- They didn't bother you or anything, they were just never right and always felt out of place

- But along with that realization came the fear of how the people around you would react

- There wasn't a single doubt in your mind that your friends and boyfriend would support you but there was still this one annoying little fragment of doubt haunting you

- Your mind was flooded with 'what if's but never enough to cloud or shadow your happiness which came as a result of finally truly finding yourself

- The first person you wanted to come out to was the person who’s been your biggest support since you two met: your boyfriend Corpse

- Never had you been so sweaty and shaky on the drive to his apartment

- Once again, you knew he’d be nothing but supportive and loving but we humans just have a way of always discouraging ourselves

Shisui 

~One of my previous headcanons for Shisui is that in his “darker” moments, specifically jealousy, he might become harsher on his darling and lash out or something, which is perfectly applicable in this situation. 

~Shisui is always watching you. Even when he’s not there, he knows what you’re up to and what’s going on around you because he always keeps an eye on you through one of summonings or illusionist birds. So, he knows about this situation as it happens. 

~Despite how much this situation infuriates him, he also sees this as a perfect opportunity to test you. He wants to see if you’re loyal to him like you’ve been saying you are in order to have him give you some more freedom. So, when you get home, Shisui is there waiting for you. 

~Shisui is a busy shinobi and since you’ve adapted to being his darling, he rewarded you with some freedom and let you leave the house on your own to do some grocery shopping. It was the biggest mistake on his part because the minute he does allow you to leave, is suddenly when someone else makes a move on you. This just showed to him he can’t let you leave out in public on your own because there’s too many scumbags, like the fella who flirted with you, out there. 

~So the moment you return and close the door of your shared abode, the air shifts. It feels heavier and more cunning. It doesn’t help that as you move to put the groceries in their rightful place, Shisui’s intense gaze is digging holes in your head. 

He will approach you casually, with a wide grin on his face. And if you weren’t averting your eyes from his and looked at his face, you would have seen that the corners of his lips were twitching, indicating how forced his grin was. 

He wanted to see if you would tell him yourself and be honest. He had really hoped you had told him the truth on your own. 

“How was your trip?” 

It was a simple and single question, not difficult to answer. However, the heaviness of the truth underlining his tone made it evident that he was aware of what had happened, and he was kind enough to genuinely hold the bait over your head to give you the chance to take it. Whether it was the fact that you had frozen in fear, or knowing that admitting the truth to Shisui would lead him to killing an innocent person who had only flirted with you, something held you back from answering honestly. And reflecting on this in hindsight, you were a fool, an absolute fool for wishfully thinking that Shisui would not know the truth, and you could get away with lying for the sake of protecting some stranger you didn’t even know and causing more trouble for yourself. 

“It was fine.” You responded simply. 

“Just fine? Nothing in particular that you want to inform me about?” 

“No.” 

Just like the simple single question that created the heavy atmosphere, your simple single word answer led to unwanted consequences. Before you could even blink, Shisui had you pinned against the kitchen’s wall, and he towered over you. His face was barely a few inches away and he was gripping your chin tightly between his thumb and index finger. 

“You shouldn’t have lied to me sweetheart because I know what happened. Now, not only am I going to kill that asshole who tried to steal you away from me but also teach you about what happened when you lie to me.” 

Obito 

The worst situation you, a poor victim of a possessive yandere, can find yourself in is someone blatantly ignoring the man next to you who is fiercely clutching your hand in his, and making a move on you in order to try and steal you away from him. 

As the other person is trying to woo you and attempt to touch you, you do your best to let them down nicely and hope they take the hint. Not for your sake, but theirs because with the way they’re going, it would not take long before the man beside you loses himself to his fury. 

Few seconds pass and that’s when you feel it -- the domineering and suffocating glare Obito gives, with his sharingan blazing bright and his tomes starting to spin so they form into his mangekyo sharingan.  A shiver of horror goes through you and before you can take your next breath, the body of the person in front of you is still standing, but there is no head. 

Petrified, you scream and tried to run away. Anticipating your reaction, Obito was instantly behind you, and wrapped his arms around you and brought you back forcefully so your back was against his chest. You could not help the tears that fell down the corner of your eyes from the horror of the gruesome killing before you. 

Obito gently patted your head and tenderly kissed the side of your forehead.

“Shh, you don’t need to cry and waste your tears on a scumbag like them. I know you’re a sensitive soul but they got what they deserved. You’re mine and I will kill anyone who tries to change that.”

I Shopped at YesStyle So You Don’t Have To: Lookbook no.10

Hi to anyone reading,

And welcome to what I guess is my first “review” post of sorts! Which is basically an excuse for me to rave about Korean street style and ask why the fuck Seoul fashion week isn’t more of a big deal!? Though I’ve pretty much quit fast fashion over the last few months and have been getting my clothes from Depop, I did want to talk about the website YesStyle which I ordered from back in May (jfc, the fact that May was almost 4 months ago now is terrifying) and how impressed I was with their service and the clothes I received. It should go without saying from the fact that investing in someone with about 200 followers on here wouldn’t be a very good financial decision, but this isn’t a sponsored post-I just think that if you’re gonna order from anywhere, YesStyle is a good shout for those of you who, like myself, are inspired by East Asian street style. I have to give credit to the incredible Katie O, otherwise known as StealTheSpotlight on Youtube and Instagram; she’s the medium through which I’ve been introduced to the world of “k-fashion” and YesStyle in the first place. Yes, my current knowledge of k-pop doesn’t extend far past fan tendencies to flood every popular tweet with fancams of their favourite singers and girl groups (I admire the dedication), but through Katie’s content and Instagram accounts like TokyoFashion on Instagram,  I have come to the conclusion that the stylists behind these groups and Asian designers in general are owed a huge amount of credit by Western trend forecasters. If you have any Instagram account or blog recommendations with similar content please let me know! For now, I’m gonna give a run down of the pieces I ordered (most of which are still available), prices and sizing, and also a bit focussing on ethical concerns and what I could find out about their practices from my research.

