My Dearest, Li Jing,
How are you and your wife doing? How are your sons?
I await your reply, my handsome king.
Your most loyal servant,
-🐺
Me and my wife are fine, not that it should be anyone's business.
Jinzha and Muzha are well last I saw them, they're very busy making something of themselves.

Does the li family have any phobias?
And on that topic how does nezha handle MKs arachnophobia? I'm sure it's gotten somewhat better cause of the spider gang, in that he doesn't freak out at the sight of every spider, maybe just the really big and venomous ones.
But I can also see it having also worsened in that rather 50/50 flight or freeze it's now 25/75 freeze or fight. Many a hole in the wall has had to be fixed.
Tw talk about phobias!
Hmmm phobias…
I personally think Jing would have aerophobia. (Technically fear of flying, but I couldn’t find the one that was just the plane itself) He loves Nezha and his little machines, but like he’ll is he gotta get on that death machine. He’d rather drive or go on a boat. Al least with them you gotta chance! (No i’m not projecting)
Azure has Iatrophobia (fear of doctors) to nobody’s suprised. But he ALSO has a phobia of thunder, (Astraphobia) which isn’t too surprising since, yk, cat.
Jinzha has musophobia (fear of mice)! They chewed his clothes one time when he was like, 5. He was never the same.
Muzha would have Dentophobia! (Fear of the dentist) He takes VERY good care of his teeth, and struggles with going to the dentist VERY badly. He only goes if absolutely necessary. (Removing his wisdom teeth was a nightmare)
Nezha, of course, has Iatrophobia (fear of doctors). It’s ironic after finding out Jing was a nurse. He also has trypanophobia (fear of needles). The two thing don’t make a great combo.
Mocha has no phobias. She feels fear like everyone else, but she just… kinda doesn’t have one that bad? She’s an outlier.
Nezha actually takes MK’s arachnophobia very well. He’s not suprised, since it’s so common among mortals and even some celestials. And while Mk has gotten better about Spider Demons, actual spiders are still a big ol’ NOPE for Mk. Nezha found it cute at first… until around the third time he’s had to help replaster and repaint walls from the many spider deaths. He eventually starts setting little traps and stuff, and that seems to keep them at bay. Mk basically worships Nezha for a few days afterward.
(All the Li’s have Atychiphobia (Fear of Failure))

I just love drawing families of fictional characters, its interesting to think of how each sibling would look. I try to make them different from one another but at the same time maintain familial similarities.
Jinzha resembles their mom, Muzha their dad, and Nezha's a good mix of both.
Also get ready with some sibling dynamic rant, mostly relation HCs by me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enough with the parent child dynamic
I want sibling dynamic. Where these three come to terms on what happened between them. Specifically Muzha and Nezha's interaction is the one I want to see.
Tbh those two's fates in the myth reminded me of Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru in Dororo.
Like Nezha and Muzha had so much potential to gain solidarity with each other. Because Jinzha could never relate to them as the ignored or unwanted child. Muzha has that middle child stuggle fr.
Tumblr media
Muzha is the one so eager to gain their fathers favor trying to meet Jinzha's level . Nezha wants nothing from his father so he makes himself worse.
Muzha's frustration with Nezha is that Nezha is rebellious, disrespectful of their dad
Tumblr media
While Nezha's frustration to Muzha is that Muzha is so blinded and always struggling to achieve something so futile. Deep down he hates how Muzha is suffering this way but he wouldnt speak of it. This is why they always at odds.
They should make a movie focusin the Li brothers fr
Other than overusing the actual myths.
Fuck the ending from the original myth, they didnt even consider how the children felt from all the abuse. Not even mention of Muzha's death.
Enough Ao Bing, what about Muzha???
And the moral lesson is just about "respecting elders"?? The story still had so much to wrap up. How can you call this a family if there is some sort of hierarchal system. A family requires empathy to maintain that connection.
Tbh its kinda realistic
Families and siblings can still inflict trauma from each other .And a story based on reconcilation is a good way for this to be about family counselling.
I wanna see the "what ifs". It could be each brothers own story of self healing from the trauma caused on each other.
Maybe Im getting my hopes up too much, but it could be a development for them to forgive, start anew and an opportunity to connect and catch up on what they missed on each other.
Edit:
As for Jinzha he also has his own struggles as the eldest. Keeping up the station as the golden favored and perfect son. But its Asian family dynamics, which means hes in a lot of pressure. But he is mentally and emotionally strong. The brothers always busy on his studies ,future responsibilities and training to be able to spend time together. Their timetables seemed to be planned out to always not meet. Jinzha especially had less freetime. And if he ever came across any of his brothers, it was only one of them never both.
He doesnt mind being a buffer for the other two feuding but it does stress him out that it will never change. But he'll make sure to give time and attention to both of them as much as he can.
Other than keeping up his fathers expectations he also doesnt want to fail as a big brother to them🥺😭
Muzha and Nezha can see his efforts so they do not dare hold anything against him. Muzha still keeps his competitive attitude when Jinzha's around but accepts any offered kindness from Jinzha. While Nezha enjoys his company when he gets the chance.
Tumblr media
Also because I tend to hold on to this little bit of bonding😭🥺🥺Jinzha trying to be the best big bro
Thinking of the contrast in the future where Jinzha was tasked to torture Nezha destroyed me😭😭😭What did Jinzha even feel while he had to do it??
Also here some Nezha with his hair down again

