I'm doing a Masterclass with Multitrack!

It's all about sound design and how I use it for worldbuilding, character development and story purposes. I'll be focusing on a 20 minute segment of the finale episode of @notquitedeadpod Season Three, a section which contains over 100 sound design elements, and discussing in detail what leads to me deciding what to include in a sound scape.

Multitrack is an initiative focused on making the audio industry more diverse and this masterclass is a part of their fellowship programme where several promising audio producers are brought in for a number of weeks and put in contact with industry professionals like me.

"Heron" hardware MIDI sequencer V2 (test board) - 2024

Working on a second version of the sequencer. This version has 16 buttons + encoders for steps/trigs, additional buttons for different actions and a slide potentiometer (crossfader).

Another recent single. As the title suggests, I absolutely demolished 3 pints of stout before making this which, unlike THC, actually had a very positive effect in the creative process. This is also the first time I make use of multitracking on my multitrack recorder lmao. I swear I've done more multitracking on Audacity (through a shitty behringer usb mixer) and my sampler (at 32khz quality) than I've multitracked on the literal machine dedicated to recording, mixing and mastering like 24 fuckin tracks at once at 44.1khz/16-bit CD quality. I use CD btw, har har. I'm so old school.

brief explanations under the cut

red spy and sniper fight often but really, theyre an old married couple about it. they might not enjoy each other's methods but they can see that the other is well versed in their craft and have come to respect that, being like-minded professionals.

blu sniper fucking hates red spy. hes still embarrassed about being caught off guard by him in meet the spy and red makes it a point to mock him about it constantly. part of the reason blu spy decided to take matters into his own hands and carve red sniper up in the same way, honestly.

blu spy and blu sniper sit together at the very far end of the 'most affected by being clones' scale; spy is very close to blu engie and that pisses the hell out of sniper. scout also pisses him off (really, he envies scout for having family on blu team, even if he recognizes that that's unfair) so what blu sniper and spy have isnt romantic, per se, but there's something there. they're both coasting along on borrowed, hazy memories. they both don't feel like people. maybe they can make each other real.

This is the music to the Prologue and Chapter 1 of Into The Wild. Battle at Sunningrocks (I've posted this one before) was made on Musescore 4, but the rest were live recorded.

I've already begun making the music for Chapter 2, but it won't be nearly as big. Chapter 1 is only so large because I wanted to introduce all the important themes.

Random Ideas For Multitracking

1: Oracle + Beastkeeping I imagine a mix of oracle and beastkeeping likely just involving channeling the ghosts of animals instead of humans- Alternatively, possibly also channeling your actual spirit animal. I imagine mixing them might give you the ability to talk with other people's palismans. 2: Oracle + Plant Like beastkeeping, this more than likely would involve channeling spectral plants- Quite literally the ghosts of dead plant life. Perhaps reading the natural world to predict the future. 3: Oracle + Abomination These two would likely be "synergized" as they're both "dark" forms of magic- Purple magicks!! I think they would mainly involve giving bodies to oracle spirits with abomination muck, and possibly using crystal balls as an ingredient in the muck itself. 4: Oracle + Potion This one was seen outright in the show, but to clarify... Oracle potions seem to use crystal balls as an ingredient, and this specific mix likely just involves creating what are basically just variations on a scrying potion, though with the added "temporal" aspects of oracle magic. 5: Oracle + Illusion Once more, a set of magicks that would likely "synergize" well together, as sight is a big aspect of both- Using the spirits of the dead, and then mimicking them as they were when alive to trick enemies. Channel someone's dead relative, learn all you can, then use that information to create a convincing illusion. 6: Oracle + Construction I imagine these as doing the opposite of synergizing- Instead being nearly unusable with eachother, given how spiritual Oracle magic is, while Construction is so physical, they simply can't work together in any major way- Likely the most possible is creating golems for oracle spirits to possess. 7: Oracle + Bard Likely uses music as a way to channel and warp spirits to the player's whims, or using the knowledge of the dead to play bardic spells without previous knowledge- Possibly also involves playing songs to create windows into the future. 8: Oracle + Healing Turns healing away from its more physical aspects in order to focus on spiritual health and the like, possibly utilizing sight of the future in order to find the best possible path to heal. Likely one of the equivalents of psychiatric studies in the Demon Realm.

So. Here's some possible bg/lore mixing - idk if normal, 'non-secret service/intelligence agency' humans in this universe know vampires exist but disregarding that -

I think a lot of the vampires, esp the ones in space, are pretty high generation or thin-bloods (i.e. they're weak). Originally Locus + Felix were on the v edge of being thin-bloods (like gen 13) but... they're not anymore. The wonders of diablerie - not that they really advertise it. Views on that haven't really changed. They're also autarki aka freelance/mercenaries, but I dunno when they were Embraced; could've been before, during or after the War. Doesn't rly matter that much, they can all work imo but at least for Locus post-War works best

Locus could have either the Blood Addiction bane or the Noxious Blood bane since I think both could work for him, and Felix would have the classic Ravnos Bane of needing to move around.

I'll post more thoughts abt why I chose those clans for them + more abt sharky etc a bit later bc I don't want this to be too long lol <3