Yes, I’m in mourning over the fact that this time last year I was inter-railing, in case the ham-fisted insertion of touristy pics didn’t make that obvious. Remember when we could leave the country? When it didn’t feel like the world was ending? When everything didn’t seem to be going to absolute shit all at once? When there was a glimmer of hope that we wouldn’t spend the next 4 years being governed by the Conservatives here in Britain? Simpler times :-)

The Pieces

1. The Alizio V-Neck Camisole Top in White: £4.97, Size M

So, what you’re gonna get from the off here is that YesStyle’s prices seem ridiculously cheap, which is something I’ll address in the ethics section at the end of the post. For £4.97, you’d expect an ill-fitting SheIn/Zaful style number but I was so impressed by how flattering this top actually is. I was a size 8 and 32C for reference and my only complaint is that because the neckline has a slight plunge, it was a little awkward to wear with a t-shirt bra. You know, unless you’re into that cups poking out of the top kinda vibe that was a rite of passage for all British teenage girls going through puberty back in, like, 2009 when you wanted everyone to know you’d been on your first bra shopping trip to M&Co with your mum at the weekend. 

2. The Rhames High-Waist Plaid Mini Skirt in Purple: £9.12, Size M

Clueless being as iconic as it is, a plaid mini skirt is always going to be timeless and I know this is a piece I’m gonna be basing outfits around for a long time. It fit perfectly and is surprisingly good quality material; I was kind of expecting it to come in that super thin, semi-see through jersey that you get when you order from a lot of UK fast fashion sites, but a recurring feature of the clothes I picked out was that they were such good quality for the price and exactly as they appear online. I’ve found in the past that UK sites are deceptively canny with lighting and angles in that when the garment actually arrives (Boohoo in particular is a repeat offender in this regard) it’s a lot frumpier than it looks on the model. It seems to be common practice to pin back and temporarily alter the clothes during photoshoots to give the illusion that they’re a lot more fitted and structured than they actually are which ultimately just leads to disappointment when you try on the supposedly bodycon dress and resemble a sack of potatoes. Been there, done that. I worship the ground all carbs walk on but I don’t want to look like them. Should go without saying really. It’s nothing to do with size, but it’s just crappy tailoring and cutting corners on the brand’s part and that’s what irks me. I really appreciate that YesStyle has photos of “regular” people just wearing the clothes out rather than the outcomes of these overly edited, studio lit shoots that aren’t necessarily the most representative of how the garment is gonna look irl.

3. Nikiki Garter Belt: £5.59, One Size

As comfortable as garters come, I guess? I don’t have much experience with them tbh, lol. 2021 to do list, if we make it out of 2020 alive: try more garters.

4. Lucuna Floral Embroidered Cropped Cardigan in Almond: £15.61, One Size

Don’t get me wrong, this cardigan is adorable and there’s nothing misleading about the photo on the website. What I will say is that considering it only comes in one size, it’s pretty tight on the arms. I’m a size 6 right now and it’s really not like I’m ripped or anything (lol) so it’s safe to say that in terms of the Lucuna brand, their sizes come up very small. The cardigan wasn’t the only one size thing I purchased and whilst the others did fit, I think in general the fact that said “one size” is pretty much only suitable for UK sizes 4-8 is pretty shit. A few of the pieces had elasticated waistbands but in general in 2020, when we’ve come so far in the last few years with body positivity and being more inclusive of all sizes, to have a sample size that runs so small isn’t acceptable and this sizing issue is my biggest problem with the store. Though I recognise that YesStyle acts as an outlet for smaller East Asian brands (in this case Lucuna) and thus aren’t themselves responsible for the designs, more consideration should probably go into the harm that could potentially be done by stocking these supposedly “one size fits all” garments. Brandy Melville, I’m looking at you too. Your designs are cute but your lack of inclusivity is shitty.

5. Ohnana Ruffle Trim Strappy Cami Cropped Top in Purple: £5.01, Size M

I’m not as jazzed as I was about this top now it seems that everyone and their mother’s dog is selling it at an extortionate price on Depop but I will say that it’s also very flattering. Makes my strangely long torso look somewhat proportionate, which is nice. The material is pretty thin but it is for all intents and purposes a tank top and the price is reflective of that.

6. Sisyphi Plaid Shirt in Tangerine: £11.30, One Size

So the “one size” option strikes again, though this time with less vengeance-I would say this would be wearable up to size 12/14 so slightly better than with the cardigan.

