Lily is a shitty friend because she refused to be friends with a guy who was a fucken racist to everyone but her? Would you defend a white person who liked one black girl but called every other black person a racial slur? Snape was a shitty character. The only people who can sympathize with him are those that have the same hatred within their hearts and can justify his actions. He was a horrible friend that got his ex best friend and husband killed, and bullied children because he was piece of 💩
Erm actually 🤓☝
Lily is a shitty friend because she refused to be friends with a guy who was a fucken racist to everyone but her?
She actually was a shitty friend because she smiled at her best friend being exposed
But too late; Snape had directed his wand straight at James; there was a flash of light and a gash appeared on the side of James’s face, spattering his robes with blood. James whirled about; a second flash of light later, Snape was hanging upside down in the air, his robes falling over his head to reveal skinny, pallid legs and a pair of graying underpants. Many people in the small crowd watching cheered. Sirius, James, and Wormtail roared with laughter. Lily, whose furious expression had twitched for an instant as though she was going to smile, said, “Let him down!”
Excused his bullies' behaviour
“I’m just trying to show you they’re not as wonderful as everyone seems to think they are.” The intensity of his gaze made her blush. “They don’t use Dark Magic, though.” She dropped her voice. “And you’re being really ungrateful. I heard what happened the other night. You went sneaking down that tunnel by the Whomping Willow, and James Potter saved you from whatever’s down there—”
And ended up with his bully in the end, don't tell me "She didn't owe him anything", anyone who had a friend who was bullied will tell you that they wouldn't date their ex-best friend's bully. She had the right to leave Severus, I am not against it, but she had a part in the breaking up but as always didn't take responsibility of it (she actually does it a lot somehow).
Would you defend a white person who liked one black girl but called every other black person a racial slur?
No, because that's not the case here. Here is a mixed-race boy, who has been put into a white neighbourhood, there the white people are pretty nice to him but will be mean to black people, they tell him to join them. He knows that his best friend is black but since other black people were mean to him (his father and his best friend's sister), he doesn't see anything wrong with it. Know the difference (not that I excuse racism but here is a different case than the one you're pointing out).
The only people who can sympathize with him are those that have the same hatred within their hearts and can justify his actions.
Liking a character doesn't mean you support what he does, I love Bellatrix and Lucius, but I do not support their pureblood supremacy views and think they have no redeeming qualities whatsoever, I like them because I like villains. No one justify his actions, they explain his reasons, is it justifying? No, because it's not right, but why liking a complex character if you don't understand his complexity?
He was a horrible friend that got his ex best friend and husband killed
Actually, their whole friendship was toxic, Lily wasn't an angel, Severus wasn't a demon, they both were human and had their flaws. Stop pointing to Severus and ignore Lily's faults. Do I really have to go back on the "Severus got Jily killed!!1!1!"?? Many other people explained this part already, go see their blogs instead.
and bullied children because he was piece of 💩
He actually bullied children because he wasn't totally right mentally, and he mostly is just blunt with kids because yeah Potions is extra dangerous and if you fuck one single thing up you could blow the whole ass school. Does it make his insults right? No. Does it make his temper more understandable? Yeah.
Thanks for that ask, it was my first snater ask, I'm so happy I'll frame it in my room <3

when she was reading harry potter for the first time my little sister was all like "I love harry because he hates snape" and then before I could say anything, followed it up with "I love snape because he's so mean"
my 11 year old sister understood what adult snaters can't lmao

Story time: I got into Harry Potter fandom only because my roommate would not stop talking about it.
So while she isn't a snater she also doesn't love him. For her he is how a Hogwarts student views him- mean potions professor.
That being said I got into this fandom because I was bored in Covid. Basically I was blind reacting and didn't know much details except for names of a few characters.
What I'm trying to say is that-
I DON'T KNOW WHY SNAPE IS THE FIRST GUY I FELL IN LOVE WITH OK?!!
Honestly I miss the person I used to be now there is not a day I don't think about dancing with him and just getting to hold him.
Anyways Snape Rulz.

Why are Snaters so fixated on discrediting Severus' skills? Do these people know that you can dislike a character AND still acknowledge their talents?
A few weeks ago, I came across a post where some people were accusing Severus of stealing Regulus's spells and taking credit for them. (I'm not sure how he was taking credits for them given that Severus kept most of his inventions secret)
And now I kept seeing snaters claiming that Lily was better than him at potion and he was simply stealing her notes 💀 He was literally a potion master, babes. He wouldn't need to steal her notes to excel in the subject, especially considering how well he performed after their friendship ended.
