new years resolution,,,,,,,,,,, draw more barnaby. end post
#dolly's rambles#but really new years resolution is to draw more in general#push our art limits more#draw more backgrounds and full drawings#which is so much easier with my new art tablet!! thank god#uhhh also learn (more) polish#Polish grammar will hit me like a truck this I know but I'm trying to stick to bulking up my vocabulary first#Vocabulary and spelling then grammar#til then we write po polsku like a toddler tak tak#apparently nouns have different forms depending on conjugation too??#something about it being explained as 3D nouns to me but it made me physically ill knowing i will hate learning it#i will hope to be pleasantly surprsised who knows who knows!#aaah oh yes and comics#I'd like to make a comic or two even if they're short here and there#I have high hopes! high goals!#oh yes and hopefully i can get an at-home job or a desk job of some kind#because physical work is off the table i've absolutely ruined our body this way#i am built for the endless pursuit of knowledge! Not so much physical work#Which honestly wouldn't be such an issue unless work would actually abide by the limitations i've told them i have than pushing it#sigh....... but i digress#a new year! moving in two and a half weeks!! goodness gracious it hardly feels true...#I am excited! I am nervous! But I am filled with love and light for the first time in a very long time#my heart is filled with honey and i've never felt so sweet#That is something I have learned. Did you know?#It's a polish saying when you've been touched.. That it's honey for your heart#sort of like saying “that's so sweet!”#Miód na serce!#I wish you all a honey to your heart like that

Art stream shenanigans from yesterday, meme by @kriimhild
My new years resolution was to learn draw backgrounds. I still don't know how, actually, but Clip Studio's default brushes and me messing around usually come up pretty good-
(Some examples of me messing around with enough brushes for the backgrounds until it looks good under the cut)
(two last ones are from last year, but the rest are from this year)
While character art is mostly my main focus, I am pretty proud of my journey of figuring out how to add them into worlds that feel real for them :3

My New Year's resolution last year was to become a happier digital artist.
For years becoming an artist was always on my to do list. Every chance I had some spare money I'd buy another art book. The "One"~ that'll finally hold the answer that will unlock my full artistic potential.
I know that realistically the answer is actually just to do and to practice and keep doing.
But online I kept seeing these incredible pieces, done by people younger than me, or who had this amazing art school knowledge I couldn't afford and I felt horribly discouraged.
Then...Drawfee came into my life. It changed everything. It was the answer. Practice and learning was still how I'll become a better artist, but Drawfee helped me changed my mindset as to how I approached art.
The Drawclasses are epic sources of knowledge, but also just watching speed draws and having these artist of different backgrounds explain their methods and what works for them was just a big foundation toward my own artistic journey.
Also the basic silly ones too!
Most importantly, Drawfee helped me be kind to myself and where I'm at in my art journey. That I can have fun with my lil creations and to be proud of what I can do today as much as what I'll be able to do next year! And five years down the line!

Merry Gyftmas everyone!
I'm gonna be honest, I had no idea what I wanted to draw this Gyftmas, I had an idea of making an gif, but i thought more and decided to do a fanart instead
Fun fact: I've actually searched for the internet to find how the hell you write "Gyftmas" and I found that Undertale never used Gyftmas, I actually was able to find a character saying "Christmas" which means that it being called Gyftmas was fan made, thought it was a cool fact.
This is going to be the last thing I'm gonna post this year, I can guarantee you I have many things planned for 2025.
I know it's not new year but again, I'm going on vacations, so I'm putting here my new year's resolutions
I want to learn how to draw faster
I want to do full animations
I want to better my artstyle lineart and coloring
Find even more canon about more aus (going for Reapertale, killertale and either ink or error)
Draw more backgrounds
I want to do more fanarts celebrating the aus birthdays
Maaaaaaaaybe sell a commission?
I already put on my calendar a bunch of birthdays, though of many animations and even picked the song for them, I can promise to my few followers that this year I'm gonna get all the stuff I learned from this year, and make the next better.
Btw I got really proud of the background so might as well
(for those wondering the sock order goes from left to right: Toriel, Asriel, Frisk, Chara, Asgore)
Anyways, take care, and see you in 2025

