MY HELL FOR YOUR LOVE ᡣ𐭩
♡⃛ ‘A Fixed Heart in Your Hand' alternative ending
pairing: Simon 'Ghost' Riley & fem!reader
synopsis: alternative ending because I feel bad for hurting y'all
tags: hurt/COMFORT, fluff
"Sir? Sir!”
Ghost flinches as he realizes he’s been spacing out, the florist now looking at him with furrowed eyebrows. “Are you going to buy something or not?” she snaps, motioning at the display of bouquets. “Uh, yeah. Give me something with hyacinth and baby breaths,” he mutters, handing her a 100 bill. “Hyacinth? Never thought I’d see a day where a man knows a different flower aside from roses, tulips, and sunflowers,” the vendor chuckles, arranging the flowers neatly and covering them with a brown printed paper tied with a twine. “Ah,… if I know something, it’s about her.” The florist smiles, handing Ghost the bouquet and his change while saying, “Well, I can see that you love her dearly.” With a soft smirk, he replies, “That I do.”
You’ve always had a love for flowers. Going as far as to even beg him to make you a flower bed. Ghost didn’t like doing physical labor with him already getting beat from training at the base, yet when you flashed him that smile (and gave a toe-curling blowjob), how could he refuse? Since then, flowers as gifts have been rare between you two. Instances where he’d give you one are when you’re on a terrible period day or during milestones (the flowers coming from the patch he secretly planted months before).
It’s been two days since you’ve left the apartment, staying at your friend’s house, but Ghost insists on having you keep some of your stuff in the unit because, “well, you technically have ownership of the place since we shared the payment for this month.” It was a poor excuse, really, but it worked. Ghost knows you well enough to know that you haven’t broken up with him despite what you said. Leaving and staying somewhere else is something you do when you’re hurt and need space, and he knows that deep inside, you’re waiting for him.
Don’t get him wrong. He doesn’t think you’re “easy to get” and he did really regret everything. The last 2 nights without you knocked some sense into him. The night felt colder, somber, and… lonely. Something he thought he would never complain about. I mean, this man has been through worse situations and he prefers solitude, but not if it’s solitude without you. You’re the one thing he can’t live without.
He has sent you multiple voicemails, messages, and even money as an apology. He’d always drop off by your friend’s place with some poorly attempted home-cooked meal of your favorite dishes. Sometimes he’d be able to steal a glance at you when he saw you coming up to the unit right before he arrived, sending flutters to his heart and butterflies in his stomach like a high school boy with a crush.
Now he stands by the door, hoping he’d leave the place with you in his arms, and him in your heart again. Three knocks (you always say less or more than that are for psychopaths) and a call of your name. Simon couldn’t help but chuckle when he heard your familiar cry, probably from rushing and stumbling. The wooden door cracked open, and the adrenaline that rushed through his nerves just from seeing you again could knock the man dead. He couldn’t even say anything except literally melt and give you the warmest smile. “Hi,” he softly greets, pulling the bouquet out of the paperbag and handing it to you with another gift. It was a charm... a tree bark with your initials engraved. You chuckle, pulling out the letter sticking out.
One thing you learned about your Simon was that he’s not entirely good at conveying his feelings. I mean, that’s literally the reason for this fight. Yet he got out of his comfort zone, wrote you a fucking letter.
You look at him, tears in your eyes before jumping into his arms.
“I fucking missed you, pretty girl,” he mutters, holding you up by your ass and pressing a deep kiss on your lips. God, you taste like heaven; you taste like salvation. He tangles his fingers in your hair and pushes you closer, afraid you’ll slip from his fingers again.
From that day on, Simon learned one thing. That he would rather go through the depths of hell (talk about his feelings) than go through a day without your love.
| The letter:
‘To my darling flower, I’m sorry for even hurting you. I’m sorry I was a shit-ass about how I processed my emotions and got you involved. You’ve always told me that you’re there for me but I didn’t want to burden you. I always want you to be happy but my actions just did the opposite. I’m sorry that I didn’t say anything that day. That I didn’t even ask you to stay. I’m sorry for being a coward. I’m sorry that I let you go.
With this letter, I ask for your forgiveness and for you to have me back. I will be better because I cannot afford to lose you for you have my heart and soul. You are my whole life. You are the thing that makes surviving each day worth it.’
꒰ა ☆ ໒: Now you guys know why Ghost calls Y/N ‘flower’. This the comfort alternative ending because it was also requested. 📩

wingmen.
megumi fushiguro x fem.reader
no curses | high school au
warnings: slight crack, but mostly fluff.
dedicated to @xbarrjallenx
to my beloved girl,
you are all that i can think of. from your bright eyes, to the way your hair seems to shine from beneath the sunlight-
you drive me crazy.
i am madly in love with you.
please say that you’ll be mine someday?
-yours truly,
your admirer.
{ … }
your lips were parted with absolute shock in response to reading the love letter that was left within your locker. your mind was in a haze as you kept reading the neat script over and over again.
in fact, you were still in shock because you didn’t think that something so sweet could even happen to you!
you recall waking up this morning feeling stressed and nervous about your upcoming trigonometry exam. even with your best friend’s meticulous and detailed notes, you ended up goofing off with nobara and yuji and didn't do much studying (much to megumi's chagrin!)
you had plans of going over your notes with megumi during homeroom, but after receiving such a sweet love letter, your desires to study went down the drain. your eyes kept trailing over each written word, but couldn't seem to recognize the style of writing at all.
as your fingertips trace at the written words, you suddenly had a epiphany-
perhaps your friends could help you figure out just who this secret admirer was!
with your eye practically glimmering with hope, you slam your locker shut before making a mad dash to your classroom, almost too eager to see megumi, yuji, and nobara again.
{ ... }
megumi was simply looking over his notes when he sees you bursting into the classroom. your features appear flustered, and he could see the way your strands of hair fell across your face.
he feels his lips twitch in a slight smile, but successfully fights back those happy emotions because it just wasn't in his style to be anything but cool, calm, and collected while in the presence of his friends-
(even if he did have the tiniest crush on you-)
but he digresses.
while yuji and nobara were talking about some new music video that was dropped by their favorite band, you take quick strides to them while holding up what looked like a letter from within your hands.
"guys look! someone sent me a love letter!"
upon hearing your outburst, yuji and nobara stopped talking about the new music release and turn their attention to you.
"whoa! that's so cool! do you know who wrote it?"
"this is actually sooooo sweet!"
megumi frowns upon hearing how overly happy and excited yuji and nobara were, which was what made the warning bells go off within his head. standing from his seat, he closes his notebook and goes to where you were all huddled together.
megumi narrows his emerald green gaze down at nobara, seeing a suspiciously familiar piece of stationary. he was itching to see just what this letter was all about when he snatches it away from nobara's hands.
"h-hey! i was still reading that!"
but he ignores nobara's protests, scanning through each written word as his forehead began to pulse with annoyance.
this was nobara's handwriting when she actually tried to write neatly!
just what were these clowns up to?
"come with me." megumi returns the letter to you and picks up yuji and nobara by the back of their uniforms, leaving you alone as you went back to staring dreamily at your love letter.
hearing both of his friends laughing while dragging them out into the hallways was more than enough proof that they had done something. only when he knew he was away from you did he finally begin speaking.
"what the hell are you guys up to?" megumi hisses at them both, feeling the annoyance grow when they casually look away from him. "i know that letter was written by you, nobara. so spill, what's going on?"
"i'm just trying to be your wingman." she tells him with a wink, all while smirking at him. "because yuji and i both know that you don't have the balls to tell her yourself."
his face began to turn hotter in response, nearly being choked with embarrassment as he pointed an accusing finger at her, "it's none of your business! if i want to confess to her, then i'll do it on my own terms!"
"yeah, surrre, you've been saying that since the end of our middle school year... and we're in our second year of high school now." yuji reminds megumi with a snicker.
"haha, yeah, yuji knows what's up! so that's why, we're gonna keep sending your beloved letters until you actually confess!"
"no, you won't-"
nobara then flashes him a sly smile, "did you not see how happy she looked after receiving that letter? she would be utterly devastated if we stopped... or maybe... even more hurt if you don't write the letters yourself."
megumi freezes, thinking back on to the joy that paints your features and how excited you were to have such a letter. in fact, seeing your sweet smile was enough to make his heart clench in response...
perhaps the reason why he was so angry and annoyed was because his friends had managed to make you smile first-
not him.
megumi moves away from them with a click of his tongue, shoving a hand within the pocket of his pants, "fine. you got me. just... don't send her anymore letters, okay? i'll come clean to her soon."
while megumi kept his back turned, he couldn't help but smirk when he hears yuji and nobara high-fiving each other, knowing that their plan was a success.
{ ... }
at the end of the school day, (when you were sure you, yuji, and nobara had failed that trig exam), you drag your feet across the linoleum floors of your school, switching out your slippers with your actual shoes when you saw a folded note fall out of your shoe cubby.
your eyes go wide when you received yet another letter, but this time, it wasn't written on a cute stationary, or even placed in an envelope.
instead, it was a folded piece of what looked like a torn page from a notebook. feeling intrigued, you unfold the note as it read.
hey, i wanted to apologize to you, since the letter you received this morning wasn't from me-
but it was written on my behalf.
those words were really cheesy, and there's no way in hell i'd ever say such things-
but that doesn't mean that my heart doesn't race for you;
it doesn't mean that i don't find you beautiful, or think about you all the time.
if you want to know who i really am, come meet me at the school's rooftop.
i'll be waiting.
-your admirer
your heart begins to race, because this handwriting was one that you actually recognized-
for you had seen such neat writing while copying and reading over a certain sea urchin head's notes.
with your heart pounding from within the confines of your chest, you immediately push your legs forward, allowing your footsteps to echo across the floors. you ignore the burning felt against your feet as you saw the door leading to the rooftop, pushing it open with the entirety of your weight.
your chest heaves with each breath that escapes from your parted lips, eyes now narrowing with a fondness when you see megumi standing several feet away from you.
his expression was shy, with his hand running across his hair as he waits for you. allowing the door to shut from behind you, you step closer to megumi and smile up at him. you don't say a word, allowing him to speak first. your eyes meet with his tranquil gaze, basking in his sighs when he says.
"nobara was meddling again... she was the one who wrote that note and put it in your locker."
you let his admission soak in before nodding, "...and...what prompted her to do such a thing?"
megumi remains silent for several seconds before admitting, "it was because of my own hesitance."
he frames at your face with his two hands then, making your face heat up in response as you were forced to look up at him. with eyes filled with adoration for you, and you feel megumi press the pad of his thumb against your bottom lip before telling you, "but, i won't hesitate anymore..."
leaning closer to you, you allow your eyes to shut in response when his lips finally met with yours in a kiss that you had been waiting for since the moment you first laid eyes on him...
a.n. - ahhh finally wrote another story for the best boy! i had a lot of fun writing this story, even if it's feels like it's been forever since i wrote for megumi 🥹 i hope you readers still enjoy it!

Revenge (K. Chaewon x M! Reader)
Y/n's Pov
My name is Y/n L/n, a student at Joongdong High School which is located in Seoul. I'm an average student who's neither good nor bad at what I do. I've had my fair share of highs and lows, but overall I'm never really the kind of person to stand out. I'm a substitute for the school's baseball club, and placed at the middle of the school rankings.
I fell in love with Kim Minjeong, the Madonna of our class. She was the picture perfect girl. Beauty, smarts, money, personality, talent, she has it all. Everyone's swooning over her and trying to get into her good side, and that means everyone, girls and boys.
I couldn't hold my feelings for her anymore, and before I knew it, I had sent out a love letter for the one and only, Kim Minjeong...
"Yah.
.
.
Minjeongie said these types of things trouble her." A short petite girl with a bob cut said while holding the love letter that I wrote.
...The next day, I was rejected by Minjeong's friend.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The class ended 10 minutes ago and everyone has already left the classroom. However I stayed behind and laid my head unto my desk as I sighed, still sulking and pondering about the previous rejection.
'...Well, I knew this was gonna happen didn't I?'
Feeling uncomfortable with pressing my head against the desk, I'd slip my arm to act as a cushion while I continued sulking.
'She's the class Madonna and me... well I'm just a background character and a substitute for the baseball team.'
I suddenly heard faint sounds of feminine laughs and chatters which made me raise my head and look at the window on the side of my chair.
'I wasn't thinking that she would pay attention to me, but, even then...'
As I peeked out, I immediately saw the girl that I've been pondering about the entire day. I saw Minjeong walking with her friends as they chatted about a certain topic that I don't know. She was laughing so brightly, yet here I am, completely down in the dumps. It's like comparing hell to heaven. But who was I kidding, it was bound to be this way, our lives were so different from each other after all.
Slightly tearing up, I weakly exhaled.
'Minjeong....'
"Hey!"
TUGHK!
Suddenly, I felt something hit my head which snapped out from my trance.
"Don't stare at my friends with those teary eyes, Y/n." A high pitched voice suddenly spoke-out, with a hint of brattiness in her tone. I didn't even need to turn around to see who it was.
"Why don't you just give up gracefully since you were rejected? Even though I already gave you the rejection, you're so effeminate... How lame!"
Closing my eyes to contain myself, I sat in silence and let her do what she usually does. Retracting the rolled notebook that she used to smack my head, she'd follow it up with her bratty stare.
"How long are you gonna falter like an idiot!"
Turning around, I'd come face to face with Kim Chaewon, Kim Minjeong's bratty best friend. She and Minjeong had been friends since the day they were born. Their mothers were childhood best friends and naturally they both became one too.
They're both called the 'Kim Twins' due to them always being together and having the same last name. It's still a mystery how they became so close considering that they're polar opposites. While Minjeong is reserved, elegant, and polite. Chaewon on the other hand was bratty, blunt, and rowdy. But I guess as they all say, Opposites attract.
"I know that, Chaewon." I spoke sullenly, quickly staring at her before standing up from my chair and taking my bag as I slung it onto my shoulder.
"Don't worry I won't bother her.... Well if you'll excuse me, I think it's time for me to go home." Sliding my chair back under the desk, I'd turn around and head to the door as my shoulders slumped, expressing my sense of defeat.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3RD PERSON POV
Chaewon intently looked at the slumped boy while pursing her lips as she's thinking about something.
"H-hey! You, wait up!"
...Was what Chaewon said, as they soon arrived at the School's vending machine spot. Chaewon picked her 2 drinks up from the port before walking back to Y/n who is currently sitting at the bench, his head hung low and his hands clasped against each other. She'd hand the juice over to Y/n who quietly took it.
Chaewon would open her drink before taking a sip from it, earning a delighted sound from her. She'd then look at the slumped Y/n.
"...To begin with, sending a love letter is too girly. If you really want to get a girl's heart, you should at least grab her and hug her from behind." Chaewon boldly claimed.
Y/n side-eyed Chaewon as his nose wrinkled, clearly showing dislike and disagreement over Chaewon's tips.
"If I do that, I'll get arrested. And besides I put a lot of effort writing that love letter..." Y/n tried to argue, defending his side.
Chaewon jeered. "Ha! Yet, she didn't even read that letter. The point is that you're completely out of consideration. If you keep thinking that way, wouldn't it be easier for you to move on?"
Y/n sighed as he looked at the floor. "It's not as easy as you say. But... you're right." He'd look at the juice, seeing his reflection. He'd suddenly turn his head to Chaewon's direction. "But what's so wrong about me?"
Returning the gaze, Chaewon looked at Y/n before pondering for a second and putting down her drink.
"Well first off....