Do you know of a website where a family tree of the gods can be found? Or what gods are related to others?
I can't say that there is one because most gods are just not related. Sure some gods have family relations like Nezha, Erlang, or the Dragons Kings but they are considered more of the expectation than the rule.
I've said this before but how gods work in Chinese mythos is that anyone who cultivates and is able to train under an immortal and maybe perhaps gaining enough merit to go to heaven and get godhood gets to be a god. There are rarely any family relations involved also due to the fact that gods are not allowed to get married or have kids, the Jade Emperor being an expectation to this rule. Sure mortals can live in the lower levels of heaven and have families but they are not gods either. Or that gods had families before they became gods like Nezha's family. Or that they broke the law like Erlang Shen's family.
Needless to say, I would say give up trying to find a family tree since that is too far-fetched between the thousands of different gods and so few being related at all.
But I can say it the biggest known families are the Li Family with Jing Li, Jinzha, Muzha, and Nezha and their mother who most likely passed.
Tumblr media
The Yang family with the sister of the JE being Yuan, Erlang Sheng, Sansheng Mu, and there was Yang Jiao but he passed away and their father passed as well. This makes Erlang Shen the JE's nephew and Sansheng Mu his niece.
Tumblr media
And maybe Jade Emperor and his Daughters like Weaver girl who had a husband and two children but the Jade Emperor and Queen Mother who are to said to have many children so there isn't even a concrete number there, just that there is a lot.
There is also the Main Dragon Kings. The West, South, North, and East King Dragons are all brothers with an off-handed sister mentioned in Xiyouji. East and West Kings seem to have about three sons each and a daughter each as well (not sure about the South or North Kings but most likely children as well) and the Mother Dragon had like nine sons I believe. Not really gods but still a family that are immortal.
Tumblr media
There are definitely a lot more I am just unaware of really. Most legends I know are more stand-alone without any mentions of the family besides mortal parents when they ascend to godhood. There are a few cases I see maybe certain gods being considered brothers and sisters. These are just the ones I really know and I hope that helps a little even if you won't find more family relations.

Ai-Zha:…. I mean maybe we can have fun with this..?
Jinzha: NO WE CANNOT! THE TRIAL AI ZHA! Thank god the Jade Emperor went to visit his wife for a moment-! BUT WHAT IF HE COMES BACK?!
Muzha: Not to mention father has other duties to attend to!
Nezha: Other duties like all of us do, so I’ll be off…
Muzha grabs Nezha’s sash: Oh no you don’t!
Nezha: Okay.

Tbh, Lady Yin wasn’t the best to Nezha either. She exclaimed to him that she wished she’d never given birth to him after she found out he killed Ao Bing and only built Nezha a shrine after he threatened to haunt her. She seemed much more fixated on how useful Nezha was to bring herself pride then about his well-being or correcting his behaviour. Also in jttw she is mentioned by both Muzha and Li Jing to still be alive and living with them even after Wukong was freed from the mountain.

Do you have any headcanons about Nezha's mom/brothers ages? You mentioned Yun'er in Second Wife to be the same age as Jinzha 👁️👄👁️
Oop I forgot I hadn't left it in my notes
Yin Wuming, Nezha's mom, is 15 when she first marries Li Jing who's in his 40s, I think? She has Jinzha the same year, and is 16 when she has Muzha (one year later), so Muzha and Jinzha's age gap is one year apart. When she has Nezha, she's 21!
So when Yun'er marries Li Jing (who's supposed to be 50-60s), Wuming is 33, and Jinzha and Yun'er are the same age (18).
With Li Jing, since he's described as an immortal, I kinda didn't focus much on his age....but he's an old bitch lmfao 💀
In my Yin Wuming lives AU, the age gap between Jinzha, Muzha and Nezha are different though. Wuming is still the same age when she marries and has her first son (Jinzha), but I think Jinzha is 12/13 when Muzha comes in, and Muzha is 8/9 when she has Nezha.....
I honestly didn't keep track of the ages in that au...I probably should have