Also, this headcanon is VERY flawed because Severus and Lily stopped being friends in their fifth year at Hogwarts, while the Advanced Potion Making book was a N.E.W.T. level textbook, which was typically used by sixth and seventh-year students.
"But Slughorn praised and mentioned about Lily more than Severus."
Because she was his favourite student? Because my man preferred to keep a low profile and avoid attention on himself? Do you genuinely think Severus enjoyed showing off his skills to others? Should I remind you that he invented several spells and kept them secret from other people? (except Levicorpus, but we never found out how the spell was discovered by others)
Are y'all THAT intimidated by Severus's talents that you feel the need to erase them? First, his spells, and now his potion skills. What will you accuse him of stealing next? His poetic skill? And who is he stealing from this time? James?

It's Snape's fault
I share with you the latest madness I found on TikTok to attack Snape as usual. Now the Snaters have no more grip and are starting to deny the canon and invent things but this one made me laugh too much. I think we need to take the situation with irony.
One user (James Stan) created a video with Harry's quote after he saw Snape's worst memory. Harry questions his father. A mature behavior that gives depth to the character, you might say. But no, for the Snaters this is not conceivable, Harry is questioning James here, he sees him for the first time objectively for what he was, precisely a bully. But no, the James Stans want to convince the world that James was a perfect, sweet little angel so what do they do? Of course they blame Snape. It's his fault that Harry saw that memory.
It's not James who was wrong to bully Snape, but Snape who was wrong because he remembers it. But it doesn't end there, many snaters are so engrossed in fanfiction that they don't know the canon and end up saying things like these:
Tumblr media
Do what?
Tumblr media
Now it's clear, they don't know the canon, they haven't seen the films or read the books, otherwise it can't be explained. But luckily someone else said what I thought without me having to get into this discussion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously here the person is referring to the film that is less wors . In the book I would like to remind you that Harry invades Snape's privacy voluntarily, he secretly looks into the pensieve, it's not that he falls in there by mistake, he DECIDES to look at Snape's private memories.
In the film they certainly changed the thing where Harry, also a little angel, defends himself from Snape who is only doing his job by teaching him occlumency. But even in this case what would be Snape's fault, he didn't choose to show Harry that memory.
Zeke I don't know you but you're my hero right now, you've had way too much patience. So it's clear folks, the Snaters don't know the canon at all and even when faced with the evidence they have an answer that puts an end to any discussion:
Tumblr media
Very mature.

12, 14, 16, and 22 for Snape asks please
I am most interested in your view of Lily as a character. To me, she never really seemed to live up to the hype I see? Like, I get the point that she's supposed to be Harry's mother and is supposed to be seen as the one who can't do any harm because of the sacrifice and all that. But I don't know whether JK purposely or intentionally put, like, the worst flashbacks to portray her as angelic(?). If I remember correctly, she wasn't even talked about as much as James by Remus or Sirius, they had to add things about her in the movies.
I can't ever see Lily as a good friend to Severus. To others, maybe, but I feel like it was different with Severus. More like a complicated one that was give-and-take, including Severus. Severus, an abused poor boy from Cokeworth, who knew about the wizarding world and Lily, a girl brought up in a happy family, who knew nothing about the wizarding world. Severus was able to get a friend while Lily gained knowledge of the wizarding world. But the one thing that cements this view of mine is the line where it says that Lily looks as if she was about to smile when Severus was being flipped over. Plus, I don't care if anyone says that she tried to defend him, but girl couldn't even use her wand or take points off as Prefect?? Girl was literally making a show, or whatever you want to call it.
Sorry about the rant, but I'm all for a good friend Lily in fics but when people say she was like that in canon? Maybe at times, but not when it mattered. I'd love to hear your opinion though.
thank you for the ask, @be-at-peace05!
[snape ask game here]
12. if you had to choose a golden trio era student to be snape's friend, who would it be and why?
while i don’t subscribe to the idea that he’s his godson, snape’s affection for draco malfoy does seem to be completely sincere. malfoy is also possessed of the sort of intellectual curiosity which snape obviously values (for example, how he figures out how to repair the vanishing cabinet - it’s genuinely impressive, and the fact that this is what he might be doing is certainly something which doesn’t occur to anyone in the order) and, while there’s no doubt that snape probably has as little interest in hearing him whine about everything as lucius does, i can see them having some genuinely fulfilling chats about potions. after all, malfoy gets an outstanding at owl, he must be good at the subject and he does seem to be interested in it.
