Why Should Men Wear a Mountain Print Shirt?
A mountain print shirt for men has quickly gained popularity for its unique ability to combine outdoor aesthetics with everyday wearability. The design, often featuring striking imagery of majestic mountain ranges, rivers, or forests, immediately creates a rugged yet fashionable vibe. But what makes these shirts so appealing to men who appreciate style and adventure?
1. Connection to Nature
Wearing a mountain print shirt for men is a visual representation of your connection to nature. For those who love hiking, climbing, or simply being in the great outdoors, a shirt with a mountain design serves as a reminder of the beauty and peace found in nature. The design becomes a symbol of your passion for exploration and outdoor living, even when you're not out on an adventure.
2. Versatility and Style
What sets the mountain print shirt apart from other outdoor clothing is its versatility. These shirts aren’t just for mountain climbers or outdoor enthusiasts; they are designed to transition effortlessly from adventure wear to street style. Whether you’re wearing it during a hike, at a backyard barbecue, or while grabbing drinks with friends, a mountain print shirt keeps you looking stylish no matter the occasion. The bold graphics make a statement, but they also have an inherent casualness that makes them easy to pair with jeans, shorts, or even a sleek jacket.
How Can You Wear a Mountain Print Shirt for Men on a Hike?
When it comes to outdoor adventures, a mountain print shirt for men is a must-have for both function and style. But how do you wear it to ensure you’re not just comfortable but also on point in terms of style?
1. Layer for Versatility
One of the best ways to rock a mountain print shirt for men on a hike is to layer it with other outdoor essentials. Pair the shirt with a lightweight fleece or jacket to keep you warm on cooler days. This layered approach allows you to be prepared for changing temperatures while still maintaining a fashionable, rugged look. You can also add a hat and a pair of sturdy boots to complete your outdoor look. With the right layers, you’re ready to tackle any adventure.
2. Pair It with Outdoor Gear
To maintain a functional yet stylish look, pair your mountain print shirt with outdoor gear such as cargo shorts, breathable hiking pants, or lightweight waterproof jackets. These combinations not only keep you comfortable during your hike but also ensure that your shirt remains the focal point of your outfit. Choosing clothes made from moisture-wicking, quick-dry fabrics will enhance your overall comfort and performance.
How Can You Style a Mountain Print Shirt for Men in the City?
Mountain print shirts are not just for the great outdoors—they are also a perfect way to bring a bit of rugged charm into the urban environment. So how can you style a mountain print shirt for men when you’re on the streets, rather than the trails?
1. Keep It Casual Yet Cool
To rock your mountain print shirt on a city outing, opt for a laid-back, casual look. Pair your shirt with well-fitted jeans or chinos and a comfortable pair of sneakers. This combination keeps your outfit grounded in simplicity while allowing the mountain design to be the focal point. You can easily transition your look by adding a casual jacket or cardigan for cooler evenings, keeping things cozy and stylish.
2. Add Streetwear Accessories
Accessories can elevate your mountain print shirt to the next level. Consider adding a simple yet stylish beanie, a leather watch, or aviator sunglasses to complete the look. A backpack or a crossbody bag also adds a practical touch without compromising on style. These accessories bring a sense of adventure into your everyday life, helping you stand out while feeling effortlessly cool.
3. Go for a Layered Look with Outerwear
If the weather is a bit cooler, a mountain print shirt pairs perfectly with outerwear like a denim jacket, bomber jacket, or even a windbreaker. The rugged appeal of the mountain print shirt, when layered with outerwear, exudes a sense of adventure without looking too "outdoorsy." This style works well for casual outings, weekend trips, or even a relaxed dinner with friends.
How Does a Mountain Print Shirt Benefit Your Lifestyle?
A mountain print shirt for men isn’t just a piece of clothing—it’s a lifestyle choice. This shirt connects you to the outdoors, enhances your comfort during adventures, and makes a bold statement wherever you go. So, how does wearing a mountain print shirt benefit you, both on and off the trails?
1. Functional and Comfortable for Outdoor Activities
For outdoor lovers, a mountain print shirt for men provides the perfect combination of style and functionality. Made from lightweight, breathable fabrics, these shirts keep you comfortable during activities like hiking, climbing, or biking. Many brands also incorporate moisture-wicking technology and quick-drying fabrics, ensuring that you stay cool and dry while engaging in physical activity. The shirt’s durability also means it can stand up to the elements, making it a reliable choice for all your outdoor adventures.
2. Show Your Passion for Adventure
A mountain print shirt allows you to express your love for nature and adventure without saying a word. Whether you’re scaling a mountain peak or walking through the city, the shirt serves as a visual representation of your adventurous spirit. It’s a way of showing the world that you’re not just about aesthetics—you live for the thrill of exploration. For many, this shirt becomes a constant reminder to stay curious and embrace every opportunity to discover something new.
3. An Effortless Fashion Statement
The beauty of a mountain print shirt lies in its ability to create an effortless, cool look. These shirts make a statement, but they’re never too flashy. The understated ruggedness and nature-inspired prints allow you to wear the shirt for a variety of occasions, whether you’re heading out on a weekend hike or meeting up with friends in the city. Bad Moon Rising
Chapter Two: I Walk The Line
Pairing: Alpha! Joel Miller x Anomaly! Female Reader
Content Warnings: Omegaverse, Non-Traditional A/B/O dynamics. Female Reader isn’t an alpha, beta, or omega. Female reader has self-esteem issues related to her designation. Female reader is plus-sized, taller than the average female. Explicit content, violence, and mature themes, including sexual content. Joel is tad more full on in this chapter. Invasve and touching you. Thus a smidge of dubious consent in that department. Smutty undertones.

Summary: Like hell, he was going to let you get away like that. There was no way in hell he was or is letting you go.
Previous Chapter
Tumblr media
You didn’t think he would let you slip away, did you? Who gave you that bright idea he would like you shoot him in the shoulder and get away with it? He overheard your plans to at least get a horse-drawn caravan to be able to get to Utah easier.
Like hell, he was going to let you get away like that. There was no way in hell he was or is letting you go. Be it today or tomorrow. Or even thirty days from now. Don’t you remember the score he has to settle with you? Did you forget?
He hoped you hadn’t. Part of him hoped you had. Just to let go a little as he fucks you like there wasn’t going to be another tomorrow. Perhaps you were playing it off like you had forgotten. To seem oblivious to his intentions. Crafty one aren’t you sweet thing?
He heard your voice first thing this morning talking to someone who was or might be able to get the horse-drawn caravan you wanted. His own senses are on high alert. He didn’t know how to get your attention completely focused on him and him alone. He continued to listen.
What was in Utah that you couldn’t find around here? What did Utah have that Jackson didn’t? He frowned when he remembered the history of the bloodbath of the ones like you. He didn’t think of it until now. Of course, you wouldn’t stay here too long. Not with anyone.
It was still a gamble that you would even make there in one piece anyhow. The risks were far too high for someone like you to be travelling alone. And the fact that you have already done so? Made it more of a reason for him to keep you close.
You were talking to someone about prices and whether it would be cheaper to get custom-made or to just renovate one yourself. He swirled the whisky inside his glass with a frown of deep thought. ‘I have to find a way to keep you from leavin. To get you stayin.’
“D’ya think it can be done or would it or wraith be better with somethin else?” you asked with eyes full of hope. Which somehow hadn’t been crushed by the people around you. Lord knows it crushed his own years ago. What was in Utah you couldn’t find anywhere else?
If it was safety? Utah would get you ripped apart faster than you could scream the phrase ‘Bible Basher’. He had to find you again. He didn’t care whether you liked it or not. The last thing he was going to let you do, is get yourself murdered out there.
He paid close attention to where you bought your food, where you went to get your alcohol and where you got those fancy lavender scented cigarettes. In a certain kind of way, he’s hunting you down. Just instead of killing you for what you did. Which any normal person would.
He paid so much attention. Too much attention, some might say. He found out what specific brands of items you bought and made sure they were at your motel door every three days or so. Just make sure you knew he was there, watching you. He wanted you to himself.
The specific things which stuck out to him the most were the water-based lube, the spiced rum, the smokes, the four triple extra-large sized men’s shirts with the grim reaper double graphic print. Also, a large mountain sized amount of snack food, and crocheting supplies to create another jumper too.
You had a peculiar taste in reading material by the look of things. A book on Botany and mycology. A few dark erotica books were picked out for yourself too. He must have caught you looking through an adult store once or twice. He didn’t think you read such things.