Y/n who was about to take a sip suddenly froze in his place. His eyes bugging out as he'd make a face, clearly taken aback by Chaewon's endless rants and rambles about him.
Chaewon would Feel a little awkward because of Y/n's reaction and the sudden realization that she might've been too harsh on him. "Er... Hm? So what were we talking about..? Er... anyways... It's completely natural that you get rejected, so you don't have to worry at all."
Y/n slightly shook, as if struck by lighting. Beads of sweat would form on the side of Chaewon's head, still feeling a little awkward.
''Hm...
𝐀 𝐆 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇 𝐇
𝐖 𝐇 𝐘 𝐃 𝐎 𝐘 𝐎 𝐔 𝐇 𝐀 𝐕 𝐄 𝐓 𝐎 𝐆 𝐎 𝐓 𝐇 𝐀 𝐓 𝐅 𝐀 𝐑 ! ! ! !"
Chaewon flinched at Y/n's sudden outburst, clearly oblivious that her 'encouragement' had an opposite impact on him. "Wha- Even though I was trying to cheer you up! 'You anger easily' I should add that to the list!" Chaewon huffs. "I felt responsible since I got mixed up in this whole situation."
"...It's just that it can't be helped that she won't read my letter. But even then..." Y/n balled up his fists in frustration while looking at the pavement. "She didn't have to ask her friend to reject me. If she's going to reject me... I wish she could've at least done it properly." Y/n gulped as tears would well up in his eyes.
Chaewon averted her gaze from the crying boy, 'Crying again.... so annoying.' She exhaled as she felt pity and partly responsible for this poor boy. "Look, if you're that frustrated, then triumph over Minjeong."
"Eh?" Y/n turned his head to Chaewon, confused by what she said. 'Triumph over? What the hell is she implying?'
"I. Am. Saying. That you should make Minjeong go 'Woah! I should've accepted his letter back then!' and make her regret rejecting you!"
Chaewon loudly exclaimed as she pointed at Y/n who was processing what she just said. Her high-pitched voice boomed around the area and if there was someone passing by, her voice would definitely cause them to turn their head around.
Y/n sniffled as he wiped the tears around his eyes. "...B-but just how am I gonna do that...?" He asked, hoping for a clarification and possibly another advice from Chaewon.
"Why should I go that far Idiot!" A classic Chaewon response. Chaewon crumpled the empty juice container before throwing it at the garbage bin and started walking away.
Y/n stood dejected, his eyes would follow Chaewon's moving figure before she suddenly halted, turning her head around and looking back at Y/n. "...I dunno, you're in the baseball club aren't you? Why don't you try harder in that area?"
She'd now completely turn around as her figure faced Y/n. "Everyone goes to cheer for the baseball team at our school plus Minjeong likes jocks, so why don't you show her your cool side there?"
"B-..but even though I'm on the team, I'm just a substitute. And like you said, I tend to skip..." Y/n quickly hesitates on actually doing Chaewon's advice. After all, even though as much as he is a member of the baseball club, he's nothing but a substitute to fill the dugout. Hell his teammates barely know him at all. "Plus working hard to get revenge on someone is kinda..."
"I don't care! Then you go spend your whole life like that! A cowardly uncool guy!" Chaewon glowered at Y/n, her eyes furrowing. She was angry at the fact that Y/n was second-guessing in bettering himself as a person. If there's people she absolutely loathes, it's those who are gutless.
"...It's true that Minjeong was insincere to you...
.
.
...But even I'd think it wouldn't be worth it to properly reject someone with no guts like you...
.
.
... How Uncool!" Chaewon slightly annoyed as she walked away from Y/n, a moment of hesitation wrapped her figure before completely leaving a frozen Y/n alone.
Y/n stood frozen as he watched Chaewon's figure disappear as she turned into a corner. Lowering his head and sighing, he contemplated what Chaewon said. And as hard as Y/n finds it, she was absolutely right.
The reason Y/n remains stagnant and average was the fact that he didn't give enough effort. Looking back, the reason his teammates barely knew him was because he occasionally skipped practice. His inferiority complex has held him back from trying his hardest and kept him from being this gutless and uncool guy.
He wasn't anything exceptional because he couldn't, it's because he didn't. He didn't do anything to change himself.
Y/n clenched his fist as his once teary eyes were replaced by flames of determination. A burning desire to prove himself, a burning desire... for revenge.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
W O O O S H ! !
A loud sound of the metal bat pushing through the air echoed around the baseball field, catching the attention of the baseball club members.
"108.. 109..."
The origin of the sound surprisingly came from someone they did not expect. A member would even whistle in amusement. "What a sound." He commented.
The one producing the sound was none other than Y/n, who after having that talk with Chaewon, gained the boost to start training harder.
"Why is he practicing so hard... Who is he again?" A member asked. "I dunno... but he used to be really mediocre." The captain stared intently at Y/n who was consistently swinging his bat like his life depended on it. He'd then notice the look in his face, burning determination was oozing just from his eyes. The captain chuckled in amusement, causing the members to look at him confusedly. "It almost as if... He has someone he wants to get revenge on."
He'd clasp his hand to catch the attention of the members watching Y/n. "Well it looks like our subs have started to show their intention to replace us. We better practice harder now that our positions as starters are being challenged." The captain's comment seemed to ignite flames in the members as they energetically got back into training.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"135...136..."
Y/n muttered under his breath, his sweat dripping from his chin and landing onto the field. He was doing the usual training, but taking it to the extreme. And today, he's doing push-ups while under the blazing heat of the sun.
"Hey where are those extra balls? We had a few right?" A member yelled, asking his other teammates.
"Yeah we had, but Y/n demolished them all during his training." Another responded. "Y/n? So that's the name of the guy who's always practicing like a madman."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PSSHHH
The rain continuously poured out heavily, The joint training was paused momentarily because the coach deemed the field unfit for training. And so all the baseball club members were all chilling at the dug-out, resting their bodies. Everyone, except one.
"He's still running?" A member asked in disbelief as the team watched Y/n jog through the field while dragging a tire that was wrapped in his waist. Even under such extreme weather conditions, Y/n still pushed through.
"Y/n sure has guts." "Well we don't know how long he'll keep that up."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/n sat alone at the shed, cleaning the balls he had demolished during his usual batting training. He also decided to clean other balls because he had nothing else to do.
Other teammates would stop by and steal a glance at Y/n, noticing his sudden growth. Everyone was surprised by how much Y/n has changed, from a mediocre substitute to a promising roster contender.
Days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months. During this period of time, Y/n's determination has never wavered and he consistently pumped out sweat and tears into training as hard as he can.
"Hey I always thought Y/n was capable, he's doing exactly what I taught him." "He showed results during that recent match too." " We should put him up for pinch hitter!" Y/n can hear his sunbaes chattering about him. Y/n slightly smiled as he heard praises from his upperclassmen, an event that has never really happened to him before. Yet here he is, slowly but surely, he's now becoming a better person than who he was before. And all of it was thanks to a certain someone...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"1! 2! 1! 2!"
The sound of collective shouts from the baseball team boomed throughout the entire field and even at the school grounds. The entire club was warming up by running around the entire field. A certain person can be seen outside the baseball field, watching the club from the baseball fences.
Chaewon fixed her bag slings as she intently looked at the baseball club who was busy training. Her eyes would land at a particular person. Y/n was also jogging along the team, his demeanour and posture has massively changed. The once downcast posture and aura was nowhere to be found, and taking its place was a firm and charismatic figure.
Y/n's baseball career wasn't the only that changed throughout the months. Him and Chaewon had managed to form an unlikely friendship and occasionally can be seen hanging out with each other.
Chaewon watched Y/n train for a little bit. Seeing his growth from an insecure boy into a proud athlete was a sight to see for Chaewon and unknowingly a small smile would form from the corner of her lips as she continued to watch Y/n. Her eyes would suddenly grow wide from realization as she quickly stopped smiling. Covering her mouth she quickly walked away while scolding herself. Did she really see Y/n in a different light just now? 'Control yourself Chaewon... he likes your friend...'
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T H W A A N G ! ! ! !
The sound of the metal bat contacting the ball boomed throughout the stadium. The ball flew upward, travelling at unbelievable speed and height. The clouds parted and the sun shone brightly, as if the ball had just pierced the clear sky.
Thump!
The ball would fly up over the stadium, seemingly disappearing into nothingness. Y/n stood frozen at the batter's box, surprised at the play he just did. In just a mere second, he turned the tied game into a 3 run lead in their favour in the final inning. The whole crowd went silent for a second before erupting into cheers.
"WOAHHHH! A 3 RUN HOMERUN WINNING PLAY BY Y/N L/N! HE COMPLETELY TURNED THE GAME AROUND WITH THAT MONSTROUS HIT!!" The commentators were stunned beyond belief as they too erupted into cheers after Y/n's incredible play.
Everyone immediately stood up as they cheered and shouted for Y/n's team. Everyone, including Minjeong who was shouting Y/n's name and pointing at him. Chaewon on the other hand was quiet while freezing on her spot. She too was captivated by Y/n's play as she was greeted by a surge of mixed feelings.
Y/n would jog his way through the bases and finally at the home plate, as he basked in his glory. He'd face the crowd in front of him as he grinned widely.
"YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"
Y/n screamed with all of his might, an action that would be reciprocated by the crowd as they'd once again erupt into cheers. His teammate would run up to him before lifting him up and throwing him into the air.
"SPECTACULAR PLAYING Y/N! YOU'RE THE MVP OF TODAY'S FINALS! WE FINALLY AVENGED OUR LAST YEAR LOST AT THE FINALS! AND IT WAS ALL THANKS TO YOU!" The captain exclaimed while crying tears of joy. At last, Joongdong High has won the finals.
Y/n can only smile widely as he took in the moment. His mind would wander back from the moment he was rejected, to the talk with Chaewon, to his countless training sessions, and at last to this very moment. Finally, he had proven himself. He was no longer the gutless Y/n from before, and this was the final piece to finalize it. A sudden thought would pop up from his mind.
"Thank you captain! But sorry, the person I want to get revenge on is..."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Here, this is from Minjeong."
Chaewon would bring out a pink colored letter from her pocket before handing it to Y/n, who has his jaw dropped from surprise. Both of them were facing each other, as they're back at the exact place where Y/n was rejected months ago. Though this time, things were more different...
"It's more of a fan letter than a love letter though... Good for you Y/n!" Chaewon smiled brightly at Y/n before suddenly teasing him as she gave him a playful stare. "Do you feel better now that you've completed your goal and avenged yourself?"
Y/n just absently stared at her.
Chaewon was slightly confused by Y/n's lack of response from her questions which caused her to raise her eyebrow. "What are you gonna do? If you want me to, I'll take your rejection to her. There are a lot of girls who like you anyway."
Chaewon clasped her hand and tilted her head. "Thanks to all of your hard work, you're finally in the position to pick who you want, Mr. Popular."
After winning the Finals MVP, Y/n's social life immediately rose to heavens. He quickly joined the ranks of popular students in the school, he gained admirers not only from his school but also from other schools. Y/n also became more outgoing and charismatic from before, he also decided to cut his hair shorter.
"Mr. Popular... t-that... wasn't why I worked so hard." Y/n scratched the back of his head as beads of sweat formed on his forehead while he quickly denied Chaewon's claims.
"AHAHA! What are you saying!" Chaewon went closer to Y/n jeering, as she playfully slapped him multiple times like she's teasing him. "You can't fool me! It was all for getting revenge on Minjeong right? I know that!"
Again, Y/n just stared at her blankly, tight-lipped.
Taking that as a cue to leave, Chaewon turned around and decided to walk away from Y/n. "Well, whether you're gonna go out with her or not, you should at least wait a few days." She'd close her eyes before smiling somewhat bitterly. "But don't ever convey your reply with a letter. Like I told you before, act like a man and-"
As if time would stop, Chaewon would be suddenly cut off from her rambling as she'd feel her body being pulled before feeling a warm and tight feeling embracing her. Y/n had pulled her and hugged her from behind tightly, not letting the petite girl go.
Chaewon's eyes would widen, unable to come up with a response to this situation. Her face would immediately become red as she looked away, trying to avoid the piercing gaze of Y/n. "...Idiot, you got the wrong person." She mumbled, melting under Y/n's tight embrace.
"No, I don't. The only person I wanted to get revenge on was you!" Y/n exclaimed, pouring out his feelings as he confessed to Chaewon. This time, there were no letters involved.
"..." Chaewon would put her hand on Y/n's forearms as she tried to break free from Y/n's grasp. Her head was tilted down, and her expression was unreadable. "Let me go, Y/n."
"I don't want to! I won't let go until you tell me I'm cool, Chaewon." Y/n was not yielding to Chaewon's orders as he stubbornly kept on hugging her, not letting her go anywhere.
Chaewon was still trying to break herself free, before suddenly stopping which caught Y/n off guard. "Stop messing and just let go... If you dont..."
"If you don't, I won't be able to turn around and kiss you, right?"
Suddenly, Chaewon would turn her head around to face Y/n before tipping her toes to press her lips against Y/n's. They'd both pause for a solid minute, as they both cherish each other's first kiss. Kissing Chaewon was an out of this world moment for Y/n, her lips were sweet like a strawberry and addicting like chocolate, and Y/n knew at this moment that he was hooked on this beautiful woman.
Chaewon would land on her foot after she'd tippy-toes her way to Y/n's lips. Both of them would catch their breath after the kiss. Looking at each other, love immediately filled the air around them as Chaewon smiled at Y/n sweetly. "Ah-ah. I think I just lost a friend."
Chaewon would step back from Y/n as she placed her index finger under her pouty lips while sending him a playful and teasing glare. "You shouldn't let a girl kiss you first."
"How uncool!"
.
.
.
.
You turned around and your smile was too bright... I was defeated again. Revenge unsuccessful!
End.

Did I ever tell you all that when I was in high school in the early 2000s I had to write a short story for a class assignment. Two of my friends were doing love stories. So I decided I wanted to do a love story as well called Peach Tree. But a different kind of love story. Incest!
I wrote in the point of view of a girl named Alana living at a farm with strict parents, secretly writing love letters to her lover she couldn't be with and getting letters back from them. Then I reveal that her lover was her brother named Alaric that was sent away to a different farm to work on because they fell in love and their parents caught them, but didn't want them to be together.
And I ended the story with them meeting at a special peach tree in the woods, telling each other how much they love each other and they kiss.
I got in trouble for the story, almost kicked out. I stood through the whole scolding from the teachers and my parents with a smirk. And from time to time I would find stuff written on my locker relating to incest. The whole thing was fucking entertaining to me. lol.
I'm surprised you got so much backlash on a creative writing assignment, but maybe I shouldn't be.
It sounds like a really good story, btw!
I'm glad you had the wherewithal for the whole ordeal. I wouldn't have!