14. what do you think is snape's favourite potion to prepare?
veritaserum. you just know he was chuckling to himself the whole time he was whipping that fake batch up for umbridge.
16. were you ever a snater? how and when did you become a snover?
i’m also extremely theatrical and fond of chemistry, so snape was always my boy.
i’m also capable of understanding the genre conventions which govern children’s literature and which require him to act as he does, so even when he was being a cock to various children we were chill.
22. do you think that lily was a good friend to snape?
well… this is the big one.
and the answer is no - but.
i always think it’s worth, before discussing lily, doing some quick acknowledgement of her narrative role in the story, which is a major contributing factor to why she feels a bit of a flop in person compared to the way she’s built up by other characters.
lily’s characterisation in canon is primarily hamstrung by two things. the first, as you note, is that her sacrificial role within the story requires a certain degree of perfection - not least because the harry potter series borrows heavily from the genre conventions of christian literature. lily is the analogy for the virgin mary - as we see when her purity of spirit succeeds in inflicting the first defeat on the satan-coded voldemort which will then be fulfilled by harry-as-the-resurrected-christ in the final stages of deathly hallows. obviously, a marian symbol is denied the complexity of other women - and that’s without even getting into the fact that the series has an extremely limited view of what ‘good’ motherhood is.
the second issue is that the text needs to keep lily’s centrality to the mystery hidden for as long as possible, not least because it needs to obscure snape’s true loyalties - and the role lily played in triggering them - until the very end of the seven-book series. this is the reason why sirius and lupin only speak about her once (after harry sees snape’s worst memory - and, even then, they’re mostly talking about james) and why harry’s self-conception is rooted entirely in his father - or in characters like sirius who are stand-ins for james - until half-blood prince, when the narrative begins to suggest that his mother is much more important than harry has previously given her credit for.
[the best way to illustrate this is to note that harry doesn’t give a shit in order of the phoenix that snape calls his mother a mudblood. his primary concern is that his father was a bully and that sirius aided and abetted him - when he thinks about lily, his concern is only that she doesn’t seem to like james, and his worry that his father forced her into a relationship. he doesn’t raise the fact that snape called lily a mudblood with sirius and lupin, and he doesn’t mention it to anyone else. but he cares - viscerally - about the slur at the end of half-blood prince, once the narrative is explicitly trying to convince the reader that snape is an unambiguous villain.]
these narrative necessities are a heavy burden for the canonical lily - and so i think she deserves some grace when it comes to how we analyse her behaviour in the snapshots of her as a real person we get in canon.
because of course she’s not perfect. why should she be? teenage girls are allowed to be less than flawless people - even towards their best friends.
[as an aside here, i think we have to be very careful - in our reading and our writing - not to replicate the contempt that jkr has for women who don’t fit her narrow view of ideal female behaviour. jkr loathes bitchy, girly, flighty, butch, rude, vapid, ugly women - just look at anything she’s ever said about pansy parkinson - and she tends to write her heroines - ginny and hermione chief among them - as that perfect not-like-other-girls storm of exactly pretty and clever and popular and brave enough to be worthy, but not so pretty as to be vain or clever as to be haughty or popular as to be slutty or brave as to be villainous. lily gets this treatment - and i think this drives the tendency of readers who dislike the way she behaves in canon to be hyper-critical of her characterisation. but the issue with this is that it’s also confining ‘good’ women to narrow boxes - while, all too often, allowing male characters a complexity their female counterparts are not permitted.]
which is to say: no, lily isn’t a good friend to snape. but he’s not a good friend to her either.
the issue that the two of them have is that they each relate to the other as though the other is the version of them that they’ve constructed in their head. they never take each other as they actually are.
it’s clear in canon that lily never moves beyond seeing snape as the child - devoted only to her - whose role was to teach her about the wonderful world of magic, and who acted primarily as a tool of her own self-actualisation. this is the reason why she can’t understand why snape is so concerned about fitting in at hogwarts - above all, why he wants to be friends with mulciber and avery - or why she never realises that he wants to be reassured of her affection for him versus the marauders, or why she doesn’t take what happens to him at the marauders’ hands seriously until she is made a part of it by james, or why she doesn’t understand snape’s relationship to his own social class and its role within slytherin. she simply doesn’t conceive of him as someone who exists for himself or who has a life of his own - he exists for her.