And your snacking habits? Peculiar and oddly specific by the look of things. Like you were going through something, and you wouldn’t say what it was. Too hush, hush for your own good, sugar. If he had to take a guess or a ‘shot in the dark’. You’re in heat.
He knew the look all too well, after all. The look of someone who hasn’t had the comfort of another for a long time. Perhaps even longer than he thinks it might be. Was this why you were sleeping naked like that last night? The heat building up inside you?
He couldn’t take hearing those soft little moans or gasps from your lips anymore. It’s like he could hear them from his home. Joel didn’t know what he’d do if he didn’t get to you soon. You were still awake and on the motel porch upstairs outside your motel room.
The sweet scent of your herbal cigarettes were wafting straight to his nose. An invisible taunt to his senses. His hand gripped his whisky glass tighter till his knuckles turned white and his jaw tightened. Watching as he saw you take another drag from those sickeningly sweet lips of yours.
The slight bounce of your breasts as you moved around to get ready for another night in. Somehow you hadn’t noticed him by now. Odd. Too odd. Normally you would have noticed him. He didn’t want to hide anymore. He wanted to claim you. To touch every part of you.
You weren’t having a hot shower? Uh oh. This is something else, something unlike the omega heat he’s seen and encountered in the past. Your heat is internalised rather than externalised. Polar opposite of everything he has known. You were in the bathroom under the shower’s spray of ice-cold water.
You didn’t even think to lock the door as you walked back inside. You don’t even remember leaving it unlocked. Normally you would have. It would have been the first thing you did. The door to the bathroom is also left wide open. Your heat came crashing through your body.
Joel didn’t waste any time as you fingered yourself in the shower. Mostly in the hopes a moment of masturbation would be enough to alleviate her heat. It hardly helped you at all. All it had done was increase your arousal to another level. He pondered, Wouldya look at that.’
He continued to think as you walked out of the shower. ‘Thinkin those fingers were enough. Naive as well as a crafty devil.’ The towel tightly wrapped against your wet body, the slight tremor in your left leg. You were debating whether it was worth it to take a suppressant.
Before you could think of taking a suppressant like you have done in the past. The chalky taste of the pill always made you grimace. The aftertaste made your mouth feel dry. Your duffel bag is yanked from the tips of your fingers. You frowned and bit your bottom lip.
You moved to grab it. Frustrated is building inside you now. Joel just thinks you were being cute. Your nose scrunched up like an incredulous, displeased kitten. You grumbled a little. As you were now pulling on your new shirt on. The triple extra-large men’s shirt you bought only recently.
‘Now I know why she bought these lovely things.’ He mused with a slight hum in his throat. You felt him get closer to you as he took another deep breath of your scent lingering in the air. He hadn’t forgotten what you smelt like. The men’s cologne-soaked clothes too.
The hope to completely mask your unique scent from those around you and make you seem rather untouchable. It worked most of the time. You didn’t have to worry about getting harassed or getting whistled at either. For the most part this worked out rather well for someone like you.
Yet somehow, in some kind of way. It didn’t work on Joel. It didn’t work on him at all. You didn’t know why it didn’t. You were certain it was a fool all trick that would work on everybody. Right? There wasn’t, no, there couldn’t be a way around it.
Joel had found a loophole around your little crafty scent trick. How? Well, all he had to do was find out what specific brand of strong cologne you used. He asked the bartender and perfume connoisseur, who was more than happy to spill the beans. He slid over the bottle.
Which he found in your trash can, completely empty by the look of things. The deep midnight blue to pastel blue ombre glass bottle with a gold gilded engraving. The brand itself is foreign to his knowledge. The lid of the bottle is a brass copper and sterling silver metal.
The bartender whistled low, “Rare, expensive, hard to find and not at all subtle. Expensive because of the bottle, the shape of the bottle, the real silver and copper in the lid. The gold gilded engraving in the glass bottle too. Not to mention the ingredients used to make it.”
“If someone, a lone female anomaly, were to use it to get through thirty days in Utah. How would you rate their survival?” Joel asked him. “A certain someone I have an eye on is hoping to spend time there. Lookin to get a horse-drawn carriage to get there too.”
The bartender’s eyes widened when he made the notion of a woman alone heading down to Utah in a horse-drawn caravan. Like Joel had decided to shoot his first wife who is long dead. “I’d say slim to none. But if she came from there? It would explain some things.”
Joel raised an eyebrow at his remark, “Explain things how exactly?” He wanted to know everything about you. If this was another way to know you? Well. He’d be a fool to throw it away, wouldn’t he? What did the mean if you were from Utah anyhow? What are you?
“For starters, the anomalies in Utah are a rather special kind. They’re more likely to kick down your front door if you fucked with one of their friends or mates. Lord forbid, you fuck with both. You’d be asking to be killed in a heartbeat, and once they got you?”
The bartender continued to explain, “They stick together more so than most packs I’ve seen in my life so far. And they rarely accept newcomers who are from other parts of America. My first wife and my second wife are from there. Both anomalies, both with a ruthless mean streak.”
“It also meant my second wife threatening the neighbours with a shotty when they were too rough, rambunctious, and messy with their house ‘parties’. My heart basically leapt into my throat and almost out my poor chest when it happened. Basically, quickly needed to tell them to calm down myself.”
Joel still remembers hearing the woman yell out to her husband, “That blasted devil and his stupid drinking tendencies. Devil fucked your mother!” The sound of the shotgun cocking was the last thing he heard. He still can’t believe he heard that from someone’s mouth. Let alone the bartender’s wife’s.
While you were brushing your wolf teeth and heading to bed after three large glasses of spiced rum, hoping the alcohol would make you pass out hard enough for you to ease the heat down a little more. Your metal toothbrush is a bright pastel pink and purple colour combination.
As you were brushing your teeth to the soothing sounds of a thunderstorm. Your thighs shook at the idea of the six-inch dildo inside you. Rocking your plush hips against it in the hopes your heat would be sated afterwards. Muffling your moans with the soft cushion you bought yourself.
What you didn’t expect was to see him there whispering hot things into your ears. Like he belonged there. You didn’t think he would go this far in the hopes to claim you completely. You didn’t know what to expect now. You also didn’t think he’d whisper. “You are mine.”
Your breath hitched as his warmth embraced your more tepid form. His hand on the base of your throat and his other hand on your toothbrush. His hot breath pressed against your ear as he whispered, “Let me handle that for you sweet thing.” You didn’t know when it happened.
But you swore your legs buckled for just a moment. A short moment your legs were wobbly. You saw stars in front of your eyes. You felt like a rag doll in his arms. Within his warmth of his embrace. Your heat clouded your judgement faster than your commonsense could.
“What do you want from me?” you questioned breathlessly. You didn’t know what he wanted from you. Even as you tried to pull his hand away from your throat. Your body like the traitor it is. Instinctively leaned into his touch further. The heat pooling quickly down to your pussy.
“Everything. I want everything you could ever give. I want your spirit, tenacity, those sweet whimpers when you are lost in masturbation.” Joel answered, brushing your teeth for you now. Making sure you are reminded where you stood when it came down to it. You were going to be his.
Your body reacted in ways you didn’t think it would have. Your knees almost buckled completely. The tone he used made your core fluctuate in a way you hadn’t felt in a long time. Thus, making you wetter from his actions alone. He inhaled another deep breath of your scent.
“You’re in heat, aren’t you?” He said, his voice a low rumble of understanding. You nodded, unable to speak. You didn’t trust your vocal cords to produce a strong enough word or sound. So, you decided nodding would be the better and safer thing for you to do right now.
“Explains all the food you’ve been eating, the cold showers, and the way you’ve been dousing your room in lavender.” Joel murmured as he looked at your teeth to inspect any spots, he might have missed in brushing your teeth for you. The scent of the lavender body wash lingering.
The scent of your heat is growing stronger by the minute. He inhaled your scent slowly as it took everything, he had not to throw you upon the motel bed and take you there. But he had to this properly, slowly, and the last he wants? you running off again.
Joel looked over his handiwork, your teeth are cleaner than they had been whenever you did it yourself. Your brain loudly telling you to pull away from him. But you can’t seem to find either the energy or the willpower to pull away from him. You don’t know what’s worse.
You really don’t know what’s worse. The fact that you don’t want to pull away, or the fact that you like it enough to not pull away. “Look at you, such a good girl,” Joel cooed into your ear. If it were anyone else saying that? They’d be dead afterwards.
Here you are, allowing a strong alpha like him brush your wolf teeth for you, and the strangest thing. Strangest thing, you didn’t completely hate it, and it’s like he knew it too. His thumb continued to caress your neck, your breath hitches with each lingering touch up and down.