genya genya genya genya tell me about Chinese mythology
Been a long long time since I last studied it so I rather keep myself from saying bullshit. BUT i will NOT keep myself from talking about the three deities that never leaved my brain and who STILL refuses to pay rent!!! The Li brothers!!! (Or as I like to call them the "Heaven'Li brothers" because they're warriors of heaven, get it? i'm soooo funny and clever.)
(tw; mention of sucide, child abuse, murder, fratricide, torture, tentative of patricide and gore.)
SO. Let's start with the oldest!! Li JinZha!! Eldest son of general Li Jing(i despise that man with all my being) and Lady Yin Shi. He is the very definition of golden child and eldest daughter syndrome. He has tons of nicknames, but the most famous are; "Golden Tactician", "Great Crowned Prince" & "First Prince". Like his second brother; MuZha, their "lore" isn't very explained as they're both shadowed by their younger brother; Nezha. What is know about Jinzha is that he's the disciple of Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun, one of the Three Great Immortal. He leaved the Military Fortress of Chentag Pass at an early age to study under his master as it probably happened before NeZha's birth. There's no mention of him in NeZha's life (well it depends, in some versions he is present at his birth) until the fight with their father. When Li Jing was about to kill himself, Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun stoped him and made him hide in a cave (can't remember which one but in Chinese mythology caves always have super fancy name sskjsgdhgsf). When Nezha came to kill his father, Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun imprisoned him with the dragon stake and ordered Jinzha to whip NeZha until Taiyi Zhenren (NeZha's Master) called for his disciple. As I already said, the information on his story are poor (i would die for a show that talks about JinZha's & MuZha's adventures while being away from Chentag Pass) but I can tell you a funny fact about him; he is both god of medicine and exorcism, it's like he had "I'm a doctor but... *process to get a fucking sword*" energy. My interpretation of him is of the oldest child that always has been seen by the "favorite" by his brothers, when in reality he was nothing but a trophy to brag about at parties and was as neglected as the others, but he kept being "perfect" for the sake of still having his father attention. He's also the one trying his best to keep the family together and to avoid another murder. He needs vacation, and a an apology from both his brothers, maybe even a hug from them, and their father burning in hell.
The second is MuZha, his only nickname that I know is "Wooden Scholar". Same as his older brother, he leaved home early to go study under the one and only GuanYin!!! The deity of peace and harmony(GuanYin is shown as having a very unstable gender but i'll refer to her as she/her as she is shown more frequently shown as female in modern representation and to make it easier for myself, but i do believe in nb/genderfluid GuanYin supremacy). As said in his tittle, he is more brains than brawn unlike his brothers (but he is still a fighter, as he's frequently shown with melon hammers and hooks of wu). Same as JinZha, his first know apparition in NeZha's legend is when NeZha wanted to kill Li Jing, MuZha tried to stop him and fought him. And NeZha killed him. You heard me right, the seven years old killed his older brother, and you wanna know with what? With a fucking GOLDEN BRICK. but don't worry, MuZha is later brought back to life. We don't know how though, my theory is that GuanYin made him a new body with wood (I mainly imagine that because it would very funny if his coming back from death mirrored NeZha's, to me at least). My interpretation of him is pretty much of the depressed and nerdy middle child. He's sick of everyone in his family (except his dead mother), especially his brothers' bullshit (JinZha being scarily perfect and NeZha... being NeZha). He was was very loyal to his father pre-death, to the point of being blind to the neglect and abuse he would put him and his brothers in. Post-death he became distant to his bio family, staying with his found family with GuanYin as his parental figure and Red Boy & Longnü as his adoptive little siblings. live yo life nerd boy, live yo life!!
And last but not least, the fucking menace himself!!! NeZha!! Also known as "Third Lotus Prince". I talked so much about him in the past that his part will mainly be a mix of what is already in my notebook app. He's the reincarnation of the Pearl Spirit/Lingzhu. I couldn't find a lot of information on Lingzhu, except that it was a powerful (Lingzhu was stronger than the Twelve Golden Immortals) spirit who probably was a demon (In the same way as Lady Rock Demon of being an "Highly powerful spiritual weapon that is able of turning into a living being aka a demon"). Lingzhu was forced through reincarnation by the Three Pure One (Deities who are more powerful than the Jade Emperor himself). The fact that Nezha is the reincarnation of the Pearl Spirit who's original form is well, a pearl, makes Nezha soulless. You heard, the Third Lotus Prince doesn't have a soul. The Heavenly Realm made Lingzhu reincarnate as the third son of General Li Jing as a gift for the Li family. Nezha is literally a gift from Heaven. His mother, Lady Yin, was pregnant of Nezha during 3 years and six months and giving birth to a meatball from where Nezha will later come out from. Li Jing tried to kill him immediately but stopped. And Tumblr deleted the rest when I tried to save it in my draft I'm genuinely crying so fuck doing storytelling efforts and fuck you Tumblr. NeZha went to the beach, he played with his red tissue that Taiyi gifted him but he didn't know that it was magic and that he was currently causing chaos in the deep of the ocean, where the kingdom of the Dragon King of the east was located. Dragon king send a guard that talked badly to NeZha so NeZha killed him. Dragon King sent his third son and-
You know what sorry anon but I'm too tired I promise I'll update the post soon with the end of the story but I've been writting for two hours and I need to post it or else I'll go crazy xhigixturzruzurx7r.
And here one of my favorite representation of the Li bros!! They're from Fei Ren Zai/Non-Human and they're one of my favs because they're one of the rare and probably the only representation of them having a healthy relationship (and also Li Jing being depicted as the loser incompetent fucker he is.)