and snape thinks the same - he sees himself as the person who gave lily the wizarding world and, therefore, as the person who gets to dictate how she understands it. this is the reason why he can’t understand why she pushes back on his defence of mulciber’s use of dark magic (since he - in a very voldemort-ish move - clearly thinks that applying boundaries to what magic can and should be studied is gatekeeping), or why she doesn’t agree with him that the death eaters will help him, or why she’s upset when he’s rude to petunia, or why she leans into the performance of class expected from muggleborns (sucking up to slughorn, taking her pureblood husband’s name) in a time of increasing sectarian tension. she exists for him.
this assessment obviously makes them both sound incredibly cruel, but actually this is the way that childhood friendships often go. it’s very easy to see how the fact of being the only two magical children in cokeworth was validating for both snape and lily, and how this formed a tie between them which was very fierce but very brittle - which was never going to do anything other than shatter as they grew older, especially as they became aware of things like social structure, political affiliation, and sexual desire. it’s cruel of lily to laugh at snape’s poverty - absolutely - but it’s also the way that lots of teenagers who haven’t entirely grappled with their own relationship to society behave, and it’s also true that acting up in front of a boy you fancy is a time-honoured tradition which can also cause you to be quite cruel. lily isn’t nice by any means when snape is being attacked by james and sirius, but she doesn’t have to be. she just has to be human.
there are two final points which i think it’s worth being aware of:
the first is that snape evidently stands out as one of the few visibly working-class students in the castle [so much so that i have a meta in my drafts about whether or not hogwarts is a selective school] and the fact that he is obviously targeted for his poverty is cruel, and i understand why it makes many fans want to defend him - particularly given the fandom’s fondness for glorifying aristocracy and wealth.
but lily is also an other in wizarding society. i think it’s often not taken as seriously as it should be by snape fans just how terrified she must have been for her own safety, particularly from the later 1970s onwards, when all the evidence of canon is that voldemort is about to win. the wizarding world is set up to exclude her just as much as it is snape, and while we can and should be critical how her response to his poverty is unfair, we have to do the same for his outright refusal to acknowledge that she is subjected to discrimination on the basis of her blood status.
the second is that we don’t actually know if lily was a prefect - she was head girl, but james managed to become head boy without having been one. the person we do know was a prefect was remus lupin. if we’re criticising anyone for failing to intervene, it should be him.

🤍: Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think? (would love to hear your thoughts)
ask game
oh we knowwww what i'm about to say. we know i'm about to put on my snape hat right now. we know how i feel about severus, i'm a broken record at this point.
"we need more complex characte-" YOU CAN'T EVEN HANDLE SNAPE 😖😖
and like yes !! he's an ass. he bullies children, he's neville's boggart (though i do actually fw the idea that that's less snape, more figures of authority and not wanting to be inferior? wanting to prove his worth and make his parents proud but snape is a very strict teacher that makes him doubt that but i digress) like yes !! he's an ass but that's the POINT.
i love that he deflects and is still not perfect. it would have been boring for him to deflect and be perfect. the whole point of his character is to show that you can never truly tell what side someone is on just by how they act.
he's instrumental to the war, he risks his life every day by being a double agent, he plays his part so fucking well and i just love him. i stand by my cancelled wife she did all of it but i stand by her. and the theory that he hadn't killed anyone else? "what about mine?" what about HIS soul? what about HIS sould that is still yet to be changed if he kills albus? what about his soul that is still yet untarnished by the killing curse? what about HIS. the idea that dumbledore is his first kill is everything to me.
