going to be autistic on here abt bjd eyes

i’ve been experimenting w trying to make bjd eyes for years at this point and im like confident in my skills but i’m struggling to find the right materials. i watch a lot of various eye makers’ tutorials to see what they use but the problem i always find is that most of them don’t seem to worry abt how the eyes will hold up longterm, which is smth i rly want for mine. like using uv resin for the base will yellow so bad….not to mention the health effects

so it’s like health + longevity that bothers me. i don’t want to use toxic materials for my eyes and risk my health for it. stop using resin without proper ventilation and shit inside your home. please.

my best bet rn is polymer clay for the bases and it works great but the major problem i have is dust in the pure white of the eyes…gonna try some ways of minimising this but i also can’t spend all my energy trying to reduce dust in my environment bcuz it’ll give me a heart attack from the stress. plus i can’t seem to get it to smoosh perfectly in the silicone molds…it’s always got some dents. that’s probably just practice though

so for the dust my thinking was maybe i’d just cover it in acrylic paint after, but acrylic paint stays a bit sticky and attracts dust anyway so. it kinda cancels out. i’ve thought about other materials to use as a base but it always comes back to yellowing. i wondered whether maybe thermoplastic could work but i couldn’t find anything about the yellowing rates so, maybe i’ll try it and leave it sometime but i don’t have high hopes

but then ofc there’s the problem of The Oven. i make the irises out of polymer clay bcuz that’s what works best for me. i’ve never been able to use pastels for my colours bcuz it just looks gross and grainy and muddy no matter what i do, so polymer clay is pretty non negotiable. which means whatever i use for the bases has to be oven safe

and the bubbles in the domes as well…it’d be good to get a pressure chamber someday but that’s a more serious piece of kit than i have room for rn. laeli suggested trying a vibrator to agitate the bubbles which i wanna try so bad lol. but i need to get the resin first….i wanna try art resin cuz it’s supposed to be non toxic so i could use it indoors. and i saw some tests where it was super resistant to yellowing as well. so it sounds perfect but since it’s 2 part resin i’d have to have a lot of eyes prepped beforehand so i don’t waste it all as it’s not cheap !!

im thinking about seeing if i could do the bases with art resin as well but since it’s only non toxic on its own cuz it doesn’t react with anything else in the air, i don’t know what pigments i could use if any. apparently their pigments they make are kinda ass and i’d need it to be a really solid white. they also don’t sell the pigments individually afaik. i’d like to try a white gel pigment but again !! i don’t know how it’ll react. it’d probably be fine but i wish i had the info…..plus i don’t know if it would just melt in the oven. you shouldn’t really put resin in the oven. and if it worked i’d definitely want to get my own little oven sooner as i’m just experimenting w the kitchen one first….bcuz it comes back to the toxic fumes. but even if i did that’s also. having the space for it

Why the fuck do people hate on sign language so much or people who use/need it. I've been taking asl classes for a bit and holy shit I actually love it so much. It's such an expressive and beautiful language it's been absolutely amazing learning the history behind it and different dialects (yes sign language has dialects). If these mfs would stop being ableist for one damn second and pulled their head out their ass and took a sign language class they would see the absolute whimsicalness of it all. It's also helped me a lot to despite being hearing, I have autism and ADHD so I have really bad sensory issues and sometimes go non-verbal. Now I can still communicate with my friends and my teachers without having to stress myself out or write everything down. If you know asl for whatever reason, whether its cuz you're deaf or heard of hearing, your relatives are deaf or hard of hearing, you need it to help communicate better, you're an interpreter, or just know it just to know another language for fun. Just know I love you and you're fucking awesome :3/p /nf

So before we understand why Toshiro is the way he is we must first understand two things abt him:

1. his household situation is a very traditional clan of warriors type situation. his father is very strict and he left his homeland to go to the Island and explore the dungeon to train and become a warrior to be someone suited as the family head

2. Eastern and Western cultures of respect/propriety are different, and Ryoko Kui highlights it well even in her fantasy world.