7.  BBChic High-Waist Wide-Leg Jeans: £10.04, Size M

When it comes to these jeans, I only have good things to say. Like firstly, they make me feel like early 2000s Avril Lavigne AKA. my childhood icon/potential clone/queen of millennium grunge and an incarnation of Y2K fashion I can actually get behind. Secondly, they have an elasticated waistband, which is ALWAYS a good thing. Thirdly, they didn’t come up ridiculously long on me which I feared would be the case; I did wear the platform Filas with them but as you can see, it’s not like they’d be trailing over my feet even in flats. I’m somewhere between 5′3 and 5′4 for reference and usually go for petite in jeans  and trousers just to be on the safe side.

8.  HERMITAKH Ring Detail Halter Crop Top in Black: £5.15, Size M

I have only recently become a member of the itty bitty titty committee but even back when I shot this lookbook this halter actually fit! When it came to tops that necessitate going braless, I always had issues with finding pieces I didn’t feel were going to cause an unintentional free the nipple moment, but the fact that you can tie this top up at the neck and back yourself allows you to work out a fit that’s supportive for you. 

9. Puffie Lightning Print Straight-Cut Pants: £13.76, Size M

I’d wanted a pair of trousers like these for ages before I saw them on YesStyle but the ones I’d come across in the past were a bit extra for my hometown and typically cost more than they seemed to be worth. This pair lack the bulk that the original styles I came across had, which helps give them a more casual, laid back feel, though they are just as vibrant and substantial BUT there isn’t much give in them. They have the slightly baggy look I was going for however they aren’t elasticated on the waist so I recommend having a look at the guide that’s available next to the drop down box where you select the size you want.

 10. Alfie Mesh Long-Sleeve Top in Pink: £7.71, One Size

No, the Jennifer’s Body top isn’t from YesStyle, I’m sorry to disappoint. Go to RedBubble for that one! The considerably less exciting mesh top underneath however, is, and in spite of its relative mundanity (you can’t top Megan Fox as a man-eating demon) it does the job as a versatile staple piece. It’s one size but it does have a lot of stretch in it so would probably go up to about size 14 (not to say that’s great).

11. Barrash Harness Bag: £17.10, One Size

The harness vest is one of my favourite trends to come out of k-fashion and I wanted SO badly to pull this piece off (especially because it was one of the most expensive pieces I purchased from the site) but it was far too big for me even when I adjusted it and TBH...I don’t even know if it’s just the sizing? I kinda felt like a paranoid tourist with their bag on back to front and yeah...I don’t think that’s the desired effect. Here’s an example of how cool they CAN look from Seoul fashion week, and with that another example of why NYFW should lose its place in the “big 4″ to make room for SFW:

12. Mikiko Short-Sleeved Blouse in White: £8.79, One Size

I appreciate that the website notes that the “one size” here runs small, however it does also say that a “base layer” is needed for under the shirt which I didn’t find was necessary at all. The fabric is quite thick and it genuinely looks like the kind of shirt you’d find tucked away in a vintage shop, cute af and will go with anything.

13. Closette Sleeveless V-Neck Vest in Black: £11.87, One Size

Again, I was really impressed with the quality of this jumper; it definitely looks like something you’d pick up in a uniform shop (though this one is probably cheaper because those shops are daylight fucking ROBBERY) but I can never get enough of that grungy school girl look. Blame St.Trinians. 

14. Niji Smile Pleated Plaid Skirt with Insert Shorts in Green: £9.12, Size M

This skirt might be my absolute favourite of the items I ordered on the sole basis that it comes with shorts built in underneath, like, WHY DON’T ALL MINI SKIRTS HAVE THIS!? Plus the shape and the bounce it has to it makes me feel ultra-feminine and effortlessly cute which I love. It didn’t even turn up crumpled! Which you’ve really got to admire considering half the clothes in my local H&M look like they’ve never got within 10 metres of an iron in their short lifespan. 

15. LINSI Elbow-Sleeve Print T-Shirt: £10.92, One Size

If I had to pick one more favourite piece, it would be this graphic top that I wore underneath a pink chiffon Ebay dress. It looks and fits exactly like the photos on the website and I have to restrain myself wasting a wear of it just lounging around the house because it’s also ridiculously comfy.

16. LINSI Plaid Straight-Cut Pants in Orange: Size M

These trousers are currently out of stock, however I will say that of everything I’ve ordered they’re probably the least comfy and on that basis I’m not sure if I’d buy them again. They look great and I will push myself to wear them for that reason but they’re the kind of itchy fabric that I rush to take off and swap for some pyjamas the moment I get into the house. That being said, I don’t know if this is an issue everyone will have because I am someone that is overly sensitive to fabrics so you might not even notice it, plus-stretchy waistband! Which is a plus for sure.

I was also very impressed by the accessories I ordered, which once again completely surpassed my quality expectations. Pretty much everything pictured here was under £5 apart from the shoulder bag which was closer to 10, and when you consider that the price of these is inflated at the moment because of the resurgence of the Y2K trend, this is still ridiculously cheap.