Six Sentence Books Sunday
hello y'all! i've been having a busy week, trying to get all my christmas shopping done before December even begins, because otherwise i know the entire month will escape me and i'll wind up realising i've missed someone on christmas eve. despite my efforts, i still haven't got anything for my dad- usually he's the easy one to buy for, but this year i'm just stumped.
i'm also putting my billy goat Hadrian out with the girls (Juno, Daisy, Lucy and Mina) in just under a week, but Daisy was getting pushed around and picked on, so i separated her last week so she can put on a little weight and relax beforehand, because if she's stressed, she may not come into season. then it snowed. goats are herd animals, they prefer to have company, so i made sure she could see the others through the fence, but it turns out she is absolutely loving having her warm little hut to herself while the others all share the big shed, while Hadrian has a corner of the hay shed to himself, with wickets keeping him from the hay.
flattering photos of the handsome chap and damsel in distress before the snow hit:
sorry for the ramble. anyway! writing! well... i haven't been doing much lately, to be honest. when i'm in a writing slump, i like to read instead, and i view it as putting words in my brain so that it can make it's own words. it also helps me pick out things i do and don't want to emulate in my own writing. so instead of sentences, here are six books I read this year which i took something from:
We Solve Murders by Richard Osman, from which I am taking that it's okay to just use "said" instead of using a billion synonyms, as it blends in to the background and allows the story to flow more naturally. unless the way something is said is really relevant, it's better to show a character's feelings another way.
American Hippo by Sarah Gailey, which has such easy to follow yet engaging action and fight scenes, which I aspire to.
Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie, which had me sobbing inconsolably at the end. if a book prompts a physical reaction in me, that's an instant 5 stars. it's based on the ancient greek play Antigone, and though you don't need to know the play to enjoy the book, it really does deal an additional sucker punch to know how that story ends and yet hope so desperately the whole time: maybe it will turn out okay this time? a masterclass of foreshadowing and implication, somebody can literally die and it go unsaid, but you will know and it will destroy you.
Alcestis by Katherine Beutner. I hated this book. Plot? I barely know her. Consent? What's that? Resolution? Nah, pass. I learned what not to do from this garbage.
Percy Jackson: Wrath Of The Triple Goddess by Rick Riordan. I actually read both of the new pjo books that came out this year and honestly, they've shown me that sometimes a book can just be fun. There's no world ending drama, but still emotional moments and tension, and the whole story takes place over a matter of days. It doesn't have to be perfect, it can just be a good time.
The Amber Fury by Natalie Haynes. As somebody who writes a lot about grief, this book really helped with that by depicting it in such a raw and honest way, allowing the audience to connect with it even if they've never experienced the kind of loss the main character has. I do draw on my own experiences, but this helped me put it into words. It also shows how healing is always possible, no matter how severe the grief, so long as you have the right support system, something I am still muddling through.
an invitation to share some sentences or some books: @forabeatofadrum @cutestkilla @run-for-chamo-miles @roomwithanopenfire @prettygoododds @bookish-bogwitch @ic3-que3n @blackberrysummerblog @j-nipper-95 @youarenevertooold @larkral @that-disabled-princess @orange-peony @aristocratic-otter @thewholelemon @alexalexinii @confused-bi-queer @shrekgogurt @comesitintheclover @raenestee @hushed-chorus @you-remind-me-of-the-babe @noblecorgi @shemakesmeforget @ileadacharmedlife @supercutedinosaurs @artsyunderstudy @otherpeoplesheartachept-2 and @ninemagicks

Happy new year everyone! Art vs artist!
When I first joined Tumblr and started sharing my drawings and concepts, I noticed posting my main characters got way less attention than my other posts. So I kinda forced myself to draw the things other people liked better.
My drawing-related new year's resolution this 2024 was ignoring what people wanted, and doing what I want. And that's what I did this year. I loved drawing and dedicating way more time to the Space Freelancers.
I just had to remind myself that I do this as a hobby, I don't need to become famous nor is this a job. I have to prioritize what I want to do. And I'm proud to say I've gotten better at that this year!
2025's drawing-related resolution is to try to draw more frequently, and to learn new things outside my comfort zone (like backgrounds, or I've always wanted to try animation).
Hope everyone has a great 2025, I'll see you around here.