Mitsuya x Reader
Warning: Female reader and cursing.
Scenario: Based on the manga chapter 198.
Genre: Fluff
Word Count: 901
------
Just as promised from 12 years ago, everyone met at the Musashi shrine on June 19th to open the time capsules. You couldn't remember exactly what you wrote, but you were excited to see what your past self had to say. After greeting everyone and grabbing your boxes, the old Toman gang began to read their letters out loud.
It felt nostalgic listening to each other's dreams, bringing you back to your younger days. Who would've thought that up to now, all of you remained good friends. There was one person that you did wish you weren't just friends with though.
"Then how about you, Taka-chan!?"
Even hearing his name sent your heart into an irregular beat. You honestly felt like you were back in high school almost every time you were around Mitsuya. If you could write back to your younger self, it would be to encourage yourself to confess to your long time crush. Or at least tell someone trustworthy so they could find out for you.
Because years later, you're still wondering what would have happened if you just told Mitsuya your feelings.
"So, who's next?" asks Mitsuya, his voice refocusing you on the present.
"I'll go." You volunteered, eager to read your letter.
"Dear __(y/n). Hope things are good over there in the future! Any cool new stuff that came out? How about school? Did you make it and end up with the career you wanted? I hope so! Because I'm busting my ass over here. I hope you're still friends with everyone and that we're all still having fun. Also, did you ever end up with-" You stopped yourself before proceeding any further. "Oop, gonna skip that part."
Your audience groans out protests, some encouraging you to read your letter in its entirety. You argue back and stay firm with your decision. "No way! It's super private and kinda embarrassing!" You continue on, making sure to avoid any questions that involve you dating Mitsuya. Gosh, what the hell was your 15 year old self thinking?!
"Boo! You definitely left some parts out." Hakkai points his thumb down.
"Just leave it Hakkai. Let's respect her privacy." Mitsuya saves you from any more teasing. You thank the seamster then give the floor to someone else.
"Holy shit! I didn't know you liked Mitsuya!" You turn your head instantly to the voice behind you.
"Well you and everyone else knows now, you big mouth!" You could feel your face become warmer at the sound of some snickering and others suddenly questioning you. You avoided looking in Mitsuya's direction, afraid to see his reaction.
"My bad! I just happened to take a peek and didn't think about it!" Takemichi hides behind his hands while Draken calms the crowd so they could finish opening the remaining time capsules.
Once everyone had their turn, no one mentioned your crush on Mitsuya and started heading to the designated restaurant for dinner. You stayed behind a bit more, looking up at the tree where you buried your letters.
"Crazy how it doesn't feel that long." You jump at Mitsuya's approaching voice.
"Ye-yeah, guess it's because we still see each other pretty frequently." It was so hard to look at him, but you felt like you owed him an apology. "I'm sorry for what Takemichi said. I'm sure it was embarrassing for you and-"
"Embarrassing? Why do you say that?"
"Because of what I wrote? Don't you feel...weirded out?"
"Of course not. If anything, I wanna kick my younger self in the ass for not asking you out then."
"No way! You liked me back?" Your pulse quickens at the thought of you and your high school crush dating. You then feel your heart sink with sadness, reminding yourself that you're in the present and whatever silly feelings he had for you was probably gone. "But, I guess it's too late, huh?"
"Is it?" Mitsuya turns to face you, lilac meeting __(e/c). "I still like you and if your feelings for me haven’t changed, who’s to say that we can’t start now? Might be bold of me to assume that you still like me, but I've made a promise to not live with regrets."
"I would...really like that." Your face heats up, voice soft with your eyes avoiding his gaze. Mitsuya chuckles at your shy form, but he, too, is also feeling his stomach doing cartwheels.
"There is also another thing that I wish I had done before."
"What's that?" You asked then felt your face being cradled by his hands. You see him draw his face close to yours, sending your heart racing. It pumps faster the closer he gets, your breath stuck in your lungs.
"Oh fuck!" Mitsuya freezes when he's only centimeters away from your lips then gently releases your face. You both see Takemichi trying to quiet Hakkai as the tall male's jaw continues to drop.
"So-sorr-sorry! We just wanted to make sure you guys were coming, but we'll meet you at the restaurant!" Takemichi immediately turns Mitsuya's right hand man towards their respective vehicles.
"Guess we'll just have to wait until our first date." You laugh lightly, the heat slowly leaving your cheeks.
"Who says we can't get a preview?" Mitsuya leans towards you again, gingerly touching his lips with yours.
He probably shouldn't have done that because, now, he can't quell his desire for more.

Matching Set Masterlist
college!AU
popular!jeongin x introvert!reader
summary: Y/N and Jeongin had been together since birth. Seriously since birth– their mothers were best friends and while hanging out to complain about their never ending pregnancy, bam. Rumor has it that Y/N took a little while to cry, blinking around for a couple of minutes until the gentlest of screams came out of her tiny body. Only later, when the parents got together to congratulate each other, did the mothers found out that Jeongin had been born five minutes before Y/N, and it seemed that her quietness had been her own early way to wait for who would later be her best friend. And as if sharing a birthday wasn’t enough, these two had to share everything else; from their lunch at school to the bed they slept on. Thankfully, as next door neighbors, the trip was minimal.
It continued like this for decades to come, through middle school, high school, and finally, college. Their applications were sent together and their letters came in the same day. Miraculously, they chose different degrees, and for an entire night, Y/N cried to her mom about losing her best friend. Maybe this will be a good experience for you two, she laughed, petting her daughter’s head. But Y/N just couldn’t see a positive side to being without her Innie. Later, they would make a pact– one that vowed to always be there for each other. And he looked so earnest and honest that Y/N just couldn’t understand where that nagging doubt tugging on her heart was coming from…
What happens when these two experience freedom like nothing they’ve ever seen? And what will be of the matching set when they are put apart? Can the lifelong friendship survive the ultimate test of time– college?

hi lovelies! I know I have been a bit gone from the fake text scene, but I’ve been working on this for a bit now, and I am really, really excited to share this new story with you all! Han’s story will be going into HIATUS as I’m trying to sort the overall plot and details and will be reworking it after I get my muse back fro Rhythm & Rhyme. *sad Victorian child voice* Please, I need some more Prince Soma x reader, with Soma rescuing reader from her abusive home life. When I first was in high school and gushing over the prince, I always imagined a passionate love affair that at first is limited to letters (perhaps they met through Cole who is a mutual friend that introduced them to cheer up reader) And then eventually this beautiful man shows up on a white horse (elephant? It’s Soma after all, he’d save you in the loudest most obnoxious way possible) to save the day.
well reach into my chest and rip out my heart why don'tcha
I love this so much tho he's such a good boy!!! <3
You feel bad about it, but you’ve sometimes thought that you should burn all the letters that SOMA has sent you.
It would be better than your family finding them, wouldn’t it? Your parents have always tried to crush any good thing you’ve had. If they found these messages from a man you’ve fallen in love with, if they read the contents of these letters, they would put a stop to it immediately. That’s the only reason you’ve considered burning the letters after reading them.
You can’t bring yourself to do it, though. Every word that Soma has ever written you is like a ray of sunlight shining into your life. That very first one he ever sent you started with, Dearest (Name), We do not know each other yet, but I’m hoping to change that. My name is Prince Soma Asman Kadar, and my close friend Maurice Cole asked if I would write you because he knows you’re lonely and your family does not treat you nicely. So, I am writing you in the hopes that I can be your friend! Hello! It’s very nice to meet you!
God, if only you’d known what would follow. In the beginning, Soma became a good friend of yours… one of the few you have. You can remember writing Maurice and thanking him, mentioning that if Soma didn’t want to continue talking to you, he was free to tell Soma to stop sending letters.
However, the prince’s enthusiasm for speaking with you became clearer and clearer with every letter he sent. He uses too many exclamation points, perhaps because he’s always excited about everything. About talking to you, in particular, it seems. Soon enough these friendly correspondences slowly transitioned into ardent love letters.
People would be shocked to see the things you and Soma write to each other. He has no sense of shame; you think that’s one of the things you love about him. He wants to kiss you, all over your body, and he says so plainly as many times as he can, and he doesn’t care who knows it.
No matter how isolated and worthless you feel at home, trapped here despite being an adult who should be out on her own by now, you can always count on Soma to tell you how much he loves you. You haven’t burned those letters because Soma’s love has brought you back to life, and rereading them when you feel alone and unlovable has pulled you back from the edge of despair so many times.
When the latest one arrives, however, you’re not sure what to think except that your mind is trying to panic. This letter is uncharacteristically short for Soma, and there isn’t a single exclamation point to be seen.
Dearest (Name), Princess of My Heart,
Your pain is almost over.
We are going to be together soon, I promise.
And when I come to you, “happily ever after” will be yours at last.
Wait for me, priya.
Love Forever,
Soma
Weeks pass after that letter, without another one. It’s not unusual to go for a week or sometimes two without any messages from Soma, so you try to tell your heart to settle down.
This time just feels different. That last letter you got from him carried some air of finality, and although he’s said similar things that the two of you will be together soon, the way he wrote this one sounds like a sacred vow.
Like he really is on his way, after all this time.
You’re rereading it for what feels like the millionth time, up in your room, when suddenly, you hear something outside which sounds like… the trumpet of an elephant?
Your heartbeat freezes as you remember Soma mentioning that he owns elephants. There was at least one letter he sent you wherein that he made you a solemn promise that he’d take you riding on one someday after he came to rescue you.
Sometimes you think all that talk was just that ― prattle of things that would never actually happen, even if they were nice to think about.
Then you hear the door open downstairs, and someone is calling for you. “(Name)! Excuse me, ma’am, I’m here to see (Name) (Surname)! Yes, I am Prince Soma Asman Kadar! She knows me very well. (Name)! Priya, I’m here! I’m finally here!”
You’ve never gone down the stairs as fast as you do upon hearing all of this. So that’s what Soma’s voice sounds like…? That beautiful accent of his, that bubbly tone, the way you can hear him smiling even though you can’t see him yet. There’s no mistake.
That’s him. That’s your prince, trying to fight his way past the maids.
You’re down into the foyer before any of the staff can summon your parents. “Soma!”
You race toward him, this gorgeous man you’ve never seen before but who your heart would know even if you were blind. His hair is violet, his eyes are gold, and his smile is just as incredible as you’ve dreamed about.
“Soma!” You’re crying as you run into his arms. He catches you like he’s been waiting his whole life to hold you, and you can feel him kissing your head while you bury your face in his neck. You may be holding him too tightly. You don’t care. “Is it really you…?”
His laugh vibrates through your entire being. However tightly you’re holding him, he must be holding you twice as tightly. His arms feel so secure, some safe place you’ve never known until him. You’ve dreamed about this moment a thousand times.
“It’s me, priya. I’m finally here!” As soon as you move your face from his neck, he leans down to kiss you. Your whole body responds, arching into him. You swear your soul is a flower turning toward the light of his. He kisses you ferociously, yearningly, and his hands press in against your back. When you draw apart, his eyes sparkle at you. “I’m sorry we had to wait so long. But guess what? I’ve come to take you away.”
Your heart almost stops again. He can’t mean…? “Take… take me away?” Is this happening? Are you actually going to leave this horrible place and start a life with Soma like the two of you have talked about?
He nods eagerly. “Yes! I have a ring for you at the townhouse, but… there are lots of things to plan. You’re going to come be with me, though, from now on. You won’t stay here with people who don’t treat you like a princess. Are you ready to ride on an elephant?” he grins. As if it’s the most normal question in the world.
You don’t even know what to say. All you can do is let your tears fall down your face as you return his nod, and he reaches up to cup your face in his hands.
The way he looks at you is a way you never knew anyone could look at you. It becomes apparent to you that as much as you’ve been searching for your prince, he’s been searching for his princess. The two of you have been waiting for each other, and you can finally be together.
“I’m going to take you away from here,” he murmurs, before kissing you again. “We’re going to get married, priya. We’re going to find a big, beautiful house of our own, and we’re going to have babies, and you’ll never have to worry about anything ever again. I’m going to take care of you, and I’m going to tell you every day how much I love you.”
It sounds perfect. Too perfect. This isn’t another dream, is it?
You break your gaze from him, only to look over at the shocked maids. “… Tell my parents that I’ve run off with a prince, and I am never speaking to them again.”
To their credit, the maids exchange one glance with each other before nodding. “Good luck, Lady (Name).”
Soma sweeps you up into his arms, and right out the door.
Part of you feels a little bad that you’re leaving the letters he wrote you behind.
But you don’t need them anymore.
You’ve got him now, and you have no doubts that he’ll make you feel just as loved as you felt reading his letters.
‘Happily ever after’ was never an ending, you think. It’s the beginning of the rest of your life.

your apparition passes through me : that's the masterpost, everything you need to know :)) DO read this one, this is still very much ongoing <3
we both matter (don't we?) : mike asks max if she could go to California with him on spring break. that sounds like a bad idea, but she goes for it. el is unhappy in lenora; she is not in love with one of her first friends, but she is painfully in love with the certain red-haired skateboarder girl, who makes her laugh. 1/2 i have no idea if there will be a continuation? this was really good in my opinion, kind of sucks that it didn't get any love :((
upcoming !

