I have to admit I'm surprised and also a little hurt to receive an ask like this from you. We were mutuals (I see it's not the case anymore) and I thought we'd had a few pretty nice interactions. I also really admire your artistic talent and skill.

I do wonder what you're trying to achieve by sending me this rude ask - especially now, over a month after the event you must be referring to.

For the record, I've never defended incest in my entire life. I'm not into that stuff and personally find it quite repulsive. I have defended and, if needed, will continue to defend my living, breathing, and feeling friend who was being bullied for something so trivial and inconsequential as if he had committed some terrible crime. Get real. Drawings are just drawings. Now, I do acknowledge that some people have been triggered by them, and my heart goes out to them as they must have been severely traumatized. However, no artist is responsible for other people's triggers or struggles in that way - that should be managed by each individual. The issue was blown way out of proportion, and some people's behavior towards my friend was nothing short of "fucking disgusting", to borrow your wording.

I'm also generally a fan of freedom of expression in art. Even if I had the power to make my friend stop drawing what he draws, I wouldn't use it - I wouldn't want to take that freedom away from him. I was the one person who actually took the time to talk to him about this, ask him questions, and get his perspective despite our differences. Turns out we largely think and feel the same, what do you know? So, keeping an open mind is a very helpful skill, I can 100% recommend cultivating it.

I wish everyone would just mind their own business and let every member of the fandom enjoy their thing in peace while sticking to the golden rule of the internet: curate your own experience. It's what's always worked best for me as someone who dislikes a whole lot of fan content👍

things I wish I could relive for the first time again:

that magical window where you finish a new piece of media, having watched/read it all by yourself with no fandom contact whatsoever, and you are just so happy about it, and full of interesting theories and takeaways, and just in love with it as a gorgeous piece of art.

because I swear to god as soon as you join the fandom for anything, you're bombarded with how you're supposed to view characters and their arcs, how you're supposed to morally and ethically judge the plot and the ways it apparently failed to present the right message, and if you don't you'll either be shunned for not sharing the popular headcanons or you'll be harassed for not criticizing the source material enough.

like how is it that the fans of a piece of media are also the ones being the most negative about it? If I like a show or a movie or a book, well, I liked it. That's kind of the point. I'm actually not here to tear it apart and talk about how it didn't live up to standards other people had! I enjoyed it for what it was, and forcing myself to find negative things to say about it doesn't actually bring me more enjoyment of it or reap any benefit to me. Fandom's a double-edged sword; you want to join a community to share your love for a piece of art, and the price you pay for a modicum of joy is a mountain of negativity. that's one main reason that I never engage with fandom until I'm completely done with a show, because if I was plugged into all of that commentary and discourse during the process, I'd be completely colored by how I'm expected to interpret everything this piece of art is presenting to me without being able to even form my own opinions.

((I am so glad you brought this up! Because this brings up the very interesting question of how informed one must be to create fan work of a media. That message saying I haven't watched, nor plan to watch it, serves as a warning. I am not perfect, I do not know everything about Yhs or TS. However, I've watched many many analysis videos, read fan works, watched fan videos, and things of that type. Because quite honestly, I dont want to support Sam Gladiator by giving him ad revenue or more views. I am content with watching other people's telling of the story, and some of Grian's other series like HC, Life series, that one cannibal video, and others.

So how informed must one be to make fan work of somthing? In a modern sense, is one "allowed" to create art of a hermit, even if they havnt watched off of their hermitcraft seasons?

Or in a more classical sense, is someone who gets all their info from translations of old Greek writings not "allowed" to create art of these tales and gods because they didn't read the original Latin or Greek?

If I am genuinely making someone upset, please block me. Don't let yourself get all angry over someone role-playing online. I am not online trying to make people upset.

And if theres somthing I state that's just blatantly wrong, or little things I can change, please let me know! I'm fluid with how I role-play, I am willing to change and adapt!