Happy new year six!!! Do you have any resolutions for this year?
happy new year aswell Lya!
I have a few personal ones, like starting to learn a new language and reading at least one book every month, but the ones I'm most looking forward to are the art related
I want to really start improving my skills, so this year I wanna focus on learning how to properly render, improve my perspective and anatomy skills & learn how to draw backgrounds!
I'm most scared of backgrounds, but I've gotta start at one point or else I'll never improve haha

Happy (early) New Years!
My last upload for 2025!!! It's New Years Eve for me tomorrow so it's.... not too early in terms of my timezone PFFT
--v Alota text under cut if you wanna read it! v--
But yeah, gods, how did 2024 go by so slowly but so quickly? Admittedly, 2024 hasn't been kind on me, both physically and mentally. With the stress of my sister's pregnancy carrying until August, hopefully you can understand how stressful that time period had been on us TwT
Not only that, after he was born, the.... house has become a little bit of a pigsty, so that's not great on my mental health either 💀 I've also pushed my body way too hard this year with nearly drawing at my laptop for all year straight, rendering me bedridden at one point this year just because my body was in too much pain to move. Not great at all.
For the copius amounts of stress and anxiety I endured, I gotta say there were some fuckin' EXCELLENT moments!! I went to comic con for the first time in so long, and cosplayed Michael from FNAF, joining in with photos and overall celebrating FNAF's 10th anniversary at the con with so many others! AND MY BESTIE WAS THERE TOO! Cosplaying as the puppet >:D!
We also went to the aquarium for my birthday which was so bloody lovely. AND WE SAW PESTO, the GOAT that he is KEKEK
HUEHUEHUE I ALSO FINISHED FINAL FANTASY 5 TODAY!! MEANING I have accomplished completing Final Fantasy's 4, 5 & 6 aswell as other games such as Night in the Woods, Undertale, Undertale Yellow, Deltarune and TLOZ: Echoes of Wisdom >:3
I also cannot underestimate how welcoming the Undertale and Deltarune community was to me aswell. I made so many friends and mutuals through it, I literally cannot express how much that meant to me ;w; AND AND THE METTATON COMMUNITY, YOU GUYS RULE!!!!!! ✨✨✨✨✨ This was the first time in so long I felt I belonged. So, thank you :'> I look forward to Mettaton May 2025 >:))))))
ALSO Cannot forget one last thing.... ART FIGHT. My best year yet HUEHUEHUE I loved attacking so many characters this year, and yes, I SURPASSED MY HIGHEST SCORE! I plan to go further beyond in 2025, buttttt I also won't put pressure on myself to actually achieve it.
For as mixed as 2024 has been, I learnt for myself what my new year's resolution will be for 2025. No, I won't put pressure on myself a 50 billionth year in a row telling myself to practice backgrounds LMAO
No, my New Years Resolution Is to be kind on myself. 2015 was my favourite year ever, and even if 2025 doesn't end up being as good as 2015, I wont wallow in that. But I want to make it as special as I could possibly be able to achieve. Especially in preparation for 2026.
2026 is an uncertainty for us. Our lease ends in 2026, and around Christmas is when we learn if we get another year or we're booted. If you didn't know, Australia is going through an intense housing crisis, so I genuinely fear what will happen when that day comes.
But, for now and in the present, I'm going to try and make 2025 special for myself. I want to do so much, and ESPECIALLY go to Comic Con again as Noir Mettaton PFFT But yeah. Lets hope, knock on wood, that 2025 is a good year. Better than this year atleast OIUGGGJH

Play Outside Day
Okay, okay, so, my New Year's Resolution is to learn how to draw better backgrounds. I am really, really bad at backgrounds/ environments/ landscapes/ whatever you call them. But if I learn how to do them, I'll have a lot of really good knowledge and skills that I don't currently have.
The only problem is, I've never had fun drawing backgrounds. I know that a world can have as much complexity and interesting stuff as a character, and can be very important for stories, but it's just not fun for me. I didn't even try on the landscape up above because I just didn't want to do it. So, learning to have fun is the first step.
Huh, who would've guessed that references are useful? (This is based off a picture from a book.) I rarely use them in my art and that is a huge mistake. This piece is kind of funny because of how blurry it looks. It feels like my glasses are off even though they are on. It was just meant to be a monochromatic thumbnail, but I wanted color.
Foreground, middle ground, background... what are those? I feel like I'm a complete beginner again, and in some ways, I am. I just hope that I can improve and not become discouraged. I love drawing characters, but my characters deserve settings to explore, and I've been denying them that for too long.
Happy Play Outside Day (Feb 1st)! Also World Read Aloud Day, Take Your Child to the Library Day, Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, and the day Willy Wonka opened up his Chocolate Factory for the five kids with Golden Tickets.
#holidays#reasons to celebrate#new years resolutions#drawing backgrounds 2025#my art#beryllineart#environment art#background art#it's really hard to convince myself that i can't (and shouldn't) be able to do it perfectly first try#wish me luck

