I’m enjoying the fact that this season tango and impulse are finally letting their true levels of unhinged show. Like this season tango has no Skizz to rein him in so he’s just a menace to society. And for impulse he has the one, the only, 5am Pearl herself to fuel his chaos

Fun fact that bloody mace from the monastery that I keep accidentally hitting Astarion with is indirectly linked to Bane (since it was created during the battle between Lathander and the fallen Chosen of Mystra Sammaster, who was manipulated by Bane at the time).
Also many of us shouldn't be able to wield it:
'If handled or moved by someone not of the Morninglord’s faith, the Blood of Lathander pulses in extremely bright, irregular flashes (brighter than a continual light spell) designed to make its carrier release it or to draw attention to its presence. If it is carried about by such a being, the bearer’s dreams are haunted by images of slowly dripping blood —drops of blood that turn to fire and blaze before they strike the ground. If a nonworshiper of Lathander continues to carry it for more than three days, it begins blazing with a bright light and heating up like metal affected by a heat metal spell; however, once is reaches searing heat in the third round, it stays that hot until discarded by the unauthorized bearer, whereupon it returns to ambient temperature in three rounds.'
...Or, quite possibly, the mace is not the real Blood of Lathander.

Secret Life was great because every perspective on it is so fresh, you can watch just about everybody without even getting bored. Even in the finale, where everybody had the same secret, the plot unfolds like a flower, where you understand more of what actually happened the more you watch.
I just happened to watch Scar's episode first, which was a great place to start obviously because I got the basic story of the finale from beginning to end, and of course it was a wild ride! But there was so much left unknown, so many friends and enemies fallen without knowing what happened to them, so many plots unspooling outside of Scar's POV. In the end we were left with the same question he had: How did the guy with no friends win the game?
Part of the answer, of course, was obvious. Scar was absolutely on fire in Session 9, scoring an astonishing number of permakills and racking up the hearts to offset his recklessness. I'm not sure he quite realized the banger strategy he fell into by rushing in and just soaking damage while bashing his opponent to death, then using the ten hearts to repair the damage over and over again, but boy was it effective!
Beyond Scar himself, though, was a massive plot throughline that was only partially visible from his POV, and that was the loyalty the previous winners had to their teams above themselves. With the exception of Martyn, whose partner was lost two sessions ago, each previous Games winner had their own alliance and eventually their own favored player that they wanted to win.
Scott's loyalty to the Cherry Blossoms made their home into a fortress and Gem into a powerhouse partially fueled by his own life energy. She's a hell of a player on her own merits and tore a wide swath through the server in a brilliant first outing, but without Scott convincing Impulse to give her both their yellow lives, she would not have survived the combined effects of Grian's two ambushes to make her way into the final three. Along the way, the Cherry Blossoms took out both Bdubs and Joel, the two players who were Pearl's and who would otherwise have had her loyalty to the end of the line.
Grian's loyalty to the Roomies alliance was always more questionable than Scott's, because he is who he is, but he came through in the end and sent Cleo out of the portal cave while remaining behind to take on the near-suicidal task of triggering the explosion. And when he was discovered, he attempted to 1v3 the Cherry Blossoms to give his teammate more time to escape. (And it probably would've worked, if the remaining Mounders and Scar had not found Cleo and run her to ground at the same time.) Grian's last stand was perhaps the most pivotal moment in the late game because it changed the whole balance of power on the server. Scar never knew why Scott, Gem and Impulse were so much weaker than they were supposed to be at the end of the game, but we the audience know.
And of course Pearl's loyalty is unquestionable, even if by the end of the game, all the original targets for it were gone. Pearl proved herself a Mounder, bred and buttered (as they said in my neck of the woods.) She was quite wary of letting Scar into the alliance at all, but she is loyal and more interested in helping her team to victory than in taking a second crown for herself. Scott and Gem killed her guys before the end of the line, but she still had Scar, and she was still loyal to the end.
And thus the man with no friends wound up on the other side of a fight he'd already lived through four games ago, fighting an ally who didn't want to win for a victory he wasn't sure he deserved. But there's an important difference that I'm sure we'll be spending the entire rest of the series downtime dissecting: this time the victor _lived._

