all his friends.
Walking around your house Declan’s first day home was more emotional than you had thought it would be. You brought every single one of your babies right through your front door. You had pictures littered around the house of moments in your life you were lucky to have immortalized forever. Knowing you had started your family here made you love everything just that much more.
Declan now 5 years old, Charlotte 8 years old, Eleanor 10 years old and Grayson at 12 years old you couldn’t imagine life any differently. You and Chris celebrated 13 years of marriage and almost 15 years together surrounded by the physical representations of the love you two shared for each other was unexplainable.
You had slowly started to get back into the work you loved doing so much after Declan started school. You were able to work on projects offered to you with Chris and had become an unstoppable duo professionally and personally.
Even having the amazing opportunities to do something you loved to do, nothing would ever beat sitting around a table listening to your kids talk about everything and anything that came to mind. Listening to them talk about what happened at school or about upcoming events they want to participate in was the highlight of your day.
Grayson had been playing with a football the moment he could pick one up. Chris nearly cried when Grayson had approached you guys about doing little league football at the rec center. Chris had been watching Patriot's games with Grayson since the day he was born. Taking him to games with Scott whenever they had the chance. The love for football ran in his blood and when he found out he could play on a team he took the chance as soon as it presented himself.
Eleanor had found a love for music and performing, just like her dad. She had picked up music and singing at a very young age, which probably came from her dad's love of performing. You encouraged her to pursue her love for music by telling her stories of when her daddy was young and used to stand on stage before he started doing big movies. She loved looking at pictures and watching old videos of Chris performing in high school whenever she'd visit Grandma Lisa.
Charlotte had picked up your love of reading and writing as soon as she could. Her favorite day of the week is when her class gets to spend time at the library finding new things to read and learn about. So far a running theme with her is books about nature and animals. She loves sitting down with you in the afternoon and telling you about what she learned in the science portion of her day. She had learned about how plants and animals interact and how important they are for all humans. She told you that when she's big she wants to make sure no one ever hurts plants and animals since they are so important for us.
Declan hadn't quite developed a love for something like his siblings had. All he cares about right now is the kind of snacks his mom packs for him and superheroes. You and Chris had introduced him to the world of superheroes recently, knowing that being in school someone was bound to mention to him about seeing his dad on a movie they watched. He was obsessed with the fact that his dad was a superhero once upon a time. He loved watching Chris' movies and would always ask to watch them whenever Chris wasn't home.
You looked at Chris from across the table as Grayson talked to him about football tryouts and asking him if they could practice after dinner. He felt your eyes on him and looked at you with a smirk and a wink thrown at you before giving Grayson his attention again.
You sat back a little to look around at this family surrounding you, knowing there was nothing better than this.

Where the hell is Kenma?!
Yuri on Ice x Haikyuu crossover
Just so you know, all the figure skaters kids are close with the other skaters so they consider ever skater they're close with family so the whole uncle aunt thing is just a friend thing
warnings: Gay, swearing, etc
Ships: leoji, yakulev, minotayuri
Пока= bye
All Russian is google translated
For the parents the kids will just be calling them by their names unless one parents is without the others then they will be called dad so it doesn't get confusing
Kenma pov
It was 10 alcock at night and I was up playing my video games as usual with Hinata, Lev and some other friends. We were playing a game that was a collaboration between Nerf and Xbox, it was quite good. Not my favorite shooter of all time but it was alright. When the match was over and the 20 second map and round type selection started, my phone rang. I was on a discord call with my friends so they saw the phone going up to my ear. Right when I was about to answer Lev spoke up,
"Who is it?" He asked
"Georgi."
"Popovich?"
"Yeah."
"Who's this Georgi?" Hinata seemed confused but curious.
"Just a family friend of ours." I answered, I don't wanna go into me and Lev being legally related right now.
"Oh, cool!"
I looked down at my phone and unlocked it to see the messages, "I might need to not play this round for a bit I need to respond to these texts." I said
The rest of them agreed and I went back to the messages.
---
Georgi: I was just wanting to remind you that the plane leaves at 7, so get some sleep kid.
Kenma: Thanks uncle Georgi, I'll try.
Georgi: Do you want us to bring the Russian team bus to pick you up from your house?
Kenma: Sure when are yall getting here?
Georgi: 6 prolly, depends on how long Lila and Yakov wanna take. Old asses -w-
Kenma: pfft xD
Kenma: Anyway, I need to get back to my friends see you later.
Georgi: K, get some sleep, my favorite nephew ☆⌒(*^-゜)v
----
I unmuted my mic on the call and spoke after like 5 minutes
"Back, hows the round going?"
I didn't hear my dear Shoyo but instead Lev, "Good, Hinata got tired though and had to leave."
When I was about to say I needed to leave to, Lev spoke again,
"Oh yeah! You should get going, you don't wanna miss the flight!"
Once I exited the game I turned back to my monitor that had discord and moved it back to my main monitor, "I was about to say that."
"Пока" I said, my Russian feeling a little rusty.
"Пока Kenma!"
Pressing the 'end call' button made me sigh with relief, standing up, I walked over to my closet and grabbed some clothes for a shower before bed. I grabbed some long, loose black pants and a old Russian figure skating team shirt that one of my dads got me. While I was walking to the bathroom I was looking through some notes for class and deleted stuff I didn't need since I was going to be in an entire different country for a while.
I got out of the shower, dried my hair and put on my clothes. Once I got to the door, I looked into the mirror and I had an idea, 'Should I put my hair in braids so it'll look wavy tomorrow? Yeah that'll look nice!' I reached over and grabbed two small clear hair ties and put my hair into two braids.
I finally opened the bathroom door and walked back to my room to call it a night and sleep. Once I reached my room I noticed something, "You mother fucker.." I didn't pack my bags for the fucking trip. I whipped out my phone and thought of who I could message, we were gonna be in a bunch of places for skating and I wanted to check for how long, but guess what?! I don't know whos awake!
Right when I was about to wing it, I remembered its like 9 in the morning for Leo de la Iglesia, who is an American skater which I consider family. I guessed he would be up since he and Guang-Hong Ji, his boyfriend typically wake up at 7 to eat breakfast and go on a run together, virtually since they live in different countries but I guess they try. It took a while to find this name in my contacts since my phone doesn't really sort through who I texted recently but instead it sorts alphabetically the only time I would see his name at the top is if I had an unread message from him, which I don't. I kept scrolling reading off the letters as I went. H,I,J,K....
I finally got to L and found his name since I only have like 3 people whos name start with L in my contacts, I opened it and cringed at the date of the last sent message, 'June 1st' which was a happy pride month message. My fingers tapped on the message bar and I started typing quickly.
------
Kenma: Hey uncle Leo ヾ(•ω•`)o
Kenma: Ik this is a weird time to text since I should be sleeping but, you're the only one awake.
Leo: Ey Kozume! 💅 What do you need?
Kenma: I was wanting to know how long the competitions are gonna be , I forgot to pack soo...
Leo: Ah! Well you're going to be on the trip for a week and Georgi's gonna take you back to Japan the Monday afterwards
Kenma: I- Isn't it longer then that? (⊙_⊙)?
Leo: Yes but we know that Neko-
Kenma: Nekoma?
Leo: How ever the fuck you spell your schools name 😑
Leo: Anyway, we know you have a game against Karasuno the next day and we know you would wanna play in that sooo...
Kenma: Cool, thanks.
Leo: Np, see you in America (。・∀・)ノ゙
----
Once I was done snickering to myself at Leo and I's conversation, I walked over to my clothes drawers and got out the clothes I wanted, one formal outfit, some pj's and some casual stuff. I put that stuff in one suitcase and put my miscellaneous stuff in a smaller drawstring bag that had a bunch of video game pins on it. I walked downstairs to put my stuff by the door and when I got there I saw someone come in, it were my dads, Yuri Plisetsky, Otabek Altin and Minami Kenjiro.
I walked up and hugged all 3 of them, "Hey kiddo."
Since I decided to say screw sleep and talk to my parents which is something I didn't get to do much at this time of the year often since they have practice all the time. So we sat on the couch and had dinner while watching tv as a family and talked about their practice
Yuri chirped up while eating some rice, "Mila was being a bitch."
"Oh? What happened?" I asked
"So you know her kid Tendō?"
Minami put his chopsticks down and joined in the conversation, "He's that kid that goes to Shiratorizawa Academy right?"
"So, he's gonna be joining the Russian team since the he doesn't like the Italian team."
"Yet his uncle and other mom is on that team." Otabek pointed out
"Yeah."
"I don't get how she was being a bitch?" I said, trying to get the conversation back to the main point,
"Her ass was bragging about all practice, like shit I couldn't get 2 fucking works out without her interrupting."
We all laughed, and went back to eating.
After we were finished we all were doing the dishes, "Go upstairs and get some sleep kiddo, I'll do the rest of the dishes. Yuri, go get some rest too." Minami said
"Are you not going to America, Beka?" Yuri asked.
The black haired boy shrugged, "No, for some reason my couch decided I'm not going, I don't know why."
Minami was another one of my dads who was staying home, ever since they adopted me when I was 4 he always declined going to any skating competitions that weren't in Japan so that if I ever had an emergency someone would always be there. This meant that only me and Yuri, my blonde, sassy, Russian dad were going to America for the 3 back to back skating events that were happening there.
"I wonder why Lev's not going.."
"Your school doesn't want you both out when a game is so close." Otabek was right I still thought it was stupid since he was looking forward to this event, he's always wanted to go to America after all. But as compromise I promised to send him a lot of photos.
Minami who was still washing the dishes started shoving us out of the kitchen, "Yeah yeah, cut the chat get your butts upstairs and I don't wanna see you two down here until morning!" He said, waving a wooden spoon in the air as we walked up the stairs, laughing.
We reached the upstairs, both of my dads gave me a kiss on the forehead and wished me a good night. I walked into my room and instantly my tiredness from earlier came back to wack me in the face with 5 times the strength of before. I walked over to my bed and just.. flopped.
--In the morning--
My alarm for 5:30 went off and I got up, still tired but meh, nothing a bit of coffee wont fix. I walked over to my closet and got out a hoodie Shoyo gave me, it was a Karasuno hoodie with Shoyo's name and volleyball number, 10 on the back. I inhaled the scent of my lover. I'm gonna miss him but I still can call him. I grabbed a thin t-shirt to wear underneath and some soft black pants with red on the side, after I grabbed my clothes I walked to the bathroom and got changed. After that I took my braids out, my hair looked great!
When I left the bathroom right when I put my foot on the first step to head downstairs the scent of waffles hit my nose, I started to go quicker down the stairs since I fucking love waffles and I am starving! Once I got there Minami greeted me.
"Hey kiddo, did you sleep good?"
"Yeah." I nodded
"Are your other dads not up yet?"
"Nah." I shook my head getting out a plate.
"Before you eat imma wake them up."
I rubbed my forehead before sighing, "Oh god what are you planning, pops?"
"Nothing, let me just..." After finicking with his phone I heard a blast of noise from my parents room and the line I knew too well of "WELCOME TO THE MADNESS" blasted through the door. After like 2 seconds they were up and downstairs.
"You get creative when it comes to waking us up." Otabek yawned while Yuri wiped his eyes.
"I know, glad you're finally catching on~" Minami said, getting sassy, which he normally was this early in the morning.
"What'd you make for breakfast?" I asked.
"Apple waffles!"
I ran to the counter happily, grabbing like 3 fucking waffles.. What can I say? I love apple things!
"Goddamn! Leave some for us!" Yuri teased
"Nah~" I joked back.
When we had just finished our food, we were setting our dishes into the sink and just chatting, we heard a knock on the door. I turned to the clock, '6:00' almost on the dot. "Man when they say they'll be here at 6, they aren't kidding." Otabek said, looking at the bus through the window.
I snickered and got my shoes on, me and Yuri grabbed our suitcases and after my adopted dad kissed my other dads, we were out the door and on the bus. I stopped to talk to Mila whom was driving while Yuri went to go sit in the back by himself.
I tapped the red head on the shoulder, "Hey Mila can we make a stop before we go to the airport?"
She grinned "Yeah, of course, the flight was delayed a half hour anyway for whatever fucking reason."
"Ok, can we stop at Karasuno I uh.. Wanna see someone before we leave.."
Mila let out a quiet gasp before whispering, "Is this the boy you've been talking about?"
I nodded and Mila laughed, "Sure, I don't see why not!"
I gave a light smile and went to go sit down.
--When they stopped at Karasuno, Hinata pov--
"We aren't doing anything special today, hell do what you want if you wanna sit and chat do that, I am giving you a free day before we practice for our match against Nekoma." Couch Ukai explained
We all nodded with a 'yes couch' coming out of all us.
Me and Yamaguchi stayed chatting when our long haired ace, Asahi came in, "Sorry I'm late but there's a bus outside that says, 'Russian Figure Skating Team' outside for whatever reason."
"I wonder why..." I brushed it off though and continued talking to Yams
We kept talking before I heard a familiar voice, "Shoyo? Are you here?"
"Kenma!" I exclaimed before I jumped up and ran to give him a hug which almost knocked him over in the process.
"Hi Shoyo, its good to see you."
"What are you doing here?" I asked, releasing the hug and just holding his hands and I spoke again
"I mean there's a weird bus that says Russian Figure Skating Team or something outside but why are you here?"
"That's my ride." Kenma answered plainly.
"That's your- WHAT!" I was surprised and the others came over
Kenma laughed, "That's why I came here, I wanted to let you know I'm going to be gone for a week."
"Why? Did something happen?" Suga asked from the back
"No, no! I'm going to skate in America, I'll be back for our game though." His answer made me more curious
Noya's voice rang from the right, "When are you leaving?"
"Around 7:30, our plane got delayed but I get to talk with you more, right Shoyo?"