The prices are definitely a concern of mine because unfortunately, when products are this cheap there’s usually somebody being exploited down the line. Since I made this order in May, I’ve had a small slip up with a Motel Rocks order, but other than that have cut out fast fashion completely. I want to be as ethical a consumer as I can, and that’s something I considered before making this post; that being said, YesStyle, actually a Hong-Kong based company in spite of it being touted as the destination for k-fashion, was recognised as a "Caring Company" between 2014 and 2019 (I don’t think this has been updated for 2020 yet given the circumstances) by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. From what I can find online, this award is given to Hong Kong companies that demonstrate good corporate citizenship and responsibility. Whilst this seems like reassuring information, like I said, I find it hard to believe that the production of clothes selling for these kinds of prices isn’t outsourced to low wage workers at some stage of the process. It’s a hard to know where to stand, because obviously the fast fashion industry DOES create jobs that people rely on to sustain themselves but at what point does the treatment of workers in developing countries negate the opportunities the industry provides here in the UK? “There is no ethical consumption under capitalism” and all that but shouldn’t we try to make a change where we can? I agree with the statement though at times it can come across like a deflection of individual responsibility. Plus there’s the environmental side of the debate-having to fly the garments over from the point of manufacture obviously takes a massive amount of fuel which it goes without saying is hugely detrimental to our planet. The sizing is also an issue; the average clothes size here in the UK is a 12, I believe, and yet a size medium seems to come up as about an 8. Asian sizes do tend to come up smaller in general but at the same time, if that’s the case, as an international retailer shouldn’t YesStyle at least address that somewhere on the site?

I don’t want to end on a negative note because compared to sites like Zaful, SheIn, and even UK based retailers such as Pretty Little Thing and Boohoo, YesStyle appears to be one of the better ones. The quality of their garments is incredible for the prices and I admire the transparency of having reviews for every product be so readily accessible. It’s also great to see that they have a section specifically addressing their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, AND  offer refunds to their customers for import fees. God, I don’t know why this isn’t something that more websites do? I will never forget being slapped with a £100+ invoice for a Dolls Kill (bleurgh) order I made once back in the more impulsive shopping days and all the Karen-y emails I sent back and forth. Import fees are understandable but international retailers should definitely make it clearer how these are calculated and give more of an indication of just how steep these fees might be if you’re making a large order. How did you choose your name?

I didn’t. Oddly enough, my birth name was given to me because it was supposedly androgynous, so that works. I used to wish I had a more ‘normal’ name, but now I’m pretty indifferent to it.

What gives you the most dysphoria? (Acknowledging that not all trans people experience dysphoria)

I don’t experience physical dysphoria. I don’t know if I experience social dysphoria, but if so, it’s not too intense.

Do you have more physical dysphoria or more social dysphoria?

Social, if I have it. I don’t like being called certain pronouns, but I’m kind of resigned to it. Only on the internet would it really get to me, but thankfully I’ve never had that happen after coming out.

What do you do to perform self-care when you’re feeling dysphoric?

I don’t need self-care when I have loving and accepting friends!

What was the first time you suspected you were transgender? 

It was kind of hard. In my preteens, I would think to myself that I didn’t want to be my assigned gender, but I didn’t quite want to be the other binary gender either. I kind of resigned myself to being my assigned gender until finding out nonbinary genders were a thing.

When did you realize you were transgender?

5-6 years ago?

What is your favorite part of being transgender?

I feel like there’s a certain freedom to it. When you grow up, you’re fed a lot of messages about gender (boys don’t cry, girls are more nurturing), and I never really liked when people tried to justify my personality with stuff like that. Now that I know I’m not cis, I can ignore it.

How would you explain your gender identity to others?

My gender = No

How did you come out? If you didn’t come out, why do you stay in the closet? Or what happened when you were outed?

It’s much easier for me to stay in the closet.

What have your experiences with packing or wearing breast forms been?

None.

Do you pass?

Technically yes, since having no gender means (ideally) having no gender expectations. I’d like to look androgynous, but I can’t do that socially without tipping people off, and physically, with my body type, it would be a challenge anyway.

What (if any) steps do you want to take to medically transition?

Maybe hormones? But that’s hard to do while staying closeted. I don’t necessarily need them for myself.

Public bathrooms are a den of filth. I would never step foot in one willingly unless it was an emergency.

I don’t know, but given how they talk about trans people, I don’t want to

Would you ever go stealth, and if you are stealth, why do you choose to be stealth?

I literally can’t; that is not a luxury I have. There’s not really a way to be ‘stealth’ when you’re nonbinary. You either have to tell people upfront or let them assume what gender you are.

What do you wish you could have shared with your younger self about being trans?

I probably would’ve told myself what a transmed was so that didn’t affect my entire stance on whether or not I’m trans. But I also would tell myself that being nonbinary doesn’t necessarily mean I have to ID as trans either.

Why do you use the pronouns you use?

I like them! And they too!

Do your neurodivergencies affect your gender?

I don’t know if I’m neurodivergent or not.

What’s your biggest trans-related fear?

Being outed to my family. That would not be ideal.

What medical, social, or personal steps have you already taken to start your transition?

I came out online.

What do you wish cis people understood?

Respecting trans and other non-cis people isn’t impossible. I’ve met a decent amount of cis people who are really cool about it, and I appreciate them a lot.

The sanctity of the English language is not and never will be a hill to die on. Using singular they/them will not kill anyone.

What impact has being trans affected your life?

Things make a lot more sense now! I’m really glad I found out I’m nonbinary.

What do you do to validate yourself?

Write! Creating the representation I want to see, and seeing other people enjoy it, is really helpful!

How do you feel about trans representation in media?

It’s improving, but could be better.

Who is your favorite trans celebrity?

I don’t really know all that much about trans celebrities. I think there’s like 5 I can name total? Asia Kate Dillon interested me in particular, because before hearing about them, I never knew there was a nonbinary character on US television that wasn’t a robot or an alien, let alone a celebrity that publicly identified as nonbinary, and got to play said character! It’s really cool, and I really appreciate them for being out there.

