I count myself among the few, the proud, the Sannan loyalists. <3
Also I am just dipping my toe into hakumyu... it's fantastic that it just exists (annnnd now with my favorite route) even if I'm too much of a noob to do more than find photos and gifs so far.
This is the closest I have ever gotten to understanding my kpop friends, except kpop is getting huge in my part of the world, and musicals based on my favorite otome game are not. XD

I watched Shinkai Hijikata-hen ^_^ And for the last few days I rewatched the scene where Kondou trains Chizuru a bit too many times. Because it's funny and adorable and I love the Shiekan training song that follows the scene.
I honestly thought I wouldn't be particularly into newer Hakumyus since, to quote Saito, I believe in things that don't change, and I didn't think anything could reach the same level as good old Yaisa!³ for me but I was very pleasantly surprised. I very dearly recommend watching it.

"i want to give my blood and follow in your shadow."
i felt the need to doodle this scene from sannan-san hakumyu because like... it's just so endearing? shion's chizuru really captures the wholehearted dedicated pining she has for him in his route (i mean, you really gotta CHASE this man). honestly she's in top three of my favorite chizurus. and of course, teruma's sannan-san really did grow on me. i was used to mikata's sannan-san (since i'm a hakumyu boomer), but i adore both their portrayals and voices.
haven't drawn hakuouki in a hot minute, but it'll always have a special place in my heart.
#sannan keisuke#yukimura chizuru#hakuouki#hakumyu#sanchi#salmon arts#riri arts#honestly i could draw more from this musical but i chose the scene that isn't in the game but is unique to the performance#it was just... so good#i will say romance wise i felt it more from shion!chizuru than teruma!sannan-san but#it kinda fit the vibes#context so for some reason i've been just decided to keep playing the hakumyus in the background while i draw#i have looped sannan-san's hakumyu arc a billion times at this point#i still really do miss the original hakumyu cast members but the new ones have kinda grown on me#and in any case i have rewatched the older ones a lot too lmao#kazama-hen (first one) and heisuke-hen will always be my favorites#character wise sannan-san is still my bias tho lmao#well you already knew that if you've followed me for a while i'm just rambling for anyone new#anyway that's it i took a break to draw this scene because i felt the URGE#tsukikage no shou localization when?

I waited so long for Hakuouki newest game, Tenun, even though I can't understand Japanese, but I was still so excited because there are fans who translate it to English. However, I realized that the routes are not really that long. Actually, the routes are short, in my opinion, and I'm disappointed.

So I've made an Alter version of Corridor of Memories. The original arrangement I found was by Lamento96, I just added a different flute part, two shamisen, and a piano to refer to the original song. I'm still figuring out Haruka's theme and I am sad that I have no access to Taiko drums in Musescore 4. If it's a little loud, sorry, still figuring out Musescore 4 and how it works. (Much more familiar with 3)

I am listening all Elisabeth das Musical OST again and I remember that I have A ALL ESSAY about how the lyrics can fit Hakuouki and Shinsengumi boys. Or that I have an AU with Lady Death following their paths because she loves them so much and want them for her...so I am fangirling and dying more over their death now.
Oh and Wenn ich tanzen will but between Lady Death (Der Todd) and Hijikata (Elisabeth) and I would love having skills to draw them.

I noticed that some recent promo videos (from 2022) for Hakumyu have the plot synopsis onscreen in both Japanese and English. Does anyone know if the official DVDs of those recent shows have English subtitles?

wait sorry i just remembered the hakuouki opening and ending theme song collection cd releases... when your otome game has enough theme songs across all its re-releases and spinoffs to fill up two separate 2 disc cd music collections you KNOW you really got the skyrim of otome games <3
#im not hating i think this is funny as hell and kinda rules. i never finished hakuoki though. someday i will#i was playing it on. 3ds. hakuoki is on every platform on existence and it will be on more by the time i finish typing this sentence#but i still somehow ended up starting it on the least optimal platform <3 it wasnt bad but wowza. the crunch...#i had fun tho. i hadnt even finished the common route cause its a long one but it was fun. i liked heisuke hes silly#i should go back to it someday. someday. (piles of unplayed and half played video games bury me in an avalanche and i pass away)#edit: wait omg wotamin did the vocals for one of the ending songs on one of the ps3 games thats neat