I was about to sit down when the door swung open and there stood someone who looked a bit like Kenma, but different colored eyes and plain blonde hair
"I'm hanging out in here with you kid."
"Yakov being annoying?"
"да ебать его задницу!"
"Who are you sir?" Asked Asahi who was putting away the few volleyballs that were used since most of the team was chatting, it was a free day after all
"This is Yuri Plisetsky, my dad." Kenma explained
"Cool."
I tilted my head, wondering what he said, I knew it was Russian just based on context but I didn't know what, "What was that you were saying?"
"He said, "yeah fuck his ass" My blonde boyfriend translated
"Ooh."
"Well before we go might as well do this," Kenma sighed as he held my hand tighter,
"Dad, this is my boyfriend, Shoyo." Kenma looked nervous.
"As long as he treats you well, then I don't care."
"W-wait that's it?!" Kenma seemed surprised
Yuri clutched his chest in laughter, "I-I'm sorry! Just.."
"Are you forgetting who I am?"
"What?"
"Kiddo, I am a trans gay man who has been married with 2 other men in a poly relationship for 2 years now, what'd you want me to say?"
Hinata looked surprised but also relived, "Really? That's so cool!"
Yuri looked at me and rolled his eyes and messaged the bridge of his nose, "Really? You went for the fanboy?"
"Dad, you're married to one."
"Meh, true."
We were talking for a while longer with me just being lovey as usual when someone else walked through the door and yelled "ITS JJ STYLE!" Which Yuri's dad looked pissed about
"I'll get him out give me a second."
"убирайся отсюда, канадский ебать!" Yuri yelled as he proceeded to shove the man I'm guessing named JJ out
"What'd he say?" I asked
"Get out of here you Canadian fuck."
"Oooh."
With that a new people entered, "Kozume!" A voice called,
"Hi Gramps."
"Whos this?" I questioned with my hand still on Kenma's
"That's my grandpa, Victor Katsuki-Nikiforov."
"That's so cool!"
Kenma blushed and just nodded,
"Does my grandson have a boyfriend~"
"Yep, this is Shoyo."
"So he's the one I keep hearing Chris say you brag about?"
"Mhm."
"We-"
Before Victor could continue I heard a slam
"Двигай своей задницей, черт возьми, свинья!" (Move your ass fucking pig!) And in came Yuri kicking another black haired boy in through the door.
"Yurio be nice you your mother!"
"HES NOT MY MOTHER! AND STOP CALLING ME YURIO!" He yelled back
Victor sighed, "Well we have 2 Yuri's here its confusing!"
The grey haired mans tone quickly changed, "Anyway~"
He helped Yuuri up and waltzed on back over to us, "Our grandson has a boyfriend!!!!"
"Awh that's great!"
"Aaand Shoyo, meet my other grandpa, Yuuri Katsuki-Nikiforov"
"It's nice to meet you."
We talked a bit before Yuuri spoke up,
"We should get going, the others probably wanna get coffee before we go to the airport."
"Oh, yeah, I guess so."
I was sad that they had to leave because Kenma noticed and his face softened because when they were getting up to leave, he gave me a soft kiss on the lips,
" I will call you every chance I get, Ok baby?"
"Alright, I'll see you next week at the game?"
"Yes, I love you."
"I love you too." Those were the last words I said to Kenma in person for a week.
When I turned around I heard someone yell, "KOZUME HAS A BOYFRIEND!"
Lev pov--
Kenma: We're having another fucking flight delay!
Lev: I still wish I could've gone with!
Kenma: I know, you were really wanting to come, right?
Lev: Ofc! I have always wanted to go to America! 😭😭😭
Kenma: Oof
Lev: Hold on the team is worried about you, give me a moment
Kenma: Gl Kuroos gonna be all like 'well why didn't I know?!' or some shit
Lev: mhm 😑
---
I turned off my phone and listened to the rest of the team freak out about the gamer boys missing
"WHERE THE FUCK IS HE?!" Yaku yelled out of panic
"Yaku, I am sure he's fine.." Yamamoto said, trying to keep the peace
"Well we don't know that! Hell! He didn't even tell me anything.." Kuroo was also pissed which just made me wanna chuckle since Kenma was right about Kuroos reaction.
"Uhm..."
"What Lev?"
"Well about Kenma being gone, I know where he is I just thought this was funny."
"So us worrying is funny?!"
"When I know why, yes."
Kuroo rolled his eyes, "Lev, Kenma never talks to you."
"Yes, yes he does, you don't know every fucking thing he does." I snapped.
"Are you sure?" Kuroo retorted
"Whos he dating?"
"I-"
"See you dont even know that"
"Fucking- Whatever just where is he?" Yaku asked
I held out my phone and showed the texts
"Where the hell is he going?! We have a game!"
"Yaku, please shut the fuck up." I whispered.
"What?!"
"Yaku I love you, but please shut the fuck up, he doesn't care about the game right now, he will be back for the game with Karasuno, but he is with family and doing something that will contribute to his future. Now shut up пожалуйста, перестань любопытствовать и дай ему жить!" (please stop prying and let him live!)
"..."
I took a step back, I swore my boyfriend out... I even yelled at him in Russian!
I felt like I wanted to cry, I didn't wanna snap like that.. Then I heard the door open
"HA I KNEW HE WOULD CUSS SOMEONE OUT! Виктор! ты должен мне 20 долларов!" (Victor you owe me 20) I turned to the voice,
"Oh praise god." I sighed
Yurio was walking up to me, "ты в порядке? ты выглядишь напряженным .." (are you okay? you look tense)
"Я огрызнулся на своего парня, и я устал, угадай" (I snapped at my boyfriend and I'm tired, guess)
"What are they saying.." Yaku was confused
"Well apologize you fuck!" Yurio scoffed
"..."
"Sorry sir, but Lev is fine, I was the one who deserved it."
"I'm still sorry!"
"Even better question! Lev, you can speak Russian!?" Kuroo seemed surprised
"Yeah, I just didn't wanna hear the, 'oh! Say my name in Russian' or, 'say something in Russian!' that gets annoying fast!"
"Oh, Beka has the same problem whenever he says he's from Kazakhstan."
"Anyway, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the airport with the rest of the Russian team."
"We would be in the sky by now is the plane would stop getting fucking delayed!"
"Well let the team rest in here! Its probably hot as fuck in that bus."
"Smartest thing you've said all day, Levochka." And with that he left
"And who was that?" Yaku's tone was serious so I beckoned the team over to the bench to explain
"So you know how I have left practice early?"
"Yes?"
"That's because I do figure skating and I am hoping to go into it full time when I am older and that person who was here a bit ago was a part of the Russian Figure Skating team."
"Nice!" Someone commented from the end of the bench
"Levochka!" A voice called,
"DAD!" I raced to meet the voice and gave a big hug to my father, Victor Nikiforov and gave my other dad, Yuri Katsuki a hug when he entered short after.
Yaku came up from behind, and kicked me, "YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOUR PARENTS WERE FAMOUS SKATERS YOU FUCK!"
Upon seeing that the Russian team was pissed, "Держи свои гребаные ноги от него, ублюдок размером с муравей!"
"I still don't know what yall are saying.."
A voice came from the back, "Georgi said, "Keep your fucking feet off him, ant-sized motherfucker" I recognized Kenma's voice quickly
"Ey! I thought you would stay on the bus!" Yurio called
"Well, I finished my level and I have nothing else to play until a few daily bonuses roll in."
"Kid you run through games like me and Lev run through a thing of pirozhkis.."
"Meh I keep myself entertained."
"KENMA?!" Kuroo called, ran up and started to shake the boy
"I WAS WORRIED WHY DIDNT YOU TELL US WHERE YOU WERE GOING?1"
"Because it doesn't concern you, besides its not like I'm gonna be gone forever.."
"Kozume I am your best friend! You tell your best friend this shit!"
"Uh..." Kenma stuttered
"What?! Is there anything else you wanna tell me?!"
"1: I don't owe you shit and 2: Lev and Shoyo are my best friends, Теперь слезай с высокой лошади, ты трахаешься" (Now get off the high horse, you fuck)
"That's my boy!" Yurio cheered
Yuuri shook his head and turned to me, "Anyway, Lev can we pull you and Yaku to the side we wanna talk to you two."
I nodded and grabbed Yaku's hand and we exited the gym with my dads
"Levochka.. Are you sure he's the one you want?" My dad asked gently
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you said that this was your boyfriend when we talked about it before but are you sure he is what you want? I mean he kicks you and gets physical it seems a lot. I just want for you to be safe." My dad explained.
Yaku looked nervous as my dead continued, "Hell even Yurio when we adopted him, was never physical with anyone who didn't deserve it.. Minus Yuuri but you get what I mean."
I grabbed Yaku's hand, "I know but Yaku's trying and that's all I can really ask.."
Yuuri started to talk "Lev please be safe." His face was one of worry
"I'm sorry Mr. Nikiforov, I've been trying my hardest to not be as bad as I was, I am trying for your sons sake, I wanna make him happy.."
"I can see that and I hope you keep trying."
"I will, I care about Lev so much I wouldn't do anything to actually hurt him, I love him too much to do that."
"Th-"
"HEY VICTOR WE NEED TO GET TO THE AIRPORT!" Called Yakov's voice loud from the bus.
"Coming! Lets go!"
After gathering the others they left, till next week will we see them again.

random oc fact: about Olivia 'Libby' Zander:
Tumblr media
under read more ‘cause its long
- born in 16 march 2019. parents originally from Cyprus, they moved in America before Olivia was born. has a younger sister named Helen. their mother died of an incurable disease when Olivia was 4 yrs old, Helen was 2 yrs old. Theodore, their dad, needed to raise them on his own and work to provide for them
- usually a more lonely wolf, she focused on her studies than to get out in world. during college, she went to a party held on Harvester Day (i guess) and met Ryan Hudson (7-8 yrs older than her) who back then, was a officer in the army and was charming and very kind. they had fun at the party and kept contact. she also met Michael Hudson, Ryan's brother.
- her dad, who was a very kind, but unphased man, was not so glad that her daughter started to date a soldier, or how he called him, military dog. he had a bad feeling towards Ryan, and even asked Olivia if she is sure or even should consider the other Hudson brother (he liked Michael more than Ryan). in the end, he gave up and let them marry, with the condition that Olivia keeps her last name, and any offspring they will have, all will have the last name Zander. Theodore considered that the Hudson name is too american.
- she got married when she was 24 years old, right after she graduated college
- almost 2 yrs before she had her son, Olivia has stepped in to help raise her nephew, Vincent Hudson, as his mother didnt cared at all, and Michael was away on his duty (was an army medic). taking care of Vincent made her wish to have her own child.
- she gave birth to her son, Vaughn Aleksandros Zander, when she was 26 yrs old, on 13 february 2045.
- in the first few years she has raised both boys on her own. her husband and her brother in law were away in their duty, while Vin's mother prefered to hang out with her friends than to take care of her son. when Vaughn was around 5 years old, Olivia took a job as pharmacist on night shift. she also taught both boys how to cook.
- when Vin was around 10 yrs old, his mother left the Hudson family for her boss and took Michael's car and money. he needed to go one more time in the army, then retired to take a postman job, so he can take care of his son. Olivia had expected this thing from her ex sister in law, and felt sorry for Michael. even that her husband disapproved, Olivia had helped Michael with money until he got up on his feet.
- Olivia and Michael are very close, and she stays more with him than with her own (mostly absent) husband. at some point, Michael started to have feelings for her, but never acted on her, as he waited for her first.
- continued her job as pharmacist, even taking extra shifts so she can afford books and everything Vaughn needed for his studies.
- when her nephew was drafted in the army, she was terrified for him, then faked her son's medical documents, making him unfit for drafting. she knew it was illegal and risked prison for doing this, but she couldnt let her son be drafted too.
- she had not knew anything on how her husband treated their son. she noticed that Ryan became cold and distant, but had no idea how he emotionally and physically abused Vaughn. her son didnt said anything about it as he knew that without Ryan's money they couldnt get by, but after 2 yrs when he got a job too, Vaughn said everything. in 2071, just before Ryan left again in his duty, Olivia divorced of him, and even wanted to move out of the flat with her son. a few weeks pass, and they get the news that Ryan was killed in an ambush. Olivia and Vaughn were happy to hear about and that they can keep the flat, but felt bad for Michael. a week pass, and get the news that Vin was also killed on the battlefield, which ruins them. they tried to take care of Michael, but he died of heartattack 2 weeks later. to make things way worst, Vaughn lost his job at the clinic as the army took it under their control.
- Eleanora Foster, who was dating Vaughn since his college years, had helped him with his depression, taking him out more the house. Olivia was heartbroken but continued to work. both her and her son barely could get by with money. Nora's parents worked in administration, and her father managed to get Vaughn a job as family doctor in the Medical Bay Center. in 2074, Vaughn married Nora. her family also bought them the house in Sanctuary and Codsworth.
- she wanted to get her dad and sister to her son's wedding, but they could not afford the tickets, and also her dad was sick. Olivia could not afford either to go visit them, and was heartbroken. she wished her dad and sister would finally meet Vaughn (as they moved out in Cyprus when Olivia married, so they never met Vaughn), but her son told her that as long as he has her, its all that matters.
- in the year 2077, Nora had bought tickets for Vaughn and Olivia so they can visit their family in Cyprus for christmas and new years. the tickets were never used.
- had survived during the bombs, and after being locked in her flat for 3 weeks, she finally made courage to get out. she took a gas mask, a chest combat armor and a laser pistol (the only things from Ryan that she didnt sold) and got out. she was terrified how people were killing each other or barely living. she got in Sanctuary, but found Codsworth that was malfunctioning. she tried to get to the vault, but was stopped. hoping her son and his family are safe, she went back into the house and took any remaining food and supplies. she then went back to her flat and took some things with her: a backpack, clothes, food, medical supplies and photos with her family. she knew she must find a way to survive.