Who is the transgender person who has influenced you the most?

@rontufox. He was the first person I ever knew to mention the word ‘genderqueer’ and was the guy that reblogged the post that made me realize my identity. Great dude, great friend, really understanding and an inspiration for how to treat other people in general! I love you, bro!

How are you involved with the trans community, IRL or online?

Other than having trans friends and reblogging an occassional post… not much. I have little idea what the nonbinary community is like, what problems they have or face. Does an organized nonbinary community even exist? I’ve seen and heard a lot more discussion about and by trans men and women, but can’t really say I ‘know’ their communities, because I’m not either of those identities.

How do you see yourself identifying and presenting in 5 years?

The same.

What trans issue are you most passionate about?

Representation in media. There’s a lot of trans stories to tell, but not many are being told, and the ones that are are often by cis people which creates… issues, to say the least.

What advice would you give to other trans people, or what message would you like to share with them?

No one is immune to misogyny. Please examine how you treat/behave toward women. On the other hand, ragging on men just for the sake of ragging on men doesn’t really do any good for anyone and can easily reinforce harmful beliefs. People who choose to belittle or ignore the struggles of specific men (cis LGB+ men, trans men, men of color, etc.) are especially suspicious when it comes to this.

NEVER INTERACT WITH TERFs. Period. They are not a joke. Transphobes in general are bad of course, but TERFs are especially manipulative. They can and will turn someone completely inside out in order to get someone to believe their ideology and have a lot of sneaky tactics to get otherwise anti-TERF people to agree with them. No matter how secure you think you are in your identity, it’s not worth it. The same goes for transmeds. I don’t know the full extent of their tactics, but based on personal experience, they’re pretty damaging too.

How do you feel your gender interacts with your race, disability, class, weight, etc. from the perspective of intersectionality?

I’d much rather be read as a guy online than in real life.

What, if any, is the difference between your gender identity and your gender expression?

I don’t really get to ‘express’ my gender irl. I’d like to have more ‘plain’ clothes that aren’t obviously tailored for one gender. Online, my gender expression is... just being me! I used to put a little more thought into trying to come off as completely androgynous, but what’s the point of being nonbinary if I can’t be myself?

Do you feel more masculine, feminine, or neither?

Neither

What is your sexual and romantic orientation, and what are your thoughts on it?

I’m ace and aro. I feel like it’s made a lot easier for me to be my identity than if I were attracted to people. I don’t often see unaligned nonbinary people in discussions of attraction, but then again, I rarely see nonbinary discussions at all. It’s already hard enough for binary trans and aligned nonbinary people to get taken seriously as their in a relationship or in other parts of the LGBT+ community.

There’s people who don’t believe nonbinary people exist or should be a part of the LGBT+ community, and then there are others who don’t believe asexual or aromantic people should be a part of the community either. But there are many more cis+heterosexual+heteromantic people, who would not accept nonbinary, ace, aro people at all. It’s hard to interact with the LGBT+ community beyond support if you have to second-guess whether you belong at all. But, the more I learn about other people’s experiences in the online LGBT+ community, the more I learn that no group feels completely safe, and all of them are either being persecuted or ignored by each other. I don’t really know what to say other than it’s really sad.

Is your ideal partner also trans, or do you not have a preference?

I have no ideal partner.

How did/do you manage waiting to transition?

I came out online. That’s it to me. It was pretty easy for me in particular because there were very few people who I told my assigned gender beforehand.

I wish to be able to understand and respect other parts of the LGBT+ community better. I know I won’t be able to understand other groups 100%, but I like learning! And more than anything, I don’t want to make it any harder than it already is to be LGBT+ online. I want to help my friends!!

Why didn’t you write “as a trans person” after those last three questions, when that’s what you meant? 

I’m not sure if I see myself as trans to begin with. I’ve only heard one other person share this sentiment with me, but I feel like being trans is a little more involved what I am, and I don’t feel comfortable co-opting on that experience (even though...taking this questionnaire meant for trans people… might be doing just that.) I do want to clarify that I’m not saying that nonbinary people who share my experiences CAN’T be trans. I’m just saying that I’m not sure if I see myself personally as trans. I’m not cis though. That I know for sure.

Alright. Ahah. Shit. So. Reminder. I tone down my unpopular opinions on tumblr, often don’t state them... and I especially wouldn’t even breathe aloud something like this usually. And I never will again after this post, aha. You know my blog is HTTYD positivity! Whenever I talk about Hiccup and Toothless on tumblr, it’s always going to be preaching and regaling the wonders of their friendship. And I always want you to have fun with what you love in the fandom without me stomping or shitting on it!

You’ll go back to reading lots of great pro-Hicctooth posts from me after this, I promise. This is just a one time honest response about my personal reaction to Hicctooth because you asked. Heads up you might not be smiling and saying “thanks” when I give my opinion. Heh. Yyyyeah.

I have mixed emotions about Hiccup and Toothless’ friendship. Anymore, most of my emotions aren’t enthusiastic.