Sibling
Summary of Nezha’s relationship with every one of his siblings for this prompt!
(cw/tw for mild mentions of fraticide and beating)
Jinzha (He/him)
The eldest brother of the family, who had helped physically punish Nezha solely under his father’s orders. Immediately after, he had apologised and make sure Nezha was okay. Nezha often used to lash out at him, but Jinzha would always take it as a deserving reaction. Even after fighting together in the war, Nezha often feels tense around him because of his near-unnatural mild-manneredness, and how much of Jinzha is still a mystery to him. However, he respects his eldest brother for his skill and military tactical prowess. In turn, Jinzha is proud of how Nezha has grown into a responsible, diligent young prince.
Muzha (He/him)
Of all his siblings, Nezha used to have the most animosity towards Muzha. After all, he was the first to jump to defend the father that Nezha had loathed so much back then, and in turn, Nezha beaned Muzha over the head with a brick and killed him. After being forced to cooperate in the war, some encouragement from their mother, and bonding over her death- well, they still don’t like each other much. But Nezha feels like Muzha was essentially made to defend his father in ignorance, motivated by blind loyalty. Despite his ultimate failure against Sun Wukong, Muzha ends up respecting Nezha’s commitment toward the Samadhi Map and his many duties. These new understandings brought a sense of peace and comradery to their relationship. Despite all this, Nezha and Muzha will never truly be able to get along, especially given their completely opposite domains- Muzha is a by-the-book scholar studying under Guanyin, while Nezha is a rebellious warrior god.
Zhengying (She/her)
Nezha’s little sister, born long after the war recorded in the Investiture of the Gods. Because of the heavy expectations placed on her to be “not like Nezha”, the incident where she had been mistaken as a demon because of her adoptive sister’s betrayal, and finding out family’s dark past, Zhengying had decided to cut ties with the celestial realm once she was old enough- and as she reached young adulthood, she did. Currently she lives as a mortal and works at a flower shop/cafe hybrid while trying to figure out her future. Despite how Nezha cherishes his younger sister and is protective of her, he respects her space and remains distant, only visiting to check on her discreetly. And though they are not that close, Zhengying greatly appreciates Nezha and wishes the best for him.
Golden-nosed White Mouse Spirit (Earth Flow/Diyong) (She/they)
A demon who wanted to become a Bodhisattva. Nezha’s father was convinced by Nezha to show her mercy because of her intent, and she was so grateful to be left alive that she decided to be sworn into the Li family. She and Nezha used to be the best of friends, bonding over being black sheep outcasts and enjoying causing harmless mischief with the few time they had together. However, during the Journey to the West, she fell in love with Tripataka, and of course did the standard demon thing. When Nezha demanded the reason for her betrayal, she retorted that no one ever truly respected her as an equal. She was just a buttered up prisoner. Currently, she resides in the heavenly dungeon. Nezha sometimes longs for their past bond and visits her, but they often end up throwing stinging words at each other and he never stays for long.

Okay so i have been trying to get info on who longnv is and what her role is jttw because i always see tags and i saw a particular post on tumblr where i was scrolling through the jttw tag and i saw her but when i went to search on the jttw character list she wasnt there so now im like "wait...what?"
So pls if its not much of a hassle can you just pls tell who she is and what her role is in the story cause i have been trying to find stuff about her but end up fruitless
I’m surprised you haven’t found much information about her… She has a Wikipedia page so if you were looking in English, she would’ve come up.
But honestly, she isn’t really referenced in Xiyouji because she doesn’t really have a role in the story besides being an assistant. She’s Guanyin's other disciple besides Muzha but since Muzha is doing all the work, and has all the lines as the go-between got GuanYin and other characters Longvu is only really mentioned in passing standing next to GuanYin in certain scenes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see she IS mentioned but she doesn't SAY anything really.
As for history, she has a whole background of lore in Buddhist mythos as she has a long history. I talked a bit about her here and here when talking about Gaunyin and who she is a bit. So simply to say she’s not really a “character” within the story as she doesn’t have any dialogue or actions, but rather she has a lot of lore surrounding her that just isn’t referenced in Xiyouji as it’s not needed for the narrative. She is still mentioned within the novel just never interacted with! So it’s kind of like the novel references her more so!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Put it simply the most common lore I see about it is that she is the granddaughter of The Dragon King and the daughter of Ao Guang, the same dragon king of the East that Wukong took his staff and armor from and the same dragon king that has his son’s, Ao Bing, spine ruled out by Nezha in his legend. Needless to say, the east dragons have a lot of people messing with them. There are more legends of her that I haven't really gone into but she def has been around for a long time in Buddhist lore.
And Longvu works under Gaunyin and works with Muzha. And I don’t know if you are aware, but Muzha is the older brother of Nezha… so she is working with the sibling of the guy that ripped out her older brother’s spine.
Which I think is hilarious personally.
Also, that would make her Bailong's cousin too!
Small Heavens.
But yeah! We don’t get to see her lot in media. I think I’ve only ever seen a depiction of her when she gets actual lines in the 1999 series where she and Muzha interact with Red Boy when Gaunyin comes to recruit him. Also in Fei Ren Zai Non Human! I haven’t read all or watch that series yet but I know she is depicted quite often there as well with Gaunyin and Muzha and Red Boy (now Shancai). Also possible in the Nezha tv series from the early 2000s? Haven’t seen that one, but I do know there is a Dragon Girl that he befriends in the series!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If anytime knows more media she is in please chime in!!
So it’s no trouble at all!! She has more lore outside Xiyouji so I would suggest looking beyond that scope!
Here are some links to help you read about her! I hope this helps!