- she found a group of survivors that didnt shot her on sight. with time, they all transformed in ghouls. despite the radiation that changed her body, her eyes remained the same. she lost her hair, but found a wig that she dyed in her natural hair color, and tied in the same manner her son has: ronin bun.
- they became scavengers and traders. Olivia was also a medic and helped people if needed. not many people were used to ghouls yet, so they were marginalised a lot, or in worst cases, being shot at. there were also times when Olivia had ate nothing but drank alcohol to survive.
- she only presents herself as Libby, as it was the nickname that Michael and Vin called her
- she was never interested in any other romantic relationships. years ago, she realised too late that she really felt so close to Michael. she also thinks that she is asexual, as she never felt any interest in sex.
- after a few decades, Olivia split from her group as they were not aggreing that she was giving out free supplies. she was on her own for a few weeks, until she found Nix, a grieving mongrel mother who lost her cubs and was injured. she seen the scattered dead puppies and the crying mongrel and took care of her. Olivia knew what Nix feels, and the dog decided to stay with her. since then, Nix was her only friend.
Tumblr media
- they travelled across America, doing trades, helping out, Olivia also teaching medical stuff to other people, helping children. she also helped new mothers delivering babies, installing new trading routes, and settling down arguments between groups of people.
- she became an excelent sniper, and she and Nix worked efficient in team
Tumblr media
- she always had her family in her thoughts, and especially her son and nephew, and talked about them proudly. at some point, she thought that even Vin was her son, but remembered she gave birth once, and was 3 yrs difference between the boys.
- she also met my other ocs: my Vault Dweller, Nonè Smith, Chosen One Clovers Smith, Tamir (when she was 10 yrs old) and Gabriella Abbey, my Lone Wanderer.
- she also met mayor MacCready, after he nearly shot Nix. Olivia was more impressed by the kid than upset, and decided that she can help them out. she gave them supplies, helped them out, and all she wanted was to trade stories. despite MacCready's constant insults, they were good friends. he never forgot her kindness.
- around 2288, she hears stories about General Zander and how he saved the Commonwealth. she got interested to see who has her last name. she had no hope that it was her son, but one of the descendants.
- first arrived in Goodneighor and met Daisy, and got info on where to find General Zander
- reunited with her son in Sanctuary, and also met Oliver, her grandson, before being introduced to the Sanctuary family. also reunited with MacCready, and was so happy to see him ending up well and with his son Duncan
- she finally retires and becomes the mama and grandma she missed so much. in present, she moved into Vaughn's old house, which she decorated it. she takes care of the kids, spends time with her son and her new family. she loves Nick and Hancock and sees how good are for his son. she also organize their wedding.
- usually a very cheerful person, she has a certain sad look in her eyes at times. yet if she is asked if she is ok, she will smile and say that she is ok.
- shocks her son by drinking alcohol and smoking and even swearing, as she never done these things pre war. but overall, Vaughn still sees her as the mom he knew.

Chapter 7: Dr. Buford
Chapter 6:
Coming out after a hot bath, Bess meandered around the hotel room and watched the rain drizzle down. The reporter mentioned it would rain every day for the rest of the week. Bummer, how are we going to enjoy New Orleans now? Deep down Bess new that the idea of vacationing was gone now that Nancy found herself a mystery. Joining in on Nancy’s mysteries were fun, and nothing brought a gleam in Nancy’s eyes like a mystery. She’d been like that since they were kids, so really, if it bothered Bess, she would have long stopped being Nancy’s friend. But, she couldn’t deny that it hurt to be tossed aside so easily. The only consolation was the rain, at least Nancy had an excuse to hang out elsewhere.
Through the rain Bess saw the yellow-green hue emanating from the sign of Zeke’s curio shop. It really was a doozy of a place, though Bess felt bad that she dumped a bottle of sneezing powder onto Lamont. The poor guy didn’t even suspect her and blamed customers moving things around. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed the food truck and an old man who sat at a patio table reading a newspaper. Bess’s stomach rumbled. Well, it wouldn’t hurt to eat a bit while finding out about the old man.
 Bess hurried over to the food truck and placed an order for crawfish. She then moved towards the old man and asked if she could sit by his side while she ate.
“Now why would I object to having such lovely company in this lovely rain we seem to be having?”
Bess smiled and pulled out a chair. Southern hospitality was about to meet Midwestern friendliness.
“Are you, by chance, Dr. Gilbert Buford?”
“That I am miss--?”
“Marvin. Do you know a Dr. Bruno Bolet? He passed away recently”.
“Of course I know him. He was my friend, not to mention my patient. Whole of New Orleans knows about the Bolets”.
“Right,” Bess started on her food. “I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about him?”
“Now why would you want to know about Dr. Bolet? You look to young to be spending time with an old coot like him”. Gilbert lowered his newspaper and looked thoroughly at Bess. He’d never see her around Bruno. The only young person Bruno kept around him was that curio shop owner Lamont.
“Dr. Bolet was you friend right? I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about him. What was he like? How did he die?”
“I would prefer a topic of a happier nature, but I do not want to be inhospitable,” Dr. Buford hesitated.
Score one for hospitality!
“I was Bruno’s friend, however, I cannot say he was mine”.
“Oh? Why so?”
“Fact is, while socializing with my fellow people, such as you, give me happiness, it did the opposite for Bruno. He was an eccentric man, an acquired taste. And the older he got, the less he seemed to care about how his idiosyncrasies negatively affected others”.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, take his nephew for one thing. Never talked to him. Never even talked to me about him. Never talked about his family. He wasn’t an egoist, but some might take it that way.”
“Did his idiosyncrasies ever bother you?”
Dr. Buford hesitated before responding. “There were times when Bruno was plain ridiculous. But, how should I put this?” Dr. Buford rubbed his hand on his chin in thought, “A mad scientist has sound reasoning and end result, even if it’s strange and abnormal to the rest of us”.
So it’s a matter of perspective? After his statement, Gilbert looked out into the rain for a while and Bess had to wonder how personal his last statement was. If Dr. Bolet wasn’t Dr. Buford’s friend, why did he react like so?
“For such an eccentric man, surely only an eccentric death suffices?” Bess quipped, hoping it would draw Dr. Buford back into the conversation. The old man turned and smiled, the orange light warmed his dark skin. He looked haggard and it struck Bess that Dr. Bolet died not too long ago. Grief acted in mysterious ways.
In an old professional voice, Dr. Buford answered, “He died of myocardial infraction likely caused by age-old atherosclerosis”. He then laughed at Bess’s confused expression. In all his years of study, he never understood why doctors gave such long complicated names to diseases when simple names existed. He once asked Bruno this as a jest, but the dentist spurred up with such vigor, declaring the whole medical industry as a farce. Everybody stared at them with the outburst and Gilbert asked himself again why he hung out with Bruno when the man did nothing but embarrass him.
“He died of a heart attack,” Gilbert clarified. “All too common with old age and with people who are socially isolated. “Apparently, the Bolet family has a history of heart attacks in old age, though none of them were health related”.
“So they were all fit as a fiddle, then one day, boom?” Bess asked.
Dr. Buford nodded. “Odd one, that family. But then again, this is New Orleans. Here the abnormal is normal, for those of us who are really in it, that is”.
Bess waited for the man to explain what he meant, but Dr. Buford did not elaborate.
“Funny thing was,” he said, “Bruno wasn’t always so recluse. Sure he was more reserved than others. The whole Bolet family was, but Bruno—well, after his brother’s death, something in him just broke, I guess”.
“How do they know it was a heart attack? Did they do an autopsy?”
Dr. Buford shook his head. “No. Given Bruno’s age, his family history, and the absence of foul play, an autopsy was declared unnecessary. His body was cremated as per his wishes. Funny thing is, he was the only member of his family to want a cremation”.
“Who decided to not do the autopsy?”
“Why, me. I was there when Bruno died. Saw it happen”.
“What happened?” Bess urged forgetting about her food.
“Well, I hadn’t seen him for a while so I went to visit him. When I arrived, the door was unlocked, as usual. I opened it and saw Bruno lying on the floor in obvious distress. Next thing I know, his housekeeper comes running up and just stared in shock. I sent her to call the ambulance. Then I—“.
Gilbert paused and thought over what he was going to say next.
“Well, I bent down and saw he wasn’t breathing. I pulled him away from the door and began to do chest compressions. I kept doing it till the medics arrived but nothing they did made a difference”.
“And Dr. Bolet was unconscious the whole time?”
“Yes,” Gilbert sighed. “Yes he was. One mercy I suppose”.
“You said you came to meet him, why then was he at the front door?”
Dr. Buford stared oddly at Bess. “You ask a lot of questions. You a reporter or something?”
“You guessed it sir. I am a reporter. Given that this is the Bolet family, it’s only natural everyone wants to know what happened in all the details”.
“Well, I don’t know if it’s any of the public’s business, but I suppose I could tell you. You’ve been nicer than the other reporters”.
Score one for friendliness!
Dr. Buford looked up and thought over Bess’s question. “Wait a minute. Why, yes—he was holding something. A piece of paper. And on the floor was an envelope”. Dr. Buford turned sharply at Bess, eyes widening in realization. “He must’ve collapsed after reading that letter!”
“Do you remember anything else?” Bess asked, leaning towards Dr. Buford. The story was finally getting good.
Dr. Buford chuckled. “Miss reporter, it’s quite a miracle I’ve remembered this much”. But the man still thought hard. “The odd thing is the letter. It was no longer in Bruno’s hand when the paramedics arrived. He might have let go when I moved him, but then it would have been lying around nearby and I did not see any paper around the area”.
Dr. Buford pressed his fingertips together as he went through his memories. Then, it dawned on him and he let out a grin.
“Iggy”.
“Iggy?”
“Bruno’s pet iguana. Bruno let all pets roam around the house freely. Iggy soon developed an irritating habit of stealing paper and stockpiling it in the vent system. I can’t recall how many times his housekeeper would call, asking for another copy of the medication because Bruno brought it home and left it on the table for Iggy to snatch up. Iggy must have taken the paper that day”.
“Did you see Iggy that day?”
“No,” Gilbert confessed. “But Bruno told me he was training Iggy to retrieve the things he’d stolen”.
“Dr. Buford,” Bess waited a moment before going forth with her question. “Do you think it’s possible that the housekeeper caused Dr. Bolet’s death? Maybe anger or vengeance or greed? Maybe she horded his pills and gave it all at once or something?”
“Young lady,” Gilbert exclaimed. “Are you insinuating that Bruno was murdered? I know you reporters need a good catch scoop, but possible murder is pushing the limits! And besides, if Bruno’d died from an overdose, he would have looked and reacted differently. No,” Dr. Buford hit the table with his hand. “I am certain it was a heart attack”.
Why is he so adamant?
“However,” Dr. Buford added as an afterthought. “I know Renee is deeply involved with the practice of hoodoo. As Bruno’s housekeeper, she had perfect opportunity to use it against my poor old friend”.
“Surely you jest! Hoodoo works?” Bess laughed.
“Miss reporter, one thing you should take to heart in your career is to never ever underestimate the power of suggestion. If a person believes something, even on a subconscious level, fantasy can easily become fact.  Who knows what rubbish Renee filled Bruno’s head with. Drink this, don’t eat that, this brings good luck, that brings bad luck. Day in, day out—even if he didn’t believe in the stuff, who knows how much his subconscious was absorbing. Remember he was very old, very isolated, very lonely. He was a vulnerable man”.
“So it is possible that Renee could have caused Dr. Bolet’s heart attack?”
“Now don’t quote me on this because I still say it was not murder, but yes, she very well could have”.
So he doesn’t have a good opinion of Renee. I wonder why? Bess thanked Dr. Buford and hurried back to her hotel. Once inside, she called Nancy and conveyed what she had learned.
 Nancy woke up to crows cawing at each other. For a sweet moment she relished going back to sleep. The bed and pillows were very soft and Nancy was not ready to take on the day yet. Then her body woke her up to her position. One leg was half off the bed, numb. One hand was holding onto her phone. Her notebook was lying open and her pen left an ink stain on the paper. Her arms were splayed out and her back was aching. Slowly she lifted herself up and her bed head came tumbling forward. Her eyes slowly closed but the caws opened them back up. Nature was in no mood to let her sleep.
Nancy recalled her conversation last night. Bess was right in her assumption that Dr. Buford seemed way too quick to make a diagnosis. Then again, he was a doctor. But he provided Nancy with a better understanding of that envelope. Now she was sure that Dr. Bolet was reading a letter from Milo Research and Technology, and Nancy had a hunch it was to do with the whisperer skull. She told Bess about Henry and his illegal sale, and what she learned about the crystal skulls and Bruno Bolet. Bess was silent for a moment, then in a worried voice, asked Nancy if she knew what she was getting herself into.
“Nance, this really sounds like a cult,” Bess remarked, and Nancy had to agree. There was too much hush-hush and a desire to put the past behind. Given how much everyone gained from Dr. Bolet’s death, it seemed like everyone would have a financial motive. Nancy even wondered if Dr. Buford and Renee were working together, but that seemed too cheesy. Not to mention, Bess said that Dr. Bolet did not seem to like Renee. I wonder if she feels the same?
But for now, Nancy had more pressing concerns. Iggy. She had to get Iggy to give that paper. Correction, I have to get Henry to get Iggy to give that paper. He seemed distressed when she bumped into him last night, but said nothing. Wonder if those ghosts came after all. She still could not believe that the supernatural existed. It seemed too ridiculous, but then the mystery was still young, and Henry said he felt nothing, so maybe the ghost thing was just a hoax. Nancy glanced at her phone and her eyes widened. It was nearing noon. She had slept late, but she was usually always an early riser. She quickly got out of bed and hurried to get ready.
