Really quite an interesting top 9 this year! It seems to me you all really enjoy when I show a small detail - I'm looking straight at that fire extinguisher 🔥 but there are some posts in there that definitely highlight the year for me! Renault 5 GT rally diorama - commission - (1/43) With the back scene coming together I realised that I needed more balance in the scene and as I had included a forced perspective tree line leading up to the top of the crest I felt I wanted to carry this on with that perspective except for I wanted to make it 3 dimensional. To do this I remembered I had saved some foam packaging a while back which would be easy to shape and so using static grass as the main foliage for the fir trees I was able to create them in a simple but effective way I feel. Renault 5 GT rally diorama - commission - (1/43) Hustling hard on my days off this week 💪 I've applied a base of two layers of carved foam board to which I've then shaped with layers of tissue paper and then Papier mache. I then have added in various mixtures of filler and different grades of textures. Renault 5 GT rally diorama - commission - (1/43) The Renault 5 is fully cocooned to allow me to get both the primer and airbrush around with out damaging it's finished... You can see at the top I've also used paper to cover up the area's I don't want to hit. Renault 5 GT rally diorama - commission - (1/43) I've taken the Dremel to the Renault 5 and I removed all the paint around the areas that needed beefing up. I then used plasticard of the thinnest thickness to give a layer for other layers to adhere to. I used super glue to attach them. I then had to build up the bumpers carefully by fitting the plastic and cutting to shape ✂️ I then used my trusty @2019_milliput to create the wheel arches and door sills. To introduce you, this is one of two commissions that I'm going to be working on over the next few weeks. This diorama will be depict a Renault 5 GT leaping over a crest and I and I need to replicate it with quite specific decals which will be a challenge! I have some work to do on the car its self as I'm using a standard Renault 5 and doing a bit of a conversion to bead it up a little.