Hi again....I know maybe you've done this before, but can I ask why do you love Yatagarasu? What made this series special to you (like a little love letter to Yatagarasu)...?
Also, can I ask your top 10 (or top 5) favorite characters from any media (manga/anime, books, tv series, movies, games, etc)? Why do you love them? Sorry if I ask too much.....
I've got acquainted with Yatagarasu first as novel series, and have already read three first volumes (translated in Russian) before watching the anime adaptation. I continued to read further while watching, and was overjoyed when I discovered that they decided to adapt vol. 3 too, besides 1 and 2. I love these books for their solid and captivating story with good plot twists, combined with a realistic and heartfelt portrayal of the characters and their actions and thoughts. Also, I like Yatagarasu as a fantasy with Heian historical vibes and Japanese folklore motifs , with the gradual disclosure of the local mysterious world up to its interaction with our modernity. Some say that the style of Yatagarasu novels is rater dry and down-to-earth, but I did not notice it, maybe due to an excellent Russian translation done by an Associate Professor of Japanese from Moscow State Lomonosov University. The anime adaptation of Chisato Abe's books was also very successful. I liked, first of all, the work of the writers and directors, their treatment of the literary source material, and especially the fact that they included not only the main plot of the books, but also information from additional gaiden stories. Secondly, the character designs and music perfectly convey the atmosphere of the novels, which is exactly how I felt when I read them.
My top-5 of anime characters:
5- Seimei from Garo: Guren no Tsuki
4- Shouryuu from Juuni Kokuki
3- Nagakura Shinpachi from Hakuouki
2- Daryun from Arslan Senki TV
1- Balsa from Seirei no Moribito

English Translation of CanCam's article
2.5-dimensional handsome actor Shohei Hashimoto perfectly recreates the role of the “love is too heavy” killer! What is the popular manga “Hotaru no Yomeiri”?
``Firefly's Wedding'' is the latest work by Oreko Tachibana, the author of the manga ``Promise Cinderella,'' which was made into a live-action film by Fumi Nikaido and Atsushi Maeda, and became a hot topic of conversation (currently being serialized in ``Manga One''). In this work, the heroine's partner, the assassin Shinpei, became a hot topic, saying that ``love is too heavy,'' and the first volume was decided to be urgently reprinted as soon as it was released! To commemorate the release of Volume 2, the popular character Shinpei has been perfectly recreated by 2.5D actor Shohei Hashimoto. Mr. Hashimoto has appeared in many Japanese-style productions such as the musical ``Hakuouki'' and the stage play ``Touken Ranbu,'' and is a manga lover who even wrote the original story himself. We will also introduce recommended points of "Firefly's Wedding" as well as photos taken of Shinpei in Japanese clothes ♡
The time is the Meiji era. Satoko Kirigaya, the daughter of a count, is blessed with both her family name and beauty, but it has been declared that she has only a short time left to live, and her only dream is to marry in a way that will benefit her family. Meanwhile, Satoko's life is suddenly targeted by a mysterious killer, and in order to survive, she proposes to the killer, Shinpei Goto, ``Please marry me.'' It was supposed to be a one-off lie, but Shinpei is a man with a lot of love...
Q: ──I'm sure you're used to wearing Japanese clothes on stage, but what did you think of wearing a kimono inspired by Shinpei?
A: It's been a while since I've worn a kimono like this (a kimono without a haori, simply tying an obi), so I was very happy, and there's something exciting about photographing kimonos. This time, I was playing the role of a killer, so I had a lot of fun filming it, thinking that I shouldn't let my excitement show too much.
Q: ──You showed off various facial expressions and postures, but what points did you pay attention to in order to bring out Shinpei's uniqueness?
A: I was struck by the way Shinpei-kun's head is tilted, as if he's relaxed and relaxed, so I kept this atmosphere in mind when designing his stance. The rest is the eyes. In fact, before filming, the author, Tachibana Oreko, gave me this advice to my editor: ``Anyway, I hope you give me dead eyes...''
Q:──Mr. Hashimoto, what impressions did you have when you read “Hotaru no Yomeiri”?
A: I thought it was going to be a girls' manga as a genre, but there are scenes where people are cut with swords and it's surprisingly cruel, so it's different from the girls' manga I had imagined! I was surprised with. Because of the battle scenes, it's very easy to read even for someone like me who came from a youth magazine. Of course, it's about the love story between Satoko and Shinpei, but it also has suspense elements like who orchestrated Satoko's kidnapping in the first place, so I think it's a fun manga to explore.
Q:──What scene in particular captured your heart because of the beauty of the painting?
A: The scene where Shinpei-kun and Satsuko-san watch fireflies together. I especially love the scene in Volume 2 where Shinpei-kun releases fireflies into Satsuko-san's room. Another unforgettable scene is the scene where the two kiss for the first time. There are many people lying around who were killed by Shinpei-kun, and the two figures are reflected in the pool of blood. Although the situation is cruel, it is a very nice expression and I think it is beautiful. It's so fascinating that you can't help but look into every corner of it.
Q: ──Mr. Hashimoto, what kind of character did you think of Shinpei?
A: At first, you get the strong impression that Shinpei-kun is kind of a "dangerous person," but as you read on, you'll find that he's surprisingly cute. I thought this gap made him a really fun character. For example, the scene at the beginning where Satoko is saved from a villain while she is locked up in a prison. He escapes by jumping off a tall building, and I really like his poignant expression. He even makes an expression like this! (laughs) After all, love is heavy! Looking at Shinpei-kun makes me think that love and madness may be a thin line.
Q: Mr. Hashimoto, you sometimes demonstrate your swordsmanship on stage, but what impression did you get of Shinpei's sword technique?
A; This first sword line is depicted in the scene where Shinpei-kun saves Satsuko-san. I really like his style of cutting with his legs wide open. In the case of kimono, there is a style of slashing without showing your legs, but when I played Hajime Saito in ``Hakuoki'', I also slashed with my legs wide open. Also, although Shinpei-kun looks rough, he has a surprisingly delicate expression on his sword. For example, this sword technique that involves returning the sword in a detailed manner. It gives the impression of a mixture of movement and stillness.
Q: ──If ``Hotaru no Yomeiri'' were ever made into a stage play and Mr. Hashimoto was chosen to play Shinpei, how would you like to play him?
A; I want to firmly express Shinpei-kun's dual nature. Shinpei-kun may be saying what he really means, but if you look at him from the outside, you can't see the bottom of his heart. I would like to act with this in mind.

