25.09.2023 | Filling in the gaps
I'm on a bit of a mission to fill in every last bit of space in the polyglot journal I started in 2019. Some pages I left intentionally blank so that my future (i.e. present) self could weigh in on whatever needs weighing in on, tbh. Lessons I've learnt, glaringly obvious mistakes (taking on too much, wacky timelines, delusional goal setting, usw.), and general commentary.
Right now I'm only focusing on filling in the gaps for that decade month of a year, i.e. May to August, 2020.
Wish me luck!

kinda nervous to do leg day at the actual gym ngl, like doing upper body at the gym rather than at home for the other day for the first time (!!) was a little intimidating but overall fine... but lower body is just so much messier

there is a subset of tumblr liberals that are always making posts like “i hate communism >:( i hope the commies die“ positioning this as some kind of brilliant insightful take only they thought up with their genius brain and they are soso unique and oppressed for. when they are from a former socialist country i can understand (still cringe when they say everyone who is a communist these days is a westerner. cmon we both know you know that’s untrue). but when they and their family are from the west and they act like they’re oppressed for being anticommunist it’s just deeply cringe.

02.10.2023 | Longing and poetic realisation
Finished translating Kaiserin Sisi's poem Sehnsucht and writing my translator's notes which are likely too long but hopefully appropriately informative
The second of six (pending) poetic translations for my polyglot portfolio is now complete, and I couldn't be happier. 😊 One part of this project has been to read poetry more often, another part to be consumed by the poem and the poet's mind. It's taken an interesting turn into the poetic experiments of avid poetry readers of history, especially those who were not poets by trade, but rather of a poetic disposition, such as Sisi (Empress Elisabeth of Austria), whose deep reading of Heinrich Heine led to the poetry collection (secretly written at the time) in which this poem appears.
For anyone who wants to read the translator's notes along with the poem ♡
I would love to hear any feedback you may have on the poem, besonders falls ihr Deutsch und Englisch könnt, but also if you are simply reading the translation into English.

I’m having so much fun right now because this is obviously a new sideblog but the thing is, my main blog used to be a Hetalia blog from like 2012-2014 and then I unfollowed mostly everybody. But now that I’m back into it, both the fandom and my tastes have changed . So it’s like a little scavenger hunt right now to rebuild from scratch, trying to find Hetalia blogs that like it in the very particular way that I do…..

they have a point though. you wouldn't need everyone to accommodate you if you just lost weight, but you're too lazy to stick to a healthy diet and exercise. it's that simple. I'd like to see you back up your claims, but you have no proof. you have got to stop lying to yourselves and face the facts
Must I go through this again? Fine. FINE. You guys are working my nerves today. You want to talk about facing the facts? Let's face the fucking facts.
In 2022, the US market cap of the weight loss industry was $75 billion [1, 3]. In 2021, the global market cap of the weight loss industry was estimated at $224.27 billion [2].
In 2020, the market shrunk by about 25%, but rebounded and then some since then [1, 3] By 2030, the global weight loss industry is expected to be valued at $405.4 billion [2]. If diets really worked, this industry would fall overnight.

Over 50 years of research conclusively demonstrates that virtually everyone who intentionally loses weight by manipulating their eating and exercise habits will regain the weight they lost within 3-5 years. And 75% will actually regain more weight than they lost [4].

The annual odds of a fat person attaining a so-called “normal” weight and maintaining that for 5 years is approximately 1 in 1000 [5].

Doctors became so desperate that they resorted to amputating parts of the digestive tract (bariatric surgery) in the hopes that it might finally result in long-term weight-loss. Except that doesn’t work either. [6] And it turns out it causes death [7],  addiction [8], malnutrition [9], and suicide [7].

Fatness was associated with only 1/3 the associated deaths that previous research estimated and being “overweight” conferred no increased risk at all, and may even be a protective factor against all-causes mortality relative to lower weight categories [19].

Studies have observed that about 30% of so-called “normal weight” people are “unhealthy” whereas about 50% of so-called “overweight” people are “healthy”. Thus, using the BMI as an indicator of health results in the misclassification of some 75 million people in the United States alone [20].

While epidemiologists use BMI to calculate national obesity rates (nearly 35% for adults and 18% for kids), the distinctions can be arbitrary. In 1998, the National Institutes of Health lowered the overweight threshold from 27.8 to 25—branding roughly 29 million Americans as fat overnight—to match international guidelines. But critics noted that those guidelines were drafted in part by the International Obesity Task Force, whose two principal funders were companies making weight loss drugs [21].

Book 1 of my series, Starbourne, is FREE!! For the other books please donate $6 per book to one of the aforementioned links. I'm planning on making this a series of 9, but currently working on book 2.
Doing one of those note things for motivation (or notivation because notes lol)
25 notes - I do the dishes and clean out the litter box (done, for now... But these are Sisyphean tasks)
50 notes - I clean up around the house (I did a little cleanup, might do more later)
100 notes - I do a little work on my book (it still needs editing before I can publish it and write the sequel, but I'll do some work on that when my PC stops crashing)
250 notes - I start working on book 2 (or work harder on editing book 1 if it still needs it)
500 notes - I participate in artfight (in the first July after it reaches this threshold. I doubt it'll get there by this month.)
1k notes - I start working on a video game in the Starbourne multiverse. A small one, like Undertale is to Deltarune. I'm calling it Saturn Robe which is an anagram for Starbourne, like Undertale is for Deltarune.
2.5k notes - I start working on my dream game, Starbourne. The one that's the reason I started writing in the first place. (If the small game isn't finished I work harder on that)
5k notes - I dedicate my time to taking care of myself/my partner/my family, and working on my dream game.
10k notes - I become a god in the Tumblrverse (this will not happen)
If you want to know more about Starbourne, check out my other blog @phiction-of-grandeur and my community for more details. My askbox is always open if you want to ask me something.
Here's the first book now:
