(No major spoilers under the cut, just a very general all-over-the-place discussion of the Lucanis romance)
Okay, so I shared my thoughts on Crow Rook and their background a bit ago. I also have a Mourn Watch Rook that shares 50/50 custody of my cannon playthrough thought thing. This is gonna be less about their background (I have a lot of thoughts on that too, but I wanted to come up with something linear before I shared) and more the implications specifically about being a necromancer romancing Lucanis.
Now, it’s a very popular opinion that the Lucanis romance is not as flushed out as it should be. Whether this be because of prioritizing other things in the game, people getting fired, whatever— I worked it into my own cannon for this specific Rook that the pacing and small bits we do get make sense.
Let’s think about it. Lucanis is a Crow. Arguably(?) one of the best assassins they’ve ever had. And not just that, a mage killer. He’s also spent the last year in a high-security underwater prison, and the first person he actually speaks to— the person here to save him— is a mage. That is immediately hard to swallow. There’s no trust. In my head, Rook Ingellvar (regardless of gender) is a weirdo. Like, borderline homeschool kid. When you spend your days around the dead or by yourself in the Necropolis, it’s hard not to pick up some odd habits and quirks. Those jump out a little bit in the Mourn Watch dialogue options when Rook gets to geek out about something Emmrich says or just info dumping to a random person.
Immediately after getting Lucanis back to the lighthouse, we of course see the scene of Spite wanting to talk to Rook and Lucanis not letting him. I think it’s cannon across the board regardless of who your Rook is, Spite is curious about them. I think as a Mourn Watcher, that curiosity is through the roof. He knows they’re more ‘sensitive’ (for lack of a better word) to spirits and demons and wants to know what’s what with them.
Between Spite irking the shit out of him, and that fact that oh no, the necromancer leader of this group is super weird but also very nice?? Lucanis is…conflicted, to say the least. He settles with the fact that they can probably be friends, at least once the trust starts forming between them. After all, they did rescue him and allowed him to fulfill his contract. This is even before jumping at every opportunity to help the Crows, assisting him on his own quests, buying him gifts, etc.
I love the headcannon floating around that Spite is the first one with a crush on Rook. Obviously it doesn’t work like that because he’s a demon and that’s more…complicated, but still. You can’t tell me that after a while he’s not literally obsessed with them. After his incessant nagging to Lucanis and the fact that Rook proves to be a genuinely good person, Lucanis starts to crack. He indulges himself with the slightest bit of suggestive conversation. Once there’s a semblance of an indication that Rook actually likes him, like more than a killer-for-hire, he tells himself that he has to create some distance.
I have a scenario in mind of Teia or Viago questioning Rook about necromancy and their proximity to demons, which makes Lucanis squirm. The Talons know something is up and the Crows are known for being good at retrieving information. Especially when they’re asking an oblivious Mourn Watcher who loves oversharing.
That was just a silly thought, and I may write an actual oneshot because it’s fun, but I think it puts things into perspective for Lucanis. Point being: he doesn’t think he can do this. It’s a push and pull of not only not wanting to give into temptation, but also constantly getting glaring reminders that Rook is a powerful mage. Not to mention the stakes of their overarching mission and goal— that obviously comes a little more into play down the line, but still.
My Mourn Watch Rook is sweet, strange, and determined to not only save the world, but also save her favorite assassin from himself. Lucanis is kind, funny, and brooding with a special place in his heart for the death-loving mage who constantly comes to his rescue. A crow and his mourning dove. That’s all.
I hardly see MW Rook x Lucanis pairings, so if you have one I’d LOVE to hear your ideas about them.

i'm sure this isn't an original idea but i'm going to make my Mourn Watch Rook an Elf cause i love the idea that he is so dedicated to the job and loves living so much that he wants to help the dead and passing souls from this side of life for hundreds of years, for as long as he can