When he finished brushing your teeth, you managed to squeak out a question, “Why are you doing this?” Shakier than you would have liked it to be. Why is he so fixated on you? Why isn’t he repulsed by your anomalous nature? Why isn’t he not scared of your venom?
You knew you were going to need another shower by the time they would finish. It was like he knew you better than you knew yourself. Why is that the case? You didn’t speak to him all that much last week, and the man you asked to get the carriage?
He seemed to be taking his time with either making it himself or waiting for when you were able to make a clear-headed decision. You looked into his deep brown eyes as he answered, “I know what you are. I know what you need and what someone like you deserves.” Before you could say or utter anything else, “Cause sugar, Utah ain’t safe for someone like you. Especially now. Secondly, I don’t want you out there by yourself no more. I’m sure you can understand that, can’t you?” The blend of concern, possessiveness, and demand wasn’t completely lost on you.
You didn’t know what to say to that. The heat is making you delirious. You didn’t know you could feel this kind of way. You didn’t know what to think now. You felt vulnerable and exposed. And for the first time in a long time, you weren’t scared of it.
Joel looked at the brand of spiced rum you had drunk from with a raised eyebrow, “Incredibly specific taste you got here. Not that I mind, but I’d like to know why you chose that over whiskey neat. That’s what most anomalies I know prefer to ease their heat with.”
“Whisky is more of a thing to have when I’m somewhere familiar or if I want to end up sleeping with someone. Spiced rum has a different kick that something like Whisky doesn’t have. If I don’t have that? I normally have gin or vodka.” you answered his question honestly.
You didn’t know why you added this part into it. But you felt like you needed to. “And if it gets cold enough? Mulled spiced wine followed by Italian hot chocolate.” You still remembered when someone gave you Italian Hot chocolate with a Irish baileys cream and 90% dark chocolate.
As you were eating some more room service food, Joel looked through your dark brown journal which had everything you learned for the past ten, almost eleven years. The drawings of the mushrooms which are edible and the plants which are rare. Followed by how to shoot different guns properly.
Your journal also had things to ‘watch out for’ in strangers and what to do when you saw a ‘red flag’ pop up. It held recipes for dishes for when you were in the middle of nowhere and didn’t have access to a working stove. Written down in beautiful cursive.
A list of people you should avoid and the reasons why you avoid that person in particular. Each person listed has a hand drawn picture of what they look like to make it easier to remember what their faces look like or at least to remember certain parts of them.
The main reasons for your avoiding them are things are like: ‘Dishonest’, ‘Untrustworthy’, ‘Danger to themselves and others’, ‘Criminally negligent’, ‘Abusive’, ‘Power Hungry’, ‘Emotionally Unstable’, ‘Walking red flag’, ‘Attracts too much attention’, ‘Does not respect personal space’, ‘Does not respect boundaries’, ‘Does not know the meaning of the word no’.
The most telling reason he managed to find out of all, ‘Has hurt me’. Joel immediately thinks, ‘What do you mean ‘has hurt me?’ What do you mean by that? Did they hurt you physically, emotionally, mentally, or sexually? If it's all three?’ All his protective instincts were firing off.
He didn’t know whether to stay with you or to hunt them down just to tear them to shredded pieces. “He’s long gone. Man was shredded by a raider group two days after.” you remarked. “Flip over to page 40. It should detail how he died in extremely graphic detail.”
It didn’t stop the rage from boiling and bubbling up inside him. It didn’t stop him from wanting to kill the pathetic Bastard a second time. Now, did it? No. It didn’t. You could see it in how his jaw tightened further and how the grip on the journal tightened.
“You don’t have to read it, you know? The man’s no longer alive and, killing him a second time won’t do anything other than make a mess.” you stated as ate your burger. “Better to live and let live than to stew in the sea of a potential what if.”
Joel’s eyes snapped back to yours as you ate your three layered burger, he couldn’t fathom how calm you are about this. He didn’t know what kind of thinking you needed to adapt to process what you went through. Was writing inside this heavy, thick, dark brown journal helping you?
“I just wonder why you decided to write about them in such detail.” he murmured in a deep growl. He’s trying to read you like a book. Yet you are far more complex, complicated than any book he’s read in his life. “Is there a reason for all of this?”
“To remember. Not for their sake. Mostly my own. I got the idea from someone at nineteen years old. They said, ‘Don’t rely on your photographic memory’ and ‘Don’t trust anyone who is willing to shoot first. But don’t hesitate to shoot first.’ Contradictory I know. Very strange. Very off-putting.”
Once Joel heard the ‘Don’t hesitate to shoot first’ part from you? Things were slowly clicking into place, like a puzzle, he wasn’t allowed to touch all the pieces of out of fear he would ruin the complete picture. While you were getting ready to fall asleep later that night?
As you slept that night, your heat made you act up a little, gnawing at your senses further and further. Thinking Joel must have left after checking the time and the blaring red numbers calling out to you. ‘03:36’. You frowned as you slipped your fingers between your thighs.
You didn’t think he was seriously going to claim you. Not only that, but you’ve heard talk like that a million times before. You didn’t think to take him too seriously or seriously in general. He could have anyone he wanted, right? He was only being a little creepy, right?
As your fingers inched closer to your centre, your warmth, the gummy and luscious scent of your nectar oozing out. Your heat wrapping around her like a fog yet sweet like cotton candy. Tooth rotting levels of sweet emanating from your core. It's like your own body is demanding more.
More of him. More of his gentle, unassuming touches. More of his intoxicating scent. Where did this come from you wonder? Was it the fact that he didn’t excessively question you or the way he talked about your anomalies like he knew them all like the back of his hand?
You didn’t know whether to give into it completely or to continue to push it away? What would be the right course of action to undertake, and what would it be better for you in the long run? All of these questions popping up like bubbles slowly, chaotically popping up.
Yet again, he decided to pop those thought bubbles away from inside your head with a strong needle brimming full of self-confidence. The kind  you wished you could have all for yourself. The urges were far too strong to ignore anymore. And maybe it was indeed a long time coming.
That you didn't have to be out there on your own. You were still dead set on getting the caravan, there wasn’t a way in hell you weren’t getting your hands on one of them. Staying inside motels wasn’t cheap nor was it sustainable enough for your own liking either.
As you absent mindly thought about that. Joel wriggled his way into your bed. Your body convulsed a little as you felt his warmth against your back. Your mind blue screened like a computer malfunctioning. You still couldn’t believe he was there in person. You assumed he would be gone.
Likewise, you have forgotten what it was like to have another person squashed up against your body. “You know, most normal people don’t cosy up to the person who shot them in the shoulder with a sniper rifle.” you whispered. As his arms pushed you further into his tight embrace.
“For one, I’m not most people, secondly, I’ve had dates which ended worse than that.” Joel quipped back, his warm breath pressing against your neck. Oddly enough his voice comforts you. Scratches a certain part of your brain you didn’t know you had. Not like you’d tell him. Not yet.
“I’m still planning on getting that caravan.” you stated, hoping to assert some form of independence on your part. This was something you’ve been saving up for years. Even if it had taken you a little longer than you would have wanted it to. Contracts only paid so much anyway.
“Utah has the bullet casings I want.” you stated. “The one for the Barrett M8AI. Which are incredibly hard to come by without knowing someone willing to give the right contacts or the right price. Besides, as much as I would like to stay forever. I still need to work.”
“I don’t plan on stopping you, either. I just want to go with you.” Joel murmured, inhaling your scent far more deeply now. His eyes flicking over to the sniper rifle in question. The anti-material sniper rifle in the gun case. One of the few things Joel recognised you for.
“May I ask why?” you questioned with a furrowed brow. You weren’t just curious now, you were unsure as to why he wanted to go with you. Surely he had someone at home waiting for him right? Surely someone like him would. Any alpha like him would be married, right?
Any alpha like him would have been married already and having at least several pups by now, right? He’s old enough to have a few already. So why is here with you? Why would he want to be around you? The bullet wound must have done something to his mind.
That has to be the answer for his behaviour, right? It has to be. There couldn’t be any other explanation for it. For why, he’s there with you right here and right now. Maybe he just pitied you, or felt sorry for you or something? Though even that is doubtful.
As if he could read what you were thinking from the top of your head to down to your toes. He remarked, “Body language. You are giving off so much of your confusion, anxiety, and everything else you think you’re hiding from me. Besides that, I can smell your heat.”