i've yapped about him so much but ugh. like ofc he joins them??? not to forgive him or anything but OF COURSE. he's abused by a muggle and his magical mum "does nothing" (she's abused too but he's a child ofc he thinks this way), he's told he belongs in slytherin when besides lily he's never had a sense of belonging before, and then he's fed this rhetoric that muggles infiltrate their society and ruin it and he's thinking of his mum standing by and UGH. ofc he does 😖
and a lot of his actions? like yes he's an ass but ong he's living a double life. and whilst i don't think that excuses anything, i can grant him a bit of understanding when it comes to how harsh he is. he's crafted this persona for years, he can't let it crack at hogwarts. he can't risk it. he has no reason to really now that lily's gone, the one person whose opinion he valued. he'd be a shite spy if he was nice to everyone then rocked up the DE meetings, he physically can't change whether that's because of a lack of motivation to or because of his role
he's an ass but he's not evil. he's the epitome of a morally grey character and i do not trust snaters with anything. free my man from the narrative. and also fanon regulus is just snape in a pretty package SORRYYYY
which actually,,, makes sense. because we see the bad things snape does but we don't see the bad things regulus does. so it makes sense that we're more willing to delve into regulus and grant him forgiveness but 😖 my mans 😖

Saw a snater say that he deserved to be bullied and that “someone had to” and I just want to voice my opinion idk 😭
First, I should just say I love snape he’s probably my second fav character, and I think he’s very interesting. HOWEVER. No matter what he’s been through, you can’t deny he is not rly a good person. In his entire adult life he’s, yes, miserable, but also just..not great. But this isn’t a post debating on his morals or whatever. My main point is that he didn’t deserve it, at least in the beginning. I’m not anti maruaders, but how they treated him was awful. And what did they have on him? What had he done wrong? He was poor and unnattractive. And that just because they can. That’s basically it in the beginning. He didn’t deserve that at all. The whole jinx incident was literally assault and a total violation. And no matter how much Severus had been being nosy, sending him to get killed by a werewolf is completely inexcusable. Idk, maybe as he starts to get more into the dark arts and bigotry he does. But for the first few years of Hogwarts, saying he deserved it, even if you don’t like him, is just stupid 🤷‍♀️
AND another thing I just realized. Correct me if I’m wrong I’m not British, but don’t “pants” in the UK mean underwear? So when James said “who wants to see me take off Snivelly’s pants?” He means “who wants to see me take off Snivelly’s underwear?” The memory cuts off after james puts the dangling curse back on snape and says that. So it’s very likely, not canon, by very likely that Severus was stripped further than his pants (or, well, trousers to be more specific in this case) Just like..
What the fuck?? That’s insane
No matter how stuck up, ugly, snarky, or weird Severus might’ve been as a 15 YEAR OLD, nobody deserves sexual assault and humiliation of that kind
And this was after the whole werewolf attempted murder thing I think? So saying that James saved him because he felt guilty and wanted to save him feels less probable now, as he’s apathetic enough afterwards to pull a horrible stunt like this. Anyway, just a thought. But seriously, hating/disliking snape is valid. But you shouldn’t deny he didn’t deserve the things that happened to him as a teenager

as a bullying victim of 10+ years, the marauders fandom never fails to hit the spot when they insult snape.
like when they call severus 'snivellus'? reminds me of how my bullies would call me by a mean name in elementary to middle school. like when they say severus is a 'greasy-haired git'? reminds me of how my bullies would insult my fizzy, wavy asian hair.
and don't even get me started on how they NEVER have the guts to insult severus or us snovers on their own! they come in packs! one time i remember on tiktok, i remember this one marauders stan tagging the entire world so that they could personally bully this one snover! it's insane! reminds me of how my main bully never has the guts to bully me one on one, they always come with a whole pack behind her!
and not to mention how many times i've gotten racist comments and remarks from marauders fan for being a snover like hello??? aren't they the one who hates severus for being a 'racist blood supremacist'??? why am i getting called slurs and being made fun of for being asian??? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!
Same same same same same
That's why I always say snaters are hypocritical. You can't hate a fictional character for being a bully and then bully people in real life, or demonize physical traits of the character that people in real life have. They're dense
I was bullied in 5th grade and it was horrible. Name calling, making fun of my appearance, making shit up about me, they even started getting physical but I beat one of their asses so that stopped...it was three of them. (I can't even imagine 10+ years of that shit, I'm so sorry)
And don't get me started on the racist snaters 💀 "Severus is racist" *Starts being actually racist*
It's bad on here, but tiktok is so much worse. They are so openly racist it's crazy. I remember when I first argued with someone on tiktok about Sev and the mudblood thing, they were like "How would you like it if I called you the n word? You'd call me racist" They STFU when I asked if they were a halfblood or pureblood in context of race. Weren't ready for that conversation 😆🙏🏽
They paint Severus to have the traits they themselves have...
It's called projection...self hatred...
Pitiful.

So, apparently vague posting in every Snape tag possible because you got offended by a comment with one... *checks notes* explicit word is a thing now? Alright, I can do that too, just this once, because I don't like cluttering the Snape tag with bullshit content.
I'll say it again, and I don't care how many times, the Lily hate boner from Snape fans is disturbing.
I'm the first person to talk about how Lily failed in many aspects in her friendship with Snape, but damn. If we can stan a guy who joined a hate cult lead by a genocidal mass murderer and who spent around 15 years bullying children, maybe we can understand how a teenage girl may lack self-awareness and act petty.