The relationship between the boy and the dragon was one of the great appeals when I first watched the 2010 movie. I adored especially seeing Toothless on screen! I also think that the greatest and most powerful scenes of HTTYD 2 are about Hiccup and Toothless’ friendship... my heart resonates, sings, and cheers when I see Hiccup reaching out to Toothless at the end of the movie. Hiccup rejecting Toothless shocked me and broke my heart... Hiccup reuniting with Toothless and getting the dragon out of the Bewilderbeast’s control is the utmost definition of beautiful friendship. “I won’t leave you! I won’t let you go!” - it’s one of my favorite lines from Hiccup ever across the franchise. So yeah. I adore that about Hiccup and Toothless’ friendship!

The Hiccup and Toothless relationship is one of the greatest things about the franchise. It’s one of the biggest, most emotional, and most developed relationships through the movies... and it’s one that resonates in the hearts of viewers. I’ve definitely been moved by Hiccup and Toothless, and their moments are some of the best on screen.

So those moments are when I’d say that they are cute and adorable. The problem is I usually don’t think about Hiccup and Toothless that way, and it’s hard for me to think of Hiccup and Toothless that way... mostly because of how Toothless is characterized in HTTYD 2. That’s why I have the two words “cute” and “adorable” crossed out... I used to think of it as cute and adorable, but now it’s hard for me to think of them that way anymore.

Please pardon me, but this goes back to one of my greatest pet peeves plus one of my biggest fears irl.

It’s about Toothless acting like a dog. (Prior commentary on topic: [1] [2] [3])

Yes, it is that big of a deal for me and that much of a turn-off.

For many people, Toothless’ dog-like actions help them relate to the character more. They find him more endearing and cute and can think about their own relationship with their pet. Please, enjoy that! I don’t want to speak any disrespect regarding what you love about Toothless’ characterization.

That said, for me personally...

...when the second movie made this dragon act more like a dog, it... ostracized me.

I’m very scared of dogs in real life. I’m almost always uncomfortable or on edge around them. When I take walks around my neighborhood, I intentionally avoid passing houses with loud barking dogs. If I hear a dog start to bark further down the street from me, I’ll cross the street or take a turn. If I see someone walking a dog, I’ll often cross the street or step off the sidewalk. 

So Toothless acting like a dog almost completely removed my ability to enjoy the character. Without being able to naturally relate to Toothless anymore, it makes it hard for me to enjoy the relationship of Toothless plus Hiccup. It’s a dynamic that doesn’t resonate with me... but on the flipside makes me feel a little... disappointed... uncomfortable... displeased... irritated, even. I know that Toothless’ actions were modeled off of cats, dogs, and horses from the get-go in 2010... but the feline aspect of Toothless was much more expressed in the first movie... and the second movie just bolted after Dean DeBlois’ love for dogs and... twisted Toothless away from me. I don’t like the fact DeBlois inserted in his own dog-loving desires to sort of change Toothless’ actions in the second film. My apologies... but... bad taste, in my opinion.

The pet peeve is that it’s a lame trope for non-canine animals to act like dogs. It’s a lazy storytelling device to get audiences to like a non-human creature. Any random animal suddenly acts like a dog in an animated movie... and through that, tada! the audience likes them! To see Toothless have so many dog-like qualities in HTTYD 2 thus felt like they cheapened him as a character... and again, made it harder for me to relate to the friendship of Toothless plus Hiccup.

So that’s some of the reason why Hiccup and Toothless don’t resonate with me anymore. But that’s just me. Please, go out, have fun, enjoy their friendship! Don’t let my really rare and unpopular opinion make you feel bad or anything! And remember... I’m not going to rant about this again.

on changing my brand // both IRL & on SoMe

NEW NAME ANNOUNCEMENT

 I've been at this for a good couple of weeks. It's something that's been nagging at the back of my head from time to time the last year or so (who's counting?) and now I've finally made the decision to change my instagram handle - in other words; a little re-branding is on it's way.

I've learned some things in the process of asking around, listening to people's feedback and opinions.. I even made some polls on my instagram stories (if you're as big of a fan of polls as me, you should check out my stories now & then). And even though I appreciated all the positive feedback I got from my followers, I also have to think of the bigger picture.

You can't please everyone. 

When I asked around to get some feedback on wether or not they thought @colourline was a misrepresentation of my instagram grid, the response was very split. Some thought it was misleading, others didn't. Some thought it was creative others said they were confused or felt like they missed something.

When I asked why, again the feedback was split.. Some said my feed was misleading because dark and muted. Others said they could easy see the colours, and some even thought muted colours were better then bright colours. So I'm gonna make some happy, and some.. not so happy. Either way, I can't make everyone happy, so I might as well do what makes me happy.. So I thought.. but then.. what the heck do I want? What makes me happy? I also learned that some people think they can give orders, when you ask for feedback. No dear, it's still my choice. I think it's important to remember who's in charge of not only yourself, but your brand and your choices. 

I was met with a lot of interesting opinions, advices & feedback. I've been given it a lot of thought, and I'd like to share a little about what I learned in the process. If you're thinking of some changing yourself, this might even help.