With that in mind, heres some bullet point rapid fire thoughts that consume my current state of dunmeshi brain:

Toshiro has an avoidant personality. He fears upsetting others due to his upbringing, and rarely tells others how he feels not because he thinks they would simply understand him but because he doesn't want to seem rude and imposing / cause offense to others especially since he's not in his own homeland / hes a foreigner that should respect the land's customs, not his own wishes.

Setting boundaries is hard for everyone, but especially autistic (and some other ND, like those with Avoidant Personality Disorder) people. Those with ASD, at least in my experience, don't want to be isolated from others. So they mask.

They mask what? their desires. their true selves. their opinions. their discomfort. all for the sake of pleasing others (who are often neurotypical)

With that in mind, suddenly, what Maizuru said abt him as a child makes sense. Due to his strict upbringing, Toshiro had to more or less hide his preferences and force himself to adapt to the rigid constraints of his culture and the pressure to be the next family head, this responsibility is his burden to bear and he cannot be someone who expresses his selfish desires instead of focusing on being a strong warrior and leader

"Why did he say he hate Laios and that it should've been obvious that he disliked/found Laios' treatment of him uncomfortable??" BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS. I'm not going to write off Laios' autism/autistic coding, but its baffling (note: definitely racism and bias for white autistic ppl) to me that a lot of ppl don't see Toshiro's perspective and straight up ignores it. This is a lack of wanting to be rude by speaking up that is based on culture difference on Toshiro's part, and straight up ignorant of his microagressions/racism and lack of self awareness on Laios' end. They were both right, they were both wrong too. This is a complicated conflict that cannot be boiled down to simple ableist/the NT vs ND divide. There's something called . intersectionality. Which brings me to the next point

Toshiro never actually hated Laios. He found him uncomfortable, yes. But he didn't /hate/ him, he was speaking out because he's had enough!!! he's done tolerating Laios' racist bullshit, and he's done following the arbitrary Eastern rules of respecting others and not being rude!!! He. Wants. Laios. To Understand. What. He. Was. Feeling. Because he just had enough!!!!! alright!!! he's at his limit hes at his breaking point, the one he loves is now probably beyond saving, and this is a good time as any to break the news to Laios that he thinks that Laios is impulsive and doesn't fully understand how his actions have consequences!!! Hes right abt this. His feelings on this is valid, just as valid as Laios'

General autistic traits I find from Toshiro: his admiration of Falin's indifference towards insects ("woah shes so brave and gentle!! just like me, fr!!!"), His lack of regard for his own needs and wants (needing to sleep and eat and drink) because he was super focused on saving Falin, His lack of like drastic expression changes, his discomfort with physical touch when it's initiated without consent (see: Laios hugging ppl extra bonus art by Ryoko Kui), his manner of like speaking short and concise, people pleasing tendencies, his like quick way of combat, rule upholder/routine following enjoyer, he seems distant from others even those he consider family not cuz of like any terrible reason but hes just. someone who enjoys his own time alone like. yeah

Big part of this is definitely me relating to Shiro as an Asian (specifically chinese indonesian) person who is probably Autistic lmao. I hope this brings more insight on why Toshiro is actually one of the silliest and epiccest dunmeshi characters ever I love him

had to say this to a community blog, but abed is literally me, i watched that episode where a gay guy hits on him in a bar while he info dumps to him about his own special interest and i am just here like the soyjack pointing guy at this man like he is literally me (accurate recreation of what is going on in my brain rn below)

first off, great image & the sentiment is shared by many of us on community tumblr I’m sure. ALSO that’s so awesome, something that continues to blow my mind is how accurate some of abed’s little quirks and behaviors are??? they’re so incredibly niche and seemingly random yet somehow hit the nail right on the head???

like in pillows and blankets when they say that bit about “he’s a mastermind capable of incredible manipulation, but also can’t tell his left from his right without singing the star-spangled banner” (that’s not the exact quote verbatim but you get it) I was like ???;?;?$;$;$;$;(! I hope you stick around for my future ramblings which will inevitably happen down the line nehehehehe. Also I find it interesting how I'm expanding to becoming the Callie AND Frye guy, and you know what? I'll take that! Once Splatoon 4 rolls around, I'm gonna be on HIGH ALERT to see if our baby girl goes down an all too familiar path that Callie and Marina went down on.... And if that happens.... Self Diagnosis Talk.