When Nancy came into the kitchen, she was surprised to see Henry sitting at the kitchen table, nursing a cup to his head. He glanced up when she arrived, nodded at her, and went back to nursing his head. If Nancy didn’t know better, she would have assumed Henry had a hangover, but it seemed that both of them were beginning their day late.
“Did you eat yet?” Nancy asked. Henry shook his head. Guessing it must be too early for a meal, Nancy opted for toast and butter. She popped the toast into the toaster, and then buttered them heavily. She then poured herself a cup of tea and joined Henry at the table, giving him his plate. Henry seemed surprised at the gesture and mumbled a thanks. They ate in silence. Once the first toast and half the tea went down, Nancy felt invigorated to start her day. She turned towards Henry and started to talk.
“Got a task for you today”.
“Oh? The great detective need my help?”
“Yes, you should be so honored. I’m usually figuring things out myself”.
Henry laughed softly then asked what she needed.
“I need you to find Iggy and see if you can find where he stores the paper he steals”. Nancy pulled out the envelope. “We need to know what letter this envelope carried because your uncle was reading it on the night he died”.
“How do you know that?”
“Bess talked to Dr. Buford. Here,” Nancy showed Henry Bess’s number. She also gave him her number. You can call her if you want to know more about their conversation. Also, if you have any questions for Dr. Buford yourself. Henry took out his phone. He noticed there were two unread messages but ignored them for now. Instead, he quickly added Bess’s name to his contacts.
“Thanks. What else did she say?” he asked.
“Well Bess and I both think that Dr. Buford is trying to hide something. Bess also mentioned that Dr. Buford does not like Renee”.
“And how does Renee feel about Dr. Buford?”
“That’s what I’m going to figure out today”.
They finished their food and Henry took the plates and washed them. This time, Nancy helped to dry them and place them away. Henry then went to Bruno’s study while Nancy slipped out to the garden. Renee was in her usual spot, tending to her plants.
“Hello,” Nancy called out.
Slowly, Renee put down her garden tool and turned to face Nancy. She gave a nod but did not smile.
“Hello dear. Did you eat the rice and beans I left out for you?”
“Oh,” Nancy faltered. “No, I didn’t”.
“Oh”. Renee turned down towards her plants.
“I was wondering if I could ask you some questions?”
“Some more questions?”
“Yes”.
Renee sighed and nodded.
“What’s your opinion of Dr. Buford?”
Renee seemed surprised by Nancy’s question but did not hesitate to answer.
“Dr. Buford is a fine doctor. Treated Dr. Bolet well”.
“So you have no suspicions of his practice?”
“Dear girl,” Renee exclaimed with a laugh. “Why would I have any suspicions of Dr. Buford?”
Nancy took a shot. “Do you think he might be the skeleton man?”
Renee sputtered and Nancy continued.
“You mentioned that you saw the skeleton man too, right? Well from what I’ve learned, it seems that Dr. Buford was the only person who regularly meet with Dr. Bolet. So, it’s likely the skeleton man was him”.
Renee was quiet for a moment, then she said in a low voice, “I don’t know”.
Nancy tried another question.
“Your room, it’s, it’s got markings on the wall. What are they?”
“They are what keeps that dark being away from my room”.
“Dark being?”
“Those voices, they call to me at night. Can’t stand it. So I put those signs on the wall to send those spirits away”.
“Did it work?”
“Oh yes,” Renee gave a pleased smile. “They vanished the day I put them up”.
Nancy hesitated with her next question. “Dr. Buford doesn’t seem to like your practice in hoodoo. Has he ever told you that?”.
“Oh my dear,” Renee sighed. “The world is too complex for this question to have a direct answer. If I said I didn’t believe, then why do I participate in hoodoo? If I do, then everyone is ready to prove me wrong. But, my experiences are mine. I know there is something unnatural about our world. It doesn’t need a name, but if you want to give it a name, give it”.
Nancy groaned internally. In all of her mysteries so far, there was always some logical reason, something that would give way to some sort of explanation of unnatural causes. And yet, she knew that Renee was right. The atmosphere in the San Francisco house, the Mayan museum, Malone’s speakeasy, Camille’s sparks, they all exuded a presence of something beyond the fabricated ghosts, but she never bothered to investigate beyond the mystery. Now it was coming back to bite her. Then, Nancy realized a crucial question.
“Renee, where did you get that doll from? The one on your chair? I’ve seen it before, but only in a remastered train meant to look like something from the eighteen-hundreds”.
“Oh, that old thing? I just found it in a curio shop?”
“Which one?”
“The one where that young man who came over to visit Dr. Bolet works. What was it now?”
“Zeke’s?” Nancy asked.
“Yes! That one. He sells all sorts of antiques. Many of which decorate the manor”.
Nancy thanked Renee then went to find Henry. He wasn’t in the study, so Nancy went up to the secret room and saw Henry standing in front of the open vent, arms crossed. He turned, and when he saw Nancy, he beckoned her towards him.
“Iggy likes to hang out in Bruno’s study. Lots of paper to steal. So I watched him to see where he went. He went into the duct and I remembered this one was open, so I headed up here but he hasn’t come yet”.
Henry turned towards Nancy. “What did you find out?”
“Well, Renee has a good opinion of Dr. Buford. She doesn’t know he is the skeleton man”.
Henry sighed. “So we know nothing new”. He looked towards the vent. “I can’t believe we’re depending on a lizard”.
“Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve relied on lizards,” Nancy said as she snickered. She moved towards the pirate marionette doll. It reminded her so much of the doll in Renee’s room, but the pirate theme screamed Bruno’s jolly roger club. It even had an eyepatch over the left eye.
“Hey, Henry, what eye was the glass eye?”
“Left eye”.
Nancy then noticed that the doll was holding some box with buttons, and each button had a word under it. Bah? Moo? Boo? They were the same words in the hoodoo book Renee had! Quickly she brought out her notebook and pressed the buttons in the order she wrote down. There was another button labelled ‘talk’ which Nancy pressed. Suddenly the doll whirred to life, blinked it blue eye and repeated the words in a low robotic voice. The voice attracted Henry’s attention who snapped his head towards the sound. When the doll finished, it’s eyeball fell out. Nancy caught it quickly and noticed a piece of paper inside the eye. Carefully she pulled it out and opened it.
It’s time to learn about the Bolet family Henry.
Follow the clues to learn about each member.
Learn their roles and duties.
Recognize your own.
Recognizing the scrawl as Bruno’s hand, Nancy continued to read and found that Bruno had created another scavenger hunt for Henry. The first clue was to go to the last denizen buried on Bruno’s guard. There were subsequent clues, but they did not make any sense and Nancy guessed that whatever they would find would make the next clue make sense.
She went over to Henry and silently handed him the letter and the eye. Henry read it quickly and shook his head.
“There’s eccentric, and then there’s uncle Bruno. Come on, Iggy’s not coming. Might as well do something else”.
“Maybe we should give him food? The smell might attract him”.
Henry agreed, then added, “But it can’t be anything that will rot easily. I don’t want ants”.
Nancy rolled her eyes and jabbed her elbow into Henry. “Such a clean freak”.
After a moment, Henry jabbed her back, hesitated, then said, “What can I say, I’m an accountant. I like everything to be organized neatly”.
They came out through Henry’s room and collided into Renee. She looked at them and her eyebrows raised a bit as if she were amused. There was an awkward silence and Nancy, hurried to fill it in.
“Uh, Renee. Can I ask you something?”
“Again?” Renee quirked.
“Um, yes. That box in your room. The one with blue circles on it. Is it yours?”
“No. Dr. Bolet gave it to me”.
Nancy nodded then hurried after Henry down the stairs. As they descended, Renee called out to them.
“It’s raining again. Would you like the beans and rice for dinner? It’s good on a rainy day”.
“Anything’s fine Renee,” Henry said.
“Very well”.
Renee went into her room and shut the door. Nancy and Henry looked at one another and Henry just shrugged and went towards the living room.
“Should we give Iggy the rice and beans?” Nancy asked.
“I don’t need a gassy iguana”.

Pt. 6
~~~
You found yourself  on the deck of the ship with Iroh and Zuko. Iroh stood by your shoulder, Zuko was behind the both of you with a telescope to his eye. His attention solely focused on locating the Avatar.
You yawned into the palm of your hand. You were quite tired. You spent a lot of last night looking for your katana for its monthly polish but you couldn’t seem to find it. Turns out it was underneath your bed.
Iroh took in a deep breath, inhaling the salty sea smell that surrounded him.
“There is a storm coming. A big one.” Iroh announced.
“You’re out of your mind Uncle,” You looked over your shoulder to Zuko as he spoke. “The weather’s perfect. There’s not a cloud in sight.
“I don’t know Zuko…” You said cautiously your eyes locked on the horizon. “Your uncle has much more experience than you, maybe we should listen to him.”
Zuko ignored you, he's been doing that quite often. Since he knows you’re too stubborn to answer why you were banished, he’s being difficult and now he won’t even look at you or listen to you.
“We know the Avatar is traveling Northward, so we will do the same.” Zuko said.
Iroh turned around to face his nephew, you kept your back to the prince. “Prince Zuko, consider the safety of the crew.” He said.
‘The safety of the crew doesn't matter!” The prince snapped at his uncle.
As Zuko made such a bold statement Lieutenant Jee walked onto the deck. He appeared to be quite angered at the prince's choice of words. To be fair you were angered as well.
You turned around to watch Zuko. You saw him approach the lieutenant.
“Finding the Avatar is more Important than any individual's safety.” Zuko said. Zuko turned and entered the ship, he shut the hatch behind him. Leaving You Iroh and the lieutenant together on the deck.
“He doesn't mean that.” Iroh said to the lieutenant. “He’s just all worked up.”
“I’m finding a hard time believing that.” You told Iroh. You walked away from the two and walked below the deck to your quarters. You were tired and you didn't want to deal with a storm.
You lied on your bed thinking, believing, hoping, that Zuko would come to his senses and redirect the ship. However you knew your wishes were futile. This isn’t the same Zuko you knew all those years ago.
With those thoughts plaguing your mind you drifted off into a dreamless slumber.
~~~
A slight pain in your stomach awakened you from your sleep. You sat up straight in your bed, placing a hand on your stomach. You heard your stomach whine for food. You got out of bed and walked towards the kitchens. You assumed you’ve had a decent amount of rest, considering you were less tired than you were before.
You stumbled your way down the corridors and made your way into the kitchens. You pushed open the doors and was shocked to see Zuko on the other side.
“What are you doing here?” He asked you, hostility in his voice.
You brought your hand up to cover your lips as a yawn escaped your mouth. “It’s the kitchens’ Zuzu, I’m here to get some food.” You said as you pushed past him towards the warm stew on the fire.
You reached for a bowl but something latching itself onto your wrist stopped you. You looked down at your wrist in shock and saw Zuko’s hand wrapped around it.
“There’s no need. I noticed how you slept through breakfast so I thought I would get you something to eat.” He told you bashfully, avoiding your eyes.
“Thank you Zuzu.” You said, as you took the prepared bowl of soup that he handed to you.
You gave Zuko a small smile and left the room. He left as well heading in the opposite direction towards his quarters. You took three steps in the direction towards your room before you stopped and turned around.
“Zuko.” You called out towards the princes receding back.
Zuko stopped and looked over his shoulder. He gave you a questioning glance.
You took a shaky breath before speaking, “I think it’s about time I told you about my banishment.”
You motioned for Zuko to follow you. He did so, and together you walked in silence to your room.
As you neared your door, Zuko stepped ahead of you to open the door for you. You gave a small nod of the head as thanks to his actions. You walked towards the desk you had in your room and placed down your bowl. You walked over to your bed and sat down at its edge. You pat the open spot next to you to signal Zuko to take a seat. He did so leaving about a foot of distance between the two of you.
The both of you sat together, bathed in silence, whether it be comfortable or uncomfortable you couldn’t tell.
You took one last deep breath. Looking ahead of You. You began to tell the tale.
“This started around a few weeks before you found me under Zhaos command…”
You stood near the fountain at the palace gardens. You were told by one of the servants that the Princess would meet you here. So you've been waiting.
“Y/N!” You heard a voice call out. It was Azula, Mai and Ty Lee stood behind her. “It’s wonderful that you could make it.” She said with a smile on her face.
You gave a small smile in return. “I’m lucky I had some spare time. My uncle finally deemed me old enough to help him in the forgery. So my schedule has been quite full as of late.” You said with a little laugh.
The trio approached you. Mai gave you a small smile, and Ty Lee practically tackled you in a hug. You had to stumble backwards to catch yourself as your arms wrapped around Ty Lee’s waist.
“It's lovely to see you again as well Ty Lee.” You said with a big smile.
The two of you stood together in an embrace until Azula cleared her throat.
Ty Lee drew her hands from your body and threw them in the air.
“Your aura is practically blinding today Y/N!” She said. “You must be very happy.”
“I am quite happy.” You said, nodding in agreement. “But that’s only because I get to see my bestfriends after so long.” You said turning your head to look at the other girls.
“Let’s go for a walk and catch up shall we.” Azula suggested. You nodded in agreement.
The four of you walked together through the halls of the palace discussing anything and everything. You were constantly chatting and adding to the conversation. It was a very fun and nice way to spend the time.
But you know how the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Zuko became the topic of discussion and you decided to stay quiet throughout. You walked beside them watching your feet. Of course they noticed but none of them spoke out about it.
Azula seemed to be annoyed but you assumed it was because it was your lack of contribution to the conversation.
However, You found yourself speaking up when the question arose.
“Do you think Zuko will ever come back?” Ty Lee asked.
You stopped in your tracks. Looking up ahead of you. Ironically you found yourself in front of a portrait of the Royal Family. The whole royal family.
You looked into the happy eyes of Ursa before your gaze drifted down towards Zuko. He looked happy. You hoped he was happy.
“I hope he comes back.” You spoke up, drawing the attention of the three girls. Your eyes remained planted on the painting of the boy in front of you.