is “Muzha” & “moska” the same person?
I've seen disagreements about this topic, even tho I do believe they are the same.
Yes, they are the same person. Mokṣa is just a translation for Mucha/zha (木叉/吒). For instance, the title of chapter 22 reads:
Eight Rules fights fiercely at the Flowing-Sand River; Mokṣa by order receives Wujing's submission (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 1, p. 421). 八戒大戰流沙河 木叉奉法收悟淨
You'll notice that the Chinese version uses Mucha (木叉). Another name for Mucha is Hui'an (惠岸). Both are mentioned in the end of chapter 22:
The Bodhisattva immediately called for Hui'an. Taking a little red gourd from her sleeves, she handed it over to him, saying, "Take this gourd and go with Sun Wukong to the Flowing-Sand River. Call 'Wujing,' and he'll come out at once. You must first take him to submit to the Tang Monk ..." 菩薩即喚惠岸,袖中取出一個紅葫蘆兒,吩咐道:「你可將此葫蘆,同孫悟空到流沙河水面上,只叫『悟淨』,他就出來了。先要引他歸依了唐僧。
[...] In a little while the two of them lowered their clouds and arrived at the Flowing-Sand River. Recognizing the disciple Mokṣa, Zhu Eight Rules led his master to receive him (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 1, pp. 431-432) 他兩個不多時,按落雲頭,早來到流沙河岸。豬八戒認得是木叉行者,引師父上前迎接。
I hope this helps.

Azure certainly doesn't complain about any of Li Jing's bodily changes. ;3 He still has the biggest chest in the house.
Baby Mocha be like a kitten who is constantly getting into trouble, but Li Jing thinks she can do no wrong! (Forgive him. Baby Nezha gave him low standards for behavior.)
Nezha posts Mocha's misadventures like a pet owner shaming their cat;
Tumblr media
MK: "Why is your weapon-ribbon thing-y all ripped up?"
Nezha, tired-looking: "Mocha has discovered her claws."
Mocha, has ribbon in her paws: "Mew!"
The Queen Mother of the West/Xiwangmu isn't any better than Li Jing. Even if the cub isn't *technically* her blood relative, Mocha is too darn adorable to be mad at for long. The Queen Mother being a fellow celestial big cat (and Azure being terrified of her) probably has something to with it.
Lionsword baby aint giving Li Jing peace and quiet neither. He thinks a girl would be easier than raising the boys? Big mistake.
Imagine a baby Nezha who can climb trees and an instinctive urge to chase small animals
Oh gawd yes! 😂
Li Jing truely thought that he would have a semi normal baby. Nope!
She looked like Jing enough, but was covered in black fur and had Azures purple eyes! So looked so innocent!…. Until Jing realized that she may have gotten the looks from him, but she got the instincts from azure.
Baby Mocha has a big appetite, and is constantly feeding on Jing’s chest (gave the man a heart attack when he started producing MILK of all things-!) and her little fangs aren’t exactly soft.
She chirps as well. She cries like a normal baby of course, but for the most part she communicates through growls, chirps, and chuffs.
And lions love to instinctively stalk and pounce, so the minute she’s of moving age? Attack!!! No ankles or calf’s are safe from her little fangs!
She especially loves Nezha’s fire rings, constantly chewing them and his staff, and leaving slobber all over it. Nezha, newly minted big bro and second middle child, hates it.
Nezha: “Daaaaad! Mocha chewed my rings again!”
Jing, tiredly bouncing a giggling Cub: “Nezha, she’s a baby, she can’t help it.”
Muzha and Jinzha laugh in revenge.