Before you could protest further or put up an argument as to why you think that wasn’t the case at all. Joel continued to speak, “Your thoughts are louder than any drum to my ears right now. You think I’m here out of pity, or because I’ve gone soft somehow?”
“I don’t know what to think. You are confusing, perplexing and my guide book doesn’t even cover people like you at all.” you protested. This only made Joel chuckle darkly, his grip around you tightening enough for you to squeak a little. His grip is a vice, a comforting vice.
“I’m surprised you haven’t. Considering the fact, you’ve been all around for the past ten years.” Joel murmured into your ear. Sending another involuntary shiver down your spine. You were enjoying this, weren’t you? The sensual feeling inside fuelled thought of sharing a bed with someone you barely knew about?
You turned around to face him. As his eyes searched yours for a sign of resistance. Upon finding absolutely none whatsoever, leaning in closer and closer. Until his face his millimetres away from yours. “Why are you actually here, Joel?” you asked tentatively. Softly. As if the silence was delicate.
“You could have anyone else, literally anyone else, you do realise that right? I am not foolish enough to be naive about this.” You continued to speak softly. You were cynical when it came down to the whole world of romance. The sphere of romantic gestures is foreign to you.
“You know what I do, you should know why I do it and lastly, you shouldn’t possibly want to be around that? I admit it, I don’t completely understand it. In fact, I don’t think I ever will.” You were never the one for sweet talk or grand, extravagant gestures.
All your instincts are telling you to be careful, to remain alert, screaming in your ears that this is a huge lie. Nothing but false facade for his sick desires. You didn't know whether your instincts were telling the truth about him. ‘He’s an alpha, alphas don’t care about you.’
Followed by another thought, ‘He’s just being noise to you, don’t read too much into it.’ Joel interrupts your thought pattern again, tapping your forehead like it was a radio going static. Instead of a radio, it was your mind and the only channels were broadcasted through colourful fever dreams.
“Earth to Houston, calling [Y\N], you really gotta stop letting your mind wander off like that.” he playfully tutted like a disappointed partner who had to wrangle in their loud spouse for dinner. At least that is how your parents were for a while. At before all this mess.
“I’m here because I’ve had enough of the same old shit, darling. And you? You’re a breath of fresh air. Plus, I have a knack for finding trouble, and I suspect you’re about to walk into a tornado of it.” Joel’s eyes searched yours, the intensity behind his eyes.
The intensity behind his eyes, the intensity behind his gaze was something you weren’t used to. It was like he was peeling away all your layers and seeing every single one of your fears and insecurities. Peeling them away like layers of dried paint on a piece of vintage, aged furniture.
“You better not be jinxing me. I’d rather not deal with another tornado back in Utah. That would be like double-dipping in a two-day-old open stale salsa your friend said was ‘ok to eat’ and ‘still before the best before date on the jar’.” you remarked with a deep sigh.
“I don’t know about salsa, though I can’t particularly argue with your analogy there either. I know for a fact that I’m not jinxing you. And if it turns out I did? Well, I’ll admit that I was wrong.” Joel smirked, his eyes never once leaving yours for a moment.
You don’t know how long you stayed awake like this with him for, because the next morning came around faster than you thought, and you were both naked as a pair of jaybirds. You don’t remember much after the conversation between the two of you. The hangover you have now?
It was like someone cut you in half and expected you to keep going afterwards. You didn’t know what was worse, the fact you allowed this to happen so smoothly or the fact that you didn’t care that it happened at all. If your mother knew you’d be like this?
If she knew you’d turn out this way? She’d be turning in her own grave relentlessly. You weren’t a saint, you weren’t a virgin either, far from it. Much to the dismay of your parents when they found out. You don’t normally invite alphas to your bed on a whim. Yet somehow this one managed to squeeze in the right way. Making room for himself deep inside your bones and deciding, ‘Yeah, this is where I’ll stay from now on’.

John Lennon interview with David Lewin, ‘As the next row looms over Lennon’, Daily Mail, 21 July 1967
LEWIN: “At the age of 26, Mr. Lennon, you are a millionaire, musician, author with two best sellers published, entertainer, singer, painter and now after your first dramatic film part a straight actor. That is more achievement than most men could get in two lifetimes. What is left for you to do?” LENNON: “All that has happened is just the beginning. Merely the preliminary phase. What will I do? I don’t know. I just don’t know. I have no sense of achievement - just that it all happened. The achievement was in the happening, not sitting here as though it were all a series of mountains climbed.  “Acting - straight acting that is, away from the others - I won’t do it again. It was a drag. I don’t think I’ll write another book. The great feeling then in having it published and now although I have written things since I was a child - after seeing a book of mine in print I don’t sit at the typewriter anymore.
“Writing and acting I think have gone as far as they can. There is nothing more you can do in those fields. I am interested in something more plastic - something that can be moulded more - like the applications of electronics to music or the making of a film. There is opportunity for new forms in both those fields.  The four of us will make another film later this year. But we’ll do it without a director, perhaps even without a scriptwriter. We’ll play ourselves - not as a group but as individuals - and it will grow as we go along in the way that we make a record.”
I was talking to John Lennon yesterday after I had seen a special showing of his first film away from the other Beatles in which he plays a straight acting, dramatic part. The film is How I Won the War and it is a brilliant, powerful and vastly funny attack on all the myths and sham heroics of real war and war as it has hitherto been done on the screen. It was made by Richard Lester, long-time friend of the Beatles, who directed their first films as well as The Knack and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. It is easily his best work.  Lennon - ‘I was an apprentice in the middle of professionals’ - comes out very well indeed as Private Gripweed, a pre-war Fascist. ‘I was a great mate of Mosley’ he says in the film. ‘I used to hold his voice for him while he lost his meetings.’
LEWIN: “Why did you take the part?” LENNON: “Ergo … the subject … the need to escape, and the flattery of being asked. “We had just come back from that tour of America and Manila and there were riots and I thought we might be killed and there was all that fuss about the remark I made about Christ (“We are more popular than Jesus”) and I wanted to do something where there wouldn’t be time to think about the horror of it all.  “I hate war. The Vietnam war and all that is being done there made me feel like that. If there is another war I won’t fight - and although youngsters may be asked to fight I’ll stand up there and try to tell them not to, I hate all the sham about war.  Then, of course, as I got more used to acting - when we all filmed together before it was a lark - there were long waits between takes and it was all draggy, which is why I won’t act by myself again. And then being in the sun and the desert waiting, I started to think about myself.” John Lennon was sitting with me, secluded in his safe stockbroker’s Surrey home, with his four-year-old son, Julian, playing in the garden by the swimming pool. Lennon was wearing blue velvet slacks, a striped T-shirt with a yellow anti-war button pinned to it. The button - sent from America - showed a yellow submarine (Lennon and McCartney wrote the song) with flowers sprouting from it instead of nuclear weapons, and a CND sign in the middle.
LEWIN: “And you know about yourself?” LENNON: “I’m discovering myself. I’m not hung up about myself or anything like that. But I am trying to find out what is real in me and make it evident. How can I bring up my son if I haven’t brought up myself properly yet?  “There is a lot to know and I’m just beginning. I’m not particularly introspective or egocentric. It is rather, as the Buddhists say, that I am seeking a loss of ego. When we were all together touring this country or America we were like the centre of a hurricane that was going on around us. The calm centre. We had to get to understand one another because we were so often together in hotel rooms and we couldn’t get out because of the hurricane.  “It was like being married to one another. At first there were squabbles between us - like married people - but then we got to know one another. We talk to one another on the phone every day now and we see each other at least every two days. We are friends.  We see the sham in so much that goes on - but that isn’t particularly new. We were sort of programmed into that from our childhood in our attitudes to authority. So much that goes on is synthetic - just look at television for instance. That is why How I Won the War is so important. There is no sham in that and people ought to see it.” LEWIN: “Are you cynical then?” LENNON: “Not about life or love or death. I’m cynical about politics and government and society. I haven’t voted so far, although I am more Labour than Tory. I just don’t believe in what any party says. I am a pessimist about some immediate things that happen - war for instance - but I am an optimist about eternity. I believe in life after death so I believe death isn’t an end but a beginning.” During the hours I was with him - although the portable radio was playing many Beatle records - he did not once refer to the others as THE Beatles. They are just individuals not a group - just John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
LEWIN: “Will there be another group like yours?” LENNON: “Not like us, but the time is right for something more freakish to come along at any minute.” LEWIN: “You have advanced so much now that you must feel like sedate old men in comparison with the teenagers today.” LENNON: “The past does seem so far away now. When we sing 'A Hard Day’s Night' now it is like a nursery rhyme from childhood.   The film How I Won the War will propel John Lennon right into the middle of another controversy because its attitudes are so advanced, too. As Dick Lester, the director, said: “One of the gross obscenities about war now is the war film itself. War on the screen is treated like a great big adventure with extras being killed in the way of a Western.” Lennon will ride that row. Money has given him not power but economic possibility of choice. He could retreat to Surrey and pull up the drawbridge after him. I doubt if he will. There is no pretence about him. He went off with his wife and son. A family group. He said: “I’d like to be anonymous, but I wouldn’t swap being me for anything.”