You shook your head before looking at your feet once again. “But what's the point of hoping? We all know he’s never coming back. The Avatar hasn't been seen in 100 years. This is a fool's quest.” You said you looked up at the trio. Ty Lee and Mai had a look of sympathy in their eyes. Azula looked a little standoffish about what you had to say.
“I don’t know why you care so deeply for my brother Y/N.” Azula said, you could hear the spite in her tone. “There’s nothing special about him except for his bloodline.” She said, shrugging her shoulders.
Azula looked up the portrait before giving it a look of distaste. “Let’s go someplace else. I don’t like that painting much.” Azula turned on her heel and went in the direction opposite of the portrait. Ty Lee and Azula followed after her.
You stayed in your spot, giving the boy in the paining one last look before following after your friends.
~~~
It was late at night you had awoken from your sleep. You sat up and looked around, taking in your surroundings. You were in a soft bed, and there was someone beside you. You remembered that Azula suggested that You, Mai and Ty Lee stay the night, but Ty Lee had to train for the Circus and Mai had curfew.
You lifted the satin sheets off of your legs and stepped on the carpeted floor of the palace. You were trying your best to be quiet but you shifting positions must have woken Azula.
You heard a yawn from behind you. “What are you doing awake at this hour?” She asked you, sleep lacing her tone.
“I couldn’t sleep.” You told her. You weren't sure yourself if that was the truth, but it was the only thing that came to mind.
“You know Y/N,” She said as she climbed out of bed and walked to your side. “I can tell when you’re lying.” She finished.
“Really?” You questioned with a smirk, “What's my tell?”
“You sound tired whenever you lie. Like it’s physically exhausting for you to not tell the truth.” She sat down by your side and reached for your hand. Her warm fingers interlocked with yours.
“Do you think Zuko will ever come back?” You asked her.
She leaned over to lay her head on your shoulder. “I must admit, I miss my brother. I miss the days with mom, before my father became fire lord. Everything was much more simple.” She sighed and looked up at you. “You make everything feel simple.” Her voice had an undertone of weakness and vulnerability that shocked you.
You turned your head to look at her, your faces were mere centimeters apart. Using her free hand she reached up to cup the side of her face. She leaned up and pressed a small lingering kiss to your lips.
You didn’t pull away. Azula’s embrace was surprisingly comfortable. You found yourself relaxing and leaning in a little.
Azula pulled away. “Goodnight Y/N.” She said. “And try to get some sleep.” Azula stood up and walked back to her side of the bed. Azula got back under the covers you followed soon after.
You lay awake thoughts of the kiss at the forefront of the brain. You didn’t expect this softness from Azula, and you’d be lying if you said you didn't enjoy it.
~~~
You awoke alone in the bed. You weren’t surprised though. Azula has told you how she spent most of her time training. You got out of bed and changed into a more appropriate training attire. You were thinking of joining her.
When you finished changing you left the bedroom and asked one of the servants where you might be able to find Azula. They led you through the corridors and into a large training room where Azula was practicing her fire bending. Lo and Li stood beside one another critiquing  the princesses' moves.
“Good Morning Azula.” You said as you approached the princess. She just finished practicing some of her forms.
“Hello Y/N.” She said, “Care for a little sparring?” She questioned with a smirk.
“Oh I would love to but I’m afraid I left my katana at home.” You told her.
“I'm sure you’ll be able to find something in the Armory.” She said. “Lo! Li!” Azula said, turning to the elderly females, “Lead my friend Y/N to the Armory and give her the finest katana you can find.” She finished in a commanding tone.
“Yes, Princess Azula.” Lo and LI said in unison as they bowed. The two women left the room, you began to walk after them before Azula called out to you.
“Yes Azula?” You questioned.
She stepped towards you and placed a peck on your lips. “Thank you for being here, and making things simple.” She told you.
~~~
It was nearing nightfall when you decided to leave. You said your goodbyes to Azula and was making your way through the palace gates, when two guards stopped you.
“The Fire Lord demands your presence.” they told you.
“Why is that?” you asked them.
“You have committed an act of tyranny against the royal family.”
“What is this act of tyranny you're referring to?” You questioned them.
“You have engaged in a romantic relationship with the princess.”
“I believe you and I have very different definitions of tyranny.” You told them calmly.
The guards approached up but you stepped just out of their reach. They swiped at you but you dodged again. For every step they took towards you, you took one backwards.
They began to grow tired of your little games. One of the guards shot a fireball in your direction. You quickly ducked and rolled out of the way. You got up to your feet and ran behind a pillar. The guards sent a steam of fire in your direction.
“That's not fair, I’m unarmed!” You yelled over your shoulder. You pushed yourself off of the pillar and ran in the opposite direction of the firebenders. They sent volleys of fire your way but you were just able to dodge them.
You ran back into the palace, turning corners and running through passageways. The only things you could hear was the sound of your heart beating in your chest as well as the heavy footsteps caused by the guards.
You had no idea why kissing Azula could be deemed as an  ‘act of tyranny’. You knew same sex-relatipnships were illegal and frowned upon, but ‘act of tyranny’ is a bit uncalled for and quite harmful if you’re being honest.
You turned a corner and ran into something. You fell on your butt and looked up. You noticed how it was another guard. You quickly got up and tried fleeing, but your attempts were futile as he grabbed you by the wrist.
“Where do you think you're going?” He asked you.
“Preferably home.” You told him, a little out of breath from all that running.
You brought your leg up to stomp it on his foot, but he anticipated your strike and moved his leg out of the way.
You winced slightly as your foot made contact with the stone floor, causing a small pain to flare up in your ankle.
“You have a meeting with the Fire Lord.” The guard told you as he began to drag you down the halls. The other two guards finally caught up with you, and began to follow the guard that held you hostage. They dragged you into the throne room, Azula, Li and Lo were present as well. They all had their backs towards you, their heads bowed down to show respect for the Fire Lord.
Your heart beat began to quicken in your chest as you locked eyes with Fire Lord Ozai. He had a look of disgust on his face. The guards shoved you onto the floor. You kept your eyes glued to the wall of flames that surrounded Ozai.
“Y/N.” The Fire Lord said. “It’s shameful, what you’ve done. You have corrupted my daughter-” He said but you interrupted.
“No offense Ozai but I think you’re doing that just fine on your own.” You said without thinking. You quickly bit down on your tongue. Another slip up like that could get you killed.
The fire that surrounded Ozai grew higher and hotter with his rage.
“You pest, how dare you interrupt me.” His voice was frighteningly calm.
You took a couple of deep breaths to calm down your heart.
“Li and Lo have informed me that you have kissed my daughter. If this was any other fool's daughter, you wouldn’t have had to face me, but this is my daughter. Azula is the Princess of the Fire Nation, the heir to the throne, she is a fire bending prodigy. She is one of the most valuable people in this world. And you engaged in an illegal relationship with her.” He told you.
“To be fair,” You spoke up, “She kissed me first.” You told him.
“Are you implying that Li and Lo, my most trusted and loyal servants are lying to me?”
“Yes.” You said simply. The temperature in the room rose about 10.
“You’re lucky I’m feeling merciful today Y/N.” He told you, there was a look of pity on his face. “You are banished from the Fire Nation, and you are never to return.”
Your heart stopped beating entirely. You opened and closed your mouth, you looked like a fish out of water.
The guards grabbed you by the arms and practically threw you out of the throne room. You fell to the floor, you stayed down for a while feeling defeated.
The guards as well as Lo and Li walked out of the room, they passed you without even sparing you a glance.
You just got banished from your home. You were never gonna see your uncle again. You had nowhere to go.
You heard approaching footsteps and looked up. It was Azula. Her face was stoic. You quickly got up to your feet to face the princess.
“Father says that you have one day to pack your things before you leave.” She told you, avoiding your eyes.
“Did you even try to defend me?” You asked her.
She gave you a questioning look.
“We both know that you're the one who kissed me, so why didn’t you say anything?” You asked her.
“You dont understand Y/N my father is a cruel ma-”
“Not as cruel as you obviously, You knew a relationship between us would be illegal, but you also knew that because of your status your consequences wouldn't have been nowhere near as dire as mine.”
Azula looked angry, but so what. You just got banished from your home, you didn’t care if angering Azula was one of the last things you’ve done here.
“I am the Princess of the fire nation, the heir to the throne-”
“You’re nothing but a sad lonely girl who knows that no matter what she does she will never be good enough for me or her own mother.”
You saw the pain flash on Azula’s face before it was quickly morphed into anger. You turned on your heel and walked away from Azula. Tears making their way down your face.
“Y/N!” Azula screamed after you. “You don’t get to just walk away. I command you to stop.” She shouted.
But you wouldn’t listen.
“Fine, if you won’t listen,” She said, her voice dropping dangerously low, “I’ll make you listen.”
“... unfortunately for me.” You told Zuko, “That was also the day I learned to never bring up Ursa around Azula.”
“Why?” Zuko asked. “What did she do?”
You brought your hand up and reached for your shoulder blade. “She burnt me.”
Zuko looked angered, “Azula has no right doing that!” He shouted as he stood from his seat.
Zuko went on a rant pacing your room going on and on about how it was cruel and unjust.
You sat still, looking at your now cold, untouched stew.
You yawned causing Zuko to stop talking. “Maybe you should get some rest. You look tired.” He told you sincerely.
“I feel tired.” You nodded, you got underneath your cover.
Zuko looked at you. It was quite obvious that he cared for your well being.
You yawned once again.
“Can you do me a favor?” You asked him.
He nodded his head.
“Redirect the ship.” You told him.
You laid your head on your pillow and closed your eyes. Quickly being lulled into sleep.
When you woke up, you expected to see Jungkook’s side of the bed completely empty but instead, he was right there sleeping peacefully, at 9am. “Jungkook! Wake up, you’re late to work!” You shook him lightly, your voice was still pretty quiet. He tiredly turned to face you before letting out a hoarse, “what?” You pointed at the clock, he took one look at it and went back to sleep. “Jungkook, what about your job? Are you sick?” He turned to face you once again, more awake now. “On Tuesday I got promoted to Corporal, I have Saturdays off now.” “Oh.” You were about to go back to sleep, but then you jumped up quickly and Jungkook winced at the storm that was yet to come. “Wait! Why didn’t you tell me, that’s so amazing! I knew you could do it!” Jungkook pulled the blanket over his head to block out your loud excitement and you got the hint. “Whoops, I’m sorry. I’ll let you sleep now.” You smiled to yourself as you quietly left the bed.
All the sleepiness was knocked out of you so you decided to take a shower, but you were genuinely uncomfortable with the idea of going to the communal bathrooms on a Saturday morning. They were generally filled with puke and hungover college students. You recalled Jungkook telling you a while back that you could use his guest bathroom whenever you wanted and thought you would have to use children’s shampoo because he always kept it there in case his niece and nephew had to stay for a while.
You were still in the bathroom when Jungkook woke up. You were in the middle of harshly judging your skin when you heard Jungkook’s voice just outside your door. “Mom, I told you I don’t want to. No, I don’t have a girlfriend, I’m just not interested.” That sentence alone got rid of all your rationality and soon you had your ear pressed up against the door to hear better. “You know what, fine, I’ll meet her tonight. Are you happy now?” You couldn’t hear what was said on the other line so you had no real way of telling what was really going on or who he was meeting which just made you extremely anxious.
“Hey, Y/N. I’m going out tonight to meet an old friend.” You heard him yell from his room before he came out in slacks and a dress shirt, looking very handsome. You were on the couch, reading a book you bought the other day with Jimin. “Help me with my tie, your small hands make better knots.” You rolled your eyes at the underlying insult but you helped him anyway. You couldn’t help but feel a little angry about having to hear him lie to his mother about you. “Ow! Y/N, too tight.” You didn’t mean to smile but you did and he looked at you suspiciously. “My bad.” He took one look at his reflection in the mirror he has in the living room and angrily took the tie off. “It’s too much.” Then he unbuttoned the first few buttons, his toned chest peaking out. “You seem to be trying awfully hard to impress this ‘old friend’” Jungkook leaned down to face you, pinching your cheeks tightly. “She’s just a friend.” He gave you a quick kiss before he grabbed his things and was out the door.
You went back to reading the book you had just started to read but it was growing harder to concentrate the later it got, and once he was finally back, it was 11pm. You were already asleep on the couch, the book on your lap as your neck hung to the side. Jungkook winced at the uncomfortable position and hoped you weren’t asleep that way for long. “Y/N, wake up. Come on, let’s get you to bed.” You sleepily got up, rubbing your eyes to help you see better. You unlocked your phone to check the time and saw it was 11:17. You couldn’t help but wonder what took him so long considering he left at 7 but before you could address it, the warm confines of the bed pulled you into a gentle sleep.
The next day things were extremely tense. If you didn’t initiate conversations it would often go quiet for a really long time. Jungkook was either on his laptop, on his phone or playing a video game. The cycle got a little tedious around 1pm. “Jungkook, I’m bored.” He didn’t look up from his phone, smiling as he messaged someone. “Hello? Earth to Jungkook?” He once again kept his eyes trained on his screen though this time he found the energy to formulate a reply. “I heard you the first time. I don’t know, go out or something.” You frowned, his days off were the only days you could genuinely spend time with him and yet it felt as if he didn’t want to. You weren’t going to beg for his attention, you knew it would just make him mad.
You decided to go shopping, you wanted new clothes and you were in desperate need of a new laptop charger, you were sick of getting electrocuted every time you tried to charge the damn thing. It was a warm day, significantly warmer than any other this crisp winter, you were nearing the end of February so it was natural for the weather to get warmer. “Isn’t it too cold to wear a skirt?” You heard him ask behind you as you put on your shoes. “I literally just complained to you about the weather and how it was going to be 97 degrees today. Maybe if you listened to me you’d know this.” You stuck your tongue out at him towards the end of your sentence, it was childish yet you couldn’t help but hope he would take you seriously with your complaints. “Do you want me to drop you off?” You shook your head, giving him a peck on the cheek on your way out. “Y/N take a jacket- and she’s already out the door,” Jungkook mumbled the last part to himself, shaking his head slightly at your forgetfulness, he knew it was going to get colder later and he knew he was in for an earful about how cold you were when you’d get home.