Mourn Watch Headcannons
As I've been playing the game, I've started to have some HC on the Mourn Watch and Mourn Watch Rook (at least for my character)
Mourn Watch in general:
They 100% have had to take some sort of poison training - or have tried almost every poison. Their library has to have about 20 rows on poison alone, as one would have to know how a person died by poison. There is also no way a bunch of students have not attempted to kill themselves (accidentally) to see what would happen.
Nevarra is really deep into traditions - hardcore hates new ideas when it comes to the dead. The younger generations have a hard time breaking that ceiling.
Beetles are prized in Nevarra, so there is no way Mourn Watch does not have some sort of Beetle stitched into their outfits besides skulls.
The Grand Necropolis is Hogwarts. No way around it, the levels move, and so do staircases. Fight me on this. Even the students act like those who do. You have students from higher families who will bully those who are taken in by the Mourn Watch themselves.
Younger students have definitely played some sort of prank on a skeleton at one point.
Mage Mourn Watchers are placed higher than non-mage Mourn Watchers mainly because of their connection to spirits/fade but not less important as a whole.
Mourn Watch Rook:
Mourn Watch Rook is so used to smelling dead bodies that it doesn't bother them anymore.
They hide their skull collection from the others. Yeah, you don't see the Nevarran skulls in the meeting room—there is nothing to see here.
Burning the dead is an insult to them, but they don't say shit.
Is on Emmrich's level with being a Mourn Watcher (very seriously)
Mage Mourn Watch Rook can sense Spite (I believe that they can sense them just can't interact like Emmrich can because I call BS on that)
Wisps they adore - they grew up around them, so there is always a fondness for them
Mourn Watch Rook and dating:
If Mourn Watch Rook is dating Lucanis, there will be one point where Lucanis actually gifts them a dead body. It's for a contract, but they know that Rook's fascination with how someone died will be the perfect cover for why he's asking.
If Mourn Watch Rook is dating Emmrich, then you know they have graveyard dates once a week and dissect bodies for educational purposes together.

SO I hc that my rook Kione (mourn watch rook) is also an artist. So she and Emmrich will take walks in nature while he points out his favourite flowers and she draws them in her sketchbook for him to turn into diagrams later.

A qunari crypt nepo baby is an incredible concept, I have to know - do you have more HCs for your Rook? I'd love to hear about them!
Hiii! Thanks so much for your interest! I believe I have a couple!
My Rook's name is Lycoris! I intend to make her a Spellblade Mage!
When she was younger and the growing pains of her horns were settling in, she got it in her head that her skeleton was trying to break free. It's her family's favorite thing to tease her about.
"Don't think too hard lest you start roaming around here too early for your liking, dear!"
"So you can mortify me in my undeath, as well? No thanks."
She's definitely been given some leeway when joining the Mourn Watch and she is not ashamed of that lmao. She takes an advantage here or there and pissed off a few folks, for sure. That being said, though...
After the events of the backstory, I can imagine that Lycoris is really nervous about having to travel. She's always been accompanied by the other necromancers, so not having them there as a crutch has left her feeling a bit exposed. While she has plenty of skill, she can't hide behind those that raised her when things get tough.
Ummm, I think that's all I got lmao. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I wanted to share some fic I’m working on - Tertiary Impressions - charting Emmrich falling for Rook. She’s a fellow Mourn Watcher but a Reaper. I’ve made a few changes; in my HC, Reapers are Warrior Mages, so Rook can competently cast magic as well as fight. The another element of reimagining here is, well, I don’t like the heavy armour sets across the game so the armour I describe in this is actually inspired by the Nox Nightmaiden set from Elden Ring (including the Twin Crown for really special occasions - I love henins and we know they’re canon cos Vivienne). Anyway enough babble and more fic -
-
He was continuing his study of her; casual destruction of the dead did not sit easily with him but she hadn’t demonstrated any of the usual reckless disregard for life that brought someone to that moment. He had uncovered a number of people committing that particular crime, all of them power hungry and seeking to further themselves. Rook did not seem to be in that mould.
A call for help would arrive from her slowly building pool of allies and she would answer it willingly, donning armour with matching robes that flowed around her as she moved. He’d watched her train in the courtyard, perfecting moves that seemed closer to a dance than battle stances as she worked with her shield, spinning elegantly when she threw it and moving with liquid fluidity as she practiced blocks and attacks with it. When Rook was not training, he’d find her laughing with their associates or even sitting quietly in the library, book or paper in hand with a pot of tea.
That was how Emmrich found Rook that morning; knees bunched up to her chest, reading one of the many newspapers the team eagerly amassed from their various travels across Northern Thedas. Her dark hair fell in soft waves to her waist and she had yet to adorn her usual make-up. Only her facial tattoo highlighted the shape of her face. It wasn’t often anyone saw her like this; she usually kept to her private quarters until she was battle ready once the others were up. A fact he had learnt the previous week.
Rook lowered the paper as she looked up at him. ‘All well? Are the others...’
She trialled off, but he caught the direction of her query; the others and their caution of Necromancy.
‘I caught Harding attempting to teach Manfred a game with his hands, something about paper and scissors,’ he explained.
Rook’s lips lifted into a smile, the type of expression that radiated with joy, and she laughed. ‘She taught me that as well, just to pass the time when I first left the Necropolis.’ She sobered. ‘And what about you?’
‘Getting there,’ he replied.
Her eyebrows flicked up. ‘Perhaps you should join us next time we venture out? Nothing builds camaraderie like having someone’s back in a tight corner and your combat skills were impressive back in the Necropolis.’
Her voice dropped into a soft, wry tone, lips quirking at the corners.
‘High praise, indeed, from a Reaper,’ he replied bowing his head. ‘And of course, I’ll be happy to assist however I can.’
‘Excellent, because we’ve got a lead on a Dragon Hunter in Rivain,’ she said. ‘Harding and I are heading out tomorrow now we’ve identified which mirror to use.’
‘Then I shall prepare accordingly.’