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #327
Today, J and I got up early. Early enough for me to snap some pretty good pictures of the morning sky:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
J wanted to practice takeoffs and landings while having me in the plane, and so that is what we did! I got a couple neat pictures as we did that:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I guess there was some kind of forest fire that spread to a nearby mountain range from a state that is east of us. It's why the first picture is all weird and hazy-looking. We were gonna go to the place where new pilots practice, and J was gonna ask me to do some things, but visibility was a bit too low. We decided to do that some other time.
We decided to go to Eggcellent once we were done. Ea was there. And apparently, today is their last ever day of making and selling their famous cream cheese tarts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of these, my favorite is easily the yuzu one. But when they have matcha, that one is my favorite.
...I'm a little sad that they're not gonna make these anymore. But apparently, the cost of the shell that the filling goes into is getting so high that they'd have to sell each of these little tarts for $6 if they wanted to turn a profit. They think that such a price would be unreasonable. So they're going to try to make Portuguese tarts instead. I don't know what a Portuguese tart is, but if it's made by Ea and Ch, I'm sure it's gonna be delectable!
We spoke to Ea at length about the general state of things here. There were several things that he wasn't aware of, I guess. We explained that we will try to leave, and he seemed sad about it. He and J talked a little about the idea of us starting a Canadian branch of Eggcellent, haha...
...It's a nice idea, but I don't know a damn thing about running a business. I could memorize their recipes, but... I'd probably get really frustrated and overwhelmed with trying to figure out the logistics. And who knows whether people would even wanna try it.
...I looked into maybe studying game design in Canada. There's apparently an 8-month program somewhere over there. I'm gonna try to figure out how much it costs, and whether I can do it remotely. I'll need some of those skills for certain stories that I've got rolling up around in my noggin.
J and I went to a meetup for autistic people after that. There was me, J, a dude and his son who was about my age, I think, and also a lady with her son, who might have been a few years younger than me.
...The lady spoke to J and I as though she didn't understand that there's a difference between “quiet” and “stupid”. She kept responding to anything that J said with a slow, high-pitched, patronizing, “oh that's so interesting,” as though she was speaking to a small child showing off their paperclip collection, instead of to a grown man who was talking about his experiences as a musician in a ska band. I found it rather distasteful, but I wasn't sure that it was worth fighting a battle over; her son was wearing a camouflage-print John Deere hat, and a shirt that said, “I don't need no therapy; I just need to listen to more Garth Brooks!”
...You're not going to understand the cultural references behind non-military and non-hunting things being camouflage-print. You're not going to understand the relevance of John Deere and how these things fit together. And you're not going to understand Garth Brooks, or the implications of denying the efficacy of therapy, and how these two things are connected. And that's perfectly fine. I'm not going to explain it. I sure do wish that some of my brain cells weren't allocated towards knowing these things, so I'm not gonna force you to also allocate any of your brain cells for the purpose of understanding it.
So don't worry about it. It's ugly stuff anyway – stuff I grew up in and understand intuitively; I don't think I'd be able to explain it well even if I tried. It's too much contempt towards mental health concepts, too much contempt towards the idea that men also have feelings, too much worship of military culture, too much worship of rural culture, and too much worship of extremely narrow definitions of “masculinity”, all rolled up into a few very small symbols, and worn in a performative fashion. There are too many hostile defense mechanisms in play from this other person for me to be able to untangle them all.
I was glad to be home. The other man and his son seemed generally delightful, and I look forward to maybe meeting them again, but... I was glad to be home.
I'm... tired today. Though I'm not sure why. It could be a simple matter of me not keeping up with my water intake as much as I ought to lately. It could be the weight of things catching up to me. It could be that I didn't sleep well last night. I'm not really sure.
...Are you doing any better where you are...? I wonder...
It's cold outside. It's supposed to be cold outside. But I guess the chill has kinda seeped into the house, despite the heat being on. Suppose the thing to do is sit in front of the fireplace for a while until the chill decides to leave my bones.
...Wanna join me...?
Tumblr media
...It's impossible, I know. But maybe you can pop by, kick off your boots, and warm up your toes here next to me.
...Maybe I'll try to play a video game tomorrow or something...
Hey. I love you. And even on days I'm tired, I'm still gonna write to you. So please stay safe out there. Please keep making good choices. Because I'm gonna write a letter to you tomorrow, too.
'Til soon.
Your friend, Lumine

Wedding Guest Outfit Ideas: Styling Tips for Every Event
Attending a wedding is an exciting opportunity to dress up, celebrate love, and create memories. Whether it is a grand traditional affair or an intimate destination wedding, choosing the right outfit as a guest requires careful thought. One needs to strike the perfect balance between adhering to the wedding theme and showcasing your unique style.
This is the ultimate guide on styling tips and outfit ideas for any type of wedding event, ensuring you look stunning, yet fitting the dress code.
Understanding the Dress Code: Before considering outfit ideas, it would be a good idea to understand what the wedding dress code entails. Here are some common dress codes you may come across.
Black Tie: Formal clothes such as evening gowns or tuxedos. Semi-Formal: Dresses, midi skirts, or dressy jumpsuits for women; suits for men. Casual: Sundresses or simple trousers with stylish tops. Traditional: Attire that reflects the cultural traditions of the wedding (sarees, lehengas, or sherwanis for Indian weddings). Always check the wedding invitation or consult the couple if you are not sure.
Daytime Wedding Attire: Day weddings often require lighter, breezy outfits in pastel tones and floral prints.
Outfit Ideas: Women: Go for flowy dresses in midi or tea-length lengths, in chiffon or georgette. These should have floral prints or pastel colors like blush, mint, or lavender. Men: Light-colored suits in beige, gray, or pastel shades paired with crisp shirts. Styling Tips: Avoid heavy embellishments and dark colors, which is more suited for evening parties. Nude or pastel-colored shoes and simple jewelry will do. Add a floppy hat or chic sunglasses for outdoor weddings.
Night Wedding Attire: Night weddings tend to be more formalized and glamorous, making possible dramatic costumes and accessories.
Women: For marriage ceremonies, floor-length gowns or heavily embroidered lehengas are worn, while cocktail dresses or evening gowns in a jewel tone like emerald green, navy blue, or burgundy would look perfect for Western marriage. Men: Black tie events demand tuxedos or tailored suits that are in darker shades of colors. Styling tips: Pair your outfit with statement jewelry like chandelier earrings or bold necklaces. Heels or metallic-toned dress shoes can really make the look pop. A clutch or evening bag is a great way to carry essentials.
Destination Wedding Outfits: Destination weddings often combine relaxed and stylish elements. From beach weddings to mountaintop ceremonies, your outfit should reflect the setting. Beach Wedding: Women: Maxi dresses or kaftans in light fabrics such as linen or cotton. Avoid heavy embellishments and opt for bright prints or colors. Men: Linen shirts with tailored shorts or light trousers. Mountain Wedding: Women: Flowy dresses with shawls or wraps to keep warm. Men: Layered outfits like blazers with knit sweaters and formal trousers. Styling Tips: Practical footwear such as wedges or flats for outdoor venues. Add accessories like floral headpieces or boho-inspired jewelry for a laid-back vibe.
Cultural Wedding Attire: Attending a culturally rich wedding gives one the opportunity to dress up in traditional attire. It could be an Indian, Chinese, or African wedding; immerse oneself in the cultural dress code. Indian Wedding: Women: Sarees, lehengas, or anarkalis in bright colors and intricate embroidery. Men: Sherwanis or kurta-pajama sets with embellished jackets. Chinese Wedding: Women: Cheongsam or qipao dresses. Men: Formal suits in red or gold accents to symbolize prosperity. African Wedding: Women: Ankara dresses or buba and iro sets. Men: Dashikis or agbada outfits. Styling Tips: Research the cultural significance of colors and patterns to avoid faux pas. Incorporate accessories like ethnic jewelry or traditional footwear.