“And then the lady told me that they didn’t have any more in my size and I was so sad. Jungkook are you even listening?” On his phone, once again, even when the man wasn’t at work he always found a way to make you feel like a nuisance. You gave up, it was like talking to a brick wall accept maybe the brick wall would be a better listener than Jungkook. You were already in bed when Jungkook joined you, though you were facing the closet door and sleeping near the edge. “Jungkook I think I’m going to go back to sleeping at my dorm.” He wasn’t expecting you to be awake, the statement catching him off-guard. “Really, why?” Despite him sounding fairly uninterested, you were glad he even responded. “If I don’t sleep there then I’m basically paying rent for a horribly overpriced storage unit.” Jungkook chuckled at your joke, but he didn’t reply, you took it as a sign that he wanted you out too.
“Ew, what’re you doing here?” Ellen was exhaling a cloud of smoke when you walked in. “I live here, stupid. Stop smoking indoors!” You spoke through coughs, blowing the smoke away and opening the windows. You looked up to see the fire alarm was off, you glared at her respectively. She didn’t care about your concerns, in fact, to show you exactly how little she cared, she flipped you off as you went to your room. Ellen was a lot of things, but you didn’t think she was a genuinely bad person, she was probably just lonely and sometimes you felt bad for her, but then she would start pissing you off again and you’d go back to hating her.
Your room was still the same, untouched. You often came here to study but you began slacking off as spring break was nearing. Ellen was blasting loud music again but weirdly turned it down when you asked her to. Maybe she liked having you back, maybe your theory about her being lonely was true after all. Whatever it was, you were grateful for it.
The next day was a Tuesday, also known as the worst day of the week. Not only did you have two consecutive tutor lessons but your classes ran nonstop from 8am-3pm. After your last class ended you walked to the library, exhausted and hungry. Unfortunately, you couldn’t eat or rest because your first tutoring lesson started at 4 and you had a lot of content to organize. A couple of students showed up 20 minutes early but you refused to say a word to them and they joked about how you should become a lawyer since you refuse to give out free advice but you were not in the mood.
3 dreadful hours later you were finally done with both sessions and you laid your head on the desk sleepily. You were tired enough to convince yourself to forget food and go home. Sure, you hadn’t eaten anything all day but sleep seemed more appetizing than food ever could. Naturally, since the universe seemed to hate you before you could even get up Jimin sat right in front of you. “There you are! You will not believe who I just saw at the cafe.” You looked at him distastefully. “Who?” You played along for the sake of getting it over and done with. “Jungkook, with a very pretty girl.” You laughed, assuming it to be Mel. “That’s just his coworker.” He looked at you with worried eyes as he shook his head. “No, I saw his coworkers when we went to the club, she’s different. She’s Asian, tall, long black hair, you don’t know her?” You shook your head, feeling the exhaustion disappear. “How long ago did you see them there?” “20 minutes ago, I would’ve told you earlier but you weren’t picking up your phone.” You recalled putting it on night mode before starting the lessons. You took said phone out to message Jungkook, asking where he was. He finished at 6pm which should’ve been an hour ago.
You
Where are you, Jungkook?
Delivered
You waited for a reply but you can’t say you were patient, you were growing more anxious by the second and thankfully, almost 4 minutes later, Jungkook replied.
Jungkook
Work, I’m going to be late tonight.
Read 7:28
“What a fucking liar!” Jimin exclaimed from beside you once he read the message. He grabbed your hand and pulled you up. “Jimin, where are we going?” He speed-walked out of the building, making his way to the student carpark and very literally pushing you into his car. “Jimin, where are we going?” Once he put his seatbelt on, he turned to you smiling. “Station, we’re busting his ass.” You whined out loudly. “No, I don’t want to cause drama, he was probably with someone important for work.” Jimin didn’t reply, driving you there anyways. He went in with you and you saw Mel, he pushed you towards her and she smiled your way. “Hey Mel, I was just wondering if Jungkook was here?” You asked her politely, a little bashfully to be frank. “No, actually, he left a while ago.” You nodded, smiling though it really didn’t feel genuine, you thanked her and walked back to Jimin, telling him about what she said.
“Do you think he’s cheating on me?” You were on the verge of crying when you left the building, Jimin quickly engulfed you in a bone-crushing hug. “I’m sorry Y/N but after what you told me yesterday and what I saw, I think he is.” You started crying then, you had been cheated on before but you were 15 and you dated the boy for like 3 days. When you were finally in bed, you couldn’t sleep. You felt sick and exhausted but all you could do was dwell over Jungkook. After the phone call you overheard, the night out he had with her on Saturday and lying to you to see her it appeared that he probably was cheating.
When Jungkook left the bathroom, you had just walked out of the doors of the station lobby. By the time he got to Mel, you were gone. “Hey, did I miss anything?” He asked Mel while looking around the station. He was getting ready to leave after finally wrapping up the last of his reports. He had originally finished at 6 but the Chief called him back in because he needed some reports earlier than expected. He didn’t mind though, after finally clearing up with his old friend (the girl his mother tried to set him up with) that he wasn’t interested in a relationship, he felt a huge weight lift off his shoulders. Mel paused for a moment before smiling. “No, you didn’t miss a thing.
_____
You were having dinner with Jungkook, it was a Friday night and you had barely spoken to him all week. When he asked what was wrong you were quick to brush him off, saying you were sick. You weren’t lying, at least not entirely. For the most part, you were ignoring him because of the cheating suspicions which you were still yet to address. “Y/N, we need to talk.” Your heart stopped then and there, you genuinely believed he was breaking up with you at that very moment for someone else. “…Yes?” Your voice was small and you had barely squeaked the word out before you chugged an entire cup of water out of nervousness. “You already know I’m not a fan of this facade you put on when something’s wrong so, how about you drop it and tell me what’s wrong?” He spoke softly, in a tone that was more friendly than menacing, but you couldn’t ask him, it would hurt too much if you were right.
“Um…I think we need a break.” “We don’t need shit.” Jungkook spoke so quickly and surely after with such a casual tone, causing your mouth to let out a default, “oh, ok.” There was a silence that followed before you realized what you had said. “Wait, no, it’s not okay. I think we need a break.” You spoke more sternly this time, trying to get your point across. You believed that if you took a break, you’d be able to soften the blow on yourself when it would inevitably come. Time heals everything or so they say. “And why’s that?” Jungkook was still eating his steak, though with more vigor than he had before. “Well, I just think that we should take some time to figure out what we really want.” “The only reason we’d be taking a break is if you’re not sure you want me because I’m already sure I want you, Y/N,” Jungkook spoke monotonously, showing little signs of anger but you knew they were there. “Well, it doesn’t seem like it.” There it was, a simple mumble, a quick thought that accidentally slipped out of your mouth, the trigger to your first ever real fight. “Why do you feel that way?” Jungkook was staying scarily calm. In the past few months, you’ve only had a small number of petty fights that meant nothing but he’d always get super angry and it was generally really funny. Now, however, it seemed as if this fight was far more serious than the rest and it scared you with how calm he was.
“Well, you just never have time to do anything and it feels like you prioritise everything before me.” Jungkook dropped his knife and fork, took a long sip of wine before replying. “Going into this relationship, did I not warn you about how busy I was?” “That’s not what I-” “Just answer the question Y/N.” You nodded in reply, trying to calm yourself down in case you got mad and said something stupid. “Did I not warn you that I took my job very seriously and often put it before anything else?” You nodded, though his work was far from what you were trying to criticise. “Then tell me why the fuck you’re complaining about it now?” He was still calm, yet very stern and you felt as if you’d start crying before you let any proper reply out. You forced yourself to keep it together though, you could have a reasonable argument, you’re an ‘adult’ after all.
“I wasn’t talking about your job, I mean your days off. It seems you would much rather spend time with your phone or friends than with me and it doesn’t feel very nice.” He nodded, picking up his knife and fork again before stabbing his steak with controlled aggression. “I’ve spent nearly every one of my day’s off with you. Your comment only applies to a couple of weekends and I know you’re not this upset over that so spit it out. What’s really bothering you?” Your mind told you to keep your mouth shut but your heart desperately wanted closure and before you could realize it you had already blurted it out.
“I think you’re cheating on me.” For the first time since the argument had started, Jungkook had dropped all of his eating utensils and was looking at you. “What?” You felt judged under his stare so you diverted your eyes to your plate of food while you poked at the chicken. “It started when I overheard you talking to your mother, you told her you didn’t have a girlfriend and that you were going to meet someone for her, then the night that you do, you’re dressed all fancy and stressing over the way you look, what was I supposed to think?” Jungkook’s face hardened, his hand coming up to massage his now aching head. “You thought I was cheating because of that?” You didn’t like how it felt so trivial under his words, it seemed pretty damn important. “No, there’s more. Jimin came up to me on Tuesday saying you were out with some girl, at first I didn’t think much of it but when I messaged you, you said you were working even though Jimin swore he saw you at the cafe with a girl. Jimin and I went to the station to see if you were there and you weren’t, you lied to me.”
“No, you’re lying right now because I was at the station, I would’ve seen you.” “No! I was there, you can even ask Mel, I asked her where you were and she said you had left a while ago.” Jungkook’s face fell at the mention of Mel, she knew he was there the whole night, you had to be lying. “What time did you go to the station?” You looked at him, confused. You didn’t know why that was relevant but you answered nonetheless. “Right after you replied to me about you being at work.” Jungkook remembers he was in the bathroom at the time, but it didn’t make sense, Mel wouldn’t lie, she had no reason to, she was his best friend for as long as he could remember, there was no way she’d lie to him.
“Y/N, if all you’re going to do is lie then this conversation is over. You clearly don’t want to be with me but you’re insistent on being the good guy so you try to accuse me of cheating? Seriously? That’s it Y/N, I’m done. Are you happy now?” It was at that moment that you noticed a couple of tears had fallen down your face, you shook your head quickly, not trusting your voice but he already left before you could tell him how wrong he was, his steak half-eaten. You wanted to be with him more than anything in the world, but you were both stuck in distorted versions of the same reality, not one knowing the real truth.
Every time you saw him from then, it was always at that stupid cafe. You avoided going there as much as you could but it became hard when it was the only place Jimin and Alex wanted to go. Alex, yes. She came to you 3 days ago with. A heartfelt apology and a lot of buried confessions, you forgave her but you let her know you weren’t sure you could trust her the same way yet. Nonetheless, you and Jungkook were both still not talking to each other and every time you saw him, your heart broke a little more.
My Love For You Is Never In Doubt
Summary: Happy Valentine’s Day! A walk through Valentine’s day through different types of love. (The greek listed 7. I used 4).
Notes: It’s a lot of fluff. A lot. of fluff. Cause I’m a fluffy cheeseball. Happy (late) Valentine’s day to everybody. I hope you felt love yesterday; remember, love comes in all forms!
Storge: Unconditional, familial Love (Part I)
One of the first Valentine’s days that Peter could remember was when he was 6. He remembered his dad taking him to buy flowers for his mom because “men always treat their ladies with a gift on Valentine’s, Pete.”
He’d asked, in youthful innocence, why he had to get something for his mom if he wasn’t married to her.
“You love your mom, don’t you?” Richard had asked, and Peter nodded rigorously, his unruly curls flying. His mom was his favorite person in the whole wide world, just slightly above his dad, Ben, and May. He was a momma’s boy; of course he loved her!
Richard smiled. “Love can come in all kinds of different ways, Pete. Valentine’s Day isn’t just for girlfriends or boyfriends or people who are married.”
Peter nodded again, this time more slowly, like he was processing the depth of that statement. “Okay, dad. Mommy likes daisy’s, doesn’t she?”
After his parents had died, he’d kept the tradition of valentine’s flowers alive. May and Ben weren’t his parents, but he loved them with a love deep in his bones. They were poorer than Mary and Richard had been, especially with the unexpected expense of a growing boy, so the flowers were scribbled on paper and hung on the fridge rather than bought at the store and placed in vases.
This year for Valentine’s Day, Peter had decided he wanted to do something extra special for his aunt. She’d been through so much the last few years- losing Ben, finding out her nephew was a superhero, getting blipped away for 5 years- yet she’d been his constant, as she always had been. For as long as he could remember, her love was as unwavering and ever-present as the stars, and he wanted to do something to tell her how much that meant.
So, in honor of their almost two-decade-old tradition, Peter was going to draw May flowers. But, unlike the other times he’d drawn childlike scribbles, this one would be special. He even had a teacher.
“No, Peter, you don’t mix the colors like that,” MJ’s exasperation was clear in her voice, and Peter felt his face heat up.
“Sorry. I’m new at watercolor.”
A kiss to his cheek surprised him and deepened his blush.
“I know. That’s why we’re practicing, so when you do the real thing, it’s perfect. Now watch me do it again.”
Trust Fund, Gold Tongue 2/7 (Crygi) - Peridot
A/N: Thank you to everyone who showed the last chapter some love! I’m really enjoying writing this little universe, and I hope you’re enjoying it so far! My interpretation of this prompt is minuscule, but it’s there if you squint, I promise! As always my sideblog is @artificialperidot, and you can also check this fic out on ao3 if you’re feeling extra generous! Hope you enjoy!
Gigi wondered how she came to sit around a table with all four of her parents around one table at the same time. It was a modern day miracle, seeing they all hated each other in some way- even the couples couldn’t stand each other half of the time. But she supposed their family had an appearance to keep up, and she didn’t want to think about how the tabloids would document their secret family hatred if someone leaked the information that they were sitting at different tables in the dining hall.
