even more atla/genshin/hsr au headcanons because i am experiencing dangerous levels of brainrot over this: the gaang (minus zuko for now) edition (part 1)
1. sokka and katara are originally from watatsumi island
2. along with his dad, sokka looks up to gorou as a leader
3. one day sokka and katara fall into that whirpool in the middle of the island and walk through that cave system that leads to enkanomiya, and they find a boy encased in rocks. they manage to break him out (with several interruptions of sokka screaming over a flying manta ray) and the boy reveals himself to be aang, the avatar
4. the avatar is supposed to master anemo, pyro, hydro, and geo, and they often master the subsects of those elements (electro from pyro, cryo from hydro, dendro from geo)
5. they head over to kyoshi island (pretend it exists in inazuma) and the events play out like in og atla and they eventually sneak out of inazuma with sukis help
6. next stop, liyue. they stop at guyun stone forest and see some bending battle between "the blind bandit" and "the oni king." the blind bandit absolutely destroys the oni king and aang tries to get her to teach him how to bend geo, but she refuses at first. then, a pirate woman (somewhat drunkenly) comes over, putting a hand on the blind bandit, who they came to know as toph, and tries to talk her into it
7. beidou helps toph escape her family and then she can teach aang in peace (well. not full peace but you know)
8. zhongli finds them training in guyun stone forest one day and aang is fangirling like (oh my god im your biggest fan, ive heard stories of you for over a hundred years) and zhongli is like "wtf man youre 11?"
9. zhongli helps aang out for a little bit before going on his way
10. the gaang has way too much fun in liyue harbor. they end up flying kites while sitting on the rooftops at night, but then they notice a redhead fatui harbinger roaming the streets, and they have to leave
11. they go up to mt aocang and get scolded by xianyun for not bringing gifts, but ganyu and shenhe eventually come up the mountain and she stops
12. ganyu and shenhe, upon hearing kataras a waterbender, teach her (and aang) the art of cryo

So while rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender recently, I noticed a trend
A number of spirits we see have an animal form, specifically animals we recognize as "normal" for us. For example:
- Wan Shi Tong is an owl and his knowledge seekers are foxes
- Tui and La are koi fish
- Hei Bai is a panda
-The guardian of the mother of faces is a wolf (The Search)
Heck there's even the talking Baboon spirit and the monkey missing its face that we see in the Spirit World at the end of Season 1.
Basically every time we've seen a "normal" animal, they've been a spirit.
My point? I argue that Bosco is a spirit bear that's chilling and living the good life in the mortal world just because he can.

New headcanon (that is highly specific and very rarely useful but I find highly entertaining anyway)…
Why Sokka immediately distrusts Aunt Wu:
Her Mark of the Wise was upside down so she was obviously not to be trusted.

Concept: Veils are more widely worn in the ATLA universe for a variety of reasons
Zuko and Toph enjoy travelling together and their favourite disguise in the earth kingdom is: Strong earthbending noble escorting her shy, reclusive older brother.
People thought the Bei Fongs had one (1) daughter who was tiny, blind and fragile - until suddenly she was the avatar's earth bending master, so the public have accept that they know nothing about the Bei Fongs. Who's the say they DIDNT have another child that they carefully hid away? Especially considering THIS child is dressed in neutral browns and muted golds with a veil obscuring his face. And sometimes people catch a glimpse of gold eyes or scar tissue through the gauzy fabric. It makes sense that the Bei Fongs would hide away a child born of an affair with a firebender.
Toph loves playing the part of escort. She gets to boss him about, and drag him all around the best restaurants, and order an outrageous amount of food for him. It's nice having people default to speaking to HER as the authority figure, after spending so much time in the presence of the Avatar and the Fire Lord.
And Zuko gets to be anonymous. He's not the Fire Lord when he puts that veil on, he's a reclusive and fragile noble who no one looks to to make decisions. He gets to switch his brain off and let Toph drag him around and speak for him. It's freeing.
Also: please imagine the look on the Bei Fongs faces when they hear that everyone thinks they have a secret hidden firebending son who's galavanting around with their run away daughter. They'd be HORRIFIED. Toph knows this and RELISHES in it.