What I find absolutely crazy is how I found out I was autistic.

It literally was Donatello from ROTTMNT…. 💀

So after I heard that Donnie was autistic coded I was like oh that’s pretty neat, and since I liked ROTTMNT so much ( It was my special interest but I didn’t know that for a while ) I wanted to make headcanons of it like I do with every show I obsess over.

I started searching up autistic traits so I could associate that with Donnie and stuff.

But in the middle of watching a really good and informative autistic person explain some traits that autistic people have that not many know of-

I was like….. Hold up.

Why do I relate to these?

At first i just thought, “Well some allistic ( I didn’t know what that was at first but I’m saying that ) people go through that, just not as much as autistic folks. So there’s no way I could have autism.”

But then I keep searching up and looking into more neurodivergent stuff, and I keep relating to the things that are said to be signs/traits of autism.

So then I got skeptical.

To make this rant shorter, I f**ked around and and found out I had autism. 👍🏽

And this was during the winter/winter break/Christmas/probably November ig.

I can’t tell anyone though because the people I’m close to are ableist. I found that out the hard way.

And now I’m here sharing it with the world. Some of the world.

Will make me order the most expensive options on the menu.

Would get mad if I asked him on his dating history.

Is the type to call his ex crazy.

Would try to banter and be smug and smooth but I'll probably misinterpret that as him being mean(I have autism)

Over all bad date and will not call me back.

Would probably do a chill date.

Has the best date food.Not too heavy but not too light.

Takes beautiful pictures of me.

Will let me yap and speak on through the date.

The only red flag is that he's so secretive. He barely talks about his life,his goals,his day-to-day.

And that's very noticeable and suspicious.

so i finally watched the devil's chord and i. AUGH!!!! UEUHGH!!!!!!! i watched space babies a couple days ago and it was good ofc but i felt like it was missing something but devil's chord was literally fucking PERFECT. it was scary and emotional and silly and weird all at the same time and i almost cried and i got so many goosebumps and i just AAHH!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE EP UNDER THE CUT. GIANT RANT. I AM AUTISM.

i already have a giant bias towards the episode cuz one of my longest interests has been music and instruments but oh my fucking GOD the way they talked about music and hearing classical songs that i knew almost sent me to tears IM NOT JOKING. ruby playing the piano was so awesome and hearing saint saen's danse macabre made me feel like i was going to ascend into the heavens. putting doctor who and classical music, two of my biggest interests, together, was the best thing imaginable. I LITERALLY CANT DESCRIBE HOW HAPPY THIS EPISODE MAKES ME.

SECONDLY, I LOVED MAESTRO. like the toymaker (who i also adore so SO incredibly much), they have this silly evilness to them that makes them so INTERESTING!!! and then finding out maestro is the child of the toymaker was EVERYTHING. BECAUSE IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. jinkx monsoon, the person that plays maestro, says some stuff about them that explains why i love them so much. "When human rules don't apply to you, you get to do whatever you want. You don't have to worry about whether your emotions make sense to people because you don't have to answer to them." and "What I love about Maestro is that, while objectively evil, they are an artist, they have a mission statement. " THESE ARE THE EXACT REASONS I LOVE THE TOYMAKER AND MAESTRO SO MUCH. both of them are other-worldly beings. they're gods of their own realms. they're dramatic and passionate and so dead-set on getting what they want. but its not just about getting what they want, its about having fun with it and turning it into a show. because what's the point in going out if you cant go out with a BANG?

something else i loved was the doctor in this episode. ncuti gatwa's doctor, like david tennant's, is so extremely emotional and passionate and it makes me want to SOB. the doctor mentioning his granddaughter? TEARS IN MY EYES. "i can only smile like this because ive lost so much" SOBBING ON THE FLOOR. the 15th doctor has already been so emotional and i know im gonna cry so so much while he's around. BUT THATS SOMETHING I LOVE ABOUT DOCTOR WHO. because it can be so silly and weird and funny and then it can turn around and be spine-chilling and emotional ALL IN THE SAME EPISODE. because when you think about it, the story of the doctor is HEARTBREAKING. and when that side of him comes out you HAVE to expect the waterworks.