hi!! i found out you accept ship requests so i decided to send one. i'd like to know about the ship and who would be my best friend if possible 🫶 i'll be ok with any character from the show.
i'm a bi woman, with dark red hair and black eyes. i have a lot of tattoos and piercings on my nose and lip. i mostly dress classic, since i work as a psychologist. i graduated from university a couple of years ago, and since then, i've been working in a clinic with children with autism. my first language is russian.
in my free time, i draw! i have a blog dedicated to fanarts, and i also draw comms. i'm a huge bookworm, i love reading classics and modern prose the most, i have a tiktok acc about books in russ, i mainly talk about my favorite writers (aka nabokov and dostoevsky). when i was in high school, i won a competition for the best poem. i am not a fan of fantasy, but i have a tattoo with a dragon in honor of a song of ice and fire by grrm (i adore this book series).
i am not a very social person. I have a few friends, but i like spending time alone more. when i was a child, i really loved Harry Potter and always dreamed of being a ravenclaw, but all the tests put me in slytherin😭.
i am intj and a gemini (although i dont believe in astrology). now i am very busy with work, but i try to study always and improve my english and maybe even start learning spanish. i hope i sent enough information.
thank you very much!! 🤍🤍🤍
hello hello!! thank you for sending this one in (love how my ship requests attract fellow multilingual baddies lmao), hope you like it 🫶
I ship you with...
KIMIKO
the two coolest gals in the entire world actually.
You two meet at a coffee shop. It's a lazy afternoon, you're taking your time at a table in the corner with your drink and pastry of choice. But the main reason you're there is to draw — you decide to practice in a different environment, so observational drawing it is. It's been a while since you arrived, you've sketched a few faces of people passing by, objects, the refractions of light coming in through the window.
Your eyes search around for the next subject and then you see her — the woman who just sat down with a cup of tea and a piece of cake. She's got a little smile on as the guy by her side mutters a string of complaints about how this soggy atrocity can't even be called a real croissant. You draw them both for a while, but you really fixate on her; the myriad gestures and strong expressions she replies to him with are so interesting to try and replicate. And she's very cute.
You're so immersed in drawing her, you're caught by surprise when you lift your eyes from the sketch and she's looking back at you with a smile. Caught red-handed!
She approaches you, typing something in her phone, and when she shows you the screen she wants to see the drawings. She lights up with the sketch page and starts typing a string of compliments on her phone (you're already smiling too, at that point). She then asks for your pen to scribble something in the corner. Her friend then calls her and she waves goodbye and you know that cute smile will stay in your head forever.
When you look back at the sketch, you see she wrote down her name — KIMIKO, in block letters — and her number.
Your first text to her is a picture of the drawings — a sketch page filled with her various expressions. Crude sketches, gesture drawing and facial expressions practice mostly, but in her replies she's amazed. She asks to see more of your art and you send her the link to your blog!!
And that, my friend, is how Kimiko becomes your No. 1 fan
You two start chatting a lot, like, A LOT (you don't know this from your side of the conversation, but Frenchie sees her giggling at the screen and asks what is it, and Butcher is constantly telling her to put down the goddamn phone. Kimiko finds out she really likes texting)
(and she really likes you too)
It takes a while for you to see each other again, but by the time you do meet you're already "pen pals" (text pals?) and friends.
This time, you plan to go together to a street fair — it's your first in-person encounter with Kimiko in around a month, and you're friends now, so why are you nervous...?
Oh my God it's a date
Not that any of you make it explicit, but it is SO a date
You spend a wonderful day listening to live music, tasting good food, looking at the vendors and chatting. Kimiko might be non-verbal but those fingers can TYPE — she's incredibly lively, with a wide smile, and to be fair she's the one that does most of the "talking" in the conversation.
Also because she feels so comfortable with you, and how you navigate the conversation. You never make her feel like she's slowing things down by typing or seem less interested in what she has to say.
There's one specific vendor in the fair that's a stand for used books, and you use it as a prerogative to talk away about your love for classics (she ends up buying a book you recommend — insert here the Russian classic you'd recommend to her).
After that? It's a date and EVERYONE knows it.
Frenchie tells her all the time to make a move and invite you to another one. He thought you seemed nice (saw you once) and already shipped you both (read a single text). But he sees how Kimiko acts when texting you and talking to you — C'est l'amour, mon coeur, need I say more?
You go on a series of dates after that, each one more explicitly romantic than the previous one, until your connection eases into a relationship without you even noticing. It's just so natural to be with her.
The word "girlfriend" is first used, though, when Kimiko introduces you to THE BOYS. That's the main aspect of her life, and even though she'd like to protect you, fighting is the only way she knows how to — her family has to know you too. So Kimiko, smiling by your side, types Everyone, this is my girlfriend.
She often likes watching you draw — the expression of concentration on your face as you pour your heart into a piece. There's something really special to her about making art, Kimiko herself loves little crafts and probably picks up drawing because of you.
Both of you definitely have silent hang outs in which you do your art or read books, listen to music, have a good drink of coffee/tea and chill together.
You immediately melt, of course. It's official. And now you have this bunch of dudes who will also protect you (because lord knows what Kimiko would do if they didn't).
Getting introduced to the team, then, brings you to a great friendship with...
MARVIN "M.M." MILK
braincells of the team duo!
Not gonna lie, I was torn between M.M. and Kimiko for the ship, but the more I thought about it the more I liked your friendship.
You get to know him when Kimiko introduces him to The Boys, but he already knew about you — all of them did — just by how much she texted you. All the time.
And when he meets you, he's so pleasantly surprised by how much of a good influence you are — not that he thought ill of you, it's just that in that world they've all learned to suspect anyone.
But M.M. vibes with you from the start: your level-headedness and drive don't manifest through coldness, but rather are something that he can connect with. You're as logical and practical as him.
Also I imagine your work as a psychologist gives you a mental tool set to de-escalate conflict, ground people, and get to the root of the problem, that he really appreciates. As the member of the team that's trying to keep them together and do the right thing, you're someone M.M. would love to have by his side.
You're not officially a part of The Boys, but M.M. soon starts going to you as a sort of advisor and friend — sometimes he needs someone to remind him of the right path to take, or simply a friendly shoulder to hear about all the shit he has to put up with because of these guys.
(Also, since the show implies Janine might also have OCD, or is dealing with anger issues in general, he absolutely goes to you for advice)
But enough about your profession, he also gets book recommendations from you (who wouldn't, you're so cool).
I loved @ brynnterpretations's hc that M.M. has Goodreads clout so I am absolutely incorporating it to say he boosts your book TikTok there, even though he does not speak Russian.
All in all, you've got yourself really good people by your side :)