Hermit Horror Week 2023
Day four: Taken Over
Summary: Tango knows being possessed by a bloodthirsty dungeon isn’t an ideal experience, but there’s not much he can do about it now.
Read on ao3
Contains: possession, controlling relationship, sapient Decked Out, murderous thoughts, cannibalistic thoughts, bad life decisions (tell your friends about your problems Tango!!!), temporary character death
Etho is talking to Tango about… something. Probably the new changes to treasure drops on floor one. Tango should be paying attention. He isn’t.
The thing is, it’s easy to forget when he’s on his own. The dungeon is merciful that way. It needs his human mind to maintain the dungeon and gives him free reign as long as he does as he’s told, sometimes he even gets rest. But here? Around others?
Etho’s heart is beating and his blood is rushing through his body and he’s breathing and Tango can feel all of it. Etho is right there and Hypno is to his left sitting on the leaderboard, swinging his legs and Gem is up above hiding in an alcove. And they’re all so relaxed and happy and his prey are so defenceless around him. Tango wants to tear his teeth into them and feel them die.
It’s maddening. The only times Tango can stand to be around others is if they’re actually running Decked Out, getting the same rush he imagines a wolf gets when it chases a rabbit. The rage and begrudging respect when Etho exploits parkour spots where there shouldn’t be or when Hypno escapes alive where anyone else would’ve died, and the sadistic satisfaction when Gem can’t find keys or when the vex descend on greedy players. And, the best part is, no matter how good they do, they’ll always fall victim to the dungeon, massacred in the survivor’s room. Tango gets to taste blood every time.
And, look, he knows this isn’t healthy. He should have clued into it when Zed started playtesting and he began to crave something he had never known before. But, it’s fine. Tango can manage. He nods along to what Etho is saying and does everything but look at his eyes. The alternative is telling his friends, which would be so awkward and uncomfortable and, worst scenario, they stop playing. And Tango can’t have that. Even just the week of vacation he took (mandated by Zed) was enough to leave him starving, shaking, barely able to think, an inch away from death. If Decked Out doesn’t get more sacrifices, Tango will- Well, he doesn’t know what will happen, but it won’t be good for him or his friends. So, he has no choice.
And as he watches, simultaneously, the dungeon that is an extension of himself, and sees Cub die to Willie’s trident. He feels warm and fed and satisfied. He wants more. He thinks - one of those thoughts he knows normal Tango would hate - maybe if it were a choice, he’d still choose this.

Chicago's 6 Merry Murderesses as Taylor Swift's songs
I thought of this earlier today and thought maybe one or two people on here might find it amusing so here you go lol.
For context, you've got to know the lyrics to Cell Block Tango. (If you don't and you want to read on, here are the lyrics.) I will refer to each of the murderesses by both their character name AND the sound they make in the song: Pop (Liz), Six (Annie), Squish (June), Uh-uh (Hunyak), Cicero (Velma), and Lipschitz (Mona)
I am assigning the songs based on the vibe their story gives me. I am also challenging myself by excluding "No Body No Crime," since that would be a bit of a cop-out IMO.
I had fun putting this together! I hope someone else finds it interesting lol.
CW: discussion of murder, guns, blood, violence
POP/Liz: "Bejeweled" from Midnights
Liz says she kills her boyfriend because she came home from work in a bad mood and he was popping his gum too loud, which was a frequent habit of his. She was annoyed and told him to stop, but he didn't, so she shot him. This is, obviously, completely unhinged. It gives me "Bejeweled" vibes because of the lyrics "didn't notice you were walking all over my peace of mind" and "familiarity breeds contempt." Idk I just see a similar feeling of "you've gotten on my last nerve and I'm done with you" from both.
SIX/Annie: "Babe" from Red
Annie says she killed her boyfriend because he told her he was single, they got together and moved in, and then she found out he had multiple wives. So then she poisoned him. This gives me "Babe" vibes because it feels like she fell fast and hard and found out he wasn't the person she thought he was. This one is all about betrayal and feeling blindsided by infidelity and I think the song fits really well.
SQUISH/June: "Getaway Car" from reputation
June says she was making dinner when her husband burst through the door, screaming and accusing her of having an affair with the milkman. She then says he "ran into" her knife 10 times. We don't know for certain if his accusations against her are true; she doesn't let on either way. If he was screaming and raging, she could've thought she was in danger and acted in self-defense. My interpretation, though, is that she was cheating, and then killed him to keep him quiet. For this reason, I chose "Getaway Car," because the milkman was her own "Getaway Car" out of that relationship similar to how Taylor describes in the song.
Uh-Uh/The Hunyak: "Haunted" from Speak Now
Her story is SUPER sad. She's falsely accused of killing her husband, and then no one will listen to her because she can't speak English and properly advocate for herself. To me, this song captures some of the turmoil and grief she's feeling, both for herself and her husband. As the song says, "Come on, come on, don't leave me like this/I thought I had you figured out/Something's gone terribly wrong/You're all I wanted." And like, obviously, her husband didn't leave her here. But I think it portrays a similar feeling of dread and panic.
Cicero/Velma: "Better Than Revenge" from Speak Now
This was the first—and I'm pretty sure only—time Taylor addressed a woman with whom a boyfriend cheated or wronged her. I think it fits Velma's story very well. Velma and her sister did a traveling dance act, and Velma's husband traveled with them. One night, Velma caught them having sex, so she "blacked out" and killed them. Just look at the lyrics to "Better Than Revenge" and see what you think:
"She came along, got him alone, and let's hear the applause/She took him faster than you could say sabotage/I never saw it coming, nor would I have suspected it/I underestimated just who I was dealing with/She had to know the pain was beating on me like a drum/She underestimated just who she was stealing from."
Lipschitz/Mona: "I Knew You Were Trouble" from Red
Mona describes Al Lipschitz as being a sensitive artist. She says she fell deeply in love with him, but that he was trying to "find himself" and ended up cheating on her with multiple women. She's vague about how he died, but she does give us this pretty crazy line:
"I guess you can say we broke up because of artistic differences. He saw himself as alive... and I saw him dead"
Anyway, to be honest, part of what made me pick this song was picturing the music video: this suave, charming artist flirting with this girl and then leaving her because he's a "loner" and a "drifter." I think the story she tells goes well with the vibe of the song.
If you made it this far—thanks for reading!! 💛