AND THEN RUBY THE ENTIRE EPISODE ???? i know theres something up with her and i just OH MY GOD!!! BECAUSE THE SNOW??? THIS EPISODE AND LAST EPISODE? AND THE SOUND OF CHRISTMAS?????? im gnawing on the bars of my enclosure I NEED TO KNOW. shes so interesting I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT because its like who's her mom?? whys she able to do the snow thing?? how did she have a song in her ????? AND MAESTRO SAYING THINGS LIKE "no he couldnt be there" "the old one couldn't've been there" WHO IS THAT. WHAT DO YOU MEAN.

IM GOING INSANE. IM SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT I COULD EXPLODE INTO A MILLION PIECES.

Wanted to do a big pretty artwork for the Hilda finale, but I'm sick and have no ideas and motivation. So here's something simple.

Awful rant about the show, if you're interested: (spoiler free)

I started watching the series back in late 2021, right after the movie was announced. (Which was just my excuse to watch it.)

It was surprisingly good. I was grinding a Royale High event through the entire thing and I still enjoyed it a lot. I think I watched one half of the movie before midnight on new years eve and finished it after. I went out of my way to avoid my family to watch it. I was so hyped, and it was so great. Probably still my favorite movie to this day. I've had two phases where I watched the movie for 5 days straight and never got bored, and I still rewatch it regularly. I LOVE HILDA AND THE MOUNTAIN KING ‼🗣🔥💯

The series itself means a lot to me. I watched it in a difficult time in my life. (It's gotten worse 😊) It was so nice and calm. There weren't even any references to the real world and no fourth wall breaking. It was so nice for me to escape into that little world without any reminders of my own big and scary world, and it still is.

Hilda will always hold such a special place in my heart. I think season 3 was great, and the last episode was awesome.

Also, what do you mean it's been 2 years? Has it really? You sure? Are you for real????

I wanna go back to december 2021 I was so much happier than I am now 😭😭

Thanks to Luke Pearson and his gang for bringing this series to life and giving it a wonderful ending, I will never forget it! Def gonna watch it with my future children. (My reptile collection)

I need to share my triumph of making people see Bakugo as the shitstain that he is, lol. So, storytime a couple of weeks ago, I was out with my BFF. we were at this arcade type place that's open super late, and I had on my Midoriya hero costume backpack purse(it's my favorite) and this guy saw it and complimented it and was like oh cool! I guess he's your favorite then, and I'm like, yes! Though Todoroki is, of course, a close second. So I pulled up the scene from season 5, where Bakugo throws his headpiece at Midoriya and impaled him with it. And then mentioned his apology scene that I went into detail about on here a couple of months ago and did a short summary of why it was wrong. And went oh yes, so much character development. His abuse is funny now instead of being considered bad. His apology was just victim blaming and complaining about how much better Midoriya is as a person than him. And the guy just looked at me and had this look of horror and realization. And when he finally responded, it was glorious! "I never thought of it like that, but now that you brought it up, no wonder you hate him." Which was kind of awesome because some Bakugo fans are really unreasonable in their love of him, so it was refreshing not to have the guy jump down my throat for not liking him. Especially since I have genuine criticisms about Bakugo. Could he have been a good character? Yes? Is he a good character as far as the manga/ anime is concerned? No. His character development is 1 step forward 5 steps back, and I hate that.

