“this song makes me feel like i’m falling in love with someone.”

isagi glances up at you from his phone, no longer shuffling the playlist that you’re both listening to. you’re looking out of the window, your feet propped up on the back of the seat in front of you, your head resting on your closed fist. you miss the way he flushes red.

“do you want to keep listening to it then?” he mumbles softly, thumb hovering over the slip button and his voice just barely above a whisper. you almost don’t hear you despite the fact that you’re sharing headphones and only have one ear-bud in while he takes the other.

this time, you tilt your head away from the window and the scenery passing by to lock eyes with your childhood best friend. “no, s’okay,” you say, your voice equally as low. “you can change it if you’d like.” your facial expression is tranquil, the swell of your lips pressed into an appreciative smile and your eyes sparkling with the sunlight that glitters outside of your moving train.

isagi’s nerves quickly get the better of him and he breaks eye contact, swallowing thickly before looking away with his own smile (mostly for himself).

“i think we’ll keep listening to it.”

you’re both on the train from the bustling city of tokyo back to the tiny town you both grew up in. with the off-season approaching, japan’s beloved striker had finally managed to get some time away from the blue lock team to visit his parents, and you were off on your university’s allotted spring-break.

this was the first time, in what felt like forever, that your calendars were synced up.

your bond with isagi had always been strong — from the very first moment you’d met, back in middle school when he’d kicked a soccer ball straight into your lunch and then instantly offered to buy you a new one. impossible to separate, you were joined at the hip right up until he left for blue lock. these days, your paths rarely cross and while isagi’s career in soccer bloomed like you always knew it would — you went the more traditional route of life and found passion in your own university degree.

after some moments of quiet, aside from the children crying in their mother’s arms, teenagers gossiping on their way home from junior high and the calls from the attendant manning the snack cart — isagi speaks up, shyly. “who…who would you be in love with? yanno…because of this song…”

“some guy, i’ve known him for years.”

“does he know…how you feel about him?” you shake your head and isagi presses you again. “have you tried telling him?”

“gods no, yoichi!” you wave him off almost too quickly — curling in on yourself like a highschool girl handing her crush a confession letter or chocolates on white day. perhaps because this is exactly like that. you’ve liked him, loved him, for as long as you can remember. he makes your skin hot and your thoughts a mess and when isagi’s nearby you hardly remember who you are.

and he hardly realises how lovesick you’ve been for him over the years. it would be too embarrassing to admit that you have a raging crush on one of japan’s favourite athletes.

“why not?”

“because…if he felt the same he would have noticed by now.” you answer, trying to shut down the conversation. “i’ve been obvious with my feelings. the ball’s been in his court for a while.”

“maybe he’s just oblivious.” isagi keeps going and in the cramped space of your train seats you feel hot under the collar — your nerves shaking under the pressure.

you’re given a brief moment of relief when the attendant on the snack cart stops for the couple seated opposite you. they seem happy and in love, it makes your heart twist.

the train jolts, pushing the attendant into isagi, who then topples into you — invading your space once more, causing heat to build up under your skin.

“h-he’s a way too smart for that.”

“maybe…he’s unsure? maybe he doesn’t understand your signals?”

the song you’re listening too changes as you pull into the next station.

“or maybe he doesn’t love me, yoichi!” you snap, turning your head away so fast that the ear-bud slips from your ears and the wires are left dangling between the warmth of isagi’s body and your own. you try to sit still, fighting off burning, frustrated tears — lucky that no one’s heard your outburst over the busy ambience of the train. “believe me, i’ve held out hope for it.”

“but i do love you.” he snaps back, grabbing you by the wrist so that you’re forced to look at him. isagi’s eyes are wide and deep, swirling in their hypnotising shade of blue with an emotion you don’t recognise seeing on him. love. “maybe you’re the one who’s dumb enough not to have noticed. maybe i’ve been too shy or too caught up with soccer to say so. but i love you. i want that song to make you feel like you’re in love with me.”

“o-oh…yoichi i—“ your eyes widen, then soften all at once and you feel yourself melting fast — as if all of your dreams have come true. “i don’t know what to say…”

the tips of his ears are bright pink, the hue blooming across his cheeks like they’re roses in bloom. yoichi chews on his lower lip nervously before shoving the right bud of the headphones back into your ear. “just say you like me back ‘nd we’ll leave it at that for now, okay?” he mumbles like a teenager, very much unlike the confident, cocky isagi who everyone fears on the pitch.

wisps of a grin tug at the corners of your lips as you reach out and grab his larger hand with yours — giving it a squeeze. “alright then, yoichi,” you say, leaning over to kiss the warmth of his cheeks. “i like you too.” his eyes go wide.

