While one could say that money didn't buy happiness, they sure as hell could not deny that it brought comfort. Many people struggled through jobs that paid little nothing, some give up their dreams to pursue carriers they knew they would loathe. And some, took the illegal route when it came to making money. Jane Kennedy was one of those people. Growing up in the poorer part of the city, Jane knew what it was like to struggle through the day, without food or water. The blonde wanted to get out of there, get her sister out of there as well.

Her crew consisted of a few individuals. David Rothschild, her bodyguard, enforcer and occasional lover. Lewis Cavanaugh and Holiday Lewis, who served as her Consiglieri and Caporegime. They were also married, and disgustingly cute. Last but certainly not least, there was Lucas Rourke. Lucas Rourke was the group's cleaner. Lucas made sure that none of David's escapades get found out. A man with a bloody past, rightfully carrying the title of serial killer.

Tonight was a night like no other. Jane was hosting a party in her mansion. Businessmen, bankers, heirs and heiresses mingled together. Jane wore a black dress that hugged her curves and gloves that went up to her elbows. Lewis stepped towards her, pulling her in and whispering something in her ear. "David wants to talk to you. They took some guy down to the basement." The dark haired man than excused himself to be with his wife. Jane cast a glance to Holiday, their eyes met. Whatever was happening, it was serious.

Jane excused herself from the crowd and made her way down to the basement discreetly. Down a hall she went, before meeting with large iron door. She knocked. "It's me. Open up." Jane ordered, and a few seconds later, Lucas opened the door for her. Lucas than stalked back to the wall, leaning against it and staying in the sidelines. "What's going on?" The blonde asked, eyes landing on David who was standing inches away from a body on the floor. The man was still flinching, meaning that he was still alive despite his state. "Who is he?"

Jane was living the sweet life. Or eternal life, would be more correct. She was the leading actress in Hollywood, she was was America's sweetheart. The blonde bombshell that could play the timid protagonist or the conniving femme fatale. She was a director's dream. So why was she so fucking miserable? Right. She was cursed with eternal life. Some might think it would be a blessing, she thought so as well. But the more years passed, the more miserable she became. The money, the drugs, the sex provided some comfort, but Jane knew she could never truly be normal.

Jane swirled the cigarette between her fingers. She was in her home, in the bustling city of LA. It was a long night of award shows, of which she didn't win any. She lost to Jane Fonda, and honestly, the blonde was not upset by it...much. She heard the door open to her living room, the actress sighed. "Harry, I told you I'm really-" Jane froze. It wasn't Harry who was staring back at her. It was David. Her sire, the vampire who created her.

"Who the fuck let you in?" Jane seethed. She hated those eyes that stayed on her. The eyes that stared down at her as she laid dying, only too look at her again when she awoke reborn. They had a haunting aura, one that tended to follow the actress.

"Get off!" Jane tried to move away from his grip, her words spoken through sobs. She was full on crying now, hot tears ran down her face. It was embarrassing, but it could not be stopped. The blonde hid her face in his chest, hands now gripping the fabric of his shirt as if her life depended on it. The last months had been more taxing than she liked to admit. Perhaps this was finally where her resolve broke, weakened by months of exhaustion and abuse. Was it stupid to believe that Oscar cared enough to get her out? To perhaps marry her and take care of her? Love her?

Her sobs died down to small sniffles, yet tears still streamed down her face. She looked up at him now, eyes half-lid and red. "What happened? What did you do!?" Jane gave him one last slap on the arm. "What do you mean, you didn't have a choice?" She wanted answers, and she would get them. Her anger had died down, like a candle eating away it's last bit of wax and putting the fire out. Without thinking, she grabbed either side of his face and pressed a kiss upon his lips. It was a heavy kiss, filled with months of longing. One thing was clear, Jane missed him.