Also, my BFF is an enabler she doesn't watch or read mha and all the knowledge she has comes from myself and another friend of ours ranting about it, but she enjoys hearing my rants about why I dislike Bakugo so much lol. I love her for that she's the best.

basic info that i am 99% sure you already know:. its a bloody and violent fast paced fps where you are a robot who went to hell for blood (blood is fuel and allat 🔥🔥) . you kill literally everything. its level based and you travel down through the layers as you go. theres multiple weapons and multiple weapon types and also 3 different arms that you can switch through really quickly to get more style points and deal more/different damage

my favorite weapons are the marksman revolver (your can throw up to 4 coins in the air and then shoot them.) and the pump charge shotgun (you can also parry the shells to make it go further which is awesome and really cool and also awesome. if you overcharge it, it blows up and can launch you really far. both good and bad depending on what situation youre in) but theres more weapons and i dont really want to explain every one, so. :3 (oh oh the screwdriver railcannon is also good cause itll hit an enemy and cause it to bleed. which heals you. hence the 'blood is fuel'.)

there's like a. score thingy and your rating for each level is determined on how fast you complete it, how many enemies you've killed, and your style points. (and i think how many times you die). all levels have a like. best score that you have to get for it to be like, S or A or whatever. P ranking is beating a level under a specific time, killing everything, and getting at least a certain amount of style. and not dying at all. its kinda. pretty hard. this is what a p rank looks like

that was for the level where you fought v2 and got the whiplash (arm that is like. uhhh. grabby thing? how do i explain it . like it pulls you towards things or things towards you depending on their weight. like a grappling hook?? idk) basically it was just a boss fight thats why the style points and kills are low. i dont have pictures of any other levels ive p ranked.. so .

The Dupain-Cheng Family (and friends) Rewritten

Below are my rewritten backstories for Marinette, Marc, Socqueline, Alya, Nora, and Nino

Marinette Dupain-Cheng:

Marinette was born on November 20th to her parents Tom and Sabine Dupain-Cheng Since she was born, Marinette was always weirdly intertwined with anything and everything that had to do with creating, which, according to her mom, ran in the family She always had a knack for baking, and she loved fashion so she was quick to pick that up too, she also had a habit of helping with things like scheduling or math or other things that had to do with organization With those things, it wasn't much of a surprise to her that she was neurodivergent, having both ADHD and autism Her friends, Alya and Nino, often told her how awesome her clothes were and that even their families liked them, and the constant praise she got from something she adored doing was what birthed MDCDesigns

Marc Anciel:

Marc was born on January 2nd to his parents Séverin and Diane Anciel Being autistic and narcoleptic made Marc's early years of life difficult, just one would make it difficult, let alone both, so for most of their life they didn't have friends, falling into their family for support They loved their family, of course they did, but it didn't help their case of being the weird kid who passed out like a scared goat, and it was even worse when they realized they were gay and a demi-boy as well Thankfully for them, they met Alix, another person who didn't fall into the gender binary society placed around them from a young age and the two became quick friends Marc didn't like talking to new people, so it was a surprise at how easy it came to them with Alix, but unsurprisingly, Alix's friend Nathaniel was hard to talk to, not just because he was a new person but also because Marc had a stupidly huge crush on him…

Socqueline Cheng:

Socqueline was born on June 1st and adopted by Cosette Cheng when she was 10 Going from no family and few friends to an entire extended family with two cousins, two aunts, two uncles, and a bunch of other family members was like whiplash to Socqueline, but she loved it and she'd never trade her family for anything Despite not being blood related, Socqueline would do anything for Marinette and Marc, often being the first to offer a hand, and in some cases a fist, whenever either needed it When she went to université, her first thought was if her cousins would be fine on their own, but once her homesickness wore off, she began to live her life, meeting her best friend Allan and even beginning to date someone she adored

Alya Césaire:

Alya was born on February 26th to her parents Otis and Marlena Césaire and is the younger sister to Nora and the older sister to twins Etta and Ella. Throughout Alya's life she had always been obsessed with superheroes, so much so that for every party she had it was a different superhero depending on which she was most obsessed with at the time, her room was decorated with all the superhero merch her family could afford, and she'd also gush about the heroes all over the world whenever the news of whatever they did reached Paris. Her love never changed for heroes, never once faltered, and her love of superheroes was what led her to meeting her friends Nino and Marinette, as they also loved the heroes, specifically the United Heroez in New York. When she was 15, she started a blog that focused mostly on the United Heroez, but also updated people on heroes all around the world. She did her best to keep it as updated as possible but her main focus was keeping places who didn't have heroes such as Paris in the loop of what the worlds heroes were up to. She's not exactly friends with Aurore and Mireille but since the three of them run the school blog, Alya does run into them from time to time and the three tend to rant about things on Alya's blog