this is all silly and new for the both of you — having been in love with one another for years without saying. you’ll have a lot to talk about once you reach his parents’ house, how you’ll make this work with his soccer career and your new life in the big city, what you want this to be, who you’ll tell. but for now you try not to dwell on it, letting your head flop to isagi’s shoulder and his on top of yours, sharing headphones and listening to songs that made him fall in love with you.

and Lando can't decide between crying bc he misses his pushover Oscar or teaching the kid a lesson about his role in their team, or begging Oscar to direct his boyish flirtations to him instead of Charles who's always been unthinkingly nice to every rookie But Lando (extra salt in the wound) (Oscar's doing it on purpose to see how far he can push Lando before Lando does something about it.) I just imagine '20 Oscar to be much more conniving with the knowledge that Lando's kinda a mess about him. midas wasn't the best student, but did once really enjoy reading a classic fairy tale where the hero escaped every sticky situation by being clever and cunning. on the following reading comprehension test, midas scored a C equivalent.

lounging. i'm talking reclined. i'm talking mixed drink. i'm talking sunglasses. i'm talking pillows. midas will drape itself over anything ngl

most of the time, midas is going bare-clawed. occasionally has worn something similar to spats as an accessory (that he constructed himself!)

HOT. Midas Loves warm sunny weather. Sunbathing is the chillest they can be. A close 2nd is WET. Its a bog beast at heart.

Midas sleeps crunched up into a horrid little ball. Tail curled up and everything. He has made an effort to sleep artfully on his side with others around but it's not restful. Also? A pillow cuddler.

Midas' notes in their workspace back home. It's on anything. Random scraps of paper that will have a phone number on one side, a clothing alteration sketch on the other. It's a mess.

As a lizardling, baby Midas was enamoured with a popular triton action hero. Many underwater swimming activities became games of pretend.

22. role model?

In Midas' village, it was common to be raised by anyone who had time, not just whoever your biological parents were. His favourite parental figure was a very old brown lizardfolk, a seamstress. She had quick sharp fingers, and bright eyes, even in age. He used to help model for her as a young thing, and she always had praise for him. Mostly, they always heard nothing but positive things when others spoke of her.

23. strange habits?

Aside from the issues? Midas has a habit of rubbing the fabric of its clothing between its claws. Unfortunately this occasionally will create snags and holes in the fabric, so its a habit Midas is trying to kick. He also has the hometown habit of just eating anything raw. Like fishtank fish.

They have a propensity towards wearing dark blue jewels, and claims to love sapphire. It's azurite though.

my thoughts in a nutshell: "oh no hes just like me fr"

ok i dont really review books or anything, thats my friend's job (cheeky promo alana_the_bibliophile on instagram) nah yeah but this one was just so good.

firstly, as a neurodiverse bi trans dude i related so hard to Malcom (the main character) with the overloads and insecurities and just everything. i may or may not have to get this entire transcript tattooed upon my person cos it just hits so close to home in places i didnt even realise until the book brought them to my attention.

like the whole thing about Malcolm not going after things that will make him happy (Peter) just cause he feels like hes so fucked up ± messing something up on purpose before you can mess it up by accident vibes. i literally said (in a squidward impression cos that is important information) "oh no hes just like me for real" out loud on a bus (but it was a loud bus so no one heard) (hopefully). also another thing, Peter telling Malcolm about his auDHD and what he likes + dislikes about sensory stuff. and Malcolm believing and respecting him. i just. its such wish fulfilment. that along with the rest of the story, its all just wish fulfilment. having multiple queer and neurodiverse friends that help you when youre struggling and will beat up your unsupportive family members. (also having a dude think youre hot. wouldnt mind)

secondly, it was just a good read. like i really enjoyed reading it, which hasnt happened for a while. it made me smile and laugh in public (which i never do). fr i was having a giggle on the bus, in class, in doctors waiting rooms, everything. i actually looked forward to reading it as well and i had to trudge through other stuff just so i could get back to it.

lowkey gives love simon vibes (from what i remember of the book when i read it in like 2018), just chock full of natural and believable sounding dialogue and references to things im sure ill actually like. (in my notes app on my old phone i went through the book and wrote down all the references made in love simon and it was pretty extensive (and now i have to do this for this book. oh no guess ill have to read it again oh this is so sad whelp better start now see ya)).

and like the friendship between the characters, the dialogue never felt too forced and they talked like actual people id talk to. swearing at and bullying your friends is a love language and it was done pretty well in this, and also the sending of memes being like an important step in a friendship is too real. also the revival of interest in records, my cousins poor bank account is a testament to that being relatable.

thirdly, the story. we got enemies to friends to lovers, we got 'there was only one bed', we got a road trip, we got a sickfic, and so much more and you know that i ate it up every time.

that as well as the epic highs and lows of making friends in your 20s (lol).

the book follows Malcolm slowly becoming friends with this irl dude Peter while falling for this 'mysterious' radio host Rebo, with his friends supporting him the whole time.

like i dont really go for romantic style stories but this was just so good (but then again ive barely read anything since back when i used to inhale books at like age 12) + the chemistry between Malcolm and Peter was just chefs kiss so good man.

also, the name Goby (one of his friends) kinda got me tho ngl, gobby is australian slang for… something, and i got a jump scare whenever they showed up lol.