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Review
i need to put my thoughts into words so hear it goes - dragon age veilguard review
keep in mind my playthrough was the following -
female, elf, mourn watch, romanced emmrich, solavellan import, completed 90%.
full spoilers below - you have been warned!
ill add to this if I think of anything through my next playthrough
Combat
Im gonna cop it for this but I fucking loved it. Its literally fantasy Mass Effect Andromeda. and I have ALWAYS, FUCKING HATED STAFFS FOR A MAGE. Now im a mage ninja and im in heaven.
1000/10
Story
Ill keep this short in a few words -
This is if Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and Dragon Age 2 had a lovechild. Mass Effect 2 ending choices and companion focus, Mass Effect 3 cinematics with pizazz and impact, Dragon Age 2 haha and compantion depth.
I was genuinely in shock for some outcomes/consequences but other times im like, what, is that IT. looking at you lucanis personal quest
I wish they put more weight on the 'this may be my final mission' but I digress.
The pace was good.
minimal cameos????? I feel bad for anyone who romanced someone in inquisition that wasnt dorian or solas
I was violently sobbing at numerous points and cheering at others. The choices I made, made a difference.
7/10
Solavellan/Solas
Bioware did a good job. They ticked every fucking box for ME personally when it came to the reunion and the ending.
I called it when I said that Solas would turn around and go 'vhenan'.
also talking love to eachother in elvhen? jesus fuck my heart.
I will add that at times i felt like the game was pushing me to hate solas, where if you are coming in from a solavellan experience, can be offputting
I do think they couldve added more OOMPF to solas and his regrets. like one regret about the inquisitor, or mention. but solas keeping his vhenan card close to his chest till the end made me fucking cry like a baby so
regardless, 10/10
Romance w/ Emmrich
I LOVED this romance. It was very well written and suave. The main choice in Emmrich's personal quest does have an impact and I love that. I chose for Emmrich to choose mortality over lichdom in a 'face your fears' type of way.
the romance scene is quirky. sad boy hours there is no naked emmrich.
long story short, sacrificing lichdom causes Emmrich to clench up more and insists that he is a burden to you due to the age difference. The romance still continues but in the LICH path, Emmrich expresses that he is afraid to mourn you for eternity. which i think is way hotter. PLUS. I can HC that my rook seeks lichdom too.
The argument scene has left a hole in my heart
9/10
devastated there is like FOUR WORDS in the epilogue about any romance.
therefore, 8/10
im tired of writing fanfcition bioware just give it to me in game
argument scene
Epilogue
Now this, I have an issue with. It is way too vague. There is no mention of what the companions get up to next, and minimal mention of the world state following the final quest. I mainly remember it just telling me the story isnt over. It is pure sequel baiting, which they couldve still done AND mentioned brief 'what the got up to'. BUT, I shouldnt be too surprised considering this happened with Inquisition as well. Also, huge set up for Rook to be the protagonist in the next game too. WHERE IS THE EPILOGUE SCREEN ABOUT WHAT THEY GET UP TO. I cant with it. Don't get me started on the sequel baiting for a BIG BAD guy in the secret post credit scene where they claim to control all the whacked out characters in the past.
5/10
~~
this is mainly me ranting and/or loving it and my personal views after my initial playthrough
i also love bioware where I will play everything they put out and be thankful I am recieiving something, but do wish they would learn from their mistakes.