 _underscores_ and dots.. looks unprofessional Well, I think this is debatable, I personally don't think it have to look unprofessional. As a matter of fact, I know some pretty professional, respectable & creative people, just to mention the lovely @me_and_orla who uses underscores. She has +177k followers + a blue tick. So neither instagram nor her big following finds that too unprofessional. That being said, I don't think I would ever use it myself, but that's personal taste, I don't necessarily think it looks unprofessional. A Wildflowers Home is a very long username and might look too long or crowded in a post. Well, I agree it's a rather long username, but not thaaaat long. ;) I don't recall ever thinking any username looking over crowded in a post, but I thought, I'll do some research. Two of the new handles I've been considering is; 'A Wildflowers Home' & 'A Wildflowers Journey'. Without spaces they're 16 and 19 characters.  I scrolled down my home feed to see how long people's usernames is, and see if there were any pros & cons to be aware of. My "biggest fear" would be if the name was so long that Instagram would only showcase half the name followed up with some dots, but what I found was that even the charming Grace behind @gracewithabookinherface, with 23 characters was still readable and did not look over crowded. Long? maybe a little. Overcrowded? nah. Interesting. She has a +46k following, so her followers doesn't seem to have a problem with her handle either. So I don't see what a longer or shorter username should be better or worse for, but I thought it was interesting to see that many had 15-20 characters.  So I don't think it's the length that scared away people.

Okay, so here are my personal thoughts behind the name-changing. I have a whole history with the name @colourline, so no doubt I had nostalgia & feelings attached to it (I tell the story a little longer down), but I'm gonna try to tell it from a more objective perspective. While I think the wordplay was fun, with my name in it, it was creative, easy to prnounce and recognisable.. all the stuff that I like.  I also recognised that it had less to do with my future plans and dreams. I didn't necessarily have a problem with the colour in my name. While some people think of "colour" as bright rainbow colours, not all do. Colours come in all tones and moods, which I love. I've been testing out quite a few different themes (before the one I've got now), someone mentioned; because of all the different themes it had a colourline through it all. Again, people have so many perspectives, there will always be some that loooves it, and there will always be someone who just doesn't get it. And that's okay. Who do we make this for. Ourselves? Who do we wanna share it with? Our audience. Let's not try to impress those who'll never be impressed or care anyway. Waste of precious time, man!

I was given an interesting perspective that got me thinking; having too many different names on the internet, can be a bit confusing. Not only for people trying to find you (or recognise you), but also for yourself. Juggling between lots of usernames, (that's not your own name) might be too many balls in the air at ones. I had 'Colourline' on all my social medias and my blog name 'A Wildflowers Home'. I've been thinking a lot.  For me, Colourline was my name on the internet. I didn't use my personal name much. A Wildflowers Home is my blogs name, that I also have other dreams and visions for making a physical place in the future (you can read more about my dreams here), so that name stays.

 The story behind Colourline

Colourline has been with me since I was 6. I moved from Denmark to Norway at that time, an the ferry we travelled with had the brilliant name; Color Line. I was thrilled, to say it the least. When you’re 6, seeing your name in big fat letters on a ginormous boat, it’s probably one of the coolest things in the world. We travelled with it every summer & I still got that merchandise keyholder with the magic name somewhere in my room. 

Funfact: I’ve been tagged twice by people thinking I was that ferry.

When Instagram came along, Colorline was already claimed by another dude. I was a little bummed, but I quickly found out that you can spell Colourline more than one way. So that's the reason for the british "u".

Since that day, it’s been my username + an old mail address (I was a teen!).. pretty much everywhere! 

But now, I'm thinking it might be a time for a bit of change. 

In my early teenage years I started developing a more playful & colourful style. Imagine mix matched socks, lots of jewellery mostly DIY'd + colourful oversized T-shirts with fun logos. I even added my own touches.  I was very shy at the time + just changed school (again), so being this bold in my appearance was a pretty big step for me. I was even known as hippie Line for a little while (btw it’s pronounced “Lee-neh” for those of you who don't know). 

So you can say Colourline wasn’t only a good ferry childhood memory, but became a description of who I was, at that time in my life. 

As I’ve grown older, I’ve still got the hippie in me & the colours here and there, but the tones have changed & the feel is more moody & I’ve (finally) dared to let my inner rock chick out.  I was terrified of not being the playful & colourful girl anymore (you can imagine the identity crisis, hah), but I learned to embrace the growth & changes in my real life, & now I feel like it’s time to embrace the changes in my internet life too. 

This might seem superficial & dramatic to some, but for a creative girl with big dreams, visions & a need to express myself, this goes a lot deeper than what I wear or a name on the internet.

Okay, so to the last part. I consider my instagram as a journey, a quest, an adventure, my path through life.. but what to choose? I found this brilliant description on Pinterest, that helped me made up my mind:

-I don’t really have anyone that close to me personally who died so I would probably save the chance til later on. Lmao I can’t waste it on a character

2) Would like to know when you’ll die, or how you’ll die?

-When I die so I can know how long I have to wait for the sweet embrace of death.

3) Do you have any desire for anything? If you do, what is it and why is that?

-Maybe to see my online friends because I don’t have friends irl. Also to get a job probably and just like 2345 dogs. Maybe know a lot of languages and be really smart too. Idk also maybe be more sure of my self and not have so much anxiety about things.

3) If you earned an enormous amount of money, what would you do with that?

-this # 3 again? i guess 12 questions then lol its fine. Kinda same answer I would literally just buy a nice house so I can live with online friends and buy them lots of nice things. Buy people nice things like friends and family. Also get a lot of pets for our house and maybe do some traveling.

4) What kind of people makes you very irritated?

