Taking a look at my N64 rom folder that I've not touched in 6 years and noticing the fucking oddity that it's me missing notable games like pokemon stadium or even smash bros but also having random ass roms that I don't even remember downloading

Don't use Project 64.
Hey all, a new extremely dangerous vulnerability was discovered in Project64, a very popular N64 emulator. If you emulate N64 games, I highly highly recommend switching off P64 for an alternative, such as Mupen.

does anyone know of a decent n64 emulator ?????
i really would like to stream more n64 games but it seems like every single n64 emulator is shit.
project 64 sucks for a lot of reasons (kept freezing, wouldnt let me load save states without crashing), mupen has a ton of graphical errors, ares loads a little bit and instantly crashes, i cant get simple64 to launch and rmg my computer wouldnt even let me open.
keep in mind i am like an old man with computers.

Wishful thinking
I feel like the few ways nintendo’s expensive and shit emulator service can redeem itself is if it manages to include features that the average and not specialty emulators struggle with or don’t have. when the average person is using mupen or project 64, n64 netplay is a great selling point. It still performs worse than P64K or Simple64, but given how it’s orders of magnitude easier to set up a game. there is definitely value. Same goes for Tilt controls and rumble on the gameboy emulator. Not many people know about mGBA and are still using a vba from two decades ago so seeing tilt n tumble working with no setup is ideal. I fantasize about a port of boktai that uses the switches built in light sensor, pokemon on the emulators that can interact with each other and even the stadium games. Maybe even gamecube with the link cable and ereader functionality. I doubt anything like what i imagine will happen but i do think nintendo can do something cool.

this is really specific and ik it wont ever happen but. itd be nice to have a sm64 romhack that is specifically only comprised of the Parallel Lobby from B3313 in which the paintings lead you back to the lobby, and it is n64 compatible. i rlly want to try it but cant get any good emulators because linux is a bitch about installation methods; i can only run n64-compatible (or slightly better) roms on my Wii via Mupen..............plz parallel lobby b3313 the music is so good i want to walk thru it toooooooykhjoyptdkjjtjuyij

Can anyone give me a pointer regarding entering Cheats on RetroArch manually? Do I need to use the Space Bar to separate the Code Lines, or does that not matter as long as the Letters and Numbers are consistant? Also, does it matter whether I’m using either PARALLEI 64 or Mupen 64 as my core???

OMG I figured out the vertical screen tear issue that I was having with my past couple N64 streams (on Rosalie’s Mupen GUI emulator). I set the aspect to ‘4:3 fit’ which then for some reason was actually a widescreen hack but kept the menus and graphics unstretched all while getting rid of that awful screen flicker on the very right side! all that being said I put my 2 recent uploads as unlisted cause I’m gonna rerecord the Neon Genesis Evangelion 64 action viewer video and do a whole redo stream for Extreme-G eventually cause that was bothering me so much and spent the majority of the time toggling the settings while I was trying to play it. at least this means I can stream N64 games in widescreen and still look great! unexpected discovery :)

Hi probably weird question, but for some reason my mario doesn't have eyebrows when i use your mod? I use m64plus FZ pro on android.
honestly, i have no idea, have never used android mupen :/ could be that the emulator uses different texture names.. you could try dumping marios textures and just renaming the new textures with the names from the original dumped files?
could also be the texture pack is too big and it cant load them all into memory but you'd probably see more issues than just the eyebrows with that.. if its neither of those things it might be the emulator so if theres an android version of PJ64 or Dolphin I'd try those

Those are not individual unique emulators in that post, it's just common ones like Project 64 given a different icon. That being said if you want to try a different n64 emu, you can try mupen, but unfortunately that console doesn't emulate too well as a whole.
unfortunately the other one i did try was mupen :{
neither it nor project 64 worked for me...
