My parents were very mulish about getting a doggo. Nope. Never. Not in a MILLLiON years, champ, now go do your quadratic formulas. However, as I started developing generalized anxiety and life became turbulent, that’s when my bud came into the picture. A little floofy sausage of floof. And man oh man, I can’t picture life without him anymore <3 <3 (My parents have also been transformed into mushy dog lovers. Conflict resolved!)

Colt the bolty bolt is my bestest friend in the world, always in either one of two places: sunbathing on the carpet or plopped RIGHT ON MY DARN CHEST (bud you weigh 55lbs my rib cage 😭😭). He watches the car drive away every morning and greets us with a toy in his mouth every time we leave the house. He WILL steal your dinner if you stop to admire your fingernails for one millisecond, and he WILL steal your bed. It’s HIS bed now. Get off. Now.

Seriously. Move it.

He’s really the sweetest thing in the world- goes absolutely Cujo on a leash sometimes (bicycles FREAK the poor guy out)- but he will follow you around like white on rice to the end of the planet. Too bad he gets distracted by leaves 6 steps away from the door <3

i do think there is a degree to which certain kinds of Instagram activists have convinced themselves that traumatising themselves in solidarity is a useful form of activism. "I'm having nightmares and crying so much I want to be sick because of all these videos of dying children but I can't look away while people are getting hurt" I mean don't you think you'd be able to help more if you weren't having nightmares and crying all the time?? don't you think this is a one-way trip to burnout? don't you think maybe increasing the amount of trauma going around is counterproductive? I dunno bro there's something to be said for bearing witness but there comes a point where you gotta look hard at yourself and go "am I helping, or am I just making myself suffer so I don't feel guilty for not suffering while somebody else is experiencing bad shit"
