- I honestly don't remember, I do know it was when i was actively in the furry community

2019 Creator Reflection

Pick a favorite piece for each month to celebrate the year! Reflection under the cut.

January: i dont remember writing another poem this year after this one, and i dont think i could necessarily top it: i think this is one of the better ones i’ve written. it’s tldr abt elliot n his anxiety abt proposing, and why he won’t do it, and i feel that its focus and imagery is tight even tho there’s a few trips in rhythm, which i think help convey his panic

February: i’ve distanced myself from this one a lot, but i think it’s still p strong. nol’s rant is a bit preachy, tho it sources from smth he’s thought abt a lot and which is a thorn in several of his conflicts: self-image, reputation, class, n identity. the undercurrent is also censorship within vulgarity and truth, which is a mega issue in war-related literature

March: honestly one of my fav things. i love writing brucemont, and i love nol’s relationship w the dead, and w elliot, and w bruce. it was difficult as usual to get the fight scene done, and pronouns are a special hell, but im happy w how it turned out.

April: i liked the language in this one. alliteration kept coming to me, which was as annoying as it was a help bc it can easily overload a sentence, but it felt snappy to write even w the long sentences. we also stan the vigil, as always

May (1 / 2): the first was a really excellent exercise, all things considered, and finding a way to combine each route n hone in on each questline helped me remember some plotting basics. thank u wyda! / this one was one of my first sets w separate characters in gpose, rather than taking separate pics and combining. ofc the flashback pics were heavily made up, but the pics w nol n eli were all shot w timing, which was a lot easier than expected

June: this one took a long time, but it’s fun to do frame-by-frame animation n add grime, so that’s what i did. i liked organizing the colors on nol n dav, and the lighting turned out really well. it tells a lot abt them, too

July: ironically, altho this was one of the most complicated puppeting jobs ive done, it went rly smoothly by how excited i was abt it. i blame absolutely everything on this shitpost

August: ah yes. my Novel. i honestly love this thing to death, and im astounded by how quickly i wrote it and how finely done it is. def my achievement of the year, sans college things. its the first project i’ve begun from page one and will finish in order. will!! plz look forward to it!!

September: happy ffxivwrite! faith crisis or not (elliot’s always having one of  those) i wrote fluff. i havent done that in like. 3 years. at least. not to this degree. one day ill write all the stuff that’s in exposition!!!

October: this was a slow month bc i was working on everything i’ve posted for november n have yet to complete, but i did hit 80 gnb and got nol his greatcoat!

November (1 / 2 / 3): a big month! the first big segment of wedding au, a nol thing for armistice day, and an eli edit i ended up falling in love with. i think i bled keeping up the pacing in wedding au, but im super glad w how it turned out. the points of intensity work and im grateful for it. then, i wanted to keep the tradition of confronting some military things for 11/11, and tho i didnt hit the date, i finished it. i’ll never feel like it’s “enough” to cover a topic that deserves a book, but for 1k it’s a entry.

December: another slower month bc of family n trips, but i did manage to write--holy shit--smth fluffy. i don’t usually use the ouroboros technique in my writing, but it felt extremely appropriate here w the cycle of death n life in the story.

overall: this year was stupid, and also really good. i finished my thesis, graduated magna cum laude w english honors, joined phi beta kappa, got working meds, made friends, went to ny twice, read more books than i have in so so long, and sorta learned how to drive. no responses to internships, and no response from potential job yet, but i know 2020 will be the year i get to work and im excited to get started. also first au!!! im gonna do it!!!!

first: teams were listed by division, eliminating the lowest ranking teams until  24 teams were left, next was to pick a tribute from each team. 

rules: 

a player on IR is not put into the reaping

names are collected in alphabetical order

there must be a member of the team from each position entered

in a case where there are still too many players once one goalie has filled the final spot, those players go onto a list to be entered in another team’s reaping, shall that player win, they boot the entire team out of the run for the stanley cup 2.0 and instead increase their own team’s odds (its like katniss entering her names more times for oil ig,,,, just fuckin,,,, too many players ok)

once all teams are finished, the winners from these rounds will be entered into the QUARTER QUELL (i just realized this as a type this wowie thats cool,,, THG ALLSTARS) and upon the finale of this game will we come up with the ultimate nhl’r and winner of the new stanley cup

Why did I chose my URL: I knew that if it wasn’t in Quenya I’d eventually lose interest in whatever the url did end up being. But Tolkien is forever. So I looked to make a compound word that I thought was pretty; I combined “mornië,” which means “darkness,” and “yavië,” which means “autumn,” to make a word meaning “darkness of autumn,” and I bastardized it a bit to make it sound nice as a word.  It probably wouldn’t make much sense if I were actually speaking Quenya, but, meh.

Nov 13-15

Nov 13- Hoi An- today we moved to a hostel, called Tribee Kinh. Decent rooms, really fun atmosphere, awesome people. We didn’t do much in the morning as we were pretty burnt... around noon we checked out of lido homestay, left our bags and went to the beach (in the shade) for a few hours waiting to be able to check in to our new place. Took a cab there then went and found some BANH MI yesssss fav. Best we had so far. Phi Banh Mi it was called. Yum then we took a nap.... heh. This hostel was pretty cool. It was filled with new daily events we could partake in. Monday happened to be free street food tour which we had wanted to do for a while. We met some really cool people and tried some really different but good food! Then it was all you can drink beer night. Hung out with our new friends, drank lots, played games and then went to some bars in ancient town. I heard I ate two Banh Mi sammys at the same time that night. Nov 14- Hoi An- woke up for some reason, (noisiest hostel room in the world) and got some free breaky (yum) met our friends in the lobby and went on a little tour in ancient town of the temples and old houses. Pretty cool. Had some Banh Mi for lunch (not great!!!) then headed back. They had to leave and we took a nap (surprise). We had found this little restaurant on tripadvisor so we took a bit of s walk to get there. About 35 min in a different part of town. Didn’t disappoint. The owner was the sweetest young woman .... amazing Vietnamese food. Yum. We took a cab back then called it an early night (or tried to) as we had to wake up at 630am for our motor bike ride to Hue! Didn’t sleep a wink. Party animals screaming. Weird ass noises all hours of the night. :/ Nov 15- woke up, or just got up, don’t even know if i slept. Took a cab to our previous homestay, and our bikes were waiting for us. Hadn’t started raining yet so my hopes were up for a decent day... ya right. Had a bit of a key issue with a bike so waited for a new one and off we went. Our luggage was picked up by buss and brought to hue for us so that was nice. Stopped for gas on way out and boom rain. Damn. 30 min in we stopped at marble mountain to go caving which was really awesome. Then hit the road again. We had about 4 planned stops but since it just monsooned the whole time we didn’t see any of the sights.... bummer. The hai van pass was so incredibly amazing. Wish I got pictures. It was breathtaking up in the clouds, even in the pouring rain. Swerving around a mountain. We stopped a couple times for warm coffees and to try and get warm but that didn’t work. Drenched to the bone from start to finish. Even had to drive through some busy cities on our way, probably scared the shit out of ty. Eventually we made it, almost 8 hours later, to our new hostel. Bags were still an hour away but I ripped my clothes off anyways. Met some bunkmates, showered, had a free beer and some pizza, and I am currently laying in my bunk, with obvious tummy pains (cheeeeeeeeese) and exhausted from our long, arduous trip.