"Either you tell me what happened, or there's the door." The blonde tilted her head to the right as she spoke, but her hands rested on his chest.

oscar stood there, his body tense as jane’s hands collided with his chest. each shove was like a punch, not because of the physical force, but because of the pain in her eyes, the anger spilling out in every tear she had tried so hard to hold back. he didn’t move, didn’t try to stop her—he deserved this. He knew he did. the words she threw at him cut deeper than any shove or slap ever could, and each one sent a ripple of guilt through his already fractured heart. he could see the toll these months had taken on her—the exhaustion, the paranoia, the constant fear she had been living in. george had done that to her. oscar’s disappearance had done that to her. the chaos of the world they were caught up in had turned her life upside down, and now, here she was, standing in front of him, breaking under the weight of everything she had been forced to endure. "i know," oscar muttered quietly, his voice rough with regret as her sobs filled the room. "i know you’ve been through hell." he could feel her fists hitting him, not enough to hurt physically, but it was the emotional impact that made him stagger inside. her anger and her tears were more than he had prepared for, and seeing her like this—raw, vulnerable, devastated—made him feel like the lowest kind of man. "i never wanted this for you," oscar said softly, his voice barely a whisper now. "i never wanted to leave you like that. but i didn’t have a choice."

as jane's fists collided with oscar’s chest, her sobs breaking through the anger, oscar did the only thing he could think of. he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close despite the punches. her anger drove her to push him away, to hit him again, but he held firm. he didn’t tighten his grip, just enough to stop her from hurting herself—enough to hold her steady in the middle of the storm.

To most, Jane was the goddess of wisdom of war. The protector of soldiers on the battlefield, and their families back home. To others, she was the goddess of discord with a temper fit to scare the king of the gods himself. Jane did not mind the nicknames and the titles, for the most part. One soldier in particular caught her eyes. When he first arrived in her temple, seeking guidance on his first battle, the goddess was intrigued. As the years passed, he continued to show his devotion. Dare she say, she thought she was in love. Goddesses and mortals? How silly...but was it?

She found herself waiting for Fernando to ask something of her, she made sure he returned from his battles each and every time. Blessed him and helped him when she could. Werther or not it was love, the goddess cared for this mortal.

"You're gratitude is always refreshing, Fernando." The goddess was now looking down at him, a gentle smile on her face. Jane had given herself a more humanly form. Her flesh was soft, her blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders and all the way to the middle of her back. Her body was draped in a long white robe, with a gold belt at the waist.

"You may rise now, my sweet." The goddess instructed. She moved back, taking a seat next to the fire. In this human form of hers, she could feel all different sensations, such as the warmth prickly at her skin. "Come, sit. You must rest, if you wish to return tomorrow."

Leaves rustle in the dark night. Dense piles of mud slop under the staggered trudging of the knight's boots. It's been a few days since he's seen a brother in arms. The war between the north and west have not proven fruitful for either side, yet a war continues to rage on. Fernando was a lowly soldier fighting for the west. His life was given to protect its people and his Goddess, the woman who watched over him and his family for generations.

While he moved through the thick woods, he held firm on the grip of his horse's lead. "We'll rest soon, scarlett." He promises, patting the horse's mane. She had been through a lot—he figured it was best to let her walk without his weight pulling her to the earth.

The only light leading him was the moon, which he always assumed was the light from his Goddess guiding him to safety. Her wisdom was inspiring and gracious, as always. In the distance was an abandoned hut. Moss, vines, and weeds, have taken over the structure. Different symbols and runes were scattered about, giving Fernando the impression that a witch must've lived here not long ago. Once he makes it past the rotting door, he sees a small fire pit. He had hurried far from the battle field and was surely close to his own kingdom now. It was safe to light a fire, for the smoke wouldn't alert any enemies.

