Anyone else come to some wildly different conclusion on Ghibli movies with age?

Kiki's Delivery Service: Kid: Being a witch is so cool! Adult: Growing up and growing apart from the life you had before is a natural progression of life. Spirited Away: Kid: What just happened... Adult: SHIT HAPPENS! And it sucks, life sucks but you keep going. You can cry along the way. You are being so fucking brave for even going on this hellish journey we call life. It's okay. You're okay.

The difference between the HMC book and movie is so wild like the movie is like

Howl: Sophie, my dearest, please try not to completely ruin my home while I'm away

Sophie: I give no promises my love

And the book is like

Howl: hey PINOCCHIO can you try not to turn the god damn house upside down while I'm out for ONCE?

Sophie: if you mean actually CLEAN THE GOD DAMN HOUSE for ONCE than no, you third rate fuckboy. the garden needs pruning

most devastating hmc book to movie change is sophie's hair color. like. half the joke with the hair dye is that reddish blond is sophie's actual hair color. the pinkish hue made it more similar to her natural hair. and howl is sobbing and crying right in front of sophie about how hideous this hair color is. the color that sophie has. it wouldn't even change the messaging of the movie or anything. on the contrary, it would add to the comedy. since, yk, it is a visual medium. and yet.....😔

So because every Howl’s Moving Castle book cover that isn’t sixty five dollars is in that sort of- gaudy, super saturated, 80s-90s style, I’m making my own. I still need to order the book (cuz I only own the audiobook), get the proper color of fabric, and find some decent gold paint, and once I have obtained all of the proper components, I’m gonna give it the hardcover it deserves. >:3

I will never get over the fact that Sophie was talking about how Howl will only forgo his makeup and vanity if he's truly in love and the next page is literally him showing up to rescue her, unmoisturised, dirty, bothered, unwashed and red rimmed half drunk and calling her name
