Today I was delayed, but not because I don't have a large store of trivial fandom subjects to offer up for polling! Here's today's for another P&P headcanon:

If you headcanon any of them as twins, there should still be an older one—but feel free to mention your Gardiner twins headcanon if you comment or reblog!

This is a matter of interpretation and headcanon rather than simple canon because we're not specifically told of any age gap between Mrs Bennet and Mr Gardiner:

Mr Gardiner was a sensible, gentlemanlike man, greatly superior to his sister [Mrs Bennet], as well by nature as education. The Netherfield ladies would have had difficulty in believing that a man who lived by trade, and within view of his own warehouses, could have been so well-bred and agreeable. Mrs Gardiner, who was several years younger than Mrs Bennet and Mrs Phillips, was an amiable, intelligent, elegant woman

The timeline of the backstory is approximate, but we have a description of Mrs Bennet at the time of her marriage almost 23 years before the novel starts:

Her [Elizabeth's] father, captivated by youth and beauty, and that appearance of good-humour which youth and beauty generally give, had married a woman whose weak understanding and illiberal mind had very early in their marriage put an end to all real affection for her

We have a rough estimate of how long the Gardiners have been married:

About ten or a dozen years ago, before her marriage, she [Mrs Gardiner] had spent a considerable time in that very part of Derbyshire to which he [Wickham] belonged.