Nora Césaire:

Nora is a professional kickboxer, who has gone through multiple tournaments at her young age Over the last few years she began to train others in kickboxing and self-defense

Nino Lahiffe:

Nino was born on July 5th to his parents Philbert and Jeanne Lahiffe and is the older brother to Chris. From the moment he was born, Nino loved music, so much so that many of his presents (once he could use them) were music related. He got headphones, a record player, a laptop to make music, and so on. Nino's parents were friends with Marinette's, so since the two were born only a few months apart from each other, their parents made constant playdates between the two, and they had been friends ever since. Sometime during their first year of Lycée, the two had met Alya and became an unstoppable and inseparable trio of friends.

Christmas Carol autism rant

Honestly of all the stories and songs and such that get oversaturated during christmas, I unironically enjoy how many versions of A Christmas Carol there are. Not only because its a good story in general, but because unlike something like Rudolph, every single version has a uniqueness to them. The simplicity of the plot allows for so much messing around with the setting, the timeline, the mood, its all so malleable. And then there are the characters. Scrooge, Marley, and the ghosts specifically are all fairly simple archetypes, but because of their simplicity, each variant of the story can expand on said archetypes however they want, heck they can even completely zigzag the archetypes and put something completely different in the slot of one of the characters. Especially for the ghosts. Usually they’ll just go with the archetypes of angel, santa, death, but every single version gives the trio their own flavor. An angel can be a lot of things, like a girl, or a candle, or a dirty taxi driver, or the Eleventh Doctor. But Scrooge himself is probably the most interesting. Compared to the other characters in the story, he’s the one that changes the least between each adaptation on the surface. Grumpy old man, hates christmas, greedy, bad childhood, bad friends, bad breakup, the works. These guidelines are mostly unflinchingly rigid, but the exact brand of bitterness, and the details of the events, are left up to whoever’s writing. My favorite version by far though is unironically the Muppets version. Unlike most other adaptations, Scrooge doesn’t seem that hateful in that version. He still does the same greedy and evil crap as the other Scrooges, but he isn’t as angry as the rest are. You don’t get the impression that he hates anyone, and he seems more depressed than anything else. Even when he outright says that poor people should die, he just sounds done. Like he’s only saying it because he doesn’t care enough to filter what he says. And of all other Scrooge’s he’s the most willing to change. When he’s shown his past he immediately brightens up upon seeing simpler, more familiar times. When hes with the ghost of christmas present and sees the cratchets and his nephew, he makes the least wisecracks of any other Scrooge, and seems genuinely hurt by how lowly people think of him. And when yet to come arrives, he goes with him willingly, knowing that this is something he must face if he wants to be saved. Oh yeah, if you can’t tell, the muppets version is my favorite, the Marleys scene solidified Statler and Waldorf as my favorite muppets and is easily the highlight of the movie for me. But for some close contenders, George C Scott’s version is definitely the creepiest version Ive ever seen and it gives a lot more context about Scrooge’s life than most others. The Ghost of Christmas present is surprisingly intimidating, and dear GOD yet to come gives me chills. It’s strange how much mileage you can get out of a creaking gate sound effect. The Doctor Who version is also a personal favorite for being both weird and clever at the same time. Weird because its on an alien planet where sharks float in the air and can be used to drive chariots, but still SUPER clever for how it screws around with the story. I dont want to spoil too much, mostly because I want an excuse to not explain how bonkers the story is, but the way they mess with the “past present and future” theming is genius, because of course it was this is doctor who we’re talking about. And of course theres Spirited which is also extremely clever with how it messes with the story, but is also just really fun and charming to watch.

I’ve already written so much that I do not have the energy for a well written conclusion so uh, my point is that Christmas Carol adaptations are awesome despite the fact they probably shouldn’t be, and um…stay hydrated!