A Chuisle Mo Chroi (Pulse of My Heart) | Ralvez
A Chuisle Mo Chroi (pronounced Mu Kooish-La Mu Kree) Irish term for Pulse of my Heart.
Summary - Spencer chronicles his unrequited love for his best friend in the form of letters to his mom. But when she meets the person Spencer has detailed to her, what happens when she inadvertently confesses her son's feelings for him?
A/N - Yes I mixed up the timeline. Just pretend the episode “300” happened after the episode “Luke”. Prison arc didn’t happen but Spencer’s mom was still moved to DC and Spencer still starts teaching. Also I don’t speak Irish. I googled terms of endearment from around the world and enjoyed this one the most. Thank you my darling @sassymoon for being my beta!
Anon request - Hi! Since you opened your requests I wanted to ask if you could write a sweet fluff fic/blurb for Spencer x Luke with them confessing their feelings and maybe having their first kiss? ❤️
Pairing - Spencer Reid x Luke Alvez
Category - fluff
CW - unrequited love, pinning Spencer, references to 1406 “Luke” and 1401 “300”, a single F-bomb, case related stuff, bisexual Spencer, first kiss.
WC - 5.4K
Spencer Reid loathed the term momma’s boy. Sure, he was close to his mom, when you grew up without a dad you clung to what you had left. Even if his mom didn’t recognise him half of the time, she was the only person in the whole world who understood him. When she was lucid at least.
Throughout high school all the much older kids had always referred to him as such due to the fact he spent so much time at home. What they didn’t know was that he spent all that time at home because he was looking after his mother. But he never told them as much, he’d rather them call him that than admit the truth to them.
When he moved to Virginia to join the BAU he wrote her a letter every single day. He told her everything, all the ins and out of the team, vague case details without getting graphic. He documented his meals, what books he’d read and everything else he could jam onto the page.
Over time life got in the way. His letters started becoming weekly, then monthly until the point when he’d forget the last time he’d put pen to paper and sent his mother one of the letters she loved so much.
He had to make more of an effort. She adored his letters, it allowed her to feel like she was there with him, embarking on his adventures alongside him. Spencer often thought they might be her last tangible grip on reality. So regardless of how tired he was, how busy he was, he ensured he would try to sit down at least once a week and write his mother a letter.
As of late his letters had revolved mostly around one topic, giving Spencer the opportunity to get his feelings out on paper so as to never have to admit them out loud. He was sure he’d written research papers shorter than the letters he was penning these days, and he was sure given his moms declining mental state she wasn’t reading them and if she was, she would surely not remember anything he had to say in those pages.
It was cathartic, almost like keeping a journal. He found the words flowed so easily when he had that particular subject matter on his mind.
We were on a case in New York this week, as usual I won’t go into detail. We caught the guy though, you’ll be pleased to know.
On the second day we were in the police precinct in Central Park and we both went to reach for a case file at the same time. Their hand brushed against mine and I swear I heard fireworks going off somewhere. Which is absurd because it was the middle of the day and of course there weren’t fireworks going off. But it happens a lot.
When they look at me I’m sure I can feel my IQ level drop in half. When they smile at me it’s like the whole world lights up. And those accidental touches make my heart race and make me feel giddy.
I know I’ve spent a lot of time in these letters talking about them recently and I’m sorry if it’s boring you. But I think I’m falling in love, mom, and I don’t know who else to talk to about it. Scratch that, I am in love and that terrifies me because they don’t look at me that way.
They’re one of my best friends, my teammate. I don’t even know if they like…it doesn’t matter. I just know I should not be feeling this way about them and I have to get these thoughts out of my head. I’m sure you’re not even reading these so you’ll never know anyway, but I feel lighter for having written it down. But just in case you do read these, I’m too scared to say their name.
Most letters read in the same vein. Spencer’s unrequited love was clouding his brain, causing him to be slower at making deductions and he feared it would hinder his work. Writing down his inane thoughts helped. Even if no one was reading them.
***
Hey mom,
Me again. We got back from a case in Ohio yesterday and Rossi invited us all over his place.
You know me, I’m not a big drinker, I had two glasses of wine but that was enough for me. Also I don’t trust myself around them when alcohol is involved, inebriation would loosen my tongue and I’m worried about what I might say. Those kinds of confessions are only for my letters.
They had quite a bit to drink though, I was watching them. I’m always watching them, it’s like I can’t stop myself. But I swear every time I looked up at them, they were looking right back at me smiling.
They even found me on the back patio while I was getting some air.
“Hey Spence, what are you doing out here?”
That’s what they said. There’s something about people calling me by nicknames that makes my heart soar. There’s no scientific data to back that up, love is all in the brain not the heart. It’s simply my brain releasing oxytocin and vasopressin, giving me a surge of positive emotions every time I see them.
Or hear them call me Spence.
“Just getting some air.” I told them, trying to ignore the way they were looking at me.
I don’t know how to describe it, it was like they were seeing me for the first time, really seeing me. It was as though the alcohol actually helped them see clearer, the way they looked at me, I just can’t describe it. But for a split second, I actually believed they might feel the same about me. Of course that was completely foolish of me to think but just for a moment I allowed myself to succumb to the fantasy.
“I uh…I wanted to talk to you about something.”
When they said that and stepped closer to me, I’m sure I saw a hint of nerves in their eyes and my breath caught in my throat. But then it got even stranger.
“Oh, you’ve got something…let me.”
Then they reached forward and brushed something off of my cheek. We’ve touched accidentally before but I think that might be the first time they’ve done it deliberately. I wish I could accurately describe to you the way their fingertips felt as they brushed against my skin but I’m not sure there are enough words in the English language. Or in any of the other languages I can speak.
There is a saying I recently learnt which comes close. It’s an Irish term “a chuisle mo chroi” which essentially translates to “pulse of my heart.” That’s what they feel like. They are a part of what keeps me alive. It’s the only thing I know how to say in Irish, but it seemed fitting.
Anyway, they never did get to tell me what it was they wanted to say because someone else joined us on the patio and soon we all called it a night.
I’ll never forget the look in their eyes though.
All my love,
Spencer
***
Hey mom,
Another letter for you. I realised recently I’ve spent so much time talking to you about a certain person and I don’t remember the last time I asked you how you were doing. I’m sorry for that. How are you? How is Bennington? I hope to get time to visit you soon.
We had a pretty rough case recently, one that affected someone on the team personally. I won’t give you a prize for guessing who.
I’ve never seen them like this before, I was genuinely scared they would do something to jeopardise their place on the team. They lost an old friend in the process and I’m scared it might tip them over the edge, that there may be no coming back from this for them.
It’s not my job to comfort them though, as much as I wish it was. I’m sitting here at my desk after everyone else has left for the night writing this letter so I don’t go after them. Because they already have a person to be their shoulder to cry on, and it isn’t me.
I think I’ve failed to tell you that before and maybe I just didn’t think it was necessary or maybe it was a deliberate choice, I’m not sure. They already have their own a chuisle mo chroi which makes my feelings even more redundant.
Thus far I’ve done a really good job at not allowing myself to dwell on these feelings except for when I write you these letters. But lately they’ve started to consume me and I don’t know how to make it stop.
They are all I think about. When I’m at home alone, I imagine what they are doing and it makes me sad. They’re probably cooking dinner for their partner, maybe cuddled up on the couch watching a movie or maybe even in bed…I won’t finish that trail of thought.
It hurts me to see them everyday and know they will never be mine. I value our friendship too much to risk losing it all over these feelings I have for them but I worry those feelings are slowly destroying my soul. They’re right there, right in front of me and I can’t have them. I never will. They will never be mine.
I’m sorry about this. If you’re reading these I hope my words don’t make you worry. I’m fine, really, I’m just having a hard time right now. But I’ll be ok, I always bounce back don’t I?
I love you mom, speak soon.
Spencer
***
Hey mom,
Sorry I haven’t written in a while, things got really crazy. I won’t go into detail because I don’t want you to worry about me but…
…you aren’t reading these letters, I know you’re not. So I suppose it doesn’t really matter if I go into detail.
I was abducted. Kidnapped. We arrested a cult leader and failed to see that one of his disciples worked for the FBI. She took Garcia, and I tried to save her, because you taught me to be the kind of man that does that. But it resulted in her taking me too.
If you are, on the off chance, reading these, I need you to know I’m ok. I’ve got some bruises but I’m mostly ok. If it wasn’t for the team I might not have been, the cult wanted to make me their three hundredth victim.
For as long as I live, I will never forget the way they looked at me after I was unstrapped and helped down the steps. They ran to me, panic written all over their face and if I didn’t know any better I might actually think they had tears in their eyes.
“Oh my god, you’re ok.”
They sounded as worried as they looked and then their hand was on the side of my face, gently stroking my bruised cheek.
“I thought…I didn’t think…”
It was as though they physically couldn’t get the words out. I was so hyped on the adrenaline of coming close to death that I didn’t realise it until later.
“I’m ok. I’m ok.” I assured them although I’m not sure why I was doing the assuring.
And then they flung their arms around my neck and pulled me so close, held me so tightly for a moment I couldn’t breathe. I was so close I could feel their erratic heartbeat and they buried their face into my neck and panted against my skin.
For a second I was dumbfounded. I just stood there frozen. But eventually I wrapped my arms around their waist relished in the moment because I knew it wouldn’t last. And as expected, a few seconds later we were torn apart by someone calling our names.
Is it wrong that I’d go through that whole ordeal again just to get them to hold me like that one more time? Is it so utterly absurd to say that almost dying was worth it because having them embrace me like that erased all of the fear?
I felt safe, mom. In their arms I felt safer than I’ve ever felt before. But it only hurt worse when they let go and pretended nothing had happened, following the rest of the team away.
Unrequited love is the worst feeling in the whole world. You’d think I could handle it given everything I’ve been through. But honestly, I think it’s worse than anything any unsub has ever done to me. I really don’t know how more I can take, mom.
I don’t know if I can keep working with them and being in love with them.
Love always,
Spencer
***
Hey mom,
You’ll be pleased to know I’m feeling a little better since my last letter. It’s been a few months I know, and I know I promised I’d write every week and I’m sorry.
I thought my writing down my feelings was helping but it started having the opposite effect. I decided to take a little time away from the BAU after everything that happened with the cult. I came to an agreement with the bureau to split my time between case hours and teaching classes at the university. I’m doing much better, my head is clearer and I’m not pining quite as much as I was the last time I wrote to you.
It’s still hard sometimes but I’ve learnt to live with the fact the object of my desire will never love me back. We remain friends, best friends, but that’s all it will ever be. And I’m ok with that. It’s just how it was meant to be.
I’ll come and visit you soon, I have more free time when I’m teaching. I’ll be sure to bring you some books and there’s a great little cafe I’ve discovered near the university that sells the best…
“Hey man, what are you doing?”
A voice snapped Spencer away from his trail of thought and he lifted the pen from the paper and looked up to see Luke Alvez standing over his desk.
“Oh, just writing to my mom.” He quickly scrambled to hide the letter from prying eyes even though most people struggled to read his chicken scratch, as Garcia dubbed it.
“Isn’t she living in DC now? I thought you said-“
“Yeah she is.” Spencer cut him off, stuffing the paper in his satchel. “But I uh…I forget all the things I want to say to her when I visit so I like to write it down.”
Luke was smiling at him, the kind of smile that Spencer often found himself lost in. The kind of smile he’d spent hours writing about in great detail to his mom.
“I’d like to meet her.” He leant against Spencer’s desk, seemingly not in a hurry to go anywhere.
“You would? Why?” Spencer frowned which made Luke chuckle.
“You talk about her so much I already feel like I know her. It would be nice to meet the woman behind the genius.”
Spencer didn’t think having his mom meet Luke was a good idea. Although even if she read his letters and remembered them, he’d never specified who he was talking about. But his mom knew him so well, surely if she saw the two of them together she’d be able to tell exactly how Spencer felt about Luke. Spencer wasn’t known for his subtlety. And even in her less lucid moments, Diana Reid was extremely astute.
But nonetheless Spencer found himself nodding.
“Uh…ok. Sure. I guess that wouldn’t be a problem.” He frowned a little. “I’m going to see her this weekend if we don’t get pulled away somewhere.”
“I’m in.” Luke beamed brighter than Spencer had ever seen.
“You uh…you don’t have plans with Lisa?”
Luke chuckled, leaning forward and patting Spencer’s shoulder.
“I know you’re not here all the time, Doc, but have you been living under a rock? Lisa and I split up months ago.”
Spencer hated the way his heart seemed to do somersaults in his chest at this. How had he missed that? Had he been so consumed in the overwhelming unrequited love he was feeling that he’d completely missed what was going on around him?
“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.” Spencer hoped his voice didn’t give away how unsorry he was.
“It’s ok, these things happen. She wasn’t a, uh, good fit for me.” His eyes seemed to sparkle as he spoke but Spencer didn’t know why. He chose to ignore it. “You heading out?”
“Yeah, sure.” Spencer nodded, grabbing up his things and shutting off his computer before following Luke over to the elevators.
And he only had a handful of heart palpitations in the process.
***
The weekend rolled around without a case and as promised, Luke accompanied Spencer to visit his mom.
Spencer made a point of not hanging out with Luke outside of work, not unless the rest of the team were involved anyway. Over the years Luke had asked Spencer to grab a beer with him on multiple occasions but Spencer always made up an excuse as to why he couldn’t go.
He knew it was only due to the fact that he was the only other guy on the team around the same age as Luke. Although that did offer up some confusion as to why he still asked even after Simmons joined the team. Maybe because Matt was married with kids, Spencer didn’t have anyone to go home to, much like Luke, until he’d met Lisa anyway. And once he met her, the invitations stopped coming.
Luke picked Spencer up at ten am on the dot, just like they’d planned, he even brought Spencer coffee from his favourite coffee shop down the street with the perfect amount of sugar. If he wasn’t already smitten with this man, he would have been now.
Luke drove and they listened to the radio as they travelled to Diana’s facility, giving Spencer something to focus on that wasn’t the close proximity to Luke he found himself in. They made idle chit chat, it wasn’t lost on Luke how Spencer wouldn’t look at him.
When they pulled up in the parking lot of Diana’s facility, Luke cut the engine and turned to face the younger man.
“Does this make you uncomfortable? If you don’t want me to meet her I can just wait in the car.” Luke questioned him.
“No, no I can’t ask you to do that after you’ve driven me out here.” Spencer shook his head.
“I don’t mind. It’s nice to actually spend some time with you outside of work.” Luke felt his cheeks burning as he spoke.
Spencer frowned, noticing the way Luke reddened although he wasn’t sure why.
“I’m just worried what state she might be in. I don’t want you to meet her if she’s erratic. And as of late she’s been like that quite a lot. She barely even knows who I am half of the time.” Spencer changed the subject.
“How about I come in with you and I’ll hang back while you see how she is. If she’s not in a good state I’ll wait in the car.” Luke’s blush faded and he smiled at Spencer.
“Yeah, I guess that works.” He nodded, quickly getting out of his seatbelt and exiting the car.
Luke followed him across the parking lot and up the front steps of the building. He noticed the way Spencer clenched and unclenched his hands at his sides as he walked and it only then occurred to him what this must be like for him. It must take its toll, never knowing what state he would find his mother in, never knowing if his own mom would recognise him until it was too late.
Luke prayed in his head that today his mother would know who he was. He didn’t want Spencer to suffer that embarrassment with him here to witness it.
Spencer went on ahead into the day room while Luke hung back. He’d never been overly religious, not the way his parents were anyway, but what took place next might just make a believer out of him after all.
He watched Spencer tentatively approach the woman Luke recognised from the photograph on his desk. She was in an armchair in the window, her head in a book so much like her son. She looked up when she heard movement, looking up at the man standing before her. A few seconds passed before she suddenly leapt to her feet, throwing her arms around Spencer.
“Spencer!” Luke heard her call. “Oh how I’ve missed you.”
The size of the smile that broke out in Luke’s face could only be beaten by Spencer’s own. Spencer hugged his mother back while Luke watched, his heart feeling like it was floating out of his body. When the hug ended, Spencer turned to Luke with a smile and motioned him over.
“Mom, this is my friend Luke. Luke Alvez. We work together at the BAU.” Spencer tried to keep his expression as neutral as possible as he introduced Luke.
“It’s so nice to meet you Mrs Reid, I’ve heard so many things about you.” Luke held out his hand which Diana shook.
“Luke…” she mused as the three of them took a seat. “I’m sure Spencer has told me about you but the name doesn’t ring a bell.”
“Sure it does mom, I’ve told you about the whole team.” Spencer hated using his mothers memory loss to his advantage because she was right, he’d never mentioned Luke, not by name anyway.
“Well if you say you have, you must have.” She gave Spencer a look that told him she didn’t believe him.
“How are you finding it here in DC?” Luke spoke, sensing a strange tension between mother and son and trying to ease it.
“Oh you know, dear, a nuthouse is a nuthouse, no matter the city.”
“They prefer the term psychiatric facility, mom.” Spencer rolled his eyes.
A nurse came over and offered them drinks. Diana opted for chamomile tea, they didn’t encourage coffee drinking for the residents, while Spencer and Luke both took the caffeine route. Once the three of them were alone, Spencer spoke again.
“This is the best I’ve seen you in a long time. You seem…clear.” He said for lack of a better word.
“I feel clear.” Diana nodded with a soft smile that Luke thought was the spitting image of her sons. “The doctors say it won’t last but it’s a nice reprieve.”
“I can only imagine.” Spencer sniffed a little and Luke couldn’t help but reach out and place his hand on his arm.
Spencer turned to look at him, unshed tears behind his eyes. Diana looked between them, a small smirk tugging at her lips as she watched the way her son and Luke looked at each other.
“Friends you say?” Diana spoke up, causing Luke to quickly pull his hand away.
“Yes.” Spencer nodded, swallowing thickly. Really good friends.”
“Some might even say best friends.” Diana shook her head in amusement. “Sorry my memory is not what it used to be. So you met at work?”
“Yeah, I’ve been at the BAU for almost three years now.” Luke answered.
“What did you do before?”
“Mom, it’s not the Spanish Inquisition.” Spencer scolded her.
“It’s ok.” Luke laughed with a shake of his head. “Before the BAU I worked for the Fugitive Task Force, man hunting I suppose. And before that I was in the military, the 75th Rangers.”
“You served overseas?”
“Yeah, I did a tour in Iraq and a couple in Afghanistan.”
“Your father was a soldier.” Diana didn’t ask, she stated. She always had been good at reading people.
“He was, yes.” Luke smiled, so many things about Spencer making so much sense now he’d met his mother.
“Ok, can we stop grilling my friend now?” Spencer interjected.
“It’s not grilling, Crash, it’s getting to know him. He’s clearly important to you.” Diana spoke like she was speaking to a small child.
Spencer couldn’t help the blush that spread to his cheeks and he tried to hide it from Luke and looked down at his lap.
“Yeah he’s important to me, he’s my friend.” He emphasised the last word.
“Do you know you’re the first “friend” Spencer has ever brought to meet me?” She used air quotes around the word friend and Spencer wanted the ground to swallow him whole.
“Mom!” He cried in exasperation.
“What? It’s true.” She shrugged, not perturbed by Spencer’s tone.
Thankfully their drinks were brought over and Spencer managed to direct the conversation onto literature and what she’d been reading lately.
Luke took a backseat just content to listen. Spencer wouldn’t make eye contact with him anymore and Luke didn’t know why. He thought he was missing something but he just couldn’t pinpoint what.
**
After a few hours of conversation with Diana she started to get tired and the boys decided to let her rest. Spencer excused himself to use the bathroom before the drive back into the city.
Once they were alone together, Diana’s eyes sparkled as she looked at Luke.
“So you must be the one.” She clapped her hands together in excitement.
“The one?” Luke’s brows knitted together.
“The one in Spencer’s letters!” She looked so pleased, not deterred by Luke’s obvious confusion. “Oh I must have hundreds of them detailing this mystery person. But it has to be you. You’re the best friend my son is in love with.”
Luke felt his breath hitch in his throat as he stared at the older woman in shock. The combination of the schizophrenia and altzeimers often made her confused, that’s all this was. Luke just had to be delicate in how he approached this, not wanting to call her crazy to her face.
“Uh…I don’t think so.” He tried to laugh it off. “Maybe you’re mistaken?”
“Oh no, Spencer is very clear in his letters about being in love with his best friend. A member of the team.” She leant forward, her elbows on her knees.
“Uh…he might be talking about JJ. Definitely not me.” Luke shook his head.
“My son is incredibly smart.”
“He is.” Luke agreed.
“If he were talking about a woman he would have said she. But in every single letter he used gender neutral pronouns. He wouldn’t do that unless…” she trailed off, eyes sparkling at Luke.
“Spencer isn’t…I uh, I don’t think that he’s…” he scratched the back of his neck.
“Don’t worry, dear. He never came out to me either. But a mother always knows.” She tapped the side of her nose.
Before Luke could reply, not that he knew how to reply, Spencer returned, offering Luke a smile.
“Are you ready to go?”
“Yeah, sure.” Luke nodded, pushing himself to his feet. “It was nice to meet you Mrs Reid.”
“Oh please,” she smirked, standing and pulling Luke into a tight embrace. “Call me Diana.”
Spencer hugged his mom goodbye and soon the two were leaving again. They made it out to the front of the building and as Spencer was heading towards the parking lot, Luke’s voice stopped him in his tracks.
“Your mom told me about your letters.”
Spencer’s back straightened and he took a breath before he slowly turned back to face Luke.
“Letters?” He tried to buy himself some time.
“Yeah.” Luke took a few steps closer to him. “The ones where you told her about your best friend who you're in love with.”
“Ah.” Spencer sighed. “Those letters.”
“I tried to tell her it was probably just JJ.” Luke looked suddenly serious, his jaw set.
“Uh yeah.” Spencer nodded. “You got me. I’m in love with JJ. Really awkward, please don’t tell anyone.”
Spencer turned to leave again but then Luke’s hand was circling his wrist, keeping him in place.
“You didn’t use gender specific pronouns.”
“So?”
“So why didn’t you?”
“I don’t know.” Spencer shook his head. It was no wonder Luke was so good at getting criminals to confess to their crimes because he was making Spencer want to confess too.
“Yeah, you do.” Luke shrugged. “You never told me you were gay.”
“I…I’m…not?” Spencer sighed, scrunching his nose. “Bisexual maybe? I don’t really know what I’d call it, which I guess is why I’ve never told anyone.”
“So you’re in love with a guy, who is your best friend and that you work with?” Luke clarified.
“It would seem so.” Spencer felt his heart start to race. “And I inadvertently outed myself to my mother and then to you. So it’s a good day to be me.”
“I mean that only leaves three people.” Luke’s brow furrowed. “You’re not that close to Matt, and I would think Rossi was too old for you.”
“Would you believe me at all if I said it was Anderson?”
“Your mom didn’t know my name.” Luke seemed to ignore him, stepping even closer to him. “Your mom didn’t know my name because you never mentioned it did you? You spoke about me but never said my name.”
“Fuck,” Spencer hung his head. “Fine, the secrets out, ok? God I didn’t even think she was reading those letters!”
Luke swallowed and raised his hand to cup Spencer’s jaw, lifting his face so he would look at him.
“What are you trying to say, Spence?”
Spencer tried to ignore the way his heart did a cartwheel at the way Luke was touching him and the use of his nickname.
“Please just keep in mind that I don’t want to lose you ok? You’re one of my best friends and I don’t want things to be weird between us.” Tears swam in his eyes.
“Just say it.” Luke croaked.
“I…goddamnit,” his first tear fell. “I’m in love with you, Luke. I’m sorry.”
“Why are you sorry?” Luke kept his hand on Spencer’s face.
“Because I just ruined our friendship, right?”
Luke surprised him when he laughed, moving even closer still to him.
“You know you aren’t the only one who talks to their mom about their secret crush?” Luke chuckled with a shake of his head. “Only I’m not shy in mentioning his name.”
“You…I…I don’t understand.” Spencer mumbled.
“Yes you do.” Luke laughed again. “You’re a genius right?”
“Quantifiably.”
“Well then, what are the facts telling you, Spence? All those times I asked you out for drinks, the way I can’t keep my eyes off of you when you’re in a room. The way I can’t stop looking at your lips right now…” Luke inhaled sharply. “What do those things tell you?”
“I…I have a theory.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Hmm.” Spencer nodded.
“Wanna test it out?”
“Most definitely.”
Luke chuckled again before closing the small space between them, and still keeping his hand cupped around Spencer’s jaw, he kissed him.
Spencer whimpered against Luke’s lips, his knees buckling beneath him. The kiss was gentle but filled with so much longing it almost took Spencer’s breath away.
It was only brief and when Luke pulled away he was smiling at Spencer from ear to ear.
“I love you too, by the way.” He shrugged.
Spencer made another whimpering sound and couldn’t help himself but lean in and kiss Luke again, slightly deeper this time. Luke wrapped him in his arms and held him close.
“A chuisle mo chroi.” Spencer mumbled against his lips.
“What is that?” Luke replied.
“It’s Irish. Don’t worry about it.”
Luke chuckled, kissing him again before leaning his forehead against Spencer’s.
“Mi vida.” Luke whispered, stroking back Spencer’s messy hair.
“I speak Spanish, you know? Mi vida means my life, romantically speaking.”
“Of course you do.” Luke’s cheeks flushed in embarrassment.
Spencer let out a small sigh, running his fingers up Luke’s strong bicep, over his shoulder blade and over the base of his neck.
“A chuisle mo chroi. The pulse of my heart.” He confessed, causing Luke to kiss him once more, so passionately Spencer felt as though he was floating.
From the window, Diana smiled to herself as she watched the two men on the sidewalk, her heart soaring for her son. She continued to watch for a moment or two, a warm, fuzzy feeling enveloping her as she leant against the window frame and whispered to herself, “A mother always knows.”