✍️🙈💞 + 🤪 for minala plsss :)))
✍️: Overall, how does the fandom trait you? Are you a beloved character, or hated? Are you popular, or a minor side character? Anything in between?
So since Minala’s my Rook, she’s the protagonist. I think especially since people largely like Rook, she would be pretty well likes, but idk if you’ve seen it, but some people have also been insisting Rook is actually the worst ever and the real villain instead of that bald man so. It’d really depend lmao
I do think at the very least if she were made a companion instead of the PC, people would like her for her goth autistic vibes tho! She’d probably be slotted into the “brain empty goofy” thing everyone likes to slot Rooks in general into which is 100% inaccurate for her but it is what it is
🤪: What is your trait that fanon would exaggerate?
I do fear her being autistic, wasian, and anxious may get her slotted into the delicate flower uwu baby thing despite her being a grown ass woman lol
💞: Aside from with your f/o, who else would you commonly be shipped with? Why?
I think Davrin mainly just bcs they’re best friends lol. My joking bonus answer would also be Anders bcs that’s my husband, but outside of that, idk. Maybe Myrna and/or Vorgoth bcs of the Mourn Watch associations?
🙈: Why would your ship be thought of as cute/fluffy? Why would your ship be considered problematic?
For the most part, I think people would like it! Especially with the Minala and Bellara relationship, I think that people would really like it bcs of the degree of connection and similarity they have with each other, that’s then balanced out with some opposites attract kind of stuff (ex Minala being raised by humans and Bellara being Dalish, Minala being quiet while Bellara is more outgoing and energetic)
I also know people just from telling me on here would like Emmrich x Minala bcs goth x goth- they’re lowkey Gomez and Morticia Addams coded when it comes to romance. Them coparenting Manfred would be so sweet, and especially since Emmrich’s been wanting to be in love for so long and hasn’t really found that one true love. I think it’s very sweet
Then Minala and Neve. I know I don’t talk about them a ton, and that’s bcs they get together post canon so it’s hard to talk about without spoilers. If you can guess by the fact that Minala romanced Bellara in the game itself, you can probably figure out a major thing that happens with Neve that then effects the relationship. So there’s a bit of angst there but I think that makes them getting together all the sweeter bcs it means they still have this very strong mutual trust. Minala makes it easier for Neve to see the bright side of things, and I think they bring out other sides of each other
However there is the elephant in the room and why I always get a little scared even on here talking about the polyam part of Gothic Sunshine, which is the age gap between Emmrich, Minala, and Bellara. All of them are fully grown adults- Bellara is 32 and Minala is 34- but Emmrich being 56 (unconfirmed but my specific hc based on the range we got) would be what would make people hesitate around it. And I know most people don’t tend to care about Rook x Emmrich, but I think that Bellara in the relationship specifically would be what would make people say it could be problematic. Especially with Bellara calling Emmrich professor at first (which she does bcs she first started talking to him over letters about academic things and she wants to be respectful), I think people would get weird about that
And that leads me into another related thing bcs again. Bellara is a grown, 32 year old woman. She is an expert in her field. She fixed an eluvian in minutes when people have studied how to do that their whole lifetime. Yet both the fandom and to some degree the game tends to infantilize her. You have no idea how much it annoys me that they just kind of treat her like a fan for Neve and Emmrich when she’s an equal to them, and yes I do think this treatment of her is bcs she’s an Asian woman with ADHD. Her relationship with both of them does shift in the game, and Emmrich calls out the imposter syndrome she has that’s part of why she acts that way, but then the game immediately goes to characterizing her in her dynamic with Neve as being sisterly bcs god forbid an Asian woman be treated like an adult and viable romantic interest. Rant over but yeah I do think that would also make people try to say the ship since it includes all three mages is problematic

The brain rot is starting early today.
My HC is that a Mourn Watch Rook realizes how important it is in the beginning to treat Spite and Lucanis as separate people. This is why (I think) Spite responds best to a mix of kindness/humor while Lucanis responds best to stoic/humor. A Mourn Watch Rook, who is rooted in their practice susses that out early on in their interactions with the two. This is also my HC reason why Spite is so curious about Rook and wants to talk to them.