The fire is set and he rushes out to feed and give Scarlett some water, before drinking some of the water himself. Warmth begins to fill the hut and he enters the small structure once more. Before he eats, he gets on his knees and prays—which he always tends to do before doing anything. "Lady Jane," When he speaks, his heart swells. He never loved anyone or anything, like he loved his Goddess. "Bless me with rest and safe passage back home tomorrow. I know you'll guide me. I am eternally grateful for you and your wisdom." // @sxrcerxss

The smell of blood was hard on the vampire. The consequences of her choosing to keep a grip on a piece of her humanity, which were getting harder and harder to handle. From what she knew, the lack of sustenance could cause a vampire to go berserk, and while Jane was aware of that fact, she simply would not allow herself to bite into someone.

As Jane continued to press the handkerchief in front of her mouth, her brown eyes fell on the corpse. "Is that...Tony?" Jane's voice laced with disbelief. The sight of his severed head was haunting, the lifeless body as well. The blonde rolled her eyes at the vampire's words. "Smartass." The woman seethed. Jane took a step back, because if she did not she would surely loose grip.

"What happened?" Antonio Argento was a friend of theirs once upon a time, but as time went by the man became more and more greedy as well as a complete douche bag. "And why the hell did you bring him here?"

Jane, unlike a lot of people she socialized around, did not understand the need to ban alcohol. It was a vice everyone indulged in, from the low life criminal to the respected reverend. It was they, who now shouted "temperance now!", "liquor destroys families!" in the streets of their city. It was a rather boring (and at the same time irritating) game. It did, however, spark a certain air of interest in Jane. The possibility of money floated in a glass of gold colored whiskey, and if it were to be banned, it could make that process all the more difficult.

Jane's views were in direct conflict with the view's of her husband, Governor George Buchanan. It was an arranged marriage of sorts, one pushed by Jane's mother. Buchanan was looking for a new, young wife when his first wife died, and Jane practically served herself to him on a silver platter.

Governor Buchanan was a staunch supporter of Prohibition, a believer that alcohol was the drink of the Devil and should be banned from the American market. This is where Oscar Sinclair came in. Jane hated to admit it but, she fell rather quickly for his charms. Could you blame a woman who was more lonely in her marriage than she was when she was alone?

"Jesus, you sure know how to wake a girl up..." Jane spoke, voice groggy but soft. She leaned into the kisses, letting them slowly wake her up from her slumber. Her hands found his shoulders, she turned to lay flat on her back. "About as well as you might expect...my husband is considering changing his vote, but he's not sure..." The blonde informed him, seemingly forgetting the fact that they were both naked in his bed. By consider, she meant that he really just told her to shut up and he would think about it. "He's gonna need more convincing..."

in the early hours of the morning, oz stood by the large window of his humble apartment, gazing down at the bustling street below. the year is 1925, deep within the throes of prohibition. the street is filled with a sea of passionate faces, mostly women and men of various ages, holding placards and banners denouncing the evils of alcohol. "temperance now!", "liquor destroys families!", and "prohibition for progress!" are among the slogans that ripple through the throng. the protestors' voices blend into a cacophony of chants and shouts, their fervor palpable as they march in unison, fists raised, eyes blazing with conviction. standing naked and unselfconscious in front of the window, oz finds himself detached from the intensity of the scene. a bemused smile curls at the corners of his mouth as he watches the proceedings with a mixture of curiosity and amusement. he takes a slow sip from a crystal glass filled with amber liquid, savoring the irony of the situation. his eyes twinkle with a light of irony as he observes the zeal of the protestors. to him, the scene unfolds almost like a theatrical performance, the impassioned cries and determined expressions reminiscent of actors delivering their lines with dramatic flair.

behind him, in the humbly decorated bedroom, the wife of an important governor lies naked in his bed, her body partially covered by silken sheets. oz chuckled softly, shaking his head at the absurdity of it all. the fervent crowd, so determined to rid society of alcohol, seems oblivious to the speakeasies thriving in the shadows and the moral duplicity of their leaders. for oz, the protest is a reminder of the futility of trying to legislate morality. he knows that despite the laws and the public outcry, human nature is not so easily restrained. his amusement lies in the futility he perceives in their efforts, a silent commentary on the gap between idealism and reality.