Fic Roundup - Multi-Chapter
It's been awhile since I went through all my stories, so I figured this would be a good time (before I start my next multi-chapter fic) to do a little organizing.
So here's a list of all my multi-chapter works for easy access:
'Cause There's Magic In My Bones (Magicatra AU) : Easily my most ambitious project - a three-part series about Catra as She-Ra. Obviously extremely canon divergent, minor warnings for extremely low self-esteem and temporary sort of character death. Fun Fact: Every title, including the title of the overall series, comes from an Imagine Dragons song.
This Is My Kingdom Come | This Burden Came To Me | Smoke and Mirrors | Here's To My Yesterday (post-series onshot)
I have faced it, a life wasted: The very first She-Ra AU I ever wrote. Catra and Adora reunite after not speaking for 8 years following Catra crashing a car they were in while driving drunk. The reunion brings a few unpleasant secrets to light. Major Themes: Alcoholism and Recovery, Abusive Mothers, Chronic Pain, Head Injuries.
Accompanying Oneshot But why let the sad song play: Snapshots of Catra's birthdays throughout the years
Fun Fact: Both titles are from Pearl Jam's song Life Wasted.
Always A Heartbeat From Me: Werewolf/Werecat childhood best friends to lovers AU. Adora and Catra grow up together in a wonderful and loving environment, where they can be themselves and love each other, until tragedy strikes, and both their worlds fall apart. Major Themes: CHARACTER DEATH, fake character death, GRIEF, trauma. This story has a happy ending, but it takes a hot minute to get to it.
Accompanying Oneshot Series Between The Heartbeats: The stories of what happened between chapters and after the end of the series.
All Eyes On Me: Drunken Dial/Wrong Number AU. Catra is a retired musician dealing with years of abuse by her record label, Adora accidentally calls her after mixing up the digits in her friend's new phone number. Yes the title is from the Bo Burnham song. Major Themes: Abuse in a professional setting, Coming out, Transgenderism
The Day The Sun Vanished: Alien AU based on The Sun Vanished ARG. Horde Prime's forces invade the planet, taking out all sources of light to drive people out of their homes and make them easier to capture. Best friends Adora and Catra survive several weeks alone in their homes before they're force to flee into the world.
It's dangerous to go alone: Streamer AU. Adora and Catra dated and broke up five years ago after crazy fans of Adora's YouTube channel went after Catra, driving her off the Internet and across the country to escape it. Now she's remaking her online persona, and will be facing Adora again. Yes, the title is from the Legend of Zelda. This story's been described as "a love letter to video games", and that sticks with me.
Leap of Faith: In one universe, Adora is Spider-Woman, with the help of her best friend Catra. In another universe, Catra is Spider-Cat, with the help of her best friend Adora. Unfortunately, every hero has a tragic back story. Fortunately, the multi-verse has other ideas. Title is from Into The Spider-Verse, with all the chapter titles being songs from that soundtrack. MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH.
Little Wonders: Catra and Adora (who is trans but very not out as a teenager) have a relationship in high school that mysteriously ends when Catra is sent to a new foster home and never contacts Adora again. Ten years later, Catra's child walks into Adora's fifth-grade classroom. Major Themes: Transgenderism, long lost lovers, surprise you're a parent, teen pregnancy

Christopher Hitchens and his wife Carol Blue at a Washington Correspondents Dinner in 1995 (Photo by Dafydd Jones)
"I miss his perfect voice. I heard it day and night, night and day. I miss the first happy trills when he woke; the low octaves of “his morning voice” as he read me snippets from the newspaper that outraged or amused him; the delighted and irritated (mostly irritated) registers as I interrupted him while he read; the jazz-tone riffs of him “talking down the line” to a radio station from the kitchen phone as he cooked lunch; his chirping, high-note greeting when our daughter came home from school; and his last soothing, pianissimo chatterings on retiring late at night.
I miss, as his readers must, his writer’s voice, his voice on the page. I miss the unpublished Hitch: the countless notes he left for me in the entryway, on my pillow, the emails he would send while we sat in different rooms in our apartment or in our place in California and the emails he sent when he was on the road. And I miss his handwritten communiqués: his innumerable letters and postcards (we date back to the time of the epistle) and his faxes, the thrill of receiving Christopher’s instant dispatches as he checked-in from a dicey spot on some other continent.
The first time Christopher went public and wrote about his illness for Vanity Fair, he was ambivalent about it. He was intent on protecting our family’s privacy. He was living the topic and he didn’t want it to become all-encompassing, he didn’t want to be defined by it. He wanted to think and write in a sphere apart from sickness. He had made a pact with his editor and chum, Graydon Carter, that he would write about anything except sports, and he kept that promise. He had often put himself in the frame, but now he was the ultimate subject of the story.
His last, unfinished, fragmentary jottings may seem to trail off, but in fact they were written on his computer in bursts of energy and enthusiasm as he sat in the hospital using his food tray for a desk.
When he was admitted to the hospital for the last time, we thought it would be for a brief stay. He thought – we all thought – he’d have the chance to write the longer book that was forming in his mind. His intellectual curiosity was sparked by genomics and the cutting-edge proton radiation treatments he underwent, and he was encouraged by the prospect that his case could contribute to future medical breakthroughs. He told an editor friend waiting for an article, “Sorry for the delay, I’ll be back home soon.” He told me he couldn’t wait to catch up on all the movies he had missed and to see the King Tut exhibition in Houston, our temporary residence.
The end was unexpected.
At home in Washington, I pull books off the shelves, out of the book towers on the floor, off the stacks of volumes on tables. Inside the back covers are notes written in his hand that he took for reviews and for himself. Piles of his papers and notes lie on surfaces all around the apartment, some of which were taken from his suitcase that I brought back from Houston. At any time I can peruse our library or his notes and rediscover and recover him.
When I do, I hear him, and he has the last word. Time after time, Christopher has the last word."
- From an edited version of Carol Blue’s afterword to Mortality by her husband Christopher Hitchens