Zutara headcanon #35594
When he realized that Katara didn't have any sort of image of her mother (as the Water Tribe isn't really known for its paintings), Zuko hired the most talented portrait painter in the Fire Nation and then consulted with Hakoda and Gran-Gran for as many details as possible in order to commission a life-size painting of Kya to give to Katara.
The painting was so beautiful and so true to life that Katara almost thought her mother was about to step out of the canvas. It became one of her most cherished possessions.
Many decades later, after Katara passed away, the painting was considered a masterpiece and placed in the Southern Water Tribe cultural heritage center and museum. It is the most beloved work in the gallery and remains a symbol for many Water Tribe and Fire Nation people of love, courage, and kindness.

insane crossover idea i just had in the middle of class
atla, genshin, and hsr
PART 1 OF HEADCANON TIME: HARBINGERS EDITION
1. there are a lot more harbingers in this universe, and zuko, azula, kafka, firefly, and blade are all part of the fatui
2. pierro and ozai are co-directors of the harbingers
3. azula was always at a higher rank than zuko because ozai got pierro to move her up
4. the reason zuko got banished in this au is because he spoke in defense of scaramouche whenever he ran away with the electro gnosis. he said that scara shouldnt be banished from the fatui, so they banished zuko instead
5. firefly never wanted to be a harbinger. they just kind of forced her to join because of her abilities and her relationship to blade and kafka
6. zuko, wanderer, and firefly all left the fatui at different times for different reasons and they all somehow found each other again (well, wanderer had to reintroduce himself because you know)
7. the path to irminsul is a lot more complicated, like a labyrinth, and if you take a wrong turn, you could get stuck in the penacony memory zone
8. firefly tried to get to irminsul to try to get back the ability to dream, but she got stuck in the memory zone for a while. she eventually made it out due to sheer fucking will
9. zuko ends up in sumeru after fleeing from the harbingers with iroh and, after getting out of irminsul, firefly ends up in fontaine
10. zuko and iroh meet wanderer and nahida and nahida invites them to stay for a while. iroh and nahida share different ways to brew tea while zuko and wanderer go on angsty walks in the forest or something. they both deny that theyre friends. they are friends.
11. firefly/sam has to get repairs to her mech suit in fontaine and eventually joins the guardes and is trained by clorinde and chevreuse

Azula as Zuko’s Royal Advisor is where I see her ending up after everything is said and done. And yes I am ignoring the messy trash that is the comics.
Zuko hands Azula his regency seal and then foists all his paperwork off onto her as revenge for trying to kill him. She swears up and down that this is much worse then what she put him through; he just laughs at her.

Steambaby time again!!!
This one's akiak!! (Or aki for short) and he is Sakari's younger, "cooler" brother. He's named after his great grandfather on his mother's side
Here's his deal:
- he's fun and social, noble, and charismatic
- bisexual mess, his lovelife is a waking nightmare
- he is the general of the united republics armed forces, and is considered young for his rank
- he can be very, very overly emotional
- he is somehow selfless and very self-absorbed
- he cuts his hair to be trendy and zuko hates it
Also in my au's timeline he replaces iroh ii in tlok

I hate it when people reduce Aang to some “pure innocent uwu soft boy” when it’s canon he was mischievous and a prankster at times 😭whether it be dunking pies on monks’ heads with Gyatso, sliding down the chutes/using it as a slide when he’s not supposed to, scamming people with Toph….

Concept: Fire Lords traditionally dress like the stages of the sun to match their reign.
When Zuko is first crowned, he dresses in the colours of dawn. Bright yellows and pinks and even purples. He starts to wear more traditional crimson-and-gold robes after a few years, the colours of midday when Agni is at his strongest. And towards the end of his reign, when he's getting ready to pass the crown onto Izumi, he starts dressing like the setting sun.