Murder Drones AU Prompt (Featuring SoliTango/Rancher Duo)
AN: First off, if you haven't watched Murder Drones, go watch it. It's on YouTube, there's going to be 8 episodes and, at the time of writing this, 6/8 are out and it's really good, really nice animation, really cute. It can be a bit confusing at times, but it's honestly just adorable and I love.
This is the equivalent to the pilot with some changes and simplification for story/prompt purposes. Idk if I'll make a fully fletched out story, but who knows? Maybe.
So, Tango is a Worker Drone and, like all Worker Drones, has to hide behind three doors so the Disassembly Drones don't, ya know, MURDER them? That's no fun. But he also HATES it because while they're working on creating a better future and all that, they're also sitting ducks just waiting to be attacked.
So, he creates a weapon that's missing one part that he knows he can find outside. He manages to sneak out of the doors and finds the part he needs, but is attacked by a Disassembly Drone! He uses his weapon and manages to completly shoot it's head off.
However, it GROWS BACK and his weapon is reloading and- he tries to smack the other with the butt end of his weapon.
"Now, now, that's not very nice!" The other huffed playfully, winking. Tango notices that one of the lights on his headband are red instead of yellow, indicating an error, "Oh! Are you new to our squad? You seem kinda.... short."
"Wha- You're only, like, a few inches taller than me!"
"Yeah, true, I suppose... Besides, G is super short but- OH!" He put his hand up, saluting Tango, smiling, "I'm Serial Designation Solidarity! Nice to meetcha!"
"Oh, uh, I'm... Serial Designation.... Tango?" He lied.
"Pleasure to meet you, Tango!" Solidarity took his hand, shaking it kind of violently, the other gasping a bit, "Allow me to give you the tour and explain things before Grian and Pearl get back from hunting! They're also part of our squad!"
Solidarity explains the Disassembly Drones' purpose to Tango, who counters saying this isn't good, and before more discussion could be had, but the other two Disassembly Drones (Grian and Pearl) come back before he can and Tango manages to sneak away. Tango runs back to the door and tries to close it behind him, the other Worker Drones confused. Before the door closes, a sharp tail stabs into the button, Tango gasping and turning.
Solidarity was in hunting mode, smirking as he licked his lips.
All of the Worker Drones begin running to escape the murder and to hide behind the second door. However, Solidarity is quick to kill them all as Tango tries to work his weapon, which is still reloading. When it's finally done, it's too late. All the other Workers who were in the first door are dead and the second door is closed. Tango holds up the weapon to Solidarity.
"I won't miss, this time." Tango hissed.
"I'm sorry, I really enjoyed our time together, but I can't have you shooting my siblings with that." Solidarity growled, kicking the weapon out of his hand and stabbing the other in the shoulder.
Tango groaned and glared at the other, seeing him hesitate, "W-Well? Go ahead..."
Solidarity clenched his fist, still not moving. However, they heard footsteps and Solidarity threw Tango over his shoulder, hiding him in the snow as Grian and Pearl appeared. They praised him for getting past the first door, saying they could use the vents to get past the rest. Grian was the first to jump and go, pearl gently ruffling his hair. Solidarity faced Tango, who was trying not to move to seem dead before looking at Pearl, who was also getting ready to leave.
"Pearl..." Solidarity hesitated, "Not that I can't wait to keep murdering all the Worker Drones, but... do we know what the company plans to do with us? You know, after?" A question Tango asked him.
"Excuse me?" She asked.
"I-I just mean... Well, if they hate robots... and we're robots... What's going to happen to us afterwards?"
"S..." Pearl walked forward before pinning him to the wall, glaring, "Worker Drones are corrupted. That's why we're here. How many times do I have to tell you this?" She hissed, "Don't make me kill you. You know what the code says and I'd hate to have to do that to my brother."
"R-Right, sorry..."
Pearl let him go, "You, stay back. Don't get anymore funny ideas while Grian and I take care of this." She then left through the vents.
Tango came out from hiding as Solidarity slumped to the ground, "...You okay?"
"I... I'm kinda the useless one." Solidarity explained, "When you said all those things, I couldn't help but think about it and... yeah. I've always been the one who was curious and questioning things and Pearl should have killed me long ago, company policy and all. But... we're siblings and... as tough as they are, they care about me... Even if I mess things up. Messed up your doors and your friends are gonna get killed..."
"Yeah, they are. If we just stand here doing nothing." Tango offered a hand, smirking, "Wanna team up?"
Solidarity blinked before he smiled, "Sure! Sounds fun!"
