OLD FASHION.
Thanks to my first and unique rafting company where I’ve worked as rafting and hydrospeed guide on Class IV/V river I collaborated from outside in big events.I was also participiant and member of the Staff of the G4 Land Rover Challenge (ex Camel Trophy) and for the Jeep CAMP/Chrysler.In G4 my team, wins the Italian selection of the G4 Land Rover Challenge where one of ours has been the only one among all the participants who will go to England for the world selections.I was in the first edition of the Italian selections of G4 Land Rover Challenge (Ex Camel Trophy),before the selections for the world edition,in Tuscany where I had to do the safety kayaker and then ask me to be a participant with a pleasant result. In the second edition, also in Tuscany,in a private estate of thousands of hectares as in the first edition,I did the safety kayaker as well as in the Chrysler "Jeep Camp" in Croatia (for the European meeting).I did also a photoshooting with 2 kind of cameras using color and B/W.
In addition to extreme sports that I practice for work and fun,I follow anything that runs above 200 kilometers per hour,on two and four wheels and in the air. So anything that goes fast.
Personally,I have driven cars up to 220 km/h and motorcycles up to 310 km/h.
After a serious motorcycle accident run over by a sober Italian,I was also a case of Italian medical malpractice with wrong operations and treatments in an Italian hospital, but as soon as possible I got back on the bike. Then I followed rafting and hydrospeed courses, taking exams and earning licenses and I became an extreme athlete with rafting and hydrospeed, improving my kayak skills, following dozens of experts worldwide in watersports for my rafting company that now operates in 90 nations worldwide.Doing then,a rafting guide,a rafting instructor, the trip leader, the hydrospeed guide and an hydrospeed instructor for commercial trips and journeys.
Today my COMPANY is a Constructions Company,a Rafting Company,a Photo Agency and an ADV Agency.

Solo or Family Multisport Cycling Vacation with Duvine Cycling
Image by Martin Magnemyr from Unsplash.com One of the beautiful parts of cycling is that it’s a sport that can be done alone or with a group. While a self-indulgent solo trip or one with your riding partner is the way many cyclists prefer to travel, everyone is different. Are you the type of cyclist who enjoys other activities, such as sailing or other sports, such as hiking, etc.? When you…

"Good evening," Louie said when they were let in by Bernie. He waved around. "It's nice to meet you!"
Sid smiled, "Good evening."
"Good evening," Margaux said. "Welcome."
"Sid, hello!" Julie waved.
Seamus greeted as well.
"Seamus, you're rocking that goatee!" Louie exclaimed. "That looks awesome on you!"
"Thanks, man," Seamus chuckled.
"My goodness, Penny, look at the girl," Bernie whispered, elbowing Penrose. "Doesn't she look like Jane Swanson?"
Penrose swore under her breath. "Oh my Watcher, you're right. Act normal, Bernie."
Julie turned to her family, "Everyone, they are our friends."
Louie clasped his hand together, "I'm Louie Davis! So happy to see all of you."
He shook Margaux's hand.
"So happy to see you too, Louie," Margaux said. "Margaux Vanderburg."
"Hello, uhm..."
"Just Margaux," she smiled.
"How about Aunt Margaux?"
"Oh, that sounds better," Margaux giggled.
Sid introduced herself next, "My name is Sidera Harper. Thank you for inviting us here."
"Such a lovely name," Margaux said as she shook her hand.
"Thank you Aunt Margaux," Sid giggled.
Julie turned to the private secretaries.
"This is Bernard Braxton, Mum's private secretary."
Louie and Sid shook his hand.
"Glad to be acquainted with you, children," Bernie nodded, smiling.
"And this is Mummy's assistant private secretary, Penrose Walters."
Penrose eagerly shook their hands. "Just Penny, Rosie, Rose, whichever you prefer!"
"You must've been starving," Julie said. "Come on, let's eat!"
They led Louie and Sid to the dining room, while both Penrose and Bernie stood in the foyer.
"But why is the girl Harper and not Swanson?" Bernie whispered.
Penrose elbowed him, but it hit his stomach, making him groan. Rolling her eyes, she said, "Gosh, Bernie, don't twist your knickers. We'll investigate later."
She left for the dining room.
Bernie let out another groan before following suit, "Young people are quite strong these days..."

FORTUNATELY,YOU DON'T SEE THEM ANYMORE.
“I PAY AND ON THE RAFT I DO WHAT I WANT.”
This is what an italian said at one of my rafting centers.Italians are the absolute worst clients, able to be dangerous both for safety and organization as well as the italian rafting guides, poorly trained, without knowledge of languages, unprepared and improvised in many cases.Foreign guides who come to Italy can also be the same way knowing that italians do not control.
Same thing in all the areas my company deals with.
That's why I completely eliminated the old staff and the old customers, with resounding results.

DNF
I like to run and recently have started doing some triathlons - where swimming and biking is added on. The events are usually fun, even though I am at the back of the pack when swimming and middle when biking. I always feel a great relief when I get to the run, my strongest event. Two weeks ago I packed up all my equipment and went to a triathlon in Pennsylvania and did something I have never done in any race before. I DNF-ed. That stands for “Did Not Finish”. Through a handful of other triathlons, over a dozen marathons, a few 50 mile train ultra marathons, hundreds of 5Ks in rain or sleet... I have never not finished. Until this triathlon.
I even got a great printable certificate showing my “accomplishment”. The thing was, I was not prepared for the water temperature. Whether because of training, equipment or both - I was not able to swim in the cold water. When I finished swimming I was unable to warm up and couldn’t stop shaking for about an hour. So rather than being unsafe, I made an extremely hard and painful decision. I pulled my bike over and stopped racing.
There are many lessons which I could write on. Heck, my last post was about being prepared for safety, using biking as an example! So there’s being prepared. There is also reaching out and asking for help when it is needed. How about humility? Keeping a positive outlook when things go poorly? Changing expectations to fit circumstances?... The list goes on, but what I want to talk about is knowing our limits.

I could have pushed on and tried to complete the bike. But it was safer and wiser to know that I had reached the threshold of safety and needed to stop. Heck, I probably should have exited the race before I did. This is a lesson I need to hear, as I usually push my physical limits to extremes. I was upset, sad, frustrated. Heck, I am still sad, upset and frustrated. Which doesn’t mean I made a poor choice. The choice was right, it was just a painful one.
It behooves us all to know our limits. Those places where we need assistance or can not safely accomplish something. What is your threshold for needing rest and food? Or time away from work? Those are limits which when crossed can lead to anger, frustration or interpersonal conflict. What about physical limits - especially as we all grow and out bodies change. Things I used to be able to do are no longer possible to do safely. Asking for help, saying “no”, stepping back... those are hard things to do.
I guess the advice is, know thyself - know where you might need to step back, take some time, approach in a different way. Part of the knowing thyself is also approaching those limits, safely. How can you know that driving at night is difficult until you feel the difficulty when light is fading? How can I know that 7 hours of sleep is my minimum until I try to function on 6? How do I understand the need for a vacation until I’m overwhelmed without one?
Here’s where community and humility come into play. Yes - push your limits!! Go for a swim in the cold water - but do it with support and know when to stop! Growth comes from exceeding our limitations. But growth also comes from knowing when to stop. Sometimes the harder decision is to push and exceed what we thought we could do. And sometimes the harder decision is to stop and know that we can’t safely go on.
Where have you pushed through your limits? Where have you had to call it quits?
It takes courage to know your limits. It takes courage to get a “DNF”. And it takes courage to try again. (Ask me about trying again tomorrow, I have another triathlon later this morning - this time with a wet suit.)