Edit: they Goby on my Gumby till I Cheese. I'm so fucking sorry I had to write that down I couldn't get to sleep.

the only bad thing about the book (not that its bad bad, just like if i had to pick something) would be that the ending was made out of like 3 epilogues with indeterminable time skips between them. unless i missed something idk. im just more about the 'the characters kept on living' kinda ending, less 'albus serverus potter' style stuff, not that it was even like that tho.

but also wanting to own and run an incredibly specific cafe+store with your partner is just so fucking gay. oh my god. fanfiction shit right there /pos.

lastly, i haven't read heaps of books in the last couple years, preferring movies and shows more than my childhood self who lived in books series, almost like i didnt like reality or something (unthinkable ik)(i literally had this printed out and hung on my wall)(and on me liking movies more, thats a whole nother fucking topic and a half so ill complain about it in another post)(but anyway).

like honestly, i think that i might get back into reading, even though i forgot how many hours just fly by when i read, cos this was just great. (dont tell my mum she'll throw a fucking party)(again, different topic).

also admittedly, i did sotra kinda maybe slightly pirated it and read it off a pdf BUT! cos i like it so much im probably going to buy a physical copy (for almost 40 fucking dollars including shipping Jesus fucking Christ)

my post game analysis:

starting with Ash because that first quarter was just perfect... 20/30 points 14/14 of the first points perfect conversion rate... second q took a bit of a dip but she came back in the 3rd/early forth and i thought it was great... ive personally never doubted her even after the ND game and i think this proves it

Paige/Sarah: i kinda have the same things to say about them both played amazing and paige finally decided to take shots that was amazing to see... paiges 3 pointers also falling + some of sarahs too... but i thought both of them really played well.

Kaitlyn: even though her impact is only sorta shown on stat sheets (8 ast, 5pts) when you watch her vs kk play theres a huge difference.. the biggest one that I see i think ive said it before but she runs the game at a way faster tempo which kinda puts off the defense hence the 30 point first quarter along with practically any time shes on and kk isn't... i feel like kk attempts to slow down the defense by stalling and stuff which is fine to waste clock time but the +/- when kk's on has got to be less that KC...

finally kk, ice, jana: all a hot mess but ice was better than the other two for sure. ice finally had alot less turnovers so props for that the finishing is still questionable but wasn't needed today because of the great 3pt shooting... jana idk what to say again more fouls than points which is wild and you are telling me she played almost 20 min and only had 2 points? same with kk more fouls than points but ill give it to her normally it doesn't happen like this but still... and for the record what is up with everyone wanting to shoot 3s please stick to what you are good at if your name isn't ash, paige, sarah don't do it please (ice, kk)

Morgan/Allie: morgan fouled out i didn't watch most of the 4th so not sure why... i hope though allie gets more min.. and we aren't talking about Q... its really wild she hasn't transfered idk how she even got recruited to uconn which is something i can say about almost 1/4 of this team. well that was long but i think that was a great win and if they continue this esp ash, paige, sarah i think the usc game is ours and the defense today was not bad today ngl

I watched a reading about Harry and his future partners and marriage and it was very interesting lol (yes it was poly open one but he'll be married to one but he'll have more partners besides married one it's for public and him having kids from one person that's the reason .. and rest was a lot of ) there was more on this but I wanted to ask your opinion so far and it was interesting how even that married life is be like ngl and his rules etc 🧐

My opinion is that a lot of people currently in their 20s, 30s and 40s are part of a collective restructuring of different antiquated human structures. That’s why we live in a world where situationships are a thing. Collectively we are exploring what love means, what relationship means, what should and shouldn’t be boundaries in love, etc. So I think people hyper fixate on Harry exploring different relationship dynamics but all of us are doing that, at least everyone I know is. I actually have talked about this with friends a few times. We’re the ones going through the growing pains which is why so many of our dating lives are shit shows. Add to that the collective of men who are rapidly trying to catch-up to meet women on the emotional plane… it’s a hot mess. I don’t necessarily agree it’s his rules lol. He seems to be a very collaborative person and would make sure who he’s with is emotionally fulfilled and good with whatever arrangement they have together, which ultimately is no one’s business to project onto. People want him to be what he’s been painted as this whole time— womanizer/ toy boy—while overlooking the incredibly nuanced and understanding songs he’s written. It’s super weird to me but I’ve accepted some people will see the worst in him because of their own wounding around not feeling good enough. I send them healing.