Okay, so... new year's resolution was for this to be the year that I have a go at drawing again... So here is my first attempt cause it's been over a year since my favourite TARDIS team had an outing. 🥺🥺
Half edited (stock background, overlay), half drawn/painted... learned a lot for sure.
And you just know they're running from some mischief they caused! <3

🎇✨ It’s December 31st, 2024! ✨🎇
Here we are, folks—the grand finale of 2024!🎭 The curtain’s closing, the hobbits are heading home, and I’m staring into the fiery eye of 2025 like Frodo with a to-do list. Let’s get into this:
A./ Art Grind Resolutions 2025™️ (No Promises Edition):
Back on the grind! Like Geralt on a monster contract or Gandalf after yelling "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" I’ll be dusting off my brushes, my pens, and my cursed Dwarven sketch tablet. Expect more art, more chaos, and fewer excuses.
A Schedule? MAYBE. We’re aiming for organization here, but no promises—this isn’t Rivendell, and I don’t have Elrond planning my days.
Commissions are opening! That’s right, a shiny new comms sheet will drop in 2025. Look out for it soon! (Or, you know, soon™ in classic D&D planning.)
Adoptables galore! I’ll be trying to whip up 1–3 adorable, edgy, or delightfully cursed adopts every month. Tieflings, elves, maybe even a Witcher-inspired griffin bard? WHO KNOWS.
B./ Level-Up Goals:
More detailed pieces! Like crafting the ultimate dragon-slaying sword in Kaer Morhen, I’m pushing myself to work harder on those sweet, sweet details. Sparkly magic effects? Yes. Backgrounds? We’ll see.
Art tutorials?! A sprinkle of artistic chaos for you to learn from? Maybe. If I don’t get distracted by building another NPC in D&D.
Patreon revamp! I’m aiming to polish this up so you lovely folks can enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes chaos, sketches, and more.
C./ New Stuff:
Some projects are lurking in the shadows like Gollum with the One Ring. Stay tuned for the shiny reveals.
Oh, and let’s not forget: 2025 is also the year I fully embrace my Self-Indulgent Era™️. That means you’ll probably see a lot more of the hyper-specific, slightly cursed, and delightfully niche content that lives rent-free in my brain. If I want to spend three days drawing Eredin, King of the Wild Hunt, in thigh-highs and a garter belt, guess what? I’m doing it. And if you see it posted, just scroll on by, Geralt. This is between me, my pencil, and my artistic freedom.
I’ll try to stop overthinking every little thing I want to share. I mean, it’s my page—why not throw in some weird Witcher-D&D crossover fanart? Why not write an entire essay on why emo Legolas would 100% listen to My Chemical Romance? (He would. Aragorn would roll his eyes but secretly agree.)
I’ll sprinkle in more of the stuff I love, the stuff that makes me laugh, cry, or sit there saying, "Is this too weird to post?" Spoiler: Nothing’s too weird anymore. 2025 is the year of feral, unhinged creativity. If you’re here for it, great. If not, well, I’m not changing the dice rolls for anyone.
D./ GENERAL DISCLAIMER FOR 2025 AND BEYOND!
If you catch me lovingly drawing, writing, or screaming into the void about a particularly unhinged, deeply problematic blorbo (you know the ones), please consider this your blanket disclaimer: I do NOT condone their actions, behavior, or life choices.
If they’ve committed war crimes (looking at you, certain Witcher villains), I am NOT saying war crimes are cool.
If they’re the kind of character who would definitely steal candy from a baby, set the baby on fire, and then gaslight the witnesses into thinking the baby was the problem, just know I’m not here for that behavior in real life.
If they’ve poisoned wells, burned villages, or lied on their taxes, rest assured I am firmly against all three (especially the taxes part, IRS scares me cause I'm really bad at maths and they have calculators).
However, will I still make self-indulgent art of them lounging dramatically on a throne, wearing lingerie (again), holding a glass of wine, and staring into the distance like the messy little war criminal they are? You bet your chaotic little soul I will.
Examples include but are not limited to:
The sexy but utterly terrible lich who probably eats people but, like, is so aesthetic about it.
That one D&D villain who monologues for 20 minutes while their henchmen are actively losing a fight.
The morally bankrupt sorcerer who only uses their powers for evil but still has incredible eyeliner game.
Eredin, in lingerie. Again.
Just remember, folks: it’s fiction and art here. Let me thirst for the villains with the tragic backstories and the devastating cheekbones in peace. In real life, I promise I’d be the first to call the local paladin squad on them.
Probably. Maybe. Okay, fine—if they apologized really well, I’d consider negotiating. That said, me thirsting for the local baddie doesn’t mean I wouldn’t go full Vicious Mockery on their ass to roast them to filth about their behavior. I’m not a bard—good looks won’t move me from my morals. Not yet, anyway. (Eredin, stop calling. babe)
So buckle up—if you see more lingerie Eredin, angsty bard OCs, or a niche analysis of why Geralt would win a baking contest against Radovid (he would), just know this is my ✨artistic vision✨.
Let’s raise a glass (or a mug of hot cocoa, Witcher style) to the new year! Thank you for all your support this year—whether it was likes, comments, shares, or chaotic energy in my inbox, you’re the Legolas to my Gimli, the Roach to my Geralt, the Tarrasque to my roll for initiative.
See you in 2025! Let’s make it one for the (spell)books. 💫 (P.S. If I don’t follow through, just blame the dice rolls.)