Chapter 15
Warnings: None, Readers under 18 can read this book. It is solely fluff- nothing sexual
Copyright: I do not own any Wizarding World characters that J.K. Rowling wrote. I do however own Elizabeth Kane (main character) and Trang Nyguen (best friend). There should be no use of these two names without my permission. I also do not condone any copying of this.
.💚💚.
𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝖈𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖑𝖊 𝖘𝖊𝖊𝖒𝖊𝖉 different when I woke up and over the various weeks. There was no Hagrid on the grounds. Dumbledore was no longer sitting in the high seat. Even though McGonagall was supposed to have taken his place, his seat was left empty. Madam Pomfrey had stopped visitors from coming to the hospital wing. Fear was spreading through the castle like wildfire. I had stopped hanging with Harry and Ron and Ginny as much, isolating myself from people. There was no more Quidditch, private lessons, or clubs.
I had contented myself with being by myself unless in class. I spent my days studying in Hagrid's cabin. It was abandoned, Fang enjoyed the company, and I could be in peace here. There were some times I didn't even go back to the castle and just stayed in Hagrid's bed overnight.
On some days, I performed Hagrid's tasks that I'd been used to helping with. I tended to the hens- Hagrid hadn't had times to get new roosters- pulled the weeds in the garden, and other miscellaneous things.
My visions seemed to have been backed-up over the winter and were now reacting. I was getting visions every hour. Usually, it was stupid stuff like Draco in potions telling Snape to apply for the headmaster position. Or that we were still getting exams. Nothing extremely important.
The forest also became a sanctuary and I started spending a lot of time in there, exploring, taking notes, finding new places and discovering which trees held fairies and Bowtruckles and so many other things.
A letter from dad came. Sadie found me reading a book on the floor of Hagrid's cabin. It was a new book, one of the Muggle books that Trang had sent me for Christmas. I looked up and took the letter from her beak.
"You can stay in here for a little bit if you'd like." I offered. "It's nice and cozy, just stay high enough, I don't know how Fang will react to you."
She flew about the room and settled on the back of the chair while I opened and read dads' letter.
Dear Elizabeth, I'm getting worried. I haven't heard from you for a long time. I've heard rumours from the school. Is it true that Dumbledore was removed? What is going on, you haven't told me nearly anything since Christmas. If I don't hear from you soon, I will approach the Professors. I'm sure they'll tell me something. Love, Dad P.S. I'm worried, did I mention that?
I sighed, setting the letter aside. Pulling parchment out of my bag and I grabbed my Fwooper quills and started writing to dad.
Dear Dad, I haven't been well. I don't mean I've been sick, just a bit depressed. Cornelius Fudge took Hagrid away because he doesn't have any other suspects for the Chamber of Secrets being open again. Did I mention that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened? I don't know if any of that has made the news yet. It's horrid. Yes, Lucius Malfoy got the twelve Governors to sign a piece of paper saying Dumbledore was to be removed. McGonagall's headmistress right now. Hermione was one of the victims of the chamber. The mandrakes are almost ready though so they should be up in a month or so. I miss her. I suppose I haven't been my cheerful self as much. I got caught up with boys for a time period but I quickly shed that part of me so I could focus on schoolwork. Quidditch has been canceled which was horrid luck because we might've won the cup this year. I've been spending a lot of time in Hagrid's cabin. I haven't slept in my dorm in some time. I feel safer in Hagrid's cabin. Whatever the menace is, it's in the castle, not out of it. It kind've feels like I'm living on my own almost. I didn't realize how lonely it can be, living alone, and it makes me miss you all the more. I still have Harry and Ron but it's just not the same. But, I'm just trying to press on and only focus on grades. I know you've been asking for sketches so I included some. These I drew in the Forbidden Forest. I've met a nice centaur called Firenze. Sometimes I talk about philosophy and the stars with him. (I've known him since my first year actually). Stop being worried, I'll be quite alright. I just hope Dumbledore and Hagrid come back soon. Right, well, I'm off to go to the Forbidden Forest again. I found a nice patch of purple and pink flowers that I want to draw and color before the sun goes down. I miss you horribly too. Much love, Elizabeth
I quickly tore a couple of drawings out of my sketchbook and used a shrinking spell so that they would fit into the envelope. Then, I sealed it and poked a small hole through it. I found some nuts for Sadie to eat while I tied the envelope to her leg.
"Is that okay?" I asked softly as I tied it tightly to her leg. She hooted softly and bobbed her head up and down. I gave her a sad smile, and smoothed her head feathers. She ruffled her head and nibble my ear.
"Safe flight Sadie." I whispered, kissing her head. "I'll get you some treats when you come back, okay?"
She hooted again and flew out Hagrid's open window. I closed it after she left and grabbed my sketchbook and went out to where I wanted to go.
I got back at dusk and headed up to the castle to eat. I ate with the subdued Hufflepuffs (nobody talked to me). Then, I headed back out to Hagrid's cabin. I closed the door behind me, put food in Fang's bowl, turned off the lights, made sure the window was tightly closed, and laid down to fall asleep.
.💚💚.
𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝖓𝖊𝖝𝖙 𝖒𝖔𝖗𝖓𝖎𝖓𝖌, I got dressed and headed to the Great Hall for breakfast and then made my way to Transfiguration. I dully transformed my two rabbits into slippers and was reminded of Sushi who was at Trang's parents house right now. I wished that he was here with me. The wish made me transform my slippers back into rabbits so I could pet them. I felt some of the depression wash away as the rabbits licked my face and cleaned themselves.
Then, Professor McGonagall had to walk us to Herbology. I trailed behind, not watching where I was going. Professor Snape had led the Gryffindors there as well. I didn't even notice if he'd left or not as I filed into the Herbology greenhouse.
I absentmindedly went to a random station so that I could start working at pruning Abyssinian Shrivelfigs. I usually got a whole plot to myself because I did more than any of the other students working together.
I did notice through my stupor however, that Ernie and Hannah were talking to Harry. I supposed that Ernie had apologized. I finished pruning twenty Shrivelfigs before the class was over and Professor Sprout awarded me with 15 house points. I thought it was a bit generous but then again, without the Quidditch match, the houses had to make up for lost points.
I left the greenhouse and caught up with Harry and Ron since we were going to Defense Against the Dark Arts together.
"Hello Elizabeth." Harry said, somewhat cheerfully as I approached.
"Long time no see." Ron said, sounding a bit grudgeful.
"Sorry." I apologized, not feeling sorry at all and also sorry at the same time, "I realize I've been a bit distant. I haven't been a very good friend recently."
"It's alright." Harry said, sounding earnest. Perhaps he thought that if he said the wrong thing I'd stop hanging around again.
"It's not." I said, matching his friendly tone. "But thanks for saying so. I'll be much better after this is all over. To bad we can't pin it on Draco. . ."
We took our usual spots in the back of the classroom. Ron asked me what sorts of creatures were in the Forbidden Forest. I wasn't entirely sure why he was asking but I answered, "Well, there are centaurs, who are very distant creatures. Always treat them with the highest respect. There's also unicorns, though they're quite shy of humans. Bowtruckles, fairies, imps, all sorts of things."
"Any. . .bad things?" Ron asked nervously.
"Sure," I said, pulling my Muggle book out of my bag so that I could read it throughout class. I found that Gerald's Game certainly took my attention away from Lockhart's foolishness. "There's Gytrashes-"
"What are those?" Ron asked.
"They're a spirit like animal. Most like a dog or wolf." I answered, flipping the book open. "The only thing that drives them away is light. They'll hunt in packs and eat you."
Ron gulped nervously, "What about werewolves?"
"Only on a full moon." was my answer.
"Anything else?" Ron asked.
I sighed, looking up from the sentence I'd read about three times now, trying to find my reading groove. "Perhaps. It's a large forest and I haven't explored all of it."
Ron opened his mouth to answer when Lockhart bounced into the room, practically radiating with cheerfulness. We all gaped at him, even me, lowering my book to stare at him. (Though I must admit my expression was more in disgust than anything else).
"Come now. Why all these long faces?" Lockhart cried, beaming. "Don't you people realize? The danger has passed! The culprit has been taken away-"
"Says who?" Dean asked loudly.
"My dear young man, the Minister of Magic wouldn't have taken Hagrid if he hadn't been one hundred percent sure that he was guilty." Lockhart said in a tone as though talking to a young child who didn't know anything.
"Oh, yes he would." Ron and I said together, much louder than Dean.
Lockhart turned his attention to Ron. I was starting to feel my blood boil. This class was useless anyways, why had I come in the first place? "I flatter myself I know a touch more about Hagrid's arrest than you do, Mr. Weasley." Lockhart said, sounding satisfied.
I got up from my seat, my chair screeching. I ignored all the shocked looks, grabbed my bag, and strode out of the room. It was official, that was my last class for Defense Against the Dark Arts this year. I stopped by the Great Hall, filled my bag with food, and walked out of the castle.
There were other students out and about on the grounds today. The older students who had free periods. It was a nice day, warm, and also it seemed safer outdoors than in the castle. I strode close to the Forbidden Forest and then slipped inside the cabin that I was starting to call home.
Fang's barks were loud and I quickly filled his dog bowl with food. He ate away messily while I closed the curtains and ate at Hagrid's table myself. Then, I pulled out my Transfiguration homework and started on it.
I worked late into the night, ate some fruit for dinner, made sure Fang's bowls were full, made sure the windows were locked, the curtains were pulled, and then turned out the light, and climbed into bed.
.💚💚.
𝕬𝖗𝖔𝖚𝖓𝖉 𝖒𝖎𝖉𝖓𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙, 𝖘𝖔𝖒𝖊𝖔𝖓𝖊 entered the cabin, which woke me up, and I rolled over quickly to grab my wand as the lights flashed on.
"Elizabeth?" came a shocked, but familiar voice.
"Harry?" I asked, shielding my eyes from the sudden light.
"What are you doing here?" We all asked at the same time.
"I've sort've lived here since Hagrid left." I said, sitting up, feeling all embarrassed. "I feed Fang and do some of what Hagrid would've done if he'd still been here. Now, what are you doing here?"
"Ron and I are going into the Forbbiden Forest." Harry said, laying his invisibility cloak on the wooden table. "We're going to follow the spiders."
I nodded, pushing my hair back and tied it into a ponytail. "Good lead."
Fang bounded up to Harry. "C'mon Fang, we're going for a walk." Harry said, patting Fang's leg. "D'you want to come? You'd be a good guide."
I shrugged. "Sure, I've got nothing better to do." I grabbed my wand off the table. I had a onslaught of visions as I grabbed my journal and then left it on the table. Alright, we were going to be running for our lives tonight.
I turned the lights out in the cabin and followed Ron and Harry out of the forest.
"Lumos." Harry said. His wand light up like a Muggle torch.
I did the same.
"Good thinking." Ron said. "I'd do the same but it'd probably blow up or something."
I giggled and felt my heart lighten. I'd forgotten how much I loved Ron's stupid jokes and comments.
"So, Elizabeth." Harry said as we searched the grass for spiders. "Is this why you've been so distant?"
I nodded and then remembered that it was dark and we were looking down at the grass. "A bit. I've been really upset about Hagrid and Dumbledore of course. Lockhart's getting on my nerves. I have no Quidditch or private tutoring sessions. My only sanctuary now is Hagrid's house. Plus, since all the attacks happen in the same place, I've assumed I'm actually safer in Hagrid's tiny little cabin."
"Wow." Harry said.
"I know it's not fair and it's extremely selfish." I continued, feeling guilty. "After all, everyone's going through the same thing as me so I shouldn't be reacting so badly."
"No." Harry said, sounding just a little awed. "I've felt real horrible about the whole ordeal. I just never thought about leaving the castle and staying anywhere else. Quite frankly, I don't think I'd have the guts."
I blushed with a bit of pride. Harry thought I was brave!
I scoffed, "You're extremely brave Harry. Think about last year."
Harry said nothing as he found the spiders and we started following them. Fang scampered around the three of us, sniffing tree roots and leaves.
"You've been in here a lot, right Elizabeth?" Ron asked hesitantly. I knew he was frightened of the forest.
"A bit." I lied. "Okay, a lot. Though I've never gone far in this general direction. I prefer the lighter part of the forest near the Centaur camp."
"Perhaps you should lead then." Ron said. "Plus, you know the most spells."
I shrugged, not scared at all. Though I would've liked Firenze to accompany us. "Sure."
I led the way, keeping my wand low to the ground so that I could keep track of the spiders. We were getting into the parts of the forest that were unsafe, I could feel it. It was extremely dark- much darker than I 'd ever been in. The centaurs lived deep in the forest too, but the trees were never this close. At least we were still on the path. . . until the spiders left the path.
I hesitated.
"What d'you reckon?" Harry asked breathlessly. He'd just jumped back onto Ron's foot because Fang's nose had touched his hand.
"We'll be fine." I said, keeping my voice cool and collected. I left the path all the time and technically, the spiders were a type of path. "C'mon."
We moved much slower now. We had to move through the thick trees and hop over tree stumps. I also had to crouch more often to find the trail of spiders and then lead in the general direction. After some moments, we started to travel at a downward slope and I was starting to regret coming.
I could be sleeping. I complained in my head. For some reason, sleeping made me think of Professor Snape, and I quickly returned my thoughts to the mission.
Then, Fang let out a great booming bark. All three of us jumped.
"What?" Ron nearly shouted out. I noticed he was gripping Harry's elbow very hard.
"There's something coming." I whispered, holding my wand a little higher.
"Sounds like something big." Harry said nervously.
We listened very carefully and I lifted my wand higher. The sound was coming towards our right and I turned slightly to that direction. Was it a pack of Gytrashes? The wand light should've scared them off though. . . No, it couldn't be Gytrashes because there was the sound of snapping branches. Gytrashes were spirits, they didn't make such noises.
So what was it?
"Oh, no. Oh, no, oh, no, oh-" Ron was whispering frantically under his breath.
"Shut up." Harry said frantically, starting to panic a little. "It'll hear you." Well, at least he still had some common sense.
"Hear me?" Ron asked, his voice extremely high. "It's already heard Fang!"
"I don't think it's dangerous. . ." I said slowly, starting to walk towards the sound. I had a good feeling about this.
"Are you crazy?" Harry hissed.
I reached the top of the hill and quickly ran back down again, making Harry and Ron panic, and start to run in to the opposite direction "Wait!" I shouted, "Come back."
I stopped and turned back around as the car flew up the hill and stopped up there. It's head lights glowed brightly, showing up the entire area.
"It's our car!" Ron cried in relief.
Ron and Harry came back, nearly running up to the car. Fang however, had run into a thorn bush so I went over and helped him out. Then, I joined Ron and Harry by the car.
The car was completely empty on the inside. The sides of the car were scratched, dented, and smeared with mud. I supposed that it had been exploring the forest on it's own. To bad it hadn't flown back to Mr. Weasley although I supposed it may be a good thing for us.
"And we thought it was going to attack us!" Ron said. He seemed much happier than he had only moments earlier. "I wondered where it had gone!"
I hadn't. I tried thinking about it as little as possible. Perhaps after the end of the year I would go and deposit about 300 Galleons in their vault as repayment. I wondered how much Mr. Weasley had been fined. . . had the newspaper mentioned it? I'm sure I could find a copy of the article somewhere.
"We've lost the trail." I heard Harry say from behind me. "C'mon, let's go and find them."
Ron didn't answer and I looked up from studying the car. His eyes were fixed on whatever was behind me and his face was full of terror. My heart stopped, and then sped up, and I went to turn around to see what it was.
I was suddenly picked up and I shrieked out in terror. I didn't struggle (because the drop would've done some serious damage to my body), but moved my head around to see what had grabbed hold of me. Large. Spiders.
I whimpered softly, terrified. I had forgotten how much I hated spiders. I closed my eyes, feeling the swaying motion as the spiders carried me. I would've scrunched my body up in a ball to protect myself if I thought it would've helped. Instead, I shivered with nerves and fright, my eyes squeezed tight and feeling like I might be seasick. I'd never been a boat before, I'd never seen the ocean before but I was fairly certain that this was the sensation that sailors called seasickness. I could hear Fang squealing and barking and fighting to free himself.
We were in the spider's clutches for about twenty-seven minutes before we reached a place where the darkness was lifted. I peeked one eye open, noticing the shift in light behind my eyelids. I looked upwards in shock. There were no more trees and the stars shone through, bright and fierce. I looked down at the ground, both eyes open now.
There was a hollow, the kind that would've been in a story book. The kind of hollow where you would set up a cottage and a little garden and never be bothered for years. But no one in their right mind would set up a little cottage here. There were hundreds of spiders as large as horses, waiting. There were many spider webs too and I shivered. Imagine getting that in your hair!
But this would've been a nice place to draw. I looked around, hoping to soak in details to draw when I got back to the cabin.
The spiders closed around as the three spiders (one was carrying Harry and me) slowly made their way down into the valley. The one carrying Harry and I dropped us onto our knees.
I heard the spider say, "Aragog! Aragog!" It was hard to understand the spider because it had to click its pincers to speak.
From the domed web, a spider came up out of the gigantic hole. I stared in shock and horror. The spider was nearly the size of a small elephant. He was obviously very old. His eyes were milky white, a sign that he was blind. He also had gray fur mixed in with his black hair.
"What is it?" He asked, his pincers clicking as he spoke.
"Men." the spider said simply.
"Is it Hagrid?" Aragog asked, moving closer. His eyes wandered randomly.
"Strangers." A different spider said, dropping Ron onto the floor. The third spider followed suit, dropping Fang- almost delighted to drop his squirming package. Fang ran and cowered between Harry and I. I put a hand out on his head to comfort him.
"Kill them." Aragog said, sounding a bit fretful. Perhaps he was worried why Hagrid had not come and visited in a while. "I was sleeping. . ."
Understandable. I would want to kill anyone who woke me while I was sleeping too. Yes, yes totally understandable. . .
"We're friends of Hagrid's." Harry said suddenly.
The pincers in the hollow went wild and then quieted down.
Aragog paused. "Hagrid has never sent men into our hollow before." he said slowly.
"Hagrid's in trouble." Harry said, his breathing seemed very shallow. "That's why we've come."
"In trouble?" It sounded as though the aged spider actually cared about Hagrid. Maybe. "But why has he sent you?"
Right! Why the hell had Hagrid sent us?
Harry, I realized, was still sitting where the spider had dropped him. So was Ron. I was standing. I wondered if I should be sitting. I decided not to move.
"They think, up at the school, that Hagrid's been setting a- a- something on students. They've taken him to Azkaban."
Aragog clicked his pincers madly. I wondered if he knew what Azkaban was. It was like applause, I realized. That's what the sound reminded me of. "But that was years ago." Aragog said fretfully. He really was worried. That was sweet. "Years and years ago. I remember it well. That's why they made him leave the school. They believed that I was the monster that dwells in what they call the Chamber of Secrets. They thought that Hagrid had opened the Chamber and set me free."
"And you. . . you didn't come from the Chamber of Secrets?" Harry asked, sounding a bit confused.
"I!" Aragog cried indignantly. Yep, we were going to die. "I was not born in the castle. I came from a distant land. A traveler gave me to Hagrid when I was an egg. Hagrid was only a boy, but he cared for me, hidden in a cupboard in the castle, feeding me on scraps from the table. Hagrid is my good friend, and a good man. When I was discovered and blamed for the death of a girl, he protected me. I have lived here in the forest ever since, where Hagrid still visits me. He even found me a wife, Mosag, and you see how our family has grown, all through Hagrid's goodness. . ."
Awww! So maybe we weren't going to die!
"So you never- never attacked anyone?" Harry asked, his breathing a bit deeper.
"Never." The old spider croaked more calmly. "It would have been my instinct, but out of respect for Hagrid, I never harmed a human. The body of the girl who was killed was discovered in a bathroom. I never saw any part of the castle but the cupboard in which I grew up. Our kind like the dark and the quiet. . ."
I gave a start and looked at Ron. The girl had been killed in a bathroom?
"But then. . ." I turned my attention back to Harry. "Do you know what did kill the girl? Because whatever it is, it's back and attacking people again-"
The spiders interrupted, clicking their mandibles angrily and shifting their many legs. I shivered and looked about me nervously. My hand immediately went into my pocket where my wand was at the moment. We were totally dead.
"The thing that lives in the castle, is an ancient creature we spiders fear above all others. Well do I remember how I pleaded with Hagrid to let me go, when I sensed the beast moving about the school."
"What is it?" Hagrid asked, a bit urgent and yet, a bit excited.
The spiders hissed. "We do not speak of it." Aragog said angrily. "We do not name it! I never even told Hagrid the name of the dread creatures, though he asked me, many times."
Harry got to his feet, helping Ron up. The other spiders were closing in and I drew my wand, keeping it pressed closely to my body. Aragog was back away into the domed web.
"We'll just go, then." Harry called desperately to Aragog.
Aragog answered slowly, "Go? I think not. . ."
"But- but-" Harry seemed to be racking his brain for an excuse to not die.
"My sons and daughters do not harm Hagrid, on my command. But I cannot deny them fresh meat, when it wanders so willingly into our midst. Good-bye, friend of Hagrid."
Harry and I spun around. The spiders were closing in. I reacted quickly, shooting spells as the spiders all around us. They backed up a little but I knew it was hopeless. There were too many of them, Ron's wand was broken, and Harry was drawing his much to slowly.
I shot spell after spell at the spiders. If I could keep us alive long enough. . .there! There was the loud noise. I turned, expectantly as Mr. Weasley's car came down the hill, headlights glaring, horn hoking, knocking spiders aside. It screeched to a halt in front of us and its doors opened.
I kept shooting spells while Harry dived into the front seat, yelling at Ron to grab Fang and for me to get into the car. Like I didn't know that the car was the safe place! I made it into the passenger seat, slamming the door behind me. Ron tossed Fang into the car and before the doors were even shut the car was driving away. I clutched the arm seats and closed my eyes, my heart pounding.
"Are you okay?" I heard Harry's voice asking.
I nodded, feeling that if I answered, I may throw up, and I didn't think the car would react kindly to that.
"That was quick spell work Liz." Harry said again.
"Thanks." I murmured.
The car stopped at the edge of the forest and we all climbed out. Fang shot off back towards Hagrid's cabin. I made sure my legs wouldn't collapse underneath me and I made my way back to the cabin as well. I certainly wasn't going to be staying here tonight. I gathered up my things while Harry came in and grabbed the invisibility cloak.
"Going back up to the castle?" He asked.
I nodded, "I can't stand the idea of staying out here alone. I retract my earlier statement. It might not be safer out here than in the castle."
Harry laughed but it sounded strained. He went out to check on Ron and I checked on Fang. He was alright and I covered him with his blanket. I double checked the food bowls and then turned the lights off and headed outside.
Ron was violently sick in the pumpkin patch and I cleaned up his mess with my wand. I certainly wasn't going to work on the garden with vomit in there.
"That's exactly Hagrid's problem!" Ron said, continuing a conversation that they'd been having. He thumped his fist against the wall of his cabin. "He always thinks monsters aren't as bad as they're made out, and look where its' got him! A cell in Azkaban! What was the point of sending us in there? What have we found out, I'd like to know?"
"That Hagrid never opened the Chamber of Secrets." Harry said, clutching the invisibility cloak in his arms and motioned me over so that we could start walking under it. "He was innocent."
Ron snorted. I supposed that he didn't find Aragog as an innocent case.
"Riddle got the wrong person." I whispered out loud. We reached the castle and stopped talking. Harry pushed open the large front doors and we slipped inside. There were many sentries walking about and we had to take it slowly. I slipped out from under the cloak as we approached one of the corridors near Hufflepuff common room.
I made my way carefully through the hallways, turned the last corner before the common room, and bumped into Professor Snape of all people. I fell backwards and would've fallen to the ground if he hadn't caught my arm and pulled me back up again. The pull was so violent our noses touched.
"What are you doing out of your dorm!" He hissed angrily.
My tongue twisted. He was still touching my arm. He quickly let go. "Are you mad?" He asked, still extremely angry.
"I- um-. . ."
"What!" he glared at me.
I took a deep breath, feeling strangely defensive. "I've er- been sleeping in Hagrid's cabin." My cheeks turned red.
Professor Snape stopped being angry for two seconds and asked in surprise, "Why?"
On the defensive I said, "I think better there. I don't know, it's peaceful there. I feel less lonely when I'm there. Safer."
"You're lonely?" He repeated, sounding a bit confused. My cheeks flushed red again.
"It's not so bad." I muttered.
We stared at each other for a moment. Then he said, "Go to bed Elizabeth."
"Aren't you going to take house points from me?" I asked curiously, as he walked past me.
"No. Go to bed- Now."
Confused, I slipped inside the Hufflepuff Common room and headed up to my dorm. I set my bag down by the bed and collapsed on it, fully dressed, kicking off my muddy shoes. I fell asleep quickly, feeling that something horrible was going to happen. . . and soon.

pleaseeee tell me more about “ To all the boys tedmort” 🤩
Play along with my wip ask game here!
Hiiiii! I’m so sorry this took so long to respond to! I had to go do real life stuff but I am definitely excited to answer this one!
This one makes use of a lot of those high school AU headcanons I have for if Teddy and Mort went to high school together that I mentioned in Babs’ ask! This is absolutely a tedmort high school AU except this story takes place when they’re adults.
I know that might be a little disappointing but hear me out! Mort’s mother is selling her house after she moves into the Elegant Doily retirement home. Mort and his friends help her clean out her house to prepare for the sale and this includes Mort’s childhood bedroom. There’s a lot of memories in there; Bob, Linda, Mort, and Teddy spend a lot of time reminiscing about high school. While going through a box of Mort’s old school books, seventeen year old Tina finds a bundle of letters that were never sent. So she sends them!
Five letters for five boys — it turns out in high school Mort wrote these love letters throughout his years in school as a way to get his feelings out but never sent them. The story is how each boy, now a grown man, finds the letters and their responses.
Of course there’s one for Teddy too!
@silhoutteintheshadows has collaborated with me on this fic to write all five letters! I definitely have the other half of this story, when they’re actually in high school, in the works but it’s mostly just notes and vibes at the moment!
Here’s a teaser of the fic when Tina first finds the letters:
“Heh, you kids wouldn’t understand passing notes,” Teddy told Tina and her siblings as he unfolded another sheet of notebook paper. “Back in our day, we didn’t have cell phones.”
“Yeah, we had to fold the paper into tiny little squares and hope the teacher didn’t see it and read it aloud to the class!” Mort laughed, snatching the paper away from Teddy, grinning at the contents.
“Can I see?” Tina asked, craning her neck to look over Mort’s shoulder. He flushed a little and sucked his bottom lip into his mouth, angling the paper back.
“Ha…maybe not,” Mort said, glancing at Tina’s mother from the corner of his eye. She frowned; they’d been written when Mort had been a teenager, the same age as she was now probably. She didn’t understand why she wasn’t allowed to see.
Linda leaned over, forgetting her job, “Hey, lemme see! You two weren’t talking bad about me again, were you?”
Mort grinned, very purposefully not looking at Teddy, “Of course not! Actually, I think you were saying some pretty nasty things about Denise—“
“Denise?” Teddy looked at them in shock. Tina knew about Denise and from what she’d heard, she didn’t care one bit for her.
“Oh, calm down,” Linda said dismissively, abandoning her post completely and coming over to stand behind Mort. She glanced at the paper and grinned. “Hey, I remember this. You said Denise was a skank—“
“She wasn’t a skank!” Teddy protested and tried to grab for the paper. Mort held it out of his reach, handing it to Linda. Louise abandoned the pile of papers, scooting off the bed, and trying to get a peek at the papers. Tina shrugged, glancing back down into the box in front of her.
More junk. A rubber band ball, a couple of pens that looked like the ink had dried out of, and…a stack of letters. Sealed shut in little envelopes decorated very plainly with only a first and last name printed in neat script on the front that Tina now recognized as Mort’s handwriting. She ran her fingers over the top one.
Gordon Bosco
Why was there a letter to the Sergeant in here? Tina wondered to herself, glancing over at the group of adults laughing and joking like they were Tina’s age again; it was almost impossible to imagine her parents and her Uncle Teddy at seventeen, but seeing all of Mort’s memories cemented the idea in her mind. Nobody was paying any attention to her anymore, not even Louise. She went back to the stack of letters, flipping it to the back of the pile.

