Kaz is Wylans father figure in the way an estranged big brother, who only found out he had a little brother through a great tragedy, steps up to be a father figure.

he's trying to try his best, but he stills sucks at it, tremendously. he's not his father, doesn't want to be, but if someone asks to meet wylans father, he would show up (and he'd commit a felony to keep Van Eck away), and no one cares to question him on it. he's hard on Wylan cause he wants him to be better, but also just because he's an asshole. half the time he barely feels like he's this kids brother, cause technically he isnt, but other times he feels like if he isn't there to protect Wylan he would implode, if something happened to him he would lose a part of himself.

Kaz doesn't know where his love and protectiveness of Wylan is because the boy is one of his crows snd what's because himself in this fatherless boy and hopes to change him for the better, attempting to give him what he himself didn't have. a family, and everyone's got a role to play, even him.

Wylan doesn't question it, he's to scared to, to break and down and potentially come to the conclusion that he's just deluding himself. but then he finds himself asking Kaz for permission for menial things, not cause he needs kaz's approval, but they both like knowing he's aware of wylan's day to day activities. wylan stops stumbling over his words when Kaz makes sure he eats or stays warm during his first few winters in the barrel. eventually wylan's more than used to the ceaseless, not very concealed, worry from Kaz. before he and Jesper make it official, he plays with the name brekker. wylan brekker. cause little brothers always aspire to be like their big brothers, even just in name. (and it's so much better then Van Eck or Hendricks)

they look up to each other, in the way a big brother feels pride when they see they were successful, their kid brothers gonna be fine, and then winces when they see a little too much of themselves and not just the good parts. or a little brother who watches their big brothers every move, deciphering every glare, every twitch, every word, noting it down and practicing it in the mirror. the little brother, that for better or for worse, wants to be just like their big brother. we know they were both successful in that.

it's the rough, frankly on and off, chaotic love of an older sibling and the gentle yet demanding love of a father rolled into one fucked up relationship between 2 fucked teenagers with ✨family issues✨

Wylan needed a father, Kaz needed a brother. they got each other, two strangers who were just a little too similar, and became family.

they have a weird vibe, I love it.

The drummer looked...concerned? Hesitant? As if he was wondering why you'd ask HIM of all people for...a lullaby? Well, he didn't have the most…brutal voice, even he knew that. He was in a Glam Rock band for Christ's sake! But….a Lullaby?

"Uh-...Is there...um- a reason you want me to do dis?" He asked, an eyebrow quirking up with curiosity, yet, his voice laced with concern. “You could grab anyone else…I know some Klokateers that can uh...do dis if you uh…needed ‘em to.”

Your lack of comment wasn't much for him to go off of.

"Okey well...er- I can try? I know stuff from Snakes that could be uh...soothin'...nah, you prahbably want an actual lullaby, huh?" He chuckled nervously, placing a hand on the back of your head, calloused fingertips slowly tracing patterns over your scalp.

"I know somethin' for ya, heh...my mom never sang it for me really, said she didn' do lullabies...but uh...I heard it from someone, it's Gaelic, you know dat? Hehe..."

He cleared his throat, quirking up a smirk at the corner of his lips before his face became at least somewhat serious again.

"Okey uh...here goes, m'kay..."

"Adhraim mo leanbh beag tagth' ar an saol...Codail, a linbh, go sámh...Adhraim a laige, a loime nocht faon...Codail, a linbh, go sámh." He sang gently, green eyes softening at the sight of your head laid over his lap.

He smiled. "Inis, a ghrá, liom, id' luí sa mhainséar, inis cén fath dhuit bheith sínte san fhéar." He went on, sitting up and pulling you up closer, pressing your head against his chest as he held you.

His touch was warm, comforting, gentle... You felt content in his arms, letting yourself get lost in the wonders of his embrace. As he went on, you could feel yourself get more sleepy, fatigue taking its toll on your heavy eyelids, on the brink of shutting.

He chuckles, looking down at your drowsy state, you looked like you needed the rest, but he could tell you didn't want to sleep yet, evident in how hard you fought to keep your eyes open.

“Oh yeah, you're all sleepy, ain'tcha? Heheh, yeah. You're all sleepy an’ comfy, huh? Yeah…you want me to keep goin?” He asked, taking your slowly closing eyes as a yes.

“Okey, okey, ‘m goin'…fuck, where was I?” You couldn't help but laugh.

“Right, right…"

“A Mhuire, a mhathair's a bhuime mhín tséimh…codail, a linbh, go sámh.” The redhead continues, his voice soft and delicate, making you believe that despite his initial hesitation, he had done this before.

“Is mé coimhde na ngrásta 'gus Íosa, Mac Dé. Codail, a linbh, go sámh."

You were almost enchanted. He had a lovely voice, everyone knew that. But right here…right now…he sounded like an angel, brutality be damned.

"And…and when I am suspended on high, they...will lean towards me.” He whispers, the change from Gaelic to English so suddenly leaving you temporarily confused.

/srs dnners are almost bewildering to me at this point. Like the Christmas streams were, I feel, a great representative sample of the typical dteam dynamics: yes both Dream and George gave Sapnap hugs and it was adorable and of course they did because they love him very much. But those were mere singular moments in a solid 3++ hours of ‘dnf orbit around each other and make (highly successful) bids for each other’s attention while Sapnap happily trundles along supremely unbothered doing whatever the stream objective was’ And when Sapnap did specifically interact with the dnfing, it was to fondly egg it on (see: ‘is that a ring? I hope it’s a ring.’ etc), not insert himself into it.

Anyway, kudos to /srs dnners for having… incredibly tenacious delusions? I could never manage it 🫡