Anyway, I'm not saying anyone has to like Lily, but as was the point in my original comment, tag your anti-Lily posts. And yes, a lot of people also do tag their anti-Marauders content, exactly so that they don't do like the Snaters that we constantly tell off who come on the Snape tags to bash him.
(To @sevilynne, who thought I wouldn't see their post: If you've got something to say to me, then say it directly to me, and don't post about it in four different Snape tags after you blocked me.
Also, please, you're 19. You tried to tell me to "know my place" because you think I'm 15 for some reason, even though I've been a Harry Potter fan for longer than you've been alive. Calm the fuck down with the theatrics.)

the way jkr turned a whole 180 in the way she presented james’ character just to make snape a victim pissed me off so bad. no one cares about your fascist fav woman😭
This is a post I found because for some reason Harry Potter is trending. My first thought was "but he always has been a bully"
And as much as I love Snape he was not shown as a victim. The man bullied kids and everyone thought he was the bad guy just moments before his death.
And as much as I hate JKR I don't think she did 180? Snape was a victim mam James DID bully Snape.
And how is Snape fascist did I miss a chapter in history or the books?
Snaters read some other version of the books from outer space istg
The JKR and Elon situation is making the HP tag trendy, I also noticed it was lately so yeah-
But well, to be honest why are snaters all saying that Severus is JKR's fav? Like he was made out of the teacher she hated the most-
The thing with James is that we were told he was a troublemaker and saved Severus, which are half-truths. Some people couldn't handle the full truth and the idea that the bully Snape has been a bullied boy in his childhood, people can't handle the fact that the character they hate the most has had bad childhood shaping them in what they are now.
Snaters are a wild and weird community of people without empathy and/or reading comprehension which is what it takes to understand Snape

Well, after reading Snater arguments on Reddit, there’s something I’d like to comment on. I mean, I’m a lawyer, and I’m a lawyer who advocates for social reintegration, not punishment. So when I think about morally questionable characters, I always think like a lawyer. It’s something I can’t avoid because I spent years memorizing laws, and that fries your brain, so you’re just going to have to bear with me here.
The point is, I don’t give a damn that Snape hung out with the bad guys. I don’t care that he followed Voldemort because, from a legal standpoint, Severus more than paid his debt to the community. First of all, there’s no evidence that Severus killed anyone before Dumbledore asked him to perform a rather shady kind of euthanasia. That means his involvement with the Death Eaters was essentially collaboration with a criminal group. If we take into account that he later switched sides and became cooperative with the “good guys,” then in any trial, that would already significantly reduce his sentence, which, considering that he didn’t commit murder, wasn’t involved in any attempted homicides, and didn’t directly collaborate in major crimes, would already be pretty short.
But if we also consider that after switching sides, he worked as a double agent, then we can count his service as a kind of probation with community service. In other words: serving a sentence. For me, Severus Snape served both time and punishment for the actions he committed. A sentence that was much longer and harsher than his crimes warranted. So I don’t give a damn what he did before because he’s already paid his debt to society, and any democratic legal system would see it that way. And I don’t believe in life sentences or the death penalty because they’re useless, capitalist punishments, so whatever. The point is that Severus paid. He paid with his life, both metaphorically and literally, because from the moment he joined Dumbledore, he had no life of his own. He had no future. His entire world became focused on doing whatever it took to pay his debt to society. A debt that, in the end, led to his death. So, yeah, he might seem like an asshole and a bad person to you, just like I see plenty of assholes and bad people who come into my office, but the reality is, if they serve their sentence, they settle their debt. And Severus paid more than he owed. Honestly, I wish there were lawyers and therapists in the wizarding world—maybe that’s why things are such a mess there, lol.

Snape Asks
Do you have a snOTP? What is it?
Sure, Snape x [First name] (specifically my OC) haha
2. What do you think is Snape's favourite colour and why?
Black? Like...obviously. You think he'd wear so much of it if he didn't genuinely like it?
3. Which Disney character, according to you is most like Snape?
Scar. I don't think there's another answer.
4. Do you think Snape remained a virgin?
I hate this question. Absolutely NOT. The dude was guilty about his best friend's death, it doesn't mean he never had sex. The only way he would have is if he were fully asexual (which, to be fair, seems possible).
5. Do you think Snape ever loved anyone other than Lily, romantically or platonically?
Romantically, no. Platonically, I think he loved Dumbledore and Draco.
6. If Snape learnt another language, which would he choose?
Latin, doy.
7. Which staff member do you think gets along well with Snape?
Dumbledore. I don't think he and McGonagall were friends, despite the fluffy popular head canons. Mutual respect, sure, but not friendship. Otherwise, I don't see him hanging out with any other staff.