The tabloids would be absolutely correct, though.
As a little kid, Gigi wanted nothing more than for her families to come together. At seventeen, she realised that the adults sitting opposite from her were all idiots.
Gigi loved her mom, she really did, but her taste in men was appalling to say the least. Her newest man, James, had only been around for about a month, and Gigi was already anticipating the messy breakup, where she’d have to pick up the pieces on her mother’s behalf, holding her whilst she cried and convincing her to get her life together again. It was a cycle that was used to, and one that didn’t look like it would break any time soon. Her mom cycled through men like tracks on a really terrible CD, and Gigi had never liked a single one of them. The worst of all of them, though, was her dad.
She did not want to even think about him, let alone sit through a three course meal with him every evening. Or that 30 year old with bleach blonde hair hanging off of his arm who had asked Gigi to call her mom. As if.
The five of them sat around the restaurant table in the busy country club dining hall, and Gigi found herself in a world of her own, absentmindedly twirling her straw in her drink and ignoring the chatter of the others around the table. Her parents made painfully awkward small talk between them as they waited for their meals to arrive, something about business finances or their new cars or the stock market. Gigi zoned out - her parents never really seemed interested in including her in their conversations. Not that Gigi would’ve wanted to talk to them, anyway.
She found it funny, though, that none of them would want to be within 50 feet of each other if it wasn’t for her. She was the reason they all ended up at her dad’s country club every summer. She usually lived with her mom in their penthouse, and put up with whatever boyfriends she had, because although it wasn’t perfect, anything was better than her dad’s house. But, legally, her dad was supposed to see her at least a few weeks a year, and so she and her mom and whoever her mom was seeing were all dragged to this hellhole every summer.
Three months she inwardly reminded herself. Three more months, and then she’d be eighteen, and her parents would finally let her buy a place of her own, and she would never have to set foot in a country club again. She’d been begging to buy a house of her own from the day she turned sixteen, but her parents would hear none of it, telling her that she was far too young to be trusted to spend that much money all at once. They didn’t seem to have an issue when she blew thousands on clothes or cars or house parties all at once, though. The hypocrites.
Her eyes scanned the restaurant around her, searching for a distraction, and she caught sight of the guy she had thrown her drink at earlier - her dad’s friend, David or Dave or something. She noted his change of shirt from the blue polo that had been drenched in pink lemonade, and smiled at the memory. He got what he deserved, she thought. Nothing made her more mad than people who were rude to the staff.
She was sad she had to run away without that girl though. Crystal. She was pretty adorable.
She hoped she’d see her around again, soon.
Before long, a waiter came by their table and served their food, plates piled high with steak and grilled veg and some sort of fancy sauce on the side. Gigi’s mouth watered - as much as she hated having dinner with her family, the food was never a let down.
She was halfway through a mouthful of roast beef when her mom started talking again, but this time it was to her.
“You know, Gigi, James’s nephew is going to be spending a few weeks at the country club this summer,” she said, taking a sip of her wine.
“Oh, cool,” Gigi replied, disinterested.
“His name’s Matthew. He’s around your age, too,” she said, nodding and sharing a knowing look with the others around the table. “We were all thinking…maybe the two of you could, you know, go on a date.”
Gigi almost choked on her mouthful.
Go on a what?!
“Um, thanks, but no thanks.” she replied, her voice a little shaky. She could feel her heart start pounding in her chest a little harder and a little faster than she would’ve liked.
“Oh, Gigi, give him a chance! He’s a nice young man, isn’t he, James?” her mom said, nudging her boyfriend with her arm. James nodded dumbly, before shoving another mouthful of potato into his mouth.
Tension rose in Gigi’s body, her mom’s words ringing in her ears. “I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but I’m not really looking to date someone right now,” she said, doing her best to be polite and not get too emotional.
“Come on Gigi, you’re almost eighteen. It’s about time you got a boyfriend,” her dad butted in, his tone seeming too aggressive for the conversation. She was surprised that her mom and dad had actually agreed on something for once, even if it was for entirely different reasons. Her mom, deep down, wanted to protect her, for her to be happy - her dad wanted her to be someone else’s responsibility.
And Gigi wanted anything but a boyfriend.
Now would seem like a good time for Gigi to remind her parents that she was a lesbian, but she didn’t particularly want to have another screaming match in a public dining hall. She had tried to have that conversation before, and it didn’t end well. She pictured the way her mom had looked so scared when her dad had yelled and rampaged through their house. How she had told her afterwards to not bring it up in front of her father again. How guilty she had felt for causing her dad to explode like that, and for making her mom so scared.
Her parents had broken up not long after that. And Gigi never brought it up again.
She had kept her love life completely private from then on, sharing secret rendezvous with girls at parties that she would never see again, and playing the role of the straight girl in front of her family. And, her family put a bandage on the stab wounds and acted as if nothing had ever happened.
But, pretending to be straight and actually dating a boy were completely different things, and there was no way she was going to let her family force her into a relationship. No way.
“Sorry, but I’m not interested. End of story,” she said firmly, her tone cutting, and it seemed to shut them up.
The five of them ate the rest of their meals in relative silence, the tension so thick it could’ve been cut with a knife. Gigi was suddenly thankful for the old saying that it was rude to talk with your mouth full. Gigi kept her mouth full as often as possible.
Dinner came and went, and desserts were ordered, Gigi opting for a raspberry sorbet that was new to the menu this year. Her parents ordered more drinks to go alongside their desserts, and Gigi wished she was a couple of years older so that she could have a few shots to make sitting through dinner more bearable.
Minutes ticked by like hours as she waited for her dessert to arrive, to give her something sweet to distract from the sour atmosphere. When it did though, she was met by an even sweeter surprise.
“One raspberry sorbet?” a voice asked from behind her.
She looked up to see a familiar face placing the pink dessert down on their table and her heart skipped a beat.
Crystal. The girl that had infatuated Gigi to the point of provoking her to throw her drink in a grown man’s face. She wasn’t too easy to forget.
Her red curls were tucked behind her ears, and she looked as though a faint blush was creeping over her cheeks. She smiled, giving Gigi a knowing look and a small nod, before walking away from their table, bouncing a little as she walked.
God she was cute.
Gigi was suddenly far less interested in her dessert.
“Uh, excuse me for a moment,” she said, and before her parents could protest, she abruptly stood up from the table and left, set on going after Crystal. She wasn’t exactly sure what she intended to say to her, but just seeing her had flipped her mood on its head entirely, and God knows Gigi needed some serotonin.
Plus, flirting with a member of staff would make her summer a little more bearable. Because what her parents didn’t see was none of their business, right?
It didn’t take her long to catch up to Crystal, and just before she made her way back into the staff kitchen area, Gigi grabbed her wrist and tugged her out of the restaurant, around a corner in the porch where they couldn’t be seen.
Crystal looked a little surprised, and took a second to catch her breath, tucking her hands into the front pocket on her apron. “A hello would’ve been nice,” she said in a slightly hushed tone. “You scared me.”
“Nice to see you again too, Crystal,” Gigi replied, and Crystal giggled softly, her nose scrunching up causing Gigi’s stone heart to melt, just a little. From this close together, Gigi could make out the freckles that speckled the girl’s face, and she thought they made her even more beautiful.
Crystal bit her lip. “Um, I never got a chance to thank you, for, ya know… helping me out earlier today,” she said, scratching the side of her temple slightly.
Gigi smirked, thinking about the way the man looked with his wet hair matted to his forehead like dripping curtains. “It was nothing, really. That guy deserved it.”
“His shirt will be sticky forever now,” Crystal said, putting on the voice of a maniacal evil scientist. “The perfect revenge.”
Gigi chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief at how adorably goofy this girl was. But, she wouldn’t be Gigi Goode if she didn’t take an opportunity to mess with her a little when she saw the chance.
“His shirt is not the only thing I can make wet and sticky,” she said, with a cocky wink and a shit-eating grin, before dissolving into laughter.
Crystal’s mouth fell open in a fake gasp as she pretended to clutch her pearls and scolded Gigi, telling her to wash her mouth out with soap, but Gigi couldn’t help but notice the tiniest blush that had appeared on her cheeks, and the way her eyes had widened for just a second.
Adorable.
“So, uh, who were you eating dinner with? Is that your family?” Crystal asked, looking for a way to change the subject.
“Sadly, yes,” Gigi said with a roll of her eyes.
“Which ones are your parents?”
“All of them.”
“Oh! I’m sorry, I didn’t -”
“It’s okay,” Gigi said with a small chuckle. “Technically only three of them are, because my mom hasn’t married her boyfriend. Like she ever will,” Gigi laughed.
“Your dad owns this place, right?”
Gigi sighed. “Uh-huh,” she said, her voice monotonous.
“Which one is your dad?” Crystal asked, peering her head around the corner to glance at her table.
“The one in the grey blazer.” Gigi gestured towards him slightly, making sure they were still hidden from sight. “Why do you ask?”
“I don’t wanna get fired. I need to make sure no one throws a lemonade in his face on my behalf.”
Gigi burst out laughing at that, trying her best to keep her volume to a minimum but not doing a very good job. “Oh believe me, if I could throw a drink in his face, I would.”
Crystal grinned back at her, and Gigi noticed the perfect dimples in each of her cheeks, which somehow made her even more adorable. She found herself drawn to her chocolate eyes, gazing at the twinkle behind her pupils and her long eyelashes that framed them, like they were priceless works of art, which, of course, they were.
They fell into a comfortable silence, and in any other situation, Gigi would’ve made a move. She was never one to wait patiently for the right moment - she was someone that always knew what she wanted, and right now, she wanted nothing more than to cup Crystal’s cheeks and plant a kiss on her lips.
But, she had to remind herself that she was in the middle of a country club, where anyone could see the two of them. And she had a reputation to uphold. She’d need to wait until they were somewhere more private.
Plus, she didn’t want to frighten Crystal. The girl already looked like she was in a constant state of panic as it was, and Gigi thought a kiss would probably tip her anxiety over the edge.
She also wasn’t positive that Crystal liked girls, either, but judging from her messy, curly bob of hair, dyed red, and her nails, short and painted with black nail polish, it seemed a likely possibility.
“I, uh, I should get back to work,” Crystal said, looking away awkwardly.
“Yeah, you probably should,” Gigi replied. Crystal flashed her a pitiful smile, as if to say sorry, that she didn’t want to cut their interaction short, and Gigi couldn’t help but wonder how this girl, this ordinary girl who technically worked for her dad, managed to make her heart flutter with just a simple smile.
But Gigi didn’t want to say goodbye just yet. Not unless she knew she’d see Crystal again soon.
“Hey, are you working again tomorrow?” she asked, an idea popping into her head.
“Yup. 10 hour shift.” Crystal replied, practically groaning.
Gigi smirked. “When’s your break? I need someone to play tennis with.”
Crystal looked taken aback at her proposition. “Uh, I think I have a break at 3ish -”
“Perfect. Then I’ll meet you on the west tennis courts at three,” Gigi smiled, certainty in her tone.
“Uh, cool! I should warn you though, I haven’t played tennis since summer camp when I was like thirteen,” Crystal giggled, looking a little nervous despite the smile plastered on her face.
Gigi raised her eyebrows. “Then I guess I’ll just have to show you the ropes again,” she said, fully aware of the confidence she exuded, and gave Crystal a sly wink, so small that if Crystal had broken eye contact for a second, she would’ve missed it. Judging by the flush of pink on her cheeks, though, she had definitely not missed it.
Crystal grinned. “I look forward to it,” she said with a nod, before slipping back around the corner and going back to her work.
Gigi waited a couple seconds after Crystal left before walking back to her table, making sure to not look too suspicious despite the smile tattooed on her face. When she sat back down again, she was met by the scowl of her father.
“What took you so long?” he grumbled.
“Girl things,” she replied without missing a beat, because she knew that it would shut him up. And, it wasn’t entirely untrue, either.
When she looked down at her plate, though, she discovered that her raspberry sorbet had melted, and was no more than a pink puddle.
Gigi didn’t mind at all.
I laid down to sleep but a memory struck my tranquility away and I grabbed my phone urgently to write down the said memory because I knew I would soon fall asleep and it would be forgotten for a long long time. The memory belongs to 6-7-year-old me, is it normal to remember something from such a young age? Perhaps it is the only thing I remember from that age maybe because of the pain it caused me.
 One morning my father and chacha (father's brother) left and later returned with a Bakri, 3 months before eid-ul-Adha. The goat's arrival had just been announced and in seconds it was swarmed by a crowd of excited children, not me though I looked at her from the far corner of the garage. The kids (my cousins/brother) shadowed her the whole afternoon and the whole evening petting her head, feeling her pathay(plants), and dragging her by the rope in the streets showing her out to the neighbor’s kids while my father told the kids' fathers what a great deal they had gotten for her- after all, she was a beautiful creature.
I had always been scared of animals and so I did not dare go close or pet her, I was content admiring her from afar.
After a week the children had eventually gotten bored of the creature as she provided no more entertainment and all the neighbor’s kids had gotten their own animals-cows and camels! And so the cousins forgot their smaller goat.
The goat seemed to understand that she no longer has the same importance and was just a mere burning animal now. I still admired her from afar, I never stopped. The goat saw me and got on her 4 legs so fast that out of fear I stood too. She was looking at me expectantly. Finally, she spoke a high pitched 'baa' leaving her mouth, it was almost as if she was calling me towards her, asking me to return some of the affection and attention she had lost.
Timid, I started moving towards the goat, picking up a bunch of leaves to feed her. The sight of the lush green excited her and she moved towards me in urgency but she could only come as far as the rope around her neck allowed her. Her sudden movement once again scared me and I, too jumped but I jumped away from her. She was a smart goat and seemed to understand that her movement scared me and so after that, she stayed as motionless as she could. I eventually got close enough that the plants in my hand reached her enough for her to take a bite. I saw her completely indulged in her meal and took a leap of bravery and pet her on the head, the fur was not as soft as I had imagined it but I didn't mind. As I was petting her, she started moving her head to encourage me. I stayed with her for the whole evening until my mother called me to have dinner and go to bed, I was happy to admit that I had gotten over my fear of animals.