11, 20, 24
11) Something you want to do again next year?
Well, I'd like to join more fandom events and projects! I just participated in the 72 Hour Jam on TF2Maps.net, and it was pretty cool. I'd love to do something collaborative, perhaps..... I just need to get over my shyness and fear of bothering people.
20) What’s something you learned this year?
Hm. I learned how to use SFM? And that I'm really bad at online classes and it's not just a depression issue.
24) Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions?
Uhhhhh. Well.... I made some, but kinda.... by pam was I ambitious lmao. I think the only one I actually kept was "post once a week". Like even that one might have been a stretch, but I'm pretty sure I posted art almost every week this year. And even if I didn't, my output otherwise kinda makes up for it. My backgrounds are still..... really scuffed. And the longest single comic story I did this year was my "FemScout is Oblivious, let's laugh at FemSniper being very pitiable" comic, which is only seven pages, while the goal was fifteen. Less than half of what my intention was...... And a minute of FULLY COLORED animation? C'mon December 2023 Gopher, even YOU should have seen the hubris in that one. I can maybe give myself partial credit for drawing more consistently. I can draw Medic looking MOSTLY like himself, at least.

And in a few hours, it will no longer be 2023...
I remember how at the start of the year I wanted to finally draw art properly, like from scratch. Till then, I mostly never made my own projects (unless, I accidentally make something, but it wouldn't all that great haha): mostly tracing and tiny doodles on a giant canvas and such (naturally, I never posted those anywhere lol).. But, because I made the decision, I was able to improve a lot and now I can draw my own scenarios which I picture in my head (most of the time) which wasn't something I could do at all back then, as well as learn a lot of new techniques. Here are my first and final works of the year:
I'm proud of how much I've improved and I want to learn more. I've met a lot of great people on Tumblr this year and I thank you all for being awesome, let's all do our best next year as well!!
Now some resolutions for 2024 (writing it down here so I can look back on these at the end of next year) :
To Improve more in art: To learn backgrounds, how to draw faster, better my coloring methods, to better my art styles, etc.
To be able to read Japanese properly (so far I've only learnt hiragana; now katakana and kanji comes next!!) and to be able to speak it properly as well.
To find new hobbies and interests.
And to be able to enjoy myself and to deal with situations better.
..and that's it. Not putting too much so I don't have to keep track of too many things. 2024, here I come!!