Seasonal Wedding Outfits: The time of year significantly influences your outfit choice. Dressing appropriately for the weather ensures both comfort and style.
Spring/Summer Weddings: Light fabrics and pastel shades dominate. Sundresses, sleeveless gowns, or jumpsuits are great options Fall/Winter Weddings: Rich colors like maroon, mustard, or forest green are great choices. Layer with faux fur stoles, velvet shawls, or tailored blazers for warmness. Styling Tips: Choose weather-appropriate footwear, such as closed-toe pumps for the winter or strappy sandals for summer. Add seasonal elements like floral motifs to spring or metallic accessories in winter.
Accessories to Elevate Your Look: The right accessories make any outfit a show stopper. Jewelry: For minimalist styles, one can go for bold statement pieces like chunky necklaces or large hoops. For over-accessorized outfits, one must go for minimal accessories like stud earrings or delicate bracelets. Bags: For formal events, clutches or minaudières work best. For casual or outdoor weddings, small cross-body bags are perfect. Shoes: Nude heels create a long, lean silhouette and go well with almost all outfits. Metallic flats or wedges can be comfortable and stylish at the same time for events that last longer. Hair: Updos and braids are perfect for formal settings. Soft curls or straightened hair are suitable for casual or outdoor weddings.
Makeup and Grooming: Wedding guests should aim for polished and photo-ready looks. Choose your makeup style according to the tone of the wedding.
Daytime Weddings: Choose natural makeup with dewy finishes and soft shades like peach or rose. Keep the lips subtle with nude or pink tones. Evening Weddings: Bold makeup works best, including smokey eyes or red lips. Use highlighters and contouring for a dramatic finish.
Dos and Don'ts for Wedding Guest Attire: Dos: Follow the dress code mentioned on the invitation. Prioritize comfort, especially if the wedding is long. Respect cultural traditions if attending ethnic weddings. Don'ts: Do not wear white unless it is permitted by the couple. Do not overdress or outshine the bride or groom. Do not wear overly casual outfits to formal weddings.
Sustainable Wedding Guest Fashion: Consider making eco-friendly choices in keeping with the latest trends in sustainable fashion.
Rent outfits for a one-time use. Locally made or ethically sourced clothing Invest in timeless pieces that you can re-wear for future events.
Conclusion Selecting the perfect wedding guest outfit requires balancing style, comfort, and respect for the couple's vision. This can be achieved by knowing the dress code, embracing seasonal trends, and adding your personal flair to create stunning looks for every wedding event. Whether you're attending a beach wedding, a black-tie affair, or a traditional celebration, let your outfit reflect the joy and love that weddings symbolize.
Planning a wardrobe for special occasions like weddings or Holi ensures you're always prepared. Use versatile staples, experiment with colors, and incorporate these styling tips for a chic look. From traditional ensembles to creative outfit ideas for Holi, balance comfort and style to make every celebration memorable and fashionable!

Nice work! It's subtle, effective design choices like that that make a great uniform...
Speaking of great designs, this year had some stunners:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For example, Haiti's uniforms, designed by Haitian-Italian designer Stella Jean and featuring printed paintings by notorious Haitian artist Philippe Dodard. Jean wanted to showcase the beauty of Haiti despite its political turmoil, with traditionally-woven jackets for the women, and a traditional shirt ("karabela") for the men. "Creativity is not subordinate to GDP," Jean writes. "Creativity is not limited by latitude, nor by wounds."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mongolia's uniforms, designed by sisters Michel & Amazonka. The rich embroidery on the vests evokes imagery that ties Mongolia's national Naadam festival to the lighting of the Olympic torch, with the mountains evoking the country's terrain while symbolizing the challenges the athletes overcame to participate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uniforms from the Philippines, designed by Francis Libirian. In addition to mimicking the shape and colors of the nation's flag, the iconic and genderless sarongs are worn over simple white shirt and slacks in a simple, stylish, manner.
Tumblr media
Sri Lankan uniforms, designed by LOVI Ceylon (a brand founded by Asanka De Mel to create a globally-recognized and proudly Sri Lankan look). A modern take on the 1800s Nilame and Manike (Prince and Princess) attire, these uniforms are painstakingly hand-embroidered with tens of thousands of beads, showcasing superb craftsmanship and pride.
Tumblr media
Uniforms for South Sudan's basketball team, designed by Rwandan company Moshions.
As the single outdoor basketball court in Southern Sudan was dirt and not measured to regulation, the team had to fly 500 miles to Rwanda on basketball federation president Luol Deng's dime to practice, making their defeat to Serbia all the more heartbreaking. Despite this, the country and coaches were proud of their athletes for their progress, and promised to return in 2028.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Palestinian uniforms (unknown designer):
The only design-related information I could find regarded the approval of flag-bearer Waseem Abu Sal's shirt, depicting bombs dropped on children playing soccer:

Dressing for a Destination Wedding: Tips for Style and Comfort
Tumblr media
Destination weddings are magical affairs set against stunning backdrops like beaches, mountains, or historic venues. While these exotic locations add a touch of fairy tale to the celebration, they also pose unique challenges when it comes to dressing appropriately. Striking the perfect balance between style and comfort is key to enjoying the festivities to the fullest. Here’s your ultimate guide to dressing for a destination wedding with panache and ease.
1. Research the Venue and Weather
The first step in planning your outfit is understanding the location and climate.
Beach Weddings:Opt for light and breezy fabrics like chiffon, linen, or cotton to stay cool in humid conditions. Avoid heavy fabrics that might make you uncomfortable.
Mountain Weddings: Layer up with elegant shawls, wraps, or jackets to stay warm during cooler evenings.
Historic Venues: Choose outfits that complement the grandeur of the location, such as intricately embroidered gowns or regal suits.
Pro Tip: Check the weather forecast beforehand to avoid surprises and carry essentials like a stylish umbrella or a scarf.
2. Dress Code Decoded
Many destination weddings have a specific dress code that aligns with the theme or vibe of the location. Understanding and adhering to it ensures you’re appropriately dressed.
Casual: Flowy maxi dresses, pastel jumpsuits, or linen trousers with a light shirt work best.
Semi-Formal:Opt for cocktail dresses, midi skirts, or tailored suits in vibrant colors.
Formal: Floor-length gowns or tuxedos with minimal accessories will make you stand out.
Pro Tip: When in doubt, reach out to the hosts for clarity or look for cues in the invitation.
3. Prioritize Comfort with Fabric Choices
Comfort is paramount, especially when you’re traveling. Lightweight, wrinkle-resistant fabrics ensure you look fresh and polished throughout the event.
Fabrics to Embrace: Chiffon, georgette, and crepe for women; lightweight wool or linen blends for men.
Fabrics to Avoid: Heavy silks, brocades, or stiff materials that might restrict movement.
Pro Tip: If you’re unsure, pack a backup outfit to account for any last-minute changes in plans or weather.
4. Footwear That Fits the Occasion
Footwear plays a crucial role in ensuring comfort and style at a destination wedding.
Beach Weddings: Go for embellished flats, wedges, or sandals that won’t sink into the sand.
Mountain or Garden Venues:Opt for block heels or stylish boots with good grip to navigate uneven terrain.
Formal Settings: Classic pumps or sleek loafers are always a safe choice.
Pro Tip: Break in new shoes before the event to avoid blisters or discomfort.
5. Play with Colors and Patterns
Destination weddings often embrace vibrant themes and bold aesthetics, making them the perfect opportunity to experiment with your look.
Tropical Settings: Bright colors like coral, turquoise, or fuchsia with floral prints add to the festive vibe.
Rustic Venues: Earthy tones like mustard, olive green, or terracotta work beautifully.
Regal Venues: Jewel tones like emerald, sapphire, or ruby exude elegance.
Pro Tip: Avoid wearing white unless explicitly mentioned, as it’s traditionally reserved for the bride.
6. Accessorize Wisely
Accessories can make or break your look. Strike the right balance by choosing pieces that enhance your outfit without overwhelming it.
For Women:
Opt for statement earrings, delicate bracelets, or a bold necklace.
Carry a chic clutch or crossbody bag to keep essentials handy.
For Men:
Add a pocket square, a classic watch, or a stylish tie for a polished look.
Pro Tip: Choose accessories that are lightweight and easy to pack for travel.
7. Hairstyles That Stay Put
The weather at a destination wedding can be unpredictable, so opt for hairstyles that can withstand wind, humidity, or heat.
Beach Weddings: Braids, low buns, or loose waves with hairpins.
Mountain Venues: Elegant updos or half-up, half-down styles with accessories like floral clips.