wait what part of the drama are u referring to in your last post?
Hello my dear anon!
I am referring to the second episode of the drama Hakuouki Sweet School Life (2015).
Since you made me suffer a little and watch this episode, I'll tell you some statistics:
Kazama in this episode fully pronounced the word sapuraizu 12 times. Amagiri repeated this 6 times and once Shiranui said it irritably so that they would calm down.
in fact, this dorama is hilariously stupid, just look at how Kazama's office is decorated!
I think this scenes is especially funny, in fact, it's worth watching it yourself. I laughed out loud at these moments.
AND FOR ALL THOSE who think that Kazama is not a realistic character, I will tell a real-life story.
the brother of my close friend wanted to secretly propose to his girlfriend (they were already living together). to find out the size of her finger, he put her rings on his fingers at night while she was sleeping. the size was perfect for his little finger. but for some reason he got confused and was sure that the ring fit his index finger. and even the doubts of the woman at the checkout in the store did not convince him.
in the end, when he put the ring on her finger, it immediately slipped off her, because it was too big.
SO — I love ssl Kazama, I think he is an incredible character. it's just a pity that he doesn't have a OST in the dorama with classical music like in the game.

Exploring videos that replace Touken Ranbu's music with Hakuoki's Hanamaru version 🌸🌸🌸
Personally, I found that some of Aika's songs fit some of the Hanamaru endings better than the original ones. Since some of the imagery of the EDs is so melancholic while the song is so upbeat just didn't seem to fit very well together
Song List (with links)
Hanamaru Opening = Hakuouki Yuugiroku DS Opening
Kashuu and Yasusada's ED = Hakuouki Zuisouroku PS Vita ED
Oda-gumi ED = Hakuouki Movie 2 ED
Toushirou Siblings ED = Hakuouki Zuisouroku PSP ED
Kane-san & Horikawa ED = Hakuouki Reimeiroku PS3 OP
Mikazuki Munechika ED = Hakuouki Zuisouroku PS2 ED
Otegine ED = Hakuouki Yuugiroku 2 OP
Nikkari Aoe ED = Hakuouki Kyoto Winds ED
Imanotsurugi & Iwatooshi ED = Hakuouki Kyoukaroku PS Vita ED
Rai siblings ED = Hakuouki Yuugiroku ED
Yamatonokami Yasusada ED = Hakuouki Anime OP 1
Yasusada leaves for Kiwame = Hakuouki Kaikoroku iOS/Android OP
Hanamaru season Finale ED = Hakuouki Yuugiroku DS Opening
My personal favorites are the Toshirou siblings, Mikazuki's and Kashuu, and Yasusada's ED.
The song in the Toushirou siblings' ending fits with the imagery really well and highlights really well how much the siblings miss Ichi-nii.
The song for Mikazuki's ending is called Sora no Kagami meaning "Mirror of the Sky" or "Sky's Mirror". There is a lot of reflection and night sky imagery in Mikazuki's ending and it honestly fits so perfectly together. 🌙
The song for Kashuu and Yasusada's ending talks about destiny and being born to meet. Souji in Tsukikage talks about destined swords for a samurai and how he wanted Yasusada because he felt that Yasusada was his destined sword. Also when the music swells into that guitar rift and shows Yasusada standing proud with the sakura petals falling around him, leaves such an impact. ❤
also yeah...the person who made the video didn't know how to edit out the Tourabu OST during the scene where they fight the Keiibishi before replacing it with the Hakuouki OST. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ eh, it is what it is
which one is your favorite? \( ̄︶ ̄*\))