Okay expanding on this because I can't stop THINKING about it for some reason.

I knew Astarion was a vampire. I noticed the fang marks on his neck before I would have noticed his elf-ears (they were really obvious dark marks when my computer was trying to render him in for the first time), and I knew that I wasn't gonna give him shit for it what with all the *vague noise* going on. I could tell that at some point, the bat was gonna come out of the bag, and I was fairly certain that he would ask to suck the player character's blood at some point- if not in regular gameplay, then in a romance.

But now that it happened, I can't help but.... find him weirdly SEXY now??? Like I wasn't really THAT attracted to him before, I thought he was a fun character with a fun design that I would have fun getting to know, maybe romancing sometime (probably not with this character because that'd be a strange fit, but sometime), but..... I feel like something just CLICKED in my brain? Like I did not expect that scene to be as... shall we say, EROTICALLY CHARGED, as it turned out to be. I didn't expect for the outcome to be him being visibly (and mechanically) happier, and I didn't expect him to just SAUNTER off like that.

And with the Gale magic scene happening just the next day, poor Arvid is having feelings he has never really had in his life (yes I decided that as a cleric he used to be voluntarily celibate until this whole mess- he didn't have to be but he just... was), for TWO PEOPLE NONETHELESS (so far, he's also growing quite emotionaly close with Shadowheart and he's really enjoying Karlach's company as well), and it's really messing him up good.

For the narrative, I'm still leaning towards Gale because he seems like a bit more of a romantic and that scene was adorable (plus when I chose to "focus on this moment" to picture perfect harmony I rolled a fkin nat 20, A SIGN FROM TEMPUS), and it's really sweet to imagine that in such an intimate moment of interconnectedness, the thought of a kiss would just... unintentionally slip into my boy's mind (maybe still riding the high from the feelings Astarion sparked the previous night?) and the resultant mutual embarrassment and awkwardness, but.... I'm feeling all sorts of things here. Partly also that a vampire and a cleric romance could ALSO be really weirdly cute and, ngl, pretty hot.

Poor Arvid has not gotten a proper night's sleep for days now, too busy trying and failing NOT to imagine himself as the sauce in a hot manwich, and boy is that Joe SLOPPY.

Literally like!! Genshin fandom has actually been one of the worse fandom experiences for me, and I think we can blame a lot of it on the game and its translation, but also it’s just so goddamn frustrating at times. That klc post was written before hidden strife but if anything the event further confirmed that their dynamic wasn’t ‘adopted siblings’ (despite eng translation as usual messing up everything including Kaeya’s opinion of their fight) and that Kaeya doesn’t view himself as a Ragnvindr. 

An AU where Kaeya would have been fully adopted could be potentially interesting, actually! Ragbros AU if you will. But for some reason people never really go for all the implications of that - how strongly it would influence Kaeya’s internal conflict and his abandonment issues, how Diluc would change his treatment of Kaeya, how differently another Ragnvindr progeny would be viewed in Mondstadt, would he succeed the Dawn Winery’s business, so many possibilities... But no, they simply take canon klc dynamic and twist it, ignoring all the discrepancies which point to a non-familial relationship. That tag is just one more annoying attempt at censure within fandom spaces, familiar to anyone who ever interpreted fictional relationships as homoerotic before (how dare you tarnish this beautiful brotherly or sisterly bond by your sinful delusions etc etc yawn). And big agree about Hidden Strife letters, they still represent the usual dynamic as is the norm for all those temporary events. But fandom sadly tends to go for extreme interpretations, either the characters totally hate each other or they are secretly totally fine and getting along splendidly... I guess maybe people are getting tired of this kind of one-sided relationship, so they want some kind of resolution one way or another, but I kind of like the place Kaeya and Diluc are in right now. It would be nice to get some more Diluc POV just to confirm whether he cares in a detached way or in a barely suppressed passionate & deep way, and/or if perhaps he does carry some hateful feelings towards Kaeya, but otherwise it’s just a really good starting off point for creating fan content.  Speaking only for myself, but it’s all the more bittersweet that there is a possibility that they won’t reconcile after all, that their paths might diverge, that their ideologies might already be irreconcilable without us knowing, that Diluc maybe doesn’t really care that much after all. With this in mind, positive outcomes such as reconciliation, a romantic relationship or a rekindling of friendship, are so much more impactful.