Indoor Venues: Soft curls or straightened hair for a sleek look.
Pro Tip: Use high-hold hairspray or styling products to ensure your hair stays in place.
8. Lightweight Makeup for a Flawless Look
Destination weddings often involve long hours, so choose makeup that’s light yet long-lasting.
Beach Settings: Go for a dewy look with waterproof mascara, tinted moisturizer, and a soft blush.
Colder Climates: Use a hydrating primer, bold lipstick, and a highlighter for a radiant finish.
Pro Tip: Carry touch-up essentials like blotting paper, compact powder, and lipstick for quick fixes.
9. Pack Smartly
Efficient packing ensures you’re prepared for every event without overloading your luggage.
Use garment bags to keep outfits wrinkle-free.
Roll your clothes instead of folding to save space.
Pack versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched.
Pro Tip: Don’t forget essentials like safety pins, a portable steamer, and stain remover wipes for emergencies.
10. Add a Personal Touch
Finally, let your personality shine through in your outfit. Whether it’s a family heirloom, custom embroidery, or a unique piece of jewelry, incorporating personal elements makes your ensemble even more special.
Conclusion
Dressing for a destination wedding doesn’t have to be daunting. By prioritizing comfort, understanding the venue, and packing thoughtfully, you can create a look that’s both stylish and practical. Remember, the key to enjoying a destination wedding is feeling confident and comfortable in what you wear—after all, the best accessory you can bring is your radiant smile.
So, gear up to make memories in style and celebrate love at picturesque locations without compromising on your flair for fashion!

Remembering a Visit to Jimmy Carter in Plains, Georgia
Tumblr media
The late President’s priorities were remarkably prescient, and his personal qualities offered a dismaying contrast to so much of the present state of American politics.
By Lawrence Wright
December 29, 2024
In September, 2011, I drove to Plains, Georgia, with Gerald Rafshoon, President Jimmy Carter’s former media adviser.
youtube
Rafshoon had asked me to write a play about the 1978 Camp David summit between Carter, President Anwar Sadat, of Egypt, and Menachem Begin, the Israeli Prime Minister.
They were three pious men.
Sadat called himself “the first man of Islam.”
He plotted against the British and was charged with complicity in an assassination of a pro-British minister, and had come to the Presidency only through the death of the charismatic leader of the Arab world, Gamal Abdel Nasser.
Tumblr media
Begin was an Orthodox Jew—the first non-secular leader of Israel and the founder of the Likud Party—and had lost his parents in the Holocaust. He had also been the head of a terrorist organization, the Irgun, and was responsible for the deaths of more than ninety people in the bombing of the King David Hotel, in Jerusalem, in 1946.
Carter, an evangelical Christian, had had little prior political experience other than a single term as the governor of Georgia.
These men spent thirteen days secluded near Maryland’s Catoctin Mountain and produced a peace treaty that has endured for forty years. It was Jimmy Carter’s signature accomplishment and one that has never been matched in the region, despite decades of strenuous attempts.
The Carters lived in a ranch house on the edge of town.
We met in the front room, where Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, sat on a couch upholstered in a blue print that matched the curtains.
Behind them was a painting that Carter had made of the same room, with its grandfather clock, rocking chairs, and roll-top desk.
It looked like an illustration from the children’s book “Goodnight Moon.”
Not depicted were two matching elliptical machines that faced the television.
Carter was eighty-six at the time.
He wore khaki pants, short athletic socks, and a blue shirt that almost disappeared against the couch.
His silver belt buckle was a horseshoe enclosing the initials J.C. He had not shaved, and his white stubble made his face more wintry than usual.
I was just beginning my research, and I didn’t yet know who the characters in the play should be, beyond Carter, Sadat, and Begin.
Rafshoon introduced me by saying that I had recently published an article in The New Yorker about Scientology. “Oh, I read that,” Carter said. “I found it most intriguing.”
“Since when did you start reading The New Yorker?” Rosalynn asked.
“I read it every week!” he protested.
Rosalynn rolled her eyes.
It was as if she had leapt onstage.
Dramatically, I needed someone who could talk to Carter with the unvarnished candor and the unsparing insight that comes from a lifetime spent together.
Rosalynn was born in Plains, and her family lived next door to the house where the Carter family then lived, though she and Jimmy didn’t become romantically involved until 1945, when he came home for the summer from the United States Naval Academy, in Annapolis.
After their first date, he told his mother that he was going to marry Rosalynn.
They were wed the following year, after his graduation.
He was twenty-one and she was eighteen.
Carter owned a stand of pines, which were being harvested, so we rode out in a Secret Service Tahoe to watch the trees being cut, trimmed, and loaded onto a flatbed truck.
The agent driving the car was new and unfamiliar with the back roads.
Carter was testy and snapped at him when he missed a turn.
I felt sympathy for the agent, who had signed up to protect his country and found himself driving down on a dirt road, answering to an impatient old man who had once been the most powerful figure in the world and had since become the closest approximation in public life to an American saint.
Tumblr media
Along the way, Carter gave us a drive-by tour of his childhood home, which is now a historic site, the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm, in the small community of Archery, three miles west of Plains, where his family moved when he was four.
“This is where I learned blacksmithing. This is the barn where I used to corral mules,” he said, not bothering to get out of the car.
There was a dirt tennis court that his father had built.
“I could beat every kid in town, but I never beat my father,” Carter told us.
The Carters were the only white family in Archery, and his playmates were the children of Black tenant farmers.
The lessons he drew from his background in southern Georgia would define his political career.
He lost his first run for governor, in 1966, to Lester Maddox, one of the most racist figures in modern Georgia history.
That defeat sent him into a spiritual crisis, and he later credited his experience of being “born again” for getting him through this bleak period.
In his gubernatorial inaugural address, in 1971, Carter said, “I say to you quite frankly that the time for racial discrimination is over.”
In the South at that time, the declaration was a landmark, and it got him on the cover of Time magazine.
Tumblr media
Carter made a point of showing me the family cemetery—a dirt patch surrounded by a hurricane fence.
His people had been in the area since the early nineteenth century, and the tombstones were worn and covered in lichen.
He was clearly proud of how tidy the ground was, having cleared it himself, nearly stepping on a rattlesnake in the process.
We passed a deserted farmhouse that Carter said was haunted. “By what?”
I asked. “Haints,” Carter said, using an old Southern term for ghosts.
He said that, as a boy, when he was working in town or staying late at school after dark, he was terrified of walking past the house.
Several times, he thought he saw a haint in the window, “a woman with a lamp.”
There was a legend that a woman who once lived there kept her daughter in the attic, he told me.
“Maybe that was her.”
When we got back to the house, the Carters decided that we should all go into town for dinner—i.e., lunch—at Mom’s Kitchen.
The Carters rode in the Tahoe, and Rafshoon and I drove with Mary Prince, an African American woman who had worked for the Carters for decades.
Prince had been convicted of murder following the shooting of a man outside a bar in Lumpkin, Georgia, in 1970.
When the Carters lived in the Governor’s Mansion, she was assigned there as a trusty prisoner, and worked as a nanny to their daughter, Amy.
During Carter’s Presidency, he arranged to be designated as Prince’s parole officer, so that she could work in the White House.
She was eventually declared innocent of the murder and was granted a full pardon.
Mom’s turned out to be an all-you-can-eat buffet serving fried chicken, meat loaf, and collard greens.
We talked a bit about politics and the 2012 election.
Carter had his differences with President Barack Obama but thought that he would be reëlected.
Rick Perry, then the governor of Texas, had just jumped into the race as an early favorite.
Carter thought he had no chance of winning, but, if he did, “it may be a disaster for the Republican Party.”
“Of course,” Rosalynn observed, “we thought the same about Reagan.”
I was still intrigued by Carter’s paranormal experiences, so I asked him about a time in the nineteen-sixties when he said he saw a U.F.O.
He was the head of several Lions Clubs in Georgia, and had gone to make a speech at a club in another town.
“There were about twenty-five other men standing outside,” he recalled.
“There was a light over the trees, at first no bigger than a star, then like a moon, then it hovered over the trees. It was big and round. Then it moved away.”
I said that I had once seen something similar, while driving through Alabama.
An astronomer friend had said it was a “noctilucent cloud,” a mysterious phenomenon which, at the time, was common enough to have acquired a name but still defied understanding.
It was shaped like a perfect globe and appeared solid, like a hovering moon, until it slowly dissolved.
“Something else strange did happen, while I was President,” Carter said.