-When people are rude for no reason or they are not loyal and lie. Also people who never shut up about themselves like I don’t care if they talk about themselves but like if im not close to them then there are things i don’t need to know. It just becomes more awkward because I don’t want to say. I guess it’s more like they’re like narrating their entire day to me then idk....probably gonna annoy me unless like my favs because gotta know everything about my friends!! But, I’m not really close with anyone who does that I mean there were people in the past but yeah..

5) If you could pick an era, such as Middle Ages or far future, which one would be your choice?

-That’s a tough question but probably far future because I love technology and want to see all the advances we made. Also the world might have changed a lot more socially and be more accepting of others.

-Either Hope or Charity because it’s important to give back to other people. Also, it’s always good to have hope and I can’t say I always let myself get my hopes up but it is a nice aspect.

-If it’s against my friends or someone I care about then fight and if it’s just me or something probably just flight.

-Uhhh I don’t know maybe a Panda or Penguin or Dog. I haven’t really thought about it but those are my favorite animals.

-Probably abandonment and being alone forever (don’t necessarily mean in a romantic way just literally alone with no one)

-Maybe taller than me but I’m 4′11″ so probably anyone. Looks are nice but they don’t really matter to be just have to be kind and understand me. Accept each other flaws; also be loyal and honest with each other.

-I’m actually Satan Uhh probably make all those trashy people in the world like realize their wrongs idk and give good people what they deserve like riches and not killing off nice people. maybe if youre kind you get to live forever with people you chose. make all my friends have the best lives and the people who treated me and my friends like trash they get nothing ame with other rude people. I don’t have too many, I prefer my real name (which I’m not revealing), but I have been called Windy and Sketch a lot.

I don’t read as many books as I used to, but the original Percy Jackson is up there.

Not really.

Ok, my favorite song pretty much changes weekly, but right now it’s a mix of Dangerous (Left Boy Remix), Two Birds and Older and Taller (Regina Specktor), Animal (Minor Key Version, Chase Holfelder), and who knows what else.

Puscilanimous is a fun word. I like that one. I like many words. Too bad I can’t always speak them right.

Closer + All Star Remix (DJ Dwibbit). I don’t even know why but it’s not bad.

The Great British Baking Show. It’s just so comforting, and honestly so much calmer than American Baking shows. Just so sweet and welcoming.

I spend more time on Youtube than on movies. It’s kinda sad. That and I overanalyze movies way too much. That being said, I just found an amazing movie called Ethel and Ernest and I’d highly reccomend that as a feel good (or feel bad) movie.

All the questions? Sure, why not? Insomnia is making me its bitch anyway1: How did you choose your name?- originally I was gonna go with Lilith from Borderlands 2 because yes please to her entire aesthetic, but I decided to go with the more "normal person" name Maria. Partly because of the lead singer of In This Moment, Maria Brink (absolutely gorgeous, phenomenal singer, and the Black Widow album helped inspire me to live true to myself), and Lady Maria from Bloodborne (she's got a Tragic Backstory, feel disconnected from family due to traditions/ environment, and has regrets about who sent was). All in all, one is a person I admire to be like and the other feels like I'm looking in a mirror. Both are also women with blonde hair and I think I look damn good as a blonde2: What gives you the most dysphoria? -Facial/ body hair3: Do you have more physical dysphoria or more social dysphoria?- Most of the time, physical dysphoria. Social dysphoria still gets to me because I'm not out to my family and everyone in that group refer to me with childhood nicknames/ my "(grand) son/ nephew." 4: What do you do to perform self-care when you’re feeling dysphoric?- Shower, shave, lie in bed and dissociate while playing mindless games on my phone 5: What was the first time you suspected you were transgender?- this is actually a hard one for me to answer. I was (in a weird/ sad reality) really sheltered as a kid, in the sense that I didn't even know transgender people were a thing until High School. I think part of it started when I began playing runescape in middle school; I chose a female avatar and went with a generic female name whenever someone in game asked for it. For some reason, I really enjoyed being addressed like that but chocked it up to being like 12. Similar thoughts came up again in HS when I was told on several occasions and by several people that I'd make a pretty girl; again, I took it as a compliment and it made me feel really good about myself. Other times were also when I was asked "what would you do if you suddenly woke up as a girl?" my answer was usually "go back to sleep and go try on cute clothes" and also being super jealous of girls at school dances (wanting to wear the gorgeous dresses/ heels/ makeup)6:When did you realize you were transgender?- January of 2014, when I had read on Tumblr about Leelah Alcorn. It was extremely depressing to read her letter and diary entries about her personal life; while reading everything, I kept realizing that I felt almost exactly the same way she did, and by extension that I was also trans7: What is your favorite part of being transgender?- just being able to feel comfortable in my own skin, and also getting to wear all the cute shit I wanted to in HS8: How would you explain your gender identity to others?- the people I have come out to, I simply as them not to use he/him pronouns because I outright don't identify as such. It's pretty simple9: How did you come out? If you didn’t come out, why do you stay in the closet? Or what happened when you were outed?- at first, I only told people when we were able to talk 1 on 1. As I've gotten more comfortable with my identity, I gladly come out to people that I'm comfortable around. I still need to come out at work which I'm avoiding for 2 reasons. The first is that I don't know how open-minded/ accepting my coworkers/ boss are; the second being that I want to get on hormones so that there's no turning back on what I say and how I feel10: What have your experiences with packing or wearing breast forms been?- haven't done anything with breast forms yet, probably gonna be uncomfortable though 11: What are your experiences with binding or tucking?- tucking is a hassle in general.
