Being a music creative today is different from what you think.

I was in my studio thinking about that… Being a music creative today is no anymore what I thought it was years ago.

The music industry has changed dramatically in the past ten years. 

-

Music creatives today are expected to have a broader range of skills beyond just music.

-

I have been a creative music professional since 1993, and I know that in the past, it was enough for a musician to be a talented artist, but today is no anymore like that.

On a scale of 1 to 10, our creative music skill is no longer in the first position.

To keep alive our existence in the industry, we must compromise our goal of creating music with a bunch of extra content and know many skills that, most of the time, have nothing to do with music, such as video editing, graphic post-production, and use of the online tools and platforms to managing our websites and all the dynamic content.

Achieving success in music today requires more than ever, discipline and consistency at the core. We must be willing to work hard and be dedicated to creating great music and promoting ourselves effectively. We also need to be patient and persistent. Building a successful career in music takes time, and there will be setbacks along the way. 

But if we embrace the advance of technology and use it to our advantage, helping us acquire all the required new skills, and with the addition of passion, drive, and talent, we will achieve our dreams…