8. If you had to assign Snape to a house, which one would it be?
Slytherin. No question. Dude was immensely ambitious.
9. What are your personal headcanons on Snape's diet and favourite foods?
I think eating was a chore for him. He probably had one favorite meal at any given time and it was all he wanted to eat. It'd change monthly. Sometimes he'd have a bread-and-cheese month, sometimes he'd have an eggs-and-bacon month. Otherwise he'd forget to eat.
10. Do you think Snape's character has changed the way you think/feel about others?
Yeah, I mean I hate James Potter. That's more because of the Marauders stans though. What a toxic community.
11. Your favourite scenes with book/movie!Snape?
Literally every book Snape scene.
12. If you had to chose a Golden trio era student to be Snape's friend, who would it be and why?
Luna.
13. Do you think Alan Rickman contributed to your love for Snape?
Yeah, but I loved book Snape first.
14. What do you think is Snape's favourite potion to prepare?
Probably changes based on the month. Whatever's fascinating him at the moment. Something complicated and finnicky, definitely.
15. If Snape had any free time, how do you think he would spend it?
Reading, drinking wine, doing up his buttons, smoking.
16. Were you ever a Snater? How and when did you become a Snover?
God no. I have taste.
17. Do you think Snape was unhappy even after joining the DEs?
Yes, definitely. I don't think it ever gave him what he was looking for.
18. Your favourite physical feature of Snape?
Eyes.
19. According to you, what is Snape's biggest flaw?
Being a dick for absolutely no reason. Lack of chill.
20. Why do you love Snape so much?
He's powerful and brilliant and misunderstood. He's also a weird sexy feral emo boy. He's also a professor and like...sheesh.
21. What particular memory do you think Snape used to conjure his patronus?
Something with Lily obviously. Could be anything. The day they met, hanging out by the Black Lake, laughing in class. It probably changes.
22. Do you think Lily was a good friend to Severus?
Not really. Maybe when they were kids, but once she started hating his friends, there's a real sense that she thought she was too cool for him.
23. What do you think Snape wore under his robes?
Dude what? Trousers.
24. Do you think Snape ever self-harmed?
I don't think he'd see the point.
25. Is there any other character you love as much as Snape? Do you think they'll get along?
Yeah. And no, they absolutely would not get along.
26. What genre do you think Snape preferred to read?
Crime, thrillers, non-fiction, historical fiction, maybe some horror
27. Do you think Snape was close to his mother?
No. I think he was disappointed by her. But he loved her more than he loved his dad.
28. Do you think you'd like being taught by Snape?
Only if we were fucking. Otherwise, from what I've seen he seems like a pretty lazy and demanding teacher.
29. How do you headcanon Snape's bedroom would look like?
Queen bed with dark sheets, a few bookcases, a desk and reading chair.
30. If you could give young Snape any advice, what would it be?
You're better than your origins. James Potter sucks--rise above it. And don't listen to the fucking Death Eaters man, come on. Dark Arts aren't the only magical mysteries left.
31. Do you think Snape had any mental illnesses? Which ones and why?
Yeah, dude. If the guy wasn't depressed I will eat my fucking hat. He was probably anxious as hell too. Maybe on the spectrum.
32. If you could change Snape's middle name to be something other than Tobias what would you choose?
Do people have opinions on this?
33. Top 3 songs you think will show up in Snape's most played?
There Is a Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths
The Killing Moon - Echo & the Bunnymen
Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
34. Do you have any Snape NOTPs?
I hate Snape x any of the Potters. Lily, James and Harry need to back off. Haven't they put him through enough?
35. Snapey BROTPs?
No, I want my man lonely and annoyed.
36. Did Snape get sick often? Your headcanons for when he was sick?
I don't think OFTEN. He'd definitely refuse to go to the hospital wing and brew his own cures. Probably worked when he was sick too. Stubborn ass.
37. Snape didn't pay attention to his physical appearance, but if you had to choose a part he would take care of, which would it be?
I disagree, I think the dude knew how to dress. I also think he cleaned his nails.
38. Which type of weather does Snape prefer?
Gray and cool.
39. How do you think Snape spent his early childhood days?
Hiding from his dad, finding joy where he could.
40. Other than Lily, who do you think impacted Snape's life the most?
Dumbledore. I think Narcissa and Lucius did too. Probably some of his DE friends--Mulciber springs to mind.