spoilers for taash's personal quest under the cut
so, it was already said, but i really dislike how we can encourage taash to embrace both of their cultures in the first conversation we have with them on the beach, but then in the end we have to push them one way or another, either qunari or rivaini, that's not how multicultural people work and it's really a white canadian perspective to write. (i wish trick just wrote the gender plotline without the culture one, they handled the first one perfectly fine and i'm sure taking from their own experience, but it's kinda baffling to me that they didn't make that logical next step that if taash doesn't have to choose between being a man or a woman... maybe they don't have to choose between being qunari or rivaini? like suddenly having a third option is just for gender, god forbid you used it for sth else).
but having played this conversation with two origins (crow and mourn watch) i notice that if you pick the option that you understand what they're going for, rook has the exact same line of reasoning, that they left their family to join their faction and then left faction to fight solas. which on one hand is quite a weak ass comparison, but also it was bothering me that it suggested that rook joined the crow willingly (friendly reminder that the crows are kidnapping/buying kids) and was another way to sanitize them, but nah, it's just a generic line and the writers didn't really put any attention to rook's background with this one, considering the mourn watcher saying the same thing like, goes directly against their backstory we had in the cc. (not for the first time, remember dao cc telling us that sexism doesn't exist in thedas).
what i was quite surprised about is how my rook would actually find a lot of common ground with taash, like obviously there's the nb stuff, but also they're both quite grumpy and are oftentimes considered rude (taash's mom is overjoyed that taash now has an enabler). but also with that culture stuff, it's another part of the canon lore i threw to the trash, bcos my rook is half elven and embracing both sides of his culture. also he's a free marcher, so in both cases he lives in foreign country now (antiva or nevarra), which is obviously not as extreme as in taash's case, like those countries at least are not at war, but i hc that it at least shows in his accent, esp in morgan's case, he has this mix of irish (ostwick) and spanish (antiva) accents. also going further with my backstory, him being an abomination for sth like 40 years by now, i imagine it being way more in line with how anders felt than lucanis, despair is just a part of him, and he is partly the demon that's possessing him. so overall i think he could have way more points of conversation with taash about being two things at once.
so long story short, i'm afraid that taash is going to be dragged into the whole crow family drama in my fic, but at least it means fixing their personal quest as well.

I’ve been flip flopping on what faction I want to do first, mainly between Grey Wardens and Antivan Crows (although I did have a new Mourn Watch idea last week too)… and I think the things that keep bringing me back to the Wardens are 1) the NPCs (Antoine and Evka my beloved), and 2) the fact that we don’t really have a fitting Antivan accent option
Like I guess you can HC that your Rook was raised outside Antiva, and it’s not like DA is all that consistent with accents to begin with anyway (like Cassandra apparently has a different accent than any other Nevarran lol)… but I feel like it’ll still affect my immersion, so I kinda want to save that for a later playthrough 😅
also I haven’t played a dwarf yet in any of the games and my warden rook idea is a dwarf :) we love a short queen (I am a short queen)

I have a problem...
So, I might have gone down my own rabbit hole....with my Rook.
My Rook is a Mourn Watcher Mage who was founded as a baby and taken in. Now, my rabbit hole is that my Rook (once she got older) decided she would help all the other little Mourn Watch foundlings by being the big sister they never got.
She would have started an official Mourn Watch Foundling program for those who are taken in to be official Mourn Watchers once they come of age and can start school. I have a headcannon that Mourn Watchers have their own foundlings groups like the Jedi, but yeah (not as strict). If anyone wants, I can do HC on that if anyone wants it
Anyways! Rook is in charge of this group of rag-tag bunch of munchkins, and they all look up to her because she treats them like family, not like some throw-away piece of trash some people see them as. My Rook, of course, has her shadow that follows her everywhere and is the proclaimed "leader" when Rook is not around. Then, of course, here is where my rabbit hole starts to go into the abyss.
I have this little munchkin in my head that is obsessed with poison. Like poisoning the other little munchkins but not in a bad way, just "They stole my candy, so it's payback." YET! She doesn't know the dosage correctly, so Rook is always stopping near death because this little chaotic minion only does it when Rook is around just to be on the safe side. "Stop poisoning people!" "Why?" "Why?! cuz, it hurts them!" "It doesn't kill them tho, just makes them hurt." "THAT"S A BAD THING MY SMALL CHILD!"
Problem is now is that Rook is with Lucanis...
Lucanis might have brought Teia and Viago for a secret party Emmrich wanted to throw Rook cuz why the fuck not. Emmrich invites Rooks minion children to said party and who does Rook put 2 and 2 together?
That's right, Rook goes to Viago with this little terror in her hands and plops her in front of him like "here ya go, enjoy your new spawn, take it" in the most loving way possible.
Of course Viago and the little terror hit it off right away because both are outcastes with a love for poisoning people who bother them. Teia is off in the corner with Rook already planning on how to gift Viago a child without kidnapping them. Lucanis is warning Viago that they might not survive crow training but Viago is giving Lucanis the side eye like "why the fuck not, the girl is me".
yeeah i need help guys....I'm already writing the fic....

