Our local bank had a program for kid's bank accounts (something something fostering financial literacy) that our parents enrolled us in so we could occasionally go, like, deposit a couple dollars saved from our allowance and feel good about it. It didn't expire, just changed to a normal account, so every time I go in to that bank I hand the teller my laminated Penny Pioneer Card with a big yellow happy face in the place of an ID photo and a ten year old's signature.

i grew up in a small rural town where there was one dentist, which i went to from around age 5 whenever my parents had the right insurance/money/time to get me there. anyway when i'm like 20 or so i started having minor issues with my wisdom teeth coming in, but not so severe that this place can't extract them.

so i go in for that and i'm sitting there in the chair and the assistant comes in looking at some paperwork and says "so you've been coming here for a while right?" and i am like "oh yeah since i was a little kid" and she replies "yeah, i thought so, there's one note on your file and it's 'patient likes dinosaurs and bugs'"

BTW if you answered "yes" to this, one of my friends told me about a setting called "absolute volume" so look that up and see if it helps.

On Android devices, it tries to sync up your phone's volume controls with the Bluetooth device's volume controls. However, especially for less-sophisticated devices, this can fail and among other things cause chronically high volume. Check for the setting; you might have to enable "developer options" first or the like, which can be intimidating, but you don't need to mess with anything except the absolute volume setting.

I still have this problem with plugin headphones, but at least bluetooth ones are more comfortable for me now.

Another thing about this cat is that most puzzle feeders don't work on her. Puzzle feeders for cats often rely on whisker sensitivity making it unpleasant to get into food openings. However when we made one she figured out that she could just mash her face into it until she reached the food. So that's what she did.

One of the useful things to know about Animals is that if they're desperately trying to get at a thing that you don't want them getting at, often times they really do just want to know what's got your attention, and if you show it to them in a controlled manner so they can look and sniff a bit, they'll go "ah ok no thanks" and leave you alone. However this does not work with my parents' cat because she WILL try to eat your applesauce.

Quick drawing of Ki’ushapo's horse from The Navigator's Children. Kind of inspired by Donato Giancola's take on the sithi horse tack for the Grim Oak Press editions of memory sorrow and thorn, but I also did my own stuff.

The horse is inspired by the american saddlebred and akhal-teke breeds! I did it straight from memory so the anatomy might be a little wonky :)

When I was in high school I started tracking my reading because a college app asked "how many books have you read this year." I'm nothing if not thorough, so I went through the local library and recorded everything I could remember reading onto my account.

Hence, every time I idly examine the statistics it gives me, I am forced to remember that I've read 69 Mercedes Lackey books. That's so many books! What dark secrets into my high school psyche does this reveal.