41. Is there a side to Snape that he hasn't let anyone see? What do you headcanon this "secret personality" to be like?
I don't think he laughs in public often. I think you'd have to be really close to see that.
42. Do you think Snape cried often?
As a kid and teenager, yes. I think at some point those tears dried up though.
43. What's your favourite headcanon about Snape?
He's actually a good professor and not as ugly as Harry seems to think.
44. Is there a movie/song/book that reminds you of Snape?
Tons of songs remind me of him. Sunburn by Muse will forever be the Broken Silence anthem.
45. What mode of magical travel would suit Snape the best?
God, anything but a fucking broom.
46. Your opinion on Snape's sexuality?
Realistically, somewhere on the demi spectrum. Possibly ace. In my head he's like a dom, bi-curious brat tamer though.
47. Which of the Marauders do you think Snape could have gotten along with?
If there was ever even a SHOT it would have been Lupin. The least awful of them.
48. How many points do you think Snape would've awarded during his career?
Sounds like he awarded a lot to Slytherins. Uncountable.
49. Did you feel Snape was the "good guy" even before the reveal?
Yep. I never lost faith.
50. Do you prefer tall!Snape or short!Snape?
Tall.
51. Had Snape lived, would he continue teaching at Hogwarts?
ARE YOU JOKING? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT.

Note
your last post. y'know i've always found it insane people call sev's love for lily obsessive and his entire narrative regarding her as something foul or sick. like personally? i always hated it's put such emphasis on his feelings being romantic and how if his feelings weren't ""romantic"", he wouldn't have done All he did for harry and the order in the end. i find it really narrow-minded from r*wling to basically declare feelings can only be of romantic nature to motivate grand changes or life commitment and devotion. i didn't entirely hate love for a departed friend to change the course of his life - i'm familiar with feeling devout to someone you don't have contact with anymore, despite the years, despite everything - but the way people have managed to twist his motives and turned them into pettiness, jealousy, obsession, childishness even? like maybe Maybe his childhood friend's husband harassed him and humiliated him daily for seven years?????? maybe it doesn't have to do with him getting with lily but how sev only dealt with asshole james and not sweet uwu Good boyfriend james uwu!!1 so if he could never stop hating james, i really understand it, he didn't have to forgive the man lol. now to lily again, how, How could he be obsessive if obsessive behavior is akin to harassment, stalking, and he never ever bothered her again after they ended their friendship. How was he obsessive???? he left her be and Then begged for her protection, to both his lord and dumbledore. so really, what in his behavior is obsessive??? in what form???? wouldn't everything he did for her be what we all would do for a friend? and that friend's child???
It's wild now that i think about it because when I first read the book, I never once considered that Severus' love for Lily was romantic.
I have read many arguments made by Snaters, and here are the things they always list out to prove Severus' obsession :
1 - He stalked Lily when he was... nine
This is probably one of the stupidest 'proof' these people could ever provided. When I first joined the snapedom, I genuinely thought these haters were talking about teenage!Severus and was so confused cuz I don't remember such a thing. But then they started pulling passages from Snape and Lily's childhood memory when they first became friends. The fact that they called a 9 YEARS OLD creepy says a lot about them.
2 - He wanted to control who's Lily's friends with
I honestly couldn't understand this argument. It makes me wonder if these people have ever had a close friend before. I've been bullied when I was in high school, and I would never let my best friends disrespect me by getting close to those who hurt me. It's called friends code.
3 - If Harry was a girl, he would've done some creepy stuff to him
??? This is the most absurd one cuz it's not even a proof, it's a wild assumption. A creepy one at that. I was shocked to see many people agree with this, like bffr now... If you want to hate on my man, at least do it correctly. Not by spreading some creepy headcanons to make him looks worse.
4 - His Patronus is the exact copy of Lily's
Probably the same people who accused Nymphadora of rap!ng Remus. To them, complimenting someone's patronus = soulmate and mirroring someone's patronus = obsession. Does that means Harry was obsessed with his father since they both have a stag as their Patronus 🤯
5 - He only wanted to save Lily so that he could pursue a romantic relationship with her.
Yet another weird assumption made by them. As far as I remember, Severus respected Lily's wish and left her alone after their fifth year. I'm not sure how they got the idea that Severus would try to pursue Lily if he were to succeed in saving her from Voldemort. He probably would have continued to keep his distance from her as usual and protect her from afar.
It's crazy how these people are trying so hard bring Severus' down that they're willing to expose their distorted thinking to the public. They're risking everything just to hate on a fictional character.