“We had a plane go down in Zaire with some important documents. We searched for it. We adjusted our satellites to comb through the area, without success. Finally, my director of intelligence, Stansfield Turner, said he knew of a psychic in California. Apparently, he spoke to her, and she wrote down some coördinates. And we programmed that into the satellite, and, the next time it passed over, there was the plane.”
“That tells me a lot about the intelligence community,” I said.
“Indeed,” Carter said. “One of our few successes.”
In 1973, when Carter was still governor, he and Rosalynn journeyed to Israel.
It was both a spiritual and a political pilgrimage.
Golda Meir was the Prime Minister, and, as a courtesy, she accorded the Georgia governor and his wife an old Mercedes and a driver to ferry them around the Holy Land.
The trip to Israel fortified Carter’s international portfolio and awarded him credibility among American Jews, a critical Democratic constituency for the improbable race that he was considering.
The Carters also visited several Jewish settlements on the West Bank, which he concluded posed a significant obstacle to peace.
He was profoundly moved by Israel’s struggle, and on his first day in the Oval Office, in January, 1977, he stunned his Vice-President, Walter Mondale, by saying that his first priority was to bring peace to the Middle East.
Carter later told me that he believed God had put him into the Presidency for that very reason.
Carter had taught Bible classes since he was in the Naval Academy, and he still taught Sunday School when he was in Plains, at the Maranatha Baptist Church.
He and Rosalynn had a habit of reading the Bible to each other in Spanish.
I felt a little sheepish questioning him about his understanding of the meaning of the scriptures, but I reminded him of the vengeful, partisan God depicted in the Old Testament.
“So why do you think God wants peace in the Holy Land?” I asked.
“Because we follow the Prince of Peace in the New Testament,” he responded.
Secularists and mainstream Christians were, in some ways, more at ease with Carter’s faith than were his fellow-evangelicals.
In 1980, two-thirds of white American evangelical voters turned to Carter’s opponent, Ronald Reagan, who rarely attended church.
Indeed, the Moral Majority and other evangelical movements arose in opposition to Carter’s Presidency and became firmly aligned with the right.
(Three decades later, more than eighty per cent of white evangelicals supported Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.)
This was despite the fact that, as President, Carter promoted an overtly Christian agenda, working to overcome poverty and disease, make the tax code fairer, reduce the prison population, and promote human rights around the world.
When he left office, he monitored elections in strife-torn nations, brokered peace, secured the release of hostages, and helped build or repair more than four thousand houses in fourteen countries.
In retrospect, Carter’s priorities in the White House—the environment, energy conservation, peace, health care—were remarkably prescient, and certainly his personal qualities offer a dismaying contrast to so much of the present state of American politics.
Perhaps his piety soured the American public on him.
Other qualities—his doggedness, earnestness, sincerity, blunt honesty—were in sharp contrast to those of Reagan, who proved irresistible to the public.
Both of the Carters attributed his loss in the 1980 election to the failed attempt to rescue the fifty-two American hostages who were being held in the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
The mission was aborted when three of eight helicopters deployed were disabled, in part because of a sandstorm.
Another helicopter crashed into a transport plane, killing eight servicemen.
The Ayatollah finally released the hostages on the day that Ronald Reagan was inaugurated.
It was a tragic capstone to Carter’s luckless Presidency.
Constituencies that seemed tailored to endorse Carter gave him a cold shoulder.
In his reëlection bid, he was the first Democratic nominee since 1920 not to gain the majority of the Jewish vote, despite his signal accomplishment of making peace between Israel and its most dangerous foe.
Sadat and Begin won the Nobel Peace Prize immediately after Camp David, but Carter was spurned, even though he had risked everything to make it happen.
In 2002, the Nobel committee finally amended its error, justifying it, in part, because Carter had criticized the Bush Administration’s invasion of Iraq.
Tumblr media
In April of 2014, my play “Camp David” opened at the Arena Stage, in Washington, D.C.
The Carters were there, along with Sadat’s widow, Jehan.
To my alarm, Carter was seated directly behind me.
I had no idea how he would respond.
Throughout the performance, I imagined his disappointment, anger, distrust, whatever, radiating through me.
The play treated him as a flawed man with a great dream.
He was driven by a belief that God would not let him fail in his effort to bring peace to the Holy Land, but God was certainly not helping.
Carter had set aside three or four days to accomplish the feat—in the event, it took thirteen days, an almost unimaginable time commitment for a modern President.
Failure was always the most likely outcome, even on the last day.
Carter’s trust in his own ingenuity, persistence, and persuasion, as well as his trust in God, were brought into question.
Camp David was his greatest political accomplishment, but from the start it teetered on the edge of fiasco.
There was another story that underlay the peace negotiations, and that was the story of the love between Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter.
Their relationship was deep, honest, and durable.
I had come to admire the Carters as I did few people in public life.
They came from a stigmatized part of America, and they had been decisively rejected by the electorate, but they never paused in their service.
Nor did they enrich themselves.
Their entire life together was marked by high aspiration and noble effort. Their marriage endured more than seventy years, until Rosalynn passed away at their home in Plains, in November, 2023, at the age of ninety-six.
At the end of the play, Jerry Rafshoon and I were called up on the stage along with the actors and the Carters.
The Carters were weeping.
I wondered what exactly had affected the President so strongly.
The Carters went down the line, thanking the actors.
Richard Thomas, who played the President, had been as nervous as I was, and Carter teased him.
But when he came to Hallie Foote, who played Rosalynn, he simply said, “I fell in love with you again tonight.”
Tumblr media
Jean-Pierre Khazem, "First Ladies," Rosalyn, 2004.
Using women who were physically similar to various first ladies, Khazem dressed bis models in designer outfits and had them wear silicone masks.
The masks produce an eerie doll-like effect, but the result is a near-perfect resemblance.
There's a hyper-glitzed Nancy Reagan casting her famous gaze.
A bouffant-encrusted Pat Nixon rests a hand on her narrow chin.
But seated alone on a big couch with folded newspapers at her side, the humbly attired Rosalynn Carter is right out of a David Lynch film.
"Rosalynn" is by far the most nightmarish portrait.
But why?
Isn't she known as one of the sweetest liberal wives to ever reside in the White House?

Destination t-shirts have a unique appeal because they combine two essential elements of travel: memories and style. These shirts often feature iconic landmarks, city names, country flags, or local artwork that remind you of your favorite destinations.
They allow you to showcase the places you’ve been to while keeping your wardrobe both comfortable and casual.

Instead of picking up a keychain or magnet, a destination t-shirt gives you something more practical to remember your travels by. Every time you wear it, you’ll be reminded of the sights, sounds, and adventures from that destination.
Versatility for Any Trip
Travel t-shirts are incredibly versatile. They’re lightweight, breathable, and easy to pack, making them an ideal choice for any travel itinerary. Whether you're lounging on a beach, exploring a new city, or embarking on an adventure, a travel t-shirt can keep you comfortable throughout the day.
Reflect Your Personality
A destination t-shirt is a perfect way to showcase your love for certain places or activities. Whether it's a graphic tee featuring a mountain range for the avid hiker or a shirt with tropical prints for beach lovers, these shirts allow you to express your personality and interests with ease.
Great for Gifting
Destination apparel also makes a fantastic gift for fellow travelers. Whether you’re buying for a friend who loves to visit new places or a family member who has a favorite travel destination, a destination t-shirt is a thoughtful and practical souvenir.
4 Destination Apparel Trends
In the world of destination apparel, the designs are as varied as the places you visit. From minimalistic prints to bold graphics, the options are endless. Here are a few trends in destination t-shirts that reflect the spirit of wanderlust:
Vintage-Inspired Designs
Retro-style travel shirts with faded graphics or throwback logos have made a huge comeback. These vintage-inspired designs often feature old-school airport logos, classic cityscapes, or vintage advertisements that give your t-shirt a nostalgic feel.
Local Art and Culture
Many destination t-shirts feature designs inspired by the local culture and artwork of the places you visit. For example, a shirt featuring colorful indigenous art, local landmarks, or even local sayings and phrases can provide a deeper connection to the destination.
Sustainable Fabrics
As eco-consciousness grows, many travel brands are opting for organic cotton or recycled materials in their destination apparel. These sustainable fabrics allow you to travel with a clear conscience while supporting eco-friendly practices.
Personalized Tees
Customization is a big trend in the world of destination t-shirts. Many companies allow you to personalize your shirt with specific details, such as the name of a city, a significant date, or even a unique graphic that speaks to your personal travel experiences.
Travel T-Shirts for Men: A Perfect Blend of Comfort and Style
