An Ambush Simulation Sequel. Minor trigger warning for self-deprecating PTSD references.

Legend has it Mr. Compress still can't find his way out of the woods. But give him credit for calling for help even though he knew Dabi was probably gonna be an ass about it.

Aizawa was my favorite part of drawing this one.  Dabi may not be a villain in this AU, but he’s still an exhausting person to deal with, and the job seems to have been once again delegated to the usual crazy person wrangler.

If you missed Part 1 of Ambush Simulation and are confused about the orange fire instead of the blue, Dabi has gone and turned the temp down for the purposes of not being identified.

The relative humidity and the soil moisture are both factors that affect forest fires. Happy, hydrated plants don't burn easily.

There is also a method to the madness behind the forest fire aside from scare tactic.  After UA’s summer camp, the Wild, Wild Pussycats are planning on hosting a class on forest restoration after wildfires for people with plant-based Quirks.  So they were planning on burning part of the forest down anyway.

My Hero Academia AU: Ambush Simulation

Aight, storytime:

So awhile back, I was thinking about Episodes 4 & 5 of the anime Soul Eater where the gang is tasked with capturing two villains, the zombie Sid and the guy who resurrected him, Professor Stein.  (There’s also the added stakes that if they fail in this task, they’ll be expelled from school.)  After a somewhat harrowing fight, defeating Sid and losing to Stein, the plot twist is this was never a real fight, Stein and Sid were not villains, and this whole thing was just a test that was orchestrated and sanctioned by the school and definitely skewed more toward hazing than actual education.

And I thought, what if that’s all the Vanguard Action Squad was during the Summer Camp Arc?  Just a test orchestrated by UA that skewed more toward hazing than actual education. (Note:  These are the traditional LoV members, so Muscular, Mustard, and Moonfish are not part of this line-up.) At the very least, that would probably be the meanest ruse Aizawa has pulled. And you can't tell me Principal Nezu wouldn't have been all in for this plan.

"It happened once at the USJ. Despite our precautions, it could happen again. Let's teach them how to prepare...by scaring the absolute shit out of them."

"Ambush Simulation" is playing off my earlier AU comic with Shigaraki being the adopted nephew of All Might and leading a pretty normal life.  The rest of the squad is more or less in the same boat. For context, Touya’s canon divergence is he returned home after the three-year comatose and actually stayed there, but since nothing about that household environment really changed, he’s still an unhinged mess, but that is a whole other kettle of fish best saved for another comic. (Clearly getting a kick out of the prospect of scaring a bunch of kids, including his brother, half to death, though.)  Toga’s home life is rocky at best after ‘the incident,’ but she’s no longer a runaway teen.  Everybody else just kinda fell in with each other.

Their role as a vigilante team was inspired by the series Durarara!, specifically Kadota and his crew for anyone who's familiar. I genuinely forgot the Vigilantes spinoff existed...sigh, it's been awhile and I only recently got back in this fandom. The Vanguard is pretty much living by a 'you're only in trouble if you get caught,' philosophy. (And the nepotism has probably saved all their asses a few times because it doesn't look good for the No. 2 Hero if his eldest son is busted for vigilantism.)

Watch Your Back (sequel to Feather Ticklish) - (Lee!Hawks, Ler!Dabi) It's been a few weeks since Dabi warned Hawks to watch his back, but nothing has come of it. Hawks decides to go about his work without worrying about it too much (spoiler: he worries a lot) and, during a private outing to the hideout late at night, he runs into Dabi.

Get Some Sleep* (Sentence Prompt Drabble) - (Lee!Hawks, Ler!Dabi) College AU. Keigo has to finish a very important paper in order for him to graduate, but he's having a lot of trouble and refuses to sleep or take care of himself until it's done. Luckily, Touya is there to get him to take a break and sleep.

Title: “Sleeping Bag Envy”

Scene: Teachers’ Lounge at U.A. High School. Mr. Aizawa is sprawled out in his signature yellow fluffy sleeping bag, sipping tea lazily. All Might is seated across from him, trying to mask his jealousy. The atmosphere is casual, but there’s an underlying tension over the ridiculous situation.

Aizawa (yawning and stretching within the confines of his sleeping bag):*

“Ahh… Nothing beats a good nap in my yellow fluffy sleeping bag. It’s like being hugged by a cloud, wrapped in pure comfort. You know, All Might, the softness is unparalleled. You wouldn’t understand.”

All Might (struggling to maintain his smile, his fists clenching slightly):

“Oh, I see, Aizawa! Always one to… indulge in the finer things in life, eh?” (laughs awkwardly) “A sleeping bag… that luxurious. Who would’ve thought?”

Aizawa (smirking, obviously enjoying All Might’s discomfort):

“It’s not just any sleeping bag. This baby is made from the finest fibers, meticulously woven for optimal coziness. Look at it. Look at the shine! It’s almost… silky to the touch.” (Aizawa slowly rubs the inside of the bag as if demonstrating) “Ever had anything so soft, All Might?”

All Might (clearly getting flustered, voice raising slightly):

“I—I’ve had many soft things, thank you very much!” (pauses, lowering his voice) “But… never anything quite like that. How much did it cost? Surely, I could afford one too.”

Aizawa (chuckling, eyes half-lidded):

“Ah, but it’s not about the money. It’s about… exclusivity. This is custom-made. You can’t just stroll into a store and pick one up. It’s been tailored… to my exact needs.”

All Might (getting more frustrated, his eyes narrowing):

“Tailored, huh? What, did they measure your… whole body?” (grits his teeth, trying to maintain composure) “Does it come with extra room for all that… attitude of yours?”

Aizawa (laughing softly, unzipping the sleeping bag just a little, showing how spacious it is inside):

“Actually, it does. Plenty of room for… stretching out. You know, after a long day of hero work, it’s nice to just… slide in. The feeling is… unmatched.”

All Might (blushing slightly but trying to hide it, crossing his arms):

“Slide in, huh? Sounds comfortable. Maybe I should try it out. Just, you know, for research purposes. Can’t let one of my fellow heroes have all the luxury!”

Aizawa (raising an eyebrow, giving him a teasing look):

“Research purposes, huh? Sure. You could try it, but I don’t think you’d be able to handle it. It’s… a little too cozy. Wouldn’t want you to get stuck in here.”

All Might (standing up, face red, clearly trying to maintain his pride):

“Stuck?! I— I’m All Might! I can handle anything! Just let me…” (pauses, awkwardly realizing the situation he’s putting himself in) “Besides, how soft could it really be?”

Aizawa (unzipping the sleeping bag all the way, laying it open, smirking):

“Come on then. See for yourself. But be warned… once you’re in, you may never want to leave.”

All Might (staring down at the inviting, plush interior of the bag, suddenly very self-conscious):

“I—I mean, well… maybe… maybe next time. I should really—uh—grade some papers!” (turns to leave quickly, clearly flustered)

Aizawa (closing his eyes with a satisfied grin, calling out after him):

“Sure, All Might. Anytime you want to… slide in, just let me know.”