I cannot wait to play DATV.
I have 3 rooks lined up all doing each main class. Right now I'm leaning towards my Mourn Watch Warrior, but I'll probably make all 3 and then decide which class i like more. I'm going into the romances completely blind which I didn't do with BG3 or the previous DA entries.
My Mourn Watch Rook is more like a tired man who is pragmatic to a fault. He takes his duties to the Mortalitasi seriously. I know Rook is used in the game but I hc he is called by his surname more. I plan on him being a warrior. Pretty much my first choice / scout character. Just don't let the faces be ugly
My Lord of Fortune is tricky and I might play to get more of a feel. She has a love of money and treasure. She enjoys the hunt for the most beautiful and rarest treasures and barters for the highest price. She doesn't mind going by Rook. I'm leaning towards Saboteur or Duelist for her.
My last Rook will probably be an Antivan Crowe. She is more blunt and domineering than the other 2. She can appear arrogant but I need to play the game to see how that works and if I want a crow vs Shadow Dragon. I'm leaning towards Spellblade.

My Mourn Watch Rook HC takes what bioware gave us with the whole being left in the Necropolis thing and makes it so Yennefer (like the Witcher bc she a mage and I'm uncreative) was found by the Watch in a black blanket near Wintersend in the snow and then raised by the Watch and specifically by Emmerich. He would be like a dad but not as close to her as like Vorgoth and Myrna. She still calls him dad though bc she got trautized by something (I haven't decided what she saw yet) in the Necropolis and he noticed and told her about his fear of death. So I imagine her reaction to this moment being like: Understandable but could you not? My dad is weird but he's not that weird.
Anyways that's all.
I'M SORRY YOU CALLED HIM WHAT?

I absolutely adore this blog❤ May I please request hcs for Malleus, Leona,Vil, Rook and Azul where their female s/o dies in their arms while protecting them in some battle (something like battle for Hogwarts or NRC in this case) Thanks!
(I never write angst so here it is everyone hope you love it!)
Azul Ashengrotto:
The last time he’d felt this powerless he was young and bullied, on the receiving end of insults that truly made him feel like he’d be better off dead. What he’s feeling now, the absolute dread of knowing there was no deal he could make to possible bring you back to him, was reminiscent of that, his own will to live quickly seeping away the longer he held your body in his arms. He pulled you out of the wreckage and took you to a safe place, knowing you deserved an extravagant burial where your body wasn’t desecrated any further in this useless battle.
Leona Kingscholar:
He had really been foolish enough to think the world wasn’t entirely gray, that he wouldn’t constantly be let down, but he can feel the overwhelming flood of apathy consume him as your body laid in his arms. He was too numb to shed any tears, to even cry out for you to hold on, as he knew it was far too late for that. He stared at your face and thought about the fact one day he might forget what you looked like, that he’d forget the sound of your laugh or the annoyed tone you took when he was too clingy in the morning, and he wondered why he of all people had to have such a cursed fate.
Malleus Draconia:
You were important to him and that was why you were targeted, he shouldn’t be surprised, but it didn’t mean the ache in his heart was dulled. He would give anything to switch positions, not caring that the world would be thrown into chaos at his death, wanting to give anything to have you take just one more breath. He cradles you in his arms and refuses to let you go even as Lilia and Sebek attempt to pull him to safety, retreating and regrouping the only option at that point. He sits by your body’s side and stares blankly, his thoughts unknown to everyone around him who do their best to help their mourning future king.
Rook Hunt:
Rook couldn’t deny that you were dying as you lay in his arms, clutching onto him, soaking his shirt in blood. He was watching as your breathing grew more shallow, as your skin paled and your eyes slid shut to never open again. He tells you he loves you as you take your last breath, hoping with all his heart that you heard him; if there was anything he could do for you now it was to send you off to the afterlife knowing you were loved and would be terribly missed.
Vil Schoenheit:
Vil’s first thought is revenge, the anger inside him welling up with no outlet to focus on as all the enemies in the area were already slain. He yells at people not to get close to you, to not even think of touching you, as only he was worthy to carry you to your final resting place. He holds you in his arms and tells you you’re lucky to have meant this much to him as he was about to ruin his make-up crying over you, finally setting your body down a decent distance away from the other deceased. He leaned over you and allowed a few tears to slip out without any of the other soldiers seeing, hands on either side of your face as he stops an enraged scream from tearing out of his throat.