soobin 𖹭 female!reader
my idol. [chap1]
synopsis: a teenage crush carried over to adulthood. imagine a 15-year-old schoolgirl having a secret crush on her brother's 18-year-old best friend.
wc: 2.6k
content: brother's (yeonjun's) best friend, lighthearted fluff, attempted humor, slow burn, age gap (small/3yrs), brother!yeonjun, best friend!changbin, underage drinking (soobin), yeonjun and changbin are seniors in high school, y/n is a sophomore, communication, lowercase intended
zuzu's notes: main masterlist. this was originally supposed to be a long ass oneshot but I got a little carried away and now I'm sort of interested in it as a series. i'm liking the soft vibe it has — reminds me of “Hidden Love” which is also a really good romance if you're not into the whole "drama" thing. please tell me if you enjoy this andni might continue it! ♡
it wasn't a secret.
the moment that you realized you fell for choi soobin you immidiately told your best friend — and now all of your closest friends know and it's the talk of the group. all of them were always encouraging your relationship to the “next level” whenever the topic came up, whatever the “next level” even was.
you've always liked soobin.
you've liked him since you were nine but you didn't know your supposed “little crush” on him would stick around until now. all of your friend's who change their crushes every few weeks call you a prude.
your brother and soobin were the hot shit at school, everyone just knew they were trainees at BigHit Entertainment, where BTS, the biggest thing that has happened since God knows when, debuted 6 years ago. yeonjun was playing one of their songs in public and soobin recognized it so and they bonded over it. ever since then they were attached to the hip. they constantly hung out in your house, but you and soobin weren't close. if you didn't know any better, you would assume they were dating.
“hey, y/n, did soobin come over today?” changbin asks innocently, pencil placed on his ear as he watches you intently for your answer; he's your senior and also happens to be your assigned tutor for English — every student with a failing English grade got one. and you, ever-so hung up on soobin totally didn't focus in class as you wrote an imaginary love letter and made doodles of little rabbits on it instead of taking notes and listening like normal students do, resulting with an F on your report card.
you slowly shook your head in response, a slight pout to show your disappointment as you tell changbin that whenever soobin and yeonjun aren't at home or school, they're practicing at the BigHit entertainment building... no, you don't spend most of your days wondering about him and if he thinks about you as well, how busy he is and how he's rarely around anymore for you to admire... but you do.
in middle school you'd just sneak innocent little peaks and glances and make chibi doodles of him in your notebook. but now... it's different. you like him more and more with each passing moment and you're not getting over him. you can't even imagine getting over him. whenever you're alone with your brother, you keep asking him all sorts of questions about soobin and making excuses for him to come over, and when yeonjun gives in and calls soobin to come over, you keep hiding behind chairs and sneaking peaks (just like middle school) as he and your brother play video games or watch a show.
you keep offering them sliced fruits, sandwiches or juice until your brother ever so rudely asked you to scram and leave them alone because “soobin has trouble focusing” and that you should do your homework instead because, quote, “your grades are stinker than sewege waste with dead rats.” yeonjun is 100% oblivious to your crush on his best friend and even so, he is not being a wingman. even soobin himself could probably tell, that's how dumb yeonjun was about it... but you had no problem with it. you weren't deliberately trying to hide it anyway.
soobin sent you a quick smile saying it's alright and that you can stick around if you want, which makes you giggle and hop on the couch and nuzzle yourself in the space between them, yeonjun glares at you and rolls his eyes — he didn't want to hang out with you in the moment. but you wanted to be with soobin, even if you're browsing through your phone and he's playing games. you liked his presence, you didn't need his attention and you think that was what you liked most about your little crush.
“I finished Learning Task 5.” you mumble, adding in a period and you lift your paper, shaking it for the ink to dry. your curious eyes hover to changbin's phone and he seems to be scrolling through Instagram and liking photos of the random kpop girl groups he follows. “ya! are you here to teach me or just use my wi-fi?” you scold your senior and conk the back of his head, and he conks you back with a pillow, causing you two to giggle like little hyenas.
“seriously though, you should work on your English—”
“shut up, my English is good.” you say in English with a thick accent — and changbin shakes is head.
“No, not like that, like this; I'm hungry!” he yells out and you playfully use him as a platform to get up and you push him backwards and he just lays there, feigning death.
“I'll go get us some snacks, I'll be right back.” you say as you enter the hallway, only to bump into a broad chest and you let out a squeak of pain, eyes squinting, hand immidiately hovering to your forehead. you open your eyes to see that it's your brother and he puts a finger to his lips, gesturing behind himself and you can sense his urgency—
“Hey, I'm going to need you to be quiet to mom and dad about this...” he whispers and you squint your eyebrows in confusion, holding your forehead in pain; his chest is really hard, it's like bumping your head on a concrete wall, you think, and he probably didn't feel anything. Yeonjun flicks his fingers to gain your attention. “Soobin got wasted at a bar, I don't know why.” and you let out an audible, dramatic gasp, covering your mouth dramatically.
“Is it stress?” Yeonjun mutters, tilting his head as he sticks his thumbs on the belt holes of his jeans. “Anyway, I had to go pick him up and these thugs in the alleyway were staring me down so I had to— uh, yeah anyways I know his parents are home and I didn't want them to see him like this and I'm sure he doesn't want them to see him like this, so...” he leads on, seeing if you understand, and you just nod along, eyes squinting.
“Don't worry, I get it.” you tap your brothers shoulder and walk past him to get to the kitchen, you're a man with a mission — you have your priorities straight. make food for hungry changbin.
“I have to take a shower. Those thugs were greasy,” he sniffs himself and scrunches his nose. “take care of soobin for me!” yeonjun says in a normal tone and you just hum in response.
as you make your way to the kitchen, you immidiately open the fridge and grab a carton of milk — you have been craving for cereal since you were in class. as you peek deeper inside the refrigerator, you see some left over tonkatsu and decide to heat it up for your guest. as you close the fridge, you hear a groan coming from the living room.
you knew it was soobin so you turned to satisfy your curious eye. you hadn't seen him in such a state and you would be lying to say you weren't interested. you grab a bucket from the sink cabinet and fill a glass with water, making your way to the living room, putting the glass on the table next to you, bucket still in hand you stop to examine him.
his forehead is sweaty, mouth slightly ajar as his breathing is heavy, chest heaving up and down as if he's running a fever and his eyebrows are furrowed as if he's having a nightmare, slight mumbles leaving his mouth every now and then. you certainly didn't enjoy seeing him like this... your mouth forms into a slight pout as you lightly slam the bucket on soobin's lap. “ya... you're really irresponsible you know that.” you mumble, even though he's half-conscious right now. you tut and turn around to go back to the kitchen.
but before you do, you give soobin one last look and sigh as make your way back.
“yeonjun-ah...” you hear him mumble.
“what? what.” you turn around in anger... you know you shouldn't take it out on him but you can't help it, plus, he's not in his right mind now anyways. you wish he wouldn't do it again... you wish you could conk his head right then and there but it would probably worsen his condition.
“m' head hurts...” he mumbles as he shifts on the couch, the bucket falling off and making a loud clatter and you rub your own forehead in frustration, hand on your waist before going to the kitchen to prepare a cold towel for his headache, coffee and hangover soup your father had taught you and your brother to make a few months prior, even though at the moment the two of you were doubting everything and telling your father that it wouldn't be convenient since the both of you swore if you were ever going to drink, you would do it responsibly... well, boy did you think wrong that it wouldn't be convenient.
as the soup is in preparation, you slowly walk to the living room with a coffee mug and cold compress in your hands, soobin seems to be fast asleep and in less pain than earlier, but he's burning up as you place a hand on his neck and forehead. you sit next to him and gently wipe his sweat with the cold towel, you lean in closely closely take in all of his features as you wipe every curve and detail of his face. you've never been this close to him in your entire life, and you couldn't help it.
his cheeks are so... squishy... and... his lips are so soft, you wipe the towel repeatedly over his lips and it takes everything in your spirit not to squish his entire face with your bare hands, you swear he's a living squeaky toy... but you don't. you abruptly stand up, sigh and nudge soobin's leg to wake him up. “hey... i made you coffee.” you say quietly and he looks around, a little confused... he nods with a low hum. you can tell he's a little embarrassed... i mean, who wouldn't be in this situation? you hand him the cold towel. “put this on the back of your head. it'll help.” and soobin reluctantly takes it from you.
“y/n-ah!” you hear changbins loud voice down the hall and you immidiately go to the hallway in a gremlin pose, placing a finger to your lips, your other hand pointing toward the living room.
“shhhhhhhhhhhh!”
changbin just squints and nods as he also places a finger to his mouth, playing along before staring into the living room to see soobin drinking the coffee, and he walks into the kitchen staring at your messy work. “what's all this? and what happened to soobin?” he says in a more soft-spoken voice.
“It's a hangover soup.” you state matter-of-factly as you grab the ladle. “oh yeah, i reheated you tonkatsu if you want.” you say as you grab the bowl of cereal you had set aside, eyes flicking over to his. “ya, did you check my work? is it good?” you ask.
“Uh-huh,” he grabs the bowl of tonkatsu and stares at you. “You're an English pro.” he says with the most American accent and you just scowl and do a motion like your about to hit him with your ladle hand.
“y/n...” you hear soobin's soft voice call out as he enters his tall figure into the kitchen, both you and changbin fling your heads toward his direction so quickly you swear you got whiplash, and he just stares at the two of you, a little dumbfounded a red blush plastered on his sweet cheeks... an innocent look on his face as if he didn't just — “ah... changbin...” he mumbles, a little surprised to see his classmate. he knew he was tutoring you, he just didn't know he was tutoring you tonight. tonight of all nights.
he turns to look at you, wide innocent eyes “I just wanted to say thank you for the coffee, and... can you please tell yeonjun that I'm going to head home now...?” he mumbles shyly. and you just stare at him, dumbfounded— the audacity???
“what do you mean?” you ask, a little annoyed. “I'm making you hangover soup right now, can you at least wait?” you ask as kindly as you could and changbin just stands there, hands together, an awkward stance.
“ah, well... i don't want to be a bother... anymore...” he says as he rubs his eye and looks anywhere but you. it's as if he's talking to an abusive authority figure, and you just shake your head. what's the use of being ashamed now? you let out a disappointed sigh and turn back to the stove.
“it would be a bigger bother if you left now, I'd have to store it in the fridge and my parents will wonder why i made it... also, i already started so just... wait for it. please.” you explain and he just nods along. whatever made you happy would make him... well, less sad.
“oh... sure.” he nodded
“y/n-ah!” you hear yeonjun walking down the hall toward the kitchen. “is soobin doing alright— geez! you all scared me!” he looks around the room before walking inside with a strut, standing in front of soobin, a little amused at the collection of people. “is this a surprise intervention? what's going on?” wiping his hair with a small towel, making eyes at all of you.
“ah, well...” soobin looks around the group awkwardly before suddenly doing a 90 degree bow, eyes clenched. “I am very... I deeply apologize...! I promise it won't happen again!” he yells out with a stutter at the beginning of his apology, he's practiced it in his head prior but it didn't come out as he'd intended. wincing as his own loud voice had hurt his senses. eyes remaining closed in hopes that he could stop time then and there as to not await any unexpected reaction to his shameful behaviour of underage drinking.
“What is this?” yeonjun snickers as he walks past soobin toward the refrigerator behind him, slapping his butt with the towel he had around his neck. “don't be like that. we've had our up's and down's, yeah? this is nothing compared to what we'll go through as idols.” he said as he opened the fridge and grabbed an energy drink, looking at you and changbin and he lets out a hum.
“don't worry, y/n and changbin will keep quiet as long as you don't make enemies with them. isn't that right, my brethren?” he asked a little condescendingly as he took a sip, you and changbin reluctantly agree with his arrogant statement and soobin still lightly chuckles along as to not be a mood spoiler — or maybe yeonjun was just a mood maker.
ever so, soobin remains unable to make eye contact with anyone in the room as he scratches the back of his head, honestly, he assumed everyone in the room would take him for some sort of failure by now. “I'm still very ashamed, I... can't face any of you right now...” he admits and yeonjun just pats his back.
“don't think too much about it, yeah?” he wipes his hand up and down as he takes another sip. “it already happened. as long as you know what you did wrong and won't do it again, yeah? if it happens again, that's ain't a mistake, that's a choice.” soobin just nods because he didn't want to be scolded any longer... even though he knows it's what he deserves. “what do you say? wanna go for round two?” yeonjun shakes his energy drink bottle with a cheeky smile and soobin just stares at him, eyes wide and mouth pouting.
“p-pardon?”
“I'm kidding.” yeonjun states firmly, his cheeky smile fading. and soobin nods in acknowledgement. “too soon?” yeonjun asks you and changbin who blankly stare at him in pure, agonizing silence and he just nods with a flat mouth. “okay.” he whispers. “come on, let's go watch ginny and georgia to feel better about ourselves as teenagers.” he wraps an arm around soobin's shoulder who reluctantly nods along and they go to the living room, his shame continuing to devour him and yeonjun trying his mighty best to stop it.
you and changbin exchange bombastic side-eyes before smiling a bit — yeonjun was always good at making light of a situation, whenever your parents would scold you two he would always try to cheer you up with silly jokes and funny expressions, and whenever your parents would scold him you'd be the one crying for him, yet he'd laugh and tell you it's alright. he was always like that, there's no changing him.
“this is probably gonna eat soobin up for a few weeks.” changbin says. “it's normal for senior high schoolers to drink. but he blacked out,” he adds, really expressing his intrigue as he leans on the counter. “but I guess it's different for him... he wants to be an idol... i mean, sure, it's not going to spread as long as we stay silent about it, you and i, but it's all in conscience. he wants to be a good example, an idol not just for future fans, but for his current juniors...” he turns to make eye contact with you.
“and mostly you.”