After that day, we both developed a strong bond and spent most of our time together. I fed her, gave her water, sometimes even dressed her in flowers I had picked, but I never cleaned after her I left that for the grownups.
One day my uncle arrived with one of his nephews. I was with my younger cousin teaching him how to feed the goat when the nephew entered the garage. I immediately did not like him, he had a very dominant and arrogant presence-even at the age of 9. He walked around the goat, petting her back and talked about animals as if he had been born and raised on a farm-my little cousin was fascinated of course and asking a ridiculous amount of questions (all of which the nephew answered with complete certainty). I was very rudely nudged away from the goat. I disliked him from the beginning but now he had done something that enraged me.
I wanted to shove him into the floor and punch his face until I broke his nose I was ready to explode and disfigure his face. He had smacked my goats belly, he hit her so harshly that she jumped back and produced a feeble cry-he just laughed it off and continued to vandalize and harass my goat while I stranded in the Corner-I learned I was a coward.
After he left, I went to visit my goat. I offered her some greens, he sniffed the greens, looked up at me and then walked away to sit in a corner. I felt hurt like never before, I felt rejected, but mostly I felt like a coward. I sat next to her and pet her praying to God that she'd feel how sorry I was and forgive me. I pet her for a long time but she did not look at me nor did she eat the food I offered her. I was hurt and I was miserable, I told my mother that my goat was mad at me because I did not protect her and asked her to provide me with a solution. My mother merely laughed and told me that she was an animal she could not feel such emotions or act that way, she was an animal! But she was wrong of course because my goat was mad at me I knew it and I was going to do everything I could to make her forgive me.
Day after day, I went to her in an attempt to seek forgiveness but she rejected me every day, she would not eat the food I offered her, she did not move her head to encourage me to pet her, she did not call out to me anymore. I had lost my friend.
 A week after I had stopped trying to win her back, I was passing by the garage and peeked in to see what the goat was doing (I hadn't been with her for about a week). She was struggling to get to the bucket of water that was kept only out of her reach. With no one else in sight to help her, I quickly moved the bucket closer to her and filled it up again. Just as I was about to leave, I tried to feed my goat in a tired last attempt to seek her forgiveness. I don't think I had even been happier than I was at that moment when she ate the plants I offered her. we had rekindled our friendship.
After that, I offered her extra love and care to cover for my act of cowardice.   we settled back into our same Routine-I spent most of my time with her much to my mother's disapproval (her child was spending most of her time around an animal whilst ignoring all other obligations so of course she disapproved) but I felt so connected to her in multiple ways that I cannot explain. After all, in a way she was my very first pet and the very first animal that I eased up to.
2 days before eid, our whole family was sitting in a lounge-everyone was showing each other the outfits they had purchased for the eid. unexpectedly my father started yelling while on-call with someone, something about a Kasai. Now I had no idea what a 'Kasai' was and so curiously I asked my mom which was, well it was a mistake. when she did explain to me what a 'Kasai' was and what was to happen to eid day it took me a few seconds to process the information that had just entered my ears, and when I tell you I let out the most alarming, loud, deafening scream a 7-year-old could manage boy you better believe me. Everyone around me dropped whatever they were doing and rushed in my direction. I was inconsolable, I was launching around like the devil itself had possessed my body.
Now obviously it was my mum threatening to strike me with a chapel that helped calm me down but the tears never stopped, and what exactly do you expect when you tell a child that you were going to kill their dear friend and have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, OBVIOUSLY I WAS FUCKING TRAUMATISED. I was not allowed to see my goat after that because my parents were so sure that I would let her lose and now....of course I would that'd be the most human thing to do. Now I was young so I didn't know how to pray (in that moment I wished someone had taught me) but as my mom was consoling me she said, “we can make dua for the goat so that her soul is taken painfully", A DUA yes of course I could make dua for her. I prayed that somehow her rope gets lose and then she run so far away from here, where no one would hurt her.
I woke up the next day and she was still there- boy oh boy I was heartbroken but I did NOT stop praying. And then came the day of the eid, I was so busy getting ready and obsessing over my churian that was for a while I forgot about my god but then came my father bearing bad news- the Kasai was here (yes I did start crying again). I stayed glued to my mother covering my ears because I knew I couldn't bear hearing her last cry, by then my mother somewhat was aware of the pain I was enduring and let me clutch on to her dupatta.
I never knew my father's disappointed face could excite me this much-now I just wanted him to finally tell us what the bad (good) news was. "the goat is pregnant", the goat was pregnant THE GOAT WAS PREGNANT.  We didn't sacrifice the goat; she was sold to the Kasai at a loss. My dad was not happy about purchasing meat from the market when everyone else was enjoying the meat of their sacrificed animal- but I was so thrilled I didn't even bother to hide it for the sake of my family, why should I? my friend was alive (and pregnant).
 Anyways, I never got close to another sacrificial animal after that, I never even went out to see it and over the years family assumed that I was scared of animals and I let them believe that because telling them the real story behind it would be ALOT of effort (it actually would not be too much effort but the whole story sounds stupid to me and knowing my family I know they would use it against me to perhaps ridicule me and the story is too close to my heart and painful enough that I do not want to turn it into a joke).  I think the whole thing influenced me more than I'd like to admit and allowed me to learn things about myself that I wanted to avoid.
Bakugo Babysits! :); Soft Side
Warnings: Cursing ( it’s Bakubro )
Eri might legally belong to Aizawa and Present Mic, but who was to say that Eri didn’t sleep over every Tuesday and Saturday at Deku’s and Todoroki’s once they got out of UA? It gave the two teachers alone time, and it made Shoto the happiest man alive to be a dad-role he always wanted to be. Deku was sure they would have kids in the near future.
Of course though, somethings had happened like usual. “Izuku! Shoto got really hurt in that villain accident! He’s at the hospital near downtown! Fuyumi, Todoroki’s sister, yelled into her phone with Deku on the other line. “Oh my god, I’m on my way.” Deku turned around, about to grab his jacket when he looked over at the sleepy little Eri on his couch watching All Might videos.
Dang it! Deku needed to leave to go see his husband, but a hospital at night was no place for a little girl. Deku did the only thing he could, and called the one person he knew would be awake at the time.
“Wha- who is this?!” Bakugo yelled into his phone, in the middle of watching Mad Men alone. Saturdays were the only time he could watch his show since his boyfriend Kirishima was out on patrol, so he couldn’t make Bakugo watch Mean Girls or Friends like usual.
“Kacchan! It’s Deku. I need you to come over! Shoto is in the hospital.” Immediately Katsuki stood up, nervous about his friend. “The fuck. Explain you jerk!” He yelled into the phone. “Well yes, I’m watching Eri right now and Todoroki’s sister just called! He’s in really bad shape and I have to get down there right now! Please come watch her.” Bakugo was about to say no until he thought of the little girl, and what he had been told.
“It’s just a stupid six-year-old! Why should I go to a party for a little kid just because she was rescued by some heroes? Big deal.” Bakugo yelled at his mom before she slapped him in the face. Bakugo’s face was purely shocked. His mother never had hit him before.
“Dang you Katsuki, you watch yourself boy! That little girl was born with an uncle that kept her locked in a room. That uncle died and his nephew then experimented on her. He took her fucking insides to make bullets Katsuki. That girl has only known death, punishment, killing, villains, and being treated like an animal. She wouldn’t know love or warmth or even happiness if it fell out of the sky and hit her on the face!”
She looked back up at Katsuki. “She’s been through more than you and I will ever go through, and she’s a fucking child! Now you’re going to go give her the time of her life and make her feel wanted for once, and god dammit! Prove that you’re not the heartless monster to everyone but Kirishima!”
“I’ll do it.” Bakugo spoke into the phone before hanging up. He knew where Deku lived. It only took minutes before he arrived, Deku quickly walking out the door with many thank yous. “She can eat whatever, do whatever. Just make sure she feels safe.” He instructed before running to the elevator.
Bakugo stepped in, smelling the flowers and chocolate that the house had always smelled like. He looked around at the kitchen to see an empty cup of water and lots of sheets of paper, some of them having drawings on it. One was a bee, one was a cat, and one was a tree with flowers around it. Cute.
Stepping inside more, the living room came into view. There, fitting onto half of one couch cushion, was Eri. Her white hair was pulled into two ponytails, she was wearing a large shirt that probably belonged to Todoroki or Deku, and some long pajama pants. As soon as he saw her, she saw him. Immediately her face looked alarmed as she pulled a pillow around her and scooted away from him, staring back at the tv. Bakugo could tell she was scared.
“Hi?” Bakugo introduced himself, walking over to the couch to sit down. He never had been good with kids. He could tell she flinched as he sat down, and she was shaking. “Um, I’m Katsuki. Deku and Todoroki’s friend.” He waited a minute as the little girl looked at him. “You’re the red-head’s boyfriend aren’t you?” She asked as he nodded slowly.
“Uh, I mean, I guess we made it official so ya. Why?” He asked as she just giggled, removing the pillow from her lap. “I’ve met him before. He’s so nice, and he said I would like meeting you. He has a lot of energy. Are you like that?” She asked as Bakugo smiled awkwardly, trying to make conversation with a child. “Um, I can if I want to. Most of the time I’m really chill though.” Eri giggled in response.
“Like my Daddy and Shoto? You must be a good cook then. Are you better than them?” Eri asked as Bakugo suddenly laughed. It was weird thinking that this was the child of his teacher’s. “Oh, I’m even better. See? I’ll make you something! What do you want?” Bakugo asked, hopping up and running to the kitchen. “Uh, pasta! Shoto makes that and it’s really good!” Eri exclaimed, running after him to the kitchen and sitting on top of a bar stool.
“Well lucky for you! They have everything for pasta!” Bakugo grabbed all the ingredients and began cooking away, letting Eri draw in a comfortable silence.
“Done!” Bakugo yelled, setting the plate in front of her. The food was steaming, and you could smell it from far away. “Nice! I’m done too! I-I... I made you a picture.” Eri moved the papers to Bakugo, letting him grab it.
Bakugo looked at the first one, it was him cooking. Bakugo could see the small fire in the pan, the funny-looking apron he wore, and of course his spiky blonde hair that made him look like a hedgehog. The second was hilarious. You could see Deku’s kitchen on fire, Bakugo screaming, and the black pasta on the counter from being burned to a crisp. Bakugo couldn’t help but laugh at that one.
The last was Bakugo in his hero outfit, next to his boyfriend Red Riot.
“You two are like a combo when it comes to your jobs. I’ve seen you two on the news together all the time saving people, so I drew you two.” Eri smiled, pointing around the picture. “See? That’s you holding hands, and those are his sharp teeth. I forgot to color in your hair but that’s okay, it’s messy anyways.” The two laughed, talking about the drawings. “These... these are amazing Eri.” Bakugo felt himself tearing up. “I’m going to frame these.” He smiled, sitting down next to Eri as she ate, continuing to talk about his hero job.
“I’m related to a villain, but it’s okay. I’m going to become a hero.” Eri smiled, before suddenly frowning. “I heard some kids say that I was a villain like that Shigaraki dude, because I had red eyes.” Bakugo began smiling, turning to Eri. “Don’t be dumb! I have red eyes, Kirishima has red eyes. Shoto has one, and your dad does too! Red eyes can only make you more awesome!”
Eri smiled brightly at that, finishing her pasta before hopping down and going back to the couch, Bakugo following closely behind. The two spent hours watching All Might videos, Ground Zero videos, and then videos of Present Mic/Eraserhead working together.
It was around 11 when Bakugo found himself scrolling through the videos before hearing a light snore. He looked down to see Eri covered with a blanket laying on the couch, her head in his lap. Bakugo couldn’t help but smile, before picking her up and bringing her to the guest room bed which was surrounded by stuffed animals.
Bakugo remembered to cuddle her with the white toy cat he had seen her bringing around UA, remembering that her dads had given it to her the day they met in the hospital.
Just as he walked out of the room, he was met by the sight of Shoto walking in with crutches, Izuku and Kirishima walking closely behind. “I saw them on the way home.” Kirishima explained as Izuku helped Shoto sit down on the couch. “Where’s Eri?” Deku asked as Bakugo smiled. “In bed.” He responded as Todoroki looked up, still sleepy off his medications.
“What did she eat? I was going to make her our favorite pasta but-” Bakugo winked at Todoroki, making him nervous. “ I made her pasta, and she loved it. Take that Icyhot.” Bakugo slid his hand around Kirishima’s waist. “So you’re telling me you can’t take care of my fish without killing it, but you can handle a whole child for 7 hours straight?” The room was filled with laughter before a slow pitter-patter of steps was heard.
“Bakugo-san? Kirishima-San!” Eri ran out of the room, hugging the two. “Will you come back Bakugo? You have to come sometime Kirishima! I never see you two!” Eri shouted, holding onto Bakugo’s pant leg. “Sure! We’ll come by tomorow if you want! We’re both off and I’m sure these two will gladly give us free food. Now, we’ve got to go to bed too.”
Deku picked Eri up off the ground lovingly as she blew kisses to two of her new favorite people. “Bye!” She yelled as the two left and walked down the hallway.
“Hmm. Didn’t know you had a soft like for kids Katsky.”
And Bakugo kept his promises. As he always kept Eri in mind, he tried to show compassion as much as possible, becoming a better person. He also tried to remember to treat Kirishima with the love he deserved, never taking him for granted. And lastly, Bakugo did end up framing the pictures Eri made him. He kept them in his office at home to look at always.
For a reminded for why he was a hero.
